Xiaomi 15 Ultra rumored to feature 200MP Samsung HP9 periscope telephoto sensor

Xiaomi is working on its upcoming iteration Xiaomi 15 series with base models Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro is expected to launch later this year. Meanwhile, the Ultra model expected to launch early next year will feature an advanced camera system, as revealed by the popular tipster Digital Chat Station.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra

According to DCS, Xiaomi is testing two configurations for the 15 Ultra, with one setup featuring a quad-camera system that includes a 200MP periscope telephoto lens based on the Samsung ISOCELL HP9 sensor, launched in June. The Vivo X100 Ultra also uses this sensor.

Xiaomi 15 Ultra Camera Specs Leak

This aligns with last week’s leak from tipster Ice Universe, who also mentioned that the Ultra model will feature a 200MP sensor and a quad-camera setup.

1. Camera Specs

The HP9 sensor stands out for its 1/1.4-inch optical format and 200 million pixels, each measuring 0.56 micrometers. This high pixel density enables detailed image capture. It uses tetra-pixel technology and can merge pixels in a 4×4 configuration, converting into a 12MP sensor with larger 2.24-micrometer pixels, which enhances bokeh effect as well as low-light photography by capturing more light for clearer, brighter images.

The HP9 sensor includes a remosaic algorithm that provides 2x or 4x in-sensor zoom modes. When combined with the 3x optical zoom telephoto module, it can achieve up to 12x zoom while maintaining the image quality.

HP9 sensor also uses high-refractive-index micro-lenses, which focus light more precisely onto the RGB color filters. This improves light sensitivity by 12% and enhances autofocus accuracy by 10% compared to its predecessor, leading to better low-light performance and sharper, more vibrant photos.

2. Xiaomi 14 Ultra Sensors

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra (check out our full review of Xiaomi 14 Ultra), launched last year, featured a quad-camera setup with impressive specs, including a 50MP main camera with a 1″ Sony LYT-900 sensor, variable aperture, and Hyper OIS. It also had a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens, two telephoto cameras all using IMX858 sensors, and supported 8K video recording.

3. Xiaomi 15 Ultra Specs (Rumored)

Recent leaks about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra reveal that it will feature a dual-layer OLED panel with 2K resolution and an ultrasonic on-screen fingerprint sensor. The device is expected to run on HyperOS 2.0-based Android 15, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and may offer up to 24 GB of RAM and a 6,200mAh battery. While the 15 Pro variant might not be released globally, the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra are expected to be launched worldwide.

Infinix Xpad vs Redmi Pad SE 4G: Battle of the Budget Tablets

Infinix finally ventured into the tablet market with its new Infinix Xpad. Recently, there have been several tablet launches and the Xpad is a budget model. But in this category, there is another worthy contender, which is the Redmi Pad SE 4G. So here’s a head-to-head comparison of these two tablets.

Infinity Xpad vs Redmi Pad SE 4G
Infinity Xpad (L) vs Redmi Pad SE 4G (R)

1. Infinix Xpad vs Redmi Pad SE 4G: Design & Display

Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Pad SE 4G with a compact body that measures just 8.8 mm in thickness and weighs 370 grams. On the other hand, the Infinix Xpad was announced with a flat frame with a metal unibody. This adds to its premium feel. Both models have a flat panel that is surrounded by sizeable bezels, although these are uniform in size on the Xpad.

The Infinix Xpad was announced with a tall 11-inch LCD display that offers an FHD+ resolution, 440 nits of peak brightness, and a 90Hz refresh rate. This makes it have a significantly taller screen and higher resolution since the Redmi Pad SE 4G features an 8.7-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and 600 nits of peak brightness. So it would seem that Infinix’s offering has a clear edge over the Redmi tablet.

2. Hardware

Under the hood, the first ever tablet from Infinix is equipped with the MediaTek Helio G99 Ultimate processor. The chipset is rumored to be coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. A large 7,000mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 18W wired fast charging. On the software side, the tablet runs on the Android 14 OS based XOS custom skin out of the box. The company also offers the XArena Game Space, which brings three different power modes for improved gaming performance. Other notable features include ChatGPT powered ChatGPT voice assistant, USB-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack, quad speakers, and LTE connectivity.

In contrast to this, the Redmi Pad SE 4G was released with the Helio G85 processor that is paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. Users can even expand storage by p to 2TB via a microSD card slot. A sizeable 6,650mAh battery pack runs this device, which only supports standard 10W charging. This model runs on the Android 14 OS based HyperOS custom skin. Redmi also offers Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C, dual SIM slots, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and TUV Rheinland certification for low blue light.

For photography, the Redmi Pad SE 4G features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. On the other hand, the Infinix Xpad houses an 8-megapixel primary camera at the back and an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calls.

3. Pricing & Verdict

Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Pad SE 4G with a starting price tag of just 10,999 INR for the 4BG + 64GB option, while the higher end 4GB + 128GB version costs 11,999 INR. So it is clear that the Chinese tech giant released this tablet for budget centric users.

Infinix Xpad is clearly superior in most areas when comparing specs. Although, the brand has yet to officially confirm its pricing or storage configurations. In other words, we can speculate that it could also have a budget priced similarly but it will likely be more expensive than the Redmi Pad SE 4G.

Infinix XPad vs OnePlus Pad Go: the better choice on a budget

Earlier today, Infinix unveiled a new tablet called the Infinix XPad. Although the brand has not officially revealed the price of this tablet, its specifications indicate that it could land in the sub-$200 range. This will land it smack dab in the middle of tablets like the Redmi Pad SE and the OnePlus Pad Go. In this article, we will discuss how the Infinix XPad compares to the OnePlus Pad Go.

Infinity Xpad vs OnePlus Pad Go
Infinity Xpad (Left) vs OnePlus Pad Go (Right)

1. Design & display

Design-wise, there are some similarities between the two tablets. They both come with a boxy design with flat edges and feature a metal unibody design. The Infinix tablet has its camera island tucked away in the top corner, while the OnePlus Pad comes with a more centered rear camera.

Up-front, the Pad Go offers a slightly larger 11.35-inch LCD display, while the XPad has an 11-inch LCD screen. Both these displays have large bezels around them, however, their resolutions are a different story. The Infinix tablet offers a 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution with a 90Hz refresh rate of 206 ppi pixel density, while the OnePlus tablet has a higher 2408 x 1720 pixels resolution, with a 90Hz refresh rate and 260 ppi pixel density. The Infinix tablet is slightly brighter at 440 nits compared to the 400 nits peak brightness of the OnePlus tablet.

Please Note: When you buy something using the links in our articles, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

2. Performance

Since both the Infinix XPad and the OnePlus Pad Go use the MediaTek Helio G99, it would be easy to assume that they both offer similar performance. However, that is not the case since the OnePlus Pad Go uses UFS 2.2 storage, whereas the XPad uses eMMC storage. Due to this difference, the OnePlus Pad Go will be faster and smoother when opening apps, multitasking, gaming, and processing captured photos and videos.

Both tablets use LPDDR4X RAM and have storage expansion support via a microSD card slot. Infinix offers 4GB RAM + 128GB/8 GB RAM + 256GB storage models, while OnePlus offers 8GB RAM with both the 128GB and 256GB storage models.

3. Optics & audio

Both tablets are equipped with dual 8 MP cameras. The front cameras can record videos in 1080p at 30 FPS, making them suitable for video calls. However, the Infinix XPad stands out with its primary camera’s ability to record in 1440p, in addition to the 1080p at 30 FPS video recording available on the OnePlus Pad Go. In terms of audio, both devices offer a stereo setup with four speakers each.

4. Battery & fast charging

In the battery and fast charging department, OnePlus has a significant advantage as it ships the Pad Go with a large 8000mAh battery paired with 33W fast charging. On the other hand, the Infinix XPad comes with a 7000mAh battery supported by 18W fast charging. Infinix claims to refill 50% of the battery with 40 minutes of charging, while the OnePlus Pad Go generally takes about 100 minutes to go from 0-100%.

5. Verdict

In this comparison, the OnePlus Pad Go emerges as the better tablet across all key areas, boasting a higher-resolution display, superior performance due to faster storage, and a larger battery with quicker charging capabilities. However, Infinix has not yet disclosed the tablet’s price. If priced competitively, it could offer strong value, as it meets many criteria that make it an appealing option in the budget tablet segment.

Alleged Xiaomi Civi series device rumored to be powered by Dimensity 9400

Xiaomi is reportedly testing a phone with the Dimensity 9400 flagship chip. It’s important to note that Xiaomi usually uses Snapdragon flagships to power its flagship devices.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 IPC Performance Leak

The news comes from Weibo tipster 智慧皮卡丘, who also claimed that the Dimensity 9400 chipset performed well in Xiaomi’s tests and that the phone could launch earlier than its expected launch time.

According to rumors, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip will be equipped with the more advanced TSMC 3nm process. The single-core performance is about 30% higher than the previous Dimensity 9300 chip. It suggests that the Dimensity 9400 will perform similarly to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. It is also reported that the Dimensity 9400 should be able to outperform the Apple A17 Pro chip in terms of multi-core performance.

The tipster also hinted that the flagship Xiaomi 15 series will come with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which will be an upgrade from the optical ones Xiaomi has been using for quite a while.

When it comes to the Dimensity 9400-powered phone, it can be the Redmi K80 Ultra or a Xiaomi Civi series device. However, regarding the ahead-of-schedule launch he talked about, it doesn’t seem to be the next K series device. Therefore it is expected to be a Civi series model. Nonetheless, he didn’t reveal anything about the device himself.

The Dimensity 9400 chip will still come with a fully large core design and will boast the Cortex-X925 CPU core developed in cooperation with Arm. This is expected to be the key to the chipset’s 30% improvement in single-core performance. The chipset is also expected to offer an overall improved power efficiency and adopt a faster 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5x memory module.

Honor to roll out intent-based eye-tracking feature to global devices this month

Smartphones have rapidly evolved over the years, yet the way we interact with them remains largely unchanged. For most users, keypads and touchscreens are still the primary interfaces, mainly because they’re undeniably convenient.

This seemingly intuitive interface, however, can be a major hurdle for people with disabilities, such as those suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

ALS is a neurodegenerative condition that causes progressive muscle weakness, often leaving individuals with limited mobility. As a result, pressing a button or even a simple swipe on the screen can be a challenging task for them.

To make smartphones more accessible for these users, Honor introduced an intent-based eye-tracking system with MagicOS 8.0 as part of its commitment to human-centric innovation. The feature allows users to control their phones solely through eye movements.

“ALS patients often retain control only of their eye movement in the later stages of the disease”, says Limore Noach, executive director of the ALS Foundation Netherlands. Thanks to Honor, these users now have a new way to interact with their smartphones.

The system is called “intent-based” because it uses artificial intelligence to understand what the user wants to do. This makes it easier and more natural to navigate the phone.

The company demoed this intent-based eye-tracking system at MWC this year on the Chinese Magic 6 Pro smartphone. They’ve now confirmed that the feature will be rolled out to global devices starting August 27th. However, Honor has yet to specify which smartphones will support this technology. We hope that every device receiving MagicOS 8.0 will include it.

Looking ahead, Honor is also developing a brain-computer interface (BCI) system, which will allow people to communicate with external devices using brain signals—an incredibly convenient method for individuals with limited mobility.

While the BCI system is still in development, Honor is running a social media campaign, #HONORtheChallenger, to raise awareness for ALS across platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. The campaign is endorsed by athletes like Nile Wilson and has already garnered a global engagement of 11 million.

Upcoming Apple Watch SE 3 rumored to adopt a plastic frame

The Apple Watch SE (2022) launched with a plastic/sapphire crystal back and aluminum frame. Now it is rumored that the next-generation Apple Watch SE will come with a plastic casing. Based on the previous release dates, it is expected that the product will be launched in September this year.

Apple Watch SE (2022)

The news comes from a Bloomberg report, that claims that the next-generation Apple Watch SE plans to abandon the metal case and use a plastic case instead.

If true, it will be the first Apple Watch SE to come with a plastic frame. Reportedly the aim behind this move is to reduce costs in the hope of reducing the retail price to about $200. However, there could be other benefits of using the new material such as easier manufacturing. As compared to plastic, metal surfaces are harder to paint and it’s easy to provide a variety of color options with a plastic material. In addition to that, the reduced price (if true) can make the product affordable to a wider range of users.

It can be especially beneficial for school students who are not allowed to take their phones with them to the school. Here the watches can become an alternative to the more expensive smartphones that can help the parents stay connected.

Another Nokia Lumia-inspired HMD phone in the works; Specs & renders leak

HMD recently released the Crest and Crest Max smartphones in India, and it is also working on other smartphones like the HMD Barbie phone. In addition to that, tipster @smashx_60 on X (formerly Twitter) has revealed some details about another upcoming smartphone called the HMD Hyper.

HMD Hyper

Looks-wise, the smartphone is quite similar to the Nokia Lumia-inspired HMD Skyline, which debuted last month. It has a flat display with large bezels and curved sides. The display will use an OLED panel, providing FHD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it has a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It is also said to come with a MicroSD card slot to expand storage.

For optics, the device is said to come with a 50 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization, paired with a 13 MP camera and an 8 MP camera. The tipster also claims that the device will have a 50 MP selfie camera capable of FHD video recording at 60FPS. The primary camera will allow for up to 4K video recording at 30FPS. It is also said to feature a 4,700mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

As per these details, the HMD Hyper will likely be a toned-down version of the HMD Skyline which features a 144Hz OLED display, with a 108MP primary camera and 50MP telephoto lens. The HMD Skyline also houses a slightly more powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. The launch date of the HMD Hyper is still under wraps.

Is this the OnePlus 13? Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and 2K Quad Curve display leaked!

A known tipster has just revealed information regarding an upcoming smartphone that features Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. It seems that a brand is working on a new phone with Qualcomm’s next gen flagship and a curved display from BOE. While the name of this device is still unclear, this might be the OnePlus 13.

OnePlus 13: Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Meets 2K Quad Curve display

OnePlus 12

The news arrives from Digital Chat Station who shared this information on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). DCS claimed that a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 phone is in the works with a 2K quad curved display. This screen is a BOE 8T LTPO panel that houses an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Apart from these display specs, the unknown phone is also expected to feature an IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust resistance.

In the comments section of this online post, Digital Chat Station stated that the OnePlus 13 will use a micro-curved screen and may appear similar to the Oppo Reno 12. Some of these are in line with our previous report. The OnePlus 13 is rumored to be one of the first to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. DCS claimed last month that the new OnePlus flagship will be powered by a massive battery pack that is rated over 6,000mAh. However, rumors suggest that it may lack support for wireless charging.

OnePlus 13

Similarly, we also have some details regarding its camera systems. The device will have three 50-megapixel cameras. This will consist of a Sony LYT-808 primary camera, a Sony IMX882 camera for ultrawide shots, and another IMX882 camera for periscope zoom. All three sensors may have a 50-megapixel resolution and come with Hasselblad camera optimizations. So stick around for more as we will be providing updates when additional information surfaces online.

NOTHING Ear, NOTHING Ear(a) & CMF Buds Unboxing & First Impressions

We have three earbuds from NOTHING, the NOTHING Ear, the NOTHING Ear 8, and the CMF earbuds by NOTHING. You know, NOTHING has always surprised by exquisite design, and this time they put the excellent design into the affordable models.

Nothing ear

So first , let’s unbox the Nothing Ear. This one is actually the third generation of the lineup, and I think it has improved a lot. But although you see that there are nothing, you know, quite improved in the design, but I still think this is very unique. And enough talking, let’s unbox this one.

Now let’s open the box. As you can see, the earbuds are in the center and let’s get it out. As for the accessories, nothing there. And I think it’s underneath here. Now we have four ear tips here, From small to large. And we have another C to C cable. This one is not transparent, but still, Very good looking, very aesthetically pleasing. It has a little Nothing logo on it. All right, let’s put it aside. right on the top, you can see that it can be paired up with the Nothing X app, which we will showcase later.

We have the CMF phone here, and we will try to pair this earbuds with the phone later. All right. All right, so this is the Nothing Ear and it is actually the third generation in the lineup. And I wouldn’t say they are that different in the overall design from the previous generations, but still very unique. And what we got here is the black one, I would call it. And the first thing I noticed is that there’s a dent here on top. And also there are two bumps at the bottom. So I think they are used to accommodate the unique shape of the earbuds.

For example, on the top, this thing will make sure that the earbuds stay in places, And these two bumps at the bottom is used to accommodate the special shape. And this one, I think, is a magnet to hold the case in place. Now let’s open it up. You know, whenever you open, you know, or try on some Nothing products, you always see the Nothing font because they are all over the website and all the, you know, marketing materials.

This one is no difference. For the earbuds themselves, you can see that they are also quite unique design and transparent shell and also black theme color.Right on the surface, you can notice two things. there are very few metal parts on the surface. Because they are transparent shell, you can always see the components inside. But generally, they are really good looking.

The second is that on the left, You will see that this one indicates that this is for the left ear and the red dot indicates that this is for the right ear. This is actually a very thoughtful design. To pair them up, there’s a white dot and a red dot in the case. So to make sure that you will never put them in the wrong place. This is actually a very thoughtful design. This is actually the first time I’ve tried them on.

So yeah, let’s put them on. All right. I think the wear and comfort is quite good because they are not long, they are not dragging your ears down, and also the stem is not in the way actually. And even they are not paired up with the phone, the noise cancelling is kicking in. Now let’s try to pair them to the app to see what will happen.

Once you take these earbuds out and you have the phone ready, they have the automatic connection. It will try to identify the devices near the phone. Let’s update later. Noise Control, and Bass Exchange. Let’s try the Noise Control. Right on the top, you can see that there are three modes to choose from. Noise Cancellation, and Off. And in Noise Cancellation, you can also try to set it into different modes, like High, or Adaptive. I will just leave it for the High for now.

Let’s try the transparency. When I set it to the transparency mode, there’s just a little notification. It’s not like a transparency, you know, the earbuds read to you transparency mode. It’s like a breathe, a breathe sound. It’s just like a very noticeable breathe sound, actual breathe sound to let you know you’re in the transparency mode. This is actually, Very fresh to me. I’ve never experienced that before. Very thoughtful design. Noise cancellation. another different sound to let you know you are in the noise cancellation.

So during the Limited time Deal, there’s a $40 off discount, so bringing the price to $119. I think it is a really good choice for, let’s say, It can really take down those high-end earbuds. So make sure you choose this one.

Buy Nothing Ear

Nothing Ear(a)

next up we have the Nothing Ear(a). This one is kind of an affordable option other than the Nothing Ear, the high-end one. But this one still keeps some of the iconic design and also some of the highlights or the special features for the Nothing Ear.Now let’s unbox this one. Still a simple strap here to unbox it. still the same box design as the Nothing Ear. the box is a little bit smaller, but still a boxy design. At the back, you can see this little metal hinge and Type-C port.

Let’s open it up. Right up, you can see that they share a very similar design with the nothing ear. And compared to that one, other than the difference in the cases, this one has moved the button inside the case. All right, let’s take them out.

you can see these transparent shell and I would say the difference between them is the dots, This one has theBlack at the left and red at the right side. first impression, I think they are the same. On paper, they both have 45 dB noise cancellation, and from my personal experience, I think they are the same.Other than the noise cancellation, the wearing comfort is still very good, so I wouldn’t complain about that. And other than these key features that you want from earbuds, they are the same.

There are maybe some sacrifices on the transmission protocols or some of the codec. If you truly want the high-end one, go for the nothing ear. But if you want that key feature fromWireless earbuds and you don’t want to pay such price for that. This one is also very good. Now during the prime day, this only cost you $79. So which is a really good deal. You have the iconic nothing design and also some of the key features. And if you’re willing to sacrifice a little bit on the sound quality, then this one is a really good choice.

CMF Buds

All right, the CMF earbuds by Nothing. CMF is a sub-brand of Nothing. They focus on iconic or refreshing design while keeping the price relatively low.I like them a lot actually. Buy CMF Buds Here

So let’s check them out. okay now this is a very refreshing design because this is very orange i can say and it’s relatively small a little bit thick i would say but still you can hold it in hand very comfortably and this wheel is not meant for a press or anything rather you can rotate it like this and as you can seeThere are two holes here, And you can attach a lanyard here so you can hook it up on your neck and then you can go out. People can definitely recognize you on the streets.

All right, let’s open it up. All right, about the earbuds, they are not bulky at all and the refreshing color really represents your characters. And the beans here, I think they are quite similar to the nothing ears, but we will put them side by side to show you the difference. Now the print here, they are the same at the bottom here, as you can see. But on the top, as you can see, these are actually the touch area. On the left, it’s not a full dot, but on the right, it’s a full dot or let’s say this is a circle, this is a dot. So these are the touching areas.

And for the beans themselves, they are quite similar, Now let’s put them on to see the wearing comfort. I cannot feel anything wearing them. So now I’ve connected the earbuds to the NothingX app. And as you can see, there’s only one level of noise canceling in here, but you’re still not missing the transparency mode.

But for the noise cancellation capability, it claims to be 42 dB, so a little bit less than the 45 dB on the other models. In the environment I’m in right now, I cannot feel much difference between them, but maybe we can feel the difference when it is in theNoisy environments, but let’s leave it to the next time. Now about the wearing comfort is still really good.

I can assure you. And also let’s play some music to see how the sound quality is. after a few minutes with the earbuds, I think it has the best sound quality in this price range. Before trying on this, I was thinking that maybe it was just like those lousy earbuds that just have a really deep bass, but nothing else.

For this budget earbuds, I think it has the best value for money. All right, this is the unboxing and the first impression of these three buds. Nothing Ear, Nothing Ear A, and CMF earbuds by Nothing. I think they are positioned differently, but they also have the best sound quality and other capabilities in the price range.

Huawei updates budget-friendly MateView SE with 100Hz refresh rate

Huawei has quietly refreshed its monitor lineup with a new entry – the MateView SE (2024). It succeeds the 2022 model with a notable update to the display specs. However, the overall experience remains familiar for those already using the MateView SE (2022). Let’s get into its details here.

Huawei MateView SE (2024) Specifications

The core design and 23.8-inch 1080p IPS panel of the latest MateView SE is the same as its previous counterpart. Huawei, nonetheless, has bumped the refresh rate from 75Hz to 100Hz. This could be a minor benefit for basic tasks like scrolling or navigating menus, but it won’t drastically impact gaming performance – especially considering the Full HD resolution.

For connectivity, the original MateView SE offered a VGA port alongside HDMI and DisplayPort. But Huawei opted to ditch the VGA port entirely in the 2024 iteration.

Since VGA is an outdated standard, and most modern computers and devices have switched to HDMI for audio and video, its removal is unlikely to be a concern.

The rest of the specifications remain largely the same. The monitor maintains its 250-nit peak brightness and 90% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, which is decent for basic productivity tasks but falls short of high-end creative displays. The 5-way joystick control and TÜV Rheinland certification for low blue light and flicker-free operation also carry over.

Huawei MateView SE 2024 Specs Design

Huawei throws in an “e-book mode” that adjusts the display to a monochrome color scheme for a more paper-like reading experience, potentially helpful for extended reading sessions.

Price and Availability

The MateView SE (2024) is available in China for a price of just CNY 569 (roughly USD 91). That price makes it a budget-friendly option. However, there’s yet to be a word on international availability.

Xiaomi launches new $20 desktop charging socket with multitude of ports

Xiaomi has expanded its product lineup with the launch of its new 67W Desktop Fast Charging socket. Priced at 149 yuan (~ $20) with an introductory offer of 129 yuan (~ $18), the socket is now available across major e-commerce platforms in China including JD.com. Let’s look at what the adapter has to offer in terms of features.

Xiaomi 67W Desktop Fast Charging Socket Overview

Designed with simplicity in mind, the socket comes in classic black-and-white color options. It measures 46.5×105.0×42.0mm, the cable has a length of 1.5 meters, and the device features a flame-retardant polycarbonate shell for added safety.

The socket has two standard two-prong outlets and two five-prong grounded outlets that are capable of handling a maximum power output of 2500W. You can use them for your monitor, desktop, laptop, or any other high-power-consuming device.

For charging needs such as smartphones, tablets, or wearables, the socket includes four USB ports. Two of them are USB-C ports, each capable of delivering 67W fast charging. The other two are USB-A ports with a maximum output of 22.5W per port.

The power distribution between these ports gets a bit complex. While each USB-C port can deliver the full 67W on its own, combining them reduces the output to a maximum of 45W for one port and 20W for the other.

Similarly, combining USB-C with USB-A ports results in a 45W maximum for the USB-C and a lower 18W for the USB-A. All four ports used together are capped at a combined 15W.

There are also some caveats to be aware of. When charging a watch with USB-A ports, users might encounter a repetitive charging notification even after the watch is full. Xiaomi says this to a normal detection process and it should stop after half an hour. But it’s recommended to remove the device after charging.
