Honor 20 posters tease quad cameras

There is still a little over a week before the Honor 20 series’ official launch. The phones will also be unveiled in London, exactly a week after the OnePlus 7 series. While we wait, new posters have surfaced that tease the cameras the phones will have.

These posters not only confirm the number of (rear) cameras on the phones but one of them actually tells us what type of lens each sensor uses.

[envira-gallery id=”252749″]

As you can see in the images above, there are four piercings on the lips and ear, signifying the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro will have quad rear cameras. The images also show us the cameras are arranged in an L-shape.

Honor 20 series poster

The third poster is the one that actually tells us the type of lens each sensor has. The first bubble has a regular picture which represents the standard lens. The second bubble is an ultra-wide angle picture as it shows a wider view of the first image and thus confirms the phones will have an ultra-wide angle lens.

The third bubble has a really close-up picture of a leaf with the background blurred, representing the macro lens. The last bubble shows a close-up view of the two birds in images 1 and 2, confirming the phone also has a telephoto zoom lens.

3D renders reveal iPhone XR 2019 will have dual rear cameras

The iPhone XR launched last year as a cheaper version of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. While it did skip on some features of its more expensive siblings such as using an LCD panel instead of OLED and having a single rear camera instead of two, the iPhone XR uses the same A12 Bionic processor as they do. The phone has been a success and Apple will be following it up with a successor this year. Renders of that successor, currently referred to as the iPhone XR 2019 have been posted online and they reveal what is to come later this year.

The 3D renders are from veteran leaker @OnLeaks and this time he has partnered with India’s Pricebaba. The renders show that Apple will once again be going with bright colors for the iPhone XR 2019 as they show the phone in blue, yellow, and red. There is also a white variant.

[envira-gallery id=”252730″]

Nothing seems to have changed with respect to the front of the phone. It is still a 6.1-inch display and it has a wide notch at the top. Button placements have also not changed. However, when you flip the phone to the back, things get more interesting.

For this year’s model, Apple is adding an extra camera to the iPhone XR. It is still one sensor less than the 2019 model of the iPhone XS which is reported to launch as the iPhone XI, but that extra sensor will up your photography game. The cameras are housed in a square module along with a dual LED flash. The entire back of the phone is covered in glass.

The iPhone XR 2019 will measure 150.9 x 76 x 8.3 millimeters (9.1mm thick with the camera bump). It will be powered by a new chipset expected to be called the A13 Bionic. Unlike last year’s model, it has been reported it will ship with an 18W charger. However, the battery capacity is still unknown.

Huami launches a cheaper Amazfit quick drying T-shirt priced at 99 yuan (~$14)

Xiaomi‘s ecological chain company Huami Technology has launched a new and cheap Amazfit quick-drying T-shirt, priced at 99 yuan ($14).

This shirt is different from the Amazfit quick dry shirt that was launched a while back priced at 129yuan. While that version is made of 100% water-repellent yarn, the new Amazfit cool and quick-drying T-shirt material is made of 55% nylon, 27% polyester fibre and 18% spandex. The special structure of the yarn accelerates the heat dissipation of the fabric and keeps the body dry. The materials used give the fabric soft texture, better elasticity and unlimited flexibility.

The t-shirt design includes a round neck trim which reduces the neck friction. The raglan sleeve style highlights the shoulder line, and the seam stitching uses the 4-pin 6-line stitching process, which is flat and firm and has a laser punching area under the armpit to help dissipate heat. In addition, there is also a reflective logo on the back to enhance the safety of the person wearing the t-shirt is he’s out running at night.

The T-shirt is available in ice blue, Maya ash, and rock red. The sizes are available in S/M/L/XL/XXL/XXXL.

OnePlus confirms OnePlus 7 Pro has a 6.67-inch 90Hz notchless display

One of the key features of the OnePlus 7 Pro is its display. The phone’s notchless AMOLED screen boasts a refresh rate of 90Hz, higher than that of most smartphones. Up until today, OnePlus has kept mum about the refresh rate of the phone. However, it did confirm the exact refresh rate in official teasers sent to tech sites.

Senior Editor for TechRadar, Matt Swinder, shared on Twitter, images of a teaser poster he received from OnePlus. The poster, similar to others we have seen from the manufacturer, confirms the phone indeed has a 90Hz display.

In the poster, OnePlus says the feature isn’t one that was requested by users or one they added because competitors were rumored to be developing it for their phones. The decision was just to provide its users with a 90Hz display because it is better.

OnePlus also confirms the phone’s curved display measures 6.67-inches (measured diagonally) and is completely notchless. Or why make such an awesome display and have the experience hampered by a big black bar, OnePlus says.

Vivo Y3 specs and render leaks, nearly identical to Vivo Y17

A new leak has revealed Vivo has a new mid-range phone in development. The device, which is called the Vivo Y3, shares a lot of its specs and even design with the already announced Vivo Y17.

The Vivo Y3 has a 6.35-inch display with a 1544 x 720 display. The screen is a Halo FullView Display with a 19.3:9 aspect ratio and a waterdrop notch. There is MediaTek’s Helio P35 chipset under the hood and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage.

Vivo Y3

The Vivo Y3, just like the Y17, has triple cameras and the configuration is the same. The main camera is a 13MP sensor and it is paired with an 8MP super wide-angle camera, and a 2MP depth camera. There is an LED flash below the sensors and a fingerprint scanner in the middle. However, it swaps the 20MP selfie camera for an 8MP sensor.

There is a 5000mAh battery under the hood that charges via a MicroUSB port and like the Y17, it should have support for Vivo’s 18W Dual Engine fast charging technology. The Vivo Y3 measures 159.43 x 76.77 x 8.92 millimeters and weighs 190.5 grams.

Sharp Aquos R3 vs Xiaomi Mi 9 vs Meizu 16s: Specs Comparison

Nowadays, most of the flagship Android smartphones always come from the same 5 manufacturers, but there are some exceptions. One of them is the Japanese Sharp which just released the amazing Snapdragon 855-powered Aquos R3. It is known as one of the first dual-notch smartphones and it offers an astonishing specs sheet. We still do not know its listing price, but given that we know all of its specifications, we can compare it with other affordable flagships in order to give you an in-depth idea about its potentialities. For this comparison, we chose Xiaomi Mi 9 and Meizu 16s because we think they are the perfect candidates to compete with the new Sharp’s flagship in a similar price range.

Design

Sharp Aquos R3, Meizu 16s and Xiaomi Mi 9 all come with premium designs as well as great build quality, so it is just a matter of tastes. While Meizu 16s has a notch-less display, Sharp Aquos R3 comes with a dual notch: one is a classic waterdrop notch on the upper side which houses the front camera, while another notch is placed at the bottom and it contains a physical Home key with a fingerprint reader embedded. On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 9 has a classic design with a waterdrop notch. Which one would you pick?

Display

Sharp is a display manufacturer, one of the most famous ones, and it was expectable that the Aquos R3 would come with a stunning panel. Despite it is not an AMOLED display, it manages to show incredibly nice colors thanks to the HDR technology, and it even comes with the highest refresh ratio on the mobile sector: 120 Hz. Last but not least, it comes with a higher Quad HD+ resolution with 1440 x 3120 pixels. Some may not like the dual notch, but the display quality is undoubtedly amazing.

Hardware/Software

The hardware department is the key feature of these handsets. All of them come with the most powerful Qualcomm’s chipset of 2019: the Snapdragon 855. So, you would get similar (and awesome) performances in every scenario. Meizu 16s wins the hardware comparison because it comes in a higher-end memory configuration (that is also available at a higher price, obviously). We are talking about the one with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, while the most expensive configurations of Xiaomi Mi 9 and Sharp Aquos R3 are 8/128 GB and 6/128 GB. All of them come with Android 9 Pie out of the box.

Camera

At least according to the specs on the paper, Xiaomi Mi 9 boasts a more interesting rear camera setup. It has a total of three sensors on the back, including an ultrawide lens and a telephoto lens. On the other hand, Meizu 16s lacks the ultrawide sensor but, unlike the Mi 9, it has both optical and electronic stabilization, as well as a brighter focal aperture. Given that I do not like how dark some photos get when there is a lot of light, I personally prefer the Xiaomi Mi 9.

Battery

Meizu 16s has the biggest battery and, with its 3600 mAh capacity, it provides a longer battery life than both Sharp Aquos R3 and Xiaomi Mi 9. Note that Meizu 16s does not support wireless charging, while Xiaomi Mi 9 and Sharp Aquos R3 do, and the Mi 9 even comes with a very fast 20W charging technology.

Price

In their base variants, Xiaomi Mi 9 and Meizu 16s are currently available with a starting price tag of €450/$505 and €420/$471 (the price of the 16s refers to China), respectively. Regarding the Sharp Aquos R3, we still do not know pricing details. And we do not even know if the Aquos R3 will hit the global market. As we do not know its official pricing, we still can not say which of these phones offers the best value for money. If the price will be similar, this would become a very hard battle. For multimedia lovers and gamers, Sharp Aquos R3 is a more interesting device due to its great display. Meizu 16s’ only advantages are its biggest battery and more storage in the most expensive configuration, but there is not a micro SD slot, (unlike the Aquos R3). Xiaomi Mi 9 looks like the most complete one with its fast wireless charging technology and amazing camera potentialities, but only for people who care about these features.

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro will be unveiled in a few days. There is little we don’t already know about the phone. If you have made up your mind about getting either of the two phones irrespective of their prices, you may be interested in checking out these official cases too.

German blog, Winfuture.de, has published renders of the different cases for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, and like older models, there are multiple varieties to choose from.

New leak reveals Motorola One Vision is powered by Exynos 9609

The Motorola One Vision is an upcoming Android One device from Lenovo-owned Motorola. The phone is a pretty interesting one because of the processor powering it. This time around, Motorola isn’t going with Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon SoCs or MediaTek‘s but Samsung‘s Exynos chipset. More details about the phone have surfaced including some new renders.

Motorola One Vision featured

The Motorola One Vision was originally reported to be powered by the Exynos 9610 but a new report from Winfuture.de says the chipset is actually the Exynos 9609. This SoC is said to be an octa-core processor like the Exynos 9610 but with a lower clock speed – 2.2GHz against’s the 9610’s 2.3GHz. There is no official documentation on the SoC, so we can’t provide more details.

The Exynos 9609 is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage for the European variant of the phone.

There are also new details related to the camera. The Motorola One Vision will have dual rear cameras made up of a 48MP primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization and a 5MP secondary sensor. According to the source, the phone will have a dedicated Night Vision mode for taking better images in low-light environments. It will also have a special camera mode for movie-like recording alongside 4K recording at 30fps and 1080p recording at 60fps.

The Motorola One Vision will have a punch hole display like the Galaxy A8s and inside the hole is a 25MP f/2.0 selfie camera. Winfuture confirms the phone indeed has a 6.3-inch LCD display with a 2520 x 1080 resolution and a 21:9 aspect ratio. This is the same aspect ratio as Sony’s new Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus phones. However, you don’t end up with an unusually tall phone as the One Vision measures 160.1 x 71.2 x 8.7 millimeters.

The rest of the specs includes a 3500mAh battery with TurboPower fast charging. There is NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band Wi-Fi.

ASUS Zenfone 6 Double Slider design reaffirmed in a leaked video

In a bid to revamp its smartphone arm so as to increase its market share, ASUS may have decided on a redesign of its smartphones. The Taiwanese tech giant is billed to release the Zenfone 6 series on May 16 and the flagship will be coming with a somewhat new design in the sense that it is entirely different from the previous Zenfone models. The design of the Zenfone 6 has now been laid bare in a leaked YouTube video that shows the phone from all angles. ASUS Zenfone 6

This isn’t the first time the Zenfone 6 design is appearing online. Earlier on, a tipster from India had shared a number of photos of the Zenfone 6 showcasing the design features. Most spectacular is the slider design which the device will pack. The Zenfone 6 won’t be coming with a notch design but will use a slider design. Interestingly, the slider will slide in two directions (double slider). Sliding the phone upwards opens up a stereo speaker setup while sliding downwards open up the selfie camera. The selfie camera seems to have two flashlights at the top left and right ends of the phone.

At the bottom edge, the phone packs a USB-C port as well as a 3.5mmm audio jack. At the back, the device packs a dual camera setup stacked horizontally at the middle with an LED flash sitting in between the two sensors. Under the camera is the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with a somewhat awkward shape.ASUS Zenfone 6

ASUS is yet to reveal the specifications of the mid-range model.

Survey reveals China has more persons looking to adopt self-driving cars than the US

A recent survey carried out by the Capgemini Institute has revealed that more persons in China are enthusiastic about the emerging self-driving/autonomous car technology than in the United States (US).

The survey had over 5000 respondents and while more than half of the respondents from China showed more positivity about self-driving cars, those from the U.S. and the U.K. are the least excited about the prospect of leaving the driver seat for robotic technology to take up the chauffeur’s duties.

China has set lofty objectives for the take off of autonomous vehicles in the country. Late last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued its “Internet of Vehicles Development Commission”. The document sets 2020 as a milestone for changing from pilot tests to substantial scale adoption of autonomous vehicles. A report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance also showed that the number of Chinese companies with testing permits for self-driving cars had rocketed from zero to 35 in the last 18 months.

In an interview, Markus Winkler, global head of automotive at consultancy Capgemini SE stated thus; “In China, but also in other Asian countries, we are seeing more excitement about ‘the new’ generally. The acceleration in the last few years comes from the government as well.”

On the whole, manufacturers are ramping up their research and development efforts in autonomous vehicles. Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk recently referred to self-driving technology as “transformative” to the electric car manufacturer, in an investor call last week.  Other established automotive companies like Honda Motor Co., Ford Motor Co. and Volkswagen AG are ramping up investment in driverless technologies. General Motors Co.’s self-driving unit this week drew $1.15 billion in fresh investment, valuing it autonomous vehicle arm – GM Cruise LLC at $19 billion.

Now you can add Huawei Share OneHop to older Matebook laptops!

Around April last year, Huawei released the EMUI 8.1 which brought along a new feature called Huawei Share, allowing users to share files swiftly across systems. The Huawei Share was also launched in November for its laptops with the Matebook 13 being the first model to have it. The feature was upgraded to Huawei Share OneHop with the release of EMUI 9.1 and is available on newer Matebook models with NFC. Huawei has now announced that older Huawei Matebook models will also have Huawei Share OneHop.

Of course, the feature uses NFC so Huawei has stated that from May 11, owners of Huawei MateBook X Pro, MateBook X and MateBook D (2018 models) can carry their laptop to a Huawei Customer Service Center to install an NFC tag for free. The NFC tag is a passive device with no power of its own. Accordingly, when one is used, the user touches an NFC enabled device onto the tag. A small amount of power is taken by the NFC tag from the reader/writer to power the tag electronics. For now, seems to be available in China only but we expect Huawei to roll it out globally soon.Huawei Share

Official data shows that the Huawei P30 series can transfer up to 500 photos to a Notebook in 1 minute.

Aggressive and gaming-centric design is definitely one of the distinctive features of the new Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming phone, especially when it comes to the special Camouflage and gradient Blue color variants. Both these variants of the new Nubia gaming flagship will be up for reservations starting from May 13 at 10:00 local time, in China. The display is of 6.65 inches, with 90 Hz refresh ratio and a Full HD+ resolution with 1080 x 2340 pixels. Despite having an AMOLED panel, it doesn’t have an in-display fingerprint scanner. Instead, the biometric sensor is placed on the rear side, under the single rear camera coming with a 48 MP resolution, an f/1.7 focal aperture and 8K video recording (as well as 4K at 60 fps).

Huawei thinks the first affordable 5G mid-rangers will debut by the end of 2020

The world’s first 5G network debuted in South Korea last month. A few weeks after, the first European 5G network was launched in Switzerland, as well as the first three 5G smartphones in the European market. But all of them are expensive flagship phones.

When will we see an affordable midrange device with 5G support in the market? According to Huawei executive Yang Chaobin, that will happen as soon as 2020. The first affordable midrange 5G phones will be available by the end of 2020, a much faster development compared to the previous generations of mobile internet.

Mi Mix 3 5G

Just like 4G networks were faster to spread than 3G networks, the overall 5G development will be even faster than 4G. In order to prove his statement, Huawei’s executive reminded everyone how the first 4G phone took about three years to hit the shelves, while the first 5G phone just needed one year. By the end of 2020, we will start seeing midrange devices with 5G connectivity and, according to Huawei’s executive, in 2021 there may even be entry-level 5G handsets.

Currently, the most affordable 5G smartphone is the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G which is priced €599 in the global market. The first and only 5G phone from Huawei that is actually available to purchase is the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, which carries a price tag of about €800. It is powered by a Kirin 980 chipset paired with a Balong 5000 5G modem which is able to reach speeds up to 6.5 Gbps thanks to mmWave.

However, getting a 5G device right now is not the wisest choice. Their prices are still too high: currently, in most cases, you have to spend about 2x times more as compared to an equivalent 4G phone. Further, 5G networks are still in its early phase and they are available only in a limited number of zones in a few countries.
