Google PixelBook 2 laptop is not getting launched anytime soon

Google PixelBook Go laptop from the technology giant was launched around two years ago and everyone was expecting the company to launch its successor given that the original PixelBook was also launched two years prior to the PixelBook Go.

However, if you are among those who have been waiting for the PixelBook 2 or whatever the next-generation PixelBook laptop ends up being called, then you are in for a disappointment as the company has confirmed it isn’t coming until 2023.

Pixelbook Go featured

At Qualcomm‘s press event in London, Chrys Tsolaki, Retail Partner Manager for Chromebooks at Google, was asked about the company working on a new Pixelbook laptop and she replied that there won’t be anything coming from Google in the next year and added that she doesn’t know about the future. This was reported by Trusted Reviews.

This means that the next Google-branded laptop is not getting launched this year or the next year (i.e. 2022). There’s a possibility of it getting launched in 2023 but it’s just speculation as there’s no concrete information available about it.

Google is the creator of the Chrome OS and thus a Google-branded Chromebook has its own appeal, but other manufacturers are also launching some impressive Chromebooks in the market and you can still get your hands on the PixelBook Go.

PUBG New State is now available to download for Android via Google Play Store

PUBG: New State, which was announced a couple of months back, is now finally available to download through the Google Play Store for Android smartphone users in India. While it has been launched for Android, the iOS version is yet to get released.

The PUBG: New State game can now be downloaded through the Google Play Store but on the Apple iOS Store, it is still listed for pre-registration. We expect it to be available for iOS users also sometime later today.

As for the requirements, the Android users will need a device with at least 2GB of RAM and Android version 6 or above. For iOS users, the requirement is an iPhone or iPad running the iOS version 13 or later. For Android devices, the size of the game is around 1.4GB while for Apple devices, it is about 1.5GB.

For those who are unaware, PUBG: New State is a battle royale game developed by PUBG Studios and comes a few months after Battlegrounds Mobile India aka BGMI. While the BGMI game is exclusive to India, PUBG: New State has been released globally.

Similar to PUBG Mobile and BGMI, the game is free to play and features a modern/urban setting for its intense battle royale-style gameplay. It appears that the company is recycling resources from the original PUBG Mobile game but has added a futuristic twist with game elements like futuristic vehicles and weapons.

Krafton has called its creation “one of the most realistic and technologically advanced mobile games to date” and has promised “a strong and consistent pipeline of new content, global service support, and anti-cheat measures” after the game gets launched.

If you are about to download this new One UI 4 beta update for your smartphone, then do keep in mind that it is not yet stable, and thus it could cause some issues while you’re using it. Moto G71 images, key specifications emerge through TENAA listing

Motorola announced the Moto G51 smartphone at the beginning of this month. Speculations are rife that the next G-series phone from the brand could be the Moto G71. It appears that the phone may debut soon as it appears in the database of the TENAA certification platform. While the TENAA listing is not accessible, a tipster from China has shared the images and key specs of the device.

The Moto G71’s TENAA images show that it is equipped with a punch-hole display. The device’s right edge has three buttons, which could be for volume, power, and voice assistant. The rear shell of the device has a triple camera unit. It is unclear whether the phone features an in-screen fingerprint scanner or whether the biometric feature is embedded on the company’s logo placed on the back.

The model number of G71’s China variant is XT2169-1. It is equipped with a 6.4-inch OLED panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. A 4,700mAh battery is present under the hood of the device.

The G71 is driven by a 2.2Ghz octa-core processor that supports 5G connectivity. The G51 is powered by the Snapdragon 480 Plus chipset. It is unclear whether the same chipset fuels the G71.

The Moto G71 is equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack. The device has a thickness of 8.4mm and weighs 180 grams. With TENAA certification under the belt, the G71 is expected to debut at some point this month.

In related news, the Moto G71 was certified by the FCC certification site last month. It only revealed that the device would come with connectivity features such as 5G and NFC.

Moto G Power (2022) full specifications, images leaked

Yesterday, the upcoming Motorola Moto G Power (2022) was spotted at the Geekbench benchmarking site. Now, GizNext has shared the official renders and specifications of the smartphone. It appears that it won’t take too long for the device to go official.

Moto G Power (2022) specifications (Rumored)

The Moto G Power (2022) has a 6.5-inch TFT Max Vision display that offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio, 269ppi pixel density, and a 90Hz refresh rate. For selfies, it will feature an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

The rear camera setup of the Moto G Power (2022) is led by a 50-megapixel lens. It is assisted by a 2-megapixel depth sensor and an LED flash. The device comes preinstalled with Android 11. A fingerprint scanner is found under the ‘M’ logo available on the backside of G Power (2022).

On Geekbench, the handset was spotted with the Helio G35. However, the leak states that it is driven by the Helio G37, which seems to be an updated version of the G35. It is equipped with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage. For additional storage, it has a microSD card slot.

The G Power (2022) has a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging. It offers other features such as dual SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an IP52 rated chassis. The device measures 167.24 x 76.54 x 9.36mm. The leak has no information on the launch date and pricing of the smartphone.

Google Pixel 6 series could get Face Unlock support in future update

Google recently launched its flagship Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones which are touted as the best Android smartphones right now. However, they are not perfect as the premium phones have several issues.

One of the issues on the phone is slow fingerprint recognition but it seems that the tech giant has something up its sleeves to make the unlocking process a bit faster. It appears that the company is planning to introduce Face Unlock for the Pixel 6 lineup pretty soon.

Google Pixel 6

Interestingly, the Face Unlock feature on the Pixel 6 series smartphones was spotted in earlier leaks but the functionality was removed when the devices were launched. Now, an XDA Developers contributor Freak07 has found references to the Face Unlock feature, hinting that the feature could be rolled out.

The feature is being referred to as Tuscany internally and it appears that Google is trying to make it more power-efficient and this could be the reason for it being pulled out from the devices ahead of getting launched.

Do note that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro doesn’t come with dedicated hardware for face unlocking which means that even when the feature is rolled out, it will be dependent on the phone’s front-facing camera sensor.

It’s noteworthy that the presence of the code in the repository doesn’t necessarily mean that the feature will be rolled out. So, we would advise you to take this new information with a pinch of salt.

BOE says it has shipped about 40 million flexible AMOLEDs between Q1 & Q3 2021

China’s BOE Display is renowned worldwide for the supply of LCD panels for phone manufacturers. The company used to rank behind LG in this aspect of LCD panel shipments but last year, it beat LG to emerge as the world’s largest LCD manufacturer. That is most likely because LG has shifted its focus to OLED display panels. BOEBOE is also making inroads into the AMOLED market. The company first showed off its flexible AMOLED panels in 2017. Since then, it had commenced mass production. The latest report by the company on its investors’ platform shows that overall flexible AMOLED shipments continued to increase. The company disclosed it shipped an estimated 40 million units in the first three quarters of 2021, that is Q1, Q2, and Q3. This result shows the company has continued to maintain substantial year-on-year growth.

At the same time, BOE also disclosed that it has supplied many of the top electronics companies with flexible AMOLED panels. It is also looking to expand its brand customers to more product series. In the future, with the increase in customer demand and the smooth climb of the flexible AMOLED production line, product shipments are expected to continue to grow rapidly.

POCO M4 Pro 5G vs POCO X3 Pro: Specs Comparison

Xiaomi just launched the POCO M4 Pro 5G in the global market: it is essentially a rebrand of the Redmi Note 11 (there is only a small difference in the design) and it carries an outstanding price tag. Thanks to a launch deal, the phone has been made available for just €199: an amazing price for a mid-ranger with 5G and great overall specifications. But there is another POCO device available since early this year that carries astonishing street prices, and it is a flagship killer: we are talking about the POCO X3 Pro. Does it make sense to go for the new POCO M4 Pro 5G or the POCO X3 Pro is actually a better deal? This comparison between their specifications will shed some light on this question.

Xiaomi POCO M4 Pro 5G vs Xiaomi POCO X3 Pro

ADDITIONAL FEATURES Dual SIM slot, 5G, IP53 certification Dual SIM slot, 5G, IP53 certification

Design

The advantage of the POCO M4 Pro 5G is the fact that it is a more compact phone, while the POCO X3 Pro is a very chunky device as it weighs 215 grams and it is 9.4 mm thick. The POCO M4 Pro 5G is not among the thinnest and most lightweight phones, but it is definitely easier to use with one hand and to keep in a pocket. On the other hand, the POCO X3 Pro looks to have better build quality as its display sports the Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Both the phones have a plastic body, so do not expect premium materials. But they both come with some kind of water and dust resistance (the IP53 certification).

Display

The display of the POCO X3 Pro is not only wider if compared to the POCO M4 Pro 5G, but even superior in terms of image quality. Unfortunately, it is an IPS panel, so if you are looking for those bright colors you get with AMOLED displays, you will be left disappointed. But it comes with an amazing 120 Hz refresh rate and the HDR10 certification improving the image quality on streaming platforms. The POCO M4 Pro 5G comes with a Full HD+ IPS display as well, but its refresh rate goes up to 90 Hz and the phone lacks the HDR10 certification. Despite being very affordable, these two handsets sport a side-mounted fingerprint reader and stereo speakers.

Hardware/Software

The main advantage of the POCO X3 Pro is its amazing hardware department. Thanks to the Snapdragon 860 mobile platform which sits in the middle between Snapdragon 855+ and 865, it is able to provide flagship-class performance and that is the reason why it is a great device for gaming. The chip is paired with a RAM of up to 8 GB and a UFS 3.1 internal storage which furtherly enhances the overall performance. But there is one thing you need to know: the POCO X3 Pro lacks the 5G support. If you want a 5G phone, then you must accept the lower-end hardware department of the POCO M4 Pro 5G powered by the midrange-class MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset. Both the phones run Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 to customize it.

Camera

The POCO M4 Pro 5G is equipped with a new upgraded main camera sporting a 50 MP resolution: this camera is actually better than the 48 MP sensor found on the POCO X3 Pro. The POCO X3 Pro instead provides a better front camera with a 20 MP resolution. The POCO M4 Pro 5G has just one secondary sensor on the rear: the 8 MP ultrawide camera, while the POCO X3 Pro adds a pair of 2 MP sensors, but we consider them useless and I believe it is better to get a device with a better main camera such as the POCO M4 Pro 5G.

Battery

The POCO X3 Pro is equipped with a slightly bigger battery sporting a capacity of 5160 mAh, but this does not mean that it provides a longer battery life in every scenario. Due to its higher refresh rate and the worse production process of its chipset, its battery life could be inferior with some usage patterns.

Xiaomi POCO M4 Pro 5G vs Xiaomi POCO X3 Pro: Price

POCO M4 Pro 5G starts from €199/$229, and you can currently find the POCO X3 Pro close to that price thanks to the best street prices. There is no definitive winner of this comparison: if you need 5G and a better camera, then POCO M4 Pro 5G is a smarter choice. But if you want a stronger processor and a better display, then go for the POCO X3 Pro (which would be my actual choice).

BMW’s futuristic-looking CE 04 e-bike enters full production

German luxury carmaker BMW says it has begun the production of its innovative electric motorbike with a top speed of 75mph called the CE 04. The new motorbike packs lots of features that could stand it out as a leader in that segment of electric vehicles. When its design was unveiled in 2020, many industry buffs had criticized its overly ambitious design as unrealistic, hence it could end up as just a concept vehicle.BMW CE 04

Obviously, by the time it was introduced, BMW had already overcome major challenges in the production trajectory for the CE 04. It has now gone ahead to begin production of actual units of the CE 04 in the company’s plant in Berlin, Germany. The CE 04 seems like a hybrid of a high-end scooter and a light e-bike, with a top speed of 75mph (120km/h). Its 42 horsepower electric motor provides the power for the vehicle. The CE 04 is in the same power class as a few other leading manufacturers of e-bikes.

The CE 04 can go from 0 to 31mph in just about 3 seconds, which is very impressive. A second model will also begin production. It will have a smaller power rating and achieve a top speed in a little bit longer time. The battery of the higher CE 04 is rated 8.9 kWh and offers a range of 81 miles (130km), while the reduced-power model has a range of 62 miles (100 km). The new electric motorcycle also has some advanced driver aids for overall stability and safety. They include Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and a reverse gear for a more compelling driving experience. The reverse gear is a wonderful addition to the CE 04 for greater flexibility in navigation. Several flexible charging options will be available for the BMW CE 04, including via the home wall socket. Fast charging functionality is also included, according to BMW.BMW CE 04

The CE 04 will be the predecessor of a lot of urban mobility vehicles that are in the pipeline for production by BMW. A Police version of the CE 04 has also been produced. It is outfitted with sirens, tactical storage, and lights. The first units of the CE 04 should enter the market by 2022 with a price tag in the region of about $12,000.

MediaTek chip shipments ranked first in Q3, UNISOC surged to over 10000% year-on-year

A new report has revealed the shipments of mobile phone processors in the Chinese market for the month of September as well as the third quarter of 2021, with MediaTek seeing a strong performance in the region.

Top 5 Smartphone chipmakers in China – September 2021

Mediatek

According to a report by CINNO on total chip shipments in September 2021, Qualcomm came in at the top with 8.6 million units sold with an amazing increase of 59.2% compared to September of last year. The chipmaker was however down by 18.5% when compared to its sales of august. MediaTek saw lackluster results in September as their sales went down 17.5% compared to August and 2.8% in comparison with September 2020.

With its September release, Apple saw robust demand for the iPhone 13 series. This meant that its A-series chips also saw a rise, with shipments increasing by 32.5% quarter-on-quarter and 43.5% year-on-year. This major release has been attributed as the main factor in the decline of Android-based SoC sales in China for the month of September.

Huawei’s HiSilicon suffered a 27.7% decrease in its September sales compared to August and 74.8% in comparison with September 2020. UNISOC also experienced a decrease in its September sales numbers by 19.1% but soared an astounding 10291.3% in contrast to September 2020.

Ubuntu’s Publishers make it easier to run Linux on the M1 Mac

Earlier today, the publisher of Ubuntu, Canonical, released ‘the quickest way’ to run Linux cross-platforms on M1 Macs. Multipass allows users to launch a virtual machine image with a single command and run Linux on an M1 Mac in less than 30 seconds.

Ubuntu Multipass

While Canonical has claimed to be the first platform to convert the M1 mac on a Linux computer, the Linux Kernel Devs on the other hand have been improving their platform monthly to offer the most pleasant experience possible on the Mac, stating their Linux project is now “Usable as a basic desktop”.

For now, Multipass is probably the easiest and most feature-rich way to use Linux on the M1 Mac. Nathen Hart, the Canonical product manager stated that “Canonical wants to get developers running on Linux faster than any other option on the market, and the Multipass team has helped accomplish that”. In other words, the Multipass would be quite useful for cloud application developers, web developers, and other Linux-based developers looking to get their hands on Apple’s M1 Mac.

Multipass can launch and run virtual machines and configure them with cloud-init like a public cloud. It allows you to prototype your cloud launches locally for free. Multipass version 1.8.0 also allows users to bind commands within a VM to commands on the host OS.

This electric scooter resembles a Vespa, has a 120km range, but costs just ₹79,999 ($1076)

Hyderabad-based electric two-wheeler company PURE had launched the EPluto 7G electric scooter earlier this year but it clearly hasn’t received the recognition it deserves. The scooter’s main highlight is the range of up to 120km it offers on a full charge, coupled with the 2200W power its motor produces.

But perhaps the biggest attraction is the design. It screams retro and is reminiscent of the old Bajaj Chetak models, especially when you look at its tail light. Still, the design borrows the most from the Vespa Notte 125 thanks to a rounded but slender body, circular LED headlamp, and chrome-finished mirrors.

Don’t get too carried away by its old-fashioned looks though as the vehicle is packed with technology. With features such as a 5-inch LCD display, Smart Lock with AntiTheft provision, multiple speed modes, and disc-brakes on the front, it’s clear that the EPluto 7G is no ordinary two-wheeler.

Moving on to the power supply, the scooter packs a portable 60V 2.5kWh battery that can be filled up easily from your home. It is capable of a range of approximately 90-120kms on a single complete charge, which takes up to 4 hours. The electric motor powered by it produces high torque and can run the scooter at a max speed of 60kmph.

Other specifications include an acceleration time of 5 seconds to reach 40kmph, 10-inch alloy wheels, 12-degree gradability, and comfortable seating for two persons.

The PURE EPluto 7G electric scooter comes in multiple color options namely Ruby Red, Shadow Black, Electron Blue, Active Grey, Pearly White, and Stripling Yellow. It sells at a price of ₹79,999 (ex-showroom), with No Cost EMI options starting from ₹2,838 per month.

India delays 5G auction as Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea get 6 month trial extension: Report

While the smartphone market in India has already seen the launch of a number of 5G enabled devices, 5G networking is still not commercially available in the region. Now, a new report has revealed that the original plans for 5G auctions might be even further delayed as well.

India

Previously, we had reported on the Indian government planning on holding the 5G spectrum auction in November 2021. However, this was rumored to have been pushed back to the first quarter of next year. But now, it seems like the auctions have been postponed even further. The reason for the delay is the six month 5G trial extension that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has given to a number of telecommunication operators in the country.

This includes the likes of Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea (Via ETTelecom). Initially, these telecos were granted permission to conduct trials in the 3500MHz band that was allocated by the government. But while these trials were set to expire later this month on November 26, the Department of Telecommunications has apparently extended the 5G trials by an additional six months. This, in turn, means that the 5G spectrum auctions might be held at a date around May of next year.

India

The news arrives from sources close to the mater who stted that a lot of works still needs to be done on spectrum availability. Furthermore, even the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has also yet to provide recommendation on a number of bands. This includes the 700 MHz, 3.3 to 3.6GHz and the millimeter wave.
