Moto G23 Design & Specs Unveiled Ahead of Launch

Motorola has two budget-oriented devices in the pipeline called the Moto G13 and Moto G23. A recent report surfaced online revealing the pricing, storage, and color options of these devices. Now, a new report has emerged revealing the design of the Moto G23 along with some of its specifications.

Moto

Design-wise, the back of the Moto G23 appears to be similar to what we see on Redmi devices of late. It has a triple camera array housed inside a rectangular island. Two large cutouts are arranged vertically, while the third, smaller camera lens is placed to the side.

We can see the G23 will be available in three color variants: Blue, Grey, and White. The Moto G23 features 50MP primary camera sensor with Quad Pixel technology that will offer super-sharp and more vibrant photos. The other two confirmed camera units include 5MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro.

The sides of the device are flat, which seems to be a trendy design these days. On the front, the handset packs a hole-punch display. The bezels are evenly sized on three sides; however, the chin is quite thick. The 16MP selfie shooter is placed at the center.

The Moto G23 is anticipated to have a 6.5-inch IPS LCD Display (1600 x 720) with a 90HZ refresh rate as for the rest of the specifications. According to reports, the MediaTek Helio G85 processor powers the Moto G23. A 5000mAh battery with 30W quick charging capability might power it.

Qualcomm to Soon Launch 8cx Gen4 to Compete with Apple’s Upcoming M Series

Qualcomm is covertly developing a chip that will compete with Apple’s future M-series. Qualcomm is reportedly developing a new processor under the codename “Hamoa,” according to prior reports. A new piece of information that has recently surfaced online states that the forthcoming chipset would be marketed as “Snapdragon 8cx Gen4”. The most recent specifications of Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 are very intriguing, and if the SoC functions as a true rival to Apple’s M-series SoCs, we will have some real competition in the market.

The 12-core SoC was earlier mentioned by well-known Twitter tipper Kuba Wojciechowski, who now claims that the silicon’s moniker will be Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4. Qualcomm is reportedly working on a number of chipsets, but the one that is said to offer the best performance is thought to have eight performance cores and four power-efficient ones. He does not mention, though, whether Qualcomm’s Oryon cores, which are specialised solutions made possible by the company’s acquisition of Nuvia, will be present in the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4.

Qualcomm

He further claims that each block of four cores has a shared L2 cache of 12MB and an L3 cache of 8 MB. Since the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 is rumoured to have the same Adreno 740 graphics processor as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm is reportedly not creating a new GPU for it. It is still a strong GPU, but when used in Windows notebooks as opposed to smartphones, the limitations may start to show. Even yet, the data he provides is interesting on paper, with the performance cores of the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 being tested at a frequency of 3.40GHz and the energy-efficient ones operating at 2.50GHz.

That concludes the overview of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen4 chipset. What do you think about this? Consider whether it can compete with Apple’s future M-series. Please let us know by leaving a comment below in your own words. I appreciate you taking the time to read the entire post.

OPPO Reno 8T 4G Images Leaked Online; Reveals Complete Look of the Device

OPPO is reportedly working on adding a new device to its OPPO Reno series; the OPPO Reno 8T 4G. As the name implies, it’s going to be a 4G network-supported smartphone, indicating that it might be a budget-oriented smartphone as almost no smartphone brand will want to introduce a 4G device in or above the mid-range segment. The promo image of the upcoming smartphone has been leaked online which reveals the complete look of the device. The gadget can be seen from both the front and rear sides. It offers a design which is very similar when compared to recently launched OPPO devices.

OPPO Reno 8T smartphone promo image leaked by well-known tipster Paras Guglani aka Passionategeekz. The device can be seen in the photograph in two colours Orange and Black. We can detect two substantial circular camera bumps vertically aligned on the backside. While the other has auxiliary lenses and LED lamps, the first holds the camera’s main sensor. On the device’s back, you can see the leather-like texture as well. Additionally, the manufacturer incorporated a strip-like feature below the camera module to give it a distinctive appearance. “AI Portrait Camera” is mentioned in the strip.

Coming down to the front, it features nothing extraordinary. The side punch hole cutout for the selfie camera is clearly visible, along with the bottom bezel which is relatively thicker, again hinting it is a budget-oriented smartphone. The volume controller buttons and the SIM card tray are placed on the left-hand side of the device while the power on/off switch is placed on the right-hand side. Apart from this, nothing else can be seen on the device.

Anyway, there haven’t been many leaks or details on the upcoming gadget as of yet. However, in the next weeks, we might learn more details regarding the impending Reno 8T. This may be the first time smartphone leaks have been exposed. That brings us to the end of our Reno 8T post.  What do you think about this? OnePlus Tipped To Launch A Concept Phone At MWC 2023

Mobile World Congress is taking place in Barcelona Spain from February 27th to March 3rd this year. The upcoming tech fair like CES that happens in January is a place where smartphone manufacturers showcase innovative products. Although OnePlus has not confirmed its existence at MWC, leakster Max Jambor has revealed some details about the company’s plans.

As per Jambor, OnePlus will announce a concept phone at the upcoming MWC 2023. It will be dubbed the OnePlus Concept Two. However, details about what the device will pack remain scarce at the moment. As is the case with concept products, we can expect it to pack some groundbreaking technologies and industry-first features. It’s worth noting that being a concept phone, it will likely see the light of day but we can expect some of the features to arrive in mainstream devices in the market.

The OnePlus Concept Two may follow the OnePlus Concept One that the brand showcased at CES three years ago in 2020. The latter was developed in partnership with automaker Mclaren. It sported a leather textured back panel with Orange accents and a vertically running Black strip in the middle. At the top of the back panel, the middle Black strip housed disappearing vertically stacked three camera lenses. Back then this concept was intriguing, unfortunately, it never made it to the market.

OnePlus could showcase its ambitions of a foldable phone with the OnePlus Concept Two at MWC 2023. We will have to wait till the tech fair kicks off next month.

Microsoft Hosted A Private Concert For Its Execs In Davos, Before Announcing 10000 Job Cuts: Report

With layoffs becoming somewhat common across tech companies these days, Microsoft decided to take it a step further. The company is under fire from the general media and the public for hosting a private concert for its executive employees exactly one day before Microsoft announced its plan to lay off 10,000 employees. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, popularly known as Sting, played at the concert.

Microsoft Logo
Microsoft Logo

Microsoft has announced that there will be a reduction in the workforce through Q3 of 2023, affecting approximately 5% of the company’s employees. They attributed the layoff to post-pandemic regulation of expenses throughout the world. This news is quite unfortunate, but the timing is made more difficult by the fact that some of the company’s leadership team was in Switzerland the night before the announcement. The concert had a small gathering of around 50 employees, and it was hosted at the Davos ski resort on Tuesday evening. The whole ordeal was also made worse by the fact that there were earlier statements made by a Microsoft spokesperson that previously denied any rumours of layoffs. This caused confusion and concern among the employees.

In recent months, several major technology companies, such as Amazon have made strategic adjustments to their workforce in response to the current economic climate. Factors such as economic slowdown, high inflation, and rising interest rates have influenced these decisions to reduce their employee count. However, the timing of Microsoft’s concert definitely left a sour taste lingering in the air, that’s for sure.

Google Finally Fixes Pixel 5G bug with the Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2.1 Update

Google Pixel Devices benefit from timely updates, especially those who are enrolled in the Android 13 Beta Program. The Android 13 Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) 2 Beta 2 was released earlier this month, on January 10th. The update fixed some bugs with the device. The next update was scheduled for the first week of February, however, it has been pushed out by Google earlier than expected.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

The 9MB update had two important fixes. One fix was for the bug that was forcing devices to not connect to 5G networks, even if one was available. The second fix was for a bug where devices were unable to drop an existing Bluetooth connection, even an encrypted one, after receiving a command to disable the encryption layer for that connection. The update, with the build number T2B2.221216.008, is available to all compatible Pixel devices that are a part of the Android 13 QPR Beta Program. That includes Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro

If you are looking to become a part of the Android 13 QPR2 Beta Program, visit this link here and pick your Pixel device from the list. Once you do that and see a button labelled “Opt-in”, tap it and follow the directions. Keep in mind, however, once you sign up for the program, you will have to wipe your phone to exit the Beta program.

Alternatively, you can wait until you install the upcoming stable version of Android 13 QPR2, which should be out on March 6th.

Spotify, Deezer and Other Companies Refer to Apple as Harmful, Monopolistic in Letter to EU Commission

It seems like Apple’s App Store regulations keep making app developers unhappy, time and again. Music streaming giant Spotify, alongside eight other companies, has composed a letter to the EU Commission’s executive vice president. In the letter, the companies call Apple a harmful, anticompetitive and monopolistic organization, with further requests to regulate Apple’s policies through ‘urgent action’.

Spotify News

The letter has been signed by the CEOs of Spotify, Deezer, Basecamp, Proton, EPC, Schibsted, France Digitale, and News Media Europe. The letter was addressed to Margrethe Vestager, the Executive VP of the EU Commission, and it strongly urges the commission to provide a verdict on the investigation that Spotify previously started. The companies claimed that the Apple App Store is creating hurdles for them to function effectively and grow, owing to Apple’s flawed app distribution practices. Furthermore, the letter states that the policies also affect European citizens negatively because of Apple’s high commissions for app developers and restricting them from accessing user data (which in turn can be used to improve user experience). They cited the newly cleared Digital Markets Act (DMA), urging the EU Commission to act fast for the welfare of European consumers.

This is not the first time that companies have raised their voice against Apple’s practices. In April 2022, Spotify filed a complaint, which caused the EU Commission to start a probe into the matter. They stated that Apple App Store regulations “purposely limit choice and stifle innovation at the expense of the user experience,” in addition to the exorbitant commission rates on their applications. Spotify has also previously stated that Apple’s regulations create an unfair playing field where Spotify struggles against Apple Music. Now, time will tell if the EU decides to make a statement on Apple’s policies or if it refrains from doing so.

Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro Durability Test Yields Promising Results

The Nubia Red Magic 8 Pro was launched earlier this month, in January 2023. The phone holds the company’s vision to transcend the boundaries of simply a gaming smartphone. It has a new redesigned logo, alongside other features that make it an attractive option for gaming smartphone enthusiasts. If you were worried about the phone’s durability factor, you don’t have to wait too much, since JerryRigEverything’s latest durability test sheds light on the same.

During the scratch test, the phone withstood the scratches up until level 6, with deeper grooves at level 7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. When the edges of the phone were subjected to the sharp edges of a knife, major scratches were seen owing to a lot of buttons and the phone frame being made out of aluminum. The metal volume rocker was removable as well for some reason. Also, the capacitative shoulder triggers were not affected by the scratch test, which was impressive. The Red Magic 8 Pro withstood the bend test quite well. The back glass was separated from the frame, but the phone managed to stay in one piece after all.

The Red Magic 8 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Being a gaming phone, it is equipped with an ICE 11 cooling system that comprises a composite graphene, vapour chamber heat dissipation plate, air aluminum box, turbofan, high-conducting gel, copper coil, cooling air duct, turbo cooler, and graphene under the screen. The device packs up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It has a 6,000mAh battery unit with support for 65W fast charging. The smartphone runs on Red Magic 6-based Android 13 out of the box.

POCO M3

Only the pilot testers have access to the update as of right now. The update will then be rolled out to stable users if no significant bugs are discovered during testing. Galaxy S23 Series to be Priced Higher for Korea Compared to Predecessor

Samsung is prepared to officially introduce its premium Galaxy S23 series. Counting from now, the launch will take place in just a few days. Three devices—the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra—will be part of the series. The device’s redesigned look is shown in the promotional photographs that have previously leaked. The Korean pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series has reportedly been exposed online ahead of the formal launch. Pricing relative to the predecessor suggests a slight increase.

The base Galaxy S23 with 256GB and 512GB of storage would cost 1,155,000 won (~$931) and 1,276,000 won (~$1,029), respectively, according to the most recent report. The prices for the 256GB and 512GB storage capacities of the Galaxy S23+ are 1,353,000 won (~$1,091) and 1,474,000 won (~$1,189), respectively. Last but not least, consumers would need to pay 1,599,400 won (~$1,290) for the 256GB model and 1,720,400 won (~$1,388) for the 512GB model to purchase the top-tier Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus

In comparison, the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra were sold for 999,900 (~$806), 1,199,000 (~$967), and 1,452,000 won (~$1,171), respectively, when they were first released in South Korea last year. For the Korean markets, the price increase is evident. The manufacturer asserts that growing inflation and higher component costs are to blame for the allegedly higher prices for the Galaxy S23 series in Korea. The new flagship series should cost the same as last year, according to leaked US prices. The Galaxy S23’s price in the US could be $799.

That concludes the pricing info for the Galaxy S23 series of smartphones that was leaked. Comparing the leaked pricing from several markets gives us a view of which markets have seen price increases and which haven’t. Awaiting the formal launch and learning more specifically about the pricing for the various markets around the world would be intriguing.

The Flagship Red Magic 8 Pro Undergoes JerryRigEverything’s Durability Test

The RedMagic 8 Pro flagship seems to be the first flagship in 2023 to go through the paces of JerryRigEverything’s test. The intense and rigorous durability test results seem to have confirmed the reliability of the latest gaming powerhouse.

RedMagic 8 Pro

RedMagic 8 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and has an under-display camera (UDC). It is also equipped with a fan-powered cooling mechanism and decent chassis quality. The RedMagic 8 Pro was put through durability testing by the host Zach Nelson. The YouTube video shows the preference of the host on the smartphone’s screen.

The device was put through strenuous scratch, burn, and crack tests but the phone’s screen held firm overall. The 6.8-inch screen of the gaming smartphone held firm at the end of the first two stages of the procedure.
Deeper grooves were observed at level 7 and the phone’s screen was particularly resistant to the heat. As an aside, the YouTube video provides a great view of the UDC component of the smartphone.

The smartphone’s selfie camera withstood the heat and is obviously an upgraded version seemingly better than some flagships like the Z Fold. The faux-transparent panel of the RedMagic 8 Pro void colorway exhibited some potential failings during the testing. One of the weak areas is its integrated air ducts and the 3.5mm jack.

The bend test results were quite impressive for the RedMagic 8 Pro. The rear glass, however, parted during the bend test but did not snap under the pressure. The smartphone’s display was not also affected. The smartphone, having come out pretty unscathed, has set a marker for other gaming models to be released this year. It remains the best offering by RedMagic within the segment so far.

Fire-Boltt Launches Smartwatches in Singapore and Vietnam

Fire-Boltt, a homegrown smartwatch brand in India, has announced its expansion into two Southeast Asian markets. The firm has debuted its top-selling smartwatches in the Singapore and Vietnam regions.

Fire-Boltt

The move follows the firm’s UAE expansion last year and is part of FireBoltt’s international growth and expansion plans. The company has been seeing a steady increase in demand for its smartwatches, and this move is a strategic step towards capturing a larger share of the smartwatch market in Southeast Asia.

Fire-Boltt has partnered with SmartechSG Private Limited, a leading e-commerce provider in the region, to launch operations in Singapore and Vietnam as part of this expansion. The partnership will enable the company to leverage SmartechSG’s extensive distribution network and reach a wider audience in the region.

Initially, the company intended to sell its best-selling smartwatches, such as the Visionary, Invincible, Ring, and Talk 2, as well as watches from its Ninja Series, through e-commerce platforms in both markets. The company also promises to gradually expand its presence in those regions’ offline markets by setting up retail outlets and partnering with leading retailers.

In an interview with the Economic Times, Fire-Boltt CEO Arnav Kishore stated that the company will begin exporting from its Indian manufacturing units in February. He also stated that this is possible because the company has the capacity to produce 100,000 units per day. Fire-Boltt also expects to be able to make up to 70,000 more units per day to ship overseas.

Despite being a homegrown brand, Fire-Boltt still relies on China for 50% of its components, such as the display, battery, and PCB. Nonetheless, the company is taking steps to reduce its dependence on China by investing in research and development to develop local suppliers and vendors.

Fire-Boltt plans to expand to 13 countries in the first quarter of 2023, including parts of Europe and the United States. The company is confident that its high-quality smartwatches and competitive pricing will enable it to capture a significant share of the smartwatch market in these regions.

Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi Gets Android 13, Its Third and Last OS Update

In a bit of news that will draw mixed emotions, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi has started to receive its final major update in the form of Android 13. Samsung already rolled out the latest software to the LTE version of the tablet earlier this week. The Wi-Fi-only model, launched in 2020, is currently getting the Android 13-based One UI 5 update in France, with a wider rollout projected to begin soon. Here are the details.

The One UI 5 update is rolling out for the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi version with model number SM-P610. It brings a refreshed lock screen customization menu and performance optimization to the tablet. There’s also a better color palette integration for customizing your home screen and app icons, and more. Oddly, the software update comes with the November 2022 security patch when some Samsung devices have already started getting the January 2023 security update.

Galaxy Tab S6 lite wifi

As mentioned, the Android 13 update is currently being seeded in France. However, it should spread across Europe pretty soon. You will be able to download the update to your Galaxy Tab S6 Lite by opening the Settings app, accessing “Software update,” and tapping “Download and install.”

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Wi-Fi debuted back in 2020 running Android 10 out of the box. The tablet later received the Android 11 and Android 12 updates. Since the device is not a part of Samsung’s four-year upgrade plan, Android 13 will be its last major update.

To recall, the Samsung tablet comes with a 10.4-inches TFT LCD display with 1200 x 2000 pixels resolution. It is powered by the Exynos 9611 chip paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. There’s an 8MP rear and a 5MP front camera.
