The Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+ were unveiled today without any fanfare. Both phones share a number of key features but also have some major differences.

Galaxy J6+

The Galaxy J6+ has a 6.0” HD+ screen with a 720 x 1480 resolution. It is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. Samsung didn’t mention the exact chipset but adds that it may differ with respect to markets.

Depending on the model sold in your country, the Galaxy J6+ will have 3GB or 4GB of RAM with 32GB or 64GB of storage. On the back are dual cameras – the primary camera is a 13MP f/1.9 sensor while the secondary camera is a 5MP f/2.2 sensor. An 8MP f/1.9 sensor is above the display for selfies and video calls.

[envira-gallery id=”212494″]

The Galaxy J6+ is the first Samsung phone with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. From the images provided, the fingerprint scanner should be easy to reach. The power button, on the other hand, might be a bit difficult since it is closer to the top. The volume buttons are on the left along with the SIM tray.

The phone has a MicroUSB port, Bluetooth 4.2, and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for connectivity. NFC is market dependent. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo and packs a 3,300mAh battery. It is available in black, silver, and red.

Galaxy J4+

The Galaxy J4+ has the same display and resolution as the Galaxy J6+. It also has the same processor but comes in 2GB RAM + 16GB and 3GB RAM + 32GB variants.

[envira-gallery id=”212495″]

The J4+ has a single camera on its rear – a 13MP f/1.9 sensor while a 5MP f/2.2 sensor is in front. It has Bluetooth 4.2 and single band Wi-Fi. NFC availability is dependent on country. It also has a 3300mAh battery and runs Android 8.1 Oreo. Available colors are black, gold, and red.

The low-budget Galaxy J4 smartphone that had appeared on Geekbench could be one of the upcoming Galaxy J series smartphones. The arrival of the Galaxy J4 seems to be drawing near as it has received certification from Taiwan’s NCC regulatory body.

The images of the Galaxy J4 (2018) that have surfaced through its NCC listing has revealed that it won’t be featuring an Infinity Display as it seems to be housing a display with a conventional aspect ratio of 16:9. Below the display of the phone is a fingerprint sensor enabled home button. The rear panel has a camera module that includes a single sensor and an LED flash. The left edge of the phone has volume up and down buttons and the power key on the right. The Galaxy J4 (2018) seems to be wearing a polycarbonate body.

The Geekbench listing of the smartphone has revealed that it is fueled by the modest Exynos 7570 SoC that includes a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor. Samsung has used the same SoC to power other low-budget phones like Galaxy J3 (2017) and Galaxy Xcover 4. It will come preinstalled with Android 8.0 Oreo. Nothing much is known on the other specs of the phone.

A mysterious Samsung phone with model number SM-J400F has appeared on Geekbench benchmarking platform. It is speculated that this model number belongs to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy J4.

The Geekbench listing has revealed that the SM-J400F is running on Android 8.0 Oreo and it has 2 GB of RAM. The device is powered by Exynos 7570. It is the very same SoC that lies under the hood of other budget-friendly phones such as Galaxy J3 (2017) and Galaxy Xcover 4.

In the single-core test, the Galaxy J4 has managed to reach a score of 623 whereas it has scored 1815 in multi-core test. These benchmarking scores suggest it will be an entry-level phone that may offer specs that are slightly better than Galaxy J3 (2017).

The Android 8.0 Oreo that will be arriving preinstalled on the phone is expected to be overlaid with Samsung Experience UI. As of this writing, there is no information available on its other specs.

Just as Samsung had released the Galaxy S7 Active in 2016 and Galaxy S8 Active in 2017, it appears that the company may launch the S9 Active phone this year. As it can be seen in the above list, there are some unknown devices. Samsung is rumored to debut a new line of smartphones that will be exclusively made available online. Hence, one of the unidentified devices could be a smartphone from the new series.

Previous reports have revealed that the “crown” codename belongs to the upcoming Galaxy Note 9. The same codename has been also found listed in the leaked Android 8.0 Oreo beta build for Note 8. Samsung China was rumored to debut Galaxy C10 and Galaxy C10 Plus smartphones in the previous year. The C10 series may debut this year with Snapdragon 660 chipset inside. The list contains multiple Galaxy J series phones, but Galaxy J5 (2018) seems to be missing. The unidentified smartphones could include the heavily rumored foldable smartphone from the company.
