Xiaomi has just updated its EOS list and added a couple of new smartphones. This means that the company has basically ended the software support for some Redmi and a Poco phones. So let’s have a look.

Looking at the EOS list, the Chinese tech giant is ending the support life for the Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, Redmi K30 5G, and even the POCO X2 smartphone models. For those unaware, the EOS list basically signifies that your device has reached the end of its official support from the company. This means that it will eventually become outdated and will have a risk involved since it no longer receives any security patch updates. So by this time, it is typically recommended to upgrade to a newer model.

And as of just yesterday, the POCO X2, Redmi K30, Redmi K30 5G, Redmi 8, and Redmi 8A have been added to this list. So they will no longer receive any form of software support from Xiaomi. While many POCO X2 users had been waiting for the MIUI 13 update, it is clear that this will never be the case and there are no plans for an update at the moment. For those unaware, the stable MIUI 13 build was tested on this phone back in April 2022, although the company did not release this update due to various bugs and other issues.

So for those that want to have an up to date handset model that is also not vulnerable to potential security risk, buying a new phone is the best option. This doesn’t mean that the aforementioned phones are immediately at risk, but over time they are much more vulnerable than phones that are still being supported by the brand.

POCO X2 is the first smartphone from the company after it was spun off as an independent brand under Xiaomi Corporation. It is nothing but a rebranded Redmi K30 4G. Hence, it is also the first rebadged handset from POCO. Nearly one and a half years from its release, the device is now receiving MIUI 12.5 update.

MIUI 12.5 is the latest version of Xiaomi’s mobile software. It was unveiled at the Mi 11 launch event at the end of December 2020. However, the company started rolling out stable builds only in late March 2021.

The Redmi K30 4G got this update in June. A month later, the update is now being seeded to POCO X2 in India. It arrives with build number V12.5.1.0.RGHINXM.

At the moment, the MIUI 12.5 update for POCO X2 is only available for a select few users. Because the software build is labeled as ‘Stable Beta’. In simpler words, it is being rolled out in batches and should reach all users in the coming days.

The POCO X2 debuted with MIUI 11 based on Android 10. The device was updated to MIUI 12 last year. It even received the Android 11 update earlier this year. Since the handset is less than two years old, it should also get the MIUI 13 update in the future.

There have been multiple complaints from owners of the POCO X2 about the rear camera. The manufacturer has now announced a way for users to fix the issue themselves.

In a press statement shared on Twitter, the official POCO India account said the camera issue has been reported by less than 0.2% of the total population. Nevertheless, they apologize to those affected. Below is the procedure to follow to fix the issue:

1. Clean Camera app data – to do this, Open Settings > Search Manage apps > Search Camera > Clear Data > Clear all data
2. Reboot the phone
3. Check if the camera is working

The solution may not work for everyone and POCO knows that which is why it has asked those who still face the issue to report it on the Services and Feedback app and upload the device logs under the camera section. The Services and Feedback app is amongst the pre-installed apps and can be found in the app drawer.

After this has been done, users can visit the nearest service center or POCO India support with the feedback generated ID they got from the Feedback and Services app. The manufacturer also advises that users make an appointment before visiting a service center. Executives at the center will be able to fix the camera issue for the affected user.

POCO also revealed in the memo that they have learned of a few users who are trying to intentionally brick the camera so as to receive a free replacement unit. It says this affects its ability to provide support for genuinely affected customers.

At the very beginning of this year, Xiaomi surprised the Redmi K30 4G users in China with Android 11 update. A couple of weeks later, the device’s Indian Version, POCO X2 is getting the latest OS update.

POCO X2 users in India will get a new MIUI 12.1 version update with firmware version 12.1.2.0.RGHINXM. This update not only bundles a few bug fixes, security patches but also includes stable Android 11. It reportedly weighs 2.6GB and is currently rolling out to the device via OTA(Over-The-Air) update.

As mentioned above, the update also brings the latest January 2021 security patch along with it. You can take a look at the changelog below:

With this, POCO X2 becomes the first POCO in India to get the Android 11 update. As for the Global tally, we already have the POCO F2 Pro running on a stable version. This is not the only first for the X2 in India. Back in August, it became the first smartphone in India to get the MIUI 12 update.

Now that POCO has checked the year-old X2 update mark, it’s next target should be the budget devices POCO M2 Pro, and its sibling POCO M2 in the country.

Anyway, the new update also fixes a critical creaking noise bug that occurred in certain screen-off scenarios. Xiaomi was part of the official Android 11 Beta program. Hence, the company was one of the first to start rolling out stable update to its devices. Currently, a handful of phones from the firm are already on Android 11 stable worldwide. Now, Redmi K30 4G has also joined this elite list of smartphones running the latest version of Android.

For those unaware, the Redmi K30 4G started receiving MIUI weekly builds based on Android 11 back in late October. However, it took Xiaomi over two months to deliver the first stable build for this device.

That said, the update comes with build number V12.1.3.0.RGHCNXM and brings the December 2020 security patch apart from the newest version of Android. It is currently in the Stable Beta phase and therefore, it is only available to select users.

Also, since the Redmi K30 4G is exclusive to China, it only has a single variant of the software build. Hence, if you have imported this handset, you should also get the update as soon as the build’s availability has been extended.

On the other hand, this very same phone is also sold as POCO X2 in India. Since both of them share everything unlike the other POCO devices that are slightly different, it should also receive the Android 11 update very soon.

The most advanced Android version yet, Android 11 will be in several devices from the stables of Chinese phone maker, Xiaomi. The models include the stock Android-running Mi A3, a recent report has shown. The Mi A3 is Xiaomi’s only Android One handset that is eligible for Android 11, as some others like the Mi A1, Mi A2, and Mi A2 Lite have already received two OS upgrades. Other devices on the scheduled lineup for Android 11 upgrade are the global Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

The report by Xiaomi & MIUI News on Telegram (via), already cited by several industry watchers also published a list of Xiaomi devices that would receive Android 11, which was already being expected.

The Mi A3 is obviously one of the smartphones that Xiaomi will be upgrading, as sources have confirmed that it has successfully completed internal testing of the new OS. It is highly improbable that there will be any further upgrade of the phone after this OS upgrade as Xiaomi released it on Android 9.0 Pie in 2019. The Mi A3 is a very unique smartphone and it is likely to be the only one to receive Android 11 on the Android One program. No more major updates are available for the Mi A1, Mi A2, and Mi A2 Lite, for example, and the company hasn’t released another Android One-branded phone after the berthing of the Mi A3.

The 12 handsets that are next in line for Android 11 OS include the Mi 10 Lite Zoom, Mi 10 Youth, Mi A3, Mi CC9 Pro, Mi Note 10, and Mi Note 10 Pro. Others are the Poco M2 Pro, Poco X2, Redmi K30, Redmi K30i 5G, Redmi Note 9 Pro Global, and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

The exact date for the planned upgrade is not yet clear, but following recent trends of upgrades by Xiaomi, it is suggested that it is most likely to be within a month or thereabout.

India’s largest online retailer Flipkart held its biggest sale recently called Big Billion Days. A number of new products like Pixel 4a and Galaxy F41 launched on the occasion of this sale. Above all, some of the popular as well as old devices like LG G8X ThinQ and iPhones were discounted heavily. That said, now as the sale has ended, POCO has officially announced that it sold over a million smartphones during this period.

Earlier this year, POCO was spun-off into an independent brand under the Xiaomi Group. In India, its devices are sold exclusively on Flipkart. The brand currently sells the following five handsets in the country.

• POCO X2
• POCO X3
• POCO M2 Pro
• POCO M2
• POCO C3

All the above-mentioned smartphones were discounted except for the latest POCO X3. Buyers were also able to avail additional bank discounts.

These phones are highly recommended by media houses even at their launch prices. With discounts, they flew off the shelves that  POCO managed to sell above a million (10 lakh) units of them during the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale that ran from October 16-21, as per the brand’s internal data.

Having said that, all the new POCO-branded smartphones launched so far (except POCO X3) are rebadged Redmi devices with slightly better configuration and cheaper price tags. We hope the brand to soon release phones with original design starting next year.

Xiaomi is the only Android OEM to provide weekly beta software builds for its smartphones. These builds allow users to experience new features before they are released to the general public. Currently, the beta program is limited to China as Xiaomi shut down the global beta program last year.

Just like new features, the latest Android version is first introduced in this channel. It has been more than a month since Google officially released Android 11. But already a plethora of Xiaomi smartphones like Mi 10, Mi 10 Ultra, Redmi K30 Pro, Mi CC9 Pro, Redmi K30 5G, and Mi 10 Youth Edition have been receiving weekly MIUI beta builds based on Android 11.

Now, Redmi K20 and Redmi K30 4G also join this list. These two smartphones received their first Android 11-based MIUI 12 weekly beta build today. Their upcoming builds will be also based on the latest version of Android.

Normally, it means that these two handsets (including POCO X2 which is a rebranded Redmi K30 4G) should be receiving Android 11 stable update very soon. However, it is not the case this year as Xiaomi has become slower in rolling out the Android 11 update compared to Anroid 10.

The flagship Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are yet to receive any stable build. Same goes for Redmi K30 Pro whose predecessor Redmi K20 Pro was one of the first phones to receive Android 10 stable update in 2019.

Hece, even though the above mentioned devices are continuously receiving MIUI 12 weekly beta builds based on Android 11, we cannot guarantee if they will receive the stable update sooner.

POCO is an independent brand since officially announcing it during early 2020. Once a sub-brand of Xiaomi, it debuted with the legendary POCO F1 in 2018 but became inactive for the whole of 2019. However, it came back with the POCO X2 which was a rebranded version of Redmi K30 in China. Since then, the company has been borrowing a few models from Redmi and relaunching it under POCO branding. Amidst a lot of criticism, Deputy Director of POCO, Anuj Sharma has explained to Indian Express the reasons for rebranding devices.

First off, Anuj says the rebranded POCO phones are better versions of Redmi devices. And, offer more value for the money. While he didn’t exactly mention how better they are, we have to agree on the value preposition part. For instance, Redmi launched the Note 9 pro with an 18W adapter in-box but included 33W in the “Max” variant. However, POCO M2 Pro which is a rebranded Note 9 Pro included a 33W charger in-box. And a Z-axis vibration motor at the same price as Note 9 Pro(₹13,999).

Besides, Anuj believes that POCO is a new brand and hence, it is difficult to design and develop phones on its own. This gives a clear cut explanation of why POCO currently uses resources from Xiaomi like factories, services, and MIUI. Further, he says that other brands like realme, OnePlus have also launched rebranded devices in the past. He also quotes that devices like OnePlus One and Realme’s first smartphone were rebranded versions of Oppo devices.

He goes onto say that POCO will follow the same strategy in the future. Also, the company is in no mood to develop a software version on its own and will continue with Xiaomi’s MIUI. For the unaware, POCO currently has X, M, C, and flagship F series of devices. The budget X, M, C, has rebranded devices like POCO X2(Redmi K30 China), POCO M2 Pro(Redmi Note 9 Pro), POCO M2(Redmi 9), POCO C3(Redmi 9C China).

Xiaomi has been rolling out MIUI 12 in both beta and stable channels to the eligible devices in China since its announcement in late April. Lately, the global variants of supported handsets also begun to receive stable update including POCO F2 Pro. Now, POCO X2 becomes the first POCO-branded smartphone in India to join this bandwagon.

The MIUI 12 stable update for POCO X2 comes with build number V12.0.1.0.QGHINXM and weighs 813MB in size. Since Mi Community India has been disabled, users of the handset who got the update shared the good news on Twitter.

Going by the tweets and replies on Twitter, only a few users have received it so far. If these users don’t face any problem, we expect the company to seed it out to more units.

The Xiaomi Mi 8, which is identical to POCO F1 received the MIUI 12 stable update in China last week. Therefore, we expected the original POCO smartphone to get the update this week but that did not happen.

Anyway, since the X2 has got the update, we believe the company will soon roll it out to F1 and the latest POCO M2 Pro in the coming days. Also, except the brand’s first phone, the latter two, F2 Pro, and the upcoming C3 are also eligible for Android 11.

After more than a year’s absence from the smartphone market, Poco made a comeback earlier in 2020 with its Poco X2. While the X2 wasn’t a direct successor to the incredibly popular Poco F1, it still had big shoes to fill. Poco fans have always been extraordinarily demanding, and even with competent specs, it was always going to be tough to meet their expectations. 

Poco’s answer was to take help from its big brother – Redmi. So Poco X2 launched in India as a rebranded Redmi K30 4G model from China. This made sense since the K30 was an extremely value for money deal, and it would allow Poco to price it aggressively in India without building a phone from scratch. 

Poco has been releasing rebadged models ever since, with the two models after the X2, namely the Poco F2 Pro and Poco M2 Pro being the rebranded Redmi K30 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 9 (EU) models respectively. But today, I won’t go into the ethics of rebadging models. Instead, my focus is to review the Poco X2 and judge it as an independent model. 

I have been using the X2 for the past few weeks as my daily driver, and here’s my review of the device.

You might have already noticed above that the phone doesn’t come with a screen protector installed, so you’ll have to buy it separately. Here are some good ones if you are interested. 

POCO X2 Design

The Poco X2 comes with a familiar design, mainly because it’s a rebranded Redmi K30. So you have a glossy glass back with a pill-shaped camera setup and dual-selfie shooters upfront.

The Glass sandwich design features Gorilla Glass 5 on the front as well as the back, with a plastic frame for support. There’s no denying that the Poco X2 is a heavy smartphone. It weighs 208 grams, making it heavier than some of the top flagships in the market like the OnePlus 8 and the Huawei P40. But you get a large 4500mAh large battery and a premium glass sandwich design to justify this weight. And in its defense, most of its direct rivals such as the Realme 6 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max are heavy phones. 

The smooth glass at the back and its weight can increase the chances of accidental drops. So I would highly recommend you to protect the phone with a case – the one provided in the box should be good enough for most people. Honestly, having a case on this phone gives me the confidence to be carefree. Even with Gorilla Glass 5 on top, a typical glass sandwich design doesn’t take drops very well – unlike say plastic or a metal phone (my Pixel 2 XL has a few dents here and there but they are hardly visible). 

The glass back picks up a few fingerprints, but it’s pretty easy to clean. Also, despite the protruding camera bump, its centered placement ensures the phone doesn’t wobble when placed on the table.  

I’ve got the Matrix Purple color variant and it looks pretty unique. But personally I’m not a fan of this purple as it can look quite dull at times. If I had to choose, I would go for its Atlantis Blue color.

The Poco X2 comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor (that’s also its power button) on its right side. The fingerprint recognition is quick and accurate, and I find this sensor placement more convenient than other solutions. The volume buttons are on the same side. 

The left side of the phone houses the hybrid dual SIM card slot. At the bottom, you get a single speaker, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microphone opening. On top, you have an IR sensor with a microphone hole. 

As for the front, the Poco X2 features a 6.67-inch LCD flat display with dual punch-hole cameras on the top right corner. The screen is good for its price (I will talk more about in the next section), but the dual selfie cameras on the top can be a bit bothersome as it stands out quite significantly. However, MIUI has a couple of solutions to fix this issue – including an option to darken the status bar, thereby hiding the cameras. 

To conclude, I’m not a fan of Poco X2’s design or the Matrix Purple color. However, the phone looks polished and has a comfortable grip. So even if the design isn’t its strong point, you shouldn’t have any significant complaints. 

Poco X2 Display

The Poco X2’s biggest highlight is its display. The 6.67-inch RealityFlow FHD+ LCD panel on the device supports up to 120Hz refresh rate. This display is snappier than most other 60Hz and 90Hz LCD smartphones in its price segment. 

The saturation levels on the LCD panel are good, and support for HDR10 ensures you get punchy colors while streaming. At 500 nits, the Poco X2’s display is bright too, even under direct sunlight. The auto-brightness feature also worked pretty well, so I rarely had to adjust it manually. 

You also get a couple of color calibration options for the display, but since this is an LCD screen, the colors won’t pop out as well as an AMOLED panel. There’s an auto mode that chooses the best color profile for the screen, and I’ve been using that mode for the past few weeks without any real complaints. 

That said, I did notice the occasional jitters while scrolling through in the UI. So the software needs a few more tweaks to perfect the high refresh rate screen. 

Also, the dual punch-hole camera setup on the top right corner feels a bit invasive. If you look closely, you’ll see that these are two separate cameras in a pill-shaped enclosure. The phone adds a black background to manifest its integrated look. 

There are some workarounds for this though. You can hide the punch-hole cameras using software (from the notch & status bar option inside the display settings), which darkens the status bar, thereby hiding the cameras.

Even with the hide notch setting enabled, the Poco X2 offers a satisfying viewing experience,  all thanks to the minimal bezels around the display. Plus, with full-Screen gestures enabled, you get additional screen real estate at the bottom. 

Poco X2 Performance

The Poco X2 is powered by the 8nm Snapdragon 730G processor with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The review unit with me is the top-end version, and in this age of streaming, you’ll find it hard to fill up this storage. But if you do end up using up all the available memory, you can use a MicroSD card for storage expansion. The phone comes with a hybrid memory SIM card slot, so you can always add a MicroSD card in one of the hybrid nanoSIM card slots.  

The UI performance is also pretty fluid. 120Hz refresh rate translates into smoother animations and scrolling, but you do see occasional jitters. It looks like the UI struggles to handle the high refresh rate sometimes. However, it’s not significant, and further software optimizations could likely eliminate them. 

I’ll also try to address the big old question about whether you can spot the difference between a 120Hz and 60Hz display. The short answer is yes! Scrolling is visibly smoother, and you will also notice that the animations are fluid. 

However, once your eyes get used to the refresh rate, be it 60Hz or 120Hz, you won’t comprehend the difference. Also, I feel a 90Hz refresh rate option in the settings would have been the sweet spot between fluid performance and battery life. But unfortunately, Poco only offers a standard 60Hz and a high 120Hz refresh rate option in the display settings. 

Benchmarks

The benchmark scores are pretty much what you’d expect from a Snapdragon 730G phone.

For some reason, graphic centric benchmarks like GFXBench and 3DMark failed to run on the device.

Editor’s Pick: Chip Battle: Snapdragon 730G vs Snapdragon 720G

Note that the Snapdragon 730G inside the phone is a gaming chipset. So the phone performs pretty well even in graphic intensive scenarios like gaming. 

The phone handles COD Mobile, PUBG, and games like Mario Kart without any significant hiccups. You can hit 90 fps on COD and PUBG, and the gameplay is smooth in the medium graphics settings. 

POCO X2 Battery 

The Poco X2 is equipped with a 4500mAh battery that charges at a maximum wattage of 27W. While on paper, this might feel slower than the likes of the 40W Huawei SuperCharge or the 125W OPPO SuperVOOC, but in reality, it still translates into a hassle-free, fast charging experience. 

The Poco X2 charges up to 25% from 0% (dead battery) in 15 minutes. In half an hour, the phone is topped up to 50%, and it takes slightly over an hour to charge up to 100%. Again, I ‘ll reiterate that on paper, this might not look fast, but for a phone that can last an entire day on a single charge, you won’t likely be ever worried about its charging speed. 

In my test, an hour of Netflix drained slightly less than 10% of the battery on Wi-Fi and around 10% on mobile data. And with moderate usage, you’ll easily get 6 hours of screen on time on 120Hz. Bring that down to 60Hz and the Poco X2 will be your companion for another day.

Simply put, the Poco X2 has an all-day battery. So even though it’s a bit heavy, you know that the weight is being put to good use. 

Poco X2 Software

The Poco X2 came with stable Android 10 out of the box with the Poco launcher on top. The phone has received several updates since I started using it. It was initially running MIUI 11.0.4 based on Android 10 with the January security patch. But currently, it’s got the MIUI 11.0.10 stable update with the Android 10 and April 2020 security patch. 

As mentioned above, apart from the occasional jitters while scrolling, the UI is responsive and useful. You do get a bunch of pre-installed software on the device – just like any other MIUI smartphone. But you can easily uninstall third-party apps like Facebook and Messenger. Note that Xiaomi’s apps like Mi Pay, Mi Video, etc. cannot be uninstalled from the device. 

You also get a system-wide dark mode which I personally like.

While MIUI is not one of my favorite UIs, it still has a lot of customization options to tweak the phone according to your liking. So if you don’t like something, you can easily customize it. 

Poco X2 Camera

The Poco X2 features a versatile camera setup led by a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor with 0.8μm pixels, PDAF, and f/1.89 aperture. There are three more camera sensors with different functions. The 8MP Ultrawide camera comes with f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree FoV, the 2MP f/2.4 macro camera is ideal for close up shots (2-10cm), and there’s a 2MP portrait camera too. Note that the phone doesn’t have OIS, so it relies on software-based stabilization. 

Main Camera 64MP – 16MP binned

In the regular mode, you get 16MP binned photos, which are pretty sharp and colorful. The Poco X2 doesn’t try to oversaturate the images and gives you colors that are pretty close to real life. If you are used to saturated photos, X2’s samples might come off as a bit dull, but note that you’d be getting life-like colors in them. 

The dynamic range is good and the phone manages the dark as well as shadow areas pretty well. When there’s ample light, the Poco X2 delivers crisp photos with good colors. 

But in some cases – like that of landscapes, you might feel the 16MP binned photos don’t have enough details. In such situations, you can simply switch to the 64MP ultra HD mode for landscapes. 

64MP mode

The 64MP mode captures significantly more details than the regular photo mode. This is especially true when the image has a lot of data, like in the case of landscapes. You can clearly see the difference in the image quality between the two modes, and I would recommend switching to 64MP whenever you are taking a landscape shot. 

Didn’t I say this mode took significantly more details? So it’s not surprising that the resulting images are considerably larger too. So expect the 64MP samples to be around 40-50Mb for landscapes while the regular 16MP binned samples are only around 10Mb for the same image. 

Also, note that in most scenarios, the dynamic range was better on the 16MP camera samples than the 64MP ones. 

Ultra-Wide Camera 

The 120-degree Ultra Wide Angle camera is also pretty useful on the Poco X2. Under ample sunlight, you get a decent amount of details. So you can take really wide samples that bring in more objects into your frame, which wouldn’t have been possible with the regular lens. 

However, the 8MP ultrawide camera is not as sharp as the 64MP shooter. The samples taken from the UW camera had fewer details. Even the colors were a bit muted.

Macro Camera

The macro camera is often a gimmick on some phones, but on the Poco X2, it turned out to be a fun feature. You can go really close to the object (as close as 2cm) to take snaps of objects. It might take a few tries to master the macro mode, but once you figure out the basics, the Poco X2’s macro camera can output detailed and saturated shots. Note that as with other macro cameras, you have to be very steady to capture clear shots of your object. 

Portrait

The portrait mode on the Poco X2 is pretty decent with relatively accurate edge detection. It may not be the best in the market, but it’s good enough for your bokeh shots on social media. You can also adjust the level of blur in real-time – giving you more control over your shots. 

You also get a well equipped Pro mode on the device for enthusiasts who would like to tinker the camera settings for the perfect shot.

Night

The quality of the images becomes considerably lower when the lighting goes down. This isn’t surprising given most cheap mid-range phone cameras struggle with low lighting conditions. However, you’ll find the 16MP binned as well as the 64MP mode to be usable. The night mode does an excellent job of brightening the image but still struggles with details. The ultra-wide-angle mode, unsurprisingly, performs the worst among the other three modes with visibly less detail and sharpness.

Video 

The Poco X2 can shoot videos up to 4K 30 fps. So you get crisp and saturated videos which are well stabilized too, thanks to EIS. However, note that EIS is disabled for 60fps 1080p video shooting. So the resulting video in this resolution can be quite shaky. But in all other modes, including 4K 30fps (there’s no 60fps mode in 4K on the X2), the EIS kicks in and does a fine job at producing shake-free videos. 

Poco X2 Final Verdict: Should you buy it?

The Poco X2 is a well-balanced smartphone in the mid-range segment in India. The phone doesn’t try to overdo in any particular segment and hits all the right spots. It has got a good screen, a capable camera, and a long-lasting battery. 

Even after the recent price hike, the Poco X2 offers incredible value for your money. Sure, there are other competent smartphones in this price segment (like the Realme 6 Pro or the Redmi Note 9 Pro), but the phone’s incredible aftermarket support from developers and the backing of India’s top smartphone maker for service makes it easy for me to recommend the device to anyone looking for a quality mid-range smartphone around Rs. 18,000.

POCO X2 just like other phones in India received a price hike in April due to the new 18% GST. On May 31st, its price was once again bumped but only for the base and mid variant. Now, the high-end 8GB + 256B also gets its second price hike making it ₹1,500 costlier than its launch price.

POCO X2 launched in India as a rebranded Redmi K30 4G in February 2020. It is the brand’s second smartphone as well as its first with 120Hz refresh rate display. Since its debut in the country, it has been one of the best contenders in the sub-₹20,000 price segment.

If you look at the above images, you will notice that Motorola One Fusion+ sports a full screen display with no notch or holes, while POCO X2 and Realme 6 Pro have a dual punch-hole. That is why Motorola One Fusion+ has a motorized pop-up front camera. But the One Fusion+ is like a dual-sided medal: it offers a holeless display, but it is not made of premium materials. Instead, it has a plastic body like the ones you can find on entry-level phones. Instead, the POCO X2 offers a glass back and an aluminum frame just like premium flagships. That is why POCO X2 would be my choice. Realme 6 Pro sits in the middle with a glass back and a plastic frame. Motorola One Fusion+, POCO X2, and Realme 6 Pro are all splash resistant phones.

Display

OLED displays are trending, but you do not get any with this trio of devices. They all feature an IPS panels, but POCO X2 remains very interesting since it offers a high 120 Hz refresh rate and the HDR10 certification for better image quality, besides a wider display diagonal. Right after in the display ranking we got the Realme 6 Pro with a 90 Hz refresh rate, while Motorola One Fusion+ sports an unsurprising IPS panel with a standard refresh rate and no other interesting technologies.

Specs & Software

You can get slightly better performances with the POCO X2 since it features a slightly more powerful chipset: the Snapdragon 730G is older than the Snapdragon 720G found on the Realme 6 Pro, but it offers amazing CPU and GPU performance. But if you go for the Realme 6 Pro, you won’t lose so much. In both cases, you get up to 8 GB of RAM and UFS 2.1 internal storage. Motorola One Fusion+ comes with the vanilla Snapdragon 730 (it is basically a 730G with an inferior GPU) and just 6 GB of RAM.

Camera

The most convincing camera department belongs to the Realme 6 Pro: the only one to offer a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. It has a quad camera with a 64 MP main sensor, a 12 MP telephoto lens, an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a 2 MP macro camera. Further, it is the only one with an ultrawide dual front camera (the POCO X2 has a secondary depth sensor instead of an ultrawide lens).

Battery

Motorola One Fusion+ is the king of battery life not only because of its higher battery capacity (whopping 5000 mAh) but also because it has a more efficient display with a standard refresh rate. Realme 6 Pro has the smallest battery but still more than sufficient, and it features the fastest charging technology with a 30W power.

Price

Motorola One Fusion+ is priced Rs. 16,999 (roughly $223) in India (6/128 GB), POCO X2 costs Rs. 15,999 or $210 (6/64 GB), and Realme 6 Pro is actually priced Rs. 17,999 ($236) in its base variant (6/64 GB). With those prices, POCO X2 looks like the most interesting device of this trio due to its premium design, better display, great hardware, and pretty nice battery. But Realme 6 Pro offers better cameras, while Motorola One Fusion+ has longer battery life.

Now, after 4 months from its release, the handset’s price has been hiked (increased) second time. The phone now costs up to ₹1,500 more than its launch price.

Poco became an independent brand ahead of the announcement of Poco X2. Hence, the device is exclusively available on Flipkart and cannot be bought Mi.com in India.

The handset comes in three storage configurations – 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. They debuted at the price of ₹15,999, ₹16,999, and ₹19,999 respectively.

But within two months from its release, a new GST (Goods and Services Tax) for phones came into effective from April. This led the brand to increase the price of all the storage variants by ₹1,000. Thus, they were available for ₹16,999, ₹17,999, and ₹20,999 up until May 30.

But from May 31, Poco has once again hiked the price of base and mid variants of Poco X2 by another ₹500. Hence, the handset now costs ₹17,499, ₹18,499, and ₹20,999 respectively since the higher-end variant did not receive any price hike this time.

Looking at the specs, the phone is an easy sell. For $200, you get a device that has 64MP quad rear cameras, 33W fast charging that is faster than even that of the Mi 10 flagship, and a pretty big 5020mAh battery.

However, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has got some close competitors that may sway buyers to their side with what they have to offer. Two of such devices are the Realme 6 Pro and the POCO X2 which have a better display and better cameras but for a slightly higher starting price tag.

Not the best display in its class

If your budget is INR 20,999 and you want a phone with a high refresh rate, then the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max isn’t the device you should be looking at.

The Realme 6 Pro has a 90Hz refresh rate while the POCO X2 packs a 120Hz refresh rate. A higher refresh rate means a better user experience when it comes to games and general usage.

These two phones also have brighter screens than the Redmi Note 9 Pro. The Realme 6 Pro has a peak brightness of 480 while the POCO X2 has a peak brightness of 500. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max’s brightness peaks at 450 nits.

Doesn’t take the best photos

While all three phones have 64MP primary rear cameras, they are not the same. The POCO X2 uses the Sony IMX686 sensor while the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Realme 6 Pro both feature the inferior Samsung GW1. So when it comes to clicking shots, the POCO X2 comes out on top.

The Realme 6 may have the same primary camera as the Redmi Note 9 Pro but one of its other rear cameras is better than that of the Redmi Note 9 Pro and even POCO X2.

Rather than the 2MP depth camera on the Redmi and POCO, the Realme 6 Pro has a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. So you not only take better photos of distant objects with the Realme 6 Pro, but you also take better portrait photos.

The Realme 6 Pro and POCO X2 also have the upper hand when it comes to taking selfies as they both feature dual cameras in front unlike the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max that has just 1.

While none of their primary selfie cameras is as high as that of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, the Realme 6 Pro’ second selfie camera has an ultrawide angle lens so you can fit more friends or that awesome background in your selfies. The POCO X2’s second selfie camera is a depth sensor for better portrait selfies.

If you do not care for a higher refresh rate and you are fine with having a single front-facing camera, and acceptable rear cameras, then the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the device to get.

You can’t go wrong with the big battery and the 33W fast charging support. The Snapdragon 720G that powers it is also more powerful than the Snapdragon 730G inside the POCO X2.

However, if you want to pick an alternative, the POCO X2 will be the one we will recommend for its higher refresh rate, better primary rear camera, and price tag which is lower than that of the Realme 6 Pro. To be honest, if you are not purchasing the base model of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, the POCO X2 is the one you should buy as the 6+128GB version sells for the same price as that of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Currently, there are specific bugs such as SELinux is permissive, Lawnchair is present by default, Fingerprint sensor only works by tapping on it. Moreover, call audio, VoLTE, and VoWifi is currently not working. Furthermore, custom kernels are not yet supported.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S vs Xiaomi POCO X2 vs Oppo Realme 6 Pro

Design

The most premium design is offered by the Poco X2. The Indian rebrand of the Redmi K30 4G is the only phone in this trio sporting an aluminum frame paired with a glass back. Realme 6 Pro is slightly more compact, but it has a plastic frame instead of an aluminum one, just like the Redmi Note 9S. In each case, you get protection against water (they are splash resistant), but they are not waterproof. Both the front glass and the glass back are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

Display

Poco X2 is one of the few and most affordable smartphones with a display supporting a 120 Hz refresh rate and it wins the display comparison. All of these devices come with a Full HD+ IPS panel and a high refresh rate makes the difference with such displays. Further, Poco X2 supports HDR10, while its rivals do not. Righ after, we got the Realme 6 Pro with a still high 90 Hz refresh rate (unlike the Redmi Note 9S).

Specs & Software

With the Poco X2, you get a better processor, so also better performance. The Snapdragon 730G is obviously superior to the Snapdragon 720G, despite the latter is a more recent chipset. It has higher CPU and GPU performance, but the same efficiency. In its high-end memory configuration, Poco X2 also offers more internal storage: up to 256 GB. Redmi Note 9S and Realme 6 Pro have the same chipset, but Realme 6 Pro offers up to 8 GB of RAM while Redmi Note 9S stops at 6 GB. That is the reason why Realme 6 Pro takes the silver medal in the hardware comparison. Redmi Note 9S and Poco X2 run Android 10 customized by MIUI 11, while Realme 6 Pro has the Realme UI, still based on Android 10, out of the box.

Camera

The camera award goes to the Realme 6 Pro. What makes the difference on the rear side is its 12 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Instead of a telephoto lens, Redmi Note 9S and Poco X2 come with a pretty standard 2 MP depth sensor. Further, Realme 6 Pro is the only which offers an ultrawide dual front camera. The second place in the camera ranking goes to the Poco X2 coming with a 64 MP quad camera on the rear side and a dual camera on the front side including a depth sensor. Redmi Note 9S is inferior to both with its 48 MP quad camera and a single 16 MP selfie snapper.

Battery

Finally a moment of glory even for the Redmi Note 9S: thanks to its huge 5020 mAh battery, it is the king of battery life. Realme 6 Pro and Poco X2 are more or less at the same level even though their battery capacities are not the same, but Realme 6 Pro charges faster.

Price

In India, Redmi Note 9S is pretty affordable with a starting price of $249/€228, Realme 6 Pro starts at $228/€209, and Poco X2 is actually available for about $210/€192. If we exclude the battery life, Redmi Note 9S lags behind its two rivals. Realme 6 Pro wins the camera comparison (both front and rear cameras), while Poco X2 has a better display and a better chipset.

The POCO brand that took a sabbatical last year came back as independent entity this year. It introduced the POCO X2 phone with an attractive starting price of Rs. 15,999 (~$210). Today, the company took to Twitter to confirm that has increased the pricing of POCO X2 due to couple of reasons like GST hike and failing Rupee. With the price revision, the POCO X2 is now available with a starting price of Rs. 16,999 (~$223).

POCO India said that its business has been affected due to multiple factors. There has been a significant in the GST rate in India. It has now increased to 18 percent from 12 percent. The COVID-19 outbreak has impacted its supply chain and the falling Rupee value against US dollar have also caused the company to increase the pricing of POCO X2.

The POCO X2 variants such as 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB had debuted with price tags of Rs. 15,999 (~$210), Rs. 16,999 (~$223) and Rs. 19,999 (~$262). The new pricing of these models are Rs. 16,999 (~$223), Rs. 17,999 (~$236) and Rs. 20,999 (~$275).

POCO X2 specifications

The POCO X2 arrived as the rebranded version of the Redmi K30 4G that debuted in China last year. It features a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display that offers full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The dual punch-hole on its screen features a 20-megapixel main lens and a depth sensor of 2-megapixel.

The back panel of the phone has a quad camera setup. It includes a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 5-megapixel macro shooter and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It has a side-facing fingerprint reader. The POCO X2 is powered by Snapdragon 730G processor and comes with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage. It is loaded with Android 10 OS and MIUI 11.

Recently, Xiaomi‘s now independent Poco brand launched the popular POCO X2 and it was basically a rebranded Redmi K30 that was earlier launched in China. This may have fuelled speculations that the Redmi K30 Pro 5G which was equally unveiled in China recently will make its debut in India as Poco F2. An XDA Developers member equally found some code which suggests the Redmi K30 Pro may launch as a POCO branded phone, possibly the much-anticipated POCO F2.

That speculation or expectation has just been squashed by POCO GM C Manmohan. The GM held an interactive Zoom meeting today with fans where he shared some few information. The most important is the disclosure that the POCO F2 is different from the flagship Redmi K30 Pro. He also disclosed that the F2 is in the works and for those expecting a POCO F1 kind of surprise, he spilt some disappointing words. The Poco GM announced that the F2 will definitely not be priced around Rs 20,000 (~$265).

Recall that the POCO F1 had a RS 20,000 price tag when it was launched in 2018. This is despite packing a Snapdragon 845 chipset, a Liquid Cooling system and more. This was a crazy price tag which definitely was superb value for money offering. But then, Xiaomi couldn’t have claimed any reasonable profit from the product as the price wasn’t competitive at all. He even advised those with a budget of around Rs 20,000 (~$265) to go for the Poco X2 instead.

While Manmohan may have put paid to speculation of the Redmi K30 Pro 5G launching as Poco F2, we may still see the Redmi K30 Pro launch in India under the POCO brand but not as F2.

Furthermore, the Poco GM has also confirmed that the company is working on TWS earbuds. No word yet on the features or launch.

POCO X2 will be available in open sale for the first time since the launch back in February. The handset will be available to purchase in all storage configurations and color options from 19th March till 22nd March on Flipkart, the brand’s exclusive online store. This special open sale of the device running for four long days will be part of Flipkart’s Big Shopping Days sale.

POCO became an independent brand earlier this year with ‘Everything you need and nothing you don’t’ philosophy. The brand’s first smartphone as a separate brand from Xiaomi is POCO X2, a rebadged Redmi K30 for international markets. This phone comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM. The USP of this smartphone is its 6.67-inches IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 20:9 aspect ration for under ₹20,000 (~$269). Also, it is the only handset to feature 64MP Sony IMX686 primary camera in this segment.

Unlike the POCO F1, the POCO X2 is only available on Flipkart and it is currently the highest-rated Android smartphone on this platform with over 25,000 user ratings averaging at 4.6 points. Manmohan Chandolu, the brand’s General Manager said that his team has been humbled by the enthusiasm they have seen from the fans since the X2’s launch in February. Further, he hopes the special four days open sale to receive the same kind of appreciation the device has gotten till now.

The POCO X2 is priced at ₹15,999, ₹16,999, and ₹19,999 for 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB storage configurations respectively. As far as color options are concerned, the phone comes in Matrix Purple, Atlantis Blue, and Phoenix Red paint jobs. The open sale will commence from 12 AM on 19th March and buyers can avail ₹1500 instant discount on SBI credit card and EMI transactions as part of Flipkart Big Shopping Days sale.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is one of two phones that were launched in India last week. It packs pretty great specs for its price but its closest competitor is another phone from the “Xiaomi family” – the POCO X2. Both phones share similar specs in some areas and also have their individual strengths. If you are having a hard time deciding which you should go for, then you should read this post written to help you in making a decision.

While this post is supposed to help you decide which phone you should purchase, it will also be a comparison between the two devices, which of course shouldn’t be surprising. We will compare the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and the POCO X2 based on the following – Design, Display, Performance, Cameras, Battery Capacity, Fast Charging, and of course, Price.

Design

Design is based on personal preference. Some might like the centered punch hole of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and others might prefer the pill-shaped punch hole of the POCO X2. The two phones also have very different rear designs.

In terms of quality, both phones are similar. Their displays are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and there is also Gorilla Glass on the back.

With respect to weight and dimensions, the two phones are also nearly identical. The POCO X2 weighs 208 grams and measures 165.3 x 76.6 x 8.8 millimeters while the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max weighs 209 grams and measures 165.5 x 76.7 x 8.8 millimeters.

Display

The POCO X2 has a punch-hole in the top right corner for dual selfie cameras. The LCD display is 6.67-inches with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, on the other hand, has a centered punch-hole display but it is the same screen size and resolution as that of the POCO X2. However, it skips on the high refresh rate of the POCO X2. The spec sheet also says the POCO X2 has a brighter display (500 nits) against the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max’s 450 nits.

The POCO X2 does win in this category thanks to its 120HZ refresh rate and higher brightness level.

Performance

The Snapdragon 730G is the processor inside the POCO X2. It is a pretty powerful chipset with gaming features. However, benchmark results have shown that the newer Snapdragon 720G processor, which first appeared in the Realme 6 Pro and powers the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max too, is a more powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 730G.

Cameras

The two phones each have a 64MP primary rear camera but the POCO X2 comes with the Sony IMX686 sensor while the Redmi Note 9 Pro has the Samsung GW1 sensor. The aperture size and pixel size for the two sensors are the same. We are yet to see real-life camera samples of the Redmi Note 9 Pro but below are those of the POCO X2. Until a camera comparison, we won’t say outright which is better.

However, we have not yet seen reviews of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max but the POCO X2 does take some really great shots. So expect even brighter shots from the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

Both phones also have the same 8MP ultrawide angle camera with the same sensor size and aperture. They also have the same 2MP depth sensor. However, the Redmi has a higher resolution 5MP macro camera compared to the POCO X2’s macro camera.

Coming to the selfie cameras, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a single 32MP camera. This is not the first Xiaomi phone with a 32MP camera. The Mi A3 has a 32MP camera too but it has a smaller sensor size than that of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max which means the latter should take brighter selfies.

The POCO X2 has a 20MP selfie camera paired with a 2MP secondary depth camera for better portrait images. For regular selfies, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max should churn out better photos but the POCO X2 should be better at portrait because it has a dedicated depth sensor and isn’t just using software to blue the background.

Battery capacity and Fast Charging

It is best to compare these two features of both phones. On paper, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the better device with its 5020mAh battery capacity and 33W fast charger compared to the POCO X2’s 4500mAh battery capacity and 27W fast charging technology.

Not only does it have a bigger battery and a faster charging technology, but the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max should also have better battery life. It has the same screen as the POCO X2 but skips the high refresh rate which actually reduces battery life.

Others

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has some other advantages over the POCO X2 such as having a dedicated MicroSD card slot. This means you don’t have to sacrifice a SIM slot for a MicroSD card as in the case of the POCO X2.

Another merit is the support for NavIC, India’s navigation and positioning system. Sadly, the Snapdragon 730G chip in the POCO X2 doesn’t support it.

Price

The Redmi Note 9 Pro costs INR 14,999 (~$202) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB version while the POCO X2 is INR 15,999 (~$215) for the same configuration.

The 6GB RAM + 128GB version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is INR 16,999 (~$229) which is the same price for the same configuration for the POCO X2.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro also comes in an 8GB RAM + 128GB version that is priced at INR 18,999 (~$255). The POCO X2 also has an 8GB RAM version but with 256GB of storage for INR 19,999 (~$269).

Conclusion

If you don’t care about a high refresh rate but want a phone that will take great pictures and also last you well more than a day alongside being able to recharge it faster, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the one to buy. You also save money which can be used to purchase a MicroSD card for more storage.

However, if having a 120Hz refresh rate, a more than decent camera including great portrait selfies, then the POCO X2 is the device to choose.

Correction: The primary sensor for the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has been corrected. The original article said it is a Sony IMX686 sensor but it is actually the Samsung GW1.

Its display goes up to 120 Hz and it even supports the HDR10 standard, unlike Realme 6 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. At the second place of the ranking, we got the Realme 6 Pro with a 90 Hz refresh rate and a 120 Hz touch sampling rate. Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a standard refresh rate, so nothing special. The rest of the specs of these displays are similar, including display sizes and resolution that are exactly the same for each device.

Specs & Software

On the hardware side, Poco X2 wins again. It is fueled by a more powerful processor, despite it is an older chipset. We are talking about the Snapdragon 730G, an octa-core chipset with high graphics performance running at a 2.2 GHz max frequency. And the most expensive configuration of the Poco X2 has more internal storage: up to 256 GB. Realme 6 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max are powered by an inferior Snapdragon 720G, but still great in terms of performance and gaming. The memory configurations of Realme 6 Pro and Redmi Noe 9 Pro Max are exactly the same and Android 10 is installed out of the box.

Camera

On the paper, Realme 6 Pro has a better camera setup than Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Poco X2. Unlike its rivals, it includes a 12 MP telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom. Further, it has an amazing ultrawide front camera with dual 16 + 8 MP sensors. We are not saying Realme 6 Pro is a high-end camera phone, but it looks superior to is opponents. After testing it, we will be able to give you our definitive opinion about its photo quality.

Battery

The battery award goes to Redmi Note 9 Pro equipped with a 5020 mAh battery. We believe it will last a lot more on a single charge in many scenarios. And it even comes with a faster charging technology; however, it will not charge faster until 100 percent since Realme 6 Pro has a smaller battery.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max prices begin at INR 14,999 / €180 / $202, Realme 6 Pro is available starting from INR 16,999 / $232 / €220, and Poco X2 starts from INR 16,999 as well. Poco X2 wins the comparison when it comes to build quality and performance. Redmi Note 9 Pro Max wins the battery comparison only, so we do not recommend it as the first choice for Indian buyers unless you want to save some money. And just like the Realme 6, it splash resistant. And thanks to its punch-hole display, the bezels are very narrow even though the panel is notch-less. In terms of look, I like the Realme 6 a bit more since it sports a single punch-hole display and a more minimalistic design, but Poco X2 is more convincing due to its more premium materials.

Display

Unfortunately, none of these devices comes with an AMOLED display. But the Poco X2 is one of the most affordable smartphones to offer a high 120 Hz refresh rate, while Realme 6 has a 90 Hz refresh rate and a 120 Hz touch-sampling rate. While AMOLED displays often deliver more brilliant colors, displays with a high refresh rate offer a smoother viewing experience, so they are still very nice. Poco X2 wins the display comparison since it comes not only with the highest refresh rate, but it is also HDR10-compliant, and it has a wider display diagonal. Redmi Note 8 Pro has a standard refresh rate and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, while the fingerprint scanners of Realme 6 and Poco X2 are side-mounted.

Specs & Software

Both Redmi Note 8 Pro and Realme 6 are fueled by the Helio G90T chipset and they offer UFS 2.1 internal storage. While Redmi Note 8 Pro goes up to 256 GB, Realme 6 stops at 128 GB. Poco X2 is powered by the Snapdragon 730G which is slightly less powerful, but it is built with a better production process and it provides a lower energy consumption. These devices run Android 10 out of the box with a custom user interface. Realme 6 has a dedicated micro SD slot, which means you can use both dual SIM and micro SD at the same time. Redmi Note 8 Pro and Poco X2 have a hybrid micro SD slot, but on the other hand, they sport an IR sensor, unlike Realme 6.

Camera

Camera departments are more or less at the same level: in each case, you get a main 64 MP sensor: the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1, which is a midrange-class sensor. The sensor is paired with an 8 MP ultrawide lens, a dedicated macro camera and a depth sensor. You can find this setup on a lot of midrange phones. The main difference regards the front cameras: Poco X2 is the only with a dual front snapper including a depth sensor.

Battery

Poco X2 and Redmi Note 8 Pro have a slightly bigger battery than Realme 6: 4500 mAh vs 4300 mAh. Theoretically, Poco X2 should be able to offer a longer battery life in a lot of scenarios, since it has a more efficient chipset built at 8 nm. But according to the first tests of the Poco X2, Redmi Note 8 Pro often provides a longer battery life, probably due to its lower refresh rate.

Price

Realme 6 is priced Rs. 12,999 / €155 / $175 in India, Redmi Note 8 Pro starts from Rs. 14,299 / €171 / $192, and Poco X2 costs Rs. 17,999 / €215 / $242 in its base variant. The specifications offered by these devices are very close and it is very hard to pick a winner for everyone. I would personally go for the Poco X2 due to its more premium design, more efficient chipset, and a higher refresh rate. But Realme 6 offers a higher value for money and the few differences highlighted would not convince me to spend more for the Poco X2. What would your choice be?

POCO has just confirmed a major OS update for its recently launched POCO X2 earlier today (24th February 2020). In a press release, the Chinese smartphone brand announced that the handset will receive Google‘s latest Android iteration, Android 11.

The announcement has also been shared on Twitter, as a Marketing and Communications executive from POCO’s Indian branch shared a poster conveying the announcement. As of right now, the POCO X2 arrives with Android 10 preinstalled out of the box, which is currently the latest version of the operating system that is commercially available.

For those unaware, POCO is a subsidiary of Xiaomi which was founded back in 2018 but is now a standalone company that runs independently from the Chinese tech giant. In other words, it operates and the market as an individual entity. Previously, the company had launched the Pocophone F1, which was a well-received device, under Xiaomi’s name and has since finally launched the POCO X2 under its own on 11th February 2020.

The POCO X2 is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 4G for the Indian market, which was launched in China in December 2019. It arrives with similar specifications as the latter and is currently available at a price starting from 15,999 INR (roughly 224 US Dollars). Under the hood, the device features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G SoC alongside up to 8GM of LPDDRX RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. The display is a large 6.67 IPS FHD+ LCD RealityFlow panel which offers a 120Hz refresh rate as well, a feature not common in this segment.

All in all, its a smartphone that perfectly symbolizes Xiaomi and Redmi‘s philosophy of offerings great value for money. Thus, the early confirmation that it will receive Android 11 is also another plus point. This will future proof the device and attract more potential buyers in the Indian subcontinent as well.

Oppo Reno3 Pro 4G vs Poco X2 vs Redmi K20 Pro

Design

Oppo Reno3 Pro and Poco X2 come with a dual punch-hole design, while Redmi K20 Pro comes with a notch-less and borderless display thanks to a pop-up camera. While the front side of the Redmi K20 Pro looks more futuristic because it is hole-less when it comes to the rear side I personally prefer the Oppo Reno3 Pro because it is more minimalistic. Further, the Oppo Reno 3 Pro is a thinner device. But tastes play an important role in such a decision: all of these devices are built with premium materials and they have a premium design, despite they are not top-tier flagships.

Display

The most attractive display is undoubtedly the one found on the Oppo Reno3 Pro. It has a higher refresh rate, a great AMOLED panel, a high DCI-P3 coverage, and a very high brightness. Redmi K20 Pro has a high color accuracy, but it comes with a standard refresh rate. The Poco X2 has a higher refresh rate than Oppo Reno3 Pro (up to 120 Hz) but it has a classic IPS panel and it does not feature an in-display fingerprint reader. Oppo Reno3 Pro has a more complete display.

Specs & Software

The hardware department is the strongest point of the Redmi K20 Pro. It is the only with flagship-grade hardware composed of a Snapdragon 855 chipset, up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Both Oppo Reno3 Pro and Poco X2 are just mid-rangers. The SoC model of the former is still unknown (it is rumored to be an Helio P95), while the second is fueled by a Snapdragon 730G chipset. Oppo Reno3 Pro and Poco X2 have Android 10 out of the box, while Redmi K20 Pro is older and it ships with Android Pie. But it still wins the specs comparison.

Camera

Oppo Reno3 Pro is an advanced camera phone and it wins the camera comparison. It is the only handset of this trio to feature OIS, as well as the only with a telephoto sensor carrying the support for optical zoom. It even comes with a useful monochromatic sensor instead of the classic depth sensor found on most of the midrange devices. Last but not least, it has one of the best front cameras out there: a dual setup with a 44 MP main lens. The specifications of the secondary sensor are still unknown.

Battery

With a 4500 mAh, the Poco X2 is the best battery phone here. But the Oppo Reno3 Pro has the fastest charging technology: with a 30W power and VOOC Flash Charge 4.0, it reaches 50 percent of charge in just 20 minutes.

Price

We still do not know how much Oppo Reno3 Pro will cost in India. Poco X2 has an Rs. 15,999 / €205 / $222 starting price, while Redmi K20 Pro costs about Rs. 23,290 / €300 / $325 in its 6/128 GB configuration. There is not a universal winner of this comparison: you should go for the Oppo Reno3 Pro if you want the best camera and the most interesting display, Redmi K20 Pro is the only with flagship-level performance, and Poco X2 has the longest battery life. Overall, Oppo Reno3 Pro looks slightly more interesting.

POCO announced its first phone since the brand went solo last week. The POCO X2 went on sale for the first time today and we expect the device to be a hot-selling one. For folks that are still not convinced about making the X2 their next smartphone, the camera samples that have been obtained from early reviews may just turn out to be the deal sealer.

The POCO X2 features a dual-LED flash assisted quad-camera system where the main camera is a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel main lens, teaming up with an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with a field-of-view of 120 degrees, a 2-megapixel dedicated lens for macro shots and a 2-megapixel depth assist sensor. The POCO X2 offers plenty of camera features such as raw camera capture, bokeh, 4K video shooting at 30fps, HD video shooting at 960fps, video blogging mode, ultrawide video recording.  The camera performs impressively both under low light and bright lighting conditions.

The selfie camera also performs well in capturing beautiful shots. As a reminder, the X2 is equipped with a 20MP+2MP dual camera setup at the front. The front cameras support AI portrait mode, screen flash and full HD video recording at 30fps.

On Feb. 4, POCO India had launched the POCO X2 smartphone in India. It is a rebadged version of the Redmi K30 4G phone that went official in December 2019. The POCO X2 has arrived in India with an enticing starting price of Rs. 15,999 (~$224). As announced at the launch event, the first sale of the POCO X2 will be held today in India. The handset can be exclusively purchased through Flipkart.

POCO X2 price in India

The POCO X2 won’t be available on Mi.com as the POCO brand has separated from Xiaomi. The POCO X2 variants such as 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage models are respectively priced at Rs. 15,999 (~$224), Rs. 16,999 (~$238) and Rs. 19,999 (~$280). The first sale will take place at 12 PM on Flipkart.

Atlantis Blue, Phoenix Red and Matrix Purple are the three color variants of the POCO X2. Customers with ICICI Bank card or EMI transactions can avail a discount of Rs. 1,000 on purchase of POCO X2.

The POCO X2 features a large-sized 6.67-inch IPS LCD RealityFlow display that offers 120Hz refresh rate, 1080 x 2400 pixels full HD+ resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 730G octa-core chipset drives the smartphone with up to 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM.

At the front, the pill-shaped cutout on the display houses a 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual selfie camera setup. The back panel of the phone has a 64-megapixel (Sony IMX686) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro) + 2-megapixel (depth) quad camera setup.

Poco X2 has the most complete camera department including a 64 MP quad camera on the rear and a dual front camera with a depth sensor. But Moto G Stylus is still an amazing camera phone, with great autofocus and a very nice video quality. On the paper, Oppo F15 is inferior.

Thanks to its bigger battery, the Poco X2 will be able to offer a longer battery life on a single charge. And it even has a faster charging technology, so you do not have to worry about charging times despite the bigger capacity.

Motorola Moto G Stylus hitten the shelves with a €270/$295 price tag in the configuration with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, Oppo F15 is available for about €355/$388 in the 8/128 GB configuration, and Poco X2 starts from just €205/$225 in the 6/64 GB variant. Overall, Poco X2 looks like a more complete device with its better chipset, great cameras, bigger battery, great software, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. And it is even a smartphone with a higher value for money, but you should note that these devices are sold in different markets, so it is currently impossible to make a fair price comparison.

After a wait for over a year, including uncountable leaks, rumors, and certifications, the new Poco device is finally here. The company launched Poco X2 at an event in New Delhi. The newly launched smartphone offers competitive specifications at an aggressive price. It is the rebranded version of Redmi K30, which was launched last year in China.

Along with the specifications, Poco X2 and Redmi K30 have a lot in common. They share the same Kernel source code, same custom MODs, custom ROMs, and a lot more. It would be beneficial for the third-party developers to craft custom ROMs and MODs for multiple devices with the same source code. Surprisingly, the Poco X2 bootloader can be unlocked just after three days than the usual week’s time.

Xiaomi’s sub-brand which recently became independent from the company just announced the Poco X2 in India: its second smartphone alias the successor of the famous affordable flagship known as Pocophone F1 in the global market. The new model is essentially a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 with no difference. And we think it is worth comparing it with its predecessor which is currently sold in the Indian market at a similar price: Redmi K20. Unlike what you might think, this comparison is all but obvious. Although the Poco X2 is the successor of the Redmi K20, it does not necessarily mean it is a better deal for everyone.

Xiaomi Poco X2 vs Xiaomi Redmi K20

Design

Despite being a 2019 mid-ranger, the design of the Redmi K20 still looks amazing. Unlike the Poco X2 that comes with a dual punch-hole display, the Redmi K20 has a holeless display, no notch, and no punch-hole, thanks to a motorized pop-up camera. That is why I personally prefer its aesthetics over the Poco X2.

The presence of a pop-up camera hasn’t increased its thickness. The Redmi K20 has exactly the same thickness as the Poco X2 and it even weighs less. On both devices, you get a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and an aluminum frame. But only the Poco X2 is splash resistant, while Redmi K20 does not offer any kind of protection against water.

Display

The display of the Poco X2 is very innovative thanks to its high 120 Hz refresh rate, but it is an IPS panel and some might not prefer it over AMOLED. On the other hand, Redmi K20 lacks a high refresh rate, but it offers an AMOLED display (with HDR support just like the Poco X2) as well as an under-display fingerprint scanner (on the Poco X2, there is a side-mounted fingerprint reader).

The 120Hz refresh rate is definitely a big leap over the 60Hz AMOLED screen on the K20. But end of the day, it’s going to be a personal choice. You have to choose between a high-refresh-rate LCD screen over a regular refresh rate AMOLED display with better colors.

Both displays are protected by Gorilla Glass 5, but Poco X2 has dual punch-hole cameras, while Redmi K20 is notch-less and holeless thanks to a pop-up camera.

Specs & Software

Poco X2 and Redmi K20 are powered by the Snapdragon 730G and the Snapdragon 730 chipsets, respectively. The Snapdragon 730G offers higher graphics performance than Snapdragon 730, while for the rest they are essentially the same chipset. So if you are a gamer and you care about GPU, Poco X2 is way better. Further, Poco X2 features expandable storage, while Redmi K20 does not have a memory card slot. Last but not the least, Poco X2 has Android 10 out of the box, while Redmi K20 ships with Android 9 Pie since it was released in June 2019.

Camera

Poco X2 offers more cameras on the rear side, but Redmi K20 has a more interesting setup, thanks to the presence of a telephoto sensor. The telephoto lens is way harder to find on a mid-range smartphone compared to the kind of sensors found on the Poco X2. But the Poco X2 wins when it comes to front cameras, thanks to a dual 20 + 2 MP setup including a depth sensor.

Anyways, both are midrange camera phones, so do not expect anything special from them. However, lately, mid-range smartphone cameras are capable enough to give you excellent captures, comparable to more expensive devices. So both the devices will offer good quality samples, especially in bright daylight.

Battery

Poco X2 has a bigger 4500 mAh battery and it should last a lot more on a single charge, despite featuring a less efficient display. Further, it has a faster-charging technology with 27W power, while Redmi K20 features a 4000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

So, on the battery side, X2 wins the comparison.

Price

Despite being the successor of the Redmi K20, The Pocophone X2 starts from a more affordable price tag than Redmi K20 in India. The handset just debuted in the Indian market with a starting price tag of just Rs. 15,999 for the base variant (6/64 GB), which roughly translates into about $225 at the current exchange change. The intermediate configuration with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage costs Rs. 16,999 which roughly translates into $239, while the most powerful version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB native storage costs Rs. 19,999 that is equivalent to about $281.

For Rs. 19,999, you can currently get just the base variant of the Redmi K20 which offers 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage (and we are talking about the street price). I would personally prefer the Poco X2 aka Redmi K30 not only for its higher value for money but also because of its splash-resistant design, high refresh rate, better chipset, wider display, micro SD support and a bigger battery with faster charging.

Note that the Redmi K20 actually offers a more interesting AMOLED panel and cameras, as well as an in-display fingerprint reader, so you should not underestimate it. In both cases, you get an amazing mid-ranger.

After almost 18 months, POCO has announced its second smartphone, the POCO X2. You can read about the device which is actually a rebranded Redmi K30 4G.

The POCO X2 is not only the brand’s second smartphone since it launched in 2018 but this is its first smartphone as an independent brand. If you have not been following the news, it will interest you to know that POCO is no longer a sub-brand under Xiaomi but is now an “independent” company.

With the launch of the new phone comes some new developments. The first is that production has stopped for the POCO F1. This info was revealed by C. Manmohan, the general manager of POCO India, in a chat with India Today Tech.

When asked what the reason behind the decision was, he hinted that Qualcomm was halting the production of the Snapdragon 845 chipset that powers the POCO F1. Asides that, it has been 18 months already since the launch and very few manufacturers keep producing old devices. This can also be a marketing decision to get people to purchase their new phone.

As at the time of writing, the only place you can pick up a brand new POCO F1 (in India) is at Mi Home stores and on Flipkart and Amazon India. No, it is no longer available on Mi.com. We don’t know how much stock is available but once available stock is finished, don’t expect it to be available anymore. For those who want to pick up the POCO X2, they can only do so on Flipkart (it is not sold on Mi.com).

We are not surprised the new phone is not listed on Xiaomi’s online store since POCO India has its own website but we expected it would be available on Poco.in. We presume POCO is not ready to have its own online store yet and may not even do so for a while since it technically only has one product.

There is no news yet on when POCO’s flagship phone, expected to launch as the POCO F2, will launch, but we will let you know once we do.

Redmi K30 4G has landed in India. It has arrived with the POCO X2 moniker. It is not the successor for the highly popular POCO F1 smartphone from 2018. The POCO F2 will be arriving sometime later in this year.

POCO has started the year 2020 with the mid-range POCO X2 smartphone. The handset has been introduced in India in three variants and it comes with a starting price of Rs. 15,999 (~$225). The POCO X2 is the first phone in India to sport the Sony IMX686 64-megapixel camera. It has an impressive large-sized display that offers a tall aspect ratio of 120Hz.

POCO X2 specifications and features

The POCO X2 measures 165.3 x 76.6 x 8.8mm and it weighs 208 grams. The front and rear sides of the phone are flanked Gorilla Glass 5 and it is equipped with an aluminum frame. It is a splash-proof device with P2i coating. The POCO X2 is fitted with a 6.67-inch IPS LCD display that offers a full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The HDR10 compliant screen supports a refresh rate of 120Hz which offers an enriched and super smooth experience. The display has a pill-shaped at the top-right corner. It houses two front-facing cameras.

The 8nm Snapdragon 730G is at the helm of the POCO X2 with up to 8 GB of RAM. The MIUI 11 based Android 10 comes preloaded on the device. For gamers, the phone is equipped with GPU Turbo for an enhanced gaming experience. The phone is able to regulate its internal temperature while intensive gaming as it is equipped with liquid cooling technology. The POCO X2 receives power from a 4,500mAh battery and it comes with support for 17W fast charging. It can be fully charged in 68 minutes, just like the K30 4G.

The POCO X2 comes with UFS 2.1 storage of up to 256 GB. A shared SIM slot is available onboard for more storage. The dual selfie camera system on the POCO X2 has a primary shooter of 20-megapixel. It is coupled with a 2-megapixel. There is a circular pattern on the rear shell of the POCO X2 which houses a dual-LED flash assisted quad-camera system. It is equipped with a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with a field-of-view of 120 degrees, a 2-megapixel dedicated lens for macro shots and a 2-megapixel depth assist sensor. The POCO X2 offers plenty of camera features such as raw camera capture, 4K video shooting at 30fps, HD video shooting at 960fps, video blogging mode, ultrawide video recording. The front cameras support AI portrait mode, screen flash and full HD video recording at 30fps.

The POCO X2 comes with other features like dual SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, VoWiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, IR blaster, GPS, USB-C and 3.5mm audio jack. The phone is also equipped with Hi-Res Audio and 1217 super line speaker with Smart PA loudspeaker. Lastly, there is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the device.

POCO X2 price and availability

Here is the pricing of the different variants of the POCO X2:

• 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage – Rs. 15,999 (~$225)
• 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – Rs. 16,999 (~$239)
• 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage – Rs. 19,999 (~$281)
• Color variants: Atlantis Blue, Matrix Purple, and Phoenix Red

The POCO X2 will be exclusively available for purchase through Flipkart starting from Feb. 11. Buyers with ICICI debit and credit cards with Rs. 1,000 cashback.

Throughout the launch event of the POCO X2, the company claimed that its device is better than the Realme X2 in many aspects.

The countdown to the POCO X2 launch is left with just hours as the device is billed to be officially unveiled in India on February 4. Poco is back and it has split up with Xiaomi to operate independently in the Indian market. The brand is all set to release its first phone in over 1.5 years tomorrow, called the Poco X2. The X2 isn’t exactly the successor to the incredibly popular Poco F1 flagship that was announced in 2018. The Poco ‘X’ series will be placed below the ‘F’ series in India, aimed at the mid-range segment. Since we are all excited for the device launching tomorrow, let’s take a quick look at what we know about the Poco X2.

Poco X2 is going to be a rebranded Redmi K30 4G

If you think the Poco X2 is going to be anything more than a rebadged Redmi K30 4G, then you are in for disappointment. From all the teasers and the rumors we’ve heard so far, the X2 is basically a rebranded Redmi K30 4G model. If you are still not convinced after seeing the teasers, know that the Redmi K30 was certified on India’s BIS under the Poco branding.

The K30 was first announced in December 2019 in China. While the K30 is no flagship, it’s still an impressive smartphone. So even if Poco’s first smartphone doesn’t directly succeed the flagship Poco F1, it will still be an incredibly value for money device.

And since the Poco X2 will be a rebadged Redmi K30 4G, we know almost everything about the device.

Poco X2 Design & Specification

Poco has confirmed a couple of features on the X2. First, the phone will feature a 120Hz high refresh rate. Traditionally, high refresh rates are reserved for smartphones that are placed in the upper mid-range segment, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see a mid-ranger get this particular feature.

Another feature confirmed by the teaser is the Sony IMX 686 sensor. This new 64MP sensor from Sony is expected to provide slightly higher resolution photos than the 48MP IMX 586 sensor found on a number of mid-rangers last year. In fact, the IMX686 could potentially be used in the upcoming Huawei P40 Pro camera flagship too!

The side fingerprint sensor was also confirmed by a recent teaser video. The image showed off the sides of the violet / purple colored Poco X2. If you recall, the Redmi K30 4G also had a violet colored variant. And the fingerprint sensor on the device is also placed on the side.

Poco X2’s fast charging speed was also confirmed in one of the teaser. The brand revealed that the phone can charge quickly from 0% to 40% in just 25 minutes. We can expect a large 4500mAh battery on board, the same capacity battery found on the Redmi K30. And in case you are wondering, yes, the K30 supported 27W fast charging too. Which means the Poco X2 should charge to 100% in just around 68 minutes.

The company has also confirmed liquid cooling on the X2, for extended gaming sessions. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the K30 features a 5mm copper tube liquid cooling that can bring the the temperature of the phone down by up to 7 degrees. The headphone jack is also confirmed at the bottom of the device.

Will there be any difference between the Poco X2 and the Chinese Redmi K30 4G?

This is the real question that’ll be answered tomorrow. As of now, all teasers show that the Poco X2 is identical to the Redmi K30 4G model.

Poco X2 Pricing & Availability (Expected)

We have no official word on pricing or availability of the Poco X2. Rumors are putting the starting price somewhere between Rs. 14,999 and Rs. 18,999. The Chinese Redmi K30 4G variant starts at 1599 yuan for its 6GB + 64GB model. This comes to around Rs. 16,000 in India. So, it’s possible that the Poco X2 launches around this price tag in India.

Honestly, I think the Poco X2 could launch at Rs. 16,999 to directly take on the Realme X2 that features similar specs including the exact same Snapdragon 730G chipset. The Realme X2 starts at Rs. 16999 for its 4GB RAM model. So, Poco’s X2 could undercut the Realme mid-ranger if it offers its 6GB RAM variant at this price.

As for availability, we can expect the phone to go on sale a week or two after the launch event tomorrow. However, we’ll have to see if the recent coronavirus outbreak has any effect on its supply.

The teaser basically erases any doubt that the upcoming model is a rebadged Redmi K30. The video shows what looks very much like the Redmi K30 purple variant. The video lived up to its billing as a teaser since it didn’t allow us to have a focused look at the design., However, the side-mounted fingerprint sensor which doubles as the power button. The rear camera arrangement is also similar to what the K30 utilised.

This discovery really shouldn’t hit anyone as a surprise. The cues have been everywhere this past few days. Even though we have seen the signs, some still wish they were untrue. The Poco X2 is coming two years after the company first launched the Poco F1. So, we had expected an upgrade. That befitting upgraded model may still be in the works.

The Poco X2 has already been revealed to come with a 27W charging support. The display will also have up to 120Hz refresh rate. It is expected to be sold exclusively on Flipkart.

POCO will be unveiling the POCO X2 smartphone in India on Feb. 4. The smartphone is most likely coming to country as a renamed version of the Redmi K30. China had received Redmi K30 in 5G and 4G flavors in December. Multiple evidences have suggested that the Redmi K30 4G model is coming to India as POCO X2. The 8 GB RAM variant of the phone was spotted earlier on Geekbench this month. Now, its 6 GB RAM edition has been surfaced on the benchmarking platform.

The Xiaomi POCO X2 phone’s Geekbench screenshot shows that it will be also available in 6 GB RAM version. Recently, Indian publication Hindustan Times had also released a leaked render that carried the key specs and pricing of the POCO X2. It had stated that the phone will be coming in 6 GB RAM edition.

The name of the processor that powers the POCO X2 phone is not mentioned on the Geekbench listing. However, it seems that the 1.80GHz octa-core processor that powers the POCO X2 could be Snapdragon 730G mobile platform. The Redmi K30 4G also features the same SoC. The phone is loaded with Android 10 OS. It scored 547 in the single-core test of Geekbench and it recorded a score of 1757 in the multi-core test.

The leaked poster on the Hindustan Times report had revealed that the 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage edition will be priced at Rs. 18,999. The higher 8 GB RAM edition may come with 128 GB storage. Hopefully, it could be priced lower than Rs. 20,000.

POCO X2 specifications

The POCO X2 product pages on POCO India website and Flipkart online retailer site have revealed that it will be coming with a 120Hz refresh rate supporting screen. For heat dissipation, it will be equipped with liquid cooling technology. The phone will carry support for 27W fast charging. It is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Redmi K30 has a 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup in its pill-shaped display cutout. It has a 64-megapixel (Sony IMX686) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixe (macro) + 2-megapixel (depth) quad camera setup. The device is backed by a 4,500mAh battery. These specs are also likely to be available on the POCO X2.

The website has played host to yet another teaser showing the Poco X2 will come with support for 27W fast charging.

The Poco X2 is said to be a rebadged Redmi K30. Even leaked renders and posters have also shown that both phones will share the same design. The specs are also aligning with each other. First, the Redmi K30 comes with the 120Hz refresh rate which ill effectively prevent lagging. The Redmi K30 4G version equally comes with 27W fast charge support while the 5G version has a 30W fast charger.

The POCO X2 smartphone will go official on Feb. 4. Yesterday, Hindustan Times released a poster of the upcoming POCO X2. Moreover, it also revealed that the handset will be priced at Rs. 18,999 (~$266) at launch. The leaked poster also carried some of the key specs of the phone. The design of the phone reveals that it is a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 4G that was announced in December in China. The smartphone has now appeared in some live shots. One of the them reveals that it is powered by the Snapdragon 730G which again hints that it is a rebadged Redmi K30.

In the above shown live shot, the POCO X2 moniker and its ‘phoenixin’ codename can be found mentioned in the AnTuTu benchmarks. It also reveals that the phone is driven by the Snapdragon 7150 SoC which is nothing but the internal name of the Snapdragon 730G.

Some other live shots of the POCO X2 have revealed some of its hardware features. A closer shot of the top portion of the POCO X2 gives a good look at its dual selfie snapper located at the top-right corner of the screen. The slim bezel at the top has a large-sized earpiece. The size of the earpiece suggests that it may also function as a loudspeaker. Hence, the POCO X2 is likely to come equipped with stereo speakers.
