Lexar came through in a big way at the 2024 China Flash Memory Market Summit (CFMS2024) with a trio of impressive new storage products: a 1TB NM Card, a 2TB microSD Card, and a high-speed SD 3.0 Card. The star of the show is the 1TB NM Card, the first of its kind to break the capacity record. This feat is achieved through a combination of Lexar’s self-developed Longsys WM6000 main control chip, cutting-edge NAND stacking technology from Yuancheng Suzhou, and advanced packaging techniques.

The 2TB card supports read speeds of up to 150 MB/s and write 70 MB/s

Photographers and videographers will be glad to hear that Lexar also unveiled a monstrous 2TB microSDXC UHS-I memory card. Perfect for drones, action cameras, and handheld gaming consoles, this card utilizes 12-layer NAND stacking and ultra-thin processing to achieve its massive storage capacity while adhering to microSD size standards. China Unveils a New Petabit-capacity Optical Disk, A Game-Changer for Storage

China has made a huge stride in technology with the creation of a new optical disk that can hold a vast amount of data—up to a petabit. The innovation comes from the smart folks at the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It’s not just another disk; it’s a game-changer for storing data.

The disk is built in 3D, with hundreds of layers stacked on each other

What sets this disk apart is its design. It’s built in 3D, stacking hundreds of layers on top of each other. This approach dramatically increases how much data you can store on it. The team didn’t stop there; they also made the data spots incredibly tiny, about 54 nanometers wide, and placed them super close together, at 70 nanometers apart. They managed to do this by getting around a common hurdle in optics, the optical diffraction limit.

The secret sauce in this disk is a special kind of film that contains a dye. When this dye gets hit with very short laser pulses, it allows data to be stored in these tiny spots.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Leak Sheds Light on Storage and Color Variants

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series is set to be unveiled early next year with some top-notch specifications and hardware. It is a highly anticipated feature of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in some regions and the Exynos 2400 in the remaining parts. The smartphone is already the talk of the town, thanks to multiple leaks and rumors. In addition, details about its storage and color variants have surfaced from a leak via @Tech_Reve.

As per the leak, the Samsung Galaxy S24 will debut in 8GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variants. It will be available in four different color options: Gray, Black, Violet, and Yellow. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24+ will start with 12GB of RAM+256GB and an additional 12GB+512GB storage variant. It is also available in the same color options.

The biggest, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, will debut in 12+256GB, 12+512GB, and 12GB+1TB storage options. The color option will remain the same throughout the Galaxy S334 series. However, we expect some additional colors for Online Retail via Samsung.com.

Previous leaks about the Galaxy S24 Ultra suggest the presence of a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, a 50MP 5x telephoto camera, and another 10MP 10x telephoto lens. However, the same leaker, @Tech_Reve, confronted and suggested the presence of a 50MP periscope telephoto lens instead of the 10MP telephoto lens.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is expected to launch on January 17, 2024. The new series will bundle plenty of AI features based on the recently announced Samsung Gauss AI software. There will be generative wallpaper, text creation, and real-time translation.

As per a Hankyung report, the Galaxy S24 will go on sale for $799, the Galaxy S24+ will retail at $999 and the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available for $1,119. The smartphone is reportedly coming with 2600 nits peak brightness, satellite connectivity, and much more.

Western Digital to soon launch cheaper Xbox storage expansion cards

Microsoft’s Xbox gaming consoles support expandable storage and right now, if you are in the market for expandable storage, then the only option available is from Seagate.

But that is about to change soon as Microsoft appears to be ready to offer expandable storage options for the Xbox lineup from other manufacturers or at least one other company — Western Digital.

A new 1TB expansion card for the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, manufactured by Western Digital, has been spotted on the website of online retailer Best Buy, carrying a price tag of $179.99.

The company hasn’t officially announced the product yet, meaning that it is not yet available for purchase. Soon after the reports started surfacing online about the listing on Best Buy, the online retailer took the listing offline.

Microsoft first launched the Xbox expandable storage cards about three years ago in multiple storage capacities, ranging from 512GB to 2TB, exclusively from Seagate. The pricing for the product didn’t go down even after these many years, while pricing for similar products for Sony PS5 dropped significantly.

With the new options coming from Western Digital, there will finally be an expandable storage card for the Xbox Series X/S that is not manufactured by Seagate, and that too at a lower cost than what they are currently selling for. Given that it was listed on Best Buy with a price tag, we expect them to get launched soon, within a few days, if not weeks.

Recent statistics show that the current smartphone sales are going on a downtrend as of 2023, and one of the reasons why is that smartphone upgrades were not as attractive as they used to be. So is it because smartphone manufacturers are not offering what the smartphone market demands? First on the list is longer battery life. Users want to be able to use their phones all day without worrying about running out of juice. Bigger storage space

Next up is bigger storage space. Users want to be able to store all their content without having to constantly delete files or move them to the cloud. Some manufacturers offer phones with expandable storage options or large built-in storage capacities for their base models, but many users still find themselves running out of space.

Better Durability

Finally, users want better durability. Smartphones are expensive investments purchased and users want them to last. They want phones that can withstand drops and spills without breaking or malfunctioning. Xiaomi Mobile SSD 1TB Launched; Crowdfunding Begins On December 14 For 649 Yuan ($93)

Xiaomi, although well-known for its smartphones, has a whole lineup of accessories and other products in different categories of technology. Continuing the trend, the company has launched its first hard drive, called Xiaomi Mobile SSD 1TB.

As the name itself indicates, the newly announced hard drive from the brand has 1TB of capacity and is a Solid State Drive (SSD) which is about 10 times faster than the traditional hard drive.

For the Xiaomi Mobile SSD 1TB, the company is launching the product through Crowdfunding which will start on 14th December. Those who back the crowdfunding campaign will get the product for 649 yuan (~$93), and the company suggested retail price is 799 yuan (~$114).

It comes with an exquisite design in a metal body having a light-colored aluminum shell that has been processed with fine sandblasting and anodizing. As for the performance, the sequential read/write rate can reach up to 200 MB/s, and a 4K high-definition movie can be uploaded or copied within a minute.

The company has also revealed that the Xiaomi Mobile SSD 1TB is compatible with several different types of devices, including those running Windows 7 or later, macOS X 10.6 or later, Android 9 or later, Linux, and more.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 could come with massive internal storage

Samsung is gearing up to announce its next-generation foldable smartphone in the market which is expected to go official in the coming months in the form of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

While the official launch is still months away, there have been several leaks and reports that have revealed some key information about the upcoming phones. Now, a new report sheds light on the internal storage of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 smartphone.

It is being reported that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 will come with 1TB of internal storage for the top-end model. This is likely because the device isn’t expected to have support for a microSD card for expanding the storage capacity.

This won’t be the first smartphone from Samsung to have 1TB internal storage. The Galaxy S22 Ultra also comes with a 1TB storage option but such massive storage capacity was first offered in the Galaxy S10 Plus.

The South Korean giant will continue to offer 256GB and 512GB of internal storage options and the 1TB storage option will be added. In that case, the device could cost somewhere around $2,000 given that the 512GB storage model costs $1,899.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is expected to have the same display sizes as its predecessor, featuring a 7.6-inch internal and 6.2-inch external screen. But the phone is said to have a smaller and lighter hinge, narrower bezels, and a wide aspect ratio.

It is most likely to come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and have a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor on the back panel, coupled with a better telephoto lens with 3x zoom support.

The phone is said to run the Android 12 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own One UI custom user interface on top. It could be powered by a 4,400mAh capacity battery with 25W fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series storage and color options leaked ahead of launch

Samsung is gearing up to launch its next-generation Galaxy S-series smartphones which are likely to happen in February next year, about a month after the company launches the much-delayed Galaxy S21 FE phone.

Almost everything about the upcoming smartphones has been leaked online ahead of them getting launched. Now, some more details have surfaced related to the storage options and color options of the Galaxy S22 lineup.

New information coming from tipster Snoopy, the Samsung Galaxy S22 will top out at 512GB of internal storage. The standard model with 8GB LPDDR5X DRAM will come with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage.

Further, it is also being claimed that the smartphone will be made available in four color options — Pink Gold, Green, Black, and White. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is tipped to offer the same storage configurations and color options.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is claimed to have two models — 12GB RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, and a 16GB RAM model with 512GB of internal storage. It will come in Dark Red, Black, and White color option but some reports have also pointed to a new Green color option.

Samsung was rumored to have a 1TB storage model in the lineup as Apple has now launched the iPhone 13 series which packs up to 1TB storage. But it appears that is not the case. For those who are unaware, Samsung had offered 1TB storage with the Galaxy S10 series but after that, it is not offering such high internal storage.

All the models in the Galaxy S22 series will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset or the unannounced Samsung Exynos 2200 SoC, depending on the region.

Coming to the pricing, rumors indicate that the upcoming Galaxy S-series flagship phones could cost the same as the Galaxy S21 lineup with the price starting at $799. To know for sure, we will have to wait a bit longer.
