It was speculated that the new Premium Smart TV would be a rebrand of the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Mi-TV-5">Mi TV 5/5 Pro</a> that is retailing in China. However, the company has now clarified it in an interview with the Financial Express.</p>

<p>Eshwar Nilakantan, category lead for smart TVs at Xiaomi India, <a href="https://www.financialexpress.com/industry/technology/mi-qled-tv-4k-exclusive-details-about-xiaomis-upcoming-category-first-premium-smart-tv/2144838/">says</a> that all <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/QLED">QLED</a> TVs selling in the country will be &#8220;<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/make-in-india">Made In India</a>&#8220;. He says the company would wait for the right moment to bring anything and &#8220;never settle for low&#8221;. He might be referring to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/26/oneplus-tv-q1-oneplus-tv-q1-pro-launched-price/">OnePlus QLED Q1 TV</a> that failed to create a spark due to its pricing but it&#8217;s our guess. Additionally, the company confirms that the Mi QLED TV for India will be different from the Mi TV 5/5 Pro. He also says that 55-inch is an ideal size for most consumers hinting at the upcoming TV&#8217;s size.</p>
<p>Earlier when Xiaomi started teasing the TV launch, many of them <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/03/xiaomi-qled-mi-tv-launch-teaser-india/">including us guessed that</a> it would be a rebrand of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/05/mi-tv-5-pro-launched-china/">Mi TV 5/5 Pro from China</a>. However, an event page that has gone live recently indicates that the TV for India will have new features. This is a no-brainer as the company is trying to bring new products to a country where it has been leading since its inception in 2018.</p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/24/miui-for-tv-3-0-goes-live-and-here-are-the-new-key-features/">MIUI for TV 3.0 goes live and here are the new key features</a></strong></h6>
<p>In fact, it has lead the Smart TV segment <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/10/02/idc-xiaomi-is-the-leading-brand-in-indias-smart-tv-market/">just six months after its debut</a> in 2018, and later with a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/12/xiaomi-leads-smart-tv-market-india/">higher 33% share in 2019</a> as well. And it continues to do so in 2020. Precisely, Eshwar says that according to the upcoming Q3 2020 report, the company will be the No.1 Smart TV brand. This is in-line with a recent <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/12/xiaomi-sold-over-5-million-smart-tvs-india/">5 million Smart TV shipment milestone</a> in the country making it a king for 10-consecutive quarters.</p>
<p>Coming back, the report says the new QLED TV will be a spiritual successor to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/14/xiaomi-launches-mi-led-tv-4-55-india/">Mi TV 4 from 2018</a>. However, it will make a giant leap in display technology with the Quantum Dot LED panel. This, along with features HDR10+, 100% color volume(probably NTSC), and Dolby Vision for enhanced picture quality is a definite contender for the rivals.</p>
<p>Talking about the India specific variant, he says the company has delayed the launch of QLED TVs for nine months to fine-tune it for India. This further strengthens our earlier guess that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/29/xiaomi-mi-tv-patchwall-3-4-update/">Patchwall 3.4 with a new carousel, user center, Live TVs</a> could be pre-installed. Anyway, Eshwar hints at an aggressive pricing for QLED TV and confirms that Xiaomi will bring more QLED TVs to India in 2021.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> shared an image featuring Mi TV lineup&#8217;s key achievements in China last year. Mi TVs were the top-selling TVs in five major size segments in 2019: 32-inches, 43-inches, 50-inches, 65-inches, and 70-inches. The brand now has a market share of 19.25% in China. It was also the number 1 TV maker in China for four consecutive quarters.</p>
<p>Jiang Cong, the GM of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mi-tv">Xiaomi Mi TV</a> in China said that the brand&#8217;s success was driven by its Triathlon strategy that entails three components – Hardware, Internet Services, and New Retail. He added that with sales support, the Mi TV brand will be able to invest in better technology, picture quality and other keys areas of R&amp;D for superior quality TV models in the future.</p>

The company will soon add support for voiceprint on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/05/xiaomi-mi-tv-5-launched-china/">new Mi TV 5 models</a>. We don&#8217;t have an exact date for the update, but it should be rolled out soon.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-tv-5-launch.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-287613" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-tv-5-launch.jpg?x10805" alt="mi tv 5 launch" width="690" height="518" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-tv-5-launch.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-tv-5-launch-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-tv-5-launch-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-tv-5-launch-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/mi-tv-5-launch-559x420.jpg 559w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>Voiceprint will make Mi TV 5&#8217;s experience highly personal. With support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/voiceprint">voiceprint</a>, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mi-tv-5">Mi TV 5</a> will be able to recognize each user with his or her unique voice. Imagine a situation where you could call out to your TV and it would immediately recognize your profile and show up your personalized content and recommendations. Another good example is when you can simply say &#8216;continue with the previous video&#8217; and the TV will automatically playback the video that you were last playing. It&#8217;s just like a fingerprint profile but for voice.</p>
<p>The Mi TV 5 comes in regular and Pro variants, featuring 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage to ensure smooth performance. As usual, this new Smart TV from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> comes with the company’s own PatchWall user interface. It also comes with features like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dolby">Dolby</a> Audio and DTS HD Sound.</p>

The company is currently gearing up to release the new Mi TV 5 series in its home market on 5th November.</p>
<p>Ahead of its official launch, the company has been revealing details about the upcoming Smart TV. In the latest development, Xiaomi has now released details related to the design of the Mi TV 5.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-287286 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-5-Design-Details.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi TV 5 Design Details" width="690" height="920" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-5-Design-Details.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-5-Design-Details-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Xiaomi-Mi-TV-5-Design-Details-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>The company has now confirmed that the Mi TV 5 will come with a more comprehensive full-screen design. The bezel surrounding the screen panel will be 47.1 percent narrower compared to the Mi TV 4, measuring just 1.8mm.</p>
<p>Further, Xiaomi has revealed that the metal-body Smart TV will come with a integrated bending frame, back plate without screws, and will have a body thickness of just 5.9mm.</p>
<p>Earlier, the company had shed light about the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/31/xiaomi-mi-tv-5-key-specs-revealed/">specifications of the Mi TV 5</a>. It had revealed that the product will come powered by a 12nm T972 chipset with support for 8K video recording which is claimed to be 63 percent higher than the previous-generation CPU.</p>

Apart from its slim form factor, there isn’t much we can pick up from this image.</p>
<p>Along with this new Smart TV, the company is also set to launch a bunch of other products at the 5th November event in China, including Mi CC9 Pro smartphone, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/29/xiaomi-smartwatch-real-image-leak/">Xiaomi Smartwatch</a>, Xiaomi’s Mi Portable Air Conditioner, among others.</p>

Along with this, the TV is confirmed to feature <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/MEMC">MEMC</a> motion compensation technology. This isn&#8217;t exactly a new feature as Mi TVs in the past, like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/17/xiaomi-launches-premium-mi-tv-4x-series-and-mi-tv-4a-in-india/">Mi TV 4X 65-inch</a> have come with MEMC. After announcing the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/27/xiaomi-mi-tv-pro-goes-on-sale-in-china-55-inch-model-sold-out-in-a-flash/">Mi TV Pro lineup a few months ago</a>, Xiaomi is all set to release the new Mi TV 5 series on November 5. Today, the company has confirmed the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mi-tv-5">Mi TV 5</a> models will come with the premium Quantum Dot display panels from Samsung.</p>
<figure id="attachment_286114" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-286114" style="width: 690px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/mi-tv-5-quntum-dot-display.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-286114 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/mi-tv-5-quntum-dot-display.jpg?x10805" alt="mi tv 5 quantum dot display" width="690" height="920" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/mi-tv-5-quntum-dot-display.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/mi-tv-5-quntum-dot-display-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/mi-tv-5-quntum-dot-display-315x420.jpg 315w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-286114" class="wp-caption-text">mi tv 5 quantum dot display teaser</figcaption></figure>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/29/this-is-the-xiaomi-smartwatch-its-heavily-inspired-by-the-apple-watch/">This is the Xiaomi SmartWatch; it&#8217;s HEAVILY inspired by the Apple Watch</a></strong></h6>
<p>The Mi TV 5 series will use a 4K <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/QLED">QLED</a> panel covering NTSC 108% wide color gamut. The Quantum Dot panel is likely to be supplied by Samsung who dominates this industry. The current generation Mi TV 4 series comes with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/18/xiaomi-unveils-70-mi-tv-4a-with-xiaoai-built-in/">either LCD or LED panels</a>, so with the Mi TV 5 series, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> is looking to enter the premium segment.</p>
<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s shift to Quantum Dot LEDs isn&#8217;t surprising. The recently launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/26/oneplus-tv-q1-oneplus-tv-q1-pro-launched-price/">OnePlus TV also features Samsung&#8217;s premium QLED</a> panels. So, the Mi TV maker is trying to jump into the premium segment with its new generation models. In fact, a r<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/15/could-xiaomi-be-planning-to-take-on-oneplus-in-the-premium-tv-segment/">ecent survey from one of the Xiaomi executives</a> had already given us a glimpse of Xiaomi&#8217;s intentions. Unfortunately, we don&#8217;t have any more information on the upcoming TVs.</p>

<p>Xiaomi has launched a few premium TV models in the past such as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2016/03/24/xiaomis-65-inch-curved-tv-pictures/">Mi TV curved 65&#8243;</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/23/xiaomi-mi-mural-tv-65-inch-wallpaper-official/">Mi Wallpaper TV</a>.</p>

The blogger had asked when the next-generation Mi TV will be launched since the year s drawing to an end. The Xiaomi exec is said to have hinted that the <strong>Mi TV 5</strong> will be released in no distant time, specifically, within a month.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mi-tv-pro-3.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-277481" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mi-tv-pro-3.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi TV Pro" width="687" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mi-tv-pro-3.png 687w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/xiaomi-mi-tv-pro-3-300x169.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px" /></a></p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a title="Realme X2 Pro hands-on pictures: A sleek and powerful flagship for a steal!" href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/18/realme-x2-pro-hands-on-pictures-a-sleek-and-powerful-flagship-for-a-steal/" rel="bookmark">Realme X2 Pro hands-on pictures: A sleek and powerful flagship for a steal!</a></strong></h6>
<p>If we are to take Li&#8217;s statement literally, it implies that the Mi TV 5 will be released before November 19 and that is likely to be in China. IT Homes quotes an inside source to have said that the Mi TV 5 will be released before 11.11 (November 11). Interestingly, there has been virtually no indication of a new-generation Mi TV coming. The company recently launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/24/xiaomi-mi-tv-pro-with-support-for-8k-content-launched-in-china/">Mi TV Pro</a> but apart for the 8K support, the TV isn&#8217;t too spectacular.</p>

<p>Xiaomi continues to rank as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/28/xiaomi-tv-now-number-one-tv-brand-in-china-india-operation-also-soars/">number one smart TV brand in China and even in India</a>. According to data released by Aowei.com, the firm shipped a total of 5.4 million smart TV units in the first half of 2019. This represents a year-on-year increase of 64.9%. It may interest you to note that the Chinese giant <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/04/23/xiaomi-mi-tv-outsells-competitors-with-8-4-million-shipments-in-2018/">shipped 8.4 million units in 2018</a>. So, this year&#8217;s shipment will likely be higher and Xiaomi will want to rejig sales with a new-gen Mi TV 5. Xiaomi TV&#8217;s GM recently conducted a Weibo survey which suggested <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/15/could-xiaomi-be-planning-to-take-on-oneplus-in-the-premium-tv-segment/">the company was planning to take on the premium TV segment</a> similar to what OnePlus did with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/09/26/oneplus-tv-q1-oneplus-tv-q1-pro-launched-price/">OnePlus TV Q1 models</a>. So could we see Xiaomi launch a QLED TV this year? Let&#8217;s keep our fingers crossed.</p>
