Infinix Note 50 Pro global launch imminent: Grabs Indonesian certification

Infinix might be gearing up for the launch of the Note 50 series soon. These mid range devices are the successors of the Note 40 series. Just a while back, the base Infinix Note 50 was spotted grabbing a certification, and now, even the higher end Note 50 Pro has been sighted in another database. So here’s what we know so far.

Infinix Note 50 Pro spotted on SDPPI certification

Infinix Note 50 series

The company’s upcoming Infinix Note 50 Pro recently visited the SDPPI database carrying the X6855 model number. Unfortunately, the certification listing did not reveal any finer details regarding this smartphone like its specs or availability. However, a recent FCC sighting revealed a lot more details. The Infinix Note 50 Pro will support NFC and arrive with at least one 12GB + 256GB storage configuration.

Design sketches also confirmed a dual tone design with a flat rear panel and large octagonal camera module. To recall, the vanilla Infinix Note 50 was also spotted on the FCC database with the X6858 model number. It was revealed that the device will come in a green and pink color option and have a body that measures 9mm in thickness. The device will also support 45W wired fast charging as well.

Infinix Note 40 5G
Infinix Note 40 5G

So we can expect the more expensive Pro model to also offer similar colors and with a similar if not higher wired fast charging rate. The older Infinix Note 40 Pro came with support for wireless fast charging as well. The brand may release the Note 50 series in multiple models that could include the Note 50, Note 50X, Note 50 Pro, and Note 50 Pro Plus 5G. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stick around for more.

Blackmagic Camera app is now available for the Galaxy S25 and Tab S9 series with exciting new features

Blackmagic Design made its camera app available to several Xiaomi and OnePlus devices last year. Now the company has rolled out an update to its app bringing support for Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones—the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra—as well as last year’s Galaxy Tab S9. This update (version 2.0.0.159) is now available on the Google Play Store and packs a host of new features and improvements, which makes it a must-try for anyone serious about mobile videography.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra - S Pen
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra – S Pen

Blackmagic Camera app is a game-changer for smartphone videography

For those unfamiliar, the Blackmagic Camera app is a game-changer for smartphone videography. It brings professional-grade controls to your smartphone. This is paired with seamless integration with Blackmagic Cloud, and compatibility with DaVinci Resolve for post-production. It’s almost like having a mini film studio in your pocket.

The latest update doesn’t just add support for Samsung’s newest devices though. It introduces seven key improvements. These include the ability to control multiple phones simultaneously, support for Tilta Nucleus USB devices for lens control, and the option to drag-select multiple media clips. There’s even a new German user interface for international users. The update also reportedly includes general performance and stability enhancements.

While Samsung’s native camera app already offers robust features like Pro and Pro Video modes, as well as Expert RAW for photography, the Blackmagic Camera app takes things to the next level. The Galaxy S25 series already supports LOG video recording, which is great for color grading. However, pairing it with Blackmagic Camera’s advanced controls and DaVinci Resolve integration opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

On the hardware front, the Galaxy S25 series doesn’t bring massive upgrades over its predecessors though. The Ultra model does feature a new 50MP ultrawide camera, up from the 12MP one of the predecessors. But that’s about it. The main and telephoto setups are the same as the S24 Ultra.

Future Galaxy Ring may be capable of controlling Samsung’s other devices: Patent

A newly sighted patent from Samsung has just offered us a look into how we might interact with our gadgets through smart rings. Typically, a smart ring is just a seamless health tracking device that blends fashion and technology. But Samsung’s future Galaxy Ring might also have it work as an input device to control other gadgets.

Samsung Galaxy Ring with gesture input might be a game-changer

Samsung Galaxy Ring Patent

The South Korean tech giant filed a patent with WIPO showcasing a smart ring that can control other devices. At the moment, Samsung only has one smart ring under its belt, with the Galaxy Ring 2 reportedly being in development. The original Galaxy Ring could track your heart rate, sleep, and other biometrics and send the info to the connected smartphone in the Samsung Health app.

This is a great way of keeping track of your health, which suits those who do not prefer a smartwatch. However, the patent hints that Samsung might be bringing additional functionality to this formula soon. The patent description and sketches show a smart ring user interacting with other connected devices wireless. It appears that this future Galaxy Ring can communicate between two devices, with the sketches showing a laptop and a tablet.

The patented smart ring can be seen as capable of moving things from one display to another. This functions similar to Apple’s connected ecosystem. Samsung’s S Pen also offered similar functionality, but this appears to be more seamless, especially thanks to the intuitive design of the Galaxy Ring. It is unclear if the brand is actually working on such a product or is just covering all bases but this does appear to be the next step in Galaxy Ring’s evolution.

In 2025, 2 out of 3 new EVs in China will be equipped with Self-Driving technology

China is set to make a major leap in self-driving technology. This year, 15 million new EVs in the country will come equipped with Level 2 (L2) autonomous driving features. Even budget-friendly models priced under 100,000 yuan (US$13,914) will now include basic self-driving capabilities. This rapid growth is driven by the declining cost of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), making high-tech features more accessible to everyday consumers.

By 2025, two out of three new cars in China will have L2 or more advanced autonomous capabilities. L2 systems can control steering, acceleration, and braking but still require driver supervision. More advanced L3+ features, which allow for hands-free driving in certain conditions, are also expanding, though full automation (L4 and L5) is still under development.

How does this impact the auto industry?

China’s EV industry continues to expand, with 22.9 million vehicles delivered in 2024, marking a 5.5% year-on-year increase. The mass adoption of self-driving technology is set to change the global auto industry, with autonomous trucks expected to save Chinese companies 1.8 trillion yuan annually by 2030.

The cost of ADAS has fallen to around 10,000 yuan per unit, and Lidar sensors, essential for mapping surroundings, have dropped from thousands of dollars to just US$200 per unit in five years. As technology becomes cheaper, more automakers are integrating self-driving features into their vehicles.

How does this impact major competitors like Tesla?

While Tesla remains a global leader in self-driving technology, it faces challenges in China. The company achieved record sales in China at the end of 2024 but struggles with fierce competition from local EV makers like BYD. A global EV price war has also impacted Tesla’s profit margins, with Q4 revenue falling short of expectations.

Tesla’s biggest challenge in China is regulatory restrictions. The country does not allow Tesla to transfer self-driving training videos abroad, and US laws restrict AI training in China. These issues have slowed Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) progress in the country.

Despite these challenges, Tesla is advancing its self-driving efforts in other geographies. The company plans to launch unsupervised autonomous driving in Austin, Texas, and other US cities by late 2025. However, its future in China remains uncertain due to economic and political pressures.

With self-driving technology becoming standard in millions of Chinese cars, the country is cementing its position as a leader in the future of autonomous vehicles.

Acefast Acefit Pro hands-on: A stylish and functional open-ear audio experience

The Acefast Acefit Pro (FA001) wireless earbuds feature a unique ear-hook design, transparent case, and open-ear audio technology. These earbuds offer situational awareness, making them ideal for sports and outdoor activities. Here’s a hands-on review covering all the key aspects.

1. Design and Build

Acefast Acefit Pro
Acefast Acefit Pro

The Acefit Pro earbuds have an ultra-lightweight build with a flexible titanium wire ear-hook, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit for long hours. Each earbud weighs 7.9 grams, making them barely noticeable.

The transparent charging case adds a futuristic touch, featuring a digital battery display. However, the plastic (ABS+PC) material is prone to scratches. The case weighs 75.2g, making it slightly bulkier than standard TWS earbuds.

Additionally, the IP54 waterproof rating ensures protection against sweat and light rain, making it suitable for workouts and outdoor use but not for swimming. Its retail package includes the device, a few pieces of paperwork, and a USB cable.

2. Audio and Call Quality

Acefast Acefit Pro
Acefast Acefit Pro

The Acefit Pro is equipped with 20×8mm ultra-linear multi-circuit moving coil speakers, offering a frequency response range of 50Hz–20kHz. The bass is strong, the mids are clear, but the treble could be sharper.

The open-ear design ensures situational awareness, making them great for outdoor activities. However, sound isolation is minimal, so background noise can interfere in loud environments.

Acefast Acefit Pro

For calls, the noise reduction technology helps deliver clear voice transmission, but due to the open-ear design, some ambient noise may leak into calls.

3. Connectivity and Battery Life

Acefast Acefit Pro
Acefast Acefit Pro

The Acefit Pro supports Bluetooth 5.4 + EDR, ensuring a stable connection within a 10-metre range and offering support for SBC and AAC audio protocols. The connection remains strong, with minimal lag during music playback or calls.

According to the brand, the earbuds provide up to 6 hours of music playback at 60 percent volume, while talk time is approximately 5 hours at the same volume level. A quick charge of 10 minutes offers around 2 hours of playback, and the total battery life extends to 25 hours with the charging case. Each earbud houses a 60mAh battery, while the 500mAh charging case allows for three full recharges via USB-C charging.

Acefast Acefit Pro

The charging case features LED indicators to display battery levels. When the charge is below 25%, the first grid flashes, while the second, third, and fourth grids flash at 25-50 percent, 51-75 percent, and 76-99 percent, respectively. Once fully charged, all four grids remain on, and the display shows “OK”. A low battery warning is indicated when the charge drops below 10%, with a red ambient light signalling the need for recharging.

4. Controls and App Support

The touch controls available on the earbuds allow users to play/pause, switch songs, and accept/reject calls with ease. Here’s a list of supported touch controls.

The Acefast app, available on the Android Play Store and iOS App Store, offers basic customization options for the earbuds. It includes three main functions: Light Effects, which allows users to turn the LED lighting on or off; Sound Effects, which provides preset audio modes like Original Sound, Human Voice, Live, Bass, and Custom EQ for a personalized listening experience; and Gesture Controls, which enable users to modify touch controls for better usability.

5. Final thoughts

Acefast Acefit Pro
Acefast Acefit Pro

The Acefast Acefit Pro is a stylish and comfortable option for users who need situational awareness while listening to music or taking calls. With a secure fit, IP54 waterproofing, and stable connectivity, it is well-suited for workouts and outdoor use. However, it lacks active noise cancellation (ANC) and relies solely on passive noise reduction. The limited sound isolation means external noise can interfere, especially in loud environments, which is typical for most open-ear design earbuds. Additionally, the absence of smart wear detection means playback does not auto-pause when the earbuds are removed.

Apart from the Windy Purple edition shown in the images of this post, the Acefit Pro comes in three more shades, such as Rime Grey, Olive Green, and Cherry Blossom.

Huawei and Alibaba cloud integrate DeepSeek AI models

Huawei Cloud has partnered with AI startup SiliconFlow to bring DeepSeek’s AI models to its Ascend cloud service. This partnership makes AI more affordable and accessible. The two main models, DeepSeek V3 (a language model) and DeepSeek R1 (a reasoning model), offer high performance at a lower cost.

Affordable AI Access with DeepSeek

The pricing is competitive, with the DeepSeek V3 model costing only 1 yuan ($0.13) per million input tokens and 2 yuan ($0.26) per million output tokens. The DeepSeek R1 model is priced at 4 yuan ($0.53) per million input tokens and 16 yuan ($2.13) per million output tokens. These affordable rates make AI access more widely available.

AI Independence and Geopolitical Impact

Huawei’s deployment of DeepSeek models reflects China’s push for AI self-sufficiency amid U.S. restrictions on high-end chips. The models run on Huawei’s Ascend AI hardware, reducing dependency on foreign technology. This move strengthens China’s AI ecosystem and positions it as a strong competitor in global AI development.

Alibaba joins the DeepSeek AI wave

Following Huawei’s integration, Alibaba Cloud has also launched DeepSeek AI services on its platform. Users can access these models through the PAI Model Gallery, allowing them to deploy AI without coding. Alibaba Cloud offers both full and distilled versions of the DeepSeek R1 model, providing flexibility for different AI applications.

DeepSeek’s growth and future prospects

DeepSeek AI is gaining popularity in China and the U.S., with Microsoft and Amazon integrating its models into their platforms. While DeepSeek trained its AI models on Nvidia’s H100 GPUs, it now runs inference on Huawei’s Ascend 910C chip. Huawei is also developing the Ascend 920C, expected to match Nvidia’s upcoming Blackwell B200, further improving DeepSeek’s AI capabilities.

DeepSeek’s rapid expansion and integration with major cloud platforms signal China’s growing influence in AI. With cost-effective models and improved hardware, DeepSeek is emerging as a major competitor in the global AI race.

Xiaomi drops software support for these devices: check if yours is on the list

Xiaomi software support

Software updates are crucial. They ensure the device has the latest features, customizations, and advanced security features. Xiaomi smartphones, or any Android smartphone for that matter, also get regular security patches to fix critical vulnerabilities for better protection against security threats.

Losing support feels like a missing piece of the pie. But this is inevitable, as all devices get limited software support — though flagship models typically enjoy longer support than budget ones.

Xiaomi regularly updates its End-Of-Support (EOS) list to include devices that are no longer eligible for future updates (both major updates and security patches). The list has got several new entries, as spotted by Xiaomi Time. Review it below to find out if it’s the time for an upgrade:

  • Redmi Note 11
  • Redmi Note 11 5G
  • Redmi Note 11 SE
  • Redmi Note 11S
  • Redmi Note 11S 5G
  • Redmi 10C
  • Redmi 10 2022
  • POCO X4 Pro 5G
  • POCO M4 Pro

These Redmi and Poco smartphones will not receive any HyperOS or Android updates. They will also not receive any security patch updates in the future.

All the devices on the list are either budget or mid-range phones that typically receive two or three Android updates and up to four years of security patches. Since they have completed their update cycle, Xiaomi has added them to the EOS list.

Also Read: HyperOS 2.0 eligible devices and rollout timeline

What should these users do?

If Xiaomi ends software support for your smartphone, it’s recommended that you upgrade to a newer model that offers longer software support. That’s because newer models generally receive timely security updates, making them more protected against potential threats or any vulnerabilities.

If you decide to keep running the device on older software or security patches, it will become more susceptible to cyber threats. It may not be able to discover newer vulnerabilities, thus becoming prime targets for attackers.

More than security patches, the reason for a smartphone upgrade is major OS releases, which allow us access to exciting new features and plenty of enhancements. They also bring new security and privacy features.

Nvidia’s RTX 5080 and 5090 sold out in minutes—here’s what happened

If you were hoping to get your hands on Nvidia’s shiny new RTX 5080 or 5090 graphics cards that were launched last week, you’re out of luck. Both GPUs sold out across the U.S. in less than an hour after they went on sale, leaving retailers empty-handed. It all happened so fast that people are calling it a “paper launch,” wondering if Nvidia even had enough cards to sell in the first place.

GeForce RTX 5090

One major US system integrator had just one RTX 5090 on launch day

Honestly, we probably should have seen this coming. Before the launch, Nvidia’s head of GeForce community, Tim Adams, warned everyone that the RTX 5080 (Geekbench) and 5090 (3D Mark) would be in high demand and tough to find. But “tough to find” turned into “impossible to find” in no time. Newegg (Electronics Store) said it sold out “within minutes” and called the response “overwhelming.”

Meanwhile, PC hardware YouTuber Gamers Nexus reported that one major US system integrator had just one RTX 5090 on launch day, with a small shipment arriving later. Another company sold out of its 20 cards in three minutes—all through pre-built PCs. Yikes.

Now, retailers are scrambling to restock. Micro Center has a banner on its website telling customers to check back for updates, and U.K. retailer Overclockers UK says it could take two to six weeks for the RTX 5080 and three to 16 weeks for the RTX 5090 to come back in stock. Even the lucky few who managed to snag an RTX 5090 at Best Buy are facing delays. One Reddit user revealed they won’t get theirs until February 21. So, yeah, it’s going to be a while before these cards are easy to find.

According to the January 2025 Steam hardware survey, most people are still rocking RTX 3060s—a GPU that’s two generations old. Sure, current games like Dragon Age: The Veilguard still run fine on older cards, but upcoming titles like Avowed and Monster Hunter: Wilds are starting to recommend 40-series GPUs for features like ray tracing. For a lot of people, this launch felt like the perfect chance to finally upgrade after years of dealing with shortages and sky-high prices during the COVID-19 pandemic. But, well, here we are again.

The prices have also skyrocketed amid production delays, where the RTX 5090 was previously reported to hit a $6000 price tag.

Realme P3 Pro 5G design leaks, though partially

Realme‘s upcoming P3 Pro 5G has been the subject of much speculation, and now, thanks to a leaked image, we have a clearer picture of its rear camera design. Just after Realme officially announced the phone’s impending Indian launch, tipster Mukul Sharma shared an image on X (formerly Twitter) revealing the phone’s design partially.

The leaked image shows the phone inside a protective case, but the camera module is clearly visible. It features a dual-camera setup housed within a circular glass element. The two cameras, accompanied by a circular LED flash, are arranged in a triangular formation at the top of the circle.

The image also reveals some key camera specs: the main sensor is a 50MP shooter with optical image stabilization (OIS), an f/1.8 aperture, and a 24mm focal length. Additionally, the phone in the image appears to sport a bluish hue.

While the design language of the P3 Pro 5G’s camera setup is now clearer, many other details remain unconfirmed. It is rumored to be a rebranded version of the Realme 14 Pro

Expected Specifications

If this is the case, the phone could sport a 6.77-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1B colors, and a peak brightness of 4500 nits. The expected screen resolution is 1080 x 2392 pixels (~388 ppi), with an approximately 90.9% screen-to-body ratio.

The device is also rumored to run Android 15 with Realme UI 6.0, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy (4nm) chipset. Additional features could include stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and USB-C 2.0. The 6000 mAh battery may support 45W wired charging, while the device could offer an IP68/IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.

Samsung Galaxy S25+ stands out from S24+ in ways we didn’t expect

The Samsung Galaxy S25+ might look a lot like its predecessor at first glance—same flat frame, same minimalist back with three camera lenses. But as it turns out, it’s not actually the same phone as last year with just a new chip.

Galaxy S25 plus teardown

Samsung has actually spent some time thinking about how to improve its performance and sustainability further. A recent teardown by YouTuber PBKreviews shows there is a larger VC cooling inside, even though it looks the same as the S24+ from the outside.

The apparent Galaxy S24+ twin boasts a larger heat sink inside

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is already more efficient than the previous generation. But Samsung isn’t taking any chances. While the company hasn’t officially revealed anything about the cooling setup for the base and Plus models, the teardown hints that they might share some tech with the Ultra model, which has a fancy redesigned vapor chamber (VC) for better heat management. It also happens to be 40% larger. So even if this model doesn’t have an “Ultra” on its name, it has the kind of resources required to handle most of the heavy titles available on Android.

Galaxy S25+ vs S24+ VC cooling size

But what about repairability? After all, its a $900 flagship, and no one who is looking for a company’s best wants to deal with broken or non-functional parts. PBKreviews gave the Galaxy S25+ a solid 9 out of 10 for repairability, which is pretty impressive.

Sure, you still have to deal with the glued-back panel, but once you’re inside, things get easier. There are 21 screws to deal with, which might make replacing the battery a bit of a chore, but Samsung has added a larger adhesive tab to make pulling the battery out less of a headache.

Pre-order Samsung Galaxy phones now & get up to $1,250 off + a chance to win $5,000 credit (US only) – https://howl.link/erlejlgnge89i

And if you’re the DIY type, Samsung sells original spare parts directly to consumers, which is a big win for anyone who likes to fix their own gadgets. Sure, phones like the Fairphone 5 are still the kings of repairability, but the Galaxy S25+ shows Samsung is at least heading in the right direction.

Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition may launch this month as the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite phone

In a Weibo post released today, Realme Vice President, President of Global Marketing, and President of China, Chase Xu, has confirmed that a performance-focused GT series phone is launching soon in China. Chinese tech bloggers, including WHY LAB, have claimed that the device will be called the Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition. This upcoming smartphone is expected to cater specifically to young gamers, emphasizing raw performance and an enhanced gaming experience over other features.

Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition incoming

The Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition is expected to share many similarities with the standard GT 7 Pro but with a few notable differences. The device will ditch the periscope telephoto lens found in the GT 7 Pro, opting instead for a dual-camera setup. The rest of its specs will be identical to the GT 7 Pro

The Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition is expected to arrive with a 6.78-inch 8T LTPO Samsung screen with a micro-quad-curved design. It will offer a resolution of 2780×1264 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite, up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM, up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage, and a 6,500mAh battery with 120W fast charging.

In terms of cameras, the Racing Edition is expected to feature a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. For selfies, it will feature a 16-megapixel front camera. To keep the device’s cost low, it may feature an optical-type in-screen fingerprint sensor instead of the ultrasonic one available on the standard GT 7 Pro.

With its focus on speed, performance, and gaming, the Realme GT 7 Pro Racing Edition is poised to compete with devices like the iQOO Neo 10 Pro and OnePlus Ace 5 Pro in China. In fact, the Racing Edition is expected to undercut the Ace 5 Pro to arrive as the most affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite with a pricing of around

There’s a possibility that the Racing Edition may launch alongside the Dimensity 8400 Max-powered Realme Neo 7 SE, which is also expected to launch this month.

Galaxy Watch 5 runs GTA, God of War, Forza Horizon 4 and more at playable frame rates

Here’s something you probably never expected to hear—someone turned their Galaxy Watch 5 into a little gaming console. Yes, this is just a regular smartwatch from Samsung. Reddit user ZenonDesingk recently shared images on the platform showcasing his achievement and the Galaxy Watch 5’s capability. He tested his watch with games like God of War, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and even Forza Horizon 4 (streamed via Steam Link) on the tiny screen.

Here’s how he did it

The gaming options available for the watch reportedly disappointed ZenonDesingk. But he wouldn’t give up on his dream after the first setback. He started exploring ways to push his smartwatch.

At first, he tried the usual methods, like installing APK files via Bluetooth or a browser. But none of that worked. Then he transferred the necessary files from his phone to the watch over Wi-Fi using ADB and Bugjaeger. After a little bit of tweaking which includes adjusting the DPI settings, he successfully installed a PSP emulator. And just like that, the Galaxy Watch 5 became a gaming rig.

The gaming experience

Galaxy Watch 5 managed to achieve a frame rate of around 60fps with games like Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted which is surprising to say the least. Even more demanding titles like God of War was running at around 30 fps. Quite impressive for a smartwatch that was launched almost three years ago, right?

To make it actually playable, ZenonDesingk paired a Bluetooth game controller with the watch. Just imagine placing the watch on a stand in front of your monitor and playing God of War—it’s both ridiculous and impressive at the same time.

The Galaxy Watch 5 was never meant to be a gaming device, and it cannot be without having a larger display and battery. But the fact that it can handle the workload is in itself surprising.
