Details of the products the Chinese manufacturer will launch on Wednesday have surfaced on the web thanks to registration pages set up on online retail site, Jingdong.

Of all the phones that launched last week, the OnePlus 6T can be said to be the most popular of them all. The phone is an upgraded version of the OnePlus 6 which was released this year and it brings lots of new features but it also lacks some, the biggest of them being an audio jack.
Apart from the lack of an audio jack, the OnePlus 6T is also missing features such as wireless charging, an IP rating, a notification LED, and an Always-on-Display. OnePlus held an AMA session where it gave reasons for the lack of some of these features.
OnePlus said the removal of the notification LED was because owners could simply lift up their device or tap the display to see if they have notifications even without unlocking the device thanks to the ambient feature called lift up display.
They also said the removal of always-on-display is due to the feature causing a battery drain. The feature was originally present on the OnePlus 6 but was later removed via a software update. OnePlus says it is still considering the “functional value vs power consumption” of this feature before implementing it in future (likely via an update).
When asked about the lack of an IP-rating, Carl Pei said the OnePlus 6T is designed for everyday use and not for “edge cases”. So it will actually survive accidental spills and drops into a puddle since these are issues that might occur every day. However, it won’t survive if you take it diving since it is not an “everyday scenario”.
A few weeks ago, Qualcomm announced a new chipset – the Snapdragon 675, an 11nm chipset specifically designed for gaming phones. News of two new chipsets from the manufacturer that also belong to the mid-range category has surfaced. The chipsets are said to be named SM6150 and SM7150.
According to Winfuture.de, who first reported about the two processors, information on the two chipsets have been seen on Github. Both are octa-core processors but with likely different GPU, CPU cores and or clock speeds. That isn’t all that was discovered about the two SoCs.
SM7150
The SM7150 is obviously the more powerful of the two. It appears the Github repositories contain specs of a test device as Winfuture.de mentions a 12MP + 13MP dual rear camera configuration and a 20MP front-facing camera. The display of the said device is said to be QHD+ which means it has an 18:9 or similar aspect ratio.
Most mid-range phones and upper mid-range phones usually stick to HD+ and FHD+, so it is interesting to see that this device has a QHD+ display. There is no info about the CPU and GPU of the SM7150.
SM6150
The SM6150 test device is said to have the same dual-camera setup on the rear as the SM7150 but a 13MP front-facing camera. It also has a 2160 x 1080 display (FHD+) which is reported as being at least 5.99-inches in size.
In the last period, several companies managed to release very performing devices carrying price tags lower than €200. Smartphones which would be considered cool mid-rangers 1-2 years ago are now sold at more entry-level prices, that is why this is a wonderful period to get a new phone while saving money. Lenovo S5 Pro, Meizu Note 8 and Huawei Honor 8C are among the best alternatives in this price range: go ahead with this comparison if you want to learn more.

Design
The design is the weakest point of these handsets, just like most of the devices sold for less than €200. But they are not ugly. They come with a full metal unibody design and similar looks. So, what you should choose depends on your tastes; we suggest to pay more attention to other specs instead of aesthetics.
Display
There is a very important difference between each of these displays. Meizu Note 8 is the only notchless device in this trio, while Honor 8C is the only to sport a lower resolution, so we do not recommend it if you want to see detailed images on your screen. Lenovo S5 Pro and Meizu Note 8 are more or less at the same level and they sport average Full HD+ IPS panels.
Specs & Software
When it comes to hardware specifications, Lenovo S5 Pro is the winner because of its more powerful SoC and the available memory configurations which do not offer less than 6 GB of RAM. Further, it has better connectivity thanks to a better Wi-Fi module and Bluetooth 5.0.
Camera
The cameras you can find on the Lenovo S5 Pro are the ones which convinced us the most. It has a great dual camera setup on the rear side with a bright f/1.8 aperture and the support to 2x optical zoom which allows zooming without losing detail. And it has a dual camera even on the front side, which supports the HDR technology.
Battery
With its efficient Snapdragon 632 chipset, its HD display, and its 4000 mAh battery, Huawei Honor 8C is the device providing the longest battery life. It is almost impossible to totally discharge it in just one day, even if you use it continuously. But note that it does not have a fast charging technology, so it takes some more time to fully charge it.
Price
Lenovo S5 Pro is definitely the most balanced and powerful handset, and it wins this comparison. You can get it and Meizu Note 8 for about €200/$227 in China, while Huawei Honor 8C was launched with a price tag around €170/$193. The second place goes to Huawei Honor 8C due to its longer battery life and a higher value for money in my opinion, even though Meizu Note 8 has a better display.
When Motorola announced the Moto Z3 we were pretty much disappointed. The phone is practically the Moto Z2 Force with a new and larger display, improved cameras, and a bigger battery. You still get the same Snapdragon 835 processor that powered last year’s flagships, Gorilla Glass 3, and support for Moto Mods.
It appears Motorola had a reason for not releasing a “proper” flagship. There are rumors that this year’s Moto Z series will be the last to have support for Mods as the design language for the series will be changed next year.
The first proof of that change in design is a new wireless charger that has been seen on the website of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). At the moment, Motorola doesn’t have a phone that supports wireless charging (built-in). However, there are some Moto Style shells that add wireless charging support to the Moto Z series.
We believe the next Motorola flagship will have wireless charging built-in instead of via an aftermarket add-on, hence the reason for making a wireless charger.
The wireless charger was certified yesterday and has model number CHR-0661. It is shaped like a disc like most wireless chargers and comes in black. On top, where your phone will lie, is the Motorola batwing logo and on the side is a LED indicator.

In the latest report from The Washington Post, it has appeared that the new smartphones have reduced the battery life upon their comparisons with the older counterparts. It is found that all the major manufacturer has reduced the lifespan of smartphone’s battery rather than Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9, iPhone XR and few other devices.
In a detailed battery life tests, The Washington Post journalist, Geoffrey A has found that the popular smartphones on both the iOS and Android ecosystem have witnessed an enormous decline in the battery life in comparison with their predecessors.
Geoffrey A conducted tests with the Google Pixel 3, Apple iPhone XS and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and various other devices. He found that the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 Xl fares well in the battery life test rather than the Pixel 3 and 3XL. Similarly, Apple iPhone XS missed comparison with the iPhone X. The Cupertino giant managed to perform well with the iPhone XR.
The high-end devices such as iPhone XR and Galaxy Note 9 did best in tests and managed to top the chart. Overall, it is found that devices which are larger have better battery life. In the chart above, you can see that some devices did well than older phones.
As apparatus, Geoffrey A used a light meter to measure the brightness level and a script to navigate websites from top to bottom automatically. Finally, he measured the time for how long it took for each device to drain fully. The chart above will give you all the details of every device.
Well, it is quite interesting to know that manufacturers are deteriorating the battery life with every new launch. We hope from now on, OEMs start learning ways to increase the battery life rather than just stuffing more and more battery capacity to the device.
What do you think? Did your device’s battery life has performed worse than this? Share your views via comments below.
