Xiaomi is getting ready to launch the Portable Photo Printer 1S in global markets. The device recently appeared on the company’s international website. It prints photos directly from a smartphone using the Mi Home app and ZINK paper.
The printer uses ZINK (zero-ink) technology, which means it doesn’t need ink cartridges. Instead, it heats special paper to activate color crystals. The printed photos have a sticky back and can be placed on surfaces like scrapbooks or phone covers. The box includes five sheets of photo paper.
The 1S supports AR photos. Users can attach a 15-second video or a 60-second audio clip to a photo through the Mi Home app. When scanned with the app, the printed photo plays the linked media. The app also offers editing tools, such as filters, collage layouts, and watermarks with avatars or text.
It connects through Bluetooth 5.2 and supports up to three devices at once. Wi-Fi is not required. It supports image formats like JPEG, PNG, and HEIF, and works with Android 8.0 or iOS 12.0 and newer. AR content is managed through the Mi Home app, with a limit of 100 AR photos per user account.

The printer measures 82mm x 124mm x 22mm and is compact enough to carry easily. Xiaomi says print costs can go as low as 1.98 yuan (about $0.27) per sheet. It’s still unclear if it works with ZINK paper from other brands. Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed a release date or global price yet. In China, the printer sells for 399 yuan (~$55).

Desktop and laptop sales in North America rose sharply in Q1 2025 as buyers moved quickly to avoid possible price hikes tied to U.S. trade tariffs. According to IDC, personal computing sales through distributors reached $4.07 billion, marking a 27.8 percent year-over-year increase. This pushed total IT distribution revenue to $19.9 billion for the quarter, up 7.6 percent from the same time last year.
Desktops saw the highest growth at 35.3 percent. Notebooks rose 26.9 percent, while workstations jumped 49.3 percent. Detachable tablets were the only segment to decline, falling 5.4 percent.
IDC said the surge was mainly driven by uncertainty around U.S. tariff policy. Commercial buyers accelerated orders to avoid expected cost increases. In April, the U.S. announced new tariffs on Chinese goods, including tech products, with rates exceeding 100 percent in some cases. A 90-day enforcement delay has not eased concerns, prompting early purchases across the channel.
Other categories showed smaller changes. Software, which is not impacted by tariffs, grew 13.2 percent year-over-year to $4.5 billion. Key drivers were storage, security, and system infrastructure software, which made up more than half of total software revenue. Network infrastructure was up 1 percent, while AV and services posted small year-over-year declines.
IDC’s chart shows a clear rise in personal computing revenue compared to previous quarters. The spike stands out across all product groups and reflects how policy uncertainty influenced buying behavior.
Analysts expect this trend to be short-term. Sales may decline in the second half of 2025 as early stockpiling slows and tariff enforcement begins.
JBL has launched the Tour One M3 Smart Tx, a new pair of over-ear headphones aimed at travelers. They’re priced at $399 and are available now on JBL’s website and Amazon.
The main feature is the SMART Tx transmitter, a small wireless touchscreen device that connects to in-flight entertainment systems. Xiaomi’s Poco F7 is gearing up for a global spring 2025 release, following the Poco F7 Pro and Ultra, but leaks suggest its battery will shrink to 6,500mAh from the 7,550mAh in its Indian and Chinese variants. Certified in Singapore, this rebranded Redmi Turbo 4 Pro is set to pack a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and a vibrant AMOLED display.
The Poco F7 series is expanding, with the base Poco F7 now certified by Singapore’s IMDA under model 25053PC47G, confirming its global rollout. Initially pegged for an India-only launch after BIS certification (model 25053PC47I), the Poco F7 will hit multiple markets as a tweaked Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. The catch? Its battery drops to 6,500mAh globally, compared to 7,550mAh in India and China, a move echoing Xiaomi’s regional tweaks like the Poco X7 Pro’s 6,000mAh global battery versus 6,550mAh in India.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the Poco F7 boasts a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh and 3,200 nits brightness, ideal for gaming and media. This battery downgrade, likely for cost or regulatory reasons, may disappoint fans, but the F7’s $300-400 price range (based on the F6’s $379) keeps it competitive against the iQOO Z10 Turbo.
To recall, the Poco F6 featured the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 2,400 nits peak brightness, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus on the front, along with a plastic frame and back. It packed a 5,000mAh battery with 90W charging support, a 50MP 1/1.95” main camera paired with an 8MP ultrawide, and an optical fingerprint scanner beneath the display.
With the Poco F7 Pro ($499) and Ultra ($649) launched in March, the F7’s May debut could shake up the mid-range market. Will the smaller battery dent its appeal, or will its vibrant display and capable chip win over global buyers? Only time will tell.
OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 15.0.0.800 for the OnePlus Pad. The update is now live in India, Europe, North America, and other global regions. It is being released in batches, so only some users will get it today, with a wider rollout coming soon. The build number is OPD2203_15.0.0.800(EX01).
The update adds partial screen recording, letting users capture only a selected area of the screen. The Calendar, Notes, and My Files apps also get a refreshed layout that shows more information and improves drag-and-drop support.
New clock widgets have been added, which can show the current time and weather on the Home screen. Super Power Saving Mode has been updated with a new list of default apps and a better way to add more apps to the mode.

Anker has quietly released the Soundcore Liberty 5 earbuds, the direct follow-up to the Liberty 4 from 2022. The new model keeps the stem-style design and flat case, similar to the Liberty 4 Pro.
The Liberty 5 uses Soundcore’s updated ANC 3.0 technology, which claims to deliver twice the voice reduction compared to the Liberty 4 NC. The earbuds come with six microphones to improve call quality.
Battery life is also better. Users can get up to 12 hours of playtime with ANC off and around 8 hours with ANC on. Android’s virtual RAM feature—called RAM Plus on Samsung, Extended RAM on vivo, or Memory Extension on Xiaomi—has sparked debate for years, with many users believing it occupies internal storage. A detailed Reddit post and recent findings bust this myth: virtual RAM, or zRam, doesn’t use storage by default, but confusion persists due to vague explanations from phone makers.

Virtual RAM, a staple on Android devices, is often misunderstood. The toggle to turn on the feature usually includes a disclaimer about storage use, like my iQOO Neo9 Pro says, “The RAM can be dynamically extended by up to 8GB. Some storage space will be taken up,” and my Xiaomi Poco X3 phone says, “Add 1GB of RAM by occupying storage. Use this feature only when there’s enough storage available on your device.”
This fuels the idea that this RAM extension feature sacrifices internal storage, but that’s not the full story, per a Reddit deep dive by PurelyOxified.
How it actually works:
The RAM extension feature relies on zRam, a kernel module that carves out a chunk of system RAM to store compressed data at around 2:1 ratio, squeezing more into less space. It doesn’t touch internal storage by default, despite what the settings menus claim. The catch? If zRam fills up, least-used data can spill into a swap file on storage, using minimal read/write to avoid wear. For example, enabling “8GB+8GB” Extended RAM on my Neo9 Pro occupied 2GB of storage space during the reboot. But it will only be used if zRam maxes out.
This explains why storage is still needed—and shows that manufacturers weren’t lying, just not telling the full story—yet it won’t constantly perform read/write operations. zRam’s trade-off is minor CPU overhead for compression.
Next time you toggle “Extended RAM” or “Memory extension” (or whatever your phone calls it), know that it’s boosting RAM efficiency—not stealing your storage—unless you push zRam to its limits.
GIGABYTE has launched the AI TOP 100 Z890 desktop PC in the US and Canadian markets. Built for both gaming and AI tasks, the system comes with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, Z890 AI TOP motherboard, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 WINDFORCE graphics card. It runs Windows 11 and is ready to use out of the box.

Oppo‘s Reno series is one of its most popular smartphone lineups, especially since these devices target the mid range segment. The Reno phones are more affordable than their flagship lineup but still offer attractive specs and gorgeous designs. With the next gen Reno 14 series being on the horizon, here’s everything we about the upcoming Reno 14 and Reno 14 Pro.
The Chinese tech giant is bringing slight changes in the design elements of the new Reno 14 lineup. The overall look remains the same, but there are slight tweaks in the rear. The camera module in particular is getting touched up with the camera island housing twin oval shaped cutouts for the image sensors.
Apart from this, the front and back remain flat while the corners are rounded. Oppo is rumored to launch the new Reno models with an aluminum alloy frame on the sides for a more robust and premium build. These will likely offer IP68/IP69 rating for superior water and dust resistance.
On the front, the base Reno 14 sports a 6.59-inch LTPS OLED flat display with a 1.5K resolution and high refresh rate. The higher end Reno 14 Pro is expected to feature a taller 6.83-inch LTPS OLED flat panel with a 1.5K resolution and high refresh rate as well (the duo likely gets 120Hz).

Under the hood, both the Reno 14 and Reno 14 Pro is expected to be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC. Unforutnately, the RAM and internal storage configuration is still at large. However, we can assume that the duo will run on the Android 15 OS based ColorOS 15 custom skin out of the box.
Based on what we know so far, the vanilla Reno 14 could be powered by a massive 6,000mAh battery pack, which may support 80W wired fast charging. While the exact capacity is unknown, there are reports of the Pro model having a larger battery pack and 80W wired fast charging support as well.
3. Camera

For photography, Oppo is expected to offer a 50MP primary sensor along with a 50MP telephoto shooter (Samsung JN5) and an 8MP ultra wide angle lens. The front could house a 50MP selfie shooter. On the other hand, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro may feature a 50MP main camera but skip the regular telephoto lens at the back for a more advanced periscope telephoto camera for better quality zoom shots. We can also expect an ultra wide angle lens as well. Just like the base model, the front could featuer a 50MP camera for selfies and video calls.
4. Launch Date
The company has yet to official confirm a launch date for the Reno 14 series. However, it did announce that it will be running promotional installations across three cities in China. These are set to run between 1st to 14th May in Chengdu and Chongqing, and 1st to 28th May in Changsha. Samsung is prepping the Galaxy S25 FE, the fifth model in its S25 lineup, for a late 2025 launch, per GalaxyClub. Codenamed R13 with model SM-S731B, this Fan Edition phone is expected to ship with Android 16-based One UI 8, aligning with Samsung’s foldables debuting in July.
The Galaxy S25 FE, following the S24 FE’s October 2024 release, is shaping up as an affordable alternative to Samsung’s flagship S25 series, launched in January 2025. Exynos 2400e to be reused this year
Unlike the S25 trio’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, the S25 FE will reportedly stick with the Exynos 2400e, the same 4nm chip powering the S24 FE. For those unfamiliar, it’s a trimmed-down version of the Exynos 2400 of the S24 and S24+, which you can read more about here.
The Exynos 2500 (and its 2500e variant) likely isn’t ready yet, which may explain why Samsung is sticking with the 2400e for now. A patent from the South Korean tech giant has revealed a possible Galaxy device that might feature a modular design. The patent was filed with the WIPO and carries the publication number WO/2025/084594 (Via 91Mobiles). Looking at the document, we can see design sketches that showcase a device with what appears to be a replaceable lens system. It lists a device that holds all the components, a lens assembly unit, an image sensor, and a motor/actuator that allows for movement of the lens assembly or image sensor.
This could allow users to adjust focus or zoom, and possibly include stabilization or alignment as well. The replaceable lens is apparently a built in solution, rather than offering an accessory that snaps onto a smartphone like the Vivo X200 Ultra. Users might be able to interchange lenses via magnets. Considering how the new lens system is built, it might allow for improved camera controls while also bringing access to additional replaceable accessories.
