Police Arrests Amazon India workers for illegally smuggling Marijuana

The Visakhapatnam Police in India has arrested Amazon workers for allegedly smuggling illegal drugs. The police have apparently recovered 48 kilograms of marijuana after a recent investigation, which follows another case of recovery of prohibited substances in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh.

According to a Gadgets360 report, Police forms from Bhind had received a tip, which led to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Visakhapatnam finding two Amazon delivery workers with marijuana. Furthermore, the authorities even recovered Amazon’s packaging material that was reportedly used to illegally smuggle the drugs. Notably, the recent arrives just after the Bhind Police charging executives of the e-commerce giant under narcotics laws as the marijuana was smuggled through the online e-retail platform.

Just last week, the Visakhapatnam Police had arrested Amazon associate in the city along with two delivery workers. The police had found the accused in possession of the drug along with an electronic weighing machine as well. These workers were carrying two gunny bags that were filled with 24 kilograms of Marijuana each, as per the FIR (first information report). Interestingly, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has demanded that the government suspend Amazon’s operations in the country and to arrest its officials for allowing the trade of illegal substances.

CAIT National President BC Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal even went as far as to call Amazon a “Ganja company” (‘Ganja’ being the Hindi name for Marijuana). It remains to be seen how the tech giant responds to all of these statements and what actions it takes to rectify the situation, so stay tuned for more updates.

Samsung’s next Charger may fast charge them all!

Apart from just offering various mobile computing products like smartphones, tablets, laptops, and more, Samsung even sells many electronic peripherals and accessories as well. Now, the company is apparently working on a new charger that can fast charge all of these products.

The charger in question is the EP-T6530, which the South Korean tech giant might call the Power Adapter Trio (Via SamMobile). As the name suggests, its a charging adapter that offers you a way to charge all of your devices together so one wouldn’t have to carry around multiple adapters. In other words, it would be especially useful for those that are traveling and are on the go.

Samsung

As of right now, the charger is already available for sale on a few European website, although, the company has yet to officially announce this product. So, it is unknown whether the maximum power output would be 65W or 105W as the adapter contains three ports (1x 65W USB Type-C , 1x 25W USB Type-C, and 1x 15W USB Type-A). The European website listings even reveal its 56 Euro price tag (roughly 63 US Dollars).

If these specifications are true, you can expect to fast charge anything between your Galaxy Book, Galaxy S21, or even the Galaxy Z Flip3. However, the product has yet to be launched officially, so take this report with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.

OPPO TV India launch timeline tipped

Smartphone brands have been venturing into the smart TV category for the past few years. OPPO is one of the giants to enter the idiot box segment last October. It has been more than a year, however, the company’s televisions remain exclusive to China. As per new information, this might change soon.

OPPO Smart TV K9 Series Featured 01
OPPO Smart TV K9 Series

According to a report by 91Mobiles, OPPO TV will launch in India in Q2 2022. This piece of information comes from tech influencer Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings).

Unfortunately, the source does not reveal anything about this television, except for the rough release timeline. Hence, it’s not known whether the firm will bring its existing model or launch something new altogether.

We think that there’s a high chance for the latter than the former. Because almost all smartphone brands assemble their TVs locally in India. Since OPPO’s sister brands OnePlus and realme follow this, it will most likely do the same.

In that case, the OPPO TVs launching in India will be different from the models sold in China, just like Xiaomi televisions. But at least, Xiaomi has brought its self-developed content aggregation service called PatchWall outside mainland China with tweaks catering to Indian customers. We are not sure about the same for OPPO.

Having said that, we can expect OPPO TV models to run Android TV in India like most smart televisions in the country. As far as other features are concerned, we will have to wait till more details emerge in the form of leaks, certifications, and teasers.

Sony may soon offer swappable Face Plates to customize your PS5

Sony might soon be offering a new peripheral for its PlayStation 5 that lets you customize the popular gaming console. The company had recently filed various patents for the PS5’s hardware and software, with the latest published patent describing new Face Plates.

Sony

According to GameRant, the Japanese tech giant is apparently planning on offerings users a way to customize their PlayStation 5 “officially.” We say officially as certain brands have attempted to offer their own PS5 face plate designs in the past, only to be met with a lawsuit from Sony to have these manufacturers cease operations. But now, it seems that the brand has decided to unveil its own branded face plates, as per a new patent document on the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Looking at the patent, it describes an “ornamental design for a cover for an electronic device.” Furthermore, the documents even offers images of these plates from various angles. The report claims that it might be the brand’s way of preventing other third party firms from producing custom face plates. Although, it is just as likely that Sony could be considering to launch swappable face plates.

Sony PlayStation 5

As of right now, it is unclear if the company is actually working on these PS5 face plates or is just covering all bases. But, if they do decide to launch there for the PS5, it might see some success considering many weren’t happy with the design of the ninth generation of consoles. Interestingly, allowing users to create custom designed face plates might also be quite a quirky idea. Although, it is still too early to tell, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Microsoft rolls out fix for app crash issues on Windows 11 to beta users

Windows 11, as with every other major new release, has also brought along a couple of bugs. One of them results in app crash issues while the other can even cause BSODs. Both were originally discovered in the November 2021 Patch and even affect the latest versions of Windows 10.

The app crashes have been found to be linked to Microsoft Installer (MSI) failures, according to Microsoft’s known issues page (via Windows Latest). The findings suggest that apps that are known to be affected include those from Kaspersky, along with some other apps. The crashes are only experienced when you apply an update to the affected app or try to repair it using Windows Settings or Troubleshooter.

Microsoft windows 11

Thankfully, a fix for the app crash issues is being rolled out to testers in the beta and preview channels as part of Windows 11 Build 22000.348 (KB5007262). The release notes say that the patch contains a fix for an issue that might prevent apps from opening after users update or repair them using the Microsoft Installer (MSI). It will be rolled out for stable users soon as well.

Microsoft had previously stated that they’re working on a fix and users are recommended to reinstall their apps if the apps are crashing in the meantime.

The update also includes fixes for the broken Appx PowerShell cmdlet functionality that affected PowerShell 7.1 and later. There’s also a fix for the “bad image” error that popped up during startup.

Moreover, Microsoft has fixed the issue that crashed searchindexer.exe or caused high memory usage in remote desktop environments. Lastly, a fix has been implemented for the bug that caused devices to stop responding when they return from sleep or hibernation.

While the report has revealed a possible launch time frame for the EVs, the tipster did not reveal any finer details like technical or hardware specifications. OnePlus is reportedly working on the launch of the OnePlus 10 Pro. A recent leak claimed that the smartphone will break cover in China in January or February. The global launch of the device is likely to be held in March or April. A fresh leak by Digital Chat Station suggests that the OnePlus 10 Pro zoom capabilities may not be different from the predecessor model.

The OnePlus 9 Pro’s quad-camera unit includes a 48-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with OIS, 3.3x optical zoom, and 30x digital zoom, and a 2-megapixel monochrome lens.

The CAD renders of the OnePlus 10 Pro that emerged in the previous week revealed that it will be equipped with a triple camera unit. According to the tipster, the OnePlus 10 Pro’s camera setup will include an ordinary telephoto camera that offers 3.3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. hence, there is a possibility that it may retain the same telephoto lens that was made available on the predecessor model.

It could be coupled with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage. It will run on Android 12, which will be overlaid with a new UI that will offer a customized experience of OxygenOS and ColorOS.

The frontside of the phone will feature a punch-hole display. It may feature the same 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz display that was seen on the OnePlus 9 Pro. 65W charging and 4500mAh+ batteries may become standard with next-gen Snapdragon 898 flagships

Next-generation flagship phones equipped with the upcoming Snapdragon 898 (Snapdragon 8 Gen1) processor may come with a battery capacity starting with 4,500mAh and have at least 65W flash charging as standard.

snapdragon 898 flagships 65w 4500mah dcs

The info comes from reliable leakster Digital Chat Station through a post on Weibo. A similar post on the platform had also revealed earlier that Qualcomm will be ditching its typical Snapdragon xxx moniker for the upcoming flagship chip in favor of ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen1’. MediaTek has already pulled something similar, renaming its Dimensity 2000 chip to Dimensity 9000.

Chinese phones, particularly those from BBK Electronics subsidiaries (OPPO, realme, OnePlus), have already started arriving with 65W charging support even in the mid-range, so it doesn’t really come as a surprise. And on top of that, companies like OPPO and Xiaomi have even begun working on tech to cross the 125W mark.

Redmi Note 11 series 120W fast charging

And as for 4,500mAh batteries, it comes as a necessity really, given the power-hungry processors and displays that have grown larger and smoother than ever. 120Hz displays have already become standardized in flagship phones and are known to consume much more power than 60Hz, hence the push for larger batteries.

Coming to the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 itself, or whatever you want to call it ahead of its launch, it is said to offer a 20 percent performance improvement over its predecessor. It will be featuring a prime ARM Cortex-X2 CPU core running at 3.0GHz, three Cortex-A710 based mid-cores clocked at 2.5GHz and four efficient Cortex-A510 derived cores running at 1.79GHz. Samsung’s 4nm process will be used in manufacturing it.

HUAWEI Refurbished Smartphones Featured AAs Huawei’s smartphone business is in trouble, the company is doing everything it can do to stay alive. Recently, it has even begun to license its hardware designs to other brands.

Further, these devices undergo strict ‘Huawei quality’ inspections. They also come with a 1-year warranty. Hence, Huawei advertises them as value for money.

realme’s mysterious ‘crossover’ teaser has got everyone scratching their heads

Monday is usually the favorite time for Chinese smartphone OEMs to drop teasers for their upcoming stuff, and we saw a few from companies like OPPO and Honor. However, realme’s teaser stood out the most given its irregular theme.

realme dropped a new poster this morning stating that the “most significant crossover in the history of science and technology” will be announced tomorrow morning.

realme crossover poster

It’s unclear what realme means by this, which is exactly what that’s got us scratching our heads. Tipsters seem to be quite clueless too. Still, the “realme x _____” tagline on the poster points towards some kind of collaboration with another brand. IT Home further says that the product released as part of the collab may not be a part of realme’s regular product line.

realme recently hit its phone sales target of 10 million units for 2021 in China, that too ahead of schedule, and as a result seems to be focusing on other products now.

Xu Qi, VP of realme China earlier said through a post on Weibo that high-res punch-hole displays will become mainstream in 2022, with new tech such as foldable and under-display growing more mature. While this does imply realme launching their own foldable device next year, it is unclear if today’s crossover poster is for the same.

Regardless, the suspense will be over tomorrow when the company drops some more details, so stay tuned.

TikTok ban lifted in Pakistan after four months; company agrees to content moderation

Pakistan’s media regulator, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), has yet again lifted a ban imposed on TikTok after around four months. The move comes after the short video-sharing social media platform assured that it would control indecent content on the platform.

For those who are unaware, this is the fourth time in the past 15 months that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority imposed and lifted such a ban on TikTok. The platform was first blocked in October last year over what the regulator described as widespread complaints about allegedly “immoral, obscene, and vulgar” content on the app.

TikTok App

A statement issued by PTA said: “Subsequent to imposition of ban on 20 July 2021, PTA remained in communications with the TikTok management. As a result of continuous engagement, senior management of the platform assured PTA of its commitment to take necessary measures to control unlawful content in accordance with local laws and societal norms.”

Earlier this month, China-based TikTok and the PTA officials held a detailed discussion regarding content moderation on the social networking application in line with the local laws and societal norms.

In the meeting, the company highlighted initiatives, future strategies, and investments in the local market for ensuring safe, productive, informative, and legitimate content for Pakistani users. The app has been downloaded almost 39 million times in Pakistan.

TikTok has been banned in India since June last year along with a host of Chinese applications by the government. The app, which had about 200 million users at the time it was banned in India, is hoping to re-enter the Indian market.

According to OPPO Smart Life official Weibo account, the smartphone brand will launch a new OPPO Enco product on November 25 in China. It will be presented at the OPPO Reno7 series launch conference.

As per the teaser page on OPPO’s official website and a product listing on OPPO Mall, this audio product is officially called OPPO Enco Free2i. Going by its name, we expect it to be a variant of OPPO Enco Free2 with some differences.

Unfortunately, the company hasn’t revealed anything about these wireless earbuds so far. Anyway, we expect to learn more about them before their announcement this Thursday.

For those unaware, the OPPO Enco Free2 earphones feature an AirPods-like design. However, their case is ovoid in shape. The main highlights of these earbuds are that they are tuned by Dynaudio and have support for up to 42dB active noise cancellation.

Other notable features of this TWS include up to 30-hour battery life, personalized sound boost, and gestures for camera controls.
