We have been hearing rumors about this particular device for the past few months, but finally we will be meeting this beast tomorrow, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/01/huawei-mate-8-will-release-on-november-26/">at the company&#8217;s official event in China.</a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-65264" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-02.jpg?x10805" alt="mate 8 invite 02" width="440" height="293" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-02.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-02-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>Since there&#8217;s just one day for the official release, we decided to summarize the information about the Mate 8 that we know till now. We don&#8217;t expect much to change in a day, so most of the details mentioned here should be confirmed by the company tomorrow.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">HUAWEI MATE 8 DESIGN</span></strong></h3>
<p>Huawei Mate 7&#8217;s design got a BIG YES from customers for its premium all metal design and refined looks. No wonder the company decided to build upon the same design on the Mate S and also the upcoming Mate 8. In the past few weeks, we have seen plenty of leaked pictures of the device, enough to get us an idea about how the device will look.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/s_1d1ecda2c62247648ec26d305aff9f36.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-65415" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/s_1d1ecda2c62247648ec26d305aff9f36.jpg?x10805" alt="s_1d1ecda2c62247648ec26d305aff9f36" width="600" height="324" /></a></p>
<p>The pictures reveal that the<strong> Huawei Mate 8 will continue with the all metal build as the Mate S</strong>. In fact, the company has decided to stick with the basic design as the Mate S on the new flagship. This includes <strong>sleek body, gently curved corners and smooth metal back</strong>. However, there are a few differences that we can expected on the Mate 8. First of all, th<strong>e camera sensor is now round instead of square</strong>. The company has also made the <strong>fingerprint sensor at the back circular</strong>. You also get the Huawei logo at the back near the bottom. The front remains more or less like the Mate S, with the Huawei branding on the bezel below the display.</p>

<p>The most interesting part of the design is going to be its display. From the leaked images that we have seen lately, the bezels are going to be super thin. This along with the sleek metal body makes the phone looks super premium.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-02.jpg?x10805'><img width="440" height="587" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-02.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-02.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-02-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-02-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a>
<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-01.jpg?x10805'><img width="440" height="587" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-01.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-01.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-01-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-ad-01-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a>

<p>Thanks to the Huawei Mate 8 advertisements leaked today, the design of the phone is confirmed.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">HUAWEI MATE 8 SPECS</span></strong></h3>
<p>Its confirmed that the Huawei Mate 8 will come with the powerful Kirin 950 chipset. The chip is one of the first commercially available SoCs to use the new <strong>ARM Cortex A72 Cores</strong> and this will definitely be evident in the phone&#8217;s powerful performance.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate8-specs-leaked-01.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-62730" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate8-specs-leaked-01.jpg?x10805" alt="huawei-mate8-specs-leaked-01" width="600" height="770" /></a></p>
<p>There are expected to be at least two variants of the device, one with <strong>3GB RAM and 32GB of storage</strong> and the other with 4<strong>GB RAM and 64GB of storage</strong>. According to a <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/23/huawei-mate-8-to-start-at-32gb-internal-storage/">clue inside the invite</a>, there probably won&#8217;t be a 16GB storage variant. However, there have been rumors about a third variant with an even larger 128GB storage variant.</p>
<p>As for the display, a<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/19/huawei-mate-8-spotted-on-antutu-scores-above-79000-points/" target="_blank"> recent benchmark listing</a> revealed that the phone will continue to use the same <strong>6-inch display as the Mate 7 with FHD 1080p resolution</strong>. However, there have been <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/16/huawei-mate-8-will-available-3-variants/" target="_blank">rumors about three different screen sizes</a>, a smaller variant featuring a 5.7-inch screen and a larger variant with 6.2-inch screen and QHD resolution. But we are not quite sure of that at the moment. We still don&#8217;t know which all versions will use the company&#8217;s Force Touch feature.</p>
<p>As for the camera, expect a 1<strong>6MP sensor at the back with dual LED flash and a 8MP shooter up front</strong>. The battery is expected to be at least <strong>4000mAh to power these high-end specs</strong>. Like we saw in the images above, the phone will come with a fingerprint sensor at the back. Mate 7&#8217;s fingerprint was considered as the best of its time, so we expect an accurate sensor behind the Mate 8 flagship as well. Finally, for software, you can expect none other than the <strong>Android 6.0 Marshmallow based version of Huawei&#8217;s new EMUI (Emotion UI) version</strong>.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">HUAWEI MATE 8 BENCHMARK</span></strong></h3>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-64329" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate 8 Antutu benchmark specs" width="600" height="950" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs-189x300.jpg 189w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs-265x420.jpg 265w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Luckily, even before the release, we have some benchmark figures of the device. The Mate 8 was recently spotted on AnTuTu benchmark revealing the true performance of the Kirin 950 under the hood.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-AnTuTu-benchmark-score.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-64328" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-AnTuTu-benchmark-score.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate 8 AnTuTu benchmark score" width="1024" height="708" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-AnTuTu-benchmark-score.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-AnTuTu-benchmark-score-300x207.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-AnTuTu-benchmark-score-600x415.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-AnTuTu-benchmark-score-607x420.jpg 607w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-AnTuTu-benchmark-score-640x443.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-AnTuTu-benchmark-score-681x471.jpg 681w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>On AnTuTu, the Mate 8 flagship scored an impressive <strong>79,131</strong> points which is even higher than the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/09/23/meizu-pro-5-benchmarks-published-beats-samsung-galaxy-s6/" target="_blank">Exynos 7420 powered Meizu Pro 5</a>. With such specs, we are sure that you won&#8217;t be disappointed with its overall performance.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">HUAWEI MATE 8 PRICE</span></strong></h3>
<p>Huawei has never been the cheap and affordable smartphone maker like Xiaomi or Meizu. Instead, the company has always set its eyes up on top, alongside Samsung and Apple. So, don&#8217;t expect the pricing of the Mate 8 to be cheap. In fact, according to a report from China, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/18/huawei-mate-8-price-leaks-ahead-launch-costlier-iphone-6s-2/" target="_blank">manufacturing cost of the device could go well above $266</a>, which is higher than iPhone 6S. So, the final price could be a quite high.</p>
<p>According to the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/19/huawei-mate-8-new-pictures-surface-online-will-priced-3500-yuan/" target="_blank">recent rumors</a>, you can expect the pricing above 3500 Yuan. To be precise, expect the <strong>3GB RAM + 32GB</strong> storage version to retail at<strong> 3499 Yuan (around $550)</strong> and the <strong>4GB + 64GB version at 3899 Yuan ($610)</strong>. If there&#8217;s a QHD display + 128GB storage variant, the price would be even higher.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">HUAWEI MATE 8 RELEASE </span></strong></h3>
<p>Well, this one we know for sure. The Mate 8 flagship will be announced at the tomorrow&#8217;s event. Expect the phone to hit the stores a couple of weeks after that.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-62606" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate 8 launch" width="440" height="623" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch-212x300.jpg 212w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch-297x420.jpg 297w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>So, this was all we know about the Mate 8. Its turning out to be quite a powerful flagship. Expect more details at tomorrow&#8217;s launch event.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, let me know what you feel about the device. Do you think these specs justify a price tag of $550 and above? Would you consider buying one in the coming months?</p>

While we wait for the official unveiling, the company has started sending out invites for the official event. And the company has hidden a clue inside these invites.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-03.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-65263" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-03.jpg?x10805" alt="mate 8 invite 03" width="440" height="293" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-03.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-03-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>Several Chinese media outlets have reported of receiving a disk with 32GB of storage inside their invites. So, what is Huawei trying to tell us? This most likely represents the internal storage of the Mate 8 flagship. Usually, flagships start at 16GB of memory with 32GB, 64GB and even 128GB options available. However, it looks like the Mate 8 will start at 32GB of storage.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-65264" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-02.jpg?x10805" alt="mate 8 invite 02" width="440" height="293" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-02.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/mate-8-invite-02-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>As for the other specs, the Huawei Mate 8 will feature Kirin 950 chip with 3GB and 4GB RAM options. There will be a large 6-inch display like the previous generation with FHD 1080p resolution. At the back, the phone will feature a 16MP shooter and up front, an 8MP sensor. Like the Mate 7, the battery is expected to be large, around 4000mAh. As for software, the phone will come with the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update out of the box.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-64329" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate 8 Antutu benchmark specs" width="600" height="950" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs-189x300.jpg 189w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Antutu-benchmark-specs-265x420.jpg 265w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>A recent<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/19/huawei-mate-8-spotted-on-antutu-scores-above-79000-points/"> benchmark listing on AnTuTu had showed that the phone managed to score an impressive 79K </a>points. However, with such powerful specs, don&#8217;t expect the phone to retail for a cheap price. In fact, a<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/18/huawei-mate-8-price-leaks-ahead-launch-costlier-iphone-6s-2/"> recent report suggested that the cost of manufacturing the device was well above 1700 Yuan ($266)</a>, so you can expect the final price to be quite high as well.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate-8-3c-certification.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-63345" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate-8-3c-certification.png?x10805" alt="huawei mate 8 3c certification" width="1009" height="476" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate-8-3c-certification.png 1009w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate-8-3c-certification-300x142.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate-8-3c-certification-600x283.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate-8-3c-certification-890x420.png 890w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate-8-3c-certification-640x302.png 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/huawei-mate-8-3c-certification-681x321.png 681w" sizes="(max-width: 1009px) 100vw, 1009px" /></a></p>
<p>The Huawei Mate 8 flagship is expected to come in three different variants, NXT-AL10, NXT-CL00, NXT-TL00. These three version will most likely be for the three different state-run carriers in the country, namely China Unicom, China Telecom and China Mobile. The listing reveals that all the three version of the flagship will support fast charging at <strong>5V 2A</strong> and even at <strong>9V 2A</strong> taking the maximum effective wattage up to 18W. Given that the phone supports fast charge at 9V 2A, we can expect a large battery (most likely 4000mAh+) on this device.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Proto.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-62722" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Proto.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei-Mate-8-Proto" width="678" height="886" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Proto.jpg 678w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Proto-230x300.jpg 230w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Proto-600x784.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Proto-321x420.jpg 321w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-Proto-640x836.jpg 640w" sizes="(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px" /></a></p>
<p>Other specs of the device are also expected to be pretty high-end. First of all, the phone will run on the newly announced Kirin 950 chipset, which according to the company&#8217;s own test rig, managed to score around <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/05/huaweis-kirin-950-chip-is-official-features-cortex-a72-i5-co-processor/">83,000 on AnTuTu,</a> well above competitors. It is said that there will be two versions of the device, 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB. As for the display, you can expect a 5.7-inch screen with FHD 1080p resolution. At the back, there should be a 13MP Sony sensor, while up front, expect an 8MP shooter. Finally, for software, the phone will most likely come with EMUI 4.0 based on the latest Android 6.0 build.</p>
<p>Apart from the Kirin 950 chip inside, the company is yet to confirm the key specifications of the Mate 8 flagship. But from the recent rumors and leaks that we have been seeing about the device, the phone is going to be a high-end device for sure. Naturally, the pricing is also expected to be high, so you can expect it to be higher than $500.</p>
<p>Stay tuned for more details.</p>

Later in the evening, the company confirmed that the upcoming Huawei flagship, the Huawei Mate 8 will feature this chip.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/kirin-950.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-63145" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/kirin-950.jpg?x10805" alt="kirin 950" width="440" height="593" /></a></p>
<p>The Kirin 950 seems to be a great chip on paper and we would really like to see its performance in real life. With Huawei Mate 8&#8217;s launch just a couple of weeks away, we will soon be able to judge the real life performance of the chip. In fact, in the initial test rig set out by Huawei at yesterday&#8217;s event, the Kirin 950 powered smartphone managed to score a whopping <strong>83000 points</strong> on AnTuTu which is better than any other chip we have seen lately.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MAte-8-specs-GFXBench.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-63144" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MAte-8-specs-GFXBench.jpg?x10805" alt="MAte 8 specs GFXBench" width="610" height="741" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MAte-8-specs-GFXBench.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MAte-8-specs-GFXBench-247x300.jpg 247w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MAte-8-specs-GFXBench-600x729.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MAte-8-specs-GFXBench-346x420.jpg 346w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>Moreover, with Mate 8&#8217;s high-end specs and 1080p display (since <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/01/22/huaweis-execute-trolls-meizu-xiaomi-using-2k-screens/">Huawei doesn&#8217;t believe 2K is required on smartphones</a>), the performance should be pretty good. According to a recent listing on GFXBench, we came to know some of the possible specifications of the Mate 8 handset. The flagship will be powered by Kirin 950 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There will be a 1080p 6-inch display up front. As for the camera, you can expect to see a 16MP shooter at the back along with an 8MP front facing one. The specs are definitely going to be high-end, so the overall performance should be better than most other phones we have seen recently.</p>
<p>With the efficient yet powerful Kirin 950, the phone should definitely attract the interests of power users. Stay tuned to the site for more updates on the Mate 8 flagship.</p>

He had said in an <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/10/28/ceo-reaffirms-mate-8-will-launch-with-kirin-950-by-the-end-of-2015/">interview that the flagship was delayed mainly because the company wanted to use the new Kirin 950 chipset</a>, which is said to be more powerful than Exynos or Snapdragon.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-62606" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch.jpg?x10805" alt="Huawei Mate 8 launch" width="440" height="623" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch.jpg 440w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch-212x300.jpg 212w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/Huawei-Mate-8-launch-297x420.jpg 297w" sizes="(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px" /></a></p>
<p>Looks like the time has come for both the Kirin 950 and the Mate 8 flagship to launch. Earlier today, Huawei posted a new teaser via its official Weibo page with the giant number 8 in the center, confirming that the Mate 8 will come on November 26. While, the poster says nothing about the Kirin 950 chipset, Chengdong had said that the flagship will feature high-end chipset which means it could debut along with this device.</p>
<p>It is said that the self-developed Kirin 950 chip will feature quad Cortex A72 and quad Cortex A53 Cores clocked at 2.4GHz. There will be Mali-T880 GPU on board with i7 co-processor, Tensilica Hi-fi Audio DSP and Cat. 10 LTE connectivity. The performance is said to be better than both, Samsung Exynos 7420 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.</p>
<p>The Huawei Mate is said to be a very powerful device. It is expected to come with a 6-inch 2.5D Force Touch Display with two versions, the standard edition with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM and the high-end edition with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. There will be 20MP camera at the back and an 8MP shooter up front. The phone will feature all metal design like the Mate S and will come with a large battery to support the high-end specs.</p>
<p>The release of the Mate S will definitely confuse the buyers to some extent. Its quite close to the Mate S flagship that was announced just a couple of months back. However, considering the specifications, we can say that the Mate 8 is kind of the higher end variant of the Mate S with a larger display and a faster processor.</p>
<p>Anyways, since the Mate 8 launch is still about three weeks away, we are sure to see some more information about the device. So, stay tuned.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

We are still unsure whether it will be the Huawei Mate 8 flagship or the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/07/22/huawei-might-release-mate-7-plus-in-september-mate-8-could-be-postponed-to-next-year/"> Mate 7 Plus as rumored earlier</a>, but earlier today, a new video was posted on YouTube which showed off the device in action.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/huawei-mate-8-prototype.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-55431" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/huawei-mate-8-prototype.jpg?x10805" alt="huawei-mate-8-prototype" width="600" height="338" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/huawei-mate-8-prototype.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/huawei-mate-8-prototype-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>While the video is of just 18 seconds, it was enough for a basic walk-through of the new design of the device. Apart from a few changes, the overall design seems to be the continuation from the Mate 7 flagship.</p>
<p>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4NNQU35KZs</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>As for the specs, the Mate 8 is rumored to come with a 6-inch 2K display (490 ppi) along with Huawei&#8217;s latest Kirin 950 chipset. This new chip is expected to directly compete with the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm. Like tradition, Huawei is also said to offer two different versions of the Mate 8, one with 3GB RAM + 16GB of storage while the high-end model with 4GB RAM + 64GB of storage.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/huawei-mate-8-prototype-02.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-55430" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/huawei-mate-8-prototype-02.jpg?x10805" alt="huawei-mate-8-prototype 02" width="600" height="338" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/huawei-mate-8-prototype-02.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/huawei-mate-8-prototype-02-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>There will be a 20.7MP camera at the back, with a fingerprint scanner just below it. According to reviews, the fingerprint scanner on the Mate 7 was one of the best in the market at that time. So, it would be interesting to see if we find better tech on the new Mate 8. Up front, the phone is expected to come with an 8MP shooter, ideal for selfies. Finally, the battery is expected to be larger than the Mate 7. This would really be a great move since the current Mate flagship comes with a 4100mAh capacity battery and anything more than this should only increase the overall battery life of the phablet.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, the company hasn&#8217;t officially revealed anything about this upcoming Mate flagship. Also, the phone in the video may be a different device than the Mate 8. So, before making any more conclusions, lets wait for some concrete information about the upcoming flagship.</p>

<p>We have seen a number of smartphones from the company in 2015 like the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/04/15/huawei-unveils-new-flagship-p8-smartphone/"> Huawei P8</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/06/30/huawei-honor-7-is-official-with-5-2-inch-1080p-display-kirin-935-fingerprint-id/">Honor 7</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/04/23/huawei-may-unveil-three-devices-on-april-28-honor-4c-play-4c-note-and-4c-max/">Honor 4C</a>,<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2015/07/21/huawei-officially-launches-the-honor-4a-budget-smartphone/"> 4A</a>, etc. This would be the third major smartphone flagship from the company this year, which clearly shows the amount of investment in the smartphone market.</p>
<p>The company hasn&#8217;t officially revealed any details for the Mate 8, but it is said that the phone will feature the new Kirin 950 64-bit chip with 3GB / 4GB RAM versions. Like the previous generation Mate 7, the new model is also expected to come with an all metal design. There should be a 20.7MP camera at the back along with a fingerprint sensor. Other details are scarce, but we can expect to hear a lot more information in the coming days.</p>
