Apple iPhone 16 lineup is set to launch later this year. While the announcement is still months away, a fresh report has revealed more details regarding the next-gen flagship, the iPhone 16 Pro Max. So here are all the details.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max: Battery life bump?

The news arrives from known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apparently, the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max may offer a longer battery life compared to its predecessor. But the brand isn’t simply expanding the capacity of the battery. Rather, it is rumored to employ a cell with higher energy density to bring a longer endurance while maintaining the battery size. On the other hand, Apple may also choose to use this technology to maintain a similar battery life but make the cell smaller. But since the design isn’t slated for a major overhaul, we could expect the battery life to see a noticeable bump thanks to the newer battery tech as well as the new A18 Pro processor.

This, in turn, could make the iPhone 16 Pro Max lighter and possibly slimmer as well. Kuo added that the supply chain survey has hinted at a boost in energy density (Wh.kg) for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Although, this density could also lead to increasing thermal but Apple could deal with overheating via a stainless steel battery case. This would mark the first time that the company uses this material on its battery case.

It is still unclear what technology Apple intends to use on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Furthermore, the shift to stainless steel is in line with the EU’s future requirements for battery replaceability. However, it may now dissipate heat as effectively as aluminum. So stick around for more as we will be providing more updates when additional information is available regarding the 2024 iPhones.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has offered some predictions on the color options for the upcoming iPhone 16 series, and with his proven track record, his words carry significant weight. As Apple typically unveils its new iPhones in September, these color choices could be what greets us this fall.

Kuo, via a social media post, suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will come in Black, White (or Silver), Gray (or Natural Titanium), and Rose. The Rose color will replace the current Blue Titanium option of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

For the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, Kuo mentions Black, Green, Pink, Blue, and White. Here, the key change is White which will replace the Yellow from the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus’s color palette.

Kuo also mentions that Apple might tweak the names of existing colors slightly, and even if a name sounds familiar, the shade might be different. For instance, the new White might have subtle variations compared to previous versions.

An X user @ArnaudDucouret has created an image showing what the iPhone 16 Pro series could look like based on Kuo’s predictions. If accurate, this would be the first time the Pro line will have a Rose color.

While these are just predictions, Kuo’s history suggests a high chance of them being accurate. September is still a few months away, but details about the iPhone 16 series are gradually trickling out. We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop on any new developments regarding these devices.

Just last week, we covered another leak that also shared renders and specs of the Razr 50 series. Now, Evan Blass has shared (1,2) more official renders have offered us a proper look at the design of the two devices as well as their color options. The base model also arrives with a major upgrade in terms of design. The Razr 50 brings a much larger 3.63-inch pOLED cover display compared to the Razr 40’s 1.5-inch external panel. The rear panel is also getting a leather finish for a more premium look. The Razr 50 Ultra is also getting a similar design update but with a larger 4-inch cover screen.

Meanwhile, the primary screen on both devices is a 6.9-inch pOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate (165Hz on the Razr 50 Ultra). Under the hood, the vanilla variant is equipped with the Dimensity 7300X SoC while the Ultra model offers the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The duo will run on the Android 14 OS out of the box. The entry-level flip phone may come with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a 4,200mAh battery pack.

For optics, the Ultra features two 50-megapixel sensors on the rear and a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. The Y200t GT features the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, up to 12 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and up to 512 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The phone packs a massive 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging. For security, the device is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Vivo Y200 GT and Y200t run on OriginOS 4-based Android 14. Both phones offer connectivity features, such as dual SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 (Y200t) / Bluetooth 5.4 (Y200 GT), and a USB-C port. The Y200t has a 3.5mm audio jack, while the GT model lacks support for it. On the other hand, the GT model has an IR blaster, which is unavailable on the Y200t.

The Y200t variants are priced at 1,199 Yuan (~$170), 1,299 Yuan (~$185), 1,499 Yuan (~$210), and 1,699 Yuan (~$240), respectively. It will be available in Qingshan (blue) and Aurora (green). On the other hand, the Y200 GT variants are priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$225), 1,799 Yuan (~$250), 1,999 Yuan (~$280), and 2,299 Yuan (~$325), respectively. It comes in Storm and Thunder color variants.

As can be seen in the above poster, the three variants are now available with a 100 Yuan discount. Currently, it remains unclear if the device’s price has undergone a permanent reduction.

The real-life images of the new Mirror Porcelain White of the Redmi Turbo 3 shared by Zhang Yu show that it has a white frame on the front. Additionally, the phone’s back panel has a white back. Apart from the new white variant, the phone is also available in shades, such as Titanium, Green Blade, and Black Crystal.

Design-wise, the iQOO Pad 2 closely resembles the Pro version, featuring a single camera and LED flash housed in a circular module on the back. It also includes a pogo pin connector for an optional keyboard attachment, but it lacks a fingerprint sensor.

According to information from Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the iQOO Pad 2 will sport a 12.1-inch LCD screen with a 2.8K resolution (2800 x 1968 pixels) and a 144Hz refresh rate. The tablet will be powered by a 10,000mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging. Camera specs include a 5-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera.

The iQOO Pad 2 will be available in gray, blue, and silver. It is expected that this model will be rebranded as the Vivo Pad 3 in China a few weeks after its release.

DCS revealed that the Pad 2 will come in three configurations: 8 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage, 8 GB of RAM with 256 GB of storage, and 12 GB of RAM with 512 GB of storage. There is no information available about the price of the Pad 2. The same is likely to be released with the Vivo Pad 3 moniker after a few weeks in China.

Huawei‘s developer conference in June is expected to bring the Beta launch of the HarmonyOS NEXT version, a significant milestone for the company’s homegrown operating system. While official details are still under wraps, a recent leak suggests a wider rollout in September across various device categories.

Tipster Digital Chat Station claims internal plans for a September launch of HarmonyOS NEXT with compatibility for “candy bar flagships, folding flagships, mid-range phones, tablets, and smartwatches” expected in the latter half of 2024. 

The candy bar flagship mentioned in the leak likely refers to the upcoming Huawei Mate 70 series, which based on previous reports, is expected to launch in early September.

Technically, with HarmonyOS NEXT, Huawei is making a complete break from Android. It ditches the traditional Android Open Source Project (AOSP) codebase completely and relies entirely on Huawei’s self-developed Hongmeng kernel and system applications, making it incompatible with Android apps.

Despite this shift, Huawei has been successful in convincing thousands of companies and institutions to develop native applications for HarmonyOS NEXT.  The company announced that over 4,000 native apps have already been developed for the new OS, with more on the way. These apps span various categories like navigation, news, finance, and games.

Huawei’s official goal is to have 5,000 native apps available by the end of 2024, with a long-term vision of reaching 500,000. The success of this transition will depend heavily on app developer adoption and user experience with the new app ecosystem.

The September launch timeframe suggests an ambitious rollout plan for Huawei. Whether the new HarmonyOS can establish itself as a viable alternative in the mobile operating system market remains to be seen.

Samsung could reveal the Galaxy Watch 7 series in the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event rumored to be set for July. The predecessor was also launched in July, last year. Although Samsung has not officially revealed any information about the new series, it has surfaced on a couple of certification platforms revealing some key information.

The latest is the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification (spotted by MySmartPrice), which reveals our Galaxy Watch 7 models with model numbers SM-L300, SM-L305, SM-L310, and SM-L315, alongside a Galaxy Watch FE with model number SM-R861. So let’s take a look at the revealed specifications of the models.

SM-L305 to offer 15W fast wireless charging

The Galaxy Watches with model numbers SM-L300 and SM-L310 appear to be Wi-Fi only, while the AM-L305 and SM-L315 could be the LTE versions of them respectively. The SM-L300 and SM-L310 could come with 40mm and 44mm diameters respectively.

Additionally, the certification listing also reveals that the SM-L305 (supports LTE) will support 15W fast wireless charging. For those unfamiliar, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 5 support 10W wireless charging. The model number of the new 15W wireless charger is EP-OL300. Unfortunately, the listing does not reveal any more information about the chipset or battery of the new series.

For an idea of what to expect, the predecessor equips the Exynos W930 (5nm) chip with dual 1.4GHz Cortex-A55 cores which are powered by a 425mAh battery and was launched with OneUI Watch 5 based on Android Wear OS 4.

Notably, the Galaxy Watch FE with the model number SM-R861 will offer a slower 5W wireless charging support according to the listing, which is the same as the Galaxy Watch 4. The FE model was also spotted on the latest OneUI build.

To sum it up, there will be three Galaxy Watch models: two with and without LTE connectivity, and the new Galaxy Watch FE, which may not offer LTE connectivity.

It supports 300 nits of peak brightness. Speaking of eye care, the panel boasts TUV Rheinland low blue light emission certification. According to the company, it equips their self-developed technology to offer a natural light-like look.
