A New Jersey designer has detailed how her Apple AirPods managed to save her life after she sustained a serious head injury while alone in her studio.
60-year Susan Putman who works as a floral designer often listens to music through her AirPods while working, and who could have thought that her love for music would actually help save her life one day?
“I was working on a four-foot horseshoe wreath, and I stepped back to look at it and I forgot its box was sitting on the floor,” she told People (via Apple Insider). “I must have been very conscious about not smashing the wreath because I tripped and flew maybe 8 ft. in the air and my head landed against these metal poles.”
Susan Putman (Credit: Susan Putman)
Putman says she wasn’t sure if she lost consciousness after the freak accident, but upon coming back to her senses she remembered she had her AirPods in and simply said, “Hey Siri, call 911.”
The wearables worked as expected and Putman was immediately connected with a 911 operator who stayed on the line until police and paramedics arrived.
“The only thing I remember is the two police guys getting there and one is holding a towel to my head, and he says to the other one to tell the ambulance to get there right now because I was losing a lot of blood,” she says. “Honestly, if it had been another 15 minutes, I’m not sure I’d be here. There’s no doubt about it — if I didn’t have my AirPods in, I would’ve died.”
At the hospital, Putman received seven staples across the side of her head and even got diagnosed with a concussion, because of which she couldn’t look at screens of any kind for a month. Since then, she has made a full recovery and is back in her studio to work on floral arrangements, again with her AirPods in and music playing.
Putman thereafter has been sharing her tale with friends and family and found that most were unaware that the AirPods could be used in such a way. “I’ve had so many friends buy AirPods as a result of this and learn how to use Siri,” she says.
Oppo has officially confirmed that the Reno7 series will be launching in India soon. The lineup was first launched in China last year and included the Reno7 5G, Reno7 Pro 5G, and Reno7 SE 5G.
Reno7 and Reno7 Pro
The Chinese smartphone maker shared the news on Twitter, and even confirmed its availability via the popular e-retailer, Flipkart. Looking at its listing on this platform, we can observe that the brand teases some of the upcoming series’ features. This includes the “World’s first Sony IMX709 Ultra Sensing Sensor” for the 32 megapixel selfie shooter. Similarly, the rear features a “Flagship Sony IMX766 Sensor,” which is a 1/1.56 inch 50 megapixel camera.
In other words, the Reno7 lineup that is launching in India is likely identical to the one launched in China last year. The tweet also labels the upcoming devices as the “Portrait Expert” and “The Most Advanced Reno Camera System Ever.” Unfortunately, Oppo refrained from revealing any other finer details like launch date or pricing and availability as of right now. Although, previous reports do hint at its possible pricing.
Reportedly, the Reno7 will be priced somewhere between 28,000 INR and 31,000 INR (roughly 376 to 416 US Dollars) while the Pro variant might be launched for around 41,000 INR to 43,000 INR (roughly 550 to 580 US Dollars). Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt for now, and stay tuned for more updates.

Are you ready for the best 2022 flagships? If you are looking for the most advanced hardware department at the best price, then you cannot ignore the Motorola Edge X30 and the Realme GT 2 Pro this year. These devices have nothing to envy the most expensive phones in the market, but their prices are simply amazing. The former will probably hit the global market until the Motorola Edge 30 Pro moniker and the latter is coming soon in the European market as well, after being launched in China and India. Given that these devices carry similar price tags, we think it is time for a comparison between the specifications of the Motorola Edge X30 and the Realme GT 2 Pro.

Design
The Realme GT 2 Pro is definitely one of the most attractive phones released this year in terms of design. The Paper White and the Paper Green color options of this handset are made with a special bio-based polymer which resembles the sensation of the paper. It is a very sustainable material reducing carbon emissions and it even makes the phone more original and beautiful, without renouncing to great build quality. This design is definitely better than the one of the Motorola Edge X30 which is a classic phone with a glass back protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and an average look. But the Motorola flagship is water-repellent, which is a cool feature for those who want to use their phones while it is raining.
Display
The Motorola Edge X30 has a higher 144 Hz refresh rate, but the best display of this comparison belongs to the Realme GT 2 Pro. It is equipped with an AMOLED panel sporting the LTPO 2.0 technology enabling an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and very low energy consumption. The display shows up to one billion colors, it has a Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3216 pixels, and the HDR10+ certification. This display has a higher image quality including a better color reproduction and a higher level of detail. The Motorola Edge X30 has an OLED display with one billion colors as well, but with a lower Full HD+ resolution and without the LTPO technology.
Specs & Software
The best advantage of the Motorola Edge X30 and the Realme GT 2 Pro is definitely their processor: an amazing Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform which is currently the most advanced SoC by Qualcomm, running at a max frequency of 3 GHz. Given that they have the same SoC and the same max amount of RAM (up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM), they will likely offer the same level of performance. But with the Realme GT 2 Pro, you can actually get more internal storage: up to 512 GB. Last but not least, its software department is more advanced as it is the Realme UI 3.0 based on ColorOS 12 and Android 12. I tested the Realme UI 3.0 thoroughly and I found out that it offers a lot more features and more optimization.
Camera
The rear camera setup of the Realme GT 2 Pro is superior to the Motorola Edge X30. It is composed of a 50 MP Sony IMX766 main camera with omnidirectional phase detection autofocus and OIS, a 50 MP ultrawide sensor, and a 3 MP microscope lens with 40x magnification. The Motorola Edge X30 comes with two 50 MP cameras including an ultrawide one and a 2 MP depth sensor, clearly inferior to the Realme GT 2 Pro, but it has a better 60 MP selfie camera.
The battery capacities of the Motorola Edge X30 and the Realme GT 2 Pro are the same: 5000 mAh. But the latter will most likely last more in a lot of scenarios thanks to its efficient display with the LTPO 2.0 technology.
Price
The Motorola Edge X30 has a starting price tag of €420/$476 in the Chinese market, while Realme GT 2 Pro starts from €542/$615. At the end of the day, the Realme GT 2 Pro wins the comparison thanks to a better design, display, and rear cameras. But the Edge X30 is a lot more affordable, so its value for money is higher.
Motorola Edge X30 vs Realme GT 2 Pro: PRO and CONS
Taiwanese company Gogoro seems to be on a ball with the raft of announcements surrounding the company. Just after attracting significant funding for its swappable battery technology, the latest Yamaha electric scooter will sport Gogoro’s batteries. The Yamaha EMF has a very striking design that shows futuristic body panels and has a unique look from any of Yamaha’s previous models. The Yamaha EMF will be powered by a 7.6 kWh mid-mounted electric motor that uses a final chain drive to the rear wheel.
The Yamaha EMF will deploy Gogoro’s technology that allows for swapping depleted batteries for new ones at the GoStations. Virtually all electric scooters in Taiwan have deployed Gogoro’s swappable batteries and this significantly increases the range of the electric scooter.
The GoStations are more than fuel stations in some cities, and they provide the needed support for swapping depleted batteries especially in Taiwan. The Yamaha EMF will be debuting first in Taiwan, and it will draw from the extensive infrastructure of GoStations across the country.
The Yamaha EMF can accelerate from 0 to 50km/h within 3.5 seconds although we are still in the dark about its top speed. The e-scooter has a storage compartment that sits between the rider’s feet, with a cupholder and space for holding a few things. It is unclear what the pricing looks like for the Yamaha EMF but we would expect its partnership with Gogoro could tilt the market towards it.

Apple offers a great trade-in value for older iPhones as well as Android devices. And for a long time, buyers have been benefiting from this trade-in program from Apple. However, now it looks like, Apple has made some significant changes when it comes to the trade-in value, as MacRumors has reported that Apple has officially lowered the trade-in values for Android devices.
As per the report, starting from today, Apple has lowered the estimated exchange value for Android smartphones. Not just that, Apple has also lowered the value for a few old iPads and MacBooks.

By highest value, we mean the maximum possible exchange value, which in the end varies depending on the condition of your device. However, today, the publication has noticed these highest trade-in values to be slightly lower than usual. This seems to be a silent move from Apple.
Following are some of the new trade-in values. The left indicates the current values while in the bracket you can see the previous value.

Xiaomi has continued to provide software support for the Mi A3 even though the phone is gradually moving towards the end of days. Not too long ago, the company rolled out a new update bringing December 2021 security patch with an unusually large file size of 458 GB. The Chinese company has yet again provided a new update for the Mi A3. The new update ushers in the January 2022 Android security patch.
Unlike the December 2021 security patch, this new update has an exceptionally small file size of just 12.29 MB. It comes with the firmware number V12.0.18.0.RFQMIXM, showing it is still based on MIUI 12 despite the device launching as part of Google’s Android One program. The software is still Android 11 and we doubt if Xiaomi will push any major update to the device which launched with Android 9.0 Pie. This means it has received two major Android upgrades even though the migration to Android 11 was plagued with several bug incidence.
According to the changelog, the update delivers the January 2022 security patch, fixes bugs, will enhance the stability of the device, and optimize the overall performance of the Mi A3. The V12.0.18.0.RFQMIXM build is presently being delivered via OTA update on MIUI’s global channel.
It should be noted, though, that the Mi A3 will not be getting official software support from July 2022.
