Xiaomi, like other big brands, offers a limited lifespan of software updates and upgrades for devices. As one set comes under the hammer, new and improved products emerge to fill the void. The Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 9, and Redmi 7A are among the new additions to this list. The trio will not receive any security or MIUI interface updates beginning on August 25.

The Redmi 7A and Mi 8 were both launched in 2018 while the Mi 9 was launched in 2019. Owners of the Mi 8, Mi 9, and Redmi 7A did not receive the newest MIUI 13 update from Xiaomi. The models did, however, receive MIUI 12.5 as the most recent upgrade. This news will come as a shocker to Mi 9 owners who are expecting that the flagship device will get one or two more updates before the company pulls the plug on software support. In fairness, the phone was launched just 27 months back, meaning the company only provided software support for a little over two years.

The end-of-support list is a constantly changing list of older devices that have completed their software life cycle. Most OEMs limit firmware upgrades to two major upgrades per device during its lifespan. This could take several years. Xiaomi’s End-of-Support (EOS) list currently includes 43 Mi and 38 Redmi smartphones, bringing the total number of devices to 81.

POCO M5 specifications (rumored)

The POCO M5 will feature the Helio G99 chipset and a 6.58-inch LCD panel, which may support an FHD+ resolution. The device is expected to arrive in configurations like 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage.

The POCO M5 may pack a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. There is no information available on the cameras of the device. For security, it may feature a side-facing fingerprint sensor. It is expected to run on MIUI 13-based Android 12 OS. The back panel of the POCO M5 will sport a leather-like design.

The POCO M5 heading to the global market will have support for NFC connectivity. However, its Indian edition will not support it. The M5 is likely to carry a sub-Rs 15,000 (~$188) price tag in India.

According to Pricebaba, the POCO M5s is expected to arrive in three variants, such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It will be available in white, grey, and blue colors. The other specifications of the device are not known yet.

Apple is all set to launch its next-generation iPhone 14 series in a couple of weeks and the company has already scheduled an event on 7th September where the new phones will be unveiled along with the Apple Watch Series 8.

Ahead of the official announcement of smartphones, almost everything has been leaked online. With just a few more days before the launch, we are still getting some more information about the smartphones.

In the latest development, it is claimed that the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max smartphones will come with support for 30W charging. This indicates a significant jump from 20W charging in its predecessor.

The report comes as an unnamed brand is sending out 30W iPhone 14 chargers to the media for early access and review. This leads to making everyone belive that the upcoming phones will have 30W charging support.

A Twitter user Kioriku claims that the next iPhone 14 Pro models will support 30W charging for the first bit of a charge cycle but will then drop down to 27W or 25W.

Apple has been trying to increase the charging speed for the past couple of releases. The iPhone 11 models support 18W charging, which was increased to 20W with the iPhone 12 models, and now we are expecting 30W charging for the iPhone 14 models.

While the 30W charging will significantly reduce the charging time for the smartphones, Apple is still far behind what the Android flagship smartphones offer in terms of fast charging technology.

OPPO just launched the A57s budget range smartphone in the global market. This launch comes after the OPPO A57 4G Indian debut back in June 2022. However, the brand is not done with the A series just yet as news has emerged that OPPO is working on the A57e smartphone that will launch in India soon.

According to tipster Paras Guglani, the OPPO the A57e will come with a ₹13,999 price tag in India. It is worth noting that this is the same pricing at which the A57 4G launched a couple of months ago. The tipster has also shared renders of the device revealing a water-drop notch at the top of the phone. Overall, the device has thick bezels, especially at the bottom of the display.

The A57e has a power button on the right edge, but the volume controls are on the left frame. The device is equipped with two cameras. For the two sensors, there are two sizable cutouts on the rectangular camera module. The LED flash is positioned close to the camera sensors.

The A57e’s camera specifications are currently unknown, however assuming it uses the same hardware as the other A57 smartphones, it will probably include a 13MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera sensor. The phone could have an 8MP selfie camera. Other than that, the A57e could feature a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 60Hz refresh rate. The device will likely have a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

Redmi is reportedly working on its first tablet. While the official name of the device is yet to be confirmed, it is tentatively called the Redmi Pad by the rumor mill. According to a report by Miuipolska, the Redmi Pad will be equipped with a new MediaTek chipset with the MT8781 model number. Unfortunately, there is no information on the marketing name of the SoC.

According to the report, the new chipset that will power the Redmi Pad will be based on TSMC’s 6nm manufacturing process.It will be similar to the Helio G99, which powers the likes of the Infinix Note 12 Pro and Vivo V25e. The G99 will also be seen on the upcoming POCO M5.

The new MediaTek SoC will comprise 2 x Cortex-A76 CPU cores working at 2.2GHz, 6 x Cortex-A55 CPU cores ticking at 2GHz, and Mali-G57 MC2. These specs are also available on the Helio G99. The new chip will include support for LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.2 storage, claims the report.

The MT8781 chip will support a 108-megapixel maximum resolution camera and a 32-megapixel (or a pair of 16-megapixel) front camera. It will offer 2K video encoding / decoding at 30fps and support the H.264, H.265, and VP9 codecs. The display of the device featuring the MT8781 chip will support a maximum resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. It will also offer other features like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, and LTE. However, it will lack 5G connectivity.

Coming to the Redmi Pad, it is unlikely to connect to any mobile network as there is no IMEI number mentioned in its FCC documents. Unfortunately, the key specification of the tablet is yet to be confirmed. It appears that it will not take too long for the Redmi Pad to go official as its serial production has started in Asia and European countries.

The OPPO A57s is now listed on OPPO Croatia’s website. The brand’s latest A-series phone for the European market has important features like a big screen, a 50-megapixel main camera, stereo speakers, and 33W fast charging.

The power button located on the right side of the device doubles up as a fingerprint sensor. The Vivo V25e features a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a teardrop notch. It has a Full HD+ resolution of 2404 x 1080 pixels, a DCI-P3 color gamut of 100 percent, a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The handset weighs 183 grams and has a thickness of 7.99mm.

On the front, the V25e has a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Its back panel has a 64-megapixel main camera coupled with a 2-megapixel bokeh camera and a 2-megapixel macro snapper. The main camera carries support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Like the V25 and V25 Pro, the V25e also comes with a color-changing glass back. Its other features include stereo speakers, a microSD card slot, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB-C port. It lacks a 3.5mm audio jack.

For instance, it has added a new car key function that enables users to unlock car doors or even control the whole car remotely. Let’s have a look at all the details.

Huawei Watch GT 3 and GT Runner have recently received the HarmonyOS 2.1.0.399 update that brings car key and door key functions. It also optimizes the accuracy of swimming distance and swimming pose recognition (Via IThome).

This means they can simply touch the door lock with their watch and it will be unlocked. However, only Huawei Smart Door Lock and Huawei Smart Door Lock Pro are compatible with this feature.

Do note that the new car keys and smart door lock keys features are only available in China, and they need to be activated from the “Wallet” in the “Sports Health” app.

The update also brings certain optimizations. For instance, users can now set multiple time periods in the “Do not disturb” mode, execute a custom running course or smart running plan by rotating the crown and pressing the lower button combination, and more.

Mivi Duopods A550, F70, & Collar Classic Pro earbuds launched in India

Audio accessories maker Mivi has unveiled three new products in India. The lineup consists of the Duopods A550, A70, and the Collar Classic Pro neckband. The new product launch comes on the heels of the recent release of the Mivi Duopods F50 in the subcontinent.

The two Duopods models have Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity and offer up to 50 hours of playtime in gaming applications. They can be fully charged via USB-C in less than an hour and the duo deliver high-quality sound. They also feature environmental noise cancellation (ENC), which screens out unpleasant noises. The quad-microphone setup in both Duopods makes talking seamless. Up to four color options are available for the Duopods A550 namely blue, black, beige, and coral.

The Collar Classic Pro neckband has Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity and supports USB-C fast charging. The neckband has 13mm drivers and its battery offers up to 250 hours of standby time. The 190mAh battery can deliver up to 72 hours of playtime at 70% volume with powerful bass output.

Passive noise cancellation is featured in the neckband and it will be available in blue, black, green, grey, and red colors. Voice Assistant support is also featured in the Mivi Collar Classic Pro as well as AAC and SBC audio codecs.

All three products come with a 1-year warranty and will be available via the Mivi e-store, Amazon India, or Flipkart. The Duopods A550 and F70 are priced at Rs. 1,599 ($20). You can get the Collar Classic Pro neckband from Flipkart for Rs. 1,199 ($15). Mivi says it will continue to set new benchmarks with its innovative new products. Motorola is slated to launch several Edge series smartphones on September 8 and that’s when we can expect the Motorola Edge 30 Neo to debut. But ahead of it, a new leak reveals the handset’s color options and design. Edge 30 Neo is said to be the rumored Edge 30 Lite and it could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Evan Blass in collaboration with 91mobiles, has shared some images that reveal the Moto Edge 30 Neo’s design and color options. The device will reportedly be available in four color options- Black Onyx, Very Peri, Aqua Foam, and Ice Palace.

As seen in the images, the smartphone has a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The back of the device has a decent design, it has a rectangular camera module featuring two cameras. The module is partitioned into two and the below part is also featuring the LED flash. On the bottom, the device is seen to feature a USB Type-C port, a microphone, a speaker grille, and a SIM tray.

Talking about the specifications, the Motorola Edge 30 Neo is expected to come with a 6.28-inch pOLED offering FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone will likely draw power from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 chipset that will be paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

For photography, it may have dual rear cameras consisting of a 64MP main camera with OIS accompanied by a 13MP ultrawide sensor. It is rumored to come with a 4,020 mAh and will support 30W charging.

The smartphone is believed to launch in the first week of September. It could also debut on September 8. We are still waiting for any official confirmation from Motorola about the launch of Edge 30 Neo.

The Corsair Xenon Flex 45WQHD240 gaming monitor sports a bendable design, a 240Hz refresh rate, and 0.03ms response time. The bendable design means that the monitor can operate as a curved or flat display. The monitor is a gamer’s delight with a 1,440 pixels resolution and features AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC.

The Xenon Flex is the culmination of a collaboration between Corsair and LG. The model has a 45-inch LG W-OLED panel that can deliver a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. The contrast ratio of the new monster gaming monitor is 1.35 million: 1 which is what we expect from an OLED display. The super-fast response times and high refresh rates are quite impressive for the machine.

The Corsair Xenon Flex draws similarities with the LG UltraGear 45GR95QE, but with a slightly better performance rating. The AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC will help to prevent image tearing during gaming sessions. The monitor has an 800R curvature but has handles on its frame for manually adjusting the degree of curvature.

We are still in the dark about the expected release date and pricing for the new Corsair flagship. It is unclear whether the model will be launched later this year, but we expect more official details later. Other details of the Xenon Flex cannot be independently validated until the model becomes available commercially.

As mentioned, the Redmi 11 Prime 5G is reported to be a rebranded Redmi Note 11E that was launched earlier this year in China. The same device already debuted in the global market as Redmi 10 5G.

We can expect the device to be priced under Rs. 16000 (roughly $200) in India. It will likely come in multiple storage variants.

OPPO is slated to launch several A series smartphones globally. Recently, OPPO A17 was spotted on GCF and BIS India websites, hinting at an imminent launch. Now, a new smartphone dubbed OPPO A17K has appeared on multiple certification sites including TKDN, BIS, and IMDA. The handset is expected to be the successor to OPPO A16K, which was launched earlier this year.

As initially spotted by MySmartPrice, an upcoming OPPO smartphone with model number “CPH2471” has been spotted on the IMDA website. The listing confirms that the device will have the moniker “OPPO A17K”. IMDA database also reveals the handset will support WCDMA and LTE mobile networks as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

Moreover, the device also visited the BIS India website with the same model number. As usual, the listing did not reveal any details about the smartphone. However, it suggested that OPPO A17K may soon launch in the Indian market.

As mentioned, the OPPO A17K has also been spotted on the TKDN website with the same model number. TKDN listing reveals the device will only have 4G connectivity. Details about the handset are still pretty short. The name of the smartphone suggests it will be launched in the budget range and may carry decent specs as its predecessor.

To recall, OPPO A16K was launched in India in January 2022. It features a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD screen that provides 720 x 1600 pixels resolution. The handset draws power from a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. OPPO A16K features only a single 13-megapixel camera on the back. While on the front, there is 5 MP for clicking selfies. The phone is fueled by a 4230mAh battery. It is currently available for purchase at $139.

Jabra Elite 5 specs, design, & color options leaked ahead of launch

New details of the upcoming Jabra Elite 5 earbuds have leaked ahead of its launch. The specifications, design, and color options of the new Jabra earbuds were revealed by tipster Roland Quandt. The Elite 5 features improvements from its previous iteration, the Elite 3 and Elite 4 Active. It has 6mm drivers, active noise cancellation, and Bluetooth multipoint connectivity.

The leaked specs show that many of the features of the Elite 7 Active and Elite 7 Pro are also replicated in the mid-range Elite 5. The Elite 5 has six microphones to support active noise cancellation (ANC) and up to 28 hours of playback when used together with its charging case. Without the charging case, the Elite 5 will deliver 7 hours of playtime on a full charge.

The upcoming mid-range earbuds support Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity as well as IP55 certification. The six-microphone ANC setup for the Elite 5 is an improvement from its predecessors. It aligns with the Elite 7 series, in addition to supporting Alexa and Google Assistant. There are touch controls on each earbud and two-color options were seen from the renders. There are multiple ear tips of different sizes and a USB-C cable as part of the package.

The release date for the Jabra Elite 5 is not known at this time but we could expect an imminent launch. Pricing information was also lacking from the Quandt leak although the Elite 4 Active currently retails at $89.99.
