The Xiaomi CC9 is expected to launch as the Mi A3 Pro but there is still no official word on a Pro variant of the Mi A3. However, a new finding shows the CC9 may launch under another name for a different market.
Mishaal Rahman, the editor-in-chief of XDA-Developers tweeted that a new device called the Mi 9 Lite recently appeared on Google’s list of certified Android devices. The device is shown to be a variant of the Xiaomi CC9 and it also has the same “pyxis” codename.
There is not enough information regarding the device but other than the name change, this will have the same specs as the Mi CC9. This is not the first time a Xiaomi phone will go by a different name in a different market. The Redmi K20/K20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9T/9T Pro are the most recent examples. There is also the Redmi Note 5A (Prime) which launched as the Redmi Y1 in India.
The Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite just appeared on Google's list of certified Android devices. It's listed with the code-name pyxis and is a variant of the Mi CC9.
Earlier this year, there were rumors of a phone called the Mi 9X but it never launched. The Mi 9 Lite has a higher chance of launching since it already popped up on Google’s Certified Android devices list.
Xiaomi‘s ecological chain company SOOCAS has unveiled a new electric toothbrush dubbed Soocas V1. The electric toothbrush will be up on sale on September 9.
In terms of the specification, the Soocas V1 Sonic electric toothbrush uses a magnetic levitation sonic motor with a maximum frequency of 42,000 beats per minute. Compared with a pendulum motor electric toothbrush, it has more power and a longer shelf life.
The toothbrush comes with three different modes. There is a gentle mode that is suitable for night brushing and those with sensitive teeth and for young people. The standard mode comes with moderate vibration intensity and is suitable for daily use. The third mode is a pulse mode which alternates between strong and weak frequency conversion. This mode is suitable for cleaning stains from the teeth. You can switch between modes by pressing the power button.
The toothbrush comes with two different brush heads. Aside from the bristle, the brush head is covered with a silicone tongue brush at the back, making it easy to clean the tongue without changing the brush head.
In terms of battery life, the Soocas V1 uses an enlarged battery to improve power transmission. The battery is extremely durable as a 4-hour charge can last up to 60 days.
We’ll find out about the price and availability when it is officially launched. The sonic toothbrush comes in Pink and Blue but there could be other colour options.
IFA Berlin 2019 is just around the corner and as usual, tech companies are expected to exhibit their latest innovative products. Sharp has announced that it would be unveiling what it claims is the world’s biggest 8K smart television at IFA Berlin.
The Japanese company did not reveal the name of the product but did indicate that it will be on exhibition from September 6 to September 11. The smart TV will feature a 120-inch display capable of 8K resolution. The company also disclosed that it would be unveiling a 5G TV also with 8 resolution.
Details of the mammoth 8K TV and the 5G 8K TV weren’t revealed. But we expect the 5G TV to come with a 5G baseband. The TV is designed for use during pubic exhibitions such as in museums and schools. The TV can remotely display ultra-clear videos and pictures of artworks. The exact size of the 5G TV wasn’t disclosed but it can broadcast 8K HDR content. Sharp is hoping to build an 8K + 5G ecosystem that can transmit ultra-clear videos and pictures to end-users via 5G networks or upload them to the Internet. Transmitting high-gamut 8K ultra-clear videos require at least 512Gbps of ultra-high bandwidth, and only 5G can provide that kind of speed.
We’ll bring you more details about the products when they are unveiled.
The retail box of the Xiaomi Air 2 Bluetooth Earphones is shown in the background of a photo shared on the web. The photo seems to have been taken at a Xiaomi office as the box is shown on the desk of an employee.
A close-up photo shows the design has changed a bit. The earbuds still come in white with a case just like that of the original. However, the part that goes into the ears has been redesigned.
[envira-gallery id=”273348″]
The retail box is near identical to that of the original Air save for the name which now says Air 2.
We expect the Xiaomi Air 2 Bluetooth Earphones will keep the touch controls of its predecessor. So you should be able to answer calls, activate the AI assistant, or pause/resume playback by touching the earbuds. It should also come with better noise cancellation.
Xiaomi may announce the Air 2 Bluetooth Earphones in September, maybe alongside the Mi 9 5G or delay it a bit and announce it alongside the Mi MIX 4 (if it eventually gets to call it that).
The Galaxy A-series has been transformed from an upper mid-range series to an all-encompassing series. While it already includes phones from the entry-level, mid-range, and upper mid-range category; Samsung is set to announce the first Galaxy A-series flagship – the Galaxy A90 5G. Ahead of its release, the phone’s retail box has leaked on the web and it gives us a close look at the design and also reveals some key specs.
The Galaxy A90 5G will have an Infinity-U display with black bezels running around it. The frame appears to be made from aluminum with a visible antenna line at the upper part. The volume control and power button are on the left as shown on the box.
[envira-gallery id=”273334″]
On the rear, the Galaxy A90 5G has triple rear cameras arranged vertically at the left corner. All three sensors share the same housing, and below the sensors sit an LED flash. The A90 5G doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner on the back, so we are pretty sure there is one under that Super AMOLED display, though we can’t say if it is an ultrasonic type.
The Galaxy A90 5G is shown in white but there should be other color variants available at launch.
The back of the box reveals some of the phone’s specs. The Galaxy A90 5G will have an octa-core processor but as Samsung is known to do, the name of the processor isn’t revealed on the box. Leaks and benchmark results have revealed the processor inside the phone is none other than the Snapdragon 855. The SoC is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The phone’s triple rear camera configuration is also listed on the box. The primary sensor is a 48MP camera and it is paired with 5MP and 8MP secondary sensors. The A90 5G also has a 32MP front-facing camera and supports 25W Super Fast Charging.
The Galaxy A90 5G still doesn’t have a release date but it sure will be launching in Samsung’s home country first.
The first-generation Honor Play smartphone was an important device for the company. It was the first gaming flagship from Honor and came with technologies such as GPU Turbo and 4D gaming at a very attractive price tag. While we haven’t heard much about its successor, it looks like Honor could skip a generation to call it the Honor Play 3.
Recently, an alleged box of the Honor Play 3 was spotted in China and shared on Weibo. Seeing this box, it is being speculated that the company has decided to name it the Play 3. Unfortunately, we aren’t really sure of its authenticity. The alignment of the words Play 3 seems a bit off. However, even if this leak isn’t real, there’s a good possibility that we might see Play’s successor at the September 4 Honor 20S event.
Honor’s Zhao Ming has already confirmed that we’ll meet one more device alongside the Honor 20S at the event. The Honor Play was announced back in July 2018, which means a successor to the device is already past due.
But it’s worth adding that while Google apps won’t come pre-installed on Mate 30 series models, users can always download and install these apps once they get the phone.
Oppo tried to make fun of the new potential best-seller Redmi Note 8 Pro by announcing the Realme XT a few hours before the Xiaomi’s mid-ranger and making it the world’s first 64 MP camera phone. The handset was officially confirmed right before the announcement of the Redmi Note 8 Pro and right after the announcement of another Oppo’s mid-range phone: the Reno2 Z. While the Redmi Note 8 Pro catalyzed more attention due to Xiaomi’s popularity all around the world, it will be very interesting to discover which of these devices will offer the best user experience and the highest value for money. Through this specs comparison, we want to help you to find the best device independently from its popularity. Note that there was not a dedicated event for the announcement of the Realme XT, so actually there are some bits missing in its specs sheet.

Design
Oppo Reno2 Z is the most premium device if we talk about aesthetics. Not only it offers a more original design, but also a higher screen-to-body ratio and smaller dimensions than Redmi Note 8 Pro (despite it has the same screen size), as well as a futuristic pop-up camera. Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme XT both offer a classic waterdrop design with cheaper materials and less attention to details. Unlike its rivals, Redmi Note 8 Pro does not have an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Display
Redmi Note 8 Pro could not feature an under-display fingerprint reader because it sports a classic IPS display, while both Oppo Reno2 Z and Realme XT feature a better AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint reader. On the display side, I personally prefer the Reno2 Z because it has a wider panel, narrower bezels around the display and it is notch-less. The display quality should not differ so much, so do not focus a lot on it.
Specs & Software
The presence of the Helio G90T SoC by MediaTek makes the Redmi Note 8 Pro the most performing phone of the trio. The Helio G90T is meant specifically for gamers, so it has very high graphics performance, it is backed by a liquid cooling system and it even offers better CPU performance. The only disadvantage is energy consumption, as it was built with a less efficient production process (12 nm). But you should not worry so much since the Redmi Note 8 Pro has a bigger battery. Just note that the most advanced memory configuration of the Reno2 Z by Oppo has more internal storage (256 GB), while its opponents stop at 128 GB.
Camera
In each case, you get an amazing quad-camera setup, even though not flagship-class cameras. Despite Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme XT feature 64 MP sensors and Reno 2 Z comes with a 48 MP main sensor, Reno2 Z sports optical stabilization and a brighter focal aperture, so its photo and video quality should be a lot better. The Reno2 Z is even the only to feature a selfie camera equipped with a front-facing LED flash.
Battery
Redmi Note 8 Pro has a bigger battery, but it also has a less efficient display and chipset. That is why Realme XT with its 10 nm chipset should be able to last more on a single charge with most of the usage patterns.
Price
We still do not know how much Realme XT will cost (most likely under €200/$220), but Reno2 Z debuted with a €380/$420 starting price while Redmi Note 8 Pro starts from just €180/$200. If we exclude the chipset, Oppo Reno2 Z is an overall better device, but given its performance and price, Redmi Note 8 Pro has a higher value for money. The only thing left is to wait for the listing price of Realme XT to make a definitive value for money comparison between the latest device from Oppo’s sub-brand and the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

The Xiaomi Mi A3 launched in July, first in Spain, before heading to Ukraine, Malaysia, and then India a few weeks ago. The phone has now made its way to Nigeria albeit without much or any fanfare at all.
The Mi A3 is not the first Android One smartphone in the country, the Infinix Hot 2 gets that title. Even before Xiaomi‘s re-entry into Nigeria this year, its other Android One smartphones (Mi A1, Mi A2 Lite, and Mi A2) have been sold by third-party retailers and even major online stores. So fans of the line will surely be excited that the 3rd-gen Android One smartphone is available in the country.
The Mi A3 is available in two configurations – there is a 4GB RAM + 64GB version and a 4GB RAM + 128GB version. Storage can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot (256GB max.). The 64GB version has a price tag of ₦71,900 (~$198) while the 128GB version is priced at ₦79,900 (~$220). A couple of days back, the Amazfit GTS, Amazfit Sports Watch 3 and a concept Amazfit X were unveiled at an event in China. This happens to be the third product launch from the company within the last three months. Earlier on we saw the company launch the Amazfit Verge 2 and later on the Amazfit GTS.

Samsung was recently uncovered to be working on a new 5G phone that won’t be released under the flagship Galaxy S lineup. Instead, the device is an A-series model dubbed Galaxy A90 5G. The device has previously been spotted at a couple of paces; WiFi Alliance, GeekBench. What looks like the official teaser poster of the Samsung 5G phone has now leaked.
The leaked poster shows the device has the model number SM-A908N and will indeed bear the moniker “Galaxy A90 5G”. The poster contains renders of the device showing both the front and rear aspects. The phone features an infinity display with a waterdrop notch and a high screen ratio. At the rear, there is a vertically aligned triple camera setup with all sensors in one module. The LED flash is just under the camera module.
The main selling point of the Galaxy A90 is no doubt the 5G connectivity which it offers. That may be why the company decided not to include the rotating camera that heralded the Galaxy A80. The device is tipped to pack a Snapdragon 855 chipset going by the GeekBench listing. The phone is also expected to utilise a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The main rear camera is said to be a 48 MP unit, flanked by an 8 MP ultrawide while the third 5MP snapper is likely a depth sensor.
Samsung is yet to officially announce when the model will go official but we expect that to happen pretty soon.
Xiaomi‘s Black Shark brand is known for its premium gaming smartphones. The brand’s smartphones are legendary for their powerful setup including a durable battery with fast charging and innovative cooling system. This is to ensure users get maximum game time without running out of battery. But then, even if you run out of battery power, Black Shark has now got you covered with its latest mobile power pack with a 10000mAh battery capacity.
Black Shark’s 10000mAh power bank case comes with a spectacular design. The design looks rugged and may have borrowed some inspiration from Black Shark’s gaming phones. The body is manufactured from rubber and metal. The metal part has a silver coating. The power bank equally has a green LED strip at the centre showing the battery level. At the bottom, there is another LED light which comes on when the power bank is being charged.
On the internals, the power bank has as its biggest feature the 18W fast charge support and that is bi-directional. In other words, it dishes out 18W maximum power to charge gadgets and when the power bank is drained, it can be charged pretty fast. The power bank features two USB-A ports and a USB-C port which is used to charge the battery. The Type-C port can still be used to charge another device via reverse charging. The company claims, it can charge the Black Shark 2 Pro smartphone up to 47% in just 30 minutes. There is also built-in safety features to prevent from excessive heating, short circuit or overcorrect. There is also a button to slow down the charging speed in case it is being used to charge gadgets like the Black Shark Gamepad or a smart band.
As for the pricing, the Black Shark 10000mAh power bank is already on sale for 119 yuan ($16) via Black Shark’s official website and Mi.com.
In recent times, Meizu has reduced the rate at which it launched new smartphones but the company took the wraps off its first Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone – the Meizu 16s Pro. While the pace of smartphone unveiling has reduced, the Chinese phone maker has not deviated from its spectacular design which has at its bedrock, a resolve to maintain the symmetry of smartphone display. That is what the company did with the new Meizu 16s Pro.
The 16s Pro comes with a spectacular design which in actual sense looks like the Meizu 16. There is no notch at the top of the screen but the device presents with an ultra-thin bezel at the top just wide enough to hold the selfie camera. The bezel at the bottom edge of the display is also the same size as that at the top. The bezels at the sides are almost completely off. But for the white colour of the display edges, it would have been difficult to notice the side bezels.
The Meizu 16s Pro is also a beauty to behold from the rear. The device uses a dual-curved edge design and a glass panel. There is a vertically stacked camera module bearing three camera sensors. The third camera sensor is bordered by Meizu’s patented ring flash, adding to the beauty. The rear cameras are the only occupants of the back panel as the device doesn’t have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Although the 16s Pro doesn’t use a pop-up selfie camera design, the SIM card slot is moved to the bottom edge flanking the USB-C port. This could be to reduce the size of the device. The 16s Pro is just 7.65mm thick and weighs 166 grams.
To recall, the Meizu 16s Pro packs a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 18.6:9 and full HD+ resolution of 2232 x 1080 pixels. The display has a screen ratio of 91.53 percent. The display of the phone is embedded with a Super mTouch in-screen fingerprint scanner. Keeping the lights on is a 3,600mAh battery that supports 24W rapid charging.

Starting with the renders which are from OnLeaks in collaboration with 91Mobiles, we can see OnePlus is keeping the design of the OnePlus 7 Pro. We have a display that nearly covers the whole of the front of the phone, a motorized pop-up selfie camera, and triple rear cameras arranged vertically in the middle.
The OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition will also have the same design in addition to a textured-pattern underneath the rear glass, the McLaren orange accent, and the McLaren logo at the bottom.
The OnePlus 7T Pro will come in a new Haze Blue color variant shown above. Other than the color change, OnLeaks says the OnePlus 7T Pro and the OnePlus 7T are identical on the outside. What about on the inside?

According to Max J (@Samsung_News_), the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition will have a 6.67-inch 2K+ 90Hz curved display. This is the same screen as that of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Under the hood will be the new Snapdragon 855 Plus processor paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage for the base model. There is no mention of other configurations but he adds that the McLaren Edition will be the only one with 12GB of RAM.

Both phones will have triple rear cameras – a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP ultrawide angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The camera software will be improved, so expect better quality photos. Ishan Agarwal adds in his own OnePlus 7T leak that the Pro will feature a new Macro mode, HEVC, and hybrid image stabilization. It will also have a new Nightscape mode that supports the wide-angle camera.
The OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition will each have a 4085mAh battery, a slight bump over that of the OnePlus 7 Pro. There will also be support for what he calls Warp Charge 30T (no not an error, more info on this below). Both phones will run Android 10 out of the box.
He also revealed the specs of the OnePlus 7T. We already know this as Ishan Agarwal leaked them earlier this week, but there are some new details. For example, the OnePlus 7T will come with a 48MP primary camera paired with a 16MP ultrawide angle camera and a 12MP telephoto zoom camera with 2x optical zoom. The phone will have support for 960fps slow-motion recording at 720p for a duration of 10 seconds). There is also Nightscape 2.
Indeed, #OnePlus7TPro looks similar to the 7 Pro. Most updates on software side, hardware remains same with SD855+ addition. Android 10, 4080mAH Battery. Most interesting was obviously the normal #OnePlus7T which I told about already a day ago! BTW, Slow motion supports 240 , 480 and 960FPS (for 10 sec., not a 4 sec. gimmick like Samsung phones). Nightscape is getting improved as I told already, with support for Wide Angle Cam. 😀 https://t.co/hH8B49Nxaz
Max J confirms the OnePlus 7T will have a 3800mAh battery and will support Warp Charge 30T. It will also run Android 10 out of the box. Ishan Agarwal adds that Warp Charge 30T charges at 5V 6A and will charge the OnePlus 7T Pro from 0 to 50% in 20 minutes and 0 to 100% in 65 minutes.
The OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro are set to launch on September 26 in India before launching in the US and EU in October. They will also launch in China in October.
Earlier this month, Vivo released its iQOO Pro 5G model in the market, becoming the cheapest 5G handset in China. We were pleasantly surprised to see the phone priced so aggressively and wondered if anyone could release a cheaper 5G model. Turns out, we might actually see a 5G phone that could beat the iQOO Pro and it could be from Xiaomi.
Vivo iQOO Pro 5G is currently the cheapest 5G phone in China
According to the latest news from China, Xiaomi is planning to release its first 5G handset in China in September. It won’t be the Mi Mix 3 5G that launched in Europe a few weeks back. Instead, Xiaomi will have a new 5G model for the Chinese market. The phone has already been teased by the company, which means a ‘September release’ could be in the cards.
What’s more, it is said that the Mi 9S 5G (that’s probably what it’ll end up being called) will be even cheaper than the iQOO Pro 5G that retails for around $530. This would most likely make it the cheapest 5G smartphone in China at launch!
Just like the iQOO Pro 5G model, the Xiaomi Mi 9S 5G is also said to be powered by the new Snapdragon 855+ processor. The phone’s top-end variant could go up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. 48MP triple cameras, in-screen fingerprint sensor, 4000mAh battery, and a 20MP selfie camera are all expected to be the part of the package.
Given that Xiaomi has officially confirmed the existence of this device, we should hear more about it very soon. If Xiaomi does have a 5G handset around $500, would you be interested?
