The Google Pixel 7a is the latest entry in the Pixel 7 series and is the mid range model in the lineup. This device is the most affordable in the series thanks to certain corners that the company cutting corners to keep its cost low. But one of these areas apparently includes its chipset, which on paper, is the same processor featured on its higher end siblings. So let’s have a look.

The news arrives from tipster Kamila (@Za_Raczke) who found that the Tensor G2 equipped on the Pixel 7a is a different variant than the base or Pro models. This chip version on the Pixel 7a might be an underpowered variant that might perform slightly worse. Despite carrying the Tensor G2 moniker, it appears that Google has developed a more affordable version of the chipset to further cut down on costs.

For those unaware, Samsung is the manufacturing partner for this chipset and even helped co-develop the original Tensor G2. Thanks to Samsung’s semiconductor expertise, the chip also features its FOPLP-PoP technology. However, the Tensor G2 on the Pixel 7a reportedly features a cheaper and slightly worse IPOP packing. This version is thicker, larger, and even produces more heat compared to the more advanced FOPLP. Unfortunately, we still have no idea what this means in term of actual performance in real world scenarios.

The new Tensor G2 chipset version is likely using this new IPOP package to save costs for Google. Although, this move might costs its users as the Pixel 7a could potentially run marginally slower than the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro and may have heating issues as well. Google Pixel Fold full specifications, price, availability details leaked before May 10 launch

Tech enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the launch of the Google Pixel Fold, the first foldable phone from the search giant, which is rumored to happen on May 10. Though Google has not officially announced any details regarding the device, leaks and rumors about the specifications of the phone have been circulating online for some time now. A recent leak by popular tipster Jon Prosser has revealed almost everything about the Pixel Fold ahead of its launch.

Google Pixel Fold specifications (rumored)

According to Prosser, the Google Pixel Fold will come with a 5.8-inch OLED cover screen with a resolution of 2092 x 1080 pixels, a 17.4:9 aspect ratio, a 408 ppi pixel density, and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the inside, it will have a larger 7.6-inch OLED foldable screen with a resolution of 2208 x 1840 pixels, a 6:5 aspect ratio, 380 ppi pixel density, a 120Hz refresh rate, and also has a UTG (ultrathin glass) layer.

Shown above is a leaked video of the Pixel Fold that surfaced on social media sites recently. The foldable phone is expected to be powered by the Tensor G2 processor and equipped with a Titan M2 security chip and LPPDR5 RAM.

The Pixel Fold will sport a triple-camera setup on the back with a 48-megapixel primary camera with OIS, a 10.8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10.8-megapixel telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. It will have a 9.5-megapixel front camera on the cover screen and an 8-megapixelfront camera on the inner screen.

Readers can checkout the source link to see the photography features that will be available on the Pixel Fold. The leak further states that it will arrive with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication and will run on Android 13.

In terms of battery life, the Pixel Fold is expected to offer over 24 hours of usage on a single charge. The dimensions of the device will be 5.5″ x 3.1″ x 0.5″ when folded, and it will weigh around 283 grams.

Google Pixel Fold price, availability (rumored)

The Google Pixel Fold is expected to come in two variants. The 12GB + 256GB model will reportedly be priced at $1799 and will be available in Obsidian and Chalk colors. The 12GB + 512GB variant will cost $1919 and will be available only in the Obsidian color option.

Prosser also revealed that the first teasers of the Pixel Fold may surface on April 26. Its pre-order is expected to begin on May 10, the day it gets announced. Carriers and Google’s partnered stores are expected to begin pre-orders of the Pixel Fold on May 30. Finally, it will go on sale starting June 27. Those who purchase the Pixel Fold will reportedly get a Pixel Watch for free.

Google Pixel 7a leaked renders showcase its three color variants

Google recently confirmed that it will hold its next I/O developers conference on May 10. The Pixel 7a midranger is said to be one of the devices that may go official at the event. A month ahead of its expected announcement, MySmartPrice and tipster OnLeaks have collaborated to leak the press renders of the smartphone.

The Google Pixel 7a can be seen in grey, white, and blue colour options in the leaked renders. As far as design is concerned, it is not too different from the Pixel 6a from 2022. However, if reports are to be believed, the major changes will be seen in the hardware specifications of the device.

The leaked images show that the Pixel 7a has a punch-hole screen, which is integrated with a fingerprint sensor and a raised camera bar on the back. The right side of the device features a power button and a volume controller. The other sides of the phone are not visible in the leaked renders.

The rumored specifications of the Google Pixel 7a suggest that the phone will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display capable of producing a Full HD+ resolution with a 90Hz refresh rate. The dual-camera setup on the back is likely to feature a 64-megapixel Sony iMX787 primary camera and a 12-megapixel Sony IMX712 ultra-wide snapper. The device is speculated to arrive with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Pixel 7a will have the Tensor G2 chipset, which also powers its flagship siblings, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. The 7a is likely to come in 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage options. Both models are expected to offer 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM.

Mystery Google Pixel Phone spotted at FCC, Could be Pixel 7a

Four variants of an upcoming Google Pixel phone have been found in the FCC certification platform database. The three variants have model numbers, such as G0DZQ, GHL1X, and GWKK3. Each one of them has a separate listing at FCC. One of them mentions the model number of the device as G82U8.

The following document submitted to the FCC reads, “FCC ID: A4RG0DZQ (parent model for NFC), FCC ID: A4RGWKK3 (parent model for BT/WLAN) and FCC ID: A4RGHL1X (variant model) use the same identical internal printed circuit board layouts, while the variant models depopulates mmWave related components and populated a different MHB ENDC module, details are available in the operational description.”

A recent report said that the Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold will be released in 2023, possibly in April or May. While it appears that all four variants that have appeared on the FCC belong to the same Pixel phone, the details are so less that it cannot be confirmed whether the listings belong to the Pixel 7a or Pixel Fold.

However, the devices tested by the FCC have serial numbers beginning with “28291FQHN” or “28251FQHN.” A hands-on video of the Pixel 7a surfaced last month. The device carried a similar serial number beginning with “2A281FQHN.” As a result, it appears that the Pixel 7a variants have been certified by the FCC.

Rumors surrounding the Pixel 7a have claimed that it has a 90Hz OLED display, an 8-megapixel front camera, and a dual-camera setup featuring a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 main camera and a Sony IMX712 ultra-wide lens on the back. It is likely to feature the Tensor G2 chip and support 5W wireless charging.

Google Pixel 7a RAM, Storage Leak Reveals it Could be Most Powerful A-Series Pixel Phone

A hands-on video of the forthcoming Google Pixel 7a surfaced in a private Facebook group from Vietnam. The leaked video gave a look at the pre-production unit of the Pixel 7a. As far as the specs are concerned, the video clip only revealed one thing about the device, which is that its screen supports a 90Hz refresh rate. As per a tweet released by tipster Chun, Google has remotely locked the leaked Pixel 7a.

Since the device has been remotely locked, it does not boot to the homescreen. As can be seen in the video, turning on the device does not go past the fastboot menu. Interestingly, the fastboot menu has revealed key information on its RAM and storage capacities.

It has now been revealed that the Pixel 7a is equipped with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM supplied by Samsung. In addition, it has 128 GB of UFS storage (could be UFS 3.1) by Micron. The “Lynx” codename, which belongs to the Pixel 7a, is also seen in the fastboot menu.

The Pixel 6a, which debuted last year, has a 60Hz FHD+ display, the first-generation Tensor chipset, and 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. In comparison, the Pixel 7a will be a more powerful device since it is expected to feature a 90Hz FHD+ screen, the latest Tensor G2 chip, and faster LPDDR5 RAM.

Reports also say that the Pixel 7a’s rear shell will have a new dual-camera system with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 main camera and a Sony IMX712 ultra-wide camera. While there is no information on its battery capacity, it is said to support wireless charging.

Google clarifies the Tensor G2 is a 5nm process chip and not 4nm

Google last week announced the Pixel 7 series with a new Tensor G2 chipset under the hood. The much-anticipated launch threw up some details about the self-developed chipset but one misconception was that the chipset is built on a 4nm Samsung process. This may not be unconnected to earlier rumors that the second-generation Tensor chip will be built on a 4nm process. Google has now clarified that the Tensor G2 actually uses a 5nm process technology.

According to Android Authority, a Google spokesperson has confirmed that the Tensor G2 is built on the 5nm process. The exec further disclosed that the chip was developed specifically for real-world use cases with improvement in its performance and energy efficiency. This approach also enables the US firm to add new capabilities while taking a step forward in machine learning using its next-generation TPU and G2.

So, Tensor G2 is actually a 5nm process chip. However, Google is yet to officially reveal the exact node process and manufacturer. There is no doubt, though, that Samsung is Google’s main partner in this regard. On Samsung’s roadmap, there are two 5nm process nodes, the 5LPE used by the original Tensor and the subsequent 5LPP. It is not clear at the moment which node process Tensor G2 uses.

This should come as a surprise, though, as the current process used on existing flagship processors like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 220 is the 4nm process. The reduction in size makes these 4nm processors potentially more powerful than 5nm chips. The next-gen processors are expected to migrate to a 3nm process with the associated increase in performance and energy consumption.

Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro renders emerge once again, this time without watermark

The rumor mill is now actively spilling information about the Pixel 7 series ahead of its Oct. 6 global launch event. 91mobiles recently published to release the press renders of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Now, well-known tipster Evan Blass has shared press renders of the Pixel 7 duo. Unlike the previously seen images, the new images do not have a watermark.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have a similar design language. Both phones have a punch-hole display on the front. While the Pixel 7 has a flat screen, the Pro model’s display has a slight curvature.

There is a protruding camera bar on the backside of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. The vanilla gets a dual-camera system, while the company is offering a triple camera unit on the Pro variant. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro come in Obsidian (black) and Snow (white) colors. The vanilla model will also come in Lemongrass, whereas the Pro edition will arrive in Hazel as well.

Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro specifications, price (rumored)

The Pixel 7v will arrive with a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED 90Hz display, whereas the Pixel 7 Pro will be equipped with a 6.7-inch QHD+ OLED 120Hz screen. Both phones will feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Tensor G2 chip powers both smartphones. Both models will come preloaded with the Android 13 OS.

The Pixel 7 Pro will have a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto snapper on the back. The Pixel 7 will feature the same main camera and the ultra-wide on its rear shell.

The Pixel 7 series will come with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. The vanilla model will house a 4,700mAh battery, while the Pro model will pack a 5,000mAh battery. Both smartphones will support 33W fast charging and wireless charging. Both models are expected to start at $599 and $899, respectively.
