Comparing Redmi 14C 5G and Vivo T3 Lite 5G

With the rise of affordable 5G smartphones, the Redmi 14C 5G and Vivo T3 Lite 5G have emerged as strong contenders in the budget segment. Both devices aim to deliver excellent value with modern features, but they cater to slightly different user needs. This comparison helps you understand how they differ in terms of design, performance, camera capabilities, and unique features, making it easier to choose the right device for your lifestyle and priorities.

1. Design and Display

Redmi 14C 5g
Redmi 14C 5G

The Redmi 14C 5G and Vivo T3 Lite both feature glass fronts with plastic frames, but the Vivo T3 Lite adds a plastic back and an IP64 water and dust resistance, making it slightly more durable. The Redmi 14C has a splash and dust-resistant build but lacks an official IP64 rating.

In terms of display, the Redmi 14C offers a larger 6.88-inch IPS LCD with a smoother 120Hz refresh rate compared to the Vivo T3 Lite’s 6.56-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. However, the Vivo T3 Lite’s display is brighter, achieving up to 840 nits, making it better suited for outdoor use.

The Redmi 14C stands out for its larger, smoother display, which is ideal for gaming and scrolling. However, the Vivo T3 Lite’s brighter screen and IP64 certification make it better for on-the-go users who prioritize durability and visibility.

2. Specifications

Vivo T3 Lite
Vivo T3 Lite

The Redmi 14C is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (4 nm) chipset, while the Vivo T3 Lite uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 (6 nm). The Snapdragon chipset offers efficient multitasking and power-saving benefits. Both devices have up to 6GB RAM, but Redmi supports UFS 2.2 storage, offering faster read/write speeds compared to Vivo’s eMMC 5.1.

Battery-wise, the Redmi 14C edges out with a larger 5160mAh battery and 18W fast charging, whereas the Vivo T3 Lite has a slightly smaller 5000mAh battery with only 15W charging.

The Redmi 14C is better for heavy users due to its larger battery and faster storage. However, the Vivo T3 Lite’s chipset offers slightly better performance for demanding tasks.

3. Camera

Redmi 14C 5g
Redmi 14C 5G

Both phones feature a 50MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, ensuring good detail and low-light performance. The Redmi 14C only has a single rear camera, while the Vivo T3 Lite adds a 2MP depth sensor for better portrait shots. For selfies, both sport an 8MP front camera, with comparable quality.

While the Redmi 14C provides reliable photography for its price, the Vivo T3 Lite’s additional depth sensor gives it an edge for creative portrait shots.

4. Pricing

The Redmi 14C starts at ₹9,999, while the Vivo T3 Lite is slightly pricier at ₹10,485. Both devices offer good value, but Redmi’s pricing is more accessible for budget-conscious buyers.

Redmi’s aggressive pricing makes it a better deal for users who want strong features without stretching their budget. Vivo, however, justifies its price with added durability and a dual-camera system.

5. Conclusion

Vivo T3 Lite
Vivo T3 Lite

Unique features of the Redmi 14C include its 120Hz display and larger 5160mAh battery, making it ideal for gamers and binge-watchers. The Vivo T3 Lite, on the other hand, stands out with its IP64 rating and additional depth sensor for better photography.

Both phones have their strengths, but the Redmi 14C caters to performance enthusiasts, while the Vivo T3 Lite appeals to users seeking a more versatile and durable device.

Satellite Connectivity: Which Phones Support It and Do You Really Need It?

Satellite connectivity is one of the latest advancements in smartphone technology, offering users the ability to stay connected even in remote areas where traditional cellular networks fail. While this feature has been around for some time now, this technology is mostly seen in premium devices. But how does it work, which phones support it, and do you really need it? Read on to find out.

1. Which Phones Support Satellite Connectivity in 2025?

As of 2025, satellite connectivity isn’t a universal feature but it is slowly being adopted by premium phones. It is currently being offered by a couple of brands, so let’s check them out:

Samsung

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S25 series brought support for satellite messaging. This was initially rumored to arrive with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but it finally made an appearance with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy powered S25 series. But there’s a catch, the company didn’t widely market this feature since it isn’t available to everyone. Samsung only offers satellite connectivity with one satellite operator, Skylo (which is only in partnership in the US with Verizon).

Apple

Apple is another brand that offers satellite connectivity, allowing you to send SOS messages from the iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16 series. The service is more widely available on the newer models, unlike Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series.

Huawei

Huawei first introduced satellite connectivity with the launch of its flagship Mate 50 series. The lineup supported short text messages via the BeiDou satellite network. This was later upgraded to include audio calls in the newer Mate 60 Pro. The newer Pura 70 Ultra supports satellite communication which brings image sharing without an internet connection.

Google

With the Pixel 9 series, Google also joined the satellite communication race. It offers emergency SOS messaging in collaboration with SpaceX’s Starlink system.

Xiaomi

The Chinese tech giant’s Xiaomi 15 Pro, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, and MIX Fold 4 are two models that bring support for two-way satellite communication. So you get access to network access even in remote areas. The upcoming Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to feature this technology as well.

There are a bunch of other brands that also support satellite communication like Oppo (Find X8 Pro Satellite Edition), Nubia (Z60S Pro), Honor (X60), and others.

2. Do You Really Need Satellite Connectivity?

Satellite connectivity isn’t a feature that one would use every day. But depending on your lifestyle, it could be very important. For instance, f you frequently hike, camp, or travel to remote areas, satellite connectivity can be a lifesaver in emergencies. It also ensures that travellers can have some peace of mind in areas with unreliable cellular networks.

However, However, it’s not essential for everyone. The technology serves no purpose to urban users and can bring additional costs to the customers (if the service has a subscription model). Most implementations are restricted to text messaging or SOS alerts since voice calls and internet access have yet to hit the mainstream. So for now, whether you need it depends on how often you find yourself off the grid.

This $10k Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra from Caviar is like nothing you’ve seen before

Caviar, the luxury brand known for its opulent customizations of flagship smartphones, has introduced its latest masterpiece, a collection of custom Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra devices inspired by the ancient symbol of the ouroboros. This launch celebrates the Year of the Snake, blending profound philosophical symbolism with cutting-edge technology and exceptional craftsmanship.

Caviar’s Tribute to the Year of the Snake

The collection, aptly named the “Lunar Year,” features designs rooted in the concept of the ouroboros, a serpent biting its own tail, symbolizing infinity, renewal, and the unity of endings and beginnings. This philosophical emblem holds special significance in Eastern traditions, where the snake represents wisdom, rebirth, and prosperity.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra from Caviar

The flagship model of the collection, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Ouroboros, is a striking example of this blend of art and technology. Its design includes a three-dimensional ouroboros made of 999-fine gold, coiled around a functional hourglass embedded in the phone’s body. The hourglass contains golden particles that flow gracefully, symbolizing the passage of time and perpetual renewal. This luxurious model also features a titanium panel with sleek black PVD coating and golden engravings, exuding both durability and elegance.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra from Caviar

The collection also includes the Dark Ouroboros, a more minimalist take on the theme. This model features a sleek black ouroboros crafted from aerospace-grade titanium and coated with black PVD, a material commonly used in luxury Swiss watches. The titanium panel is adorned with intricate engravings reminiscent of a starry night sky, offering an aura of mystery and sophistication.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra from Caviar

For those seeking even more extravagance, the “Infinity” model takes the ouroboros design to another level. Inspired by the shape of a clover, the ouroboros on this model is crafted with 24K gold plating using advanced Double Electroplated technology. This design is exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro variant.

Pricing

Prices for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Ouroboros collection start at $10,490 for the base model with 256GB storage. The 512GB and 1TB variants are priced at $10,840 and $11,200, respectively.

The Dark Ouroboros model, limited to 99 pieces, is available at $13,910 for the 256GB version, going up to $14,630 for the 1TB option. The Infinity model, exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro starts at $10,130 for the 128GB variant.

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 Review: the price makes it a great first foldable phone

Foldable phones are no longer a futuristic concept—they’re here, and they’re becoming more accessible. If you’ve been curious about owning a foldable phone but haven’t taken the plunge yet, the Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 might just be the perfect device to start with. Here are 10 reasons why this phone could be your ideal entry into the world of foldables:

1. Affordable Price Point

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2

The Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 is one of the most affordable book-style foldable phones on the market. Priced at Rs 79,999, it undercuts competitors like Samsung, OnePlus, and Vivo by a significant margin. For those who want to experience the foldable form factor without breaking the bank, this phone is a great option.

It was announced with a price tag of Rs 79,999 for the sole 12GB+512GB variant at launch. Now, the price of the device has increased to Rs 99,999. However, with Rs 20,000 coupon, it can still be purchased for the same Rs 79,999 price tag. It comes in Karst Green and Rippling Blue color editions.

2. Premium Design and Build Quality

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2

The Phantom V Fold 2 flaunts a sleek and modern design, with a vegan leather back that feels premium and offers a comfortable grip. The rectangular camera module and minimalist branding add a touch of elegance, while the aerospace-grade hinge ensures durability. The front screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It’s a well-built device that doesn’t feel cheap despite its lower price.

3. Minimal Display Crease

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2

One of the biggest concerns with foldable phones is the visible crease on the screen. Tecno has made significant improvements here—the crease on the Phantom V Fold 2 is less than 0.1mm thick and is barely noticeable when using the phone. Whether you’re reading documents or watching videos, the crease won’t distract you.

4. Impressive Displays

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2

The phone features a 7.85-inch AMOLED LTPO main display and a 6.42-inch AMOLED cover display, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. The main display offers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and smooth scrolling, making it perfect for multitasking, gaming, or media consumption. The cover display is equally impressive, providing a seamless experience even when the phone is folded.

5. Smooth Multitasking Experience

The Phantom V Fold 2 runs on HiOS 14.5.0 Fold, based on Android 14, which is optimized for foldable displays. The interface makes multitasking intuitive—you can easily switch between apps, use split-screen mode, or drag and drop apps for side-by-side viewing. The UI even provides helpful tips to guide you through these features, making it beginner-friendly.

6. AI-Powered Features

Tecno AI

The Phantom V Fold 2 comes with Ella, Tecno’s digital assistant, which offers a range of AI-powered features. The Smart Service section placed under Tecno AI in Settings gives access to all the AI features available on the device. Some of these include real-time call translation, AI writing, AI subtitles, AI transcribers, and more. Shown below are the wallpapers generated using an AI wallpaper generator.

7. Stylus Support for Productivity

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2

The phone supports the Phantom V Pen, a stylus that enhances productivity. Whether you’re taking notes, editing documents, or sketching, the stylus adds a layer of functionality that’s rare in this price range. It’s a great tool that makes the best use of the Phantom V Fold 2’s massive display. Unfortunately, our review did not come with a style. So, we are not sure how well it works. The V Pen is not included in the retail box. While it is priced at Rs 1,999 on Amazon, it is available for free for the buyers of the Phantom V Fold 2.

8. Decent Camera Performance

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2

For a foldable phone in this price range, the Phantom V Fold 2 delivers solid camera performance. On the back, it features a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS support, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. The rear camera system can capture detailed and color-accurate photos in daylight.

While low-light performance could be better, the cameras are more than capable for everyday use. For selfies, the device is equipped with a 32-megapixel front camera and a 32-megapixel internal camera. The quality of images by these cameras are mediocre, but they are decent enough for video calls.

9. Long Battery Life and Fast Charging

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2

The 5,750mAh battery ensures that the phone lasts more than a day with moderate usage. After all, its packed with the largest battery seen on a foldable phone.

Additionally, the 70W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging mean you can quickly top up the battery when needed. It takes around 55 minutes to achieve a full charge from scratch using the in-box 70W charger.

10. Acceptable Performance

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 on benchmarking apps

The Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 is powered by the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, which, while not the latest in the market, delivers reliable performance for everyday tasks. Whether you’re multitasking, streaming, or gaming, the phone handles it all smoothly. Complementing the processor is 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. However, at this price point, some candy-bar-style flagship phones offer faster UFS 4.0 storage. Shown above is how it performs on benchmarking apps.

What Might Set Buyers Back?

Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 thickness compared with the Oppo Reno 13, which measures 7.2mm in thickness

While the Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 is an excellent entry-level foldable phone, it’s not without its drawbacks. The MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, while capable, is outperformed by newer processors in the same price range. For those who don’t know, last year’s Phantom V Fold also featured the same chip. Probably, the company has decided to use the same chip again to keep the cost of the device low. The good thing is the company has successfully resolved the shortcomings of the previous generation.

The low-light camera performance leaves much to be desired, producing noisy and grainy images. Lastly, the limited software update policy (only 2 years of major OS updates) might deter buyers looking for long-term software support. Additionally, it has a thickness of nearly 12mm in the folded state and weighs 249 grams. While this is typical for foldable phones due to their complex design, it may not appeal to those accustomed to sleeker, more compact smartphones.

Final Thoughts

The Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 is a compelling option for anyone looking to dip their toes into the world of foldable phones. It offers a premium design, impressive displays, and a host of features that make it stand out in its price range. While it has some limitations, its affordability and overall performance make it a great choice for first-time foldable phone buyers. If you’re ready to embrace the future of smartphones without spending a fortune, the Phantom V Fold 2 is worth considering.

iPhone SE 4 video shows the budget phone from all angles

The iPhone 17 line may go through a complete design overhaul, based on the leaks we’ve heard so far. Alongside its flagship models, the Cupertino giant is expected to release a budget-friendly SE smartphone in 2025. While some leaks have referred to it as the iPhone 16E, others suggest it will be called the SE 4.

A new leak from X supports the latter naming and even shows the alleged iPhone SE 4 in a first-look video.

The video reveals the device in white and from both the front and back. Like previous SE models, it has a single rear camera. And while the front isn’t entirely visible, we can make out there’s a notch on the front.

This notch might come as a letdown for some, as previous reports—including one from reliable insider Evan Blass—had hinted that the SE 4 would adopt a Dynamic Island instead.

According to Bu, who responded to a comment on the post, the conflicting leaks stem from Apple having tested a prototype with a Dynamic Island before ultimately opting for a notched design. This choice aligns the SE 4 more closely with the iPhone 14 but with just one rear camera.

The big upgrade, though, is USB-C. It’s not exactly a surprise, given the EU’s mandate for smartphones, but at least we have some confirmation now.

What to expect

The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera. The display is said to measure 6.06 inches—a big jump from the SE 3’s 4.7-inch screen. But there’s a catch: it may still be stuck at 60Hz, which feels outdated when even mid-range Android phones are pushing 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rates.

Apple iPhone SE 4 Design leak video

Under the hood, the SE 4 is expected to pack Apple’s latest A18 Bionic chip, paired with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The modem remains a question mark—it could come from either Apple or Qualcomm.

The design, according to previous reports, includes an aluminum side frame, lining up with reports that Apple is ditching the home button and chunky bezels for a look that matches the current iPhone lineup. And yes, Face ID is reportedly in, finally replacing the Touch ID setup from previous SE models.

Nothing confirms new smartphone launch on March 4th, and it’s not the Phone (3)

Nothing has been gearing up to launch its next smartphone, and after days of cryptic teasers, we finally have a date to mark on our calendars—March 4 at 10:00 GMT / 3:30 PM IST.

The company confirmed the launch via X (formerly Twitter), where it also shared an image that appears to showcase the phone’s camera module. The design features a pill-shaped module with two prominent cutouts, hinting at a possible triple-camera setup for the phone.

It’s likely not the Phone (3)

But here’s where things get interesting: we’re still not sure if this is the highly anticipated Nothing Phone (3) or an entirely different device.

A previously leaked email from Nothing co-founder Carl Pei hints that the company is planning to launch a “landmark smartphone” in Q1 2025. And the language used in the mail suggests this wouldn’t be the Phone (3).

With March being the final month of the quarter, this teaser could very well be for that mysterious new device.

As for the Nothing Phone (3), based on what we know so far, the company plans to launch it sometime in the first half of 2025. Nothing has teased “breakthrough innovations in the user interface” for the upcoming model, suggesting a major software or interaction upgrade.

A recent Geekbench listing hints that the Phone (3) may be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC. The listed device featured 8GB of RAM, scored 1,149 in single-core and 2,813 in multi-core tests, and was running Android 15. Nothing is also expected to introduce a more powerful Phone (3) Pro, likely as the true successor to the Phone (2).

Beyond the chipset, the Phone (3) is rumored to feature a 6.5-inch OLED display and could start at around $600 (₹50,000).

ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra Teased Ahead of Launch: Front Design Revealed

Earlier this month, ASUS confirmed the launch date for the Zenfone 12 Ultra. This upcoming high-end device is set to debut on 6th February 2025. But ahead of its release, the company shared another teaser regarding this device, which offers us a glimpse at the Zenfone 12 Ultra’s front design. So let’s check it out.

ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra Front Design Teased

In an official tweet, the company claims that it has given the Zenfone 12 Ultra a “makeover”, by blending style and technology. Unfortunately, since we only get a look at the front, it’s hard to see these design overhauls. From the front, the Zenfone 12 Ultra appears similar to the Zenfone 11 Ultra with slim bezels around the screen and a center aligned punch hole cutout for the selfie camera.

ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra
ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra

Just recently, the ASUS Zenfone 12 Ultra was also spotted on GeekBench. This benchmark listing confirmed that it will be equipped with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. So you’re getting cutting edge performance. The first teaser also hinted at new AI powered features as well. This processor is paired with 16GB of RAM and the device may run on the Android 15 OS out of the box.

Considering how the Zenfone 11 Ultra was a rebranded version of the ROG Phone 8, we can assume the Zenfone 12 Ultra being a rebranded ROG Phone 9. So we can expect the device to sport a tall 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, 185Hz refresh rate, HDR10, and 2500 nits of peak brightness. A large 5,800mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 65W wired fast charging and 15W wireless fast charging. Other notable features include a 50MP triple camera setup on the rear, a 32MP selfie shooter, stereo speakers, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Xiaomi 15 series or Redmi 14’s India launch could be set for February

The Xiaomi 15 series of flagship smartphones has already made its debut in China. But while an official date for the global launch is still unknown, a fresh report hints that the premium devices or the Redmi 14 5G could be unveiled in India next month.

Xiaomi 15 series or Redmi 14 5G India launch imminent

According to known tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Chinese tech giant is apparently planning on releasing the Xiaomi 15 series or Redmi 14 5G in the Indian market in February. For those unaware, the Xiaomi 15 series consists of the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. Recent rumors have also revealed that the company is working on a Xiaomi 15 Ultra as well as a Xiaomi 15S Pro model.

Xiaomi 15

Notably, the company did unveil the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra variants in India but skipped the Xiaomi 14 Pro. Xiaomi released in the region back in March 2024. So the Xiaomi 15 series could be arriving in the Indian market a month earlier than its predecessor. Unlike these higher end devices, the other device that could launch in India is a budget friendly smartphone from the brand’s subsidiary Redmi.

The Redmi 14 5G is the other model that was talked about in Abhishek’s tweet. As the name suggests, the Redmi 14 5G is a successor of the Redmi 13 5G, which was released in mid-2024. Meaning, that even this model is arriving earlier than expected. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more.

Is POCO skipping POCO F7 Pro & POCO F7 Ultra launch in India?

POCO has been rumored to be working on the POCO F7 series of smartphones. The lineup is expected to consist of the POCO F7, POCO F7 Pro, and POCO F7 Ultra. While all of these devices have been spotted in rumors and certifications, a fresh leak offers some bad news for POCO fans in India.

POCO F7 Series Skipping India Launch in 2025?

The Chinese brand is expected to debut the POCO F7 series soon. But before its official announcement in China, known tipster Yogesh Brar claimed that the POCO F7 Pro and POCO F7 Ultra will not be launching in India this year. If this is true, then Indian buyers would only get the base model and not the higher end Pro and Ultra variants of the POCO F7. Although, it seems like POCO has some ambitious plans, according to Brar.

Redmi K80 Pro
Redmi K80 Pro

Based on our earlier reports, the POCO F7 Ultra is a rebranded Redmi K80 Pro model. Meanwhile, the POCO F7 is a renamed version of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. It is unclear why POCO might be making this move. There’s a chance that the F7 Pro and F7 Ultra may launch under a different name in the region. However, this isn’t completely surprising as the brand made a similar move last year as well.

For those unaware, the POCO F6 series made its global debut in Dubai, but only the base model made its way to the Indian market. Although POCO might have other plans for India, which could be related to a new product launch. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stick around for more.

Lava Yuva Smart Specifications

The Yuva Smart is powered by the Unisoc 9863A processor, a 28nm octa-core chip paired with the PowerVR GE8322 GPU. It runs on Android 14 Go edition, a lightweight version of the Android operating system optimized for devices with lower RAM.

Keeping the lights on is a 5000mAh battery, which should offer decent endurance on a single charge. The phone supports 10W wired fast charging.

The Lava Yuva Smart is equipped with standard connectivity options, including 4G/3G/2G network support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. Samsung One UI 8 is coming a lot sooner than you think

Samsung One UI 8

Samsung has consistently been able to deliver updates quicker than most other brands until last year, when it significantly delayed the One UI 7 release. Many brands, such as Motorola, OnePlus, and Vivo, have already delivered the Android 15 update to many of their devices, but Samsung still hasn’t begun the rollout. That’s disappointing for sure, but the brand could make a strong comeback with One UI 8.

While Samsung is busy preparing for the Android 15-based One UI 7 rollout, Google is already many steps forward in Android 16 development. After two developer preview builds, one in November and another in December, Google recently announced the first public beta of Android 16.

According to the official timeline, there will be a second beta in February, followed by the third one in March when Android 16 reaches Platform Stability. Beta 4 is scheduled to go live around April or May, with the possibility of a few minor betas along the way before the stable release.

Android 16 is planned for release sometime in the second quarter of 2025. While we don’t have an official release date yet, one leak says it’ll be June 3. Unlike last year, Android 16 might be pushed to Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and Google Pixels on the same day.

While Samsung hasn’t shared any details on One UI 8.0, a recent leak uncovered references to ‘OneUI_8_0’ in the internal code of some system apps. The leak didn’t reveal much detail except the presence of the ‘Decal Shader’ feature. We are not sure, but this could also mean Samsung is already working on One UI 8.0 development.

Interestingly, One UI 7.1 was not mentioned in the internal codes. Does this mean Samsung is skipping the ‘x.1’ update this year? This could be true as Android 16 is releasing earlier than previous versions. This gives Samsung less time for the development and rollout of One UI 7.1, making it more practical to directly focus on One UI 8.0 instead.

The One UI 7.0 development took longer to incorporate big changes, making it one of the most significant updates in recent years. However, the next iteration — One UI 8.0 — will likely focus on refinements and improvements rather than drastic changes. As a result, the development time for One UI 8.0 could be shorter, which could allow Samsung to release it soon after Android 16 goes public.

Huawei Pocket 3 to be affordable offering, P80 series launch likely to be postponed

Tech brands in China are expected to take a break starting tomorrow as the Lunar New Year begins. Operations are expected to resume by mid-February. During this period, several new device launches are anticipated. Oppo is likely to announce the Find N5, Xiaomi is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and the Realme Neo 7 SE is also expected to debut around the same time. These devices are slated for release in February. In March, Huawei is rumored to launch the Pocket 3, a flip-style smartphone designed with a focus on female users.

Pura 80 series delayed, Pocket 3 heading for March launch

Huawei unveiled the Pura 70 series of flagship phones in April 2024. According to tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the Huawei Pura 80 series is expected to face a delay, with its release likely pushed back to May or June. This is in line with a previous leak by DCS who claimed that the Pura 80 lineup will be unveiled in Q2 this year.

On the other hand, the Pocket 3, Huawei’s flip-style foldable phone targeting the female market, is still on track for a March release. The Pocket 3 is rumored to be a groundbreaking device that could surprise competitors with innovative features or design elements.

In a newer Weibo post, a tipster revealed that Richard Yu (referred to as “Big Mouth,” a well-known nickname for him in Chinese tech circles and media), the CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, hinted at the launch of a new phone in March. According to Yu, the device will be affordable, with the statement, “A new phone will be launched in March, and everyone can afford it.”  While this one appears to be the Pocket 3, no concrete details about the device’s specifications have been disclosed yet.

All that is known so far about the Pocket 3 is that it will be thinner, lighter, and more compact compared to its predecessor. Additionally, it is rumored to come in two versions, though specific details about these variants remain under wraps. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch approaches!

Xiaomi 15S Pro’s first key detail is out, thanks to certification

Xiaomi launched its last “S Pro” smartphone, the Xiaomi 12S Pro, back in 2022. The company didn’t follow it up with a successor in the Xiaomi 13 and 14 series, but it looks like we can finally expect one in 2025 with the Xiaomi 15 series.

The Xiaomi 15S Pro has been circulating in the rumor mill for a while now. Back in August, an IMEI listing revealed the device’s existence with the model number 25042PN24C and the codename “dijun.”

Xiaomi 15S Pro 3C certification

The same model number has now appeared on the 3C certification site, confirming a key detail: the phone will feature 90W fast charging, the same as the Xiaomi 15 Pro.

However, one feature missing from the certification details is satellite communication. For context, the Xiaomi 15 Pro supports two-way satellite communication, but whether the 15S Pro will follow suit remains unclear.

While the certification provides some insights into the device, key details such as its design, hardware, and potential upgrades remain unknown. The model number starting with “2504” could suggest an April 2025 release, but Xiaomi has yet to make anything official.

Xiaomi, however, has a busy schedule ahead, as it’s expected to launch the flagship Xiaomi 15 Ultra in February. This suggests that the Xiaomi 15S Pro could arrive at a separate event later in the year.

Xiaomi introduced the 12S Pro as a more premium version of the Xiaomi 12 Pro. It featured a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 found in the Xiaomi 12, along with upgrades in camera and display. If the Xiaomi 15S Pro follows the same strategy, it could bring refinements and features that differentiate it from the standard Xiaomi 15 Pro.As of now, speculation surrounds the device, and Xiaomi hasn’t shared specific details about its plans. However, with 3C certification in place, the Xiaomi 15S Pro seems to be steadily moving closer to an official debut.
