Samsung’s concept laptop with 18.1-inch QD-OLED display transforms into a briefcase

At MWC 2025, Samsung Display showcased its latest innovation: the “Flexible Briefcase”, a foldable laptop concept that doubles as a sleek briefcase. This unique device features an 18.1-inch QD-OLED display with a QHD+ resolution (2,000 x 2,664 pixels), which has a pixel density of 184 PPI.

While the Flexible Briefcase is still in the concept stage, it represents Samsung’s continued exploration for devices that utilize its foldable display tech.

The Flexible Briefcase stands out with its unconventional design, which integrates a briefcase-like housing complete with two handles that meet in the middle when the device is closed. The briefcase also houses integrated power and volume buttons, blending functionality with style.

Impressive display specifications for a laptop

When unfolded, the Flexible Briefcase boasts an 18.1-inch QD-OLED display. The prototype has a 4.5R folding radius, which reportedly ensures reliable operation of the foldable display. The display’s QHD+ resolution OLED with 184 PPI pixel density ensures sharp and vibrant visuals, though it’s slightly lower than the 212 PPI panel of the Galaxy Book4 Ultra.

Despite this slightly lower pixel density, the large screen size and the foldable mechanism make it stand out. This prototype indeed has the potential to become an appealing choice for creators, given it releases as a consumer product.

We have seen some other crazy concept laptops from other brands like Lenovo. One of them includes a solar panel, which can offer you 1 hour of video playback from 20 minutes of charging in direct sunlight. You can read more about this device here.

That said, these are just prototypes, and there’s no guarantee these concepts will hit the sleeves anytime soon. In fact, Samsung has been working on this foldable laptop concept for quite a while. The company patented a design back in 2022, where the laptop folds twice, and offered a glimpse of a concept (called Flex Note) that’s more similar to the Flexible Briefcase. The current prototype looks promising, and we hope it sees the light of the day as a consumer product.

Galaxy A55 users will get One UI 7 beta access soon

Samsung is reportedly expanding its One UI 7 Beta Program to include the Galaxy A55, following its initial rollout for the Galaxy S24 series. A recent leak by tipster Tarun Vats on X reveals that the beta version of Android 15-based One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy A55 has been spotted on Samsung’s server. It suggests that the model soon get access to One UI 7 beta, which is great news for its users.

Samsung Galaxy A55

Beta firmware spotted on the company’s test server

The leaked firmware, with the build number A556EXXU6ZYB6, is for the international version of the Galaxy A55, which suggests that the beta program could be available in multiple countries. Additionally, Samsung has created a dedicated page on its forum for the One UI Beta Program for the Galaxy A55, further fueling speculation about the beta’s release.

While the forum page does not explicitly mention One UI 7.0, it is highly likely that One UI 7 beta (for Galaxy A56) is based on Android 15. The Galaxy A55 launched with Android 14-based One UI 6.1.

Samsung’s rollout of Android 15-based One UI 7.0 has already been delayed by nearly two months compared to previous years. The company claims that the delay is due to major improvements being incorporated into the new software. However, this delay could have a ripple effect, potentially causing Samsung to skip One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1 to ensure the timely release of Android 16-based One UI 8.0.

And for those who are using the phone as a daily driver and are not willing to install a beta software, a stable rollout for this model isn’t coming any time soon. According to a previous report, the One UI 7 beta build for the S23 lineup has also been spotted on test servers, and it won’t receive the stable update before April. So Galaxy A55 users should expect the stable rollout sometime in April, if not in May.

And for those looking for a smartphone upgrade and interested in the Galaxy A series, check out the newly launched Galaxy A56. It’s based on Android 15, and you get One UI 7 out of the box.

Apple iPhone 16e teardown by iFixit reveals easier repairs & better battery replacement

Among the various changes Apple brought to the new “budget” iPhone 16e model, there have also been upgrades in terms of its overall repairability as well. These updates to the design arrive from a teardown video shared by iFixit. So here are all the details.

Apple iPhone 16e improves on repairability

The Cupertino based giant’s products were known for their difficulties in repair. Apple had been notorious for cracking down on third party and self repairs in the past. It has made strides in this regard with its recent models, especially in the iPhones. Now, the iPhone 16e is continuing to improve with hardware design elements like an “electrically released adhesive”. This was first seen on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus.

Apple iPhone 16e
Apple iPhone 16e

In other words, the technology helps make battery replacement easier than before. iFixit demonstrated this by using its VoltClip at 12V, freeing the battery in just 5 seconds. This is also a lot better than the stretch release adhesives that can break off when prying the battery off. In the teardown video, iFixit also noted that they didn’t face any issues with parts pairing, meaning that Apple has loosened software restrictions as well. This is clear progress in the Right to Repair.

To recall, the iPhone 16e also debuted the brand’s C1 model which was also revealed in this teardown video. Apart from this, iFixit gave the device a repairability score of 7 out of 10. They stated that the repairability matches the other iPhone 16 series models as well. Although, iFixit said it’s hard to justify it as an upgrade owing to its price hike and suggests buying refurbished.

Samsung showcases foldable handheld gaming consoles at MWC 2025

At MWC 2025, Samsung unveiled its latest innovation: the Flex Gaming concept. This is a handheld gaming console with a 7.2-inch foldable OLED display, and it aims to revolutionize the gaming industry as a compact handheld that’s easy to travel with.

A new era for handheld gaming could be on the horizon

Currently, handheld gaming consoles like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch come with a bulky design, which makes them quite difficult to carry. Samsung’s Flex Gaming concept addresses this issue by incorporating a hinge and a foldable display, which allows it to fold like a Galaxy Z Flip smartphone.

The Flex Gaming console features joysticks and D-pads on both sides of the display, with a unique cavity design to accommodate the joysticks when folded. It also includes a home button, a button marked with an ‘N’, and a USB Type-C port at the bottom. The lime-like green-yellow color (of the current prototype) adds a vibrant, futuristic touch to the device.

Image: Samsung

While Samsung has not revealed detailed specifications such as resolution, refresh rate, or brightness, the foldable display is expected to be similar to the ones used in Samsung’s foldable smartphones. This, if true, will allow gamers to enjoy an immersive visual experience.

This year’s Flex Gaming concept is a significant upgrade from the model showcased at CES 2023, which featured a flip-open display rather than a foldable one. The new design is more practical and aligns with the growing demand for compact, portable gaming devices.

It’s interesting to see Samsung investing some time and effort in exploring areas slightly out of its business while solving real-world problems.

Redmagic Cooler 5 Launched: 30W Cooling Power, Dual-Mode Design, and Smart Features

Redmagic has launched the Cooler 5 in China, following last year’s Pro version. It is priced at 199 yuan ($27), with a limited-time offer of 169 yuan ($23), and is now available on JD.com. Let’s check out its key specs.

Redmagic Cooler 5

Redmagic Cooler 5 Specifications

The Cooler 5 sports a cutting-edge thermal management system, equipping a peak cooling power of 30W with a stable operation at 24W. Engineered to enhance heat dissipation, it features a custom TEC cooling chip that delivers a 30% improvement in cooling efficiency over its predecessor. This allows it to reduce device temperatures by up to 30°C, preventing thermal throttling and ensuring optimal performance for gaming, streaming, and extended usage.

The RedMagic Cooler 5 comes with an aerospace-grade aluminum heat sink, utilizing a through-type structure that enhances cooling efficiency while maintaining minimal noise levels. It equips a seven-blade high-speed fan that generates powerful airflow, quickly dissipating heat without excessive noise interference. The innovative floating air duct design ensures hot air is directed away from the user’s hands, enhancing comfort during intense gaming sessions.

The cooler features a dual-mode attachment system, supporting both magnetic absorption and a clip-on mechanism. It natively attaches magnetically to iPhone models from the 12 to 16 series (excluding the iPhone 16e), offering a seamless and secure fit. For Android smartphones and other devices, it sports an optional clip-on accessory that ensures universal compatibility. The strong magnetic attachment ensures stability even during vigorous gaming sessions, preventing accidental detachment.

The RedMagic Cooler 5 comes with a physical anti-touch switch, allowing users to turn it on or off instantly without accidental interference. It equips real-time temperature monitoring, adjustable cooling levels, and lighting customization through the RedMagic companion app. While Android users gain full control over temperature adjustments, fan speed, and RGB lighting, iOS users have limited access due to system restrictions.

Sporting a stylish black and transparent design, the RedMagic Cooler 5 maintains a compact form factor, measuring 69 x 59 x 30mm.

In related news, Nubia has globally launched the Flip 2 with a larger cover screen and waterproofing, while the company also introduced the Nubia Neo 3 series, featuring RGB lighting, AI-powered features, and shoulder triggers.

Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro official with Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, Essential Space

After nearly a month of teasers and speculation, Nothing has officially unveiled the Phone (3a) series. The new line consists of the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro—two mid-range devices that share a lot in common, including the chipset, battery, and display.  But when it comes to design and cameras, the differences start to show. Here’s everything you need to know, including pricing and availability.

Nothing Phone (3a) / (3a) Pro Specs and Features

Both the Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro feature a 6.77-inch OLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The touch sampling rate hits 480Hz during everyday use but jumps to 1000Hz in Gaming Mode for near-instant response times.

Brightness also gets a boost — full-screen brightness now reaches 1,300 nits (compared to 1,100 nits on the Phone (2a)), while peak brightness has jumped from 1,300 nits to 3,000 nits.

Nothing Phone (3a) Pro

Under the hood, both devices pack the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, delivering a 33% boost in CPU performance and an 11% improvement in graphics over the Phone (2a), according to Nothing. To manage thermals, the phones come equipped with a 4500mm² vapor chamber, which the company claims reduces temperatures by 23%.

On the software side, Nothing OS 3.1, based on Android 15, keeps things clean and minimal. The update also brings improvements to the Gallery, Camera, and Weather apps.

What’s impressive is that Nothing is promising six years of Android updates and security patches for Phone (3a) series —double the commitment for the Phone (2a) and (2a) Plus.

The devices also bring a new feature called Essential Space. It can be triggered via a customizable button located under the power key.

By default, users can tap it once to quickly capture and send content to Essential Space, long-press to record a voice note, and double-tap to open the library of saved content.

The feature will be available as an early-access preview for Phone (3a) users, where they will also get a preview of upcoming features, including Camera Capture, Smart Collections, Focused Search, and Flip to Record.

A 5000mAh battery powers both models, supporting 50W wired charging.

Key Differences: Phone (3a) vs. Phone (3a) Pro

While both models share a lot under the hood, design and cameras set them apart.

The Phone (3a) borrows its look from the Phone (2a), while the (3a) Pro debuts a fresh design language. The Pro model features a circular camera module with asymmetrically arranged lenses, while both models retain the transparent back and Glyph lighting.  The frames are also completely flat.

Cameras mark another key difference. The (3a) Pro packs a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 50MP periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, which can extend to 6x using TrueLens 3.0 and AI for enhanced image quality. Completing the setup is an 8MP ultrawide camera, while the front houses a 50MP selfie lens.

The Phone (3a) retains the same main and ultrawide cameras as the Pro but swaps the periscope for a 50MP 2x zoom lens. The selfie camera also gets a downgrade to 32MP.

Pricing and Availability

The Nothing Phone (3a) starts at ₹22,999, while the Phone (3a) Pro begins at ₹27,999 in India. Here’s the full pricing breakdown:

Nothing Phone (3a)

  • 8GB + 128GB – ₹22,999 (with bank offers)
  • 8GB + 256GB – ₹24,999 (with bank offers)
  • Color Option –  Black, White, Blue

Nothing Phone (3a) Pro

  • 8GB + 256GB – ₹29,999 (with bank offers)
  • 12GB + 256GB – ₹31,999 (with bank offers)
  • Color Options – Grey and Blak

Rumored Galaxy S26 Ultra upgrades may disappoint you

Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra suggest that the upcoming flagship may only offer subtle upgrades over its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While Samsung fans were hoping for groundbreaking changes, early reports indicate that the S26 Ultra’s improvements might be limited to minor tweaks in design, display, and charging capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra - S Pen
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra – S Pen

Leaked specifications of Galaxy S26 Ultra

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature slimmer bezels, offering a more expansive screen-to-body ratio compared to the S25 Ultra. However, according to tipster PandaFlash X, the highly anticipated under-display camera (UDC) technology will remain exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold lineup. The S26 Ultra will retain the existing punch-hole camera design, with the same 12MP selfie camera and Infinity-O display as the current flagship.

One of the most requested upgrades—faster charging speeds—may not materialize with the S26 Ultra either. Samsung is expected to stick with 45W charging, something Samsung has been using for years. So, at best, the brand will switch to a different charging protocol so that your existing accessory becomes incompatible, and you get to experience the feel of a new adapter.

In fact, the tipster mentioned that it “might be 45w or between 50w”. So, for those with the existing adapter and a plan to upgrade next year, you may feel the need to buy another adapter with extra packaging and added harm to this planet. Not to mention, this decision could (or should) disappoint many users waiting for the Galaxy S26 lineup.

The S26 Ultra will get a chip upgrade, though. It’s rumored to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, with some regions potentially receiving the Exynos 2600. While this promises improved processing power, it remains to be seen how significant the performance gains will be over the S25 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra set a high bar, selling 1 million units in just 21 days in South Korea, thanks to the new Galaxy AI Subscription Club. But it remains to be seen if the successors will achieve the same success.

Waiting for the Galaxy S26 Ultra was previously considered to be a good idea for those who aren’t in urgent need of an upgrade, as this year’s flagships offer only a few minor upgrades. But, if the rumors are true, Samsung’s approach to the S26 lineup isn’t any different.

Vivo S21 Pro could be compact X200 Pro Mini with affordable pricing; Display, chipset details tipped

Vivo surprised smartphone enthusiasts by announcing the Vivo X200 Pro Mini, a powerful flagship phone with a compact design, back in October 2024 in China. The device is available with a starting price of 4,699 Yuan (~$645). A new leak that surfaced on Weibo suggests that the upcoming Vivo S21 Pro could be an affordable alternative to the X200 Pro Mini, as it is also expected to sport a similar compact form factor.

Vivo S21 series key specifications leaked

Alleged Vivo S21 series leak

To recall, the company unveiled the Vivo S20, equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, and the S20 Pro, featuring the Dimensity 9300+ SoC, in December 2024 in China. It is unclear whether the successor lineup will be called the Vivo S21 or S30 series. As per a new leak, the upcoming S-series Vivo phones will have two models, which could be called the S21 and S21 Pro.

It appears that the Vivo S21 will continue to feature a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, similar to its predecessor.

The higher-end model will be equipped with the Dimensity 9300+ chipset. Surprisingly, instead of featuring the same-sized or a larger display, it is tipped to house a 6.31-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if the company dubs it the Vivo S21 Pro Mini instead of the S21 Pro. Like the S20 Pro, its successor may arrive with a sub-3,500 Yuan (~$480) price tag.

The Vivo S21 series is expected to compete with the Honor 400 series and the Oppo Reno 14 series in China. These devices are expected to debut in May.

Infinix has just launched the Infinix Note 50 (4G) and Note 50 Pro (4G) in Indonesia. The brand is expected to introduce other Note 50 models in different markets soon. Meanwhile, it seems that Infinix is working on a gaming-focused Infinix GT 30 Pro, as the first details of the device have surfaced, suggesting its launch may not be far away.

Leaked information reveals that the Infinix GT 30 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch flat AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 1224 x 2720 pixels and a high 144Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it will house the all-new Dimensity 8350-Ultimate chipset.

The GT 30 Pro will be equipped with a 5,500mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. It will be available in three LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage configurations: 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB. The device will come preloaded with XOS 15-based Android 15.

The GT 30 Pro is expected to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor – the Infinix GT 20 Pro, which featured the Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging support.

The leak further reveals that the Infinix GT 30 Pro will sport a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. On the back, it will feature a 108-megapixel main camera with OIS support, accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Finally, the device features L1 and R1 buttons, which could serve as gaming trigger buttons and can also function as shortcut keys for applications.

Infinix is unlikely to reveal any details about the GT 30 Pro soon, as the company is currently focused on the global launch of the Note 50 series, scheduled for later this month. To recall, the GT 20 Pro was unveiled in April, so its successor may debut around the same time next year.

These are the upcoming China-exclusive smartphones

China’s smartphone market is about to get a fresh wave of exclusive releases from some of the biggest names in the industry. Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and OnePlus are all reportedly preparing new flagship and mid-cycle refreshes, most of which are unlikely to make their way to global markets. Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming.

1. Xiaomi 15S Pro

Xiaomi 15 Pro

Xiaomi’s last “S Pro” phone, the Xiaomi 12S Pro, was launched back in 2022, but the company skipped this variant for the 13 and 14 series. That’s set to change with the Xiaomi 15 lineup, as the Xiaomi 15S Pro has been spotted in various leaks.

First revealed in an IMEI listing under model number 25042PN24C and codenamed “dijun,” the Xiaomi 15S Pro was later seen on China’s 3C certification database. The listing confirmed the device will support 90W fast charging, aligning with the standard Xiaomi 15 Pro model. However, it’s unclear whether the 15S Pro will inherit the two-way satellite communication found on the 15 Pro.

Beyond its charging speed, little is known about the 15S Pro’s design and internal hardware. The model number suggests an April 2025 launch window, but Xiaomi has yet to confirm anything officially. Given the precedent set by the Xiaomi 12S Pro, it’s likely that the 15S Pro will remain a China-exclusive model.

2. Oppo Find X8S and X8S Mini

OPPO Find X8

Oppo is preparing to expand its Find X8 lineup with the Find X8S and a smaller Find X8S Mini. The Find X8S is expected to be powered by MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9400 Plus chip. This could give the phone a slight edge in benchmark performance, but the real-world performance will likely stay the same.

The Find X8S will reportedly feature a 6.6-inch display, keeping it in line with the Find X8, while the Find X8S Mini will opt for a more compact 6.3-inch screen.

The X8 Mini’s camera is rumored to have a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x zoom. This setup, interestingly, is the same as the Find N5.

Both the devices are expected to have an 80W wired and a 50W wireless charging. Oppo has yet to confirm if these devices will remain China-exclusive, but given its history with past models, it wouldn’t be surprising.

3. OnePlus 13 Mini

OnePlus 13 Mini

OnePlus is rumored to be working on a compact flagship called the OnePlus 13 Mini. Unlike most compact smartphones that compromise on battery life, the 13 Mini is expected to feature a massive 6,000mAh battery.

The phone will reportedly have a 6.3-inch OLED LTPO display with a 1.5K resolution and narrow bezels. The camera setup is said to include a 50MP Sony IMX906 main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

Powering the device will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and the OnePlus 13 Mini will also support wireless charging, an optical in-display fingerprint scanner, and a glass back. With an expected launch in March or April 2025, the 13 Mini will likely be positioned as a high-end compact alternative for those looking for a powerful phone in a smaller form factor.

4. Vivo X200S

Vivo launched the X200 series in late 2024, and now it’s preparing to release an incremental upgrade in the form of the X200S. The X200S will likely feature the Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset, an overclocked version of MediaTek’s D9400 chip.

The phone is expected to retain a 6.67-inch flat OLED LTPS panel with a 1.5K resolution, and it will also feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. However, aside from the new chipset, most of the hardware is expected to remain unchanged from the X200.

If Vivo follows its past strategy, the X200S is likely to remain a China-exclusive device, much like the X100S before it.

5. Vivo X200 Ultra

vivo x100 ultra

Alongside the X200S, Vivo is also preparing to introduce the X200 Ultra, its top-tier flagship for 2025. The device is expected to come with a new Action Button, which will likely serve as a camera button.

The X200 Ultra’s main highlight will be its camera system. It is expected to feature a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. The primary sensor will reportedly default to a 35mm focal length, and Vivo is also including a custom optical system and an in-house imaging chip for improved software-hardware integration.

For video recording, the X200 Ultra will support 4K 120fps video capture across all focal lengths, a move that could challenge Apple’s Pro series when it comes to seamless focal length transitions.

Other expected features include a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 2K OLED quad-curved display, and a 6,000mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging support.

The device is expected to launch by mid-to-late April, potentially alongside the X200S and a new Vivo flagship tablet, the Vivo Pad 4 Pro. Given that its predecessor, the Vivo X100 Ultra, was a China-exclusive, the X200 Ultra may follow suit.

Vivo Y300i launching soon, specifications, price, release date revealed

The upcoming Vivo Y300i, which bears the V2444A model number, has been listed in China Telecom’s product library before its official launch, providing a glimpse into its specifications, pricing, and release details. While these details are yet to be confirmed by Vivo, the listing suggests the phone will arrive in China soon.

Vivo Y300i variants and price

According to the listing, the Vivo Y300i will be available in three configurations: 8GB+256GB for 1,499 Yuan (~$205), 12GB+256GB for 1,699 Yuan (~$235), and 12GB+512GB for 1,799 Yuan (~$245). The device will be offered in Ink Jade Black, Rime Blue, and Titanium color options. It is expected to launch in China on March 14, but readers should note that the final pricing may vary from the listing.

Vivo Y300i specifications

The phone features a 6.68-inch HD+ LCD display with a 1608 x 720-pixel resolution. It is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset and houses a 6,500mAh battery. As per the 3C certification of the device, it may arrive with support for 44W fast charging. The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel rear sensor and a 5-megapixel front camera. The listing also reveals other features, such as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and NFC support.

Similarities with Vivo Y39 5G

The Vivo Y300i appears to be a rebranded version of the Vivo Y39 5G, which was recently launched in Malaysia. Both phones share identical specifications, except for the front camera, where the Y39 5G has an 8-megapixel sensor. The Y300i is expected to have additional enhancements like NFC and an IR blaster.
