In simple terms, Google is saying, “If you make your app great for big screens, we’ll make it easier for people to find your app in our Play Store.” Apps that follow Google’s guidelines for big screens will now show up higher in search results. Starting in August, apps that can adjust their size, fill the whole screen, and work well in both upright and sideways views will be more visible.

Google is also planning to show pictures of what the app looks like on different devices. This way, if you’re considering downloading an app, you’ll know what it’s going to look like on your tablet or foldable phone. Doogee, the Chinese smartphone and tablet maker, is expanding its product line with the upcoming launch of its first rugged tablet – the Doogee R10. The tablet is set to hit the market in May this year.

The Doogee R10 is expected to be powered by the Mediatek Helio G99 SoC with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM. It will also feature a 10.36″ 2K IPS display, which will make it ideal for streaming videos, playing games, or getting work done on the go.

Running Android 13 out of the box, the tablet will come with 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, providing ample space for all your apps, files, and media. Additionally, the tablet will feature a microSD card slot for further storage expansion of up to 2TB.

The Doogee R10 will sport a 20MP Sony sensor on the rear and a 16MP Samsung lens on the front. It will also conform to the High-Res Audio standards set by the Japan Audio Association and come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Connectivity options will include Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6, as well as support for LTE networks. The tablet will pack a 10,800 mAh battery, which should provide ample power for extended use. The Doogee R10 will also come with a TPU leather case in its retail package.

The dedicated mode brings together all the fun things for kids such as books, games, and videos to one place. Now, it has announced Entertainment Space which can be simply described as Kids Space for older members of the family.

Entertainment Space brings together your books, movies, shows from streaming services, recommended YouTube videos, and games. There are three tabs which are listed below:

Watch Tab – this has movies, TV shows, and YouTube videos. Users will be able to find what to watch, rent or buy movies from Google TV, and resume movies and shows they were watching. If you don’t know what to watch, Google says there is a recommendation row that curates content from google TV, Twitch, Hulu, and several other services.

Games Tab – you will find your favorite games here. This tab also has new games for you to discover, some of which support instant play so you can play them right away without the need to download them.

Read Tab – this tab is for book lovers and it brings together all of your books including audiobooks. Google mentions free previews for some books before you commit to buying them. There is also a recommendation row based on current trends as well as discounted books.

Entertainment space will make its debut this month on Walmart’s Onn tablets. It will then be made available globally later this year for select Android tablets made by Lenovo, Sharp, and more.

Samsung‘s big event is scheduled for February 20 but the Korean giant has already announced a number of products ahead of the launch. We guess it is to prevent next week’s product launch from being too crowded. Today, it announced the Galaxy Tab S5e and the Galaxy Tab A (2019) which are pretty interesting devices.

Galaxy Tab S5e

Don’t be fooled by the name, the Galaxy Tab S5e isn’t as powerful as the Galaxy Tab S4 which is currently Samsung’s most powerful tablet at the moment but it does pack some punch too. And of course, the name hints at the arrival of the Galaxy Tab S5 in the future.

The tablet has an aluminum body and comes in black, gold, and silver. It measures 245 x 160 x 5.5 mm and weighs 400g making it Samsung’s lightest and slimmest tablet till date. However, that slim profile means the audio jack gets to go.

The Galaxy Tab S5e has a 10.5-inch 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED display with slim bezels. It is powered by a Snapdragon 670 processor with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of expandable storage (512GB max.).

It has a 13MP primary camera on its back and an 8MP selfie camera. There is Dolby Atmos which is integrated with AKG-tuned quad speakers. Samsung says the speakers have auto rotate stereo technology that automatically determines if you are holding the tablet in portrait or landscape mode.

The Tab S5e runs Android 9 Pie out of the box with One UI on top. There is Bixby 2.0 so you can use it as a hub to control your smart home devices. It packs a 7,040mAh battery with support for fast charging via a USB type-c port. The tablet comes with Spotify and a free three months premium subscription for new members. There is no audio jack but there is a Type-C connector in the box. A fingerprint scanner is buried under the power button and there is also support for face unlock.

Samsung says the Galaxy Tab S5e will launch in the second quarter of the year with a starting price of $400 in the US. There will be LTE and Wi-Fi only variants priced at €479 and €419 respectively with availability scheduled for April 5 in Germany. Samsung says pre-orders will begin March 14 and run through April 4 with a free pair of AKG Headphones Y500 included. It will also be available via carriers later in the year.

The tablet will have an optional keyboard sleeve that connects via pogo pins if you need to use it for some light work. It also has Samsung DeX in case you want to use it as a desktop PC. We think it would have been really nice if the Galaxy Tab S5e shipped with an S Pen.

The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) also launched today, in Germany. It is much cheaper than the Galaxy Tab S5e and also comes with less powerful specs. It has a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS LCD display surrounded by much thicker bezels. There is an Exynos 7904 under the metal housing and it is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage (400GB max.).

The Tab A 10.1 (2019) has an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera with support for face unlock. There are dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB Type-C port. It packs a 6150mAh battery and comes in black, silver, and gold too. It also ships with Android 9 Pie with One UI on top.

The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) is priced at €210 for the Wi-Fi version and €270 for the LTE version. It will also be available in Germany starting April 5. There is no news on availability in other regions.

I am sure that majority of the readers here, had one or even multiple Nokia branded smartphones in the past. This isn’t surprising since Nokia was once the king of the smartphone market. However, the last decade wasn’t too good for the company, with losses increasing and its decision to stick with Microsoft’s Windows platform leading to its ultimate demise. We’ve all dreamed about an Android based Nokia smartphone in the past, with Finnish company’s solid hardware and design and Google’s open source platform. While we haven’t really seen a real Nokia based Android smartphone in the past, this is soon going to change.

After the establishment of the new ‘Nokia Technologies’ company, we have heard multiple times that it wasn’t going to enter the smartphone market directly. There wasn’t much information in the past about its plans for this market, but now, things have become a lot clearer.

We are definitely going to see Nokia Android smartphones in the coming months.

Nokia Technologies revealed today that it has given exclusive global license to HMD Global, a startup company based out of its own home country of Finland. This means that HMD Global can now manufacture smartphones as well as tablets bearing the Nokia brand name. In return, Nokia Technologies gets royalty for using its name. The company also has conditionally agreed to acquire rights to use the Nokia name from Microsoft.

At the same time, Microsoft is selling its feature phone business to FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of Foxconn for $350 million. The deal is expected to close by the second half of 2016. And guess what, FIH and HMD Global have entered into a collaborative deal which gives full operational control of sales, marketing and distribution of Nokia branded smartphones globally.

So, it looks like finally things have come together to revive Nokia’s smartphone business. The company also confirms that Nokia smartphones and tablets will be based on Android, which is what we wanted from the start.

In case you are wondering, Nokia Technologies will have a seat on the board of HMD Global to ensure that the quality and reputation of Nokia’s name is maintained. Given that HMD Global is founded by ex-Nokia employees, we can expect great design on the upcoming Nokia branded smartphones. The company also confirmed that ex-Nokia executive and current head of Microsoft’s Mobile Division Business for Greater Asia, Middle East and Africa, Arto Nummela will be the CEO of HMD.

A new tablet from Lenovo just looks at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In the FCC documents, the tablet has a name Lenovo Smart Tab II with a screen measuring about 10 inches.

The tablet is likely included in the series is one of Lenovo IdeaTab S2 including the S2109 and S2110 tablet. Detailed information about Lenovo Smart Tab II is still vague.

In addition it comes with 10 inches screen size, the tablet will be equipped with dual cameras. The tablet also has a battery endurance of up to 23 hours. Another feature that can be found on these tablets are WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity.

Images obtained at Liliputing, there is a Vodafone logo in the tablet. This indicates that the tablet will be present for the first time a company based in the UK.
