The body is water repellent and the bezels around the display are very narrow. I also like the presence of a rear camera placed directly in the rear cover, without a dedicated camera module. The Redmi Pad is built with a plastic back and an aluminum frame, it comes with narrow bezels around the display just like the Motorola, but it has a big and pretty ugly camera module on the rear side. On the other hand, it is a thinner tablet, even though it packs a bigger battery, and you should appreciate this, given that the dimensions of these devices are more or less the same. Do you prefer having a thinner tablet or a beautiful one?

Display

One of the most important advantages of the Redmi Pad over the other affordable tablets is definitely the display. It is an IPS LCD panel, so you should not expect those vivid colors and those deep blacks you can usually find on OLED panels. But it is still a great display: we are talking about a panel with a 10.61-inch diagonal that is able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate (allowing for a smoother viewing experience), and a typical brightness of 400 nits. If you choose the Redmi Pad, you can actually achieve a longer battery life because this tablet has a bigger battery, with a capacity of 8000 mAh (instead of just 7700 mAh found on the Motorola Moto Tab G62). On the other hand, the Motorola charges quicker thanks to 20W fast charging.

Price

The starting price of the Redmi Pad roughly translates into €250/$250 for the base configuration with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, while you need about €200/$200 to purchase the Motorola Moto Tab G62 in the 4/64 GB memory configuration. The Redmi Pad wins the comparison.

In early October, Xiaomi released the first tablet under the Redmi brand. The device is aptly named Redmi Pad.

It is currently the best-value budget Android tablet in almost all the markets where it is available. We even explained the reason behind it.

In India, it is priced at ₹14,999, ₹14,999, and ₹14,999 for 3GB + 64GB, 4GB +  128GB, and 6GB + 128GB memory configurations, respectively. 

The tablet has multiple competitors in the country. But only three of them can be considered a good alternative.

However, before going through the competition, let’s check out what the Redmi Pad has to offer.

The Redmi Pad sports a metal unibody design. It flaunts a 10.61-inch 10-bit display (LCD) with a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA+) and up to a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen comes with 220 PPI and 400 nits peak brightness level.

Like most tablets, this one is also TÜV Rheinland-certified for low blue light emission. Additionally, it is the world’s first tablet to be certified by SGS for low visual fatigue.

Further, the device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It boots MIUI for Pad, which is an optimized version of MIUI for tablets. Xiaomi promises 2 Android and MIUI updates each and 3 years of security updates.

The tablet arrives with Dolby Atmos-supported quad speakers, an 8MP rear camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, and a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 1TB). On the connectivity front, it offers dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB Type-C.

Last but not least, it is backed by an 8,000mAh battery with support for 18W wired charging.

The Best Redmi Pad Alternatives in India

Oppo Pad Air

Software is one of the key highlights of the Redmi Pad. This is the case with Oppo Pad Air as well. It boots ColorOS for Pad, an optimized version of ColorOS for tablets. Unlike the Redmi Pad, the Oppo Pad Air can also be used with phones and Windows PC for productivity via PC Connect.

Further, it has a capable chip in the form of Qualcomm Snapdragon 680. However, the battery is smaller and so is the display. But there’s support for a stylus, which is sold separately.

The tablet is priced at ₹16,999 and ₹19,999 for 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB memory configurations, respectively.

Motorola Moto Tab G62

For some reason, if you want a near-stock Android on a tablet and good hardware in the budget segment, then the Motorola Moto Tab G62 is probably the best option.

Just like the Oppo Pad Air, it is also powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC. However, it sports an almost same-sized display as the Redmi Pad and even comes in a cellular (LTE) variant.

Moreover, its battery is only slightly smaller at 7,700mAh and there’s support for faster 20W wired charging.

The WiFi-only variant of the Moto Tab G62 is priced at ₹15,999, whereas the WiFi + LTE version costs ₹17,999. Both models arrive with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A8

The Galaxy Tab A8 also ships with customized software for tablets. In fact, Samsung’s tablet software can be considered the best on Android.

However, the device houses a slower Unisoc T618 chipset. Also, it is backed by a smaller battery (7,040mAh) than the other two alternatives as well as the Redmi Pad, in addition to having the slowest charging speed (15W).

If you are looking for the best image quality, you should go for the OPPO Pad Air. It has an IPS LCD display, so nothing particularly amazing because the best displays are OLED. But it is able to show up to one billion colors, so you can get good color accuracy. The display has a diagonal of 10.36 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels and, as already mentioned, it supports the stylus. The display of the Motorola Moto G62 is inferior in terms of image quality, but it is a bigger panel, with a diagonal of 10.6 inches. The Realme Pad has an inferior Helio G80 chipset by MediaTek built with a 12 nm production process and with an octa-core architecture composed of two Cortex A75 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, and a Mali G52 MC2 GPU. However, you can get a better memory configuration with the Realme Pad: up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage, while the Motorola Moto Tab G62 gets just 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage. So plot twist: the Realme tablet is more interesting in terms of hardware. But there is another plot twist: the Motorola Moto Tab G62 runs Android 12 out of the box, while the Realme Pad ships with Android 11.

The Realme Pad and the Motorola Moto Tab G62 are very similar when it comes to camera performance. If you want to make a choice, you need to ask yourself whether you want an ultrawide rear camera or an ultrawide front camera. Motorola is gearing up to introduce a new tablet in the Indian market soon. The device dubbed the Moto Tab G62 has been confirmed to debut on August 17. Ahead of the launch, the company has revealed the looks of the slate along with its features via a Flipkart listing.

Now, the tablet has appeared on the Geekbench database, giving us an idea of its performance. So, let’s take a look.

The XT2261-2 model number for the soon-to-be-released Motorola Moto Tab G62 is listed on the Geekbench database. It has an octa-core processor with four cores operating at 2.4GHz and the remaining four cores clocked at 19GHz. This is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC which has an Adreno 610 GPU on board.

The device has been listed as having 4GB of RAM on Geekbench. The Tab G62 will come pre-installed with Android 12 as far as software is concerned. Coming to performance, the tablet scores 311 points in the single-core test and 1304 points in the multi-core test of Geekbench 5.

Yesterday, Motorola unveiled the Moto G32 smartphone in India. Tomorrow (Aug. 11), the company will be unveiling the Moto G62 5G in the country. Now, the brand has confirmed that it will unveil the Moto Tab G62 in the country on Aug. 17.

The Moto Tab G62’s landing page is now live on Flipkart. The listing revealed the design as well as the key specifications of the device. The images of the tablet show that it has narrow bezels on the front and a metallic back with a dual-tone design. It will have one camera on the back, a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB-C port, and quad speakers that support Dolby Atmos.

Moto Tab G62 specifications

The Moto Tab G62 will come with a 10.6-inch IPS LCD panel that will offer a 2K resolution. It will come preinstalled with Android 12 OS, which will offer features like a special reading mode, Google Kids Space, an Entertainment Space, support for multiple accounts, and stylus support.

Motorola, the company which makes entry-level and mid-range smartphones, also made a comeback in the tablet segment last year. Now, the company appears to be preparing to launch another tablet in the market.

A new Moto Tab G62 from the company has been spotted with a decent set of specifications for the mid-range category but the details about launch and availability remain unknown.

The upcoming Motorola Tab G62 has been on the Google Play Console listing, revealing some of the key specifications of the device. It will come with a display that offers 1200 x 2000 pixels screen resolution.

This is the same resolution as the Moto Tab G70 and in that case, but instead of the 11-inch screen of the Tab G70, this new tablet is expected to have a 9.7-inch display.

Under the hood, the device will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 for the Wi-Fi-only model while the 4G LTE model will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, both of which are about three years old chips.

The tablet is expected to pack 4GB of RAM in terms of memory and in the software department, the device will be running the Android 12 operating system with the company’s own custom user interface on top.

We expect to know more about this Motorola Tab G62 tablet in the coming weeks, including information about the specifications, features, pricing, and availability.

Motorola is set to announce a new tablet in the market soon. The company has previously launched Moto Tab G series models in the past, and now, it appears that another new model will be joining its tablet portfolio.

According to a MySmartPrice report, the new Moto Tab G62 might be released soon, as the upcoming Android tablet was spotted in Google Play Supported Devices website. Notably, the listing on the Google database also confirmed its official Tab G62 moniker and its model number XT2261-1 and XT2261-2. The former is the 4G enabled version, while the latter is the LTE only model.

Unfortunately, apart from its name and model number, no other details regarding the tablet was shared. So, its unknown what specifications and features the Tab G62 will launch with as of right now. Although, based on its name, it will likely sit somewhere between the two previously launched Motorola tablets, namely the Moto Tab G20 and Tab G70. For those unaware, the Tab G70 was the company’s high end tablet that was launched in India.

It sports a large 11 inch display that had a 2K resolution. Under the hood, the tablet was equipped with a MediaTek Helio G90T and was powered by a large 7,700mAh battery pack that supported 20W fast charging out of the box. The tablet ran on Android 11 OS and even offered a quad speaker system that supported Dolby Atmos. So, we can expect somewhat similar and possibly even watered down specifications on the Tab G62.
