Amazfit has launched the Amazfit Active 3 Premium, a compact smartwatch aimed at beginner runners and users who combine running with strength or studio workouts. The watch focuses on structured training, navigation, and health tracking while keeping the design simple enough for everyday use.

The Active 3 Premium includes built-in running workouts and Zepp Coach adaptive training plans. These plans adjust based on performance and recovery and support goals ranging from 5K to full marathon distances. Running metrics include posture tracking, running power, lactate threshold, ground contact time, rhythm analysis, and balance monitoring. These insights help users understand effort, improve form, and reduce injury risk over time. The watch also supports virtual pacer, smart trajectory correction, track run mode, and running gear management.

Sleep tracking includes heart rate variability, breathing quality, sleep stages, naps, and sleep score. BioCharge provides a daily readiness score based on activity and recovery. Additional metrics include VO₂ Max, training load, training effect, and training stress balance. One tap measurement can check heart rate, stress, blood oxygen, and breathing rate in 45 seconds.

The watch supports more than 170 sports modes, including running, cycling, swimming, strength training with auto recognition of 25 movements, HYROX training, indoor workouts, winter sports, and ball sports. Bluetooth peripherals such as heart rate belts, power meters, cadence sensors, and action cameras are supported.

Smart features include Bluetooth calling through a built-in microphone and speaker, Zepp Flow voice assistant, notifications, music control, camera control for iOS, quick replies on Android, and Find My Phone. The device runs with the Zepp app and supports Android 7.0 or later and iOS 14.0 or later. Data can sync with Strava, TrainingPeaks, Runna, and Intervals.icu, Apple Health, and Google Fit.

According to emails obtained by 404 Media, Ring founder Jamie Siminoff told employees that the company’s controversial “Search Party” feature was introduced “first for finding dogs,” but could eventually evolve into technology aimed at reducing crime across neighborhoods. Search Party launched in October as an on-by-default feature that connects Ring cameras within a local area and uses AI to identify lost pets, effectively creating a shared detection network across participating homes.

“This is by far the most innovative that we have launched in the history of Ring,” Siminoff wrote in an email to staff shortly after the feature’s rollout. A new leak from well-known tipster Roland Quandt has given us an early look at what appears to be the Amazfit Active Max, including renders and most of the core specifications.

As you can see, the watch has a round dial with minimal display bezels and two buttons on the side. According to the leak, the Active Max will feature a 1.5-inch OLED display with a 480 x 480 pixel resolution. 

The battery is where the biggest upgrade seems to be. The Active Max is rumored to house a 576mAh cell, the largest we’ve seen in the Amazfit Active lineup so far. And given that Amazfit’s proprietary OS already squeezes a solid 7-day endurance out of the 270mAh battery in the Active 2, it’s safe to expect an even longer runtime on the Max model.

Quandt also notes that it will feature a 50-metre water resistance rating. You can also expect standard connectivity options like Bluetooth 5.3, onboard GPS, and NFC. The watch will have 4 GB of internal storage for music or app data. 

As for pricing, Quandt reports that Amazfit may launch the device at €169.90 in Europe. If Amazfit follows its usual pattern, a U.S. launch price of around $169.99 seems likely.

Amazfit hasn’t announced a launch date yet, but Qunadt likely pulled these details from an early retail listing. If that’s the case, the official debut probably isn’t too far off.

Amazfit has launched a new Tactical Black version of the T-Rex 3 Pro 44 mm smartwatch in the US. The same color was released in China earlier this month as Onyx Black, and listings on Amazfit’s European stores show it will arrive in Europe soon.

The Onyx Black model uses a metallic black bezel, black hardware, and a black silicone strap. The parts blend together and give the watch a cleaner, low-key appearance. The design is the only change. All features remain the same as the earlier versions.

The T-Rex 3 Pro 44 mm supports route planning and offline maps. It uses a six-satellite positioning system for better accuracy during outdoor activities. You also get SpO2 blood oxygen monitoring, heart rate tracking, skin temperature mapping, and stress levels monitoring.

Amazfit has launched a new 44mm version of the T-Rex 3 Pro in China, offering a smaller and lighter option alongside the existing 48mm model. While there’s no word yet on a global release, it’s expected to follow soon. The new version comes in Arctic Gold and Black Gold colors.

The T-Rex 3 Pro 44mm measures 44.8 × 44.8 × 13.2 mm and weighs 46.8 g without the strap. It keeps the rugged look of the series with a fiber-reinforced plastic case, Grade 5 titanium bezel and buttons, and four physical buttons. The smartwatch is water-resistant up to 10 ATM and includes a microphone, speaker, and linear motor.

The display is a 1.32-inch AMOLED touchscreen protected by sapphire crystal. It offers a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels, 353 ppi, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Although smaller than the 1.5-inch screen on the 48mm version, it maintains the same quality and clarity.

Amazfit Balance 2

The Balance 2 uses an aluminum alloy frame with a fiber-reinforced polymer case. It has a 1.5-inch AMOLED display with sapphire glass, 480×480 resolution, and 2000 nits peak brightness. The watch weighs 43 grams without the strap and is water resistant up to 10 ATM, which is 100 meters.

The watch has a 658mAh battery. Battery life is up to 21 days in typical use, 10 days with heavy use, 33 hours with accurate GPS, and 67 hours with power-saving GPS. It comes with a 22mm silicone strap that fits wrists from 140mm to 210mm.

The Amazfit Active 2 Square has leaked ahead of its official release. Listings on Walmart and Celcom Mexico have revealed images and key details of the new smartwatch, expected to launch in June 2025.

The Active 2 Square Premium will feature a 1.75-inch AMOLED display with a 390 x 450 resolution. It has a stainless steel bezel, two buttons, and sapphire crystal glass for screen protection. The watch comes with two straps, one leather and one silicone. It measures 43.2 x 36.9 x 9 mm and weighs 31.4 grams.

The watch is expected to include the same BioTracker 6.0 PPG biometric sensor found in the round Active 2 Premium. It will support over 160 sports modes and use the PulsePrecision heart rate tracking algorithm. The battery capacity is 260 mAh, with a claimed battery life of up to five days with heavy use.

It is not yet confirmed whether this model will include NFC for contactless payments. It’s also unclear if a standard version of the Active 2 Square will be released alongside the Premium version.

The existence of the Square variant was previously hinted at when the round model was referred to as the “Active 2 (Round)” and when the Square version briefly appeared on a Zepp security page.

There is no official global pricing yet. For reference, the Amazfit Active 2 Premium (Round) is priced at $129.99 on Amazon.

The latter is a limited edition wearable that was created specifically for the Elite 15, which is the world’s top HYROX athletes. Amazfit’s latest gadget looks like a simple smart band with no screen, but the Helio Strap’s display is actually hidden inside the band.

As per official notes, the new Helio Strap offers various health related trackers that can monitor the user’s heart rate, stress levels, sleep cycle, and energy levels. This bio-monitoring works through the whole day, allowing it to process this data and offer suggestions for training schedules and recovery. But one of the more notable features is the new BioCharge energy monitoring system that keeps a score of the user’s energy. Amazfit stated that this feature can allow for better workout plans.

The HYROX Edition is also differentiated by the HYROX Race and PFT modes, along with automatic detection during strength training. Amazfit has officially launched its Active 2 smartwatch in India. We previously praised this wearable for offering solid features at a relatively low price. That is, in markets like the US and Europe, where it starts at $99 and €99, respectively.

At first glance, the Indian pricing seems drastically higher. The Amazfit Active 2 comes in two versions: Standard and Premium. The Standard model carries an MRP of Rs 21,999 in India, while the Premium version is listed at Rs 24,999.

However, the brand has clarified that these are only the maximum retail prices. The actual sale prices are significantly lower at Rs 9,999 for the Standard model and Rs 11,999 for the Premium. That brings them much closer to the international pricing structure.

Familiar hardware with some premium touches

The Active 2 comes with a 1.32-inch AMOLED display that reaches up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness. The body is made of stainless steel, and while the Standard model ships with either black or red silicone straps, the Premium version adds a leather strap, a second silicone band, and sapphire glass for added durability.

Internally, it’s equipped with Amazfit’s BioTracker 6.0 PPG sensor, which supports heart rate and SpO2 monitoring. The sleep tracking algorithms have also been updated, and the watch now includes a barometer for altitude tracking, along with support for skiing and other winter sports.

It also has support for the Zepp Flow AI assistant that lets you change watch settings, adjust the calendar, and more with just your voice. Likewise, the Zepp Coach feature provides personalized training workout plans for both beginners and seasoned athletes.

Amazfit has launched the Lava color variant of its T-Rex 3 smartwatch in India, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The limited-edition model, introduced in September 2023 in Onyx, now features a vibrant red design symbolizing love and adventure. The Lava variant retains the rugged durability and advanced features of the original T-Rex 3, targeting outdoor enthusiasts and fitness-conscious users.

Amazfit T-Rex 3 features

The Amazfit T-Rex 3 boasts a 1.5-inch HD display with 2000 nits brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi, and dual-band GPS with six satellite positioning systems. Health monitoring features include heart rate, SpO2, stress, sleep tracking, and menstrual cycle tracking. The watch also offers 177+ sports modes, smart recognition for 25 strength training movements, and AI-powered coaching through Zepp Coach and PeakBeats.

The watch has Zepp OS 4, offering support for voice commands via Zepp Flow, and offline maps for precise navigation. It is built with a stainless steel bezel, polymer frame, and 10ATM water resistance, meeting MIL-STD-810G military standards. Amazfit, a brand owned by Zepp Health, is known for its smartwatches. The company used to offer exciting products at affordable prices.

However, the brand’s product lineup got complicated in recent years with many more models and price hikes. This along with increased competition resulted in the company losing its market share.

The brand started correcting itself a year ago by minimizing its product portfolio. The Amazfit Active was the first watch beginning this new chapter for the brand.

Now, at CES 2025, this wearable gets a successor. The newer model improves upon its predecessor by keeping the price even lower.

The Amazfit Active 2 costs only $100 and brings many meaningful changes. It comes with a circular dial, unlike the Apple Watch-lookalike original which was priced at $150 at launch. It essentially replaces the older GTR series.

Let’s go through what makes this smartwatch a compelling option in the budget category.

Premium-esque Design

The Amazfit Active 2 sports a circular dial mimicking classic watches. It has a stainless steel bezel with hour and minute markings.

The wearable comes in two flavors: Standard ($100) and Premium ($130). The former is paired with a leather strap and a sapphire glass. Whereas the latter arrives with a silicone strap and a tempered glass.

The watch flaunts a 1.32-inch AMOLED display with a peak brightness level of 2000 nits. The screen offers a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels and 353 PPI.

The Amazfit Active 2 is equipped with the company’s BioTracker 6.0 PPG biometric sensor. This sensor is found inside the more expensive T-Rex 3 rugged smartwatch.

The sensor stack of the wearable includes accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, altimeter, ambient light, and temperature. It also supports  5 satellite positioning systems (GNSS).

The Amazfit Active 2 supports 164 sports modes. Users can create training templates and customize interval training. It also offers turn-by-turn navigation for outdoor activities.

The wearable can be paired with other peripheral workout devices, like heart rate belt, running power meter, cycling power meter, cycling speedometer, and cycling cadence meter.

Further, the data can be synchronized with third-party fitness apps, such as Strava, Adidas Running, TrainingPeaks, Komoot, Relive, Google Fit, and Apple Health.

Common health features offered by the watch include monitoring of heart-rate, blood oxygen level, temperature, stress, and sleep.

The Amazfit Active 2 is compatible with both Android and iOS. It pairs via the Zepp App over Bluetooth 5.2.

It has all the essential features, such as app notifications, call alerts, camera control, weather, music playback control, voice memos, and more. There’s also support for Zepp Flow AI-powered voice control in select regions.

In some regions, the wearable also offers support for contactless payments via Zepp Pay.

Exceptional Battery Life

Despite packing a ton of features, the Amazfit Actice 2 is rated to last for up to 10 days under typical usage scenario. Even under heavy usage, it is touted to last for up to 5 days.

Amazfit has launched the Amazfit Up open-ear earbuds, aimed at fitness users and those looking for everyday convenience. Unlike traditional earbuds, the Amazfit Up has a clip-on design that leaves the ear canal open, allowing for comfort and awareness of surroundings.

The earbuds use an AI algorithm to reduce background noise during calls, improving clarity in loud environments. When paired with an Amazfit smartwatch, users receive real-time workout updates and turn-by-turn navigation.

Right off the bat, the durability is one of the standout features of the new smartwatch.
