<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a>&#8216;s next top flagship could be its most ambitious tablet yet. A new rumor suggests that the upcoming MatePad Pro (2026) could finally arrive with support for PC applications. This could bring a notable edge to this premium tablet over its competitors.</p>

<h2>Next-Gen Huawei MatePad Pro Tipped to Run PC Apps</h2>

<p>According to <a href="https://weibo.com/5821279480/PE6xJaaJf?pagetype=profilefeed" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fixed Focus Digital </a>on Weibo, the Chinese tech giant is planning on bringing a true cross platform experience on its new flagship tablet. The MatePad Pro (2026) might support PC apps with a user interface. We might also get a new version of HarmonyOS, which could make them offer similar functionality to the brand&#8217;s MateBook. In other words, the MatePro Pro fully integrates PC apps, allowing for better productivity as well.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="575" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-12.2-1024x575.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2" class="wp-image-700059" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-12.2-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-12.2-300x168.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-12.2-768x431.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-12.2-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-12.2-1068x599.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-12.2-748x420.jpg 748w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-12.2.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Huawei MatePad Pro 12.2 (2025)</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>This could blur the lines between a PC and tablet, which is something Apple has been doing with its iPad. However, Apple still locks its flagship iPad Pros, so there is still no direct support for desktop grade applications even if the tablet has enough horsepower for said platform. So Huawei&#8217;s next top tablets might have a considerable advantage in this regard. Huawei built HarmonyOS with multi platform integration in mind, so this seems like the next step for a more seamless ecosystem.</p>

<p>As of right now, this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt. But if this is true, we can expect the PC app support to arrive alongside HarmonyOS 6. Huawei sells its MatePad Pro in 13.2-inch and 12.2-inch (<strong><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/22/huawei-matepad-pro-12-2-inch-review-some-users-will-certainly-ditch-their-notebooks-for-it/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Review</a></strong>) variants, but the next generation could sport an even larger 14.2-inch, which is as tall as a laptop in terms of screen real estate. We can also expect a high resolution OLED display to make a return, along with a new Kirin 9000 series processor. </p>

Notably, it also features the highest screen-to-body ratio in the industry (94 percent). The front also has minimal bezels on the side, a notch on the top, and a thin design. The MatePad Pro 13.2&#8243; weighs just 580 grams and measures an impressive 5.5mm in thickness. Huawei claims that it is the world&#8217;s thinnest and lightest tablet for its large size. </p>

<h2>Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2&#8243; Specs &amp; Stylus</h2>

<p>Under the hood, the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 is equipped with the Kirin 9000s, which is the same chipset that powers the brand&#8217;s Mate 60 series of flagship smartphones. This processor is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The company focused on the cooling mechanism as the device houses 52000m㎡ of graphite for heat dissipation and VC liquid cooling. A massive 10,100mAh battery pack powers the tablet that supports 88W fast charging as well. In 40 minutes of charging, the device can hit 85 percent charge, while a full charge takes around 65 minutes.</p>

<p>For audio, the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 is equipped with 6 dual-channel speakers (dual high frequency and 4 low frequency), supports spatial audio, and Huawei Sound certification. The front houses a 16-megapixel and a ToF sensor, while the rear features a 13-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual camera setup. Other notable features include Bluetooth 5.2, AAC, and LDAC codecs. <p>This pen uses StarLight technology with over 10,000 levels of pressure and its latency can hit as low as 0ms. As per the official notes, the M-Pen stylus is fast and can offer an improved writing and drawing experience than its predecessor. The stylus was compared to the Apple Pen, with Huawei claiming that the accuracy is 20 percent higher than the 2nd gen Apple Pen. Paired with the tall display, creative users can expect a smooth experience with the new stylus.</p>

Alongside the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-matepad-pro-12-6-2021/">Huawei MatePad Pro 12.9</a> is the most advanced tablet in the Android world. Here is a comparison between the three of the best tablets out there: Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s7-plus">Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+</a>, and the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-ipad-pro-12-9-2021/">iPad Pro</a> with Apple M1.</p>

<h2></h2>
<h2>Design</h2>
<p>The design is not the most important aspect when it comes to the tablets, but it does not hurt. The iPad Pro 12.9 has a more squarish shape since it comes with a 4:3 aspect ratio, while Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ and Huawei MatePad Pro are more rectangular with their 16:10 aspect ratio. The 4:3 aspect ratio is better for reading, watching photos, and surfing the internet, while the 16:10 aspect ratio is better for video content.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Display</h2>
<p>The most attractive display belongs to the new iPad Pro, which is the first tablet sporting a mini LED display. This Liquid Retina XDR panel also comes with a 120 Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support. But despite it is a so advanced display, it is an LCD panel. With the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, you can get an AMOLED display with HDR10+ certification and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The MatePad Pro offers an OLED display as well, but it lacks a high refresh rate and it is smaller. All the tablets support a pen and a physical keyboard.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Hardware/Software</h2>
<p>In each case, you get a flagship-class hardware department. But the Apple iPad Pro is actually the best one in terms of hardware. The new proprietary chipset Apple M1 provides astonishing performance and it is also used on the 2021 iMac. Further, the tablet has up to 16 GB of RAM and it is the world&#8217;s first tablet with 2 TB of internal storage. It runs iPadOS, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ runs Android 11 and MatePad Pro comes with the Android fork HarmonyOS 2.0.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Camera</h2>
<p>Not only the most advanced camera: the iPad Pro M1 has also the best camera. It is equipped with a 12 MP main sensor with an f/1.8 focal aperture, a 10 MP ultrawide sensor, and a TOF 3D LiDAR scanner for AR appliances. It also boasts an amazing 12 MP front camera. Right after, we got the Huawei MatePad Pro with a 13 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor, and a TOF 3D sensor.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Battery</h2>
<p>It is still too early to evaluate the battery life of these tablets because the Huawei MatePad Pro just came out and we had no chance to test it. But there are important differences when it comes to charging: MatePad Pro is the only one to support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging; further, it provides blazing speeds with wired charging thanks to a power of 40W.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Price</h2>
<p>The starting price of the Huawei MatePad Pro is €800/$975, Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ starts from €900/$850, and the iPad Pro M1 starts from €1200. The iPad Pro M1 wins the comparison with its amazing hardware, better camera department, mini LED display, and superior operating system for productivity.</p>

While it has released other premium tablets before, the MatePad Pro raised the bar higher with its features and design. Huawei is set to announce a less powerful variant soon that ditches the “Pro” suffix and will have a more affordable price tag.</p>

<p>A report from China says the MatePad line may replace the MediaPad line. According to the source, the MatePad Pro was originally termed the MediaPad M7, thus lending further credence to the report.</p>
<p>The question is why is Huawei ditching MediaPad for MatePad? First, let&#8217;s go back in time to when the series was first announced.</p>
<p>Huawei announced the MediaPad tablet line in 2011 and its selling point was its audio and visual performance which is why features such as stereo and quad speakers were some of the top features of MediaPad tablets.</p>
<p>Now that tablets are serving as alternatives to PCs and MacBooks, the MediaPad name doesn&#8217;t fit for a tablet targeted at professionals. As we all know the MatePad Pro is advertised as a productivity device with a stylus and an optional keyboard. The upcoming MatePad is also being marketed as a productivity device and also has support for a stylus.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_273958" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-273958" style="width: 500px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-273958" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-MediaPad-M6-Turbo-8.4.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei MediaPad M6 Turbo 8.4" width="500" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-MediaPad-M6-Turbo-8.4.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-MediaPad-M6-Turbo-8.4-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-MediaPad-M6-Turbo-8.4-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-MediaPad-M6-Turbo-8.4-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-273958" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei MediaPad M6 Turbo 8.4</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Does that mean, Huawei is no longer catering to those who just want to buy a tablet for entertainment?</p>
<p>Not really. Aside from the upcoming MatePad, there is also a third model that is called the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/11/huawei-matepad-t-press-render-leaks-gets-wi-fi-certification-too/">MediaPad T</a> that received Wi-Fi certification earlier this month. This model appears to be an entry-level model with modest specs that can be used for reading and entertainment but not productive work like the MatePad and MatePad Pro. <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> also seems to still be in the tablet game, so there should be more options to choose from if you want an affordable tablet.</p>
<p>Huawei should complete the transition from MediaPad to MatePad this year. It is reported that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mediapad-m6-8-4/">MediaPad M6 8.4-inch</a> is no longer available on Huawei&#8217;s Vmall online store. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mediapad-m6-10-8/">10.8 version</a> may also be pulled down when the MatePad with its 10.4-inch screen is announced.</p>

Since it went on sale nearly two weeks ago, only the White and Ash variants have been available for purchase. However, starting tomorrow the Danxia Orange and Castle Peak colorways which have a different material finish, actually leather, will become available for purchase.</p>
<p>Unlike the other two color variants, the orange and green leather variants are limited to two configurations only and they are the WiFi-only 8GB + 256GB version and the 8GB + 512GB LTE version. Both are priced at ¥4999 (~$713) and ¥5999 (~$856) respectively on Vmall. They are more expensive than the other variants of the same configuration because they ship with the M-Pencil and the keyboard included.</p>

<p>The MatePad Pro is the first tablet in the world with a punch-hole display. The screen measures 10.8-inches in size and has a 2560 x 1600 QHD resolution. There is a Kirin 990 processor under the hood and along with the aforementioned configurations, there are also 6GB + 128GB WiFi-only and LTE variants. Irrespective of the version you purchase, there is support for storage expansion.</p>
<p>The MatePad Pro has a single 13MP f/1.8 camera on the rear while an 8MP f/2.0 camera sits inside the punch-hole. It has quad speakers but no audio jack, Bluetooth 5.1, and a USB Type-C port. It packs a 7250mAh battery with support for 40W SuperCharge wired charging and 15W wireless charging. It also supports 7.5W reverse wireless charging. The M-Pencil charges wirelessly when placed at the top (in landscape mode) of the tablet.</p>
<p>Huawei revealed at the launch that a<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/25/huawei-matepad-pro-5g-version-will-launch-in-q1-2020/"> 5G version of the MatePad Pro will be available in the first quarter of 2020</a>. <p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291350" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/matepad-pro-vs-ipad-pro.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1280" height="644" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/matepad-pro-vs-ipad-pro.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/matepad-pro-vs-ipad-pro-300x151.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/matepad-pro-vs-ipad-pro-768x386.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/matepad-pro-vs-ipad-pro-1024x515.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/matepad-pro-vs-ipad-pro-696x350.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/matepad-pro-vs-ipad-pro-1068x537.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/matepad-pro-vs-ipad-pro-835x420.jpg 835w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>If you’re looking for a tablet that can double as a laptop, two of the best options are the iPad Pro and freshly-announced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/25/huawei-matepad-pro-with-10-8-inch-punch-hole-display-kirin-990-massive-battery-with-15w-wireless-charging-is-official/">Huawei MatePad Pro</a>. Both devices sport super-slim bezels, support for a pen, and a keyboard accessory that you may need for typing.</p>
<p>The Huawei MatePad Pro is the newer of the two devices, though you might be wondering how it stands up to the latest iPad Pro. In this guide, we’ll compare design, performance, and portability, and help you choose the right one for you.</p>
<h2>Design</h2>
<p>In terms of design, both iPad Pro and MatePad Pro are super slim and pack a large immersive display. There are some notable differences, however. First off, the bezels on the MatePad Pro are just barely slimmer all the way around on the top, left, right, and bottom sides of the device.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291339" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1200" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The iPad Pro is no slouch however, and you&#8217;d struggle to find anyone who would describe its bezels as chunky. Both feature very similar designs, and it&#8217;s not necessarily a bad thing. They&#8217;re both sleekly designed, and it&#8217;d be hard to find someone who&#8217;d complain about either design.</p>
<h2>Display</h2>
<p>The Huawei MatePad Pro comes with an 10.8-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and DCI-P3 color gamut. With 4.9mm slim bezels around the display, the MatePad Pro promises a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent. It features a punch-hole for the front camera as well.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291340" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/gsmarena_009.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="727" height="454" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/gsmarena_009.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/gsmarena_009-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/gsmarena_009-696x435.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/gsmarena_009-673x420.jpg 673w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The iPad Pro 12.9 has a 2,732 x 2,048 (264 PPI) LCD display with Apple’s ‘Liquid Retina’ LCD tech, which is nearly as sharp and colorful as a typical OLED display. Colours pop out very well and blacks, while not as deep as OLED displays, are still very good. In terms of specifications, both displays are very similar.</p>
<h2>Connectivity</h2>
<p>Next, there is a need to address connectivity, which is also different between the two tablets. On the iPad Pro, there is a single USB-C port, as well as a keyboard connector port and a nano SIM Slot. On the the MatePad Pro are Bluetooth and a single USB-C port. The MatePad Pro only has a sim slot and GPS on the LTE model however.</p>
<p>Both products lack a headphone jack, which means you’ll need to buy a dongle or use a newer pair of headphones.</p>
<h2>Performance</h2>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291342" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-kirin-990-s1-5g-product-image.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1507" height="697" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-kirin-990-s1-5g-product-image.jpg 1507w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-kirin-990-s1-5g-product-image-300x139.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-kirin-990-s1-5g-product-image-768x355.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-kirin-990-s1-5g-product-image-1024x474.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-kirin-990-s1-5g-product-image-696x322.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-kirin-990-s1-5g-product-image-1068x494.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-kirin-990-s1-5g-product-image-908x420.jpg 908w" sizes="(max-width: 1507px) 100vw, 1507px" /></p>
<p>In terms of performance, there’s quite a bit difference between the iPad Pro and the MatePad Pro. For the MatePad Pro, Huawei resorted to using their tried and trusted Kirin 990 SoC, which makes a lot of sense for them. The iPad Pro, meanwhile, sports a custom ARM-based Apple SoC, named the Apple A12 bionic.</p>
<figure class="alignnone"></figure>
<p>Along with the Kirin 990, the MatePad pro also sports upto 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. There is a nanoSD card slot onboard for expanding its storage, which is simply excellent, and it&#8217;s something the Apple simply doesn&#8217;t offer.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291343" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screen_Shot_2018_09_12_at_2.36.27_PM.1536774839.jpeg?x44794" alt="" width="1200" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screen_Shot_2018_09_12_at_2.36.27_PM.1536774839.jpeg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screen_Shot_2018_09_12_at_2.36.27_PM.1536774839-300x200.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screen_Shot_2018_09_12_at_2.36.27_PM.1536774839-768x512.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screen_Shot_2018_09_12_at_2.36.27_PM.1536774839-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screen_Shot_2018_09_12_at_2.36.27_PM.1536774839-696x464.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screen_Shot_2018_09_12_at_2.36.27_PM.1536774839-1068x712.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screen_Shot_2018_09_12_at_2.36.27_PM.1536774839-630x420.jpeg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>Now onto the iPad Pro. It sports the A12 Bionic processor. This has eight cores and also an embedded M12 co-processor, and it&#8217;s already well know for being one of the fast mobile processors around. The processor has been proven to be able to run editing programs and games like Civilization VI with no issues. No matter what you download from the app store, the iPad Pro will run it at breakneck speeds.</p>
<h2>Software</h2>
<p>Quite obviously, the iPad Pro is limited to apps in the App Store, as it is powered by iPadOS. We&#8217;d usually list this as a con, but the Huawei MatePad Pro may have it worse. Considering Huawei&#8217;s current position, the MatePad Pro, despite running Android 10, does not have GMS, which means all apps will come from Huawei&#8217;s App Gallery, limiting choices.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291338" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1500" height="1137" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_.jpg 1500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_-300x227.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_-768x582.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_-1024x776.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_-696x528.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_-1068x810.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/aplus_iPadPro_desktop_slices_05._CB480117032_-554x420.jpg 554w" sizes="(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px" /></p>
<p>That said, it&#8217;s not all completely bad. There is a multi-screen collaborative feature on the MatePad Pro that allow users to clone the phone’s interface on its screen. This feature can be used to transfer files between the devices conveniently. The cloned phone on the MatePad Pro can be also used to answer phone calls and send/receive text messages. By connecting the optional keyboard, the tablet’s interface will switch to computer mode to offers users with a friendly desktop PC experience.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291219" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro.png?x44794" alt="" width="767" height="416" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro.png 767w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-300x163.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-696x377.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px" /></p>
<h2>Battery</h2>
<figure class="alignnone"></figure>
<figure class="alignnone"></figure>
<p>Now, for battery life. With the iPad Pro, Apple promises up to 10 hours of battery life, though we were able to push our iPad Pro through several days with a few hours usage at a time. The iPad Pro also supports fast charging, with the <a href="https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MR2A2LL/A/30w-usb-c-power-adapter" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">optional 30-watt USB-C Power Adapter</a>.</p>
<p>Next, the Huawei MatePad Pro is equipped with a huge 7,250mAh battery that support 40W rapid charging. However, the device ships with 20W fast charger. There is also support for 15W wireless charging and 7.5W reverse wireless charging on the MatePad Pro.</p>
<h2>Accessories</h2>
<p>Huawei’s M-Pencil boasts a 10-hour battery life that can be wirelessly charged to full within an hour. The gadget features magnetic absorption and a sensitivity of 4096 which translates to an overall smooth and accurate writing experience. The stylus can be charged wirelessly by simply attaching to the device.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291216" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-M-Pencil.png?x44794" alt="" width="1217" height="446" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-M-Pencil.png 1217w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-M-Pencil-300x110.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-M-Pencil-768x281.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-M-Pencil-1024x375.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-M-Pencil-696x255.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-M-Pencil-1068x391.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Huawei-MatePad-Pro-M-Pencil-1146x420.png 1146w" sizes="(max-width: 1217px) 100vw, 1217px" /></p>
<p>Perhaps the biggest upside to the M-Pencil however is that it&#8217;s essentially free with any MatePad Pro purchase. As a standalone purchase, the M-Pencil costs 699 yuan, or $99. That’s significantly less than the <a href="https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MU8F2AM/A/apple-pencil-2nd-generation" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">$129 Apple Pencil</a>, which is functionally about the exact same as the Huawei alternative.</p>
<p>Finally, both 2-in-1’s sport an option for a keyboard cover. <a href="https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MJYR2LL/A/smart-keyboard-for-129-inch-ipad-pro-us-english" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple’s Smart Keyboard</a> comes in at the cost of $170. It’s fairly comfortable and has a lot of key travel, as we found in our review. However, there’s no touchpad on board. That holds it back from being a true laptop replacement. It also doubles as a stand, propping up the screen to up to two angles.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291339" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1200" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/akrales_181102_3064_0082_hero.0-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>Feature-wise, the Huawei MatePad Pro is almost exactly the same as the iPad Pro&#8217;s. It features a similar keyboard layout, as well as the same stand prop on the back. Huawei MatePad Pro&#8217;s keyboard cover however is that it&#8217;s free with any purchase of the MatePad Pro. On its own, it&#8217;s 499 yuan or $71, significantly cheaper than Apple&#8217;s offering.</p>
<h2>Pricing</h2>
<p>For the Huawei MatePad Pro, the Wi-Fi only 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage edition is priced at 4,999 Yuan (~$711) and its LTE enabled 8 GB RAM + 512 GB storage edition costs 5,999 Yuan (~$853). For the iPad Pro, prices begin at $799 for 11-inch model and $999 for the 12.9-inch model. The LTE iPad Pros cost $150 more than their base models.</p>
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291337" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/616585-word-processing.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="810" height="456" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/616585-word-processing.jpg 810w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/616585-word-processing-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/616585-word-processing-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/616585-word-processing-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/616585-word-processing-746x420.jpg 746w" sizes="(max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px" /></p>
<p>Both these devices are excellent for what they are, but there are some pretty big distinctions to be made between them. The Huawei MatePad Pro is more affordable, comes with a slew of extra accessories and features equally excellent specs all around.</p>
<p>Where the Apple iPad Pro takes the upper hand however is in the OS and software. Huawei&#8217;s version of Android 10 is heavily gimped compared to standard Android, and it&#8217;s not really even close between it and Apple&#8217;s iPad OS. iPad OS isn&#8217;t as good as MacOS, but it&#8217;s one of the best productivity UIs for touch devices.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-291347" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-matepad-pro.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1024" height="536" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-matepad-pro.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-matepad-pro-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-matepad-pro-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-matepad-pro-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/huawei-matepad-pro-802x420.jpg 802w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a good deal when it comes to pricing, the Huawei MatePad Pro is probably the better option, but for sheer productivity we feel that the iPad Pro is still the better choice.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-279511" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 30 Pro featured 02" width="1620" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02.jpg 1620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Huawei-Mate-30-Pro-featured-02-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>Huawei has shipped more than 7 million units of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-30-5g/">Mate 30</a> series globally in the past 60 days. Considering how Mate 30 is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/30/huawei-mate-30-pro-global-release-delayed/">still not available in most global markets</a>, this is a pretty big deal. What&#8217;s more, this also marks a staggering 75% YoY increase in shipments for the Mate series. It&#8217;s very likely that a majority of the units were shipped within China.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/22/huawei-nova-6-5g-promo-video-bares-it-all-with-respect-to-design/">Huawei Nova 6 5G promo video bares it all with respect to design</a></strong></h6>
<p>Richard Yu also revealed that its<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/19/huawei-watch-gt-2-unveiled-with-always-on-display-2-weeks-battery-life-and-more/"> Huawei Watch GT 2</a> is also doing well. <p>Accessory maker, Benks, also gives us a good look at the tablet with the promotional photos of the screen protector made for it. Another image shows a dummy of the tablet and lists some of the specs. Now we know the MatePad Pro will come with a 10.8-inch 2K display, the Kirin 990 processor, quad speakers, a stylus called the M-Pencil, and support for reverse wireless charging.</p>

<p>The deleted review says the M-Pencil weighs 14 grams, has 6 built-in gestures, 20ms low-latency, lasts 10 hours on a single charge and recharges in 1 hour. The tablet itself has a 7250mAh battery, a little smaller than that of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mediapad-m6-10-8/">MediaPad M6 10.8</a>.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/31/huawei-mediapad-m7-matepad-pro-render-reveals-its-punch-hole-display/">Previously seen renders of the MatePad Pro</a> had revealed that it will be coming to the market in black and white color editions. The new renders show that the tablet could be debuting in two more colors such as green and orange.</p>
<p>Rumors have it that it could be fueled by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-990">Kirin 990</a> chipset. It could be featuring 8 GB of RAM and its highest model may offer 256 GB of native storage. There is no word on the launch date of the phone. Probably, it may go official alongside the Nova 6 smartphone.</p>
