Purported Lenovo Z6 (L78121) 3C certification confirms 18W rapid charging

Lenovo has recently launched the Lenovo Z6 Pro flagship phone as the first Z-series phone of this year. Last year, it had launched multiple Z-series phone such as Lenovo Z5, Lenovo Z5s, Lenovo Z5 Pro and Lenovo Z5 Pro GT. The Z5 series phones from 2018 all have model numbers starting with “L78.” The Lenovo Z6 Pro powered by Snapdragon 855 mobile platform has a model number L78051. A new Lenovo phone with model number L78121 has been approved by the 3C agency in China. It reveals that the phone will carry support for 18W fast charging.

A 3C listing of unannounced Lenovo phone with L78121 model number was spotted yesterday. It revealed the charger that will be available for the phone will carry support for 5V/3A, 9V/2A and 12V/1.5A charging. In other words, the phone will carry support for 18W rapid charging. While the listing does not reveal the name of the device, it is being speculated that the L78121 smartphone may go official Lenovo Z6.

The Lenovo Z5 mid-range phone from last year was fueled by Snapdragon 636 mobile platform. The smartphone is equipped with 15W fast charging. It appears that its successor phone will be arriving in the market with support for faster charging. The Lenovo Z6 Pro flagship phone that was announced last month is equipped with 27W rapid charging.

Lenovo is yet to confirm on the existence of the Lenovo Z6 mid-range phone. The smartphone is expected to soon appear on TENAA with its full specs. Speaking of TENAA, a mysterious Lenovo L38111 smartphone had recently appeared on its database with full specifications.

The L38111 phone has a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch and it is powered by 2.2 GHz octa-core processor and up to 6 GB of RAM. It also carries support for 18W fast charging. For photography, it has a 16-megapixel dual camera setup and a front-facing snapper of 8-megapixel. Rumors are rife that it may debut as Lenovo K6 Note (2019).

HiSense King Kong 5 Pro listed online in China, supports 8,000mAh battery with accessory

Last month, HiSense had launched a couple of smartphones in the Chinese market, including the King Kong 5. Now, the company has launched an upgraded version of the same, dubbed as HiSense King Kong 5 Pro.

The smartphone comes with a 6.5-inch IPS HD+ display that features a water-drop notch with 1520 x 720 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SDM439 chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, the smartphone comes with a dual camera setup on the back panel consisting of a 13 MP primary sensor + 5 MP secondary sensor. On the front side, the phone features an 8 MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling. There’s also a fingerprint scanner placed on the phone’s back panel.

Oppo to reduce celebrity endorsements and will focus on large-scale sports events

Oppo, one of the major smartphone manufacturer, had earlier announced that the company has partnered with the Wimbledon Tennis Championship. This makes it the only partners from the smartphone industry as well as the only brand from Asia.

This partnership seems to be a part of the company’s strategy to reach a wider set of audience globally. This makes sense given that the company is currently the fifth largest smartphone manufacturer globally but it’s mostly known in the Asian market.

According to the latest report which cites an Oppo insider, the company is planning to reduce its reliance on the celebrity endorsements and will instead shift its marketing focus towards large-scale sporting events. This seems to be the company strategy for increasing its brand recall value.

However, this does not mean that the company will totally scrap the strategy of celebrity endorsements for its products. It will continue the practice of celebrity endorsement for the select Asian market where it is required.

Earlier, Shen Yi, Vice President of Oppo and President of Oppo China Business Department had said that Wimbledon is working with Wisdom on a global strategy based on the internationalization and operation of the company’s brand and added the signing of Wimbledon is based on the co-operation of global brand level.

According to report released by IDC for the year 2018, Oppo recorded global mobile phone shipments at around 113 million units, with a market share of 8.1 percent, ranking fifth in the world. In the Chinese smartphone market, the company’s shipments totaled 78.9 million units, with a market share of 19.8 percent.

Yesterday, a new OPPO phone with model number PCDM10 / PCDT10 had appeared on the website of China’s TENAA telecom authority. Today, the same phone seems to have appeared on Bluetooth SIG database with CPH1979 model number. The reason behind it that CPH1979 and PCDM10 / PCDT10 bear identical specifications. The images of phone that had appeared on TENAA had revealed that it may arrive as an OPPO Reno series phone. Also, the CPH1979 Bluetooth SIG listing that confirms some of its key specs has revealed that it will be fueled by the Helio P90 SoC.

Purported OPPO Reno Helio P90 Edition Specifications

According to the Bluetooth SIG listing of CPH1979, it comes with a 6.41-inch AMOLED screen and it features a 32-megapixel selfie snapper. It is equipped with 48-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. It is backed by a 4,035mAh battery.

The OPPO CPH1979 runs on ColorOS 6.0 based Android 9 Pie OS. The smartphone carries support for Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The MediaTek MT6779V (Helio P90) SoC that includes a pair of CPU cores working at 2.2 GHz and a hexa-core CPU clocking at 2.0 GHz. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 tech trade show, lesser-known Ulefone Chinese smartphone brand had showcased the Ulefone T3 handset with Helio P90 SoC and punch-hole display. However, the alleged OPPO Reno Helio P90 edition will be the first mainstream phone to arrive with the new SoC.

The PCDM10 / PCDT10 OPPO phone’s TENAA listing also includes the same specs. Through TENAA it has been confirmed that it will be arriving with a waterdrop-style notch display with full HD+ resolution. It will be featuring an in-display fingerprint reader. TENAA listing of PCDM10 / PCDT10 has also revealed that it features 6 GB of RAM and an inbuilt storage of 128 GB.

OPPO CPH1983 Specifications

The OPPO CPH1983 is the other smartphone from the company that has been approved by the Bluetooth SIG body. It features a 6.4-inch display that produces full HD+ resolution. It remains to be seen whether it has a notch-less or a waterdrop-type notch display. The Snapdragon 710 SoC is present under the hood of the device.

Vivo V15 Pro may come in 8 GB RAM version with new color

The Vivo V15 Pro that features a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie camera is the fastest selling V-series phone from the company. In India, the smartphone comes with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Fresh information revealed by 91mobiles states that Vivo may soon launch an 8 GB RAM edition of the V15 Pro in India soon.

At present, the Vivo V15 Pro with 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage is selling for Rs. 28,990. The Vivo executive has claimed that the company may slash its price with the arrival of the 8 GB RAM variant. Also, the Chinese firm will be announcing as many as three new phones in India in this month. It is yet to be ascertained whether the company will be releasing U or Y series smartphones in the country.

Redmi SD855 flagship smartphone could launch on 13th May alongside ‘one more thing’

After Redmi split from its parent company Xiaomi to work independently, the brand has launched five smartphones — Redmi Note 7, Redmi Go, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi 7, and Redmi Y3.

The company’s flagship smartphone powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC has been in the work, as the brand’s president has already confirmed. After several leaks and rumors, it seems that the phone is finally set to make its debut.

According to Weibo account of Tang Mu, General Manager of Xiaomi Smart Hardware Division, the company could launch the Redmi flagship smartphone powered by SD855 SoC at a launch event on 13th May in China.

Further, he notes that the company is also going to launch “one more thing” but what would that be is unknown at this time. Given that he handles smart devices division, it’s likely that the device could be an IoT-powered smart home device.

Yesterday, a protective cover of the Redmi K20 Pro smartphone leaked online, which allegedly is the upcoming Redmi flagship smartphone. It shows that the phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and will have a 48 MP primary camera sensor on the back side.

On May 15, Realme will be announcing its first smartphones in China. The company has recently confirmed that it will be debuting the Realme X smartphone. Rumors are rife that the Realme 3 Pro phone may debut alongside the Realme X phone with a different moniker of Realme X Youth Edition (or Realme X Lite). Through a Weibo post today, Realme has for the first time confirmed some features of the Realme X smartphone.

Realme has revealed that the Realme X will be arriving with a full screen design that will allow it to deliver a screen-to-body ratio of 91.2 percent. Also, it claims that the elevating camera has a life cycle of 200,000 pop ups. It appears that the company will continue to spill information on the different features of the Realme X ahead of its launch event.

Realme X Specifications (Rumored)

Last week, Realme had released its theme song in China. The video featured a notch-less display phone with pop-up selfie camera. This handset is believed to be the Realme X. Realme X images have already appeared through its TENAA listing. However, the listing has only minimum specs of the phone which confirms that it will be arriving with a 6.5-inch display and a 3,680mAh battery (minimum capacity).

Rumors surrounding the phone have revealed that it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 730 mobile platform. The battery of the smartphone could be coupled with VOOC 3.0 flash charging technology. The rear shell of the smartphone may feature a dual camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor that will be assisted by a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The configuration of the pop-up selfie camera is not known yet. The handset is expected to arrive as the first Realme phone with in-display fingerprint reader.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to arrive in three variants of 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. These models are rumored to be respectively priced at Rs. 49,999 (~$720), Rs. 52,999 (~$766) and Rs. 57,999 (~$838). A new report has claimed that it will be also will be available in a 10 GB RAM version. It is expected to release in three color options such as Nebula Blue, Mirror Grey and Almond.

Huawei P30 Pro has been proven to pack an outstanding camera setup that excels when shooting still photos. The device currently ranks among the best camera phone around. Needlessly, the P30 Pro has been receiving some knocks in some quarters for not having the capability to record videos in 4K. Huawei’s VP had even clarified that the company didn’t include that feature because 1080p is just awesome for video recording and also it generates videos that eat up lesser storage space.

A short science fiction movie shot using the 1080p video recording of the P30 Pro has been posted online showing the capabilities of the device. The film titled “Eye of the Future” is the first the film produced by director Peng Yulun with the P30 Pro.

The short film demonstrates the groundbreaking imaging technology of Huawei P30 Pro with a very innovative shooting method. BrandZ’s Top 100 Most Valuable Chinese companies: AliBaba leads, Huawei in Sixth, Xiaomi in eleventh

BrandZ recently released a chart of the top Chinese brands that are competing on the global market and that ranking was headed by Huawei followed by Lenovo with AliBaba, Xiaomi, and Byte Dance completing the top 5. The agency has released yet another chart of the 2019 Top 100 Most Valuable Chinese Brands in the domestic market.

The list shows that Alibaba topped the list to become the most valuable brand in China. The e-commerce giant’s brand value increased by 59% year-on-year to reach $141 billion. Tencent ranked second, with a brand value of US$138.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4%.

Another tech brand on the list is Huawei which was ranked sixth, consistent with last year. Huawei’s brand value was $33.1 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 38%. Search engine giant Baidu came in at number eight spot with a brand value of $26.7 billion, representing an increase of 7% YoY. Jingdong (JD.com) ranked tenth, with a brand value of US$21.1 billion and a year-on-year increase of 45%. Xiaomi is at number 11 with a brand value estimated at $20.6 billion. Interestingly, Lenovo which ranked among the top most valuable Chinese brands operating overseas ranked at a distant 47th position with a value of $2.9 billion.

The list of most valuable brands in China has eleven brands from science and technology, representing 26% of the top 100 brands. A lot of the science and tech brands account for the top 10 Chinese brands recognised globally.

Alleged Indian pricing for OnePlus 7 leaked, 10GB RAM Pro version listed too (UPDATED)

The OnePlus 7 Pro pricing on smartprix has changed. Here is the updated pricing.

A few days ago, we reported the Indian pricing details for the upcoming OnePlus 7 Pro. New info has surfaced that reveals the price of the OnePlus 7. It also mentions two configurations of the Pro version we haven’t heard of before.

The OnePlus 7 was listed on an Indian online store. Along with some key specs of the phone, the listing also includes the price of the device which is stated as INR 38,990 (~$562) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB version. That price is just a little above that of the OnePlus 6T which is INR 37,999 (~$548). There is no mention of another variant.

Alongside the price for the OnePlus 7, the store also listed that of the OnePlus 7 Pro. There is an 8GB RAM + 128GB version priced at INR 45,990 (~$663) and a 10GB RAM + 256GB version priced at INR 51,990 (~$749). This is the first time we are seeing these two variants. However, we advise you to take the prices with a grain of salt.

Google Pixel 3a spec sheet leaks, withholds nothing

The Pixel 3a will be announced tomorrow at Google I/O 2019, and less than 24 hours before the event kicks off, the full specifications of the device have leaked. The leak also includes all the features the phone will have.

Specs

The Google Pixel 3a will have a 5.6-inch Full Screen HD+ OLED display with a 2220 x 1080 resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. It will have the Always-on Display and Always-listening features. Google says the display has a contrast ratio of 100,000:1

The device will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage paired with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 670 octa-core processor and Adreno 615 GPU. There is no mention of a 128GB version nor support for storage expansion.

The Pixel 3a will have a 12.2MP 1.4µm f/1.8 aperture Dual Pixel camera on the back. The camera will have autofocus, dual pixel phase detection, optical and electronic image stabilization, and a 76° field of view. The Pixel 3a will be able to record 1080p videos at 30, 60, or 120 frames per second, 720p videos at 30, 60, or 240 frames per second, and 4K videos at 30 frames per second.

The selfie camera is an 8MP 1.12µm f/2.0 sensor with an 84° field of view. It will be able to record 1080p, 720p, and 480p videos all at 30 frames per second.

There is a 3000mAh battery under the polycarbonate body that supports 18W fast charging and USB-PD 2.0 via a USB 2.0 Type-C port. For connectivity, the Pixel 3a will have a single nano-SIM slot, eSIM support in select markets, a 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth 5.0+LE with support for AptX, AptX HD, and LDAC codecs. The Pixel 3a will also have stereo speakers, a fingerprint scanner on the back, and support for Active Edge.

The Pixel 3a will run Android Pie 9.0 out of the box. Its weight is given as 147 grams and its dimensions as 151.3 x 70.1 x 8.2 mm.

Features

The spec sheet says the phone will be scratch resistant but painting may flak off if it falls. Also, the color of materials such as denim and leather can rub off on the body of the phone.

The Pixel 3a will have Night Vision for flash-free bright and detailed low-light images, an impressive portrait mode, and exceptional sharpness thanks to the moving autofocus feature that is able to focus even moving subjects. Design

All of these phones come with stunning but also very similar bodies. They have wonderful glass backs as well as displays with an incredibly high screen-to-body ratio, thanks to their waterdrop notches. And the differences between them are very marginal. My favorite one is the Huawei P30 Lite because it offers a more compact and thinner body, so it is easier to use with one hand and to keep in a pocket. I think this is the most important thing when it comes to three phones with similar aesthetics.

Display

IPS panel are nothing impressive nowadays, given that AMOLED panels are the trend and they also offer more brilliant colors. These three devices all come with an average IPS panel, but the Huawei P Smart+ 2019 looks slightly better as it offers the more advanced LTPS technology. Both Honor 20 Lite and Huawei P Smart+ 2019 have the same display size and resolution, while the Huawei P30 Lite has a slightly smaller panel.

Specs & Software

Even if we talk about hardware, these handsets do not differ so much. All of them are powered by the midrange Kirin 710 chipset built at 12 nm with a max clock frequency of 2.2 GHz. It can handle almost every app with more than sufficient performances. What makes the difference are the memory configuration: Huawei P Smart+ 2019 is the weakest as it only comes with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The best one is the Huawei P30 Lite because it sports up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage in every variant.

Camera

Huawei P30 Lite is the best camera phone, but only in its most expensive variant. Indeed, in the costlier one, it has a main 48 MP sensor that enhances the level of detail captured in every light condition. Honor 20 Lite and Huawei P Smart+ 2019 have a 24 MP main sensor in each and every variant. Huawei P30 Lite and Honor 20 Lite are the best ones when it comes to selfie cameras as they both have a 32 MP snapper, while Huawei P Smart+ 2019 stops at just 8 MP.

Battery

The battery life of Huawei P30 Lite, P Smart+ 2019 and Honor 20 Lite is average. They all can reach one day on a single charge with moderate use, but they won’t go so farther than that. Huawei P Smart 2019 and Honor 20 Lite have a slightly longer battery life because they come with 50 mAh more than Huawei P30 Lite, but in most of the scenarios, it is not a noticeable difference. On the other hand, Huawei P30 Lite has a way faster charging technology with its 18W power.

Price

Honor 20 Lite is yet to hit the shelves, while Huawei P30 Lite and Huawei P Smart+ 2019 are already available with prices starting from €290/$325 and €350/$390 respectively. Overall, Huawei P30 Lite looks like a more interesting phone due to its better camera department (in the costlier variant), faster charging technology and a more compact design.

Cheetah Mobile’s CM Translator heads to US this month supporting 6 languages

Cheetah Mobile may not have a significant presence in the western world, but the company’s products are being used globally. Some of its apps like Clean Master and Cheetah keyboard are extremely popular among a global audience. However, the company has a keen interest in AI as well. It is well invested in the field of Artificial Intelligence and has developed a number of products like the Greetbot retail robot and the CM translator in partnership with the Beijing based AI company, OrionStar.

Now, the company’s decorated product, the CM Translator is landing on the US shores later this month. The translator was showcased at the Microsoft Build 2019 event today. This will be the international version of CM translator and will come with support for 6 languages including Spanish (Chinese version didn’t support it). English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai are the other five supported languages. The device will retail for $129.99 when it goes on sale later in May.

Cheetah Mobile‘s translator is powered by AI technology from Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services which includes machine learning and TTS capabilities. OrionStar provides the technology for Automatic Speech Recognition.

The CM translator features a one-click design. Once you successfully pair and setup the device with your smartphone, you can long press the button and speak. Release to listen to the translation. It’s extremely portable and can fit in your pocket. Currently, there are two color options available, Black and White. The company claims 24 hours of continuous usage and up to 180 days of standby time.

“CM Translator has been a huge hit in China, so we’re thrilled to bring this handy device to international customers, starting with the U.S.,” said Solomon Lee, VP of AIoT at Cheetah Mobile. “CM Translator’s one-click to translate feature makes it a must-have accessory for overseas travelers and multi-lingual families.”

The CM translator will be demoed at the Azure Cognitive Services booth for Microsoft Build 2019 attendees. Official release date of the device is yet to be revealed.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 might debut with faster than 25W charging

Samsung is already done with Galaxy S series flagship, and the focus is now shifting towards the new Galaxy Note 10 scheduled for the second half this year. The latest Galaxy Note 10 leak unwraps some unknown information. According to multiple sources, the new Galaxy Note 10 is expected to carry faster than 25W charging technology.

Samsung announced 25W fast charging recently for Galaxy A70. The device maker is now working on even a faster charging method. According to famous tipster Ice Universe, the South Korean giant will unveil the powerful charging technique with the new Note series later this year. “You should be thinking bigger. That’s all I can say about it right now but expect to be pleasantly surprised and not disappointed when the charging specs are released publicly,” Ice Universe reveals while talking about the Note 10.

Samsung is supposedly working on a 50W fast charging technology as seen on Oppo Find X Lambhorgini special edition. If Galaxy Note 10 received the support for improved fast charging it will be a significant upgrade over the Galaxy S10 series which carries 18W fast charging.

However, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is rumored to feature quad camera setup and a 4500 mAh battery. Samsung might surprise users with four different models of the Galaxy Note 10 featuring different screen sizes and features as like of Galaxy S10 series.

First look at OnePlus 7 press renders and not a lot has changed

If you have been eagerly waiting to know what the OnePlus 7 looks like, then you are in luck. Press renders of the phone have surfaced and they give us a good look at the upcoming flagship.

The images, which were first covered by Winfuture.de, show the OnePlus 7 doesn’t deviate much from its predecessor, the OnePlus 6T. The OnePlus 7’s display also has a waterdrop notch to house the selfie camera and the size of the bezels seems unchanged too. That isn’t to say there aren’t any differences. For example, the slit for the earpiece is wider now and this is because it also doubles as one of the two stereo speakers.

On the back, the OnePlus 7 is home to dual cameras just like the 6T but these are not the same sensors. The primary camera is a 48MP Sony IMX586, an upgrade from the 16MP primary camera of the OnePlus 6T. To further differentiate it from its predecessor, the LED flash is now a circle and not pill-shaped. It also shares the same housing with the cameras. There is a OnePlus logo below the setup and the word “OnePlus” written further down.

The alert slider and power button remain on the right side while the volume rocker sits on the left. There are two grilles on the bottom flanking the USB Type-C port. One is for the microphone and the other is for the second half of the stereo speakers. The renders show only one color variant – Mirror Black, but there should be more.
