After announcing a partnership with Leica for its upcoming flagship series of premium smartphones, Xiaomi is slated to launch its highly anticipated Xiaomi 12S series in July this year. Chinese social media Weibo user, Niuwan Technology, recently shared on their timeline that several offline retailers in the country have started receiving the marketing materials and devices for the upcoming Xiaomi 12S series of smartphones, which include the Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

What is shocking here, is that the highly anticipated Xiaomi 12 Ultra is actually called the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, which indicates that the Ultra model is a part of the Xiaomi 12S family. The parcel photo attached in the post states that the device shipped is the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, and an early bird premium gift box set from Xiaomi is shipped along with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

Parcel Shipment from Xiaomi states that it is a Xiaomi 12S Ultra.

In that case, Xiaomi’s flagship naming convention makes actual sense this time around as from what we have gathered from previous leaks, all 3 models are equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC from Qualcomm, alongside Xiaomi’s first-ever flagship camera setup that is co-engineered with Leica, for all 3 devices in the Xiaomi 12S flagship family.

The Weibo post also shows the marketing materials and invitation cards for the Xiaomi 12S series launch, and it highlights the partnership between Xiaomi and Leica in creating a new era of smartphone photography. All cards have been printed with signatures from the Chairman of Leica, Andreas Kaufmann, and from the CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun as well. Xiaomi seems to have spent more on printed marketing this time around for the Xiaomi 12S series too because the amount of cards in one box shown in the Weibo photo seems to be a lot.

Tecno Camon 19 vs Tecno Pova 3: Specs Comparison

Tecno is one of the most important brands of affordable phones in India and this year came up with several series of phones. Among the most interesting devices released by the company during this period, there are Tecno Pova 3 and Tecno Camon 19. Even though they are positioned in the same price range and are both affordable phones, they belong to two different series, each with its pro and cons. The presence of two phones from different series in the same price range often confuses people, especially those who do not know the brand well and those who are not able to deeply examine the specifications of a phone. If you are one of these confused people, you are in the right place. This is a comparison between the specifications of the Tecno Camon 19 and the Tecno Pova 3 which will clear your ideas.

Tecno Camon 19 vs Tecno Pova 3

8 MP f/2.0 front camera
BATTERY  5000 mAh, fast charging 18W  7000 mAh, fast charging 25W
ADDITIONAL FEATURES Dual SIM slot Dual SIM slot, reverse charging

Design

Both these phones come with distinctive designs, but the Tecno Camon 19 is definitely the most attractive. Its rear side reminds me of a labyrinth with its very creative texture. Further, it has two round camera modules reminding of the latest Huawei and Honor flagship phones.  Further, it has a high screen to body ratio with narrow bezels and a punch hole placed centrally on the display. On the other hand, the Tecno Pova 3 is very elegant because its rear cameras are placed directly on the back cover, without dedicated camera modules. This phone is reminiscent of the beautiful TCL 20 Pro, but it does not have a curved screen. A killer feature of this device is the presence of an RGB notification light stripe on the back, but only in the Electric Blue color option. Which of these phones has your favorite design?

Display

Do you need the most advanced display? First of all, we have to tell you that if you really need an amazing image quality, then maybe these phones are not the perfect choice for you. They come with IPS LCD displays and the panels delivering the most advanced image quality are the AMOLED panels. If you do not mind having a less impressive LCD panel but you still want the best display here, then you should opt for the Tecno Pova 3. With a diagonal of 6.9 inches, it has one of the biggest displays in the whole smartphone market. It is able to show images with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels. Further, it provides a smooth experience thanks to a 90 Hz refresh rate. The Tecno Camon 19 has a 6.8-inch display with the same Full HD+ resolution, but it lacks the 90 Hz refresh rate and it offers a standard 60 Hz refresh rate. The Tecno Pova 3 also comes with stereo speakers. Both these phones are equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Specs & Software

The Tecno Pova 3 provides a slight performance boost if compared to the Tecno Camon 19, thanks to a better chipset. We are talking about the octa-core Helio G88 SoC by Mediatek built at 12 nm and running at a max frequency of 2 GHz. The chip is paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage (there is a configuration with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage as well). The Camon 19 has the same memory configuration (4/128 GB instead of 4/64 GB for the base variant) but with an inferior Helio G85 processor by Mediatek built at 12 nm and running at a max frequency of 2 GHz. Not particularly inferior, but it is inferior. However, there is another important difference between these two phones: Tecno Camon 19 ships with Android 12 out of the box, while the Pova 3 is still based on Android 11.

Camera

The most advanced camera department is provided by the Tecno Camon 19. It has a better 64 MP main camera on the rear side and, even though it is not a camera phone, it wins this camera comparison. Even the selfie camera is better with its 16 MP resolution. Alongside the main camera, you get a 2 MP depth sensor, a third QVGA sensor, and a Quad-LED flash. The Tecno Pova 3 has a 50 MP main camera, two other useless sensors, and an 8 MP front camera for selfies.

Battery

One of the biggest advantages of the Tecno Pova 3 is its outstanding battery life. This phone is equipped with a huge 7000 mAh battery, one of the biggest batteries you can find on a device released in 2022. It supports 25W fast charging and even reverse charging which lets you use the phone as a power bank to charge other devices.

Price

The starting price of the Tecno Pova 3 is Rs. 11,999 (it roughly translates into $153), while the Tecno Camon 19 is yet to hit the shelves. There is not a clear winner of this comparison but mostly depends on your needs: if you want a better camera and Android 12 out of the box go for the Camon 19, otherwise, the Pova 3 gives you a bigger battery, better chipset, and higher refresh rate.

How Tecno CAMON 19 Pro Stacks Up in Photography and Design vs Samsung A53 And Vivo V23e

Tecno, Samsung, and Vivo vary in terms of design, features, and brand history.  But when compared to the above brands, Tecno is relatively new. The brand’s products have often focused on artistic design and cutting-edge camera technology. So let’s check out how the new Camon 19 Pro stacks up against the Samsung A53 and Vivo V23e.

TECNO CAMON 19 Pro vs Samsung A53 vs Vivo V23e

Camera and Photography

All three smartphones have a 64MP main rear camera. TECNO CAMON 19 Pro features an industry-first 64MP main camera with an RGBW high-clear crystal glass lens co-developed with Samsung. This lens sets a new standard for accurately capturing bright, clear images and portraits in less-than-optimal lighting situations. CAMON 19 Pro also stands out with its specialized 50MP portrait camera that offers an excellent portrait photography experience.

On the other hand, Vivo V23e also comes with a great camera setup with its 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree angle and a 2MP macro camera. Samsung A53 has a 64MP + 8MP + 5MP + 5MP quad-camera setup but offers nothing special in terms of specific functions.

Selfie Cameras

Vivo V23e emerges the victor in terms of selfie camera. It features a 50MP wide-angle selfie camera that gives you crystal clear images and wider views of selfies or group selfies, making it perfect for different social scenarios. On the other hand, TECNO CAMON 19 Pro has a 32MP front camera and Samsung A53 is equipped with a 20MP front camera.

Display

All three phones come with large screens that are great for entertainment. TECNO CAMON 19 Pro features the largest display amongst them, with a 6.8-inch display that comes with a Wide Color Gamut and a 120Hz refresh rate. Moreover, the screen is certified by TUV Rheinland. This means with CAMON 19 Pro you get a large display that minimizes blue light, thereby reducing eye strain and fatigue. Samsung A53 and Vivo V23e come with 6.5” FHD AMOLED and 6.44”FHD displays respectively. Among the three, TECNO CAMON 19 Pro stands out with its massive display.

Design

In terms of design, all of the above brands utilize their iconic design language to target young consumers. Vivo V23e features an ultra-thin design with a glass back and a plastic frame and Samsung A53 follows the iconic Galaxy design with a matte frosted texture and brand-new colors to provide the Gen Z with not just a phone but also a fashion accessory. However, TECNO CAMON 19 Pro stands out for its stylish design, 0.98mm extremely slim bezel, and dual-ring triple-camera layout that made it a 2022 iF Design Award winner.

Processor

TECNO CAMON 19 Pro and Vivo V23e are both powered by MediaTek Helio G96 12nm Chip, while the Samsung A53 uses Samsung Exynos 1280 5nm chip to deliver superior performance and power-saving, giving its users a better and faster experience. TECNO CAMON 19 Pro comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, while Samsung A53 and Vivo V23e come with 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM and 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM respectively.

Battery

Both TECNO CAMON 19 Pro and Samsung A53 have a large-capacity 5000mAh battery and support a 33W flash charge. Vivo V23e on the other hand has a smaller 4050mAh battery but supports a 44W flash charge that charges your phone faster.

Conclusion

Based on the above points of comparison, Tecno CAMON 19 Pro could be a good choice if your focus is on night portrait photography, or if you want a bigger and smoother display and a slim and stylish design. However, if taking selfies is your priority then Vivo V23e would be a better choice since it provides a better front camera and also supports faster charging. If the brand name means more to you, then Samsung A53 is the one for you as it comes with the Samsung brand name and also performs better in the hardware. However, it falls short in other aspects and features.

So, which one would you pick?

How fast is fast enough? A Chinese OEM is now trial-producing 240W Charger

Chinese smartphone brands are constantly pushing the envelope with their absolutely bonkers charging technologies. We recently heard rumors of the upcoming iQOO 10 Pro being equipped with 200W charging capabilities. However, if you think 200W is too much, you’ll be surprised to know that a Chinese OEM is planning to up the ante to 240W.

iQOO is reported to be working on the next-gen iQOO 10 Pro which will support up to 200W fast charging. This means the smartphone can be fully charged from 0-100 percent, in around 12 minutes. But iQOO 10 Pro might not be the fastest charging phone because as per the popular tipster Digital Chat Station, a fellow Chinese manufacturer is trial-producing a 24v-10a 240W charger.

The tipster, however, didn’t disclose the name of the manufacturer. It could be Oppo since the company had already showcased 240W fast charging in the past.

Back in February 2022, Oppo announced that it has developed 240W SuperVooc charging technology that can juice up a 4,500mAh battery in just 9 minutes. However, the technology was only tested in a prototype phone and the company didn’t announce exactly when this fast-charging technology will arrive on a smartphone.

Smartphone brands have pushed smartphone charging systems to a limit but there’s no telling what these kinds of charging speeds would do to the battery after a few charging cycles. We know that fast charging comes with a risk of overheating and corresponding hazards. Despite all the additional safety mechanisms implemented by the companies, the risk still persists.

Chrome OS 103 update brings better integration with smartphones

Google has just released the latest Chrome OS update for Chromebooks which brings many new features for seamless integration and convenience. So, let’s check them out.

Google Chrome OS Logo Featured

The Chrome OS 103 update‘s first new feature is the change made to the Phone Hub. As we know, the Phone Hub is a built-in control center that lets you respond to text messages, check your phone’s battery, turn on tethering, and more. Now, it is also capable of fetching your recently clicked images straight from your Android smartphone to your Chromebook.

This will make life easier in situations when you need to quickly snap a picture to attach it to an email. And the best part is that users don’t need to be connected to the internet for this feature to work.

The second major feature in this update is the ability to securely connect your Chromebook to any WiFi network you have saved on your smartphone without the need for a password. It works using the Nearby Share feature in Chrome OS that also lets users share music, pictures, or other files between other Chromebooks or Android devices.

To try out this new feature, all you have to do is go to the internet settings page on your Android phone, select “Wi-Fi network” and “Share.” Then tap the “Nearby” tile under the QR code, and select the Chromebook you want to get online. Nearby Share will deliver the Wi-Fi credentials (as in the network name and password), and the Chromebook will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi.

Other than these features, Google has also announced that Chromebooks will soon be able to easily pair with headphones or other compatible accessories via Google’s Fast Pair framework. Whenever a new pair of Bluetooth headphones are nearby, a notification will pop up on the Chromebooks screen asking if the user wants to pair with this device. This feature will roll out later this summer.

Unfortunately, the tipster does not reveal any information regarding the specifications of these upcoming AIoT devices. However, the company recently launched the OnePlus Nord Buds in India aka the OnePlus Buds N, so we can get an idea of what to expect from the upcoming Nord-branded TWS earbuds.

OnePlus Nord Buds

The OnePlus Nord Buds come with 12.4mm dynamic drivers, and feature Dolby Atmos audio with custom equalizer support. The earbuds house dual microphones for noise cancellation during calls but do not provide active noise cancellation.
