After launching smartphones like Honor 7X, Honor 7A and Honor 7C in the Honor 7 series, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has introduced Honor 7 (2018) smartphone. It is a low-end smartphone that is packed with modest specs. The handset comes with a very affordable price tag of 599 Yuan (~$93).

Honor Play 7 Specifications and Features

The Honor Play 7 that measures 146.5 x 70.9 x 8.3mm and weighs 142 grams sports a minimalist full screen design. Its three color variants include black, blue and gold.

It features a 5.45-inch IPS LCD display that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. The screen produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The Honor Play 7 features an eye protection mode that filters the blue light emitted by the screen.

The MediaTek MT6739 chipset that includes 1.5 GHz quad-core processor is present under the hood of the phone. The handset comes in only one variant that includes 2 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 16 GB. The handset features a dedicated slot for adding a microSD card. It is preinstalled with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo and the latest edition of EMUI which brings along some features like F2FS file system, three-finger screenshot functionality and double-tap to wake up screen. It comes with a smart feature that allows the phone to automatically adjust the volume of the phone according to the surroundings of the user.

For photography, the Honor Play 7 provides its user with a rear camera of 13-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture. The camera module looks like a dual camera setup, but it only features a camera sitting besides its dual-tone LED flash. It is equipped with features like beauty mode, PDAF and full HD video shooting.

The frontside of the Honor Play 7 is fitted with 5-megapixel selfie camera that comes with features like beauty mode, soft-light LED flash with 0 to 6 brightness level and support for automatic and manual adjustment mode.

The connectivity features available on the Honor Play 7 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. The Honor 7 receives power from 3,020mAh battery that comes with intelligent power-saving feature offers a standby time of 9 days. It supports 5V/1A charging.

Back in December, the company invited users to sign for testing out the beta release. Now, two months later, you would be getting the Android 6 update before the end of February. This is definitely good news since there are still many flagships yet to be upgraded to the new OS.

As for those who are already participating in the beta program, Honor reveals that the final version should be released for them anytime soon via OTA update. As always, Honor says that the update will be rolling out in stages. So, you might have to wait for some time for the update to hit your smartphone. Nevertheless, in the next few days, you are sure to get the update, so keep checking your Honor 7 smartphone for an update notification.

Huawei has also confirmed Marshmallow update for it’s recently showcased (at MWC) Honor 5X mid-ranger. However, we still don’t know when users can expect to receive an official Android 6 update for the device.

According to Chinese media, Honor 7 will come in multiple versions and one of the biggest difference between these models will be the body and the material used. Earlier rumors indicated that the difference could be limited to the specs inside. However, it looks like the low end and high end versions will differ in the design too.

The low end version is said to come with round corners and a metal frame, rather than an all metal body. On the other hand, the high end version will reportedly come in an all metal body.

Also, it is said that the phone will be powered by the latest Kirin processor, most likely to be the Kirin 940 chipset. The performance is expected to be better than the Kirin 930 which uses eight Cortex A53e cores. Kirin 940 will be built on a 20nm process with possible configuration of quad Cortex A53 + Two Cortex A72 cores or quad A53 + two A57 cores. The cores will be clocked at 1.9Ghz to avoid overheating.

Apart from the body and design, there are differences in the specs as well. The low end version is said to come with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage while the high end version will come with 4GB and 128GB storage. There will be 16MP OIS camera, 5.2-inch 1080p display and a 3280mAh battery on both the models. Other features include full network connectivity and fingerprint recognition.

While we are still not clear about the pricing of the handset, expect the base model to start at around 1999 Yuan.

From the teasers that we have been seeing in the past few days, it looks like Huawei is all set to unveil a beast of a device this month end. The company’s honor 7 flagship is turning out to be quite a powerful device, with an octa-core chip, fingerprint sensor and a lot more to offer.

Now, the latest teaser from the company officially confirms the presence of fast charging tech on the device. This isn’t surprising given that all major manufacturers have incorporated this tech on their devices. In fact, earlier today, a new leak revealed that the Meizu MX5 will also come with fast charge. Interestingly, the Meizu flagship is expected to debut the same day as Honor 7 i.e. June 30.

Thanks to the numerous teasers, we also know that the flagship will come with a fingerprint sensor as well as a special function key on the side. The phone will have sapphire glass, probably to protect the camera as well as high-end specs.
Pricing is still not confirmed but it is said that the lowest version will start at 1999 Yuan. Other versions are expected to retail at a much higher figure.

Huawei is going to all lengths to generate buzz in the market about its upcoming Honor 7 flagship. The company already confirmed the launch of the device on June 30, via a teaser poster. The same image even confirmed the presence of a fingerprint sensor on the device.

Now, Huawei has just uploaded a teaser video of the Honor 7 which gives us a glimpse of the device. Of course, you can’t clearly see the handset, but we can still figure out a couple of things about the phone from the video.

First of all, it looks like the Huawei Honor 7 will feature an all metal design, just like we saw on TENAA. In fact, it looks like the phone will take some design pointers from its elder brother, the Huawei P8 which was launched back in April. The overall metal body looks sleek and well built. Even the display seems to come close to the sides.

Overall, from this video, it looks like the phone will sport the same design that we saw on the images from TENAA. As for the specs, it is said that the phone will feature Kirin 935 chip octa-core 64-bit with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (high-end version) or 3GB RAM and 16GB storage (standard version). The camera will be of 13MP with OIS and there will be a 5-inch full HD panel up front. The battery is expected to be of 3280mAh capacity.

It looks like we will see some more teasers from the company until the launch of the device on June 30.

Huawei has always announced major events officially via its Weibo account. Earlier today, the company revealed a new poster which confirms that the Honor 7 flagship is coming on June 30.

The picture shows the number seven written inside a fingerprint. Below, this we see the date, 30th June, which means that the Honor 7 is coming exactly 15 days later. The image of the fingerprint also confirms the recent leaks which said that the phone will feature a rear placed fingerprint recognition.

The company is yet to confirm other features of the device, but it is said that the phone will be powered by the new Kirin 935 octa-core 64-bit chipset. There will be a 13MP camera at the back with OIS and a large 3280mAh battery. As for the display, expect a 5-inch full HD panel up front.

Rumors indicate that there will be two different versions of the device, namely the standard version and the top-end version. The standard version will come with 3GB RAM and 16GB of storage while the top-end version will feature 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. This move won’t be surprising given that recently, the company has started a tradition of offering two different versions of a flagship model.

Last month, there were rumors that Huawei was developing its own software for its smartphones. Now, a leaked screenshot reveals the new Kirin OS 1.0 on a device, which the source claims is the new Honor 7 flagship. Yes, if the source is to be believed, then we will probably see this new OS as soon as this month!

Honor 7 will be the company’s first smartphone to run on its own OS. This doesn’t come as a surprising news given the fact that all major manufacturers are now trying to develop their own UI for better user experience. We have already seen Lenovo unveil a new brand called ZUK which will focus on developing new UI (software) for the company. 

It is said that Huawei has been developing this new mobile operating system (Kirin OS) for the past three years in its own lab. So, it will be interesting to see how the OS performs as compared to competitors like CyanogenMod and OxygenOS.

However, the company has not revealed anything about a new home grown OS, at least till now. So, take this leak with a pinch of salt. Huawei has been releasing a number of interesting handsets in the past few months. The notable ones include the Huawei P8 and P8 Max along with the Honor 4C. Now, its almost time of the next generation model of the Honor 6 handset and it looks like the new Honor 7 has just hit TENAA.

A Huawei device with the model name PLK-AL10 hit the Chinese Network Certification Agency, TENAA late last month. From the images that’s listed on the website, it looks like the earlier leaked pictures were bang on target.

The images reveal a fingerprint sensor at the back of the device, just below the camera unit. And it looks exactly like the leaked images with an all metal body that we saw a few weeks back. So, its quite likely that this is the Honor 7 model which will meet us before the end of this month.

While TENAA fails to reveal much about the listed device, it confirms the fingerprint sensor as well as the 4G LTE network connectivity. The supported network bands by this PLK-AL10 model are as follows: TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA2000, CDMA 1X and GSM.

Thanks to an earlier leak, we have an idea about the specifications of the Honor 7. It is said that the phone will feature the company’s Kirin 935 chipset along with two RAM options. Actually, there will be two models, one standard model and the other high-end edition. The standard model will feature 3GB RAM and 16GB storage while the high-end model will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There will be a 13MP camera at the back and a 3280mAh battery. The screen size is expected to be the same as the Honor 6, i..e 5-inch with full HD 1080p resolution.

The company has confirmed an announcement on June 8, which is less than a week away. It could be related to Honor 7, so stay tuned. As for the pricing, expect the Honor 7 to retail at a starting price of 1999 Yuan which comes to around $322.

Huawei was said to release its update to the Honor series this month. And looks like the rumors were bang on target as earlier today, Huawei unveiled a brand new teaser for the launch of a new Honor product on June 8. Given that its almost a year since we saw the Huawei Honor 6 smartphone, its more than likely that we will see the successor of the popular Honor 6, namely, the Honor 7 on that day.

The teaser comes with a famous quote from Albert Einstein, “Imagination is Everything”. Unfortunately, apart from the blue spiral shaped image and the above mentioned tagline, the company has not yet revealed anything about the features of the device.

However, like always, we have already seen possible specs and images of the device, thanks to the numerous leaks online. Recent leaks have revealed that Honor 7 will feature a 5-inch full HD display with Kirin 935 processor. There will be two different versions of the device, one high-end and the other low-end.

Both feature Kirin 935 chipset but will differ in terms of memory capacity. The high-end version comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the low-end model features 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. Other possible specs include a 3280mAh battery, 13MP camera with OIS, and Android 5.1 Lollipop version. There could be fingerprint sensor too, but at the moment, we are not sure of that.

As for the built, the Honor 7 is expected to come with a metal body similar to the Mate 7 design. This will be a deviation from the traditional plastic design of the Honor series flagships.

After the launch of the Huawei P8, the company is now all set to update its Honor series. While we have seen very little details about the Honor series devices till now, today, we have received a few more info about the specs and the launch period of the said devices.

First of all, it is said that there will be two different variants of the device, a high end Honor 7 and a low end version. Naturally, the high end variant will have slightly better specs the regular variant. Both the phones are expected to come with the Kirin 935 chipset, but for memory the high end variant will get 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the low end version will have 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. Unfortunately, we are still not sure if the phone will come with a fingerprint sensor.

Other specs are more or less the same, so it will feature 5-inch 1080p display, 13MP camera with OIS, integrated sound chamber, 3280mAh battery and Android 5.0 lollipop.
The reason company decided to use the existing Kirin 935 chipset is because the next generation Kirin 950 will enter mass production only by the end of September. So expect to see Kirin 950 on Honor 7 Plus later in the year.

As for these two Honor 7 variants, the company should release these devices sometime in July for 1999 Yuan and 2699 Yuan.
