Latest Zenfone 6 teaser confirms 5000mAh battery, mocks OnePlus 7

The Zenfone 6 is shaping up to be the new flagship killer. Earlier today renders of the phone leaked, revealing the flagship phone will have a notch-less display and motorized dual rear cameras that double as front-facing cameras. Yesterday, ASUS actually confirmed an important feature of the phone via its Twitter account.

The Zenfone 6 has been rumored to pack a 5,000mAh battery and yesterday the Taiwanese manufacturer confirmed the rumors. The new ASUS flagship will indeed pack a massive 5000mAh battery, making it the second flagship phone released this year with such a large battery capacity. The first is the Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone.

ASUS not only confirmed the battery capacity but mocked that of the OnePlus 7 in the same breath. The OnePlus 7 has a 3,700mAh battery which pales in comparison to that of the Zenfone 6′. Even the OnePlus 7 Pro’s 4000mAh battery closes the gap just a little.

OnePlus 6T gets a price cut to $549 after OnePlus 7 Pro launch

OnePlus launched the new OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro yesterday at simultaneous launch events in New York, London and Bengaluru. The new devices carry various new advancements such as the presence of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, triple camera module, UFS 3.0 storage and a new fluid AMOLED display. Unlike the OnePlus 6 launch last year, OnePlus’s old flagship aka OnePlus 6T is still available at stores with a huge discount.

OnePlus 6T Fingerprint Sensor

To leverage the smartphone’s value, OnePlus will reduce the price of 8 GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage version to $549 from $579. Whereas, the 256 GB internal storage variant will be down to $600 from $629. The new pricing will get into effect from May 17 at OnePlus online store.

The OnePlus 6T is the only viable option for the price-conscious buyers as OnePlus 7 won’t make its way to the US. The OnePlus 7 will retail at the same price as the OnePlus 6T, outside the US. It’s a value for money deal for those who always buy old flagships at cheaper prices.

OnePlus 6T is powered with Snapdragon 845 chipset and is available in 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage variants. It features a 6.41-inch display with the resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. There’s a 3700 mAh battery carrying support for Dash Charging technology.

Both the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 7 are identical to each other in terms of design: there’s a dual rear camera, a fixed front camera, and on-screen fingerprint reader. Though, OnePlus 7 is a bit faster as it comes with the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC, UFS 3.0 storage and a 48 MP camera.

Oppo could launch under-display camera smartphone this year

Bringing ultimate viewing experience is the primary goal for most of the smartphone manufacturers since recent times. Different approaches like dew drop notch, pop-up slider are developed to uplift the viewing experience on smartphones. The Chinese smartphone maker – Oppo is also coming with a new yet different approach. It could launch a new under-display camera smartphone this year, reveals a popular tipster Ben Geskin via his Twitter account.

However, Mr Geskin also shared an image of an unknown smartphone along with the new announcement. He didn’t mention any other detail about the device. The new phone might come with thin bezels, sliding camera mechanism, and will sport a design similar to devices with pop-up cameras.

Much like the under-display fingerprint sensor, the upcoming Oppo smartphone will feature a new camera underneath the phone’s display. Oppo’s success with the new camera technology will open doors for the vast majority of the smartphone manufactures. It will help them to save the smartphone’s basic design model.

Samsung and a few other manufacturers are also working on a similar technology to hide the front cameras. Samsung’s R&D department vice president stated that “The technology can move forward to the point where the camera hole will be invisible, while not affecting the camera’s function in any way.” Few patents related to the underneath cameras have appeared at the trademark registration offices in some countries.

Only a few months are left before the launch of new hardware later this year.

ASUS ZenFone 6 specs and renders leak reveal flip camera and notch-less display

ASUS will be announcing the ZenFone 6 series tomorrow. The ZenFone 5 mid-range phone and ZenFone 5Z flagship smartphone had arrived with similar design. However, they came with different internals. Hence, rumors are rife that ASUS will be launching the ZenFone 6 as a mid-range phone and there could be a flagship phone arriving with ZenFone 6Z or some other moniker. A Taiwanese tech blog has shared official renders of the ZenFone 6 ahead of its launch. Also, some more images were also shared by popular tipster Roland Quandt. The images reveal that the upcoming ZenFone flagship phone will be equipped with a notch-less and a swivel dual camera setup.

As it can be seen, the ZenFone 6 smartphone is equipped with a massive display that does not feature a notch. The chin of the device is slightly thick compared to the other bezels. An earpiece can be seen on the slim-sized top bezel of the phone.

The ZenFone 6 does not feature a selfie camera. The rear-mounted dual camera sensors can flip towards the front by sliding the display down. The swivel camera module is said to be made out of liquid metal which reduces its weight by 20 percent and increases its strength fourfold. The back panel of the phone is equipped with a pill-shaped fingerprint reader. The brand name of the Taiwanese company can be also seen on the rear. The rear glass has a 3D curved design and with gradient texture.

It appears that the ZenFone 6 will be available in Black and Silver-Blue colors. There is no confirmation on whether the ZenFone 6 and the alleged ZenFone 6Z flagship phone will both be sporting the same design.

It is speculated to be equipped with a 6.3-inch display that offers 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display of the phone is shielded by Gorilla Glass 6. The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform will be powering the smartphone. It is expected to release in variants like 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage.

The swivel dual camera setup of the phone is rumored to be equipped with Sony IMX586 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 13-megapixel superwide lens. The handset is expected to arrive with a 5,000mAh battery that will carry support Quick Charge 4.0 rapid charging technology.

OnePlus 7 Pro flagship smartphone aces in durability tests

The flagship smartphone from China-based OnePlus — OnePlus 7 Pro got launched just a few hours ago and Zack from JerryRigEverything has already put the smartphone through extensive physical tests to check the device’s durability.

It all starts with the scratch test and since the phone uses Gorilla Glass build, it starts getting scratched at a level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale. With level 7, you can start seeing deeper grooves.

OnePlus 7 Pro Durability Test

The pop-up front-facing camera is also protected by glass which won’t get scratched easily but the area surrounding it is made up of plastic, which is more prone to scratches. The phone’s sides are made up of metal, including the SIM card tray, volume rocker, power button, and the alert slider.

The back panel of the OnePlus 7 Pro also comes with Gorilla Glass 5 for protecting it from scratches. The OnePlus branding and wordmark are both placed under the glass so they can’t come off easily.

Now, coming to the burn test, the smartphone’s display performed quite impressively. It didn’t show any dead pixels after around a minute of having an open flame directly applied to it. In comparison, other AMOLED display panels usually last only about 20 seconds until unrecoverable pixel damage occurs.

Even when the glass on top of the display gets damaged by level 7 Mohs, the in-display fingerprint sensor of the OnePlus 7 Pro still keeps working. The phone also performed very well in the bend test, without showing any separation or kinks.

Coming to the specifications, the OnePlus 7 Pro features a 6.67-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED curved display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It comes with a third generation in-display fingerprint scanner as well as support for Face Unlock feature.

Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. As for the rear camera setup, there’s a 48MP f/1.6 Sony IMX586 sensor with OIS and EIS. It is paired with an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom and its own OIS and a 16MP 117° ultra-wide angle camera.

OnePlus 7 Pro

The phone comes with a 16MP pop-up selfie camera. OnePlus says the camera has been tested 300,000 times for durability. It is also the first OnePlus phone with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos sound.

Honor confirms four rear camera sensors on the upcoming flagship Honor 20

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is getting ready to launch its Honor 20 series smartphones at a launch event on 21st May in London. Ahead of the launch, the company has started teasing features of the upcoming phones.

In one such teaser, the company posted an image on Weibo along with the text that reads “Fantastic beauty, four photos”. This confirms that the Honor 20 will indeed come with quad camera setup on the back panel.

Honor 20 Quad Rear Cameras

Earlier, an image of the phone’s back camera setup had leaked online. It revealed that the Honor 20 will have a 48MP Sony IMX586 as the primary sensor, along with a 16MP Super wide-angle lens, a 2 MP third sensor and another 2 MP sensor, possibly for depth sensing.

Honor’s President Zhao Ming also shared a Night Scene photograph on Weibo, which could possibly be taken with the Honor 20 or Honor 20 Pro. However, the branding watermark is blurred so we cannot say for sure. The image has excellent details, noise reduction and has captured a good amount of light.

According to the leaks, the Honor 20 will feature a 6.26-inch IPS-LCD display that skips the notch for a punch hole design. It offers 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and a pixel density of 412ppi.

Honor 20 featured

The smartphone will be powered by the company’s own flagship chipset — HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There will likely be other memory configurations but the above if for Europe.

The benchmark score coming through Geekbench also points to the use of the latest Kirin chipset. On the single core, the device scored 3241 points while on the multicore test, it peaked at 9706 points.

The device doesn’t have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Since the phone comes with an IPS-LCD display, it does not have an in-display fingerprint scanner. Thus, Honor has settled for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as the power button. We have already seen this on the Samsung Galaxy S10e.

Running on Android 9 Pie operating system with Magic UI 2.1 on top, the device will be powered by a 3,750mAh battery that supports 22.5W SuperCharge fast charging technology. The Honor 20 will be available in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue but the pricing information is not yet known.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G edition announced at the UK event

Apart from announcing OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones, OnePlus also announced the arrival of OnePlus 7 Pro 5G edition at the launch event that was held at the U.K. The company confirmed that it will be releasing the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G in the UK later this year. It did not go into details of revealing the tech specs of the phone. Hence, more information on the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is expected to appear as its market release draws near.

The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X50 LTE modem which enables 5G capabilities on the device. The announcement of the 5G edition of the OnePlus 7 Pro was actually a teaser. The X50 LTE modem does not carry support mmWave bands available in Europe. Hence, it appears the OP7 Pro 5G will be arriving with sub-6GHz support in the U.K.

Because of antennas and related components, 5G phones are expected to arrive with larger form factor. However, OnePlus 7 Pro 5G has the same size as its 4G variant. The probable reason behind it is that it is a sub-6GHz device which helps in simplifying its design. OnePlus 7 Pro 5G will be exclusively through EE carrier in the UK. However, the carrier is yet to confirm on when it will be making the 5G network live in the U.K. The handset is expected to be available in Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester.

The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is expected to feature identical specs as its non-5G edition. The OnePlus 7 Pro features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that supports quad HD+ resolution along with 90Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 855 SoC powers the phone with up to 12 GB of RAM. It comes with a maximum storage option of 256 GB UFS 3.0 storage.

The pop-up selfie camera includes a 16-megapixel selfie snapper. The triple camera setup includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens and a 16-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The device is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that carries support for 30W Warp Charge technology. The OnePlus 7 Pro has arrived in three variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage (Mirror Gray), 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage (Mirror Gray and Nebula Blue) and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. These models are respectively priced at £649, £699 and £799 in U.K. In the European markets, these models are respectively priced at 699 euros, 749 euros and 819 euros.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition vs Huawei P30 Pro: Which One Is Better

Can mobile phones replace SLR cameras? That is a question.

SLR cameras can take photos with excellent image quality, while the mobile phones can share the photos immediately, which image quality is good.

One of the attractive reasons of the phone’s camera is its light and portable, therefore, manufacturers continuously improve function and image quality of phone’s camera. Last year, we could know how stunning the multi camera module, which realize the features of depth of field and 2x lossless zoom. This year, manufacturers make smartphones camera module supporting 10x zoom.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition and Huawei P30 Pro support 10x zoom, which are the flagship smartphone coming with their best hardware.

Now, we will do a comparison of OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition and Huawei P30 Pro. Let’s check out.

Most of manufacturers consider how to make sure that the phone’s design keeps slim and support long focus. OPPO and HUAWEI decided to adopt Periscope Camera with horizontal modules, which in order to reduce the phone’s thickness problem caused by ultra-telephoto lens.

Combine main camera, which is good enough to realize digital zoom, with good telephoto lens and amazing wide-angle lens, the complicated camera modules support 10x zoom feature.

Both OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition and Huawei P30 Pro are made up of the most complicated multiple cameras. Although they have similar zoom design, the different algorithm makes them have different image effect.

At the 5x zoom or 6x zoom factor, we found that the effect of OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition is better than Huawei P30 Pro. The details keep well and the brightness is better.

When the zoom exceeds the limitation of the optical lens, and the two smartphones start wo turn on the mixed zoom, there are different image quality for the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition and the Huawei P30 Pro. In the 10x zoom factor, OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition is clearer than Huawei P30 Pro because of the higher sharpening. But if taking photos in the plain indoor condition, the over-sharpening will make the noise obviously.

Another difference between the two smartphones is color casts. OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition is blue cast. In the cloudy day in Shanghai, the blue cast makes the image hierarchically. The Huawei P30 Pro is yellow cast in the auto mode, which is general.

[envira-gallery id=”253311″]

The Huawei P30 Pro has vivid color mode, which can make the images more colorful after turning on, and the mode will increase the automatic exposure factor, which can make the image brighter. However, if turn on the color mode when taking images in the scene of red subject, the color mode will cause the serious color shading, which is unnatural.

The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition also offers color mode, which will make the images more colorful. But it is more cautious than the Huawei P30 Pro color mode. The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition will optimize the contrast and saturation of images.

However, the color mode will make the image latitude lower, and there is a huge difference between the two smartphones. The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition still keeps more dark details at the 6x zoom or 10x zoom factors. Although the image latitude performs generally, it is enough to shoot. While it seems that Huawei doesn’t care about the image latitude. Look at the Huawei P30 Pro 10x zoom sample below, the dark details are almost invisible. The sample of OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition still keeps some of details.

It also seems to be related to the automatic exposure orientation of the two smartphones. The telephoto lens and the wide-angle lens of OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition adopt similar focusing and photometric way, and the exposure performance is well. The telephoto lens and the wide-angle lens of Huawei P30 Pro have different focusing and photometric way. The wide-angle lens performs well, but the telephoto lens is obviously underexposure.

The underexposure can make the images taken by Huawei P30 Pro have higher contrast, but for those users who want to take more details will prefer the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition. The color shading problem can be solved by filter, but the images details cannot be recovered.

Actually, both smartphones perform not well in the focusing aspect.

Therefore, when the two smartphones turn on the telephoto mode, they will offer infinity focus way by default to save focusing time. This is a good way, because people often shoot scenes by telephoto mode, and the infinity focus way is enough to keep the image sharp.

Huawei and OPPO add OIS technology to increase the success rate of telephoto shooting. Actually, they perform well when shooting in daily life with digital image stabilization. Even in a dark room, it is easy to take clear images if you hold the phone stably.

The image quality at the telephoto will drop in low light, so both smartphones have night mode which is to improve brightness and sharpness with multi-frame compositing.

After the accumulation of several generations of handheld night mode algorithms, Huawei has more experience in dealing with urban night scenes than OPPO. For example, look the samples below, the detail retention and brightness of Huawei P30 Pro is better than OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition which opens night mode.

[envira-gallery id=”253316″]

The night mode is not suitable for all scenes. Look at the samples below, they show the disadvantage of multi-frame compositing. It can show more details and clear the image, but the images appear stiff. The performance of OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition is more natural.

[envira-gallery id=”253321″]

In fact, the Huawei P30 Pro’s performance is surprising at the telephoto if you don’t consider the night mode’s software algorithms. Its camera module of super wide-angle lens, wide-angle lens and telephoto lens shows three different performances. Look at the samples below, can you believe that they are taken by the phone in automatic mode?

[envira-gallery id=”253326″]

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition is more uniform, it provides the same exposure factor and color representation, and when manually turn on the night mode, the overall details and picture exposure performance has improved.

It is worth mentioning that OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition and Huawei P30 Pro are capable of doing over 10x zoom, OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition achieves maximum 60x zoom, and Huawei P30 Pro achieves maximum 50x zoom. However, the two features are based on 10x mixed zoom and then digital zoom, so it is hard to take beautiful images at the maximum zoom factor.

Overall, we believe that the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition is superior to Huawei P30 Pro in the telephoto with better resolution, automatic exposure and color performance. When both smartphones don’t be turned on night mode, OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition still has good images with detail retention, which is enough to shoot. The night mode of Huawei P30 Pro can bring brighter image in some of scenes, but it often shows some stiff images.

Conclusion:

Both Huawei P30 Pro and OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition are a reflection of the current progress in smartphone technology. Through the ingenious mechanical structure, OPPO and Huawei break the optical barrier and combine zoom with lightness.

Do you think which is better?

OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro hands-on photos gives us a closer look at the new flagships

After months of leaks, the OnePlus 7 series is finally official. The two phones – the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro – are the Chinese phone maker’s offerings for the first half of this year. Going by tradition, they should be refreshed six months from now.

OnePlus 7 Pro Almond hands on 06

We were able to attend the launch in India and as is the norm with phone launches, the devices are usually always available for a hands-on experience after the main event. We have got some hands-on photos of these new flagships to share with you.

OnePlus 7 Pro

The OnePlus 7 Pro is the more popular model as it is OnePlus’s contender in the big league. This is Oneplus’ attempt to prove that it can hold its own against the big players such as Huawei’s P30 Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy S10. It has some pretty cool features such as a 90Hz 1440p curved AMOLED display. The screen is gorgeous and smooth and color reproduction is good. However, the fact that it is curved means it is also pretty fragile.

[envira-gallery id=”253298″]

Compared to other flagships, the OnePlus 7 Pro is thick. It measures 8.8mm at its thickest point which is a lot when compared to the Galaxy S10+ which is 7.8mm and even packs a slightly bigger battery. The Huawei P30 Pro which has a bigger battery than all three even manages to keep its thickness at 8.4mm. The OnePlus is also the heaviest at 206 grams.

There are three color variants – Almond, which looks more like white depending on the light with a rose gold frame; Mirror Grey; and Nebula Blue, a personally preferred color variant. On the sides of the phone are black antenna lines which stick out on the Almond variant.

The phone has a USB Type-C port at the bottom flanked by the SIM tray on the left and a speaker grille on the right. The power button and Alert Slider are on the right while the volume rocker sits on the left. The hole where the selfie camera retracts into along with a noise-canceling microphone is at the top.

On the back lies the triple camera setup which has a slight bump. The back is all glass and it curves to meet the frame too. This is a slippery device, so a case is highly recommended or your new phone is going to get cracked really soon. OnePlus has a bunch of cases. There is a Sandstone Case as well as a Karbon Case. You can purchase these along with the phone or use the clear one that is included in the box. Anyone you want, just put a case on it.

OnePlus 7

The OnePlus 7 (red) was also on display and even though it has fewer features, this color variant stands out in a good way. That red really does pop! The phone has a camera bump too like the Pro model but there are just two cameras here. The bottom is home to two grilles – one for the microphone and another for one of the stereo speakers. The second one doubles as the earpiece and is housed in a pretty long slit above the display.

We are really digging the red OnePlus 7 and India is pretty lucky to be one of two countries getting it. However, we feel the phone could have turned out better with respect to its design.

If you erroneously call the OnePlus 7 the OnePlus 6T, you can’t be blamed. OnePlus was really lazy with the design as both phones are nearly identical with similar dimensions and even similar specs (battery, display size). The OnePlus 7 seems to be an afterthought and we think it is a lazy attempt at making a successor to the OnePlus 6T.

The least they could have done is changed the display – replacing the waterdrop display with a punch-hole display. This singular design change is enough to make the difference so that those picking up the OnePlus 7 don’t feel like they are purchasing a OnePlus 6T with a new processor and new cameras.

OnePlus 7 arrives with less fanfare for those on a budget

When a manufacturer announces a new phone with a Pro or Plus model, the standard variant usually gets very little attention. This is what happened today during the OnePlus event. The OnePlus 7 Pro got all the attention while the OnePlus 7 got only a brief mention.

The OnePlus 7 is for those on a budget. Those who don’t fancy a 90Hz display, are fine with dual rear cameras and don’t mind having a notch in their phone’s display. These are the features of the OnePlus 7.

The screen is a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution. There is a waterdrop notch at the top of the screen for the selfie camera and it has the same third-generation in-display fingerprint scanner as the Pro version. Performance should be the same on both devices. It is powered by the Snapdragon 855 with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

The camera is another place where both phones differ. The primary camera on the OnePlus 7 is the same Sony IMX586 sensor but with a slightly smaller f/1.7 aperture (f/1.6 on the Pro). There is OIS and EIS on the main camera and it is paired with a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor. The camera modes include Nightscape, Portrait,  Studio Lighting, UltraShot, and Super Resolution.

The selfie camera is a 16MP Sony IMX471 f/2.0 sensor with support for face Unlock, Screen Flash, and Face Retouching. The front camera can record 1080p videos at 30fps and also time-lapse videos.

The OnePlus 7 packs a smaller 3700mAh battery with 20W fast charging like the regular OnePlus 6T. It has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth 5.0, and support for aptX and aptXHD, LDAC, and AAC. There is NFC, dual-frequency GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi, dual SIM support, and a USB Type-C port.

The OnePlus 7 runs OxygenOS 9.5 based on Android Pie with Fnatic Mode (available via an OTA), RAM Boost, Video Enhancer, Screen Recorder, Zen Mode and Full-Screen gestures.

OnePlus 7 Pro launches with an amazing display, impressive cameras, and a surprising price

The OnePlus 7 Pro was unveiled today at an event that simultaneously held in New York, London, and Bengalore. The OnePlus 7 Pro is their best phone yet and might as well be one of the best phones released this year. It is deserving of that title in more ways than one. From a spectacular display to super impressive cameras and a price that puts it ahead of the competition.

Design

The OnePlus 7 is covered in glass on both sides. The edge-to-edge display is curved to meet the metal frame and the finish on the back changes depending on the angle light hits it. The phone measures 162.6 × 75.9 × 8.8mm and weighs 206g.

Specs

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a 6.67-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED curved display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. OnePlus has worked hard on this display and believes you will be blown away by it. OnePlus 7 Pro key specs

The Oneplus 7 Pro doesn’t have a notification LED but it has a pretty neat trick called Horizon Light which uses the edges of the display to notify you when there is an alert.

This is the first OnePlus phone with triple rear cameras and those cameras are not for show. The 48MP triple camera setup propels the OnePlus 7 Pro to the No. 3 spot on DxOMark’s mobile phone ranking with an overall score of 111. Only the Huawei P30 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10 5G which both have a score of 112 are ahead of it. The 48MP f/1.6 Sony IMX586 camera has OIS and EIS and is paired with an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom and its own OIS and a 16MP 117° ultra-wide angle camera.

The camera app comes with features such as UltraShot which allows the camera to capture up to 4x more light, Super Resolution, Studio Lighting, and Nightscape mode. The phone can record 4K videos at 60fps and slow-motion videos in 1080p at 240fps and 720p at 480fps.

The phone comes with a 16MP pop-up selfie camera. OnePlus says the camera has been tested 300,000 times for durability. The phone also has a feature where the camera automatically retracts when the accelerometer senses the phone is going to fall. DxOMark has given the OnePlus 7 Pro’s selfie camera a score of 86.

OnePlus 7 Pro stereo speakers

The OnePlus 7 Pro is also the first OnePlus phone with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos audio. It packs a 4000mAh battery with support for Warp Charge 30 which lets you charge your phone from empty to 50% in just 20 minutes via a USB 3.1 GEN1 port. There is also liquid cooling to keep your device’s temperature low when performing intensive tasks such as gaming. There is also a new haptic vibration motor in the OnePlus 7 Pro.

On the software side, the OnePlus 7 pro runs OxygenOS 9.5 based on Android Pie. It brings a new feature called Zen Mode to allow you to take a break from your phone. In this mode, you only have access to the phone and camera app for 20 minutes. OnePlus also says there is a new Fnatic Mode for a world-class gaming experience. At the beginning of the year, OnePlus announced its partnership with e-sports team Fnatic. The Fnatic Mode is one of the results of their partnership.

OnePlus 7 Pro Fnatic Mode

OxygenOS 9.5 also brings a built-in screen recorder, 90Hz app support and improved navigation gestures.

The OnePlus 7 pro will get two years of software updates and three years of security updates. So Android Q and Android Android R are guaranteed. OnePlus also confirmed Android Q beta will be available for the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Sony Xperia 2 CAD renders reveal thin bezels and triple rear cameras (Video)

Sony announced the Xperia 1 flagship powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset at MWC 2019. There are indications that an Xperia 2 flagship will also be released before the end of this year. While this sounds plausible, it is not out of place considering the company aims to improve its standings in phone shipments with improved design. A short video of the Xperia 1 CAD images created by OnLeaks has appeared online. The short video gives us a 360-degree view of the device.

The renders show the device will come with much thinner bezels at the top and bottom edges.  Sony’s new design has seen the company finally ditch its trademark wide bezels for a more streamlined design with ultra-thin bezels. The top bezel is just wide enough to house the selfie camera and speaker.

There is also one at the chin which isn’t too wide. The side bezels are almost non-existent. The rear design is also modified from that of the Xperia 1. The triple rear camera setup is still aligned vertically but the sensors are located at the top left corner instead of the centre.

The specification of the Xperia 2 is certainly not yet in the public domain but the device is expected to feature a 6.2-inch CinemaWide display that will offer an aspect ratio of 21:9 along with a screen resolution of 2880 x 1234 pixels. The handset will be measuring 161 x 70 x 8.1mm. It is rumored to be powered by Snapdragon 855 mobile platform and 6 GB of RAM. It could be fueled by a 3,000mAh battery that will be equipped with support for wireless charging. The handset is unlikely to feature a 3.5mm audio jack and sure, we couldn’t find one on the CAD images.

Sony has a reputation for using IFA Berlin tech trade show for announcing its new phones. Hence, it is speculated that the Xperia 2 will debut in September this year at IFA Berlin 2019. That is still a long time away. SO, we expect to get more details about the device before then.
