Nothing working on 2 new Ear (1) TWS successors that may launch soon

The Nothing Ear (1) was the first product launched by the relatively young brand. Since then, it has also launched its first smartphone as well. Now, a new leak has hinted that the company might soon launch two new wireless earphones, which will succeed the original Ear (1) model.

Nothing Ear (1) Stick Leak
Ear (1) Stick leaked image

The news arrives from known tipster Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings), who shared the information on Twitter. According to Sharma, the company is planning on launching two new truly wireless earbuds model in the country. Apparently, one of these models include the Ear (1) Stick model while the other might be the direct successor called the Ear (2) TWS model. Sharma claimed that both models are currently in the internal testing phase in various European and Asian regions.

For those unaware, the tipster was also the one who leaked the Ear (1) Stick model previously. This model will reportedly launch in Europe soon and will have a price tag of around 99 EUR. The information was based on a leaked Amazon listing. Furthermore, the Stick version will not have replaceable rubber tips and would likely feature a semi in ear style design. In other words, this also means that it will skip the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) feature and might even be cheaper than the original Ear (1).

Nothing ear (1) black edition
Ear (1) Black Model

As per the previous leak, the Ear (1) Stick will arrive with a new rectangular case and the earbuds will have IP54 water resistance. Other features include Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, up to 7 hours of battery life from the earbuds and an additional 30 hours from the charging case, AI noise isolation mode, and low latency mode. Unfortunately, there is no finer details available regarding the Ear (2) model. However, it is likely that it will be a high end successor to the Ear (1) and features ANC functionality and more new feature.

OPPO Find N fold, N Flip monikers registered, launch likely this year

Several reports have claimed that OPPO is working on a foldable phone and a flip phone with a foldable screen. These devices are expected to launch this year in China. It seems that these devices will debut with the OPPO Find N Fold and Find N Flip monikers.

According to a report by Pricebaba, OPPO has trademarked two names, such as the OPPO Find N Fold and the OPPO Find N Flip, at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on Aug. 2. These filings do not have any other information on OPPO’s upcoming foldable devices.

The OPPO Find N Flip is likely to compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Motorola Razr 2022. Hence, it appears that OPPO’s clamshell phone may also feature the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip like the Z Flip 4 and Razr 2022.

Recent reports have claimed that OPPO’s clamshell phone has a “Dragonfly” codename. Last year, OPPO launched the OPPO Find N as its first foldable phone. It is speculated that its next foldable phone has a “White Swan” codename. Both devices are expected to launch this year in China.

In related news, the OPPO Watch 3 may debut as early as next week in China. A recent leak claimed that it will break cover on Aug. 10. However, there has been no official confirmation of it yet. The Chinese manufacturer is also working on the OPPO Band 2 and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 variant of the Find X5 Pro. Apart from these products, OPPO is also expected to announce the ColorOS 13 this year.

OnePlus 10 Pro price permanently cut down by $100 in USA

The OnePlus 10 Pro was released in the United States at $899, pitting it against the likes of Samsung and Apple. Several months later, the OnePlus 10 Pro has been permanently reduced to $799.

OnePlus 10 Pro

Starting August 3, the OnePlus 10 Pro will be $100 cheaper in North America alone. In a statement to the media, OnePlus stated that the price decrease was made to be more competitive in the market, but that the price of its flagship phone will not change globally.

To put it mildly, the new price puts the OnePlus 10 Pro in a stronger position when compared to other Android flagships in the US. It costs $100 less than the Pixel 6 Pro and has a starting price that is equal to the Galaxy S22, a device that OnePlus outperforms in terms of screen and battery capacity.

The 6.7-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED screen of the OnePlus 10 Pro has a variable refresh rate (1Hz to 120Hz). It is a curved punch-hole panel with a 20.1:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 3216 x 1440 pixels (QHD+). The phone boasts Gorilla Glass Victus protection and a brightness rating of 1300 nits.

It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC that can handle up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of inbuilt UFS 3.1 storage. At the back, there are three cameras, the main one being a 48MP Sony IMX789 main lens with OIS capability. A 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide lens and an 8MP 3.3x telephoto lens with OIS capabilities are included with it. It includes a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor up front. Hasselblad co-tunes the cameras.

On August 3, the price at OnePlus.com and other online merchants like Amazon will change. On August 14, T-Mobile, OnePlus’ only US network partner, will implement the new pricing. Now, the 128GB model will cost $799, and the 256GB variant will cost $869.

Red Magic 7S Pro Bumblebee Special Edition launched, with iconic Transformer inspired design

Earlier today (4th August 2022), Nubia has just announced a new limited edition smartphone from its Red Magic 7S series of flagship smartphones. The new model is dubbed the Red Magic 7S Pro Bumblebee Special Edition, which features a design inspired by the iconic Transformer character.

Red Magic 7S Pro

As the name suggests, the latest special edition of the smartphone features a design inspired by the Transformers series character, Bumblebee. In other words, it sports a primarily yellow color design with black racing decals. Apart from this, there are also other details that are inspired by Transformers series. A notable example is the inclusion of the Autobots (a faction in the series) logo.

While the external design is quite unique, there have also been changes made to the UI aspect of the smartphone. The Red Magic 7S Pro Bumblebee Special Edition arrives with a new theme to better match the aesthetic. Furthermore, it also comes with a new packaging box that includes an Autobot protective cover, an attachable external fan for better cooling, as well as some other accessories as well. TD Tech M40 5G High-End Version goes official in China; pricing starts at 3,599 yuan ($533)

Huawei isn’t able to make 5G smartphones because of the sanctions imposed by the United States. Because of this, the company comes out with a couple of unique ideas to be able to launch smartphones with 5G support.

In the latest development, TD Tech M40 5G High-End Version has been launched in China. As the name indicates, the phone is a rebranded version of the Huawei Mate 40 smartphone and an upgraded version of the standard model launched earlier this year.

TD Tech M40 Pro 5G High-End Version

It will go on sale from 11th August, with a starting price of 3,599 yuan. As for the pricing, the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB model is priced at 3,599 yuan (~$533) while the model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage costs 3,999 yuan (~$592).

The TD Tech M40 5G High-End Version features a 6.5-inch OLED curved screen, offering a 90Hz refresh rate which is a upgrade compared to the regular version that was launched a few months ago. It is also rated for IP53 dust and water resistance to keep your phone safe from the light drizzle in the rain.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Plus SoC, which is a major upgrade compared to the outdated Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 9000, which the Chinese company is basically forced to use on its devices because of US sanctions.

In the camera department, there’s a triple-camera setup on the back panel that includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. On the front side, there’s a 13-megapixel wide-angle snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

Best Foldable Phones 2022 – Samsung, Motorola, Huawei

The foldable form factor has finally matured, with plenty of mainstream brands releasing their own versions in recent months. Companies like Samsung, OPPO, Vivo, Motorola, and even Huawei have released multiple foldables over the past couple of years, increasing the number of options consumers have in this niche segment. And as years pass by and the technology gets better, we can expect even mid-range and low-end brands to get into this particular segment.

If you are looking for a foldable smartphone in 2022, there are plenty of options to choose from, especially if you live in China. However, even international consumers have a variety of options, in a couple of form factors like a vertical or a horizontal folding design.

So let’s take a look at some of the Best Foldable Smartphones of 2022.

Galaxy Z Fold3

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

Samsung has been the pioneer of foldables ever since the form factor first made its entry into the market. The Z Fold3 is the third generation foldable device from the company, and we can finally say that there’s a near-perfect foldable in the market. It improves the built and hinge quality and even comes with water resistance, assuring the stability of its design. What’s more, you can even add in a stylus (which has to be bought separately), making full use of its 7-inch+ unfolded screen.

The cover display also gets bumped up with a high-resolution panel and a 120Hz refresh rate, while the main display inside gets a dynamic AMOLED panel and a class-leading under-display camera.

Clearly, the Galaxy Z Fold3 is the pinnacle of foldable technology in 2022, and starting at $200 less than its predecessor, it’s a phone worthy of recommendation, i.e. if it’s within your budget.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy Galaxy Z Fold3 @AmazonIn @AmazonUS or @AmazonUK or @Walmart

Galaxy Z Fold 2

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Mystic Black Bronze Featured

Fret not if the Galaxy Z Fold3 is not within your budget. Last year’s Z Fold 2 is a competitive device for its current price, and 2021’s best foldable is still worth buying in 2022.

The phone features a similar form factor as the Z Fold3, a 7.6-inch internal display, and a 6.2-inch cover screen (albeit with lower resolution). While the phone is heavier and bulkier than its successor, it still features most of the features of the new device, especially after the recent software updates. So, if you want a foldable that’s slightly cheaper than the Z Fold3, this would be your best bet for multitasking and productivity tasks.

However, if you can extend your budget by a couple of hundred dollars, we would still recommend the Z Fold3, as it’s the best horizontal folding device in the market right now.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy Galaxy Z Fold 2 @AmazonIn @AmazonUS

Galaxy Z Flip3

Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3 frame

Flip phones have made a comeback, in the form of vertical folding smartphones. So there’s no surprise that a lot of consumers have a preference for this clamshell design over the regular horizontal folding devices.

The third generation Galaxy Z Flip3 is the best vertical folding device that you can get in the market right now. The upgrades from last year’s model like a larger 1.9-inch cover display and IPX8 certification (much like the Z Fold3) make it a significantly better device than its predecessors. On the inside, you get a 6.7-inch AMOLED 120Hz panel with a Snapdragon 888 chip and 8GB of RAM. And considering the discounted starting price of the device, we can easily recommend the Z Flip3 to those who are looking for a compact and relatively cheaper foldable in the market.

Note that, like all other clamshell foldables, battery life is still one of its weakest departments. The charging speed isn’t great either at 15W wired charging, but you do get 10W wireless charging support.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy Galaxy Z Flip3 @AmazonIn @AmazonUS or @AmazonUK or @Walmart

Huawei Mate XS

Huawei Mate Xs

The Huawei Mate XS may have seen a limited international release, but the phone is an excellent foldable if you can live without Google apps.

The phone continues on its outward folding design, bringing a single large 8-inch screen that folds out to make for a 6.6-inch cover display. Yes, this design is pretty unique and a different approach from the Samsung foldable. With a Kirin 990 chip, 8GB RAM, 512GB storage and 40MP led quad-cameras taking care of the specs department, the Huawei Mate XS is a pretty powerful foldable, despite launching a couple of years ago.

If not for the lack of Google App support, the Mate XS would have received a much more widespread release. That said, the phone is still pretty hard to get. So, despite being a pretty good foldable, you’ll most likely have to opt for a device from another brand.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy Huawei Mate XS @AmazonUS @AliExpress

Moto Razr 2020 5G

Motorola brought back the Razr series to life with the Razr foldable lineup a couple of years back. And the company’s last Razr clamshell foldable, the Razr 2020 is still a decent device in 2022. The company builds on the clamshell form factor with a larger 2.7-inch external display that’s bigger than its Samsung rival with an internal 6.2-inch panel. It’s powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 765G processor with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There is one 48MP shooter with OIS on the back and a 20MP selfie shooter.

Like other clamshell foldables, the battery is again one of its drawbacks. However, with the occasional discounts, the phone can be purchased for under $1000, which would make it a decent alternative to the Galaxy Z Flip3.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy Motorola Razr 2020 5G @AmazonUS or @AmazonUK or @Walmart

Royole FlexPai 2

Royole FlexPai 2 Midnight Black
Royole FlexPai 2 Midnight Black

The Royole FlexPai stole the thunder from the big brands back in 2018 when it announced the first foldable smartphone. A lot of us were surprised to hear a small-time brand making the big headlines, but honestly, the first generation was far from perfect. Luckily, the company’s second generation model, the FlexPai 2, improves on all the aspects of the initial generation and is better suited for daily use. The company follows Huawei’s approach in using an outward folding design and comes with productivity features like split screen viewing on its large 7.8-inch display.

With a better build quality and design than the initial generation, the Royole FlexPai 2 can be an alternative to the big brands if you live in China.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy Royole FlexPai 2  @Aliexpress or @OfficialStore

Huawei P50 Pocket

Huawei P50 Pocket Cloud Brocade White
Textured design on the Cloud Brocade White Huawei P-50 Pocket

Huawei’s Galaxy Z Flip3 rival, the Huawei P50 Pocket saw a wider international release than its predecessors. The device comes with a form factor similar to the Z Flip3, featuring a premium design, an excellent camera setup, and a no-crease 6.9-inch OLED display on the inside. The design especially is the stand-out feature of the device and is even considered by some, to be better than its Galaxy rival. Notably, it also comes with a relatively large 4000mAh battery with 40W charging, a rarity in its segment.

However, the lack of Google apps, limited availability, and 4G-only support will still hamper the phone’s chances of shining in this market. Also, even if you find it listed online, it’s likely to be way more expensive than its Galaxy rival.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy Huawei P50 Pocket @Aliexpress or @AmazonUK @AmazonUS

If you live in China, you have a bunch of additional foldable options in the market. And we feel it’s worth checking out the recently announced OPPO Find N (review).

OPPO Find N

OPPO Find N
OPPO Find N

OPPO’s first foldable, the OPPO Find N is pretty impressive considering its robust built quality, a powerful triple camera setup that’s comparable to high-end devices, and excellent battery life. Most notably, the phone features a wider 5.5-inch cover screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio, unlike its rivals in the segment with a weird aspect ratio. On the inside, you have a pretty large 7.1-inch 120Hz tablet-like display with Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Under the hood, the phone comes with last year’s Snapdragon 888 with up to 12GB of RAM, so it’s never going to be short of power. It also features a large 4500mAh battery with 33W wired and 15W wireless charging. Unfortunately, it lacks water resistance, unlike its Galaxy rival.

Another big drawback of the phone as I mentioned above is its limited China availability. But if you want to get one, you can resort to international retailers like Giztop to order one for yourself outside of China.

WHERE TO BUY
Buy OPPO Find N @Giztop

We have also seen more foldables from smartphone brands like Xiaomi and Honor. But the above list contains the foldables that we think are the best options in 2022.

If you think we missed any specific foldable from this list, let us know in the comments section down below.

iPhone 14 base model rumored to bear same $799 price tag as the iPhone 13

The upcoming iPhone 14 base model is rumored to cost $799, which is the same price as the iPhone 13. A post on a South Korean blog indicates that Apple will not increase the price of the entry-level model in the iPhone 14 series. The move, according to the leaker, is aimed at boosting sales for the model. The global smartphone market has experienced a squeeze and the tipster says Apple is adjusting to coping with the reality. The source of the information is said to come from a major US financial institution.iPhone 14

The iPhone 14 will come with a 6.1-inch display like its predecessor, the iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 series is expected to roll out soon and the decision on the price of the base model was reportedly made at the top management level. Apple has continued to face increased production costs and supply chain disruptions. There is no way of independently verifying the rumored claims at this time. Apple maintains a strong policy of tracking down leakers who sell its trade secrets.

There is a precedent if Apple launches the iPhone 14 at the same price as the iPhone 13. This will mark the second time in a row that it will be making that call. The iPhone 13 retailed at a launch price of $799. The iPhone 14 lineup includes the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max which is the top of the pick. While the Pro models will be powered by the A16 Bionic chipset, the non-Pro models will retain the A15 chip. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will combine a circular hole-punch cutout and a pill-shaped cutout for their camera setup and Face ID functionality. The authenticity of the rumored price of the iPhone 14 will be laid to rest by Apple when official details are released.

Fire risks remain a major danger in electric vehicles. Several fire incidents have been reported over the years mainly due to battery overheating. The particular incident in Florida involved a British-made EV – the Jaguar I-Pace. The car caught fire after returning from a 12-mile trip. The car’s owner Gonzalo Salazar had charged the car overnight before the 12-mile trip. The owner heard loud popping noises from the car shortly after he parked the car in his garage. He thereafter discovered dense smoke as a result of the blazing flame. Bravely, the owner was able to drive the 2019 I-Pace model out of his garage to mitigate the impact of the fire.Jaguar I Pace fire

A video that captured the fire incident showed that the fire caused some smaller explosions. This indicates that the fire could have been caused by the car’s LG battery cells. The previously reported fire incidents with the I-Pace were also related to battery issues. A statement from Jaguar says it will thoroughly inspect the destroyed I-Pace before releasing any further details.

The Jaguar I-Pace is not an EV with strong demand, but it is expected that the British automaker moves swiftly to resolve the EV fire issue.

One-netbook’s ONEXPLAYER Mini Pro with a Core i7 chip, 800p display launched

The ONEXPLAYER Mini series, which debuted as an Intel Core i7-1195G7-powered device, has been updated by One-Netbook. One-netbook earlier unveiled the RX-78-2 Gundam special edition models powered by the Core i7-1260P and AMD Ryzen 7 5800U. One-netbook chose not to sell the RX-78-2 Gundam special edition model internationally for one reason or another.ONEXPLAYER Mini Pro

But the company has now successfully accomplished this with the ONEXPLAYER mini Pro, although with a change in display resolution. One-netbook has specifically chosen to swap the 1,920 x 1,200-pixel display found in the previous ONEXPLAYER mini PC for a more traditional 1,280 x 800-pixel display.

Aside from that, the ONEXPLAYER mini Pro’s Core i7-1260P cannot play most triple-A games smoothly at 1200p, so going from a 1200p display to an 800p one would theoretically be a downgrade.

The Core i7-1260P performs better than the Core i7-1195G7 in CPU-intensive tasks. Iris Xe Graphics G7 iGPUs with 96 Execution Units (EUs) are used by both, though. Thus, there isn’t going to be a significant performance increase during gaming when switching from the ONEXPLAYER mini to the ONEXPLAYER mini Pro. Compared to the LPDDR4x-4266 RAM on the mini, the addition of LPDD5-5200 RAM might enhance performance in several areas.ONEXPLAYER Mini Pro

The ONEXPLAYER mini Pro, which has 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, is currently available for pre-order from One-netbook for $1,399. The device is also available from the firm for $1,589 with a 2 TB SSD and the same amount of RAM. It is important to keep in mind that these are pre-sale costs; eventually, they will increase to $1,459 and $1,649, respectively. The ONEXPLAYER small Pro is available in black or white finishes. For an additional $59 and $29, you may add a foldable Bluetooth keyboard or a black protective case. The company’s website has further information about the ONEXPLAYER tiny Pro.

Xiaomi 12S Pro vs Nubia Z40S Pro: Specs Comparison

A brand new flagship just came up unexpectedly from a non-mainstream brand: the Nubia Z40S Pro. Besides the latest RED MAGIC 7S gaming phone, the ZTE sub-brand released a “normal” flagship with the same level of power. It is an outstanding phone and it is able to compete with the most advanced devices from mainstream brands, such as the Xiaomi 12S Pro. We decided to put these phones together not only because of the letter S in their names but also because their specifications are similar and so are their prices. This is the comparison between the main specifications of the Xiaomi 12S Pro and the Nubia Z40S Pro which will help you to understand which phone offers the most advanced potentialities. It will be a tough fight, but there will be a winner, at least considering your personal needs.

Design

I personally prefer the design of the Xiaomi 12S Pro. It has a more minimal look and, besides being built with premium materials such as the glass for the back and the aluminum for the frame, it comes in an additional color option with a rear side made of vegan leather. The front glass is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus by Corning but, unfortunately, this phone does not offer any certification against dust and water. The Nubia Z40S Pro is built with a glass back and an aluminum frame as well, but its look is less impressive if compared to its rival. However, it is a more compact phone because it has a smaller display. These handsets come with very narrow bezels around the displays and small punch holes placed in the central part of the front glass. They look very premium and you would feel it more if you see them live.

Display

If you are looking for a display offering the most advanced image quality, then you should opt for the Xiaomi 12S Pro. The most important difference between the two panels is the resolution: the Xiaomi comes with a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, while its rival has just a Full HD+ resolution. The Xiaomi 12S Pro has an AMOLED panel with a diagonal of 6.73 inches showing up to one billion colors with a 120 Hz refresh rate, the HDR10+ certification, and Dolby Vision support. Thanks to the LTPO technology, it offers an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. Further, its peak brightness is whopping 1,500 nits. The Nubia Z40S Pro has a higher 144 Hz refresh rate, but the image quality is lower. It has a 6.67-inch display with a full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, one billion colors, and the HDR10+ certification. The peak brightness is lower too, with 1,000 nits. Both the phones feature in-display fingerprint scanners and stereo speakers.

Specs & Software

The hardware is one of the strongest points of these two devices because they are equipped with the best processor by Qualcomm: the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. It is an SoC built at 4 nm with an octa-core architecture composed of a Cortex X2 CPU running at a max frequency of 3.19 GHz, three Cortex A710 CPUs running at 2.75 GHz, four Cortex A510 CPUs running at 1.8 GHz, and an Adreno 730 GPU. Despite having the same processor as the Xiaomi 12S Pro, the Nubia Z40S Pro wins the hardware comparison because it comes in a better memory configuration, with up to 18 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage. The Xiaomi flagship stops at 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. These handsets run Android 12 with highly customized user interfaces on top, but the MIUI is actually more advanced than Nubia’s customization.

Camera

The Xiaomi 12S Pro is equipped with a better 50 MP main camera supporting OIS, but the Nubia Z40S Pro has better secondary sensors. Its main 64 MP camera (with OIS) is paired with an 8 MP periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom and a 50 MP ultrawide lens, while the Xiaomi has three sensors all with 50 MP resolution. The 12S Pro wins the selfie comparison thanks to the presence of a better 32 MP selfie shooter.

Battery

If you are looking for longer battery life, you should opt for the Nubia Z40S Pro because it has a bigger battery, while the Xiaomi 12S Pro provides faster charging speeds wirelessly, with a power of 50W.

Price

The Xiaomi 12S Pro starts from €670/$680, while you need at least €490/$498 to purchase Nubia Z40S Pro in China. Which one would you pick?

Komaki introduces new fireproof batteries after ‘incidents’

Recently, electric two-wheelers have attracted attention for both good and bad reasons. Although electric vehicle adoption in the nation has been hampered by a significant problem, battery-powered vehicles have been at the forefront of the EV revolution. This is clearly related to the recent fire accidents involving electric scooters of different brands. Now, Komaki, an EV company with operations in India, appears to have the answer to this important problem.

Komaki

This week, Komaki introduced new fireproof batteries in India as part of the solution. Beginning next month, these will be utilized in all of the company’s electric vehicles. For those who don’t know, Komaki offers a variety of electric scooters along with a few electric motorcycles in India.

The new Komaki batteries make use of the popular lithium-ion batteries, but they have a unique twist. Additionally, it has created a simple smartphone application to track battery health. The application will alert end users and dealers about the battery’s condition at any time while in use.

Komaki-Lithium-New-Technology-Battery

According to a statement from Komaki, its new EV batteries feature a configuration of lithium-ion phosphate (LiFePO4). These batteries are inherently more fire-resistant than the typical electric two-wheeler batteries. The LiFePO4 batteries’ cells’ iron content is to credit for the increased safety. The manufacturer asserts that even in dire circumstances, the batteries are more fire-proof than the competition.

Komaki also plans to reduce the number of cells in the battery pack by one-third in order to address the issue of fires. Fewer cells will result in less heat buildup inside the battery pack. As a result, Komaki asserts that its LiFePO4 batteries have a greater life cycle of 2500–3000 compared to the NMC (nickel, manganese, and cobalt) batteries’ 800 life cycle.

The fewer parts will also make it easier for original equipment makers, or OEMs, to fix the batteries in one place. This should lessen the possibility of battery damage during transit to and from repair facilities. In addition, the battery cells are balanced every few seconds by the innovative active balancing mechanism. The application will be able to analyze 250 batteries in real-time, according to business executives.

(SOURCE: Komaki, Facebook)

If the company’s data is to be believed, the LiFePO4 battery can go more than 300 miles on a single charge. Given what the competition now delivers, 180 kilometers on a charge for the Komaki SE and TN95 should be adequate even in real-world performance. But it’s still unclear how well the new Komaki batteries will actually function.
