Rockstar confirms GTA 6 release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in 2025

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is officially coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S in 2025. The news was confirmed by a press release issued by Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive. However, the company has yet to provide any information regarding a PC release.

GTA 6 will likely come to PC eventually, but there is no official word on when that might be. This release strategy mirrors the approach taken for previous GTA installments.

GTA 6

Both Grand Theft Auto V and IV were released first on consoles, with PC ports following later. GTA 4 arrived on PC eight months after consoles, while GTA 5 took longer, releasing 18 months after its console counterpart.

The game’s trailer was leaked online early, but Rockstar Games quickly released an official version writing: “Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube.”

The trailer itself is a short but action-packed affair, showcasing the neon-lit streets of Vice City and its surrounding areas. According to Take-Two, GTA 6 is “the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

The trailer also gives us a glimpse of the game’s protagonist, a young woman named Lucia. This makes GTA VI the first game in the series to feature a female protagonist, and it is also the first game to be set in Vice City since 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

In a press release, Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser said that GTA VI “continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences.”

“We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere,” Houser said.

GTA 6 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated video game releases of all time. The franchise has garnered immense popularity for its open-world environments, engaging storylines, and captivating characters. GTA 6 is expected to continue this legacy.

There could be another press conference from Xiaomi this month: Xiaomi Car coming this year?

Xiaomi is reported to host yet another press conference in December. While the specifics of the event remain undisclosed, signs point to a revelation: Xiaomi’s much-anticipated entry into the automotive industry.

Xiaomi’s inaugural car has progressed to the fifth stage of production line verification (PT5)

Xiaomi-Car

Rumors circulating in the tech sphere suggest that Xiaomi’s December conference might witness the debut of its first-ever car. This speculation gains traction as Xiaomi’s foray into the automotive realm has already been officially acknowledged by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Xiaomi’s Chairman, Lei Jun, has previously stated that the company’s venture into the automotive sector will culminate in an official launch in 2024. With this timeline in mind, unveiling the Xiaomi car at the end of 2023 seems plausible.

The official website of Xiaomi Auto has already been launched, adding a layer of legitimacy to the anticipated imminent introduction of Xiaomi’s vehicle lineup. Recent reports from domestic auto media reveal that Xiaomi’s inaugural car has progressed to the fifth stage of production line verification (PT5) at the Yizhuang factory. The factory aims to complete the loading of 300 vehicles this month. This is a significant increase from the production targets achieved in November. These developments underscore the steady and rapid preparations being made for the official launch.

Xiaomi has recently showcased five models from the Xiaomi 14 series and the Redmi K70 series at two separate press conferences in October and November. These conferences also introduced a plethora of wearable devices and smart home products to the Xiaomi ecosystem.

While information about the upcoming product remains shrouded in secrecy, Xiaomi’s track record of innovative releases suggests that the conference might include a diverse range of cutting-edge gadgets and devices.

Microsoft’s Link to Windows app could turn your smartphone camera into a webcam for your PC

Microsoft Phone Link, formerly known as Microsoft Your Phone, is a useful utility, particularly if you own an Android 14-powered flagship smartphone.

The software includes the Link to Windows companion app for Android phones and the Phone Link app for Windows devices.

Developers of the Link to Windows app appears to be working on the new feature, as indicated by code discovered by the people at Android Authority. The new feature would enable you to utilize the Link to Windows app to use the camera on your smartphone as a webcam on your PC.

Although certain Link to Windows features are limited to particular devices, it’s unclear if this new capability will be available on all phones that have Link to Windows installed.

Microsoft's Link to Windows app could turn your smartphone camera into a webcam for your PC
Microsoft’s Link to Windows app could turn your smartphone camera into a webcam for your PC

There is code in Microsoft’s Link to Windows v1.23102.190.0 for Android app that indicates the corporation is working on enabling video streaming from your Android phone to your Windows PC. This would enable it to function as a webcam.

<string name="camera_activity_launch_notification_content">Tap this notification to allow your PC to stream your camera video</string>
<string name="camera_activity_button_pause">Pause Video</string>
<string name="camera_activity_button_resume">Resume Video</string>
<string name="camera_activity_launch_notification_title">Tap to start camera stream</string>
<string name="camera_activity_lock_notification_title">Unlock your phone to start your video</string>
<string name="camera_activity_button_dnd">Do not disturb</string>
<string name="camera_activity_button_swap_camera_to_back">Switch to Back</string>
<string name="camera_activity_button_swap_camera_to_front">Switch to Front</string>

These strings suggest that users would be able to launch a camera stream that allows their phone’s camera to be accessible to their Windows PC once Microsoft’s Phone Link software is operational on both linked devices.

Although “webcam” is not mentioned in the strings directly, there are other hints that suggest the functionality is somehow connected to video calls.

In addition, another new set of strings suggests that users could apply effects and auto-framing to the video stream.

<string name="camera_activity_button_effects">Effects</string>
<string name="camera_activity_button_select_effects">Select effects</string>
<string name="camera_activity_no_filter">No Filter</string>
<string name="camera_effect_auto_framing">Auto-framing</string>
<string name="camera_effect_automatic">Automatic</string>
<string name="camera_effect_blur">Blur</string>
<string name="camera_effect_face_retouch">Face Retouch</string>
<string name="camera_effect_hdr">HDR</string>
<string name="camera_effect_night">Night</string>
<string name="camera_effect_soft_focus">Soft Focus</string>
<string name="camera_effect_stabilization">Stabilization</string>

It is more likely that the feature has something to do with webcam operation because “auto-framing” is a camera effect.

Auto-framing may be comparable with video calling apps like Facetime, Apple promoted the “Center Stage” function, which allowed the front camera to zoom in and maintain focus on people even while they moved about.

ChatGPT Generated a Legislative Bill in Brazil in 15 Seconds – and it Got Passed!

In the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, a city council member, Ramiro Rosario, has boldly embraced the future of legislative processes by utilizing artificial intelligence, specifically ChatGPT developed by OpenAI, to draft a law. This approach has sparked a conversation about the role of AI in governance. Is it actually possible?

This could be the beginning of big things in legislature

The law, focusing on water meters, was not the result of extensive legislative discussion but a 15-second query to ChatGPT. It proposed practical solutions to a long-standing issue, impressing not only Rosario but also the entire city council, who unanimously passed the bill without knowing its AI origins. The AI-generated bill mandated a 30-day deadline for replacing stolen water meters and exempted property owners from charges for a new water meter in case of theft.

chatgpt

This incident, revealed only after the bill’s passage, initially met with skepticism, particularly from the council president, Hamilton Sossmeier. However, it also led to a broader acceptance of AI’s potential in public administration. Sossmeier’s shift in perspective underscores a growing realization that AI’s involvement in governance, while novel and perhaps unsettling, is an inevitable and potentially beneficial trend.

Rosario’s decision to keep ChatGPT’s involvement under wraps reflects a cautious approach to integrating AI into politics. It highlights a concern that biases against AI might hinder its acceptance. However, the successful implementation of this AI-drafted bill demonstrates AI’s potential to streamline legislative processes, allowing public servants to focus on more crucial aspects of their roles.

Ford’s Annual Performance in the US is Shaping Up to be Better Than 2022

Ford‘s recent sales figures present a fascinating narrative. As of November 2023, Ford’s total U.S. vehicle sales slightly declined by 0.5% year-over-year, summing up to 145,559 units. Despite this, the overall annual performance remains robust with over 1.8 million vehicles sold, marking a 7% increase from the previous year.

The company has already sold over 1.8 million vehicles

Breaking down the numbers, Ford’s sales dipped by 1%, while its luxury brand, Lincoln, saw a modest 2% rise. Year-to-date figures reflect a mixed picture: Ford’s sales grew by 8%, yet Lincoln experienced a 5% decline.

Ford F-150

A spotlight shines on Ford’s battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), which soared by 43% compared to last year, reaching a new record of 8,958 units sold in November. This impressive performance outstrips the industry average in the U.S., excluding Tesla, with BEVs now constituting 6.4% of Ford’s total sales volume.

The Ford F-150 Lightning leads the charge, doubling its sales to 4,393 units in November. The Mustang Mach-E also contributed positively with a 21% year-over-year increase. However, the Ford E-Transit faced a significant 59% decline.

Cumulatively, Ford’s year-to-date BEV sales exceeded 62,000 units, a 16% improvement over the previous year, capturing 3.6% of its total sales volume. This growth, while commendable, falls short of the industry’s rapid evolution and Ford’s ambitious production targets.

The Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E demonstrate strong market appeal, yet the overall sales growth rate suggests potential challenges in scaling production and meeting consumer demand in the competitive EV market. The decreased production of the Mustang Mach-E in Mexico, down 31% year-over-year, hints at Ford’s strategic adjustments in response to market conditions. In contrast, the disappointing performance of the E-Transit underscores the hurdles in the commercial EV sector. Despite a modest annual increase, its sales in November raise definitely concerns about its ability to surpass its 2023 sales figures.

The Long-Awaited GTA 6 Trailer Hits YouTube a Whole Day Early!

It took over a decade, but it finally happened. More people were probably waiting for this as compared to the final Avengers movie. One of the most prestigious games studios in the world, Rockstar Games, has finally unveiled the first trailer for their upcoming game, Grand Theft Auto 6, set in Vice City. The studio has a lot of big names under their belt, such as Red Dead Redemption, Bully, and GTA V, and this upcoming game is expected to shatter all previous records.

The game will be released in 2025, as mentioned in the trailer

The trailer was originally supposed to drop tomorrow, but the company pulled a cheeky move, surprising millions of people across the globe by just dropping a trailer on their YouTube channel. The trailer showcases the rich environment of Florida, including the swampy Everglades National Park, complete with airboats and wildlife, alongside the series’ trademark urban elements like a strip club. The 1-minute and 30-second long trailer is loaded with bright colors, guitar riffs, cars, ruckus, and what seem to be the main characters of the game. This will also be the first time a non-male character will lead the narrative of the game. A nice, modern touch depicts a lot of modern-day trends in the trailer, which not only makes the game relatable to today’s audience but also opens up new storytelling possibilities and gameplay mechanics that reflect current social media trends. The trailer got millions of likes in less than 10 minutes, clearly depicting how people were thirsty for this.

The trailer also dropped a crucial piece of information – the launch date of the game (hopefully accurate). 2025 – Mark your calendars. If you’re not a GTA fan yet, now is a great time to become one. Considering the last game made more money than some of the biggest movies in the world, one can only imagine how Rockstar will top themselves in 12 years. Time to start the countdown!

Sony rises to the top with PlayStation 5, leading the Q3 2023 gaming console market

In the third quarter of 2023, the global game console market experienced a remarkable surge, marking the strongest Q3 performance since 2017, according to a report by TechInsights. With an 11% year-on-year increase, the total shipments reached 9.1 million units. This upswing follows a robust first half of the year, where sales grew by 32% and 19% in the first and second quarters, respectively.

Sony Leads in Game Console Market with Impressive Growth in Q3 2023

Sony, with its PlayStation 5, has made a significant comeback, clinching the top spot in the global gaming console market. The company now holds a commanding 54% market share, a dramatic 42% year-on-year growth. This period marked Sony’s highest Q3 shipment volume to date and the second-best quarter for PlayStation 5 since its 2020 launch. Riding on this momentum, Sony is on track to meet its ambitious target of 25 million total shipments for the fiscal year. To further boost its market presence, Sony plans to unveil a higher-capacity PS5 Slim in the final quarter of 2023.

In Q2 2023, Sony’s financial results showed an 8% increase in sales to $18.5 billion, with gaming and network services sales up 32% to $6.31 billion, driven by strong PlayStation 5 sales of 4.9 million units. Spider-Man 2 sold over 5 million units, contributing to a 26% rise in software sales.

Meanwhile, Nintendo, despite a 15% drop in year-on-year shipments, maintains a strong presence with a 27% market share, largely buoyed by the continued success of flagship games and the “Super Mario Bros. Movie”. However, the absence of a new major release in Q3 led to Nintendo falling to second place. Looking forward, Nintendo is set to introduce an upgraded version of the Switch in early 2024 and aims to hit 15 million unit shipments for the fiscal year.

Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S also faced challenges, witnessing a 6% decline in shipments and totaling around 1.8 million units. Despite this, the Xbox Series X remains popular, holding a 72% product share in the Xbox lineup, complemented by the introduction of a 1TB version of the Xbox Series S.

This unusual incident took place in front of two mirrors, where each reflection showed her in a distinct pose, despite not using any special camera modes like “Live Mode” or continuous shooting.

Unveiling the Mystery: How a Single Snap Captured Multiple Poses

Perplexed by this occurrence, Coates visited an Apple store for an explanation. A technician named Roger unraveled the mystery, attributing it to the iPhone’s unique photography mechanism.

He explained that when an iPhone captures a photo with a single tap, it quickly takes a series of images to assess the scene. In Coates’ case, her slight movements during this rapid capture process resulted in multiple images merging into one, creating the illusion of three different people. This phenomenon was not a deliberate feature but a rare glitch, described by Roger as a “one-in-a-million” event.

Roger further noted that this oddity is linked to a mechanism known as the “rolling shutter” used in smartphone cameras, including iPhones. Unlike traditional cameras that capture an entire scene simultaneously, a rolling shutter scans the scene sequentially, either horizontally or vertically.

This method can lead to distortions or anomalies if the subject moves during the capture process. In Coates’ scenario, her movements while trying on the dress coincided with the iPhone’s scanning, capturing different poses at various times and combining them into a single image.

This story of Tessa Coates and her iPhone offers a fascinating glimpse into the complexities of modern smartphone photography, illustrating how advanced camera technologies can lead to unexpected and intriguing results.
