The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has been a hot topic recently. The upcoming device has been subject to many rumors, be it leaks hinting at an early 2022 release date or live images of the phone surfacing on the internet.

Now, according to a report by 91mobiles, the Indian launch date of the device is tipped to be near the global announcement of the phone, meaning in January of 2022. Previous reports have revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is set to launch at CES 2022 in January of 2022. The release is expected to be a soft launch rather than a dedicated event. The initial supply of these premium flagship-grade devices is also likely to be limited due to the ongoing chip shortage.

This report comes via industry sources of 91mobiles, which further reveals that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will be available in White, Black, Pink, and Green color options in India.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Specs, feature, and pricing (Rumored)

Coming to the rumored specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, the device features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 or the company’s own Exynos 2100 chipsets. The Snapdragon 888 variant is expected to be shipped to the U.S., while the Indian subcontinent is rumored to receive devices with an Exynos 2100 under their hood.

The device will come in two memory variants — 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB of internal storage. It will be powered by a 4,380mAh battery and support 25W fast charging technology.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is said to have a triple camera layout on the back, with a 64MP primary sensor, which might be paired with a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone could house a 32MP snapper for selfies and video chats on the front.

It is likely to boot Android 11 OS with OneUI 3.1 custom skin out of the box. Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C port for charging and data sync.

The base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage will cost EUR 920 while the 8GB RAM with 256GB of internal storage version will be priced at EUR 985. Note that the pricing is included the local value-added tax (VAT).

ASUS has announced three Google Chrome OS-powered laptops at CES 2021. These three models are targeted at a different consumer group, namely enterprises, general consumers, and gamers. They are called Chromebook CX9, Chromebook Flip C536/CX5, and Chromebook Flip CM5 respectively. As you can notice from their names, the latter two are convertibles but the former notebook is not. That said, the company has revealed the key specs of these products, however, their price and availability are a mystery as of now.

This ASUS Chromebook meant for enterprises is MIL-STD 810H-certified for durability, weighs around 1KG, measures 16mm in thickness. It is powered by up to 11th Generation Intel Core i7 processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics and features Titan C security for storing sensitive information such as passwords and encryption keys.

Other notable features include a 14-inch NanoEdge display, magnesium-alloy chassis, Thunderbolt 4, fingerprint sensor, webcam shield, WiFi 6, Harman Kardon speakers, and up to 4TB storage.

Now, at CES 2021, the company has unveiled its successor, ThinkBook Plus Gen 2, with a host of improvements. The new ThinkBook Plus Gen 2 flaunts a larger 12-inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixels) secondary monochromatic e-ink display with support for multi-touch and 68% screen-to-body ratio. For those unaware, the first generation features a 10.8-inch e-ink display with a 48% screen-to-body ratio.

At CES 2021, ASUS has announced ROG Swift PG32UQ as the world’s first 32-inch gaming monitor with HDMI 2.1. This latest monitor from the company comes with similar specs as the recently unveiled Acer Nitro XV282K KV and LG UltraGear 27GP950.

During the CES 2021 event, Lenovo took the stage to unveil its new Legion lineup of gaming laptops that arrive with a refresh of its internal specifications. The new laptops feature AMD’s latest Ryzen 5000 series processors, paired with NVIDIA’s second gen RTX series GPUs.

In the event, the company announced the Lenovo Legion 7, which is its series’ flagship gaming laptop. The laptop has been upgraded to a 16 inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio with a 2560 x 1600px resolution and a high refresh rate of 165Hz and a response time of just 3ms. Furthermore, the display can output 500 nits of brightness and is also HDR 400 certified with Dolby Vision support and NVIDIA G Sync as well. This makes the laptop a great option for both gaming and creative work.

Under the hood, the Lenovo Legion 7 is powered by Team Red’s latest Ryzen 5000 series of laptop processors, which is based on the 7nm Zen 3 architecture. Users can choose up to a high end Ryzen 9 chip, although, the lower configurations and options are currently unknown. Alongside the powerful chipset is an NVIDIA RTX series graphics card, which is most likely to be the new RTX 3000 series GPUs. For memory, the company is also offering up to 32GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM and 2TB of M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD storage. The laptop will be launched in June 2021 with a price tag of 1,699.99 US Dollars.

For those that are leaning more towards portability and accessibility, the company has also unveiled the new Lenovo Legion Slim 7. This laptop is a lighter and thinner gaming notebook, which is even slimmer and weighs lesser than the previous model which weighed around 1.9 kilograms. According to the company, the Legion Slim 7 is the thinnest and lightest Legion gaming laptop ever made. It sports a 15.6 inch display with up to a 4K panel with a 60Hz refresh rate or an FHD panel with a 165Hz refresh rate. Unfortunately, the company has yet to reveal the pricing for the laptop, but we do know that it will launch in May 2021, as per TheVerge.

Lastly, the company also announced its Lenovo Legion 5 series of gaming laptops. The lineup consists of two variants of the Legion 5, both the 15 and 17 inch versions, along with the Legion 5 Pro gaming laptop. All three models will begin shipping in March 2021 and will be the first from the 2021 Legion family to hit the markets. The Legion 5 Pro starts from 999 US Dollars and offers a display that is similar to the Legion 7. The primary difference between the two series is the internal specs, with Legion 5 Pro topping out with a Ryzen 7 chip and just 16GB of RAM.

On the other hand, the Legion 5 starts from 769 US Dollars and will also arrive with up to a Ryzen 7 chip as well. However, it can be configured with up to 32 GB of RAM alongside 2TB of SSD storage. This laptop also sports the Ryzen CPU and NVIDIA GPU combo, with the only difference being the size of the display. the 15 inch variant arrives with an FHD panel with 60Hz, 120Hz, and 165Hz while the 17 inch offers just a 144Hz and 60Hz option.

At the CES 2021, Lenovo updated two of its top-tier devices — Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Lenovo X1 Yoga. Both the devices are now powered by the 11th generation Intel processors with vPro support.

The devices also come with an updated display panel. This time, the company has opted for a 16:10 aspect ratio screen with a reduced bottom bezel. It also supports Dolby Vision for display and Dolby Atmos for audio. For the first time, these laptops come with support for Dolby Voice for online meetings.

The laptop features a 14-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and comes with Full HD+ resolution as well as UHD+ resolution support and the brightness on the device can reach a peak value of 500nits.

Along with the Intel 11th generation processor, the device packs Intel Xe graphics, promising better overall performance compared to the previous generation models. It packs up to 32GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 2TB SSD.

It comes with an optional 4G LTE or 5G connectivity option. Running the Windows 10 operating system, the device supports Windows Hello IR with a privacy shutter. It is powered by a 57WHr battery and should offer more battery life than its predecessor.

CES 2021 is blowing up with a lot of announcements despite being a virtual event. Among the lot, a Japanese Startup now says that its wearable can help you monitor Blood Glucose without piercing your skin.

Quantum Operation Inc., has showcased a prototype of a Wearable that typically is like a Smartwatch. It says that the wearable can measure and monitor the Glucose levels in Blood precisely in addition to heart rate and ECG. Apparently, this is possible due to the presence of a Spectrometer inside.

On wearing it on the wrist, a user will have to just press the monitoring option from the Menu. The results will take about 20 seconds. If you consider Blood Glucose monitoring so far it requires a person to pierce his/her fingers or use an implanted monitor. However, this prototype reportedly uses the principle of the Raman Spectroscopy technique.

Having said that, Quantum is not the only one to try this idea. Several companies including Apple themselves have worked on it in the past. In fact, Apple’s patent(via) shows a concept similar to the spectroscopy technique. Coming back, the initial data sample provided by Quantum Operation reportedly has a lot of fluctuations compared to traditional flash glucose monitoring.

Considering this as just a prototype, we can let it slide. However, the company should work more on the accuracy if it plans to make this a working solution. Speaking of which, Quantum says that it plans to sell this wearable to healthcare professionals, insurers and build a big data platform to test the information of patients more.

This LG monitor flaunts a 31.5-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K). Hence, it supports individual dimming for all the 8 million pixels (OLED Pixel Dimming HDR technology). The South Korean tech giant claims the screen to cover 99% of DCI-P3 color gamut and Adobe RGB respectively.

As far as I/O is concerned, the LG 32EP950 features 2 x DisplayPort,  1 x USB Type-C, 3 x USB Type-A, and HDMI. That said, LG hasn’t revealed this product’s price and is also yet to publish the entire specifications. But what we know is that his monitor is targeted at professionals who edit images and videos.

Unlike the above monitor, this model is aimed at gamers. Although LG hasn’t revealed its complete specs as well as price, we can say that this one is similar to the Acer monitors that were announced last week.

Talking about the known features, the LG 27GP950 sports a 4K (3840 × 2160 pixels) IPS LCD panel. This screen can refresh at the maximum rate of 160Hz and supports VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) via HDMI 2.1. Hence, it can be paired with the latest-gen gaming consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X) to experience 4K 120Hz gaming.

Other features include 1ms (GtG) response time and VESA DisplayHDR 600.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021, TCL showcased a wide range of devices such as TCL 20 SE and TCL 20 SE smartphones, NXTPAPER and Tab 10s tablets, and Movaudio S600 TWS. The Chinese firm also unveiled two innovative products such as a 6.7-inch rollable AMOLED screen and a 17-inch printed OLED scrollable screen.

The 6.7-inch rollable AMOLED display can be seen in a small smartphone form factor. The screen can stretch from 6.7 inches to 7.8 inches just with a simple tap. This will allow the smartphone to turn into a tablet. The TCL device featuring the rollable AMOLED display will come equipped with an easily adaptable user interface.

The thickness of the device is under 10mm, which makes it slimmer than a foldable smartphone. The company claims that the curling and sliding radius of the flexible screen can be as small as R3mm along with the special mechanism design. Just with a swipe of a button, the display that is originally curled and hidden inside the case can be pulled out. According to TCL, the device offers a sliding life of up to 100,000 times.

For those who are unaware, Google TV, which was introduced last year along with the Chromecast with Google TV, comes with a revamped user interface that better integrates with the system and makes it easier for the users to find shows and movies from different apps and services.

Currently, the company has not revealed which series of Smart TVs will be getting the option of Google TV and if the previous Android TV models will be eligible for an update. We expect to know more about this from the company in the coming weeks or months.

It’s been a few months since Intel teased its new Rocket Lake S desktop CPUs and now the company has unveiled more details about the same. The company also claims that the new chipset is up to 19 percent faster than the predecessor.

The Intel Core i9-11900K, the flagship chipset, is set to be available in the first quarter of 2021 and has also provided the latest preview of this series as CES 2021. Apart from faster performance, the company is also promising better integrated graphics and better AI.

The top-end model in the lineup — Intel Core i9 features an eight-core, 16-thread chipset that supports a boosted clock speed of up to 5.3GHz. It also has support for DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz, a total of 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes, and also supports backward compatibility with the Intel 400 series chipsets.

Although these are the 11th generation chipset from Intel, the Rocket Lake-S lineup is still a 14nm chips and don’t use the company’s latest 10nm process. But, the new chips do come with Intel’s Cypress Cove cores, which brings improvements from the 10nm design to 14nm for faster speeds.

It’s noteworthy that the new Rocket Lake-S chips core count has dropped to eight compared to 10 cores in its predecessors. Despite that, the company promises that the overall performance will be better in the 11th generation models.

While the company has shared these details, more information still remains to be revealed. We expect the company to share more in the coming weeks, including the chipset models, their specs and features, as well as pricing and availability details.

Chinese tech giant Hisense today (Monday) kicked off its exhibition at CES 2021, the first-ever virtual Consumer Electronics Show, with the unveiling of a new era of TriChroma Laser TV, a state-of-the-art display technology.   This new technology will apply to multiple devices, aiming at reconnecting people, nature, and society in the new normal.

Dr. Liu Xianrong, the Chief Scientist of Hisense Laser Display explained in a keynote address that the technology is packaging and controlling separate lasers to get purer colors for display. A 128% improvement is achieved in the original RGB color. TriChroma also attains 20% brightness enhancement at the pixel-level with a 430-nit picture brightness, exceeding that of a regular TV.

With TriChroma laser technology, new TV product lines include various screen sizes, from 75-inch to 100-inch giant screen will eliminate ambient lighting. Since the color gamut coverage reaches up to 151% of the DCI-P3 film color standard, it is almost 50% beyond high-end cinema. Audiences can enjoy a strong sense of presence and a stunning in-cinema viewing experience at home.

The brand promised to release more Laser TV models this year, enriching consumers with more options than ever and projecting a promising market share in 2021.

The electronics manufacturer showed its ambition as a leading ecosystem screen builder with various interactive devices for different life scenarios. Three core technology were mentioned at CES to achieve the ecosystem – display technology, artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) technology, and a cloud service.

At CES 2021, Fossil has announced its first LTE-enabled Wear OS smartwatch in the form of Fossil Gen 5 LTE. But unfortunately, it only supports Verizon Wireless in the US. Also, this could be the same watch that was recently spotted on FCC and was thought to be Fossil Gen 6.

The new Fossil Gen 5 LTE does not bring any new features apart from LTE connectivity. It is powered by the same old Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.

It sports a 1.28-inch circular AMOLED display with a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels and 328 ppi. The watch comes with a rotating home button and two additional customizable push buttons. It includes all the necessary sensors such as accelerometer, altimeter, compass, gyroscope, off-body IR, and PPG heart rate sensor.

For connectivity, other than 4G, it also supports WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, and NFC. Other features include a loudspeaker, microphone, 5ATM water resistance, and magnetic charging.

As for software, the wearable runs Google Wear OS and is compatible with Android 6.0+ and iOS 12.0+ smartphones. Last but not least, it comes in two colors (Black, Pink) and is priced at $349 ($50 more than the regular model). It is already up for pre-order on Fossil’s official website and will start shipping around January 20.

This robot is a vacuum cleaner with LiDAR and 3D sensors for location tracking and object recognition. Powered by Intel AI, it uses a digital inverter motor for 30W suction power. It has a self-cleaning brush and automatically returns to the Clean Station, a disposal system with a bag to empty the dust, dirt, and whatever it has collected. This bag needs to be replaced only every two to three months.

The Samsung JetBot 90 AI+ can be controlled via the Samsung SmartThings app. Unlike the below-mentioned robots, this one will go on sale in the US in H1 2021.

As the name suggests, this robot is designed to be the user’s assistant and companion. It not only learns the user’s schedule, habits and helps them with reminders throughout the day but also has a display for attending video conferences and more.

SmartThings Cooking is a new standalone service available via the SmartThings app. It allows Samsung Family Hub series refrigerator owners to access an automatic meal planner powered by Whisk, a smart food platform acquired by Samsung NEXT in 2019.

This service not only recommends meals for the whole week but also automatically creates shopping lists with the ingredients needed. It even offers an option to connect to grocery retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Instacart, and Amazon Fresh for one-stop shopping.

A few years ago, there were speculations that flexible display which would feature on foldable phones were the next big thing waiting to happen in the industry. Since then, a number of flexible display-packing models have hit the ground running but the technology is still in its infancy. Display maker LG is working on several solutions to fast track the adoption of the technology.  

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2021, LG has teased the much-touted rollable smartphone. Rollable smartphones are gradually becoming a thing and although LG doesn’t have one yet, there have been several leaks surrounding an upcoming foldable from the tech giant.

LG basically used the rollable smartphone seemingly held by someone to project the “virtual” stage at its event with Jin-hong Kim who is the SVP and Head of Global Marketing at LG speaking at the event.

It is just what it is, a teaser, and nothing more. LG didn’t mention anything about the rollable smartphone at the event. That isn’t a surprise, though, as CES is not typically where LG announces its smartphones. LG usually keeps any smartphone announcement at CES to mid-range and entry-level models and not flagships. The company may unveil the rollable smartphone later this year, perhaps at MWC.

LG has a rollable OLED TV that is actually available to buy, so seeing a rollable smartphone is not a big surprise. It’s essentially the same thing but in a smaller package.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen a rollable smartphone though. Last year at CES, TCL showed off a rollable smartphone. However, it was a non-working prototype. It basically had a printed screen on it. So you could roll and unroll it, but couldn’t open Twitter and other apps on it. OPPO also showed off a rollable phone last year, which actually worked.

So rollable phones are likely to be the next big thing, in the world of smartphones. And it’s going to be impressive to see how this works.

Lenovo’s list of launches at the CES 2021 seems to be never-ending. The company has now refreshed the Yoga Slim 7i Pro with an OLED display at CES 2021.

Back in Q3 last year, Lenovo announced the LCD version of the Yoga Slim 7i Pro. It had the  11th-gen Tiger Lake CPUs that Intel unveiled back in September. This OLED version aims to amp up the contrast, and vibrant colors compared to the LCD variant. Lenovo says that the OLED(Organic LED) display is produced by Samsung Display.

Talking about the display, the Yoga Slim 7i Pro version gets a 14-inch OLED display. And, just like the LCD counterpart, this one also gets a 2.8K(2880 x 1800) resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. However, it has a Chrominance(Chroma) value amped up by a factor of 1.25. This reportedly means you get higher color frequency and deeper Blacks.

Other features of the OLED display includes a 667 times amplified contrast ratio, 100% DCI-P3, and 125% sRGB color gamut coverage. Additionally, the display also supports HDR, Dolby Vision. If this isn’t enough, Lenovo claims that you can work with this laptop in Direct Sunlight which will also reduce the blue-light emission by 70% compared to LCD.

Yoga Slim 7i Pro (OLED) Features

Talking about the design, the laptop measures 12.3x 8.7x 0.7(in) and weighs 1.45kg. It comes in a Single Slate Gray Color option. As for the I/O, you get 2xUSB Type-C with Intel’s Thunderbolt 4 support, 1xUSB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1×3.5mm audio/mic jack.

For Specs, you can configure it up to Intel’s 11 Gen i7 CPU which also comes with Intel’s Iris Xe built-in. If you want more, you can always add the external graphics up to NVIDIA GeForce MX450.

Other features include RAM up to 16GB, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 6 certified, IR Camera, Harman Speakers with Dolby Atmos, 61WHr battery, and Intel’s Evo Certification(verification by Q2 2021).

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro (OLED) Pricing, Availability

Lenovo hasn’t precisely shared a launch date or Price for the Yoga Slim 7i Pro OLED yet. However, it says the laptop will be available in AP(Asia-Pacific), Europe, Middle East, and Africa later in 2021.

If we recall, the LCD version debuted at around €799, and hence, we can expect something around the same for the OLED if not lesser. It’s worth noting that Lenovo says the OLED version isn’t available in North America.

Huami has taken to CES 2021 to announce its new smartwatches, the Amazfit GTS 2e and Amazfit GTR 2e. The two smartwatches were first announced in China last month and are now available for purchase, at least in the US, starting today.

The Amazfit GTS 2e has a 1.65-inch AMOLED screen with a 341 ppi pixel density while the Amazfit GTR 2e has a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a 326 ppi pixel density. Both have 2.5D scratch-resistant glass covering their screens, unlike their more expensive siblings that have a 3D glass covering. There is a plethora of watch faces users can choose from and there is even the option to use your own pictures as a watch face. Huami also says that the displays can be rotated 180° to cater to both left-handed and right-handed users.

The two watches support up to 90 sports modes with auto-detection for six of them. There is also support for Blood-oxygen level measurement, sleep quality monitoring, stress detection, and all-day heart rate monitoring. There is GPS, an offline assistant, and customizable notification alerts. Users can also lock the screen with a password to prevent anyone from accessing the watch. The two smartwatches have a 5 ATM waterproof rating.

The Amazfit GTS 2e’s battery life will last up to 14 days on a single charge (24 days in basic watch mode) while that of the Amazfit GTR 2e will last up to 24 days (45 days in basic watch mode).

The GTS 2e comes in Lilac Purple, Moss Green, and Obsidian Black while the GTR 2e can be purchased in Obsidian Black, Matcha Green, and Slate Grey. Both watches have the same $139.99 price tag and can be purchased on the Amazfit US store starting today. The watches will be unveiled in India next week and should also be available in Europe later.

Huami also announced that it will unveil an LTE version of the Amazfit GTR 2 The watch will arrive later this year as the Amazfit GTR 2 LTE with support for 4G, so users can make and receive calls on their watch without tethering to a phone.

LG Display has just showcased its idea of the future at CES 2021, with its upcoming technology being seen in various scenarios. One of the more interesting implications has the company’s new 55 inch transparent OLED display being housed in a bed frame.

According to TheVerge, the CES 2021 gave the South Korean tech giant a stage to unveil the various applications of its new breed of OLED displays. These new transparent or see through screens offer 40 percent transparency, which is much higher than past iterations of the technology that only offered 10 percent transparency. During the major tech event, LG imagined the screen being house at the foot of a bed, which rises out from the bed’s frame.

This would basically have the display function as a TV that can display information or other forms of media entertainment like videos or movies. This transparent TV frame will also arrive with built in speakers, meaning you wouldn’t require external speakers along with it. Furthermore, LG also claims that this frame can also be moved and placed anywhere in the users’ home, offerings a degree of flexibility regarding its placement and use.

As per Jong-sun Park, LG Display’s senior vice president and head of commercial business, “Transparent OLED is a technology that maximizes the advantages of OLED and can be used in various places in our daily lives, from stores, shopping malls, and architectural interiors to autonomous vehicles, subway trains, and aircraft. It will grow into a next-generation display that can change the existing display paradigm.”

Just a couple of months after being independent, Honor has announced its latest laptop in the market — Honor MagicBook Pro 2021. The launch comes after the company separated from Huawei, allowing it to source components from US-based firms.

Unlike the previous HonorBook which was powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor, the new models shift to Intel. The device comes powered by the Intel Core i5 10210U processor and NVIDIA GeForce MX350 GPU.

It’s noteworthy that the chipset used in this new laptop is a downgrade compared to the previous model. Also, it is using the 10th generation Intel chip even though the company has already launched the 11th generation models.

It features a 16.1-inch display that comes with a Full HD panel with 100% sRGB coverage. Internally, the device packs 16GB of RAM and 512GB NVMe for storage. There’s also a pop-up webcam for video calling. As for the ports, the device features three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and a single HDMI connection, along with the usual 3.5mm headphone jack.

The laptop also comes with a fingerprint sensor that doubles as the computer’s power button. As for the battery life, the Chinese company claims to offer over 11 and a half hours of uptime on a single charge, thanks to the 56Wh battery.

Honor is also including a 65W power adapter, which is promised to offer 50 percent charging in about 30 minutes. While the company has not yet revealed the launch of availability, it is confirmed to be priced at $1,000.

Lenovo has a new pair of AR smart glasses. However, the ThinkReality A3 is not for the average consumer but for enterprise users and it needs to be connected to a Motorola smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor or a PC to work.

The design of the ThinkReality A3 gives it a smaller form factor than the HoloLens 2 which is actually a Mixed Reality glasses but it is still bulkier than your regular glasses. Lenovo says that it “fits like sunglasses and can be enhanced with an industrial frame for a safer and more durable use”.

There is a Snapdragon XR1 processor inside the glasses which helps it able to present the user with up to 5 virtual displays. There is an 8MP RGB camera that records in 1080p for remote expert use cases and a pair of fish-eye cameras that provide room-scale tracking.

If you want to use it with a PC, then you have to get the ThinkReality A3 PC Edition that connects to your laptop or workstation so that you can use multiple virtual monitors. Lenovo says the smart glasses cater to professionals in industries such as finance, architecture, and engineering and those who may be working in a place where space is limited and privacy is important.

The Industrial Edition is the one that connects to Motorola phones powered by a Snapdragon 800 series processor and has DisplayPort support. Lenovo says in its press release that this version is “supported by the ThinkReality software platform that allows commercial customers to build, deploy, and manage mixed reality applications and content on a global scale and with global support”. This version of the glasses is designed for workers in factories, laboratories, and hospitality and the ThinkReality platform allows for remote assistance, guided workflows, and 3D visualizations.

Lenovo didn’t reveal the price tag of both versions of the ThikReality A3 but it says that will be available in select markets by the middle of the year. We expect it to be expensive but the fact that there are two variants that can be used interchangeably is disappointing.

Acer advertises it as the best option for new generation gaming consoles  – PS5 and Xbox Series X, as it supports 4K UHD 120Hz with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) via HDMI 2.1. 

It sports a 28-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K) and up to 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. The screen is TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe-certified and boasts 90% DCI-P3 color gamut, 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio as well as AMD FreeSync Premium.

Ahead of CES 2021, Acer has announced a new Chrome OS laptop called Acer Chromebook Spin 514. The highlight of this notebook includes metal build, U.S. MIL-STD 810H certification, and AMD Ryzen 3000 C-Series processors. It will be available in multiple variants, in addition to Enterprise Edition models.

According to Acer, the new Chromebook Spin 514 models are powered by AMD Ryzen 7 3700C and Ryzen 5 3500C quad-core processors with respective built-in AMD Radeon Vega Graphics. It can be bought in up to 16GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD storage version.

Lenovo is currently the leading PC maker globally and this isn’t unconnected with its rich product offering and robust pricing. The company has now announced the Lenovo LAVIE MINI pocket-sized convertible PC.

The convertible PC presents with an ultra-mobile form-factor. It sports an 8-inch WUXGA touch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels.  The PC is powered by up to 11th Gen Intel Core i7 mobile processor with Intel Iris Xe graphics, up to 256GB SSD, and 16GB LPDDR4 of RAM. The PC comes in Crystal White for an airy translucent look and weighs just 579 grams. The laptop also presents with features such as Modern Standby and IR camera with Windows Hello for zero-touch login.

The Lenovo LAVIE MINI pocket-sized convertible PC also comes with circular-shaped numeric and symbol keys which are the same size as the alphabet keys. The keyboard itself is a backlit one. It also comes with a breathing light which lights up the logo on the LCD cover while the PC remains turned on.

Another stand-out feature of the LAVIE MINI is that it features an optional Gaming Controller that allows users to play high-quality PC games such as battle royale and car racing games. The laptop also packs an optional HDMI-connected dock which allows you to connect the PC to your big television screen.

Apart from an HDMI connection, the Dock provides other input/output extensions too including several USB Type-C and -A ports. The dock can also charge the PC’s battery for a quick power boost.

Lenovo is yet to reveal any details about the pricing and availability of the LAVIE MINI pocket-sized convertible PC.

One of the world’s leading display maker LG Display has teamed up with Eyesafe, a company which prides itself as a leader in low blue light solutions for consumer electronics to launch a new TV display. The display which is said to be the world’s first Eyesafe Certified television display will be on display at  CES 2021. The display will be featured on a 65-inch OLED television that would break cover at CES.

The display panel is said to have been designed to conform to Eyesafe standard for low emissions of blue light and optimal color performance. Indeed, the display received a third-party certification from Germany’s TUV Rheinland, confirming that it is safe for the eyes. LG Display projects that the new Eyesafe panel will be used on TVs shipping this year 2021.

LG further stated that the new panel is coming at a time when there are a good number of data from around the globe which shows that the time consumers spend in front of a screen – televisions, smartphones, laptops, and others,  is on a rapid rise globally. The COVID 19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown was instrumental in the increase.

In the United States, a Nielsen report indicates the average user’s screen-time exceeds 13 hours a day. The Eyesafe Display Standard is the world’s leading set of health-based requirements for the consumer electronics industry. The standard was developed with assistance from over 250 top ophthalmologists, optometrists, and engineers after conducting and analyzing clinical health and safety research on the impact of exposure to high-energy blue light.

LG hasn’t disclosed how much the display would cost. It is also unclear if the technology deployed on the panel will have any effect on the display performance but we doubt it will. LG is known for its quality and so, the technology will likely be one that won’t lead to a compromise on the picture quality.

Samsung has announced its Neo QLED, micro-LED, and lifestyle TV display panels at the virtual CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2021. The Neo QLED is designed for upcoming 8K and 4K TVs from the brand. The 88-inch, 99-inch, and 110-inch MicroLED panels are designed for TVs that will be aimed towards general consumers.

The Neo QLED panel is based on mini-LED backlighting technology that features smaller LEDs that can focus light on a smaller area. The panel is equipped with up to 40 times smaller LEDs than conventional LEDs with full-array back-lighting. Adding more LEDs in a smaller area makes it possible for the display panel to offer precise backlighting control, improved HDR, higher contrast, and better brightness.

The Neo QLED panel is equipped with the Neo Quantum Processor (image processor) for AI upscaling with 16 neural networks to upscale image quality to the native resolution of the panel. The Neo QLED panel is built for Samsung’s QN900A 8K and QN90A 4K models. The new TVs featuring Neo QLED panels will offer features like super-slim bezels, 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios, a new audio system with object tracking and spatial optimization, and more.

TVs with MicroLED panels have only been aimed towards business since they are expensive. In 2021, the South Korean company will launch standard TVs with MicroLED panels for consumers.

MicroLED panels have self-emitting LEDs for each pixel and there is no backlight required. It is better than an OLED panel as it offers accurate black levels and high brightness. The Multi View feature will allow users to view content from four different sources at the same time on the forthcoming MicroLED TVs.

The 2021 Frame lifestyle range of TVs come with a reduced thickness of 24.9mm. The company is offering swappable bezels for 2021 Frames in five colors and two styles. Customers who subscribe to ArtStore can configure The Frame to display artwork when idle. Like before, it produces the same QLED 4K HDR image. In its quest to reduce carbon footprint, Samsung also announced a solar-powered remote control that can be charged with indoor/outdoor light sources or USB.

Over the past few weeks, LG Display has showcased a number of innovative displays that are expected to be officially unveiled at CES 2021. About a week ago, they revealed their QNED Mini LED TVs. The company also recently announced that it would be showcasing its transparent OLED panels at the upcoming event. In the same light, the Korean tech giant has now announced a 48-inch Bendable Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) TV that is optimized for gaming. The innovative display will equally be showcased to the public at CES 2021.

The new LG Bendable Cinematic Sound OLED (CSO) TV utilises an extremely thin OLED panel, something LG is known for. The display features a 48-inch screen and can unfold to curvature of 1,000R for immersion when gaming. The display can also be straightened out to a flat display when watching regular TV.

The display is specifically designed for gaming and has a response time of 0.1 milliseconds thanks to its OLED technology. It also features a wide variable refresh rate range of 40Hz to a peak refresh rate of 120Hz. Another impressive technology built-in is how the display itself produces sound with an ultra-slim film exciter that measures just 0.6mm thick.

Commenting on the announcement, Chang-ho Oh, Executive Vice President & Head of the TV Business Unit at LG Display said:

“LG Display’s 48-inch Bendable CSO display is optimized for gaming as it maximizes the use of advanced technology that produces another level in terms of providing an immersive experience. In other words, it offers the very best gaming environment to gamers”.

LG Display had recently announced that it would be showcasing its transparent OLED panels at the upcoming event, CES 2021. These new displays are a new breed of OLED panels, with the company also unveiling its applications in various commercial spheres.

According to the display maker, the new OLED panels have a transparency rate of 40 percent. This is way higher than the transparency rate of 10 percent, which was seen on LCD (liquid crystal displays) panels, as per TheElec report. The South Korean tech giant stated that it would showcase the new display technology on three exhibition zones, revealing the implications of the panels in different scenarios. This included a smart home product, use in subway trains windows, and even restaurants. The company has previously shown an interest in its wide variety of applications, especially the transport and automobile industry.

In the smart home zone, the transparent OLED display can be seen combined with the bed and will display useful information to users like weather updates, or entertainment with TV programs and movies. The frame is housed in the bed’s frame itself and can also be separated from the bed and placed anywhere else in the house. In the metro zone, the LG Display’s transparent OLED panels replace the traditional glass panels on the train.

These panels will then be able to display information to users, like the upcoming stops or journey duration while also offering a view of the outside world. The third and final area is the restaurant zone. In this zone, the transparent panels are used as the petition between the customers and the cooks, allowing people a view of the menu while also the chefs that are preparing their food. LG Display stated that these online exhibitions will be open and available for everyone.

LG Display has been working on transparent OLED panels for a while now and is aiming on making the technology more feasible for consumers as well. Now, the company unveiled a possible application of the transparent displays with its “Smart Bed” concept, which would use a 55 inch transparent screen that would function as a TV that can turn invisible when not in use.

During the South Korean tech giant’s CES 2021 show, it introduced the “Smart Bed” concept.” This concept had a transparent OLED display be housed on the foot of the bed, or even at other positions at one’s home. One would simply have to press a button to have the transparent panel rise from the base, allowing for seamless entertainment. This invisible TV would also use Cinematic Soun to output audio without requiring separate external speakers.

Furthermore, LG also gave other possible applications of the 55 inch panel, with the example of the transparent OLED screen being used in restaurants. This would allow the customers to see their meals being prepared by the chef. Similarly, subway trains could also sport these screens, offering real time information like route map and location along with the view of the outside, as per an AndroidAuthority report.

As per the company, its 55 inch transparent OLED panel would thrive on a high 40 percent transparency level compared to the 10 percent found in LCD screens. It also expects such transparent displays to replace windows in smart homes or even smart driving cars sometime in the future as well. LG stated that it is not sure when transparent display would hit the consumer market or store shelves, but there has been “growing demand” from different industries.

LG Electronics is set to showcase new products during the CES 2021 event. One of these new lineups includes the latest refrigerators with the company’s InstaView technology.

For those unaware, InstaView refrigerators from the South Korean tech giant are distinguished by the large glass panel on the door of the right half. This area can be knocked on to show or check on the foods inside and their quantity as well. In other words, the simple inclusion of this technology enables the reduction of the number of times the user has to open and close the door.

This would also prevent the loss of cold air, as per TheElec report. Furthermore, these new refrigerators will also have the Uvnanoa feature, which utilizes ultraviolet LED light to disinfect germs from the dispenser tap. In other words, the new lineup of InstaView fridges sports an additional hygiene feature to keep the users safe. Another interesting aspect includes the inclusion of voice recognition.

This offers the users access to various voice enabled commands like “open the refrigerator door,” which has the fridge automatically open its doors without any input from the user. Next year’s edition of CES will be a virtual event as the world is still battling with the coronavirus pandemic. The multi-day event will begin on January 11 and run until January 14. Samsung is among the manufacturers that will unveil new products and it has been reported that the focus will be on new TVs.

Samsung’s own presentation is scheduled for January 12 and it will be held between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM. The electronics giant is expected to announce new 8K OLED TVs and related devices. However, SamMobile reports that Samsung will not announce Quantum Dot OLED TVs as it has no plans to do so next year even though its display arm is the one making the panels.

We expect Samsung will also announce other exciting products aside from TVs. This year’s CES saw the Korean company announce a bunch of interesting products such as Ballie, a cute ball-like companion robot that can control smart appliances and provide personalized care; Samsung NEON which is a virtual avatar that can be customized to perform a variety of functions; and the Galaxy Chromebook.

We have already heard that the Galaxy Chromebook2 is in development, so there is a chance it will be announced at CES 2021. However, what we don’t expect to see is a smartphone, or specifically, the Galaxy S21 series. There are reports that the Galaxy S21 series will launch in mid-January but seeing as that is around the same time CES will be rounding off, it seems unlikely.

CES will be going fully digital next year, no thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. While that is definitely bad news for those who have made it a ritual to attend the tech show, the switch to an online-only platform will open it up to a larger audience.

Today, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) which owns and produces CES announced new dates for next year’s edition. CES 2021 will now hold between Monday, January 11, and Thursday, January 14. The show was originally scheduled to hold between Wednesday, January 6 and Saturday, January 9, 2021.

The first day will be exclusive media-only access while January 12 – January 13 will be open to all registered attendees. The last day will be for conference programming. Even with the show going digital, there should still be lots of announcements from several manufacturers.

The press statement also revealed that the kick-off keynote address will be delivered by the Chairman of Verizon Hans Vestberg. His address will discuss 5G as the framework of the 21st century and how it will affect major industries.

We won’t rule out the possibility of next year’s edition of Mobile World Congress (MWC) going fully digital. This year’s edition had to be canceled when manufacturers began pulling out of the show. To prevent a repeat, the organizers may settle for an online-only experience too.

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) organisers of the popular Consumer Electronics Show (CES) which usually holds in January in Las Vegas has announced that CES 2021 will be held in-person in January next year. The group says it intends to make the platform available to exhibitors to be able to get across to consumers. This time around, the event will see more live streaming of events and a broader safety guideline will be adopted.

CES 2020 was held in January this year just at the nick of time before the COVID-19 pandemic became a global health crisis. The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 wasn’t that lucky as it was cancelled before it could hold in February 2020 before the event could hold.

Last year’s CES event recorded an estimated 175,000 attendees. Although we don’t expect that much persons to attend next year;’s event, it remains to be seen if it would be possible to maintain a safe environment in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic. CTA says it intends to “regularly clean and sanitize spaces” and offer “sanitization stations.” It also plans to widen aisles and seats to increase distancing, limit “touchpoints” by using tech like mobile payments and provide on-site health services. The organisation says it will also look into doing temperature scans and that it plans to issue “best practices,” like wearing of face mask.

As of this moment, it is difficult to say if it will be possible to hold a large-scale conference in January. he pandemic is still raging and a vaccine isn’t expected until next year. Even if CTA gets the green light from health authorities to hold the been, the outfit will still have to deal with a lack of enthusiasm from attendees who may not want to attend due to safety concerns.
