Reports have stated that the devices will be based on the Redmi Note 12 series, with the X5 Pro being a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Pro, while the vanilla X5 will be a tweaked version of the Redmi Note 12 5G. As the POCO X5 5G was recently detected on the Geekbench website, the launch appears to be just around the corner.

POCO X5 5G Geekbench

Geekbench has the POCO X5 listed with the model number 22111317PG. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC will power the phone’s international model. 2.21GHz is its maximum clock speed. An Adreno 619 GPU is combined with the SoC to provide graphics. The variant shown on Geekbench has 8GB of RAM. We may anticipate POCO releasing the handset with 6GB of RAM as well.

Android 12 is preinstalled on the Poco X5. Most likely, MIUI 13 will be installed by default. If not immediately, POCO will probably deliver an OTA update carrying Android 13 in the upcoming weeks. The single-core and multi-core Geekbench scores for the X5 5G were 693 and 2113, respectively.

Other details are still under wraps, however, considering that the device will be based on the Redmi Note 12, we can expect it to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display, an 8-megapixel front camera, and 48-megapixel triple rear cameras. A 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging capabilities, LPDDR4x RAM, and UFS 2.2 storage may be included.

MR headsets allow wearers to use real-world objects to elicit a response in the virtual world. The iPhone maker’s MR headset is expected to launch at this year’s spring event and will reportedly cost around $3,000.

That’s double the price of the $1,500 Quest Pro virtual and MR headset Meta Platforms Inc launched last year. It should be noted that neither Disney, Apple nor Sony commented on the report. However, the news highlights Apple’s continued interest in the VR and AR space, which could open up new opportunities for media partners and content creators to engage with users in new and innovative ways method.

With Apple’s reputation for technological innovation and design, it will be interesting to see what the company brings to its mixed reality headsets.

All 3 Galaxy S23 Models to Offer 1750 Nits Peak Brightness

Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S23 series at its first Unpacked event of 2023 on February 1. Ahead of that, details about these smartphones have been popping up on the internet from multiple sources.

As a result, we know almost everything about them before their official announcement. Thanks to a reliable tipster, we now even have minute info, such as peak display brightness.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series Display
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 | Source: Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter)

According to Roland Quandt (via SamMobile), the displays on all three models in the Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup will offer up to 1750 nits of peak brightness. Thus, the Galaxy S23 series will be the first Galaxy S family of phones in a long while to provide the same peak brightness.

For the unaware, last year’s Galaxy S22 is limited to 1300 nits, while Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra offer up to 1750 nits. So in terms of display brightness, the Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra will not be getting an upgrade but the Galaxy S23 will.

Anyway, the vanilla Galaxy S23 will be still inferior to the Galaxy S23 Plus in some aspects due to its smaller size and cheaper price. It will arrive with a smaller screen, smaller battery, and slower charging speed. The phone will also lack UWB, which will be present in the other two handsets.

Last but not least, the Galaxy S23 is expected to cost the same as the Galaxy S22 in the US. However, in Korea, it may see a price hike.

Apple Files Patent for Futuristic MacBook with Glass Haptic Trackpad

Apple recently filed a patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a future MacBook design that would be made entirely of glass trackpad. The patent covers a force input/tactile output interface in the touchpad area that is bezel-less and formable Made of various materials such as metallic glass and composite materials. The user interface surface can be a protective cover, such as glass or sapphire, that sits over the active display area of the display.

Apple’s patent statement #17 states that the laptop will have a glass top surface with the trackpad area defined on the glass top surface. Patent Figure 2A illustrates an example distribution of localized flexible regions defined into an interior surface of an electronic device that may be associated With force input/tactile output interface.

The design of this future MacBook also aims to reduce the thickness of the device by spreading the force input/haptic output actuators across the entire width of the MacBook and eliminating the traditional cutout area for a dedicated trackpad. This design is similar to the one LG showed off at CES The 2023 features a laptop with a glass construction and a trackpad that’s only visible when needed, and then lights under the glass that reveal the perimeter of the trackpad when touched.

Notably, Apple is already working on another similar patent that could illuminate icons on a future glass laptop. The patent would use a dynamic virtual trackpad. Overall, the patent application suggests that Apple is exploring new design options for its future MacBook focus on clean and minimalist design, while also incorporating advanced technology such as force input/haptic output interface. Apple to Ramp up iPhone Production in India to 25% By 2025

According to India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, Apple is planning to increase its iPhone global manufacturing in India to 25%. Currently, Apple is manufacturing 5-7% of its iPhones in the country, Goyal stated.

Apple Logo

Goyal praised the move as “another success story” for the country’s economy. Despite this announcement, an Apple spokesperson declined to comment. This expansion follows Apple’s recent assembly of its iPhone 14 model in India, marking the first time the company has produced the latest model in the country so close to its launch. Apple has been manufacturing iPhones in India since 2017, but primarily older models. The smartphones are being produced by Foxconn, a Taiwanese company, at its factory in Sriperumbudur on the outskirts of Chennai. As per predictions from analysts from JPMorgan, Apple could produce 25% of all iPhones globally in India by the year 2025. This would spell great news for India’s economy, as Apple is one of the world’s biggest technology conglomerates, and this would cement India’s position as a high-skill tech market.

As part of its efforts to diversify production, Apple is exploring options to shift some of its manufacturing away from China, where the majority of iPhones are currently made. This move comes after weaknesses in China were exposed last year due to a Covid outbreak and worker protests at the world’s largest iPhone factory in Zhengzhou, which is run by Foxconn and led to disruptions in production.

Furthermore, according to CNBC, India is also considering bringing some of Apple’s iPad production to the country from China.  Although Apple currently holds only a 5% market share in India’s smartphone market, CEO Tim Cook has previously recognized India as a potential area for growth in the future.

Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra Could Feature Company’s New 120Hz OLED Panel

A new OLED panel developed exclusively for laptops was recently announced by Samsung’s display division. The 16-inch diagonal display has a refresh rate of 120Hz, a 3K resolution, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. According to the manufacturer, this is the first laptop OLED panel with an integrated touchscreen. According to a recent rumour circulating online, the same panels will be used in the next Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra.

Furthermore, Samsung claims that the recently unveiled display lessens reliance on the environment because it doesn’t require a separate plastic film for the touchscreen layer, making it an environmentally friendly panel. Since a specialised touchscreen layer is no longer required, the display’s thickness has also been decreased. These two advantages of the touchscreen are provided by the display’s integration with the touchscreen.

Galaxy Book 3 Ultra

Although the company hasn’t publicly stated which of its next products would feature the new display technology, a recent leak of the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra suggests that it will be the first laptop to do so. Because more laptop manufacturers are incorporating OLED panels into their most recent models, Samsung Display plans to create more large-sized OCTA (On-Cell Touch AMOLED) screens for laptops. The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra’s official release is just a few days away. We are eager to put the recently revealed display technology to the test and believe the wait will be worthwhile.

That brings an end to our article on the impending Galaxy Book 3 Ultra, which is said to feature a revolutionary 120Hz OLED panel. We value your dedication till the end. What do you think about this? Please let us know by leaving a comment below in your own words.

Poco X5 Pro: Everything You Need to Know

Poco is expected to launch a new smartphone dubbed Poco X5 Pro. As per reports, the successor of Poco X4 Pro will bring multiple upgrades.

The device will likely offer more value than any recent phone from the house of Xiaomi. Just like its predecessor, it will be based on the current-gen Redmi Note Pro series, which happens to be Redmi Note 12 Pro series.

Therefore, the Poco X5 Pro will share its design with the Redmi Note 12 Pro and will arrive in Poco-exclusive colors and finishes. We can clearly see this in the recent promotional leaks by the brand.

Poco X5 Pro 5G live shot 2
Poco X5 Pro

Based on the leaks so far, the Poco X5 Pro could be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition for global markets. This means it will come with a different chipset and camera than Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.

The handset is expected to sport a 6.67-inch 10-bit 120Hz centered punch-hole OLED display with up to a 1920Hz PWM dimming and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset paired with up to 256GB of storage.

The smartphone will feature a 108MP primary camera on the rear. This camera will be paired with an 8MP ultra-wide unit and a 2MP macro snapper.

Last but not least, the device is tipped to draw energy from a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W fast wired charging.

Redmi-Note-12-Pro-Speed-EDition
Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition

Last year’s Poco X4 Pro was based on the Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus. Therefore, the two devices were priced identically with Poco being slightly more affordable.

Since the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition did not release in global markets (yet), we cannot certainly guess the price of the Poco X5 Pro. Anyway, there’s a high chance it could cost below ₹25,000 (~$300) in India.

Poco is yet to officially announce the launch date for the X5 Pro. However, the brand has started teasing the product.

AirPods Max Shipping Times Extended by 2-3 Weeks, New Colors Could Be On Their Way

The AirPods Max, Apple’s highly sought-after over-ear headphones, are currently facing supply constraints. If you are looking to get your hands on a pair of the company’s flagship noise-cancelling headphones, you might just have to wait. According to the Apple website, all five color variants of the AirPods Max are back-ordered until early to mid-February. Placing an order through the online Apple store as of now will result in an estimated delivery time of mid-February as well. Availability at physical stores is also limited at this time, even in major cities.

Apple AirPods Max

It is unclear why the shipping times for the AirPods Max have suddenly been pushed back by as much as three weeks. After a brief period of supply constraints following their initial release, the AirPods Max have been widely available from both Apple and third-party retailers without any hassles.

Some speculate that this supply constraint could be an indication of a new version of the AirPods Max being released in the near future. Although this might be merely a far-fetched speculation, Ming-Chi Kuo, a reputable Apple Analyst, recently reported that a second-generation version of the AirPods Max is in development, but it is not expected to be released until 2024. Another possibility is that Apple is planning to release new color options for the AirPods Max, which might explain the current supply constraint. The company might just unveil some seasonal color variants for the headphones, similar to what Apple did with the Apple Watch bands.

In the meantime, those looking to purchase the AirPods Max can find them at lower prices and with faster shipping through Amazon. However, it is important to note that this could be a temporary supply chain issue that Apple will resolve soon, so patience might just work out in your favor.

Nokia has Signed a New Cross-License 5G Patent Agreement with Samsung

An arrangement that Nokia had previously inked with tech giant Samsung was set to expire in December 2022. After the previous arrangement expired at the end of 2022, the brand has now negotiated a new cross-license IP agreement with Samsung. In accordance with the contract, which covers Nokia’s basic innovations in 5G and other technologies, Samsung will pay Nokia over a number of years starting on January 1, 2023. The parties agree to keep the terms of the agreement private.

The agreement is in line with the presumptions Nokia stated in the commentary on its long-term forecast for Nokia Technologies in its financial report for the third quarter and the period from January to September 2022, which was released on October 20, 2022. Approximately 20,000 patent families, including more than 4,500 patent families identified as important to 5G, make up Nokia’s market-leading patent portfolio, which is based on more than €130 billion invested in R&D since 2000.

‘Samsung is a leader in the smartphone sector, and we are glad to have struck an agreeable agreement with them,’ said Jenni Lukander, President of Nokia Technologies. The agreement underscores the strength of Nokia’s patent portfolio, its decades-long R&D investments, and its contributions to cellular standards and other technologies while allowing both firms the opportunity to innovate.

In exchange for the ability to licence them under FRAND (fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory) terms, Nokia contributes its innovations to open standards. Without having to make significant expenditures for the standards themselves, businesses can licence and use these technologies, encouraging innovation and the creation of new goods and services for customers. So that was it for the post. Thanks a lot for sticking with us till the end.

Google’s signature spatial audio is developed for Android 13, and it allows for a truly immersive listening experience, even from such small earbuds. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Will Feature Mysterious Sensors for Ultra-wide & Front Cameras

Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S23 series of devices on February 1. Out of the three smartphones launching in the lineup, the spotlight will be on the top-end Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is said to come with a few upgrades over the current Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Samsung

Ahead of the launch, detailed specifications of the device have emerged online. Now, Twitter user @edwards_uh has shared (now deleted) the complete details regarding the camera sensors on the upcoming device.

It appears that Samsung has changed almost every camera sensor on the upcoming flagship except for a couple. The cameras that will remain the same from the current generation are the 10MP 3x and 10x telephoto units, still using the Sony IMX754 sensors.

Samsung

The screenshot verifies that the ISOCELL HP2 sensor, an upgrade from the ISOCELL HM3, is present on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, it also makes clear that the 12MP ultra-wide sensor is a Sony IMX564 and not an IMX563, as previously thought. Specifications are lacking because the IMX564 sensor seems to be brand new.

In addition to the back cameras, the screenshot also shows a decrease in total megapixels for the selfie camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as well as a new, enigmatic ISOCELL sensor.

First off, the selfie camera on the Galaxy S23 Ultra appears to use a 12MP ISOCELL 3LU sensor rather than the 40MP ISOCELL GH1 sensor on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Since this name hasn’t been officially revealed, either the app got this information wrong or Samsung has created a new 12MP ISOCELL (3LU) sensor specifically for the Galaxy S23 Ultra that it hasn’t yet publicized.

Apple MacBook Air And iMac Powered By M3 Chip To Reportedly Launch This Year

Apple recently announced a couple of new devices powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets, and now the Cupertino-based technology giant is working on launching devices powered by the third-generation Apple Silicon chips.

According to the report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is working on new MacBook Air and iMac, which will come powered by the yet unannounced Apple M3 chipset.

The report also goes on to add that the M3 chipset from Apple will be manufactured using the 3nm process and is expected to be announced later this year or early next year. The same timeline also applies to the launch of these two devices — Apple MacBook Air and Apple iMac.

A few months ago, it was reported that the Apple M3-powered MacBook Air in 13-inch and 15-inch models, as well as a new iMac, could get launched early this year. But going by the developments, it appears that we aren’t going to see the launch of this new chipset and devices anytime soon, not at least for a few months.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), which manufactures chips for Apple, has reportedly improved the 3nm processor’s speed by 15 percent and reduced power consumption by 30 percent compared to the 5nm chips. The company has already started mass-producing 3nm chips and could start manufacturing them in the United States in 2026.

Apart from MacBook Air and iMac powered by M3 chips, reports indicate that the company is also expected to launch MacBook Pro models powered by the M3 Pro and M3 Max processors in the first half of 2024.
