Lenovo has recently launched the ThinkVision M14d Mobile monitor for professionals who like to be on the move. The 2K monitor is extremely slim and light making it the perfect solution for your portable small screen needs.

Lenovo ThinkVision M14d portable monitor

The ThinkVision M14d is the successor of the ThinkVision M14t (touch) and the ThinkVision M14. But this time around, it comes with a 16:10 aspect ratio as most business and professional-oriented laptops have been making a move towards the 16:10 aspect ratio.

Talking about the specs of the monitor, it comes with a 14-inch 2K (2240x1400p) anti-glare IPS WLED-backlit panel. The display has a 60Hz refresh rate and a 6ms response time. It also covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, has a peak brightness of 300nits, and offers a 1500:1 contrast ratio. It weighs 0.6 kg (1.3 lbs), making it relatively easy to lung around next to a laptop. Users can also mount it via the two included 100 mm screw-holes.

Due to its compact size, the Lenovo ThinkVision M14d external monitor doesn’t have any ports other than the two USB Type-C ports that can double up as DP1.4 ports. However, the USB-C port can be used to deliver up to 65 W of power to a connected device. The monitor requires an external power source to power it as it does not have a built battery.

Lenovo has announced that the ThinkVision M14d will cost $299 and will be available for purchase in July 2022.

Design

Google paid a lot of attention to the design of its brand new Pixel 6 Pro. This handset comes with a very original design including a horizontal camera module, two different colors for its glass back protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, and an aluminum frame. The phone is more compact than Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and it is waterproof with the IP68 certification. Coming to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it has an original design too, different from its predecessor Galaxy S21 Ultra. It looks like a Galaxy Note and it even comes with an integrated S Pen. But it is chunkier and less original than the Pixel 6 Pro, that is the reason why I personally prefer the Google flagship.

Display

Samsung is the absolute leader of the display sector and the Galaxy S22 Ultra has a definitely better screen than the Google Pixel 6 Pro. It is an AMOLED panel with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, a Quad HD+ resolution, the HDR10+ certification, the Gorilla Glass Victus Plus protection, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader. Last but not least, it supports the S Pen for handwriting and drawing. Despite being inferior, the Google Pixel 6 Pro still comes with an amazing display, close to its rival with its Quad HD+ resolution, adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz, in-display fingerprint reader, and HDR10+.

Specs & Software

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra wins the hardware comparison because it sports a stronger processor. The Google Pixel 6 Pro is the first phone with the first Google proprietary chipset, the Google Tensor. This chipset can be a good rival of the Snapdragon 888, but it is not even close to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 found on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultram, built with a 4 nm production process and running at a max frequency of 3 GHz. Further, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra offers up to 1 TB of internal storage, while the Google Pixel 6 Pro stops at 512 GB. On the other hand, the Google Pixel 6 Pro will get faster software support as it is a Google phone and Google develops Android.

Camera

On the paper, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra sports the most advanced camera system. However, several experts believe that the Google Pixel 6 Pro provides a better photo quality. It comes with a 50 MP main camera including laser autofocus and OIS, a stunning 48 MP telephoto sensor with 4x optical zoom, and a 12 MP ultrawide camera. Google’s algorithm seems to do a great job at enhancing the photo quality provided by its flagship.

Battery

Both Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and Google Pixel 6 Pro come with a battery capacity close to 5000 mAh. The battery life provided by these two handsets should not be so different if we consider that they have similar hardware components in terms of efficiency.

Price

The Google Pixel 6 Pro can be purchased for less than €1000 or $900, while you need more than €1250 or $1200 to grab a unit of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Samsung flagship is a more advanced device thanks to S Pen, its great display, stronger processor, and faster charging. But the Google Pixel 6 Pro has its important pros such as software support and its amazing camera performance.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra vs Google Pixel 6 Pro: PRO and CONS

  • Integrated S Pen
  • Gorilla Glass Victus+
  • Faster charging

Redmi K50 Pro to sport the Dimensity 8100, OPPO K10 & a OnePlus model too

The recently announced MediaTek Dimensity 8000 series chips are getting more smartphone brands lining behind to deploy the chip in their upcoming products. Redmi, OnePlus, and Oppo are the latest brands that will release one or more of their incoming models that will be powered by the Dimensity 8000.Redmi K50 Pro Dimensity 8000

The Redmi K50 series is expected to arrive within this month although it may likely be a staggered release. At least one of the Redmi K50 models will have the Dimensity 8000 or 8100 chip. The Redmi K50 and K50 Pro are likely to be the first models to be released. The Redmi K50 Gaming is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, a seeming turnaround from its predecessor that had a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset.

A possible OnePlus Nord model could also sport the Dimensity 8100, which is a fair projection since the Nord 2 and Nord CE 2 are powered by Dimensity chips. There are also indications that the Oppo K10 series will also have some models sporting the Dimensity 8000 or 8100. Both the Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 8100 are mid-range SoCs but the Dimensity 8000 has a slightly slower GPU compared to the Dimensity 8100.

MediaTek had announced that the first models sporting its Dimensity 8000 series chips will be released by the end of Q1, 2022 and it seems the company is on course to hit a bullseye in its projections. More details about the specific models that will be powered by the Dimensity 8000 series chips will become known as we inch closer to their launch from the end of March 2022.

Redmi K50 Pro design, iPhone SE 2022 price, Xiaomi CIVI Pro specs, and more leaks from last week

We have been compiling top stories regularly for the past few weeks. This time we thought to do something different. As you guys seem to be more interested in our coverage of leaks and rumors, we thought to put them together. Hence, in this article, we talk about the top leaks and rumors from last week.

In the last few days, we reported on leaks and rumors surrounding the most-awaited smartphones from multiple OEMs. Let’s take at them one by one in no particular order.

Top Leaks and Rumors from Last Week

1. Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro to sport vivo-like design

Redmi K50 Pro Renders

We finally got to see the design of the upcoming Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro last week. Unfortunately, the new-gen Redmi K series phones will drop their unique design language in favor of a rear design inspired by vivo. This design was first introduced by the Xiaomi group on Xiaomi CIVI.

Thanks to TENAA, we also know the maximum available memory configuration of Redmi’s flagship smartphone lineup. The  Redmi K50, the Redmi K50 Pro, and the Redmi K50 Pro+ will max at 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB respectively.

2. POCO F4 GT specs leak confirm Redmi K50G rebrand

The key specs of the yet-to-release POCO F4 GT leaked last week. According to them, the device will be indeed a rebadged Redmi K50G, which is also known as Redmi K50 Gaming Edition.

This is not surprising as the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition debuted as POCO F4 GT in global markets. Most importantly, the Redmi K50G was already spotted at certification websites as Redmi K50G.

3. There may not be a Xiaomi 12 Lite but new CIVI series phones instead

Xiaomi CIVI review featured

Earlier last week, a report revealed that Xiaomi 12 Lite will be a fusion of Xioami CIVI and Xiaomi 12.  A day later, another report disclosed that Xiaomi CIVI Pro may launch soon with slightly better specs than the original Xiaomi CIVI. This device was originally supposed to release as Xiaomi 12 Lite Zoom.

A few days from that, a Xiaomi exec confirmed that there will be no Xioami 12 Lite in 2022. This means the rumored Xiaomi 12 Lite could release as a Xiaomi CIVI series phone in China alongside the so-called Xiaomi CIVI Pro. But we cannot rule out the possibility of it launching under Xiaomi 12 Lite branding in international markets.

4. vivo may release a ‘Note’

Android 13 will let users control phone’s flashlight brightness: Report

Last month we learned that the upcoming Android 13 will be codenamed Tiramasu and will bring along new themes, built-in QR code scanning, and easier sharing features among others. And now, a famous analyst has revealed that the next-gen Android will also include a feature that has long been present in Apple iPhones.

Smartphone Flash

According to Mishaal Rehman, Google may add a brightness control feature for the camera flash which will let you adjust its brightness while being used as a torch. This feature is already present in iOS devices and even Samsung offers it in their One UI overlay.

However, there are a few caveats as not all Android devices will be able to implement this feature with just an Android 13 update. This is due to the flash brightness control requiring a hardware interface that not all phones would have installed with their camera packs. Meaning that it may be so that only future Android smartphones may get this feature.

Mishaal Rehman has also stated that the Android 13’s system-level torch light intensity option would likely debut on upcoming Pixel phones that are expected to be unveiled at Google’s I/O and then eventually trickle down to Android phone makers that don’t offer this feature in their interface overlay. So it appears that a lot of Android users might have to wait a while even after the launch of Android 13 to be able to utilize this feature.

The Galaxy Note series is discontinued, says Samsung’s smartphone chief

The ongoing Mobile World Congress 2022 holding in Barcelona, Spain has seen several key announcements from various manufacturers. One of the big announcements from Korean tech powerhouse Samsung is that the Galaxy Note will now come out as the Galaxy Ultra, according to its smartphone chief.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra featured

Roh-Taemoon, Samsung’s smartphone arm’s executive indicates that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will suffice for this current iteration unlike previously when a Galaxy Note will have to be thrown into the mix. The last Galaxy Note released was in 2020 when the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra came on board. The integrated Stylus design present in the Galaxy S22 Ultra flagship seems a reflection of everything that we may have expected of a Galaxy Note. This convergence may be a business decision to shore up resources and sales, as the Galaxy Note lineup has had a turbulent trajectory since they berthed in 2011.Samsung Galaxy Note 20

The advent of foldable displays which Samsung also played a pioneering part via the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, has further restricted the utility of the Galaxy Note lineup, as users prefer more compact and versatile displays.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra will continue to appease the desire of Galaxy Note addicts as a more-than-worthy successor, and we expect more note-like offerings from Samsung going forward, according to Taemoon. So we can start viewing current Galaxy Note models as collector items.

TicWatch GTH Pro

Mobvio claims to achieve this with their new “Arty Heart Health” analytics platform that measures central arterial waveforms. Simply put, it measures the strength of your pulse to accumilate data reguarding the heart health of the user.

Exercise capacity refers to blood flow to the heart, while arterial age is based on how “stiff” your arteries are. Meanwhile, heart stress is based on pulse pressure.

The company claimes that when users use the fitness tracker for long terms, it’ll give personalised recommendations based on the user’s metrics which can range form advice to be more physically active to adding more Vitamin C in your diat.

TicWatch GTH Pro

Outside of fitness tracking of 14 actives, SPO2 and sleep tracking, the GTH Pro can continuously monitor skin temperature as well as respiration rate. The device can last for about 7-10 days on a single charge and takes around two hours to completly recharge. The device also offers a 5 ATM water resistance. Huawei MateBook 13 new variant misses out on the touchscreen function

Huawei has released a new, cheaper version of the MateBook 13 laptop with the device coming with just one feature separating it from the previous model. The MateBook 13 was first launched in 2020 but this model misses out on the touch functionality on the display. This brings down the price of the laptop to 5,199 yuan ($824).Huawei MateBook 13

The laptop retains all other features found on the original MateBook 13 released in 2020. This includes a dazzling 2K full-screen design in a compact 13-inch body with a narrow frame design. The laptop utilizes a unique 3:2 aspect ratio and up to 88% screen-to-body ratio. The display also comes with a 100% sRGB wide color gamut, and double eye protection function.

The screen of the previous touch screen version supports ten-point touch, supports one-finger swipe to browse web pages, and a two-finger stretch action to enlarge pictures. This version which is 300 yuan cheaper is suitable for those who don’t need these touch features.

The MateBook 13 also uses a thin and light metal body, carved with greasy sandblasting technology, and has a high-quality texture. The laptop is just 14.9 mm thin and weighs just 1.3 kg.Huawei MateBook 13

The MateBook 13 features an Intel Core i5 chipset paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The laptop comes with an Intel Iris Xe Graphics card bringing about a 160% increase in the graphics performance compared to the previous generation.

In terms of heat dissipation, the MateBook 13 is equipped with a new dual-fan and dual heat pipe “wing” arrangement. The design improves the heat dissipation efficiency and makes the cooling more balanced.

The new Huawei MateBook 13 will go on sale in China on March 4.
