Qualcomm announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023 on Wednesday, reporting revenue of $8.63 billion, down 24% year-over-year. However, this was still better than expected, and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon expressed optimism for the future, thanks to the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
The biggest contributor to the decline was the headset division, which is responsible for the chips used in most high-end Android phones. Revenue from this division dropped 27% to $5.46 billion.
The smartphone industry has been in a slump all year, with analysts documenting falling shipments throughout 2023. However, things could look up for Qualcomm in the current and subsequent quarters thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon said in a statement that the company is “pleased with our roadmap and product execution,” which positions it well across its businesses. He also highlighted the recent Snapdragon Summit announcements, which underscore the company’s technology leadership in on-device generative AI and mobile computing performance.
Qualcomm is betting big on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and generative AI, with devices from Xiaomi, Honor, and more already announced or in the pipeline. Amon also said that Qualcomm will have the “majority share” with the upcoming Galaxy S24 launch.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is built with generative AI in mind and promises to enable new on-device experiences on smartphones. Rumors also point to Samsung packing more generative AI in the Galaxy S24, although the chip may still fall behind the performance of the Snapdragon chip.
Aside from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the new Snapdragon X Elite chip also promises to boost performance for ARM-based Windows laptops. Amon also spotlighted the company’s partnership with Apple, stating that Qualcomm will continue supplying 5G modems for iPhones through 2026.

Right now I am holding the Ulefone Armor Pad 2, it is a top-of-the-line device I can guarantee it. But it puts me in a bit of hard position to do a review to be honest, I mean clearly I won’t be working in the field like those construction workers, field workers, or even military soldiers. However! When I see what this tablet is capable of, it strikes me in the core that those people do need such a rugged tablet to fulfill their daily work after all, and as a tech reviewer, we aim to show you guys what we encounter every time, so let’s take a look at this device together.
Desgin
So as usual, the first noticeable feature is the rugged shell, unlike some brands that use the same design over and over again, if you know who, Ulefone does some unique patterns for the tablet, these patterns are symmetrically designed at the four corners, and every inch at the back. Just some common sense here, the patterns are not just for the appearance, they are made for protective purposes also, take the corners and those 4 feet here for example, they can definitely protect the tablet well. And of course, it has an IP68 and IP69K waterproof and dustproof rating, and also passed the military standard.
The whole unit itself weighs 1018g or 2.3lb, it’s definitely a chunky boy. If I were in those workers’ shoes, I wouldn’t complain about it, because this is the price that needs to be paid for excellent protection. And this is also part of the reason why there are many accessories that can go with it.
Featured Functions
Now what set this device apart from those normal pads are the functionalities, it is purposely built for some scenarios or I should say for certain group of people. Let’s start with these four screws here, you can unscrew them and have the hand strap on. If you are a contractor and works in the field all the time, then holding the tablet like this would be such a more intuitive way to do it, it really takes the burden away from the hand. And since the tape in between is stretchy, any palm will fit comfortably here. I really like it, in fact, I think this should also be a must for iPad if you are a heavy user.
To take a step further, there is a more professional hand strap with a kickstand, it’s better in all ways. Like the plastic piece is made of PC and ABS, it feels really solid, once paired up with the tablet, it fits really snugly. And there are 5 rotatable angles available for placement, the most used ones will certainly be vertically or horizontally. Then once it’s in position, it makes a crisp sound to let you know that it won’t shift away. If you want to put the tablet on the table, then this kickstand is here to help, the operation is also very simple, no learning curve at all. This hand strap with a kickstand is very useful in many situations, such as when you are doing a wood work that has a table for it, or even you need to hang it somewhere.
Speaking of hanging this tablet on something, you might also need to hang it on your shoulder, while embracing your hands with some other tasks. This holster that has a carrying case and shoulder strap is like the ultimate form of accessories. There is a carrying case, adjustable and detachable straps, also hand strap with a kickstand. It will benefit you while doing mobile work. I could be watching Youtube while having coffee and eating snacks, isn’t that great!
One bold move it made is putting this giant sharp LED light at the back, I honestly have never seen such a big light on a tablet, it is as bright as a torch. I am sure you have already imagined that it can be used in many ways, like when you go camping, fishing, hiking and sort of stuff, other than some field works to replace the flashlight or headlight. To use the light, there is also a dedicated button besides the power button to support it, very convenient.
Screen
Now the screen itself also has something worth talking about, it’s a Corning Glass 5 panel on the top, 11 inches large display, 2K resolution, 500 nits peak brightness. Reading these info, you know that it can withstand accidental drops and impacts, and also will have the best visibility even under direct sunlight. And this screen also support gloves mode, you can operate on it without taking off your working gloves. This excellent display covered by protective glass is actually more practical than many tablet on the market.
Performance
On a system level, this tablet has a Helio G99 chip ARM Mali-G57 MC GPU inside, 16GB Ram 256GB Rom, we have tested it, it performs like it should be, more than enough for daily tasks, you can check the metrics here.
It is the original Android 13 in the tablet, to ensure smooth and secured operation. While working, you can also use the 16MP front-facing camera and 48MP rear camera to do video conferencing, take photos, scan a code or something. Surprisingly, it supports WiFi 6, once it’s connected, the download and transfer speed will be faster than you would expect.
Battery
The battery is a big leap from the last gen, it has bumped up to amazing 18600mAh, it will last for a whole week of use for sure. What’s more, it also supports 33W fast charging and even reverse charging for other devices. One tablet in hand, while saves space for a charger and power bank.
Verdict
I am genuinely blown away by this Ulefone Armor Pad 2 rugged tablet, it is a monster pad packed with tons of features, and it has a lot of awesome accessories to go with it, all to fulfill its purpose of serving human being to do a better and easier work. Now I would like to encourage you guys to go to the link down below, to find out more features that we wouldn’t be able to show, such as the Usmart ecosystem and some of the digital toolbox, they are the features that only professionals will make full use of. Thanks for watching.

Amidst shifting market dynamics that have seen prominent Chinese brands like OnePlus and Realme strategically withdraw from the TV industry, Super Plastronics Pvt. Ltd. (SPPL), based in Noida, continues to hold a significant presence in the Indian market. SPPL is known to hold a wide number of licensed brands, including Thomson, Kodak, Blaupunkt, Westinghouse, and White-Westinghouse (Electrolux’s trademark).
In a conversation with Mrs. Pallavi Singh Marwah, Vice President of SPPL, we delve into the strategic positioning of these brands, especially in a declining Indian TV market this year. SPPL maintains ambitious revenue targets, aiming for 700–800 crores in the current financial year (2023–24). Mrs. Marwah offers insights into SPPL’s journey within the consumer electronics industry.
Mrs. Pallavi Singh Marwah, Vice President of SPPL
1. How do Thomson, Kodak, Blaupunkt and Westinghouse brands under SPPL compete and collaborate? Are they sold both online and offline?
Each brand under our umbrella is strategically positioned to cater to distinct customer segments. Thomson, for instance, is an online-exclusive brand available solely on Flipkart, while Westinghouse is exclusively sold on Amazon. In contrast, Kodak is accessible on both online platforms and through offline retail stores, dealers, and distributors. These brands are priced in accordance with their target audiences, and our range of televisions and products is designed with each brand’s long-term strategy in mind.
Blaupunkt as a brand has been present in India through its audio licensees for almost 25-30 years. It is also a brand that the middle age resonates with since high-end audio systems in cars were by Blaupunkt. It is a brand that we position as a premium one and has better audio quality since that is the brand’s forte.
2. Could you elaborate on software differences among Thomson, Kodak, Blaupunkt, and Westinghouse TVs and their unique features for diverse user preferences?
Blaupunkt 43″ QLED TV (43QD7050)
Since all these televisions are based on the Android platform, there’s limited flexibility to make extensive changes to the software. However, differentiation occurs through various introduced variants. For instance, there are distinctions like an Android-based TV or a Google TV that influence the user experience. Furthermore, differences exist in backlight technology, including Full HD, Ultra-HD, 4K, and QLED variants, which enhance the customer’s viewing experience. These factors help cater to diverse customer preferences and set each brand apart.
3. What drove the decision to increase manufacturing capacity to 2 million units annually, and how does the new greenfield manufacturing facility at Hapur contribute to this expansion?
The decision to expand our manufacturing capacity was driven by the fact that our current manufacturing facility was consistently operating at or above its maximum production capacity. To meet the growing demand for our products, the new manufacturing facility in Hapur was established. This additional space not only allows us to keep up with the increasing production requirements but also opens the door for us to potentially start manufacturing other product categories within our own facilities, which can further enhance our overall production capabilities and flexibility.
4. With SPPL’s success in FY 2022–23, what are the key factors that have contributed to the company’s growth in the smart TV market?
The company’s growth in the smart TV market in the past fiscal year can be attributed to a strong focus on backward integration. We’ve taken significant steps, such as setting up Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines in-house. This move aligns with our ongoing effort to bring outsourced jobs back within the company, gradually progressing towards the goal of establishing a fully self-sustained, “Made in India” manufacturing unit.
5. Can you share insights into the current state of the Indian TV market and the challenges or trends that SPPL is navigating in this industry?
Westinghouse WH65GTX50 Quantum Series 65-inch TV
The Indian TV market is currently experiencing a decline this year, which presents our most significant challenge. We are striving to maintain our price points despite the increasing inflation, even though this impacts our profit margins. It’s worth noting that this year is seen as a recovery year for the industry as a whole, and we are working to navigate through these challenges and emerge successfully.
6. Could you elaborate on SPPL’s revenue targets for 2023–24 and beyond, along with their strategies and desired market share by 2024?
In the current financial year (2023-24), our target is to achieve a gross revenue of approximately 700-800 crores, with an even higher goal set for the following year, anticipating a 15% increase. To reach these targets, we’ve developed a strategic roadmap that includes expanding into additional product categories that can be manufactured in India.
Specifically, regarding televisions, our aim is to secure a 10-12% market share by the end of 2024. These targets are part of our broader growth strategy as we continue to evolve and expand within the Indian consumer electronics market.
7. With Xiaomi leading the smart TV market, what unique value does SPPL bring to consumers in India?
While Xiaomi’s TVs are built around their PatchWall platform, our televisions stand out by being entirely based on the Android/Google software. This distinction offers consumers a different user experience and access to the broader Android ecosystem, providing unique value in terms of software, apps, and integrations.
8. How is SPPL preparing for the festive sales season, especially with the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup coinciding, and what expectations do you have in terms of sales during this period?
In preparation for the festive sales season, coinciding with the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, we’ve taken several measures. We’ve introduced a special-edition TV and washing machine to align with the spirit of the World Cup. Additionally, we’ve established a partnership with Hotstar, offering free 7-day trials to our consumers.
We anticipate a notable increase in sales during this period due to the World Cup’s popularity and the festive atmosphere. These initiatives and the excitement surrounding the event are expected to contribute to a positive sales outcome.
9. Beyond TVs, SPPL has introduced washing machines under the White-Westinghouse brand. Can you tell us more about your foray into home appliances and the market response?
Kodak 43-inch Matrix QLED TV
We’ve extended our product offerings into home appliances with the introduction of washing machines under the White-Westinghouse brand. Currently, both brands, White-Westinghouse for appliances and Westinghouse for televisions have only one category each.
While it’s still early in our journey into the home appliance market, we are actively exploring opportunities to expand our product range and offerings within this segment. The market response has been positive, and we are committed to growing our presence in the home appliance sector as part of our overall brand expansion strategy.
We are also looking into refrigeration, air conditioner manufacturing, air coolers, and air purifying systems.
10. Considering the growing demand for environmentally friendly products, does SPPL have any sustainability initiatives or plans related to eco-friendly manufacturing or materials?
In response to the growing demand for environmentally friendly products, SPPL has taken concrete steps to promote sustainability. We’ve adopted sustainable packaging practises for our products and prioritize energy efficiency in their design, assisting consumers in conserving energy. Our commitment to eco-friendliness extends to our washing machines, which are engineered to use less water during a single wash compared to conventional models. Additionally, we actively foster environmentally responsible behaviors among our employees, emphasizing the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling materials. Our dedication to creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly future is evident in both our products and everyday operations.
Here’s the Indian TV market’s current status:
In Q1 2023, the Indian TV market witnessed an 8 percent year-over-year decline, the first in six years. This was attributed to factors like rising inflation, supply chain disruptions, and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Conversely, in Q3 2023, the market rebounded with 33 percent year-over-year growth, driven by the festive season, increased disposable incomes, and the introduction of innovative TV models, as reported by Counterpoint Research.
Xiaomi currently leads the Indian TV market with a 23 percent market share, followed by Samsung in second place at 19 percent, and LG at 12 percent. Notably, SPPL brands such as Thomson, Kodak, and Blaupunkt rank among the top 10 players in the industry.
The Indian TV market is poised for an exciting and challenging journey in the coming months, with a projected shipment of 16 million units in 2023. It is expected to remain dynamic, offering both opportunities and hurdles for manufacturers and consumers alike.

To recall, the G Power 5G (2023) was announced in April of this year. It came with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD FHD+ 120Hz display, a Dimensity 930 chipset, 6 GB of RAM, 256 GB of built-in storage, MyUX-based Android 13, and a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging. The Realme GT 5 Pro is one of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagship phones that is expected to launch before the end of 2023. It is expected to rival the likes of the Xiaomi 14 Pro, Vivo X100 Pro, iQOO 12 Pro, and OnePlus 12 in the Chinese market. The specifications of the device have already emerged through its TENAA certification last month. A new leak by Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station has revealed detailed information about the different camera sensors that will be available on the GT 5 Pro.

Realme GT 5 Pro TENAA images
According to the tipster, the Realme GT 5 Pro’s rear camera system will be headlined by the Sony Lytia LYT-T808 camera. It will be joined by a 50-megapixel IMX890 for periscope zoom shots and an 8-megapixel OmniVision OV08D10 lens for ultra-wide shots. While the leak does not say anything about the selfie camera of the GT 5 Pro, it has already been revealed through its TENAA certification that it will be equipped with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
The leaked information indicates that the Realme GT 5 Pro may not compete effectively in the photography department when compared to its rivals. However, the primary camera of the GT 5 Pro still promises a top-notch experience, as it is the same 53-megapixel primary camera that is available on the OnePlus Open / Oppo Find N3 foldable phone. It is speculated that the OnePlus 12 will also have the same primary camera.
As per other reports, the Realme GT 5 Pro will have a 6.78-inch OLED display that offers a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered device may ship with up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It is expected to house a 5,400mAh battery and run on Realme UI 5-based Android 14. It is likely to come with other features, such as an in-screen fingerprint sensor, 100W fast charging, and 50W wireless charging.
OnePlus has officially announced that its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 12, will feature a new Sony Lytia dual-layer stacked camera sensor. This new sensor promises to deliver significant improvements in image quality, especially in low-light conditions.
The Lytia sensor uses a stacked CMOS design with two layers of transistors and photodiodes. This allows for physically larger photodiodes, which can capture more light and produce sharper, more detailed images.
OnePlus is the second sub-brand under the BBK Electronics umbrella to benefit from the group’s partnership with Sony’s LYTIA Mobile Image Sensor Brand.

The Huawei MateStation X 2023 was announced in November of 2022. A year later, the company has quietly released a new variant with downgraded specs ahead of the Single’s Day sale.
This new version of the all-in-one PC features a less powerful processor. However, it retains all other specs. Let’s go through the details.
Huawei MateStation X 2023 now also comes with Intel Core i5
Originally, the Huawei MateStation X 2023 came with a 12th Gen Intel Core i9 12900H processor as standard. Its variants only differed by the amount of RAM and storage.
Whereas, the newly introduced variant houses a different processor. To be precise, it is powered by a 12th Gen Intel Core i5 12500H chip.
Unlike the i9 model, the i5 version is offered in a single memory configuration. It is priced at ¥9,499 for 16GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD.
As for other specs, it sports a 28.2-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 3840 x 2560 pixels (4K), a 60Hz refresh rate, and a 3:2 aspect ratio. This display supports touch input and up to 500 nits of peak brightness level.

Ahead of the expected launch, tipster Digital Chat Station (via. TechGoing) has leaked vital details about the primary cameras of these smartphones.
Oppo Find X7 Pro, Vivo X100 Pro+, Xiaomi 14 Ultra primary camera details (rumored)
Oppo Find X6 Pro
According to a Weibo post by DCS, the three upcoming premium flagship phones from Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi, which appear to be the Find X7 Pro, Vivo X100 Pro+, and Xiaomi 14 Ultra, respectively, will be equipped with the LYT-900 primary lens, which is a 1-inch camera sensor, and DCG technology.
For those who don’t know, Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) is a photography technology that employs two settings for capturing photos: one for bright scenes and another for low-light or dark situations. This approach reduces noise, captures more details, and results in better photos in dim conditions. On the other hand, the Lytia LYT-900 camera sensor is said to be an optimized version of the existing IMX989 lens, which has been available on phones like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro, 13 Ultra, Vivo X90 Pro, X90 Pro+, Oppo Find X6 Pro, Huawei Mate 60 Pro, and Sharp Aquos R8 Pro.
The Find X7 Pro, Vivo X100 Pro+, and Xiaomi 14 Ultra are all rumored to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The leaker has also claimed that the Find X7 Pro will debut before the Find X7 Pro. Hence, there is a possibility that the X7 Pro may arrive first, followed by the X100 Pro+ and 14 Ultra.
Google Pixel’s car crash detection feature is finally expanding to more countries. Android expert Mishaal Rahman discovered that Google has quietly updated its support page for Pixel car crash detection to include five new countries: Austria, Belgium, India, Portugal, and Switzerland. This brings the total number of countries where the car safety feature is available to 20.
However, the feature is still limited to 11 languages and is only available on Pixel 4a and newer models in new countries—even though car crash detection supports Pixel models as old as the Pixel 3.
What is Pixel Car Crash Detection?
Car crash detection is a safety feature in the Personal Safety app on Pixel phones. When turned on, it uses sensors to detect a crash. If one is detected, the phone vibrates and rings loudly. You have 60 seconds to swipe “I’m OK” or “Call 911.” If you don’t respond, the phone automatically dials the local emergency services, and shares your real-time location.
If you tap “I’m OK,” you will be prompted to choose between three options: “No crash,” “Minor crash,” and “Call 112.”
If you do call emergency services, you will again have prompts to choose whether it’s a “Medical,” “Fire,” or “Police” emergency, so you can alert emergency responders without speaking. You can also set up emergency contacts and share your status with them in an accident.
Pixel’s car crash detection feature was first introduced in 2019 and has been praised for its accuracy and reliability. Apple added a similar feature to its iPhones in 2021.
This expansion is welcome news for Pixel users in the new countries. Car crash detection is a potentially life-saving feature that can help first responders reach accident victims more quickly.

Vivo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has officially released its self-developed operating system called BlueOS. The company announced the new OS at its 2023 Vivo Developer Conference.
Vivo says that it began development on BlueOS in 2018 and that the OS was designed to address the limitations of the Android app ecosystem. It is also the world’s first operating system to use the Rust programming language for its system framework.
Vivo’s Self-Developed OS: BlueOS
BlueOS has three main features: smart interactions, smoother user experience, and user data safety. The OS is designed to support large models and multi-modal interactions, which means that it can understand and respond to a variety of input methods, including voice, text, gestures, and even brain waves.
BlueOS also supports the BlueXlink connection protocol, which adopts a distributed design concept and is compatible with industry-standard protocols. This allows data to be freely and securely transferred and accessed between multiple devices.
In terms of performance, Vivo says that BlueOS has reduced memory usage by 67% and increased rendering efficiency by 48%. It also features a super coroutine mechanism that can increase response speed by 18%.
On the security front, Vivo says that BlueOS’s Rust-based system framework is less susceptible to security vulnerabilities caused by improper memory usage.
Moreover, it can run on a variety of devices, including those with as little as 32MB of RAM. This makes it a viable option for a wide range of devices, from smart home appliances and wearables.
However, Vivo has not announced any plans to install BlueOS on its smartphones in the early stage. This means that Funtouch OS and OriginOS will continue to be the default operating systems for Vivo smartphones.
