Both versions come with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, with no additional memory configurations planned for the European market.

For photography, it has a 50 MP main camera, 5 MP ultra-wide, and 2 MP macro lens on the rear, accompanied by a 13 MP front-facing selfie camera. A 5,000 mAh battery fuels the device, supporting 25 W charging.

The Galaxy A16 series will receive six years of software support, including operating system upgrades and security patches, offering long-term value for users. Although the exact launch date is still unknown, the leak hints at a possible launch window in December 2024.

In other news, Samsung is actively testing the Galaxy A56, recently spotted in the Geekbench database, confirming it will feature the Exynos 1580 SoC. This processor performs similarly to the Snapdragon 888, indicating strong mid-range performance for 2025.

Casio has unveiled the GMD-S5610IT, a new addition to its G-SHOCK lineup in collaboration with the popular K-pop girl group ITZY. This is the second partnership between the two, building on the success of their initial release earlier this year.

Oppo releases video demo of Find X8 “AI imaging” feature

Oppo Find series head, Zhou Yibao, is keeping the hype train rolling for its upcoming Find X8 series. After sharing some initial specs, Zhou today took to Weibo to reveal a new “AI imaging” feature that will be part of the new phones.

In a video posted on the platform, Zhou shows a photo of a cultural relic from the Chengdu Museum in China. The original image looks decent but has a noticeable reflection on the artifact’s surface.

After applying the said AI imaging feature, though, the reflection seems to vanish seamlessly, leaving a clean and glare-free image.

According to Yibao, this feature is designed for situations where reflections and glare can ruin the looks of the shot. That could be while capturing sunsets through office windows, clouds during a flight, or taking in the scenery while commuting on a subway or train.

AI imaging on Oppo Find X8 shows impressive results

Although the cultural relic demonstration seemed like a relatively straightforward case,  Zhou invited users to share photos with stubborn reflections. He then specifically mentions that he would use his “Oppo Find X8” to remove the glares from these images.

Interestingly, the user-submitted photos showed even more impressive results. In a particularly challenging scenario, the AI tool managed to completely remove what appeared to be streaks and spots from a car window. We will also attach a few other examples below.

Besides this, the Find X8 series is also confirmed to feature an IR blaster and an NFC smart card-cutting feature. As you might know, the former can be used to control various smart home devices.

Whereas, NFC smart card cutting is a feature that will use location awareness to automatically switch between NFC cards saved on your phone based on your location. For example, when you approach your workplace, your phone will automatically switch to your company access card without you having to select it manually.

As the name suggests, these laptops run on the ChromeOS out of the box and promise to offer up to 12 hours of battery life. These are thin and light notebooks that measure just 510 grams in weight, measuring just 7.59mm in thickness in tablet form. Although, you would likely use this laptop with the Folio keyboard and Stand Cover.

For optics, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet and Duet EDU G2 models feature a 5-megapixel webcam and an 8-megapixel rear facing camera. Other notable features include a dual 1W SmartAMP speaker setup tuned by Waves Audio, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, two USB Type C 3.2 Gen 1 ports and a single audio/microphone combo jack.

Pricing and Availability

The company unveiled the Chromebook Duet and Chromebook Duet EDU G2 with ENERGY STAR certification and it arrives with 3 months of free subscription to Gemini Advanced. iPhone SE 4 launch timeframe tipped with processor and RAM

While the dust is still settling on the recently launched iPhone 16, rumors of Apple’s next budget offering, the iPhone SE 4, are picking up speed.

Unlike the yearly refresh cycle of flagship iPhones, the SE line has a more sporadic release schedule. The three existing models arrived in 2016, 2020, and 2022. Now, a new rumor suggests the iPhone SE 4 will launch in early 2025.

Here’s when iPhone SE 4 might launch

Words for it come from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a well-known Apple insider, who claims Apple is gearing up to launch the iPhone SE “early next year.”

Citing anonymous sources familiar with the project, the insider confirmed the device bears the model name “V59” and will help Apple compete with low-end Android phones, especially in China.

The Curpertino-giant is expected to make some radical design changes in the iPhone SE 4. Rumors suggest the company will finally move away from the iPhone 8-like design for the upcoming SE in favor of a design similar to the iPhone 16.

iPhone SE 4 launch
iPhone 14

However, Mark Gurman believes the SE 4 will resemble the iPhone 14 rather than the iPhone 16. While that won’t be the most up-to-date design, it will still be a big upgrade from the outdated iPhone 8 look.

There won’t be a home button with thick bezels on the front. But note that the phone will still retain the notch and will not include Dynamic Island.

Even with a slightly older design, the iPhone SE 4 might include one of the iPhone 16 series’ standout features — Apple Intelligence. The good thing is, it has its own set of requirements which demands the latest hardware, including an A18 processor and 8GB of RAM at minimum.

So iPhone SE 4 getting Apple Intelligence at the very least confirms its chip and memory capacity. This upgraded hardware alone will make the SE 4 an attractive entry point for users wanting to experience Apple Intelligence. At the very least, we can expect a modern processor and ample RAM.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Slimming Down? Dummy Units Reveals Thinner Body

Samsung could be making its top end flagship phone more easier to carry around. Fresh dummy units have recently surfaced online, showcasing the design of the Galaxy S25 Ultra with a new thinner body. This new slimmer profile could be a welcomed change considering its tall form factor, so here’s what we know so far.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Dummy Units

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s design was revealed via an aluminum dummy unit that was shared on the Online Solitaire blog in collaboration with @xleaks7. Looking at the image, we get a proper view of the upcoming premium phone from the back, front, and even the sides. Earlier this week, we covered a fresh report about how Samsung is taking design cues from the 4 year old Galaxy S21 Ultra. Leaked cover case showcased noticeably rounded corners, which can be seen in this dummy unit as well.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Dummy
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Dummy Unit

The blog also adds that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will measure 162.82 x 77.65 x 8.25mm in dimensions. In other words, the upcoming S25 Ultra is not just thinner than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, but also slightly taller and narrower. To recall, the 24 Ultra measures 162.30 x 79.00 x 8.60mm. So there isn’t a massive redesign with the next gen flagship and you likely won’t notice these differences immediately.

Samsung’s Galaxy Ultra series has faced criticism for being too large at times and hard to carry around. Meaning, the rounded corners and thinner body should make it easier to hold. It will also feature high end specs and features like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, 200MP+50MP+10MP+50MP quad camera setup, and a tall 6.86-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed dummy unit, so take this report with a pinch of salt for now. You can click here to check out everything we know about the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra design leaks with beefy 200MP telephoto and 1-inch main camera

While Xiaomi is currently preparing to launch Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro later this month, the line’s top-of-the-line model is Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which will be official early next year

We have already covered several details about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s specs and features. Now, a new leak may have given us our first look at the phone’s design. The leak coming out of China shows design schematics of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra with its beefy camera setup.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra schematics sheds light on its design

As you can see, the camera island on the back of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra looks quite similar to the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. But there’s a slight difference in terms of lens arrangement.

The former has one lens at the top, while the other three are positioned at the bottom, unlike the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which has two lenses on each side.

At the top is likely a 200MP periscope telephoto module which is expected to be the same Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor as the Vivo X100 Ultra. If true, this will be an upgrade from the 50MP Sony IMX858 camera in the 14 Ultra.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra design

Just below it, you can see the rumored 1-inch main camera, the same as in the 14 Ultra. It’s expected to be a 50MP Sony LYT-900 sensor, with optical image stabilization (OIS).

The ultrawide and telephoto cameras, however, probably won’t see any change. Xiaomi is expected to use the same 50MP Sony IMX858 lens for both, with the ultrawide offering a 122-degree field of view and the telephoto featuring a 75mm focal length. And of course, there will be Leica tuning across the board.

Moving on to the front, the device seems to have flat edges and a punch-hole cutout in the display.

Rest of the specs

In terms of performance, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC or Snapdragon 8 Elite, whatever it is called.

It will be paired with up to 24GB of RAM. The phone is also expected to come with a massive 6,200mAh battery for long-lasting power and run on the latest HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to have a 2K display with micro-curvature on all four sides. The phone is also rumored to feature an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for convenient and secure unlocking.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to come in three material finishes: plain leather, fiberglass, or ceramic, offering a variety of options to suit different preferences and styles.

Why you should consider buying a Motorola phone in India and what needs fixing

Motorola, a brand with a long history in the mobile industry, has always been known for its innovation and reliable build quality. Over the years, they have made a significant impact in the Indian smartphone market with products that cater to both budget-conscious consumers and those seeking premium features.

However, like any brand, Motorola phones come with their strengths and areas for improvement. In this article, we’ll delve into what makes Motorola phones stand out and discuss the enhancements that could elevate their market position in India.

Motorola Edge 2024

Why You May and May Not Want to Buy a Motorola Phone in India

1. Build Quality

Motorola phones are renowned for their superior build quality, and the brand has made significant strides in this area. Instead of sticking to the usual glass-back or plastic-back design like many other brands, Motorola offers phones with alternative materials like vegan leather. This choice not only adds a premium touch but also enhances durability. Vegan leather, for example, resists fingerprints and scratches better than glass, making it a practical option for those who prioritize long-term durability.

2. pOLED Displays

Motorola frequently uses pOLED displays in its smartphones, offering a visual experience that stands out in its price range. pOLED displays provide deeper blacks, higher contrast ratios, and better energy efficiency compared to traditional LCD panels.

This makes them an ideal choice for media consumption, gaming, and everyday usage, as they deliver vibrant and accurate colors. Additionally, pOLED technology is known for being more durable than other display technologies, making it less prone to screen burn-in issues.

3. IP Rating

Almost all mid-range and flagship Motorola phones come equipped with an IP rating, which means they are resistant to dust and water. This feature is particularly useful for users who live in areas with unpredictable weather conditions or those who are constantly on the move. The IP rating adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring that accidental splashes or dust won’t damage the phone easily.

4. Lightweight Design

Motorola understands that carrying a bulky phone is a hassle, which is why many of their phones come in lightweight designs. This ensures that users can comfortably hold and use their phones for extended periods without feeling fatigued. The brand has done a commendable job of balancing functionality and portability, making their phones ideal for everyday use.

5. Wireless Charging

Wireless charging is a premium feature that is slowly making its way to mid-range devices, and Motorola has embraced this technology. Wireless charging adds convenience, allowing users to charge their phones without needing to plug them in. It’s a useful feature for people who want a clutter-free charging experience, and Motorola’s phones ensure compatibility with various wireless charging pads and stations.

6. Camera Hardware

Motorola’s mid-range phones now feature a proper three-lens camera system, including telephoto and ultrawide lenses with autofocus. The ultrawide lens expands creative possibilities for wide-angle shots like group photos or landscapes, while the telephoto lens enhances zoom capabilities, capturing crisp, clear shots from a distance. The inclusion of telephoto lenses even in budget-oriented mid-range devices significantly improves portrait quality by providing more detail and creating DSLR-like images with greater depth and clarity.

7. Close to Stock Android

Motorola is one of the few brands that offers a close-to-stock Android experience. For users who appreciate a clean, bloatware-free user interface, this is a huge advantage. Stock Android typically means faster updates, better performance, and fewer security vulnerabilities due to the lack of heavy skinning. Users who want a minimalistic software experience without unnecessary apps will appreciate Motorola’s software philosophy.

8. Curved Displays

While curved displays are aesthetically pleasing and make the phone look modern and premium, they may not be the best choice for everyone. Most Motorola flagship and high-end models come with fully curved displays, which, while visually striking, can be difficult to handle.

The accidental touch issue, for instance, can be frustrating. Over time, users may find that the practicality of curved displays is outweighed by the potential drawbacks, such as fragility and the need for extra care when handling the phone. For those who prefer durability and ease of use over aesthetics, the curved display may be a downside.

9. Stock Android

Motorola’s near-stock Android experience has been a key selling point, but many users now prefer feature-packed custom skins offered by brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Samsung. These skins provide advanced customization, built-in apps, and optimizations for a more personalized experience.

While Motorola offers some useful apps, they lack the depth and richness of features that many users, particularly in India, expect. Though some appreciate the simplicity of stock Android, most prefer a fully-featured experience from the outset.

10. Average Camera Performance

In the mid-range segment, most brands have set high standards for smartphone cameras. Unfortunately, Motorola doesn’t quite compete at that level. While Motorola offers decent camera hardware, the lack of optimization and a well-designed camera app puts it behind the competition.

Motorola’s camera app feels basic, lacking in the design and features found in other brands. Furthermore, Motorola’s images often lack detail and vibrancy compared to what you’d get from similarly priced devices from other brands.

The lack of a feature-rich camera experience, along with underwhelming post-processing, makes Motorola phones less appealing to photography enthusiasts and everyday users alike.

11. Delayed Software Updates

Motorola has improved its software update strategy, addressing past user frustrations by offering five years of major updates with the launch of the Edge 50 Neo. However, the timely rollout of these updates is crucial to avoid security risks and keep pace with competitors. While the brand’s commitment to long-term support is promising, it must ensure punctual delivery to stay competitive in the Indian market.

12. Limited Availability

One of the major challenges for Motorola in India is its limited availability. Motorola phones are primarily sold on Flipkart and in select offline stores, which can make it harder for consumers to get their hands on the latest models.

This limited availability contrasts with the broad reach of competitors like Xiaomi, Samsung, and Realme, which have extensive offline and online distribution networks. Expanding availability to other e-commerce platforms and increasing offline store presence could significantly boost Motorola’s sales and appeal to a wider audience.

13. Conclusion

Motorola phones have a lot to offer in terms of build quality, display technology, and clean software experience. However, to keep up with the competition in the Indian market, they need to focus on refining the camera experience, improving software customization, and delivering timely updates. By addressing these areas, Motorola can continue to be a strong player in the Indian smartphone market and further expand its user base.

Huawei and MediaTek to Face Off in Court Over Patent Allegations

The simmering patent dispute between tech giants Huawei and MediaTek is expected to heat up by October 25th, following the conclusion of China’s Golden Week holiday period and major product launches, according to a new report by DigiTimes.

The two companies have been locked horns since July over alleged patent infringement related to cellular network technologies, including 4G, 5G, and LTE.

Huawei vs MediaTek patent dispute: What’s the jist?

Both Huawei and MediaTek filed lawsuits against each other – Huawei in a Chinese court and MediaTek in the UK High Court. Specific details of the lawsuits and the exact court dates remain unclear from the official sides, but DigiTimes now suggests a likely start date after October 25th.

The crux of the dispute reportedly stems from a failed licensing agreement. The Chinese tech giant owns a significant portfolio of standard-essential patents (SEPs) crucial to wireless communication, holding about 20% of the world’s 5G patents.

Currently, Huawei charges patent fees to terminal device manufacturers, which are the companies that design, assemble, and market complete devices. In case of smartphones, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Samsung are a few of these terminal device manufacturers.

Huawei’s lawsuit is to make a change in this model where it wants to target component suppliers like MediaTek for licensing fees rather than device manufacturer.

MediaTek, however, reportedly found the licensing fees—based on terminal device prices—excessively high, leading to the dispute between the two companies.

If Huawei succeeds in this strategy, it could change the patent licensing landscape in the tech industry.

Smartphone manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo may see reduced licensing costs as the financial burden will shift to chip suppliers such as MediaTek and Qualcomm. In theory, this could also enable device manufacturers to lower the prices of their devices.

It’s clear that both companies are preparing for a potentially long and complex legal fight. And while we can’t predict the outcome, we will keep you updated as the situation evolves.

October Flagship Lineup: Vivo X200, Xiaomi 15, & Honor Magic 7 to Launch on October 14, 20, and 30

October is turning out to be a busy month for Chinese smartphone manufacturers as they are preparing to launch their respective flagship smartphone models powered by the upcoming flagship MediaTek and Qualcomm SoCs. A recent report indicated that Xiaomi could launch the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered (Snapdragon 8 Gen 4) Xiaomi 15 series on October 23. However, a new report has now surfaced hinting that the launch could happen on October 20.

Leaker Fixed Focus Digital hinted in a cryptic Weibo post that Vivo will introduce its X200 series on October 14, with Xiaomi set to release the Xiaomi 15 series on October 20. Honor is also expected to reveal its flagship Honor Magic 7 on October 30. The Vivo X200 series recently appeared on the Chinese retail platform JD.com, further solidifying the October 14 launch date. With the rumored launch dates just weeks away, official announcements for the Xiaomi and Honor flagships are likely to follow soon.

Xiaomi 15 series specs (expected)

The Xiaomi 15 Pro will reportedly feature a 120Hz 2K display with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and an 8.5mm thick body. The device will have a special Titanium Edition like last year’s model.

For optics, the Pro model will come with a 50MP main sensor with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/2.5, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a Sony IMX858 telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom.

The base model on the other hand is said to come with a 6,000mAh battery and an IP69 water and dust resistance rating. Both devices will offer 90W wired fast charging and will house the Snapdragon 8 Elite (Snapdragon 8 Gen 4) chipset.

Honor Magic 7 series features (expected)

The Magic 7 series smartphones are anticipated to feature the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipsets, with the standard model sporting a 1.5K display and the Pro model offering a 2K display. Both devices will come equipped with a triple-camera setup on the rear, including a 50MP Omnivision OV50H sensor as the primary camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, possibly the Sony IMX882, and a third sensor that could be either 50 megapixels or 200 megapixels (Samsung HP3).

OneUI 7 will reportedly include one helpful Apple Intelligence feature

All the recent launch events of top-of-the-line phones have revolved around AI, and the trend will continue for a while. Samsung’s OneUI 6.1 already packs several helpful AI features, and a leak suggests that the company will incorporate a feature similar to Apple‘s AI search in the Gallery app in OneUI 7.

Samsung-Galaxy-S24-Series

The Gallery app in OneUI 7 could pack an AI search feature

Apple Intelligence will let users search their photo galleries much more intelligently with the feature. Instead of scrolling through thousands of screenshots to find out what you are looking for, now you can just search for it. It not only saves time but also makes the overall user experience a lot better.

The news comes from reliable tipster ICE Universe, who also adds that the Gallery app in OneUI 7 will also get other optimizations. However, he didn’t mention any other possible changes.

Some of Samsung’s Galaxy AI features that are currently available include Circle to Search, some note-taking and summarization features, translation and transcription features that also work with third-party apps like Whatsapp, and much more.

However many of these AI features are reportedly powered by Google’s Gemini and also aren’t actually exclusive to Galaxy devices. For instance, the Circle to Search feature and the generative photo editing features are also available on Pixel devices. Many other brands like Huawei also offer their version of the generative AI-based photo editing features. In fact, the recently released Xiaomi 14T / 14T Pro also offers the Circle to Search feature.

Regarding the rollout of OneUI 7, there’s no confirmed date yet. Samsung typically launches its S series flagships with a big update. So we can expect Galaxy S25 Ultra to be the first to bring OneUI 7 to the market in early 2025, possibly in January.

Other than the AI features, the top model in the series will offer a major redesign. As previous rumors suggest, Samsung has finally shifted to rounded corners for the S25 Ultra, which should feel a lot more comfortable in hand.
