iQOO 13 measures less than 8.1mm, supports 100W PPS charging, claims tipster

The iQOO 13 continues to be a swirling vortex of rumors and leaks. Following recent reports of the phone featuring a single-layer motherboard, an upgraded cooling system, and a self-developed Q2 chip, a leak from Experience More has revealed some additional details about the phone.

According to the tipster, the iQOO 13 will measure less than 8.1 mm thick. That’s similar to its predecessor, which also measures 8.1mm. But the upcoming phone might offer improved durability as it may come with an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, an improvement over the IP64 rating of the iQOO 12.

It’s also expected to feature ultrasonic fingerprint recognition for biometrics, a flat display with a small punch-hole cutout for selfies, and chamfered edges on the frames.

Moving on, the leak suggests the phone will support 100W PPS fast charging, similar to the Vivo X100 series. The included charging adapter is said to support both 100W PPS and PD charging and will use a Type-C to Type-C connector.

Another tip from the insider is about the display. They suggest the iQOO 13 will use a “better panel than BOE X2 Oriental screen,” which is expected to be used in the upcoming OnePlus 13.

While unconfirmed, a previous report suggests that the device will feature BOE’s latest OLED display with 33% more panel life and a 10% reduction in power consumption.

iQOO 13 Specifications

Apart from this, the iQOO 13 is expected to pack the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. The camera department could see a triple-sensor setup with a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor, a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultrawide lens, and a 50MP IMX826 telephoto lens with 2x zoom.

Moreover, the phone will have RAM options reaching up to 16GB and storage up to 1TB. A large battery was also mentioned, though specific details remain under wraps.

iQOO itself hasn’t confirmed anything about the iQOO 13, but considering the continuous stream of leaks, a launch date shouldn’t be too far off. We will keep you in the loop for any new updates.

Considering a Pixel? Here’s Why the iPhone 16 Might Be the Better Choice

When it comes to choosing a flagship smartphone, the battle between Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Pixel devices is ongoing. Each device brings unique strengths to the table, making the decision a personal one. For users in the United States, there are a few compelling reasons why the iPhone might be a better choice over Google’s Pixel 9 series.

iPhone 16 Pro Series

1. Better Battery Life

The iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, offers impressive battery life, with Apple’s optimization and efficient A18 and A18 Pro chips contributing to long-lasting power. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, in particular, is designed to deliver the best battery life among current iPhones. While Google has made strides in this area, Apple’s seamless integration of hardware and software generally results in more consistent battery performance, especially in real-world usage.

2. More Reliable Network Reception

Apple has a history of refining network connectivity in its devices, and the iPhone 16 series is no exception. The combination of advanced antenna design and compatibility with 5G ensures that iPhone users typically experience fewer dropped calls and more reliable internet speeds. The Pixel 9 series also supports 5G, but Apple’s rigorous testing and partnerships with U.S. carriers often result in better network performance in various conditions, especially in rural areas or regions with spotty coverage.

3. Extensive Accessory Ecosystem

Apple’s ecosystem is well-known for its wide range of accessories. From Apple’s own AirPods to the extensive variety of third-party cases, chargers, and other add-ons, iPhone users have a much broader selection. This vast ecosystem makes it easier for users to find compatible accessories, whether they’re looking for luxury options, budget-friendly alternatives, or niche products.

4. Easy Access to Service and Support

Apple’s network of retail stores provides convenient and reliable service, making repairs or technical support much easier for iPhone users. In the U.S., Apple’s Genius Bars offers in-person assistance, while authorized service providers are available in many locations for quick repairs. Google, while expanding its support for Pixel devices, doesn’t yet have the same widespread retail or service presence, making it less convenient for users who need quick fixes.

5. Superior Video Capabilities

The iPhone 16 series excels in video performance, with features like ProRes video recording, Dolby Vision, and high frame-rate options that elevate video quality. While Google’s Pixel 9 Pro series offers unique features like 8K video recording, Apple’s iPhones are favored by video enthusiasts and professionals for their consistency and cinematic quality. The iPhone 16 Pro series supports up to 4K@120 capture, offering smoother and more immersive playback options that meet the needs of users who value high-quality video creation.

6. iMessage

iMessage remains one of the most compelling reasons to choose an iPhone in the U.S. It integrates seamlessly with Apple’s ecosystem, offering features like end-to-end encryption, read receipts, and seamless transition to SMS when necessary. The ubiquity of iMessage among U.S. users means that iPhone owners can participate in group chats, share multimedia, and communicate more conveniently with other iPhone users.

7. Seamless Apple Ecosystem Integration

Apple products are designed to work together effortlessly, creating a cohesive environment that extends beyond the iPhone. Features like Continuity, Handoff, Universal Clipboard, and AirDrop allow users to transition seamlessly between devices. For instance, you can start writing an email on your iPhone and continue it on your iPad or Mac, or copy text on your iPhone and paste it directly on a nearby Mac. With iCloud, photos, documents, and app data are synchronized across all Apple devices in real-time, simplifying access and backup.

Also using one Apple ID, users can access Apple Music, Apple TV+, and Apple Fitness+ across devices, enhancing the user experience. Apple’s Family Sharing feature lets up to five family members share apps, music, subscriptions, and even locations while offering parental controls for monitoring children’s activities.

8. Privacy and Security

Apple’s commitment to privacy and security is notable, with features like the App Tracking Transparency framework that allows users to control which apps can track their data. Google has its own privacy features, but Apple’s approach to security is often seen as more proactive.

9. Longevity and Software Updates

Apple’s track record for software updates often outpaces Google’s, with even older iPhones continuing to receive updates. The iPhone 16 series is expected to receive iOS updates for several years, ensuring that users can access new features, security patches, and performance improvements longer than many Android devices.

10. Conclusion

The iPhone 16 series offers a robust set of features that make it appealing to U.S. consumers. From superior video quality and network reliability to an unmatched ecosystem of accessories and a strong emphasis on privacy, the iPhone remains a competitive option in the flagship smartphone market. Choosing between the iPhone and Pixel comes down to personal preferences, but for many, Apple’s offerings provide a compelling package of convenience, innovation, and performance.

Exclusive: Samsung Galaxy A36 development continues

Following the leak of the Galaxy A56, the first information about the Galaxy A36 has now surfaced. The Gizmochina team has spotted the new Galaxy A36 5G in the IMEI database. Samsung is actively working on two different A series models. People are very curious about what the new Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 will offer. Among these smartphones, the Galaxy A56 was confirmed to come with the Exynos 1580 SoC. Now, we see Galaxy A36’s network tests have started to be carried out. This is being done to ensure that the new smartphone offers a seamless user experience.

Samsung is preparing to unveil the new Galaxy A series phones

As Samsung continues to work on the new Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56, let’s discuss the leaked information. At first, the Exynos 1580 appeared in a Geekbench test in July. Later, the Galaxy A56’s appearance in the IMEI database shows that the brand continues to test its new products.

Two weeks after the Galaxy A56 was revealed, the same smartphone was spotted on the Geekbench database. The Galaxy A56 will come with the Exynos 1580 SoC, which performs the same as the Snapdragon 888 introduced 3 years ago. Galaxy A56 scored 1341 in single core and 3836 in multi-core. We already reported this in our previous article. Now the Galaxy A36 has been spotted in the IMEI database.

The Galaxy A36 appeared in the IMEI database with two different model numbers: SM-A366B/DS and SM-A366U. The first model number represents the global version of the smartphone, while the other model number represents the version of the Galaxy A36 that will be sold in the US. In addition, the “/DS” suffix at the end of the model number indicates that the device has a dual SIM card slot. In addition, the phone is named “Galaxy A36 5G”, and this confirms that the device will come with a 5G SoC.

The Galaxy A36’s processor is not yet known. The previous Galaxy A35 had an Exynos 1380 SoC. The new Galaxy A36 may have an Exynos 1480 processor. Of course, this is not official information, because when we also analyzed the specs of the previous Galaxy A34, the device housed a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC at its heart. We don’t know which processor Samsung will use in the new Galaxy A36.

As for the launch date of the smartphones, the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 are expected to be officially unveiled in March 2025. By then, many features of the devices will have leaked. We will bring you new information.

iPhone 15 Drops to ₹58,999: A Deal Worth Grabbing?

Last month, Apple slashed the price of the iPhone 15 in the Indian market bringing it down to Rs 69,990 from 79,990. Now, the brand has further reduced the starting price of the device to Rs 58,999 for the ongoing Flipkart Big Billion Day sale.

Apple iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus
Apple iPhone 15

As mentioned above, the base 128GB model is currently going for Rs 58,999, while the 256GB and 512GB models of the iPhone 15 are going for Rs 68,999 and 89,999 on Flipkart. There is an additional discount of Rs 1,250 on HDFC Bank Credit Card EMI transactions.

The iPhone 15 is now available in a variety of colors, including Blue, Green, Yellow, Pink, and Black. It features a 6.1-inch OLED display with Dynamic Island and HDR capabilities. Powered by the A16 Bionic chip, the device offers strong performance. The rear camera setup includes a 48-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, while the front is equipped with a 12-megapixel selfie camera. Notably, this is the first iPhone to feature a USB-C port.

Is the iPhone 15 worth purchasing?

Determining if the iPhone 15 is worth buying depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you’re new to the iPhone lineup, now might be an ideal time to try the iPhone 15, which offers standout features like Dynamic Island, the powerful A15 Bionic chip, and a larger battery compared to previous models.

However, if you’re considering an upgrade from the iPhone 14, you may find the differences less significant. Aside from the new features mentioned, much of the design and other elements remain similar to the iPhone 14.

iQOO 13 combines Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 with Supercomputing chip Q2

We are nearing the launch dates of several new flagships from vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, and iQOO. While vivo and Oppo have opted for Dimensity 9400, iQOO 13 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. However, a company executive now confirms that the iQOO flagship also adopts vivo’s self-developed Supercomputing Chip Q2 aiming for a phenomenal gaming experience.

iQOO 12 Pro

For those unfamiliar, these are specialized gaming chips designed to enhance the gaming experience on smartphones. The predecessor, Supercomputing Chip Q1, was used inside the iQOO 12 and Neo9 series, and from my personal experience with the Neo9 Pro, the frame interpolation feature is indeed a game changer.

As you might have already guessed, these chips are used for the MEMC tech, that allows the phone to reach up to 144Hz refresh rate even in games capped at 60 fps, such as Genshin Impact.

Supercomputing Chip Q2 is said to be 30% more power-efficient than its predecessor

While the company exec didn’t reveal any insights into the performance capabilities of the Supercomputing Chip Q2, it’s safe to expect some degree of performance and power efficiency improvement. According to a recent rumor, the Q2 chip adopts a parallel rendering algorithm, which increases the sampling efficiency by 4 times, the execution efficiency by 30%, and the power consumption by 10%. While not every game supports this chip, it is claimed that the feature has already been implemented in more than 100 games.

Aside from the frame interpolation feature, these dedicated chips also offer a ‘Game Super Resolution’ feature, allowing users to enjoy clearer graphics than would be possible without the chip.

Coming back to the iQOO 13, it’s also rumored to pack a redesigned heat dissipation system, which suggests better-sustained performance.

Speaking of other aspects, the phone boasts a new BOE display which offers a 33% boost in panel longevity paired with a 10% reduction in power consumption. On the inside, the phone is rumored to pack a massive 6100mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging.

What’s New in GoPro Hero 13 Black? All The Upgrades and Enhancements

The GoPro Hero 13 was announced just over a month ago. It was announced as the brand’s newest action camera series, bringing high resolution video recording in a portable form factor. So let’s see all the upgrades and improvements over the previous generation.

GoPro Hero 13 Black
GoPro Hero 13 Black

1. GoPro Hero 13 Black with 5.3K@120fps Slo-Mo Video Recording

There aren’t massive changes between the two generations but GoPro’s new action cameras are getting improvements that help filmmakers who need more cinematic shots. The Hero 12 Black can record up to 5.3K resolution at 60fps, while its slow motion capture can hit 2.7K resolution at up to 200fps. In contrast, the Hero 13 Black is getting a new Burst Slo-Mo menu, which has a 5.3K recording at up to 120fps. These shots are up to five seconds in length.

That’s not all, the newer GoPro action camera can also record at up to 400fps at 720p resolution or up to 13 times slow mo. Users can opt for this mode for up to 15 seconds, the same as its 900p at 360fps mode. This is a great option for capturing specific moments, in improved slo mo and higher resolution. But it is worth noting that the camera takes a few seconds to process these recordings.

2. New Lens Accessories

One of the biggest updates to the Hero 13 Black is also with the new Lens Mods. The newer model still uses the same 27.6MP 8:7 sensor, but you can pair it with auto detection tech as well. There is also a new Macro Lens Mod that magnifies the Hero 13 Black’s focus by 4 times. This is also equipped with manual focusing and focus peaking support. So vloggers would definitely benefit from such a mod since the camera now has more versatile use.

For filmmaking enthusiasts, GoPro has a new anamorphic lens that lets you record at a cinematic letterbox 21:9 aspect ratio along with lens flare. However, this is arriving next year. GoPro is bringing all of these new lens feature with auto detection, so the Hero 13 Black can automatically detect which particular Lens Mod is attached to adjust the camera settings. This makes the entire processor more seamless.

3. Return of GPS

GPS is returning on the Hero 13 Black. GoPro had skipped this basic feature on the Hero 12 Black. But now, this feature is finally returning. So users can now tag the location of their videos and photos with location data. The action camera even lets you add ‘Stickers’ via the Quik app. Thanks to this, real time data can be embedded in your recordings like altitude, speed, and G-force. You might be wondering, what’s the point of all this, till you remember how GoPro has been a staple for extreme sports enthusiasts.

4. Longer Battery Life

GoPro packed the Hero 12 Black with a 1,720mAh battery pack, while the Hero 13 Black is getting a slightly large 1,900mAh cell. As per official notes, the latest action camera can deliver up to 1.5 hours of uninterrupted 5.3K video recording or up to 2.5 hours of 1080p capture. The bigger capacity is thanks to the Enduro battery. Unfortunately, these are not backwards compatible with the older models.

Samsung quietly unveils its first budget phone with 6 years of Android updates

Samsung has quietly launched the Galaxy A16 5G on its Dutch website, and turns out, the rumors about its long-term software support were true.

The smartphone comes with a promise of six generations of Android updates and security patches for six years – a level of software support typically reserved for premium devices. This means the phone will receive updates until October 2030, something unheard of for a mid-range phone.

Samsung, however, has not officially announced the price of the Galaxy A16 5G. Its predecessor costs around $199, so we expect the price to be in a similar range.

Samsung Galaxy A16 5G Specifications

While the price remains unconfirmed, we now have the official specs of the phone in hand.

The device features a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a crisp Full HD+ resolution (2,340 x 1,080) and a 90Hz refresh rate.

But even though the Galaxy A16 5G has flagship-level software support, it still comes with an outdated U-shaped notch that houses a 13MP selfie camera. The bezels are also typical of a mid-range device.

The back of the phone is a classic Samsung fare, with three camera rings and an LED light on the side. The main is a 50MP sensor, accompanied by a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a basic 2MP macro camera.

Powering the device is an octa-core processor with a top-clock speed of 2.4GHz. Samsung, however, hasn’t confirmed the SoC’s name yet. It could be the Exynos 1330 chip, if rumors are to be believed.

It is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage (up to 1.5TB via microSD). However, users opting for expandable storage will have to forgo using a dual SIM card setup.

All this is fueled by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W charging. Another noteworthy feature of a budget phone is the IP54 dust and water resistance rating. Last but not least, the device comes in Blue, Black, and Grey color options.

Gizmochina has spotted 3 new Nubia V70 series smartphones in the IMEI database. ZTE may be testing more models behind the scenes, but for now, we can only confirm the existence of these three devices.

The Nubia V70 series appears in the IMEI database now

The Nubia V70 series is a new smartphone series from ZTE. However, ZTE had previously launched two V-series smartphones, the Nubia V60 and V60 Design. The Nubia V60 and V60 Design were launched as budget smartphones with entry-level specifications. We expect the new Nubia V70 series to be a similarly budget-friendly smartphone.

The new ZTE Nubia V70 series consists of 3 smartphones: Nubia V70, Nubia V70 Design, and Nubia V70 Max. The Nubia V70 has been spotted in the IMEI database with model number Z2459, the Nubia V70 Design with model number Z2458, and the Nubia V70 Max with model number Z2467.

We don’t yet know the specifications and official launch date of the new Nubia V70 series. However, if we look at the Nubia V60 introduced in the past, it was launched as a budget-friendly smartphone. We think that Nubia will continue the V series with budget-friendly smartphones. We are eagerly waiting for the new Nubia V70 series smartphones.

Galaxy S25 Ultra Spotted with Android 15: First Look at One UI 7

Samsung is gearing up to unveil its new Galaxy S25 series of flagship smartphones soon. These devices will pack the updated high end hardware and along with the latest version of Android. But ahead of any official announcement, a new tweet from a known tipster has offered us a first look at One UI 7 on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. So here’s what we know.

One UI 7 First Look: Galaxy S25 Ultra runs Android 15 OS

Ice Universe shared an image that showcased the South Korean tech giant’s flagship phone was seen running on the Android 15 OS based custom skin. Looking at the image, we get a full view of the new control center of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Keep in mind that this is still just a mockup so it is not official yet. The Galaxy S25 Ultra previously had its design revealed via dummy units, and we now have its software design.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra running on the Android 15 OS based One UI 7 custom skin

Just last week, we covered a report about how ColorOS 15 and OxygenOS 15 appear to have an Apple iOS inspired UI. While it is not a direct copy, even the One UI 7 mockup has a control center similar to iPhones. It features a split notification panel with rounded corners and transperancies. There are also uniform sizes for the control widgets.

These redesigns aren’t limited to just the control center as other leaks have showcased changes in the One UI 7 app drawer, home screen, and settings apps. Even the battery icon and indicator along with the camera app with controls is expected to get a refresh. This is all the information we can gather from just this one picture. So stick around for more as we will be providing updates when additional details surface online.

iPhone SE 4 vs. iPhone 15: Why This Budget Phone Might Be The Better Choice

Apple is working on the next generation of the iPhone SE model, which is expected to launch soon. The brand’s iPhone SE 4 is expected to offer a bunch of improvements over its predecessor, so here are some ways it might be better than Apple’s iPhone 15.

1. Apple iPhone SE 4: Refreshed Compact Design

Apple iPhone SE 4
Apple iPhone SE 4

The Cupertino based giant’s iPhone SE series has always featured a compact form factor. While the base iPhone models like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 already have a smaller size compared to the average smartphones in the market, but the iPhone SE had an even smaller footprint. However, this is one of the aspects that kept many away from the iPhone SE, which used to feature a 4.7-inch Retina IPS LCD panel.

But the upcoming iPhone SE 4 is rumored to sport a taller 6.1-inch OLED display. Meaning, it would rival the display on the iPhone 15 in terms of size and quality. That’s not all, the iPhone SE (2022) was the last to feature Touch ID, but the next gen iPhone SE 4 could house a notch design like the iPhone 14 for Face ID technology. Some renders have showcased this device with a Dynamic Island but that still seems unlikely. But we are finally leaving the iPhone 8-like design on the next iPhone SE.

2. iPhone SE 4 is Faster

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 vs Apple A18 Pro
Apple A18 Processor

In a recent report, the processor that powers the iPhone SE 4 was revealed. It seems like Apple will equip this model with an A18 processor, which will be paired with 8GB of RAM. For those unaware, this is the same chipset that powers the brand’s latest iPhone 16 lineup.

So despite being a budget iPhone, the iPhone SE 4 would likely outclass the iPhone 15 in terms of performance. This model is also rumored to use an in-house 5G modem. Since it has the Apple A18 processor, the iPhone SE 4 could also launch with support for Apple Intelligence, Apple’s brand new Artificial Intelligence.

3. Affordable Pricing, More Accessible

Apple iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus
Apple iPhone 15

Apple had announced the iPhone SE (2022) for a starting price tag of $429. Although, all of these upgrades are pointing at a price hike. So it could cost around $499 to $549. This is not exactly “budget” but it is in the range of certain upper mid range smartphones. But regardless, the iPhone SE 4 would still be over $200 cheaper than the base iPhone 15.

The company doesn’t have a set schedule for releasing iPhone SE models. The three entries in the SE family were launched in 2016, 2020, and 2022. The latest rumors now hint that the iPhone SE 4 will launch in early next year. Apple iPhone SE 4 was spotted carrying the model name “V59”. Unlike its flagship series, this model would be able to compete with mid-range Android smartphones in Asian markets as well. Keep in mind, that this report is based on recent rumors and reports, so take this with a pinch of salt for now and stick around for more updates.

The Razr 50 Ultra takes this a step further with a massive cover display that’s the largest and most functional we’ve seen on a flip phone. It supports a wide range of apps and widgets, blurring the lines between the inner and outer screens. The phone is also more durable than its predecessors, with a redesigned hinge and improved water resistance. In India, the device is priced at Rs 99,999. In the US, the same device is sold with Razr+ 2024 moniker, which carries an $899 price tag.

Why it stands out: The Razr 50 Ultra blends retro charm with modern technology, offering a unique foldable experience with a truly innovative cover screen that sets it apart from the competition.

Huawei Mate 60, Mate X5, and MatePad Pro 13.2″ to receive HarmonyOS NEXT public beta starting tomorrow

Huawei has been working on its self-developed operating system, HarmonyOS NEXT, for some time now. After rolling out the developer beta in June, the system is now ready for public beta testing. The Huawei Mate 60, Mate X5, and MatePad Pro 13.2 series will be the first devices to receive the HarmonyOS NEXT 0.0.71 public beta update.

This update includes improved visuals for the system apps and animations. It also adds HarmonyOS native apps.

HarmonyOS NEXT public beta improvements:

System

  • Optimize system performance and stability to make your device run more smoothly and stably
  • Merge security patches to enhance system security

Appearance

  • Optimize the visual effects in different areas of the UI

Camera

  • Optimize camera performance and stability to provide you with a better photo-taking experience

Application

  • New pre-installed HarmonyOS native apps

Other flagship devices such as the Pura 70 series, Pocket 2, and MatePad Pro 11 2024 may receive the public beta update in the coming weeks.

 [beehiiv_newsletter]

For those unfamiliar, the HarmonyOS NEXT is independent of Android or it doesn’t support any Android codes or apps. Instead, it uses Huawei’s self-developed OS components like Harmony kernel which is claimed to be 3x more efficient than Linux.

That said, it will be interesting to see how the company manages to boost performance and fluency across its ecosystem with HarmonyOS NEXT, especially when compared to competitors running on Android.

Significant in context, we have already seen the first gaming results for Honor of Kings running natively on HarmonyOS NEXT. While the game is currently under beta testing, the performance already matches what many high-end Android phones deliver.

For those concerned about the app ecosystem, Huawei’s self-developed operating system already has more than 10,000 apps which reportedly meets nearly all use cases. There will likely be more apps going forward as HarmonyOS NEXT rolls out as a stable version and reaches more devices.

Xiaomi Pad 7 Certified in India, expected to launch early next year

Xiaomi’s upcoming tablet called the Xiaomi Pad 7 is rumored to launch in October alongside the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series flagship smartphones. The brand usually takes a couple of months before releasing its devices in the global market, however, the brand is already getting its upcoming tablets certified by Indian authorities like the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Xiaomi Pad 6s Pro

The Xiaomi Pad 7 has appeared on BIS with model number ‘2410CRP4CI.’ Previous certifications in Singapore hint at a global launch as well. While the launch timeline is unclear, we expect the tablet to debut in the global market sometime in Q1 of 2025.

Xiaomi Pad 7 BIS certification

Based on earlier leaks, Xiaomi will be launching two tablets called the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro at the upcoming Xiaomi 15 series smartphone launch event. Both tablets will feature high-performance Qualcomm processors. The Xiaomi Pad 7 is anticipated to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, while the Pad 7 Pro is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

It was previously rumored that the brand is working on an OLED tablet, however, it looks like the initial release will only feature 11-inch LCD display models. The Pad 7 series will operate on HyperOS 2.0, built on Android 15, and is likely to include a 10,000mAh battery.

The brand is also expected to retain the side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. It’s still uncertain whether Xiaomi will provide 5G or cellular connectivity for these models. The tablets are expected to feature a USB Type-C 3.2 port for faster data transfers.

Motorola Edge 50 Neo vs Vivo V40e: Which is the Superior Mid-Range Phone?

Both Motorola and Vivo released impressive new mid-range smartphones in the Indian market. Just a few days ago, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo was announced, with the Vivo V40e releasing a day after. So which one should you spend your hard earned money on? Which one is superior? Read on to find out.

Motorola Edge 50 Neo vs Vivo V40e
Motorola Edge 50 Neo (L) vs Vivo V40e (R)

1. Motorola Edge 50 Neo vs Vivo V40e: Design & Display

The Edge 50 Neo and Vivo V40e are the affordable entries in their respective lineups. So, there are certain cut corners in their design. While the Vivo V40 series has a premium glass body and metal frame, the V40e is built with a plastic frame and back. Even the Edge 50 Neo has a plastic frame and plastic back. However, Motorola has offered a vegan leather variant that feels more premium. This paired with a MIL-STD-810H military standard body makes the Edge 50 Neo better in terms of overall design and durability.

Thanks to its smaller 6.4-inch display, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo is basically one of the rare budget compact smartphones. This is a LTPO pOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. It also has Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 for better screen protection. On the other hand, the Vivo V40e sports a taller 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. So based on your preference, you may prefer a smaller phone or a device with a taller screen.

2. Specifications

Under the hood, both smartphones are equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, which is paired with up to 8GB of RAM (12GB on the V40e) and 256GB of internal storage. Performance between the devices should be quite similar with the differences mainly being with battery life. A massive 5,500mAh battery pack powers the Vivo V40e, which supports 80W wired fast charging. Meanwhile, the Edge 50 Neo is a smaller 4,310mAh cell that offers 68W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging support.

This is a sizeable difference so the former likely has a better battery life. Although, having wireless charging support is a positive on Motorola’s side. Other similar features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, IP rating for water and dust protection, and Android 14 OS out of the box.

3. Camera

An area where the Vivo V40e is expected to shine is the photography department. While Motorola has a more versatile setup with a 50MP (Sony LYT700C Main) + 13MP (Ultrawide) + 10MP (Telephoto) and a 32MP (Selfie) cameras, the Vivo V40 series was supposed to offer top notch photography experience without the flagship pricing. The V40e doesn’t offer the same Zeiss lens but its 50MP Sony IMX882 main sensor is paired with an 8MP ultra wide angle lens.

There is also an Aura Light RING LED flash on the rear that can be used to adjust the color temperature while clicking low-light images. On the front, you get a 50MP selfie shooter. This model offers features like OIS + EIS, AI eraser, AI portrait enhancer, and more.

4. Pricing and Verdict

The Vivo V40e has a starting price tag of 28,999 INR for the 8GB + 128GB option, while the 12GB + 256GB variant costs 30,999 INR. This makes it more expensive than the Motorola Edge 50 Neo, which is currently on sale for just 23,999 INR for its lone 8GB + 256GB storage configuration.

So the Edge 50 Neo is a great feature packed compact phone that offers great value for its price. You get a vegan body, compact form factor, great durability, and budget friendly pricing. Its camera setup is decent as well, with support for wireless charging as well. But if you prefer a bigger screen, a good main camera, and more RAM for gaming, the Vivo V40e is a good mid range option as well.

Vivo X200 packs larger battery than both Oppo Find X8 and Xiaomi 15

Vivo will launch three new flagships on October 14 in China — the Vivo X200, X200 Pro mini, and X200 Pro. It was previously revealed that the new compact flagship packs a massive 5700 mAh battery. Now, the latest leak claims that the standard vivo X200 will feature a 5800 mAh battery, slightly larger than its compact counterpart.

Following the new trend, vivo is also using the silicon anode battery tech, which packs more capacity within a given volume.

2024 may finally offer compact phones with good battery life

In comparison, the Xiaomi 15 and Oppo Find X8 offer battery capacities of 5400 mAh and 5700 mAh, respectively.

Notably, all of the devices mentioned above adopt a compact form factor. According to the tipster, the Xiaomi 15, Oppo Find X8, and the vivo X200 packs 6.3x-inch, 6.5x-inch, and 6.6x-inch displays respectively. This is surprising because most of the compact flagships of the past have struggled to meet their sales targets, and companies gradually shifted to larger models.

Another major reason behind opting for a large form factor could be the battery life. Even last year’s models such as the 6.78 inch Oppo Find X7 only managed to pack a 5000 mAh battery while weighing over 200 grams. The adoption of the new silicon anode material in the battery seems to fix multiple problems – poor or below-average battery life, gigantic size, and weight.

Significant in context, Oppo has already confirmed that the Find X8 weighs less than 200 grams despite packing a much larger battery. According to a previous leak, the phone measures 7mm thick and weighs 190 grams only. On the other hand, the Pro and Ultra models will likely offer significantly longer battery life with over 6000 mAh capacity.

The leaker also mentioned that both the flagships from vivo and Xiaomi pack 90W fast wired charging, while the Find X8 offers slightly slower 80W charging. Unfortunately, there’s no information available about the dimensions and weight of the vivo X200 yet.

This model will come in Black, White, Green, and Pink color options. As per the Pro Mini will be a compact version of the X200 Pro.

Vivo X200 Pro price leak

Lastly, the Vivo X200 Pro will feature four configurations, including two special Satellite Editions. The standard 16GB+256GB variant is priced at 5,199 Yuan (~$740), while the 16GB+512GB model costs 5,499 Yuan (~$785). The Satellite Edition versions are priced at 5,699 Yuan (~$810) for the 16GB+512GB model and 6,199 Yuan (~$885) for the 16GB+1TB variant. It is expected to arrive in shades, such as Black, White, Blue, and Titanium.

It’s worth noting that last year’s X100 series started at 3,999 Yuan (~$570), and with reports suggesting that new flagships equipped with the Dimensity 9400 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will cost at least 500 Yuan more, the leaked X200 pricing may not be entirely accurate. Enthusiasts and potential buyers will have to wait for the official announcement to confirm these details.
