Global smartphone shipments are witnessing a new low with each quarter but Apple seems to have a lot of confidence in its upcoming iPhone series. According to a report, the Cupertino company has told its suppliers that the iPhone 14 series will sell better than it anticipated, raising the number of devices it will produce from 90 million to 95 million.
A new report by the Taiwan Economics Times claims that Apple is expecting the iPhone 14 series to sell better it anticipated. Hence, it has directed its suppliers to increase the number of iPhones it will produce and ship by 5%, meaning from the original 90 million estimated units to 95 million.
The report, citing sources, predicts that among the new phones, the highest-end iPhone 14 Pro Max will have the most stock. This shouldn’t come as a surprise because the iPhone 13 Pro Max was also in high demand.
Previous reports suggest that the iPhone 14 series which is expected to launch in September might be delayed due to the ongoing political tension between China and Taiwan. The mass production of smartphones is expected to begin this month.
The iPhone 14 series will consist of four smartphones- the base iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Max, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The vanilla and max models are expected to carry the old A15 bionic chip and design similar to the previous-gen iPhone 13. While the higher-end iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models are rumored to come with some significant changes, including improved camera capabilities with a new 48MP lens, a new pill-shaped and hole-punch notch replacement, and a faster A16 chip.
Xiaomi recently confirmed that it will launch a bunch of new products including the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 foldable phone, the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4, and the Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro TWS earbuds on August 11 during its CEO and founder Lei Jun’s annual speech. Now, a new teaser by the company reveals that a new smartwatch, dubbed Xiaomi S1 Pro will also launch during the same event. It will be an upgraded version of the Watch S1 launched back in 2021.
Today, Xiaomi’s official Weibo handle shared a new teaser poster revealing the design and launch date of the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro. The company has confirmed that the watch will debut on August 11 alongside the aforementioned products.
As the name suggests, the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro will be a new and upgraded version of the Watch S1 that was launched back in December 2021. The new watch can be seen to carry small changes in terms of design. For instance, the dual button array from the Watch S1 has been replaced with a digital crown and a button that looks nearly invisible.
Further, the teaser images suggest that the Watch S1 Pro has slimmer display bezels than the Watch S1. Moreover, the new watch is equipped with a thinner case as compared to the vanilla model. The watch will be available in three color options.
Do note that currently, the smartwatch will only be launched in the Chinese market. We are not sure if the watch will be made available to global consumers. If the company decides to release the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro globally, it’ll probably launch it during the Xiaomi 12T launch event.
The Nothing Phone (1) made its debut last month. The phone has been up for sale in European countries including the UK, and also in certain parts of the Asian continent. Now, almost a month after the initial launch, Nothing has confirmed the Phone (1)’s Japan availability.

In addition, the device will be available to order online through Amazon Japan. The official Japanese pricing of the device has not been revealed yet. In the European markets, it comes with a starting price of 399 euros.
So far, customers have mixed reactions about the Nothing Phone (1). Some really like the unique design and smooth OS of the smartphone, while others are not very impressed with the performance and build quality of the device.
If we talk about the specifications, the Nothing Phone (1) flaunts a 6.55-inch FHD+ flexible OLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC that is specially optimized to support wireless charging. The chipset is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.
For Photography, the device packs a 50-megapixel dual camera setup on the rear, while the front houses a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The device is powered by a 4,500mAh battery pack that supports 33W fast charging as well as 15W wireless charging.
The OnePlus 10T is the company’s flagship for the second half of the year. Despite being a non-Pro model, the phone is likely to be the company’s top-end phone for the next few months. Notably, the OnePlus 10 Pro, which was announced earlier this year, will also be sold in the market, placed at a much more premium price segment. So the 10T will exist in between the OnePlus 10R and the OnePlus 10 Pro.
Given that OnePlus has a flagship in a new price segment, let’s take a look at how the OnePlus 10T compares to the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer edition, which was launched a few weeks ago.
Please note that since the Realme flagship has a pretty long name, throughout this comparison, we’ll just call it the Realme GT 2 Master.

OnePlus 10T vs Realme GT 2 Master Explorer
Design
The OnePlus 10T is a flagship by all means and OnePlus has made sure to make this point by reusing a similar design as its Pro model. The device comes with a slab design with rounded corners and a large camera housing on the top left section of the back. In fact, the only major difference between the OnePlus Pro and the OnePlus 10T at the back is the placement of the LED ring flash. On the Pro model, the flash is near the bottom right camera sensor while on the 10T, it is located on the top right corner. There are two colors available – Moonstone Black, and Jade Green.
Unlike the rounded design profile of the OnePlus 10T, the Realme GT 2 Master utilizes a flatter approach. It comes with a flat-screen up front as well as a flat back. Like most flagships of 2022, the GT 2 Master also comes with a pretty large camera setup at the back. Notably, one of the GT 2 ME models features a plain leather material with a metal casing, making the design pretty unique. There are three colors available for the Realme flagship – Gray, White, and Gold.
In the design department, the Realme GT 2 Master should have an advantage, especially if you opt for the Leather Gold variant. Master editions have always been popular for their standout design, and the leather variant allows you to have a unique design in this monotonous-looking smartphone market.
Display
The two phones have similar OLED displays with similar sizes and resolutions. They come with a 6.7-inch panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. However, there’s one big difference in their panels. The Realme GT 2 Master edition model comes with a flat display with super thin bezels while the OnePlus 10T features a curved display.
Your choice between these two smartphones would boil down to your preference for a flat or a curved display.
Specs & Software
Another similarity between these two models is the chipset that powers them. Both the OnePlus 10T and the Realme GT 2 Master edition models come with one of the fastest chipsets in the market today, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1. In fact, the OnePlus 10T takes things up a notch by offering a 16GB RAM model, unlike the Realme flagship which tops out at 12GB of RAM.
Clearly, gaming and performance-intensive tasks will not be an issue on both the models, so they are pretty much tied in this department. But note that the Realme flagship also features two pressure-sensitive buttons on the side, giving it an edge in the gaming department.
In fact, if you want to read more about the performance of Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 on the GT 2 ME edition, check out our review here.
The OnePlus 10T runs on the Android 12-based OxygenOS 12.1. On the other hand, the Realme GT 2 Master edition comes with the Android 12-based RealmeUI 3.0.
Camera
The OnePlus 10T comes with a 50MP primary shooter with OIS, another 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, and finally, a 2MP macro camera. The Realme GT 2 Master Explorer model comes with a 50MP primary camera, another 50MP Ultra wide-angle camera, and a 40x 3MP macro camera. In our review, we found the GT 2 to have a pretty impressive camera setup and we expect similar performance from the OnePlus 10T as well. However, the Realme model will have an edge in the ultra-wide angle shots, given its powerful 50MP shooter as compared to OnePlus 10T’s 8MP shooter. Finally, the 3MP macro camera on the Realme model is also capable of capturing pretty good closeup shots, even better than the OnePlus 10T.
Both the phones have similar 16MP selfie cameras on the front.
Battery
The OnePlus 10T features a 4800mAh battery capacity with a super-fast 150W charging support. On the other hand, the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition has a 5000mAh battery with up to 100W fast charging.
So it’s clear that these two phones have very fast charging speeds and will offer pretty good battery life too. Unless you want the best charging speed in this segment, both phones should be good enough in this department. Unfortunately, they don’t support wireless charging, which is a bit of a disappointment considering their pricing.
Price
The OnePlus 10T starts at ₹44,999/$649/£629/€699. On the other hand, the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition retails for around the same price at $649/$543.
You can’t really go wrong with either device. Personally, we feel the design and display would be the biggest differentiating factor between these two phones, and your purchase decision would lean towards your preference for a flat or a curved display. Go for the Realme GT 2 Master Explorer edition if you want a leatherback device with a more elegant design profile, powerful performance, and great cameras. Or else, opt for the OnePlus 10T, if you want a familiar OnePlus design profile with maxed-out charging and performance speeds (with up to 16GB of RAM).
OnePlus 10T vs Realme GT 2 Master Explorer Edition: PROs and CONS
Xiaomi has officially launched a new projector under crowdfunding in China. The product is dubbed Xiaomi Projector 2S and is presently open for backing on the Youpin platform. In terms of performance, this projector uses the Amlogic T982 chip with a peak frequency of 1.9GHz. The processor is paired with 2GB of RAM while there is a 16GB internal storage onboard. Compared with the Amlogic T972, the new chipset on board brings up to 100% improvement in performance.
In other respects, Xiaomi Projector 2S has AI image quality enhancement and MEMC motion compensation. It also packs two built-in 1.75-inch high-quality, high-fidelity speakers, with Dolby Atmos support. The project uses an HDMI 2.1 interface with a delay effect as low as 40ms.
In addition, the Mi Projector 2S is also able to access the MIJIA ecosystem, and can directly control lights, curtains, and other smart devices through XiaoAi to create an ambient environment suitable for watching movies.
The Rs 30,000 price range in the Indian tablet market is highly contested right now with brands launching multiple well-rounded devices in this segment. In this price range, customers are usually looking for tablets with a high-resolution, bright display along with seamless performance and great battery life. So, we have compiled a list of tablets that deliver on all these fronts.
Best tablets under ₹30,000
1. Apple iPad 10.2 9th Gen
Apple is the current market leader in global tablet sales, which is mostly thanks to its stylish feature-packed devices and unparalleled software experience on tablets. Considering all that, it is easy to see why the Apple iPad 9th Gen which debuted in 2021 is our best pick on this list.
The tablet has the A13 Bionic chipset that powers the iPhone 11, paired with a 10.2-inch 2160×1620 pixels True Tone Liquid Retina display. It also features the best cameras in the segment. The only downside to this tablet is the internal storage, as this device comes with just 64GB of storage. The tablet has a retail price of ₹30,500 in India but is usually on sale for ₹27,900 on vendors like Amazon and Chroma.
2. Xiaomi Pad 5
Moving over to the Android camp, the Xiaomi Pad 5 is the best Android tablet on the market in this price range. It features a beautiful 11-inch 2.5K display (1600 x 2560 pixels) with a 500nits typical brightness and 120Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the tablet has a powerful Snapdragon 860 chipset that can easily handle popular titles like BGMI with ease. It also comes with the Android 11-based MIUI for Pad which as the name suggests has been optimized for tablets. It also has a quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. The tablet is available in two variants. The 6GB+128GB configuration is priced at ₹26,999 while the 6GB+256GB configuration costs ₹28,999.
3. Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 edition
The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is quite identical to its predecessor with the one difference being the chipset. Instead of being powered by an Exynos SoC, the Tab S6 Lite 2022 has the Snapdragon 720G chipset. The tablet has a 10.4-inch TFT LCD display with 2000 x 1200p resolution and supports up to 16 million colors.
It has 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage but gets access to a memory card slot that can expand its storage by up to 1TB. It also gets AKG-tuned Dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, but the most attractive feature of the tablet is that it comes with an S Pen stylus bundled in the box. Another major plus point for the tablet is that it ships with the Android 12-based One UI 4.1. The tablet is available in a WiFi-only model for ₹25499 on Samsung’s website, while the LTE model is expected to arrive soon in the country.
4. Lenovo Ideapad Duet Chromebook
For our last pick in the list, we’ve added a Chrome OS tablet. The Ideapad Duet Chromebook launched 2-years ago, however, it will continue to receive software updates from Google until June 2028.
The tablet has a 10.1-inch LCD screen (1920 x 1200 pixels), MediaTek Helio P60T chip, LPDDR4x RAM, eMMC 5.1 storage, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, dual stereo speakers, and a 7,180mAh battery. It could be said that this is the best choice for students in this price range as it ships with a kickstand case and a keyboard accessory in the box. The 4GB + 128GB model costs around ₹25,000.
In the second quarter of 2022 i.e. the period from April to June, smartphone shipments in India grew 3 percent year-on-year basis. 35 million smartphone units were sold during this period. However, the first half of the year recorded 1 percent year-on-year decline to 71 million units according to statistical data from International Data Corporation (IDC).
Although supply chain issues are easing now, IDC attributes the half-yearly decline to the rising inflation resulting in higher market prices.
As for brand performance, Xiaomi maintained its lead with a 20.4 percent market share. However, it is the only vendor in the top five list with a negative growth on a YoY basis during the same period last year. Realme came second with a 17.3 percent market share and a big 23.7 percent year-on-year gain. Vivo bagged the third spot with a 16.9 percent market share. It lead the offline segment with 24 percent and was the second largest 5G smartphone brand in the country. Samsung dropped to the fourth spot with a 16.3 percent share, however, it lead the 5G segment with a 46 percent shipments. OPPO was the fifth in the list with an 11.3 percent market share and a 2.3 percent YoY growth.
IDC says that the supply of 5G smartphones is much better than 4G leading to a higher average selling price but low demand. Online channels clocked a 5 percent YoY growth to 52 percent and this is expected to stay strong for the second half of the year due to the festive season. The ASP has reached a new high of $213 since Q4, 2020. The premium smartphone segment of $500 (~Rs 40,000) and above was the highest growing segment with an 83 percent YoY increase. Apple continued to dominate followed by OnePlus and Samsung.

These tools join Garmin’s existing health and fitness features, which include heart rate, stress, SpO2, and sleep tracking, as well as Health Snapshot, Body Battery, and Fitness Age. In terms of smartwatch functionality, the Enduro 2 retains Garmin Pay and incident detection, and now has music storage.

Another day, another outage for a major tech based company. Google saw a massive outage across the globe, with a number of its services going down like the Google Search service.
This outage had began on Monday night (8th August 2022), with a DownDetectorfinding a surge in number of complaints it received about the Google Search in the US. People using the Search service saw long leading times, empty results, and much more. Out of all the complaints raised, the vast majority of the issues were based on the Search service, while some were also facing issues on some of its other services as well. Furthermore, many people facing this issue took to Twitter to share their experiences with the #GoogleDown and #GoogleOutage tags.
Notably, certain people using the Search service received the “500” error, which basically implies a server problem. Thus, its other services were also affected, including YouTube, Photos, Maps, Drive, Duo, and more. Although, not every region saw these issues. As of right now, it appears that the Search Engine giant is still currently facing some problems, with some users still facing issues in their services sharing their experiences on Twitter. So stick around for more updates regarding this matter.
WhatsApp is bringing a new update for its messaging service. It offers a quality of life change and will offer users a longer time period for deleting messages that have already been sent. Now, one can basically delete messages that were sent a little over two days ago.
For those unaware, the Delete for Everyone option typically only works for a bit over an hour, but the period has been extended even further. Previously, this deletion option had been limited to one hour, eight minutes, and sixteen seconds. And now, the Delete for Everyone option will be available for more than 2 days and 12 hours. So, you can still remove your message and have it replaced with “This message was deleted”.
The social media giant announced this update earlier today (9th August 2022). To delete a message, simply press and hold on to the message you wish to delete then select Delete > Delete for everyone. However, keep in mind, for this function to work as intended, both the sender and receiver must be on the latest version of WhatsApp. This feature was first discovered being tested on the iOS platform last month. Now, it is finding its way to the final builds, as per the official Twitter handle.
