Lenovo Unveils New ThinkPad T14p Laptop

Lenovo has unveiled the new ThinkPad T14p laptop, an upgrade to the popular T series. The ThinkPad T14p is available in a variety of configurations, starting at 6799 yuan for the i5 integrated graphics version, 7999 yuan for the i9 integrated graphics version, and starting at 9499 yuan for the i7 with RTX 3050 version.

The new ThinkPad T14p is powered by the 13th generation Core H series processors, ranging from the i5-13500H to the i9-13900H. Graphics options include integrated graphics and the RTX 3050 4GB. The laptop features a dual fan cooling system and can deliver up to 60W of total system performance. It is equipped with LPDDR5-5200 memory with an option up to 32GB, and a 1TB SSD, with support for dual slots.

The ThinkPad T14p has a 14-inch 2.2k resolution screen with 100% sRGB color gamut and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The laptop weighs as low as 1.47 kg and is 17.9 mm thin. It comes equipped with an FHD camera and a 57Wh battery. The laptop also includes a variety of ports, including Thunderbolt 4, full-function USB-C, HDMI 2.0, USB-A, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Chinese-American multinational technology corporation, Lenovo, had earlier revealed its premium business laptop line, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10 and ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 equipped with Intel’s latest 12th Gen Alder Lake Mobile CPUs back in January this year at the CES 2022 roadshow held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.

4 months after the announcement, the Intel 12th Gen ThinkPad X1 series is finally available for sale in several popular markets across the globe, which include the US, UK, Australia, Europe and Southeast Asia. 

In the US, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10 is now officially available at USD 2879 for the base model, while the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7 is sold starting at USD 3579. 

Do note that this is the recommended retail price for the laptops as Lenovo ThinkPad relatively go on sale quite often.

For the Europe and Southeast Asia release, the 12th Gen Intel ThinkPad X1 series is currently only released in several key markets such as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. The 12th Gen Intel ThinkPad X1 series officially starts at 1949 Euros(excl. VAT) / CHF 1859 (incl. VAT) / SGD 3259 / THB 72,390 / RM 7979 in each respective country.

So competing in the premium business ultrabook category, what features does the Intel 12th Gen ThinkPad X1 series pack to justify its price tag?

ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 10

The X1 Carbon has always been one of Lenovo’s best engineered business laptops with its svelte, durable chassis that is certified MIL-STD 810H standard durability compliant. This means the laptop is able to withstand extreme temperature, extreme dust, extreme humidity, pressure and more. 

The new generation of the X1 Carbon is configurable up to Intel’s latest 12th Gen Core i7 P-series or U-Series mobile processors which claims to bring 1.5x better power efficiency than the previous generation. Accompanying the CPU is up to 32GB LPDDR5 5200Mhz dual-channel RAM and Up to 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage, for the fastest performance for day-to-day tasks.

ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga possesses many identical specs to the X1 Carbon. The only major differentiator here is that it is a “Yoga” laptop. The X1 Yoga is a 2-in-1 business convertible laptop that allows the users to switch from laptop to tablet to tent mode in under a minute. Whether you want to sketch or sign a document on the go, the X1 Yoga has an included Lenovo stylus that can always accommodate your workflow.

Intel announced its 12th Gen Alder Lake Mobile Processors back in January during CES 2022, and this year, Intel has the confidence to compete with AMD in the laptop chip market with its 45W H-series for gaming laptops, 28W P-series for premium thin and light ultrabooks, and 15W U-series for the user who needs the power to go a full day on a single charge.

As of current, we are only seeing the H-series processors in the market in devices such as the Lenovo Legion 5i and Legion 5i Pro 2022 refresh and the Asus Tianxuan 3 gaming laptop available in China. However, a new benchmark in Geekbench 5 indicates that Lenovo is currently testing out the Alder Lake 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile processors on its upcoming premium thin and light ultrabook.

The Geekbench 5 listing shows that the Lenovo device model is codenamed “LENOVO 4810RD0100” and it is sporting an Intel Core i7-1280P Alder Lake processor under the hood. Equipped with 32GB of LPDDR5 2593MHz of RAM, the device has scored 1784 in single-core tests, and 9790 in multi-core tests. These results are astonishing, as this 12th Gen Alder Lake 28W Core i7 P-series mobile processor managed to exceed the scores of last year’s core i9-11980HK found in gaming laptops.

As for the details of the Intel Core i7-1280P chip, it has a total of 14 cores and 20 threads. 6 of those cores are P-cores(Performance Cores) for heavy workloads and 8 E-cores(Efficiency Cores) for lighter tasks. Each P-core has a base clock of 1.8GHz and a turbo frequency of 4.8GHz, whereas each E-core has a base clock of 1.3GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.6GHz.

The processor also has 24MB of L3 cache, 96EUs of Intel Iris XE Graphics. It runs on 28W of base power and its maxes out at 64W on turbo. 

Intel has finally brought out its A-Game (Alder Lake) to laptops this year and we are excited to see how collaborations with its laptop manufacturing partners, Lenovo, Dell and Asus will turn out for users in 2022.

Lenovo has just launched a bunch of new products. These include a new lineup of ThinkPad laptops that are aimed for productivity and creative professionals, along with a new mobile monitor and its Go series of accessories for people working remotely.

ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4

The new ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 from the known Chinese PC maker has just been launched, with powerful specifications for “digital creatives and prosumers.” In other words, it sports top notch specs and features that are designed for intensive professional workloads. On the front, the laptop features a 16 inch display that has a 16:10 aspect ration and is surrounded by a four sided narrow bezel design. This display is offered up to 4K resolution with 600 nits of brightness HDR400 and low blue light filter as well.

Under the hood, Lenovo is offering the laptop with up to an Intel Core i9 H series vPro processor with Windows 10 Pro pre installed. For memory, 64GB of 3200MHz RAM paired with up to 2TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD is offered. Talking about the graphics, there are multiple configurations one can choose from, including an Intel Iris X integrated graphics, or an NVIDIA RTX GeForce 3050Ti, RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and even an RTX 3080 mobile GPU. For audio, the laptop supports Dolby Atmos Speaker System and also offers a FHD or FHD Infrared Hybrid webcam on the front, while the laptop is powered by a 90Whr battery.

ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 2 & ThinkPad L13 Gen 2

Along with the high end X1 Extreme Gen 4, Lenovo also released the new ThinkPad L13 Gen 2 and ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 2. Talking about the ThinkPad Yoga first, it is the company’s latest Windows 10 convertible laptop that is powered by the new AMD Ryzen mobile processors. Notably, both the ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 2 and the ThinkPad L13 Gen 2 features an AMD Ryzen 5000 PRO series processors.

For memory, both laptops offers up to 16GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM and up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage. Similarly, the laptops also feature integrated AMD Radeon Graphics. On the front, the laptops sport a similar 13.3 inch display that has a FHD resolution, 300 nits of brightness and narrow bezels. While the Yoga variant supports Touch from the base model, the ThinkPad L13 Gen 2 has an option for the touch support. Both laptops are also powered by a 46Whr battery pack.

Pricing and Availability

The laptops that have just been launched will be available for purchase sometime in August of this year. Lenovo also shared the pricing of these laptops, which includes:

• ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 –  2099 Euros (roughly 2,500 US Dollars)
• ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 2 (AMD) – 749 Euros (roughly 894 US Dollars)

Ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, Lenovo has announced a slew of new devices. The newly updated laptop lineup from Lenovo includes ThinkPad X, T, and L Series, along with a new docking station and monitors. All the new laptop models come powered by Intel‘s 8th-generation processors.

The new ThinkPad X series consists of X280 and X380 Yoga. The Lenovo ThinkPad X380 Yoga convertible comes with a 13.3-inch Full HD touchscreen display and a 360-degree hinge. It is powered by up to Core i7 processor with vPro tech, 16GB RAM and up to 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD storage. It has a battery life of up to 13.6 hours, claims that company. The device also supports rapid-charge which can top up the battery to around 80% in an hour.

On the other hand, the ThinkPad X280 has almost similar core specifications as the X380 Yoga. However, the SSD isn’t of the NVMe variety. It offers a battery life of up to 13 hours. According to the company, the device is 20% lighter and 15% thinner than its predecessor. It weighs 1.16kg and measures 17.4mm in thickness.

Lenovo has also upgraded its T series with new ThinkPad T480, T480s and T580 devices. The company described this series as the “corporate workhorse.” It features an IR camera, a fingerprint reader, and the ThinkShutter Camera Privacy.

All of these models packs up to 8th-gen Core i7 processors with vPro. The T580 model also has an option to include a 4K UHD display. According to the company, some models in the series can also be equipped with dual batteries (32Wh and 72Wh) for up to 27 hours of battery life.

The pricing for the ThinkPad T480 starts at $989, the T480s starts at $1,269, and the T580 starts at $1,079. All these models will be available for purchase from January.

The Lenovo ThinkPad L series is also getting four new models — ThinkPad L380, ThinkPad L380 Yoga, ThinkPad L480, and the ThinkPad L580. They feature a lighter form factor and thinner bodies, along with optional multi-touch displays and docking solutions.

The L-series devices won’t be available until February. In terms of pricing, they’re less expensive compared to the ThinkPad T series. The ThinkPad L380 Yoga starts at $549, the L380 starting at $449, the L480 starting at $779, and the L580 starting at $769.

The Lenovo ThinkPad L380 comes with a 13.3-inch Full HD screen and can be specified with up to Core i7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and up to 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD. The ThinkPad L380 Yoga is a convertible with similar specifications to the L380. It is claimed to come with 12 hours of battery life.

On the other hand, the ThinkPad L480 and L580 models come with a 14-inch and 15-inch display respectively. They pack same core specifications as L380 but there is an option to add a second drive – a hard disk of up to 1TB or 2TB capacity, respectively.

Lenovo also unveiled a new tablet — the Lenovo Tablet 10. It packs an Intel Celeron N Series processor, a fingerprint reader, and a battery that can last for about nine hours on single charge. It comes with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) to better protect business assets, according to the company.

The company has also shown some new monitors. The ThinkVision P32u is a 32-inch IPS monitor with a 4K resolution that delivers 99.5% coverage of the AdobeRGB colour gamut. Another one is ThinkVision X24 that has a 23.8-inch screen with a Full HD resolution. It is super-sleek in terms of an ‘infinity screen’ with a 1.1mm bezel, while the display itself is just 4mm thick.

Lenovo has claimmed that the X1 Carbon battery is got 8.6 hours, while for mixedtest, the battery only reach 6 hours 18 minutes. Although this result is higher than last year’s models, but not too good as Sony, HP and Apple laptop.

The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon has now hit the U.S. market, starting at $ 1,259 USD, that packs with a Core i5 processor, sports with 4GB of RAM, and has 128GB solid state drive and 1080P screen (does not support touch). Today, Lenovo has been unveiled their new product which dedicated for mobile user, lenovo ThinkPad Helix Tablet PC.
