Galaxy M56 appears on Geekbench with Exynos 1480—weaker than Galaxy M55?

The upcoming Galaxy M56 is shaping up to be a downgrade in terms of performance, swapping the expected Exynos 1580—found in the Galaxy A56—for the older Exynos 1480. Typically, the M series phones mirror their A series counterparts with similar or equal processing power, trimming costs elsewhere. This time, though, the M56’s downgrade has Galaxy fans scratching their heads.

Samsung Galaxy M55
Samsung Galaxy M55

Alleged Galaxy M56 surfaces on Geekbench with Galaxy A55’s Exynos 1480

The Galaxy M56 has been spotted on Geekbench’s database under model number SM-M566B. As per the listing, the phone is powered by the Exynos 1480, a 4nm chip that debuted in last year’s Galaxy A55. This chip includes four Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 CPU cores plus an Xclipse 530 GPU, which is paired with 8GB RAM and Android 15 for the upcoming M series model.

Compare that to the A56’s Exynos 1580—boasting four Cortex-A720 and four Cortex-A520 cores with an Xclipse 540 GPU—or even the M55’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 (Cortex-A710, A510, Adreno 644), and it’s a clear step back. The M55 brought performance and charging boosts last year, but the M56’s chip selection feels like a retreat. Samsung’s M series thrives on budget appeal, yet this move risks alienating upgraders expecting more grunt. The Exynos 1480 trails the 1580’s modern CPU cores and more capable GPU, and even lags the M55’s Snapdragon in certain aspects like sustained gaming performance and power efficiency.

However, it’s also worth noting that the A55’s Exynos 1480 outshone the Snapdragon-powered M55 in real-life use cases, hinting that the M56 might still feel snappier than its predecessor. Samsung’s challenge now is convincing buyers this isn’t a downgrade worth skipping. Will software enhancements and strategic pricing save the model? Remains to be seen. It will largely depend on the combination of software optimization, pricing, and clever marketing. We’ll see when it lands, but for now, it’s surely a puzzling pivot from the M series norm.

Samsung launches its first AI-powered top-load washing machine

Samsung has expanded its AI-powered home appliance lineup with the introduction of the Bespoke AI Top Load Washer, which also integrates AI for “enhanced performance and efficiency”. Previously, Samsung’s AI features were exclusive to front-load washers and dryers. The new model, available in three sizes (21-inch, 24-inch, and 25-inch) and five stylish colors, combines smart functionality with advanced washing performance.

The washer includes three AI-powered technologies

The Bespoke AI Top Load Washer is designed to enhance convenience and efficiency through its SmartThings app integration. It allows users to control and monitor cycles remotely. The washer’s standout features include three AI-powered technologies: AI Energy Mode, AI Vibration Reduction Technology Plus (VRT+), and AI Wash.

AI Energy Mode optimizes power consumption, reducing energy usage by up to 20%, while AI VRT+ analyzes floor conditions and adjusts the machine’s operation to minimize noise and vibrations. The AI Wash system utilizes sensors to detect fabric type, load size, and soil levels and automatically adjusts detergent, water, and cycle intensity for optimal cleaning. For delicate fabrics, it reportedly reduces wear and tear by up to 25% by selecting gentler wash settings.

Beyond AI, Samsung has incorporated its “Ecobubble technology”, which uses BubbleStorm and Dual Storm systems for deeper cleaning. BubbleStorm dissolves detergent into a foam for better fabric penetration, while Dual Storm’s pulsator system ensures thorough mixing of water, detergent, and clothes.

Availability and pricing:

While Samsung has not yet disclosed the pricing, this Bespoke AI Top Load Washer is expected to hit the market soon. It will offer a blend of smart connectivity, energy efficiency, and improved cleaning performance. This launch also reflects Samsung’s AI-focused approach to innovation in home appliances.

Download the iPhone 16 family wallpapers right here

When Apple releases a new iPhone, it’s not just the hardware that gets attention. The accompanying wallpapers often carry subtle design choices that reflect the device’s features. And that’s true with the iPhone 16 lineup as well.

The wallpapers on the new iPhones embed nuanced details that align with each model’s camera system. Take the latest iPhone 16e, for example. It has a single rear camera, and fittingly, its wallpaper features one prominent circle.

The standard iPhone 16s which houses two vertically aligned cameras has a wallpaper with (you guessed it) two stacked circles. And for the iPhone 16 Pro series with triple camera on the back, Apple went with three overlapping circles.

It’s a small but thoughtful touch. The wallpapers subtly mirror the physical attributes of each device. Apple has a long history of sweating the details, and this is just another example of how even something as simple as wallpaper can tie into the broader design language of the iPhone.

That said, here are the official wallpapers of the iPhone 16 series for you to download.

1. iPhone 16e wallpaper

Apple uses the same wallpaper for both the white and black iPhone 16e models. You can also find custom color variations designed independently from Apple. For now, here’s the link to download the official one in high resolution.

2. iPhone 16 / Plus wallpapers

The wallpapers for the vanilla and Plus models are available in five different colors: Ultramarine, Teal, Pink, White, and Black. You can download them here.

3. iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max wallpapers

Last but not least, the iPhone 16 Pro’s wallpapers are available in blue, yellow, orange, and green.

Please Note: When you buy something using the links in our articles, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

4. How to set wallpaper on iPhone

Setting up a new wallpaper on an iPhone is quite easy. Just follow the steps below:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap on the Wallpaper option.
  • Select Add New Wallpaper, and browse and choose the wallpaper you want to set.
  • Tap Add and if you want to apply it to both the Home and Lock screen, select Select as Wallpaper Pair at last.

Sony Xperia 1 VII Renders Reveal 3.5mm Jack & Periscope Camera in Thicker Design

Sony’s upcoming flagship, the Xperia 1 VII, has surfaced in detailed 5K CAD renders and a 360-degree video via XpertPick and tipster OnLeaks, offering the first comprehensive look at the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered device ahead of its expected May launch.

Sony Xperia 1 VII

The design isn’t a huge change. It still has a 6.5-inch screen with thicker bezels on the top and bottom. The top bezel has a 12MP selfie camera. It’s a bit wider and thicker than the last model, measuring 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.5mm, or 11mm at the camera bump. The power button with a fingerprint sensor, volume buttons, and a camera shutter button are all on the right side. The left side is plain. It keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is rare these days, and a microphone on the top.

It has dual front speakers for good sound. The bottom has a SIM/microSD slot, a USB-C port, and another microphone. The back has a vertical camera setup: a 48MP main camera with image stabilization, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP periscope telephoto lens that can zoom from 70 to 200mm. It was previously rumored that all three cameras could feature Sony’s flagship Exmor T sensors, however, that does not appear to be the case as per this report. There are also some extra cutouts, which could be for laser autofocus or more microphones.

As for specifications, the phone is rumored to have the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh or bigger battery with 30W charging. The display is said to return to a 4K resolution OLED after the brand opted for a 1080 x 2340 pixel OLED in the Xperia 1 VI as a cost-cutting measure. The aspect ratio will remain 19.5:9, and the screen will offer a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. It will run on Android 15. The phone is said to start at $1,399, which is pretty pricey. However, these details are based on early speculation, so it’s best to take them with a grain of salt until more concrete leaks emerge closer to the official release.

Samsung is reportedly working on an affordable clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Earlier this week, CAD renders of the device surfaced, offering a first look at its design. Now, GalaxyClub has published a report revealing key specifications of the Fan Edition flip phone. Here’s what to expect from the device.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE specifications (rumoured)

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE CAD renders

According to the publication, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will be powered by the Exynos 2400e chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM. Samsung previously used this chip in the Galaxy S24 FE. This information pertains to the European variant, which carries the SM-F761B model number. It remains unclear whether the US version will feature the same processor or a different one.

For optics, the Z Flip 7 FE is said to feature a 12-megapixel main camera alongside a 10-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. On the front, it will sport a 10-megapixel selfie camera—the same camera setup found on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which debuted in 2023.

While other details remain under wraps, the report speculates that the Z Flip 7 FE could be a rebranded version of the Z Flip 5, upgraded with a newer chipset. It is yet to be confirmed whether the device will retain the 3,700mAh battery found in the Flip 5.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is expected to be a more affordable alternative to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is likely to start at $1,099. The FE model could be priced around $700 in the US.

Samsung could be working on a quad-foldable phone

Samsung has already mastered book-style and clamshell designs and is currently working on several foldable and rollable concepts. Now, a new patent reveals the company’s wildest idea yet: a quad-fold device with three hinges and four panels, pushing the boundaries of foldable tech.

samsung_quad_fold_concept
Samsung quad-foldable phone concept

The patent is titled “ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING BENDABLE DISPLAY

This patent showcases a device with four horizontal panels linked by three hinges, all under a single foldable screen. Accompanying drawings hint at a quad-fold smartphone—Samsung’s boldest concept to date. It’s early days, though; this could be a rough draft, subject to tweaks, or even a strategic patent grab to lock down the idea for a future when the technology and market demand align.

The filing also details a tri-fold phone—it includes three panels, two hinges, with a USB-C port and triple-camera setup. It looks polished and is possibly tied to the dual-hinge tease from Galaxy Unpacked 2025. While this tri-fold feels closer to reality, the quad-fold’s ambition steals the spotlight.

Samsung’s foldable journey started over six years ago, and this patent cements its lead over rivals like Apple, which has yet to enter the foldable space. The South Korean giant’s relentless innovation on the foldable form factor—from the original Galaxy Z Fold to this quad-fold concept—keeps it ahead of its competition.

Nonetheless, it’s worth mentioning that neither the tri-fold nor the quad-fold device have a confirmed launch date, and the latter one might stay a concept for a couple of years before it sees the light of day. But two different variants of the tri-fold were recently been spotted on the GSMA database with model number SM-F9680 (likely Chinese version) and SM-F968N (possibly the South Korean variant), suggesting the availability will be limited to these two countries.

Is OnePlus Red Cable Club worth it?

OnePlus has always prided itself on being more than just a phone brand. It’s built a reputation around community-driven features, aggressive pricing, and a close-knit base of users who feel like insiders.

That sense of community has evolved into the Red Cable Club (RCC), a loyalty program that promises real benefits in exchange for brand engagement. But as with most things in tech, the fine print matters — and RCC is no exception. Depending on where you live, the perks can look very different. So, is it actually worth joining?

OnePlus Red Cable Club

1. RCC in India: Tiered System With Depth

In India — OnePlus’s largest market — RCC is surprisingly robust. The program splits users into four tiers based on accumulated Red Cable Experience Points (RedExp): Explorer, Insider, Elite, and Maestro. These points are earned through purchases and brand engagement, and each tier unlocks deeper benefits.

At the lower end, Explorer members get modest perks like ₹350 off select audio products. But climb the ladder to Maestro status (750,000+ RedExp), and you’ll find meatier rewards: ₹1,000 discounts, priority service, exclusive events, and surprise gifts on your birthday.

There’s also one notable omission — the Indian RCC doesn’t include discounts on smartphones. Discounts are primarily limited to accessories like audio gear, tablets, and wearables. While the fixed-value coupons are nice, they don’t match the savings potential seen in other regions.

2. RCC in the U.S.: Slimmer, But Rewarding

Across the pond, RCC operates on a leaner scale. There are four tiers here too, but the RedExp thresholds are lower — maxing out at 10,000+ points for the Supreme level. The structure is simpler, but so are the benefits. That said, the U.S. version comes with percentage-based discounts on smartphones, which is a major win for device buyers.

Explorer members get 5% off phones, while Supreme members enjoy 10% off — a far more substantial saving than the fixed ₹1,000 coupon offered to Indian users for accessories. For a $799 phone, that’s almost $80 back in your pocket. Members also receive free shipping coupons and access to RCC Member’s Day sales.

While the U.S. RCC lacks the holistic service and support perks previously available in India, its value for device purchases is arguably more impactful — especially for users primarily buying OnePlus phones.

3. So, Is It Worth It?

If you’re already deep in the OnePlus world — buying every new phone, picking up Nord earbuds or a OnePlus Watch along the way — then RCC is a no-brainer. The cumulative discounts and service perks can translate into real savings. And in India especially, the program feels mature and thoughtfully structured, with enough hooks to justify its presence. But if you’re a casual user? The story’s a little different. Not all benefits will align with your needs.

In the U.S., the bar is lower for entry, but the reward ceiling is stronger for core device buyers. Even lower-tier members enjoy decent savings, thanks to percentage-based discounts on phones — something Indian users don’t get. However, India’s RCC still offers community engagement and occasional lifestyle perks, even though its most premium benefits have been phased out.
