Bose has launched the SoundLink Flex, a portable Bluetooth speaker with some rugged features and 12 hours of playtime. It is IP67 water and dust-resistant and has a pretty affordable $149 price tag.

The SoundLink Flex comes with a rugged design as well as some astonishing audio output for a speaker of such compact size. The Bose SoundLink Flex is 7.9 inches wide, 3.6 inches high, and 2.1 inches thick. It weighs just 1 pound (450 grams), with a built-in utility loop for attaching it to a carabiner. The Bluetooth speaker’s silicone back and powder-coated steel grille are designed to resist corrosion and possible discoloration from ultraviolet light. The IP67 rating means that the speaker is pool-safe and will float to the surface when dropped in water.

The built-in mic of the SoundLink Flex can be used for taking calls and supports Voice Assistant interfacing with your smartphone. The Bose SoundLink Flex Bluetooth speaker can be linked with other units for enhanced sound output. With its custom transducer, the device can produce good sounds and the PositionIQ feature enables the speaker to adjust the audio output according to the speaker’s orientation.

Three color variants are available namely: black, blue, and smoke white. The Bose SoundLink Flex Bluetooth speaker seems to be well-priced at $149 although there are already some popular Bluetooth speakers from different brands. Bose will however hope the great features and affordability of the SoundLink Flex Bluetooth speaker will stand it out among its competitors.

Acer has introduced a feature that is increasingly common with high-end TVs in its latest Predator gaming projectors. The variable refresh rate (VRR) is one of the standout features of the Acer GD 711 and GM 712 4K projectors.

The new Acer gaming-centric projectors will debut in China in November 2021, and subsequently in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa between December 2021 and January 2022. The new projectors are priced between $1,600 and $1,800 although there is no indication yet on their US availability.

The Acer GD 711 is a LED projector capable of 1,450 ANSI lumens brightness and supports HDR10. It supports 4K resolution in standard mode and its variable refresh rate mode helps to modulate the image quality even when using very powerful gaming consoles and fast PCs.

The GD 711 offers 1080p resolution in VRR mode but boosts the refresh rate as appropriate dynamically. The GD 711 has a wide range of possible throw sizes but Acer recommends a 100-inch screen projected from a distance of about 2.7 meters. The projector has an estimated lifespan of 30,000 hours in Eco mode or 20,000 hours in standard mode.

The Acer GM 712 gaming projector is lamp-based and slightly heavier than the GD 711. It is also less expensive than the GD 711 and offers 3,600 ANSI lumens of brightness with a lifespan estimated between 5,000 and 12,000 hours. The variable refresh rate mode is also present in the GM 712, as well as HDR 10 and 4K resolution.

Both the GD 711 and GM 712 have the Aptoide TV App Store built-in together with the different ports including HDMI and USB-A. The VRR technology in projectors is an innovation that makes the two models arguably the only projectors with the VRR feature.

AMD has announced the unveiling of its latest graphics card, the AMD Radeon RX 6600. This is coming on the heels of the earlier release of the Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics card in July 2021. The AMD Radeon RX 6600 with RDNA-2 architecture is a GPU AMD is proclaiming as well suited for gaming applications. It supports a high gaming refresh rate of 1080p.

Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.6 will launch in November

Lenovo has been teasing the upcoming Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.6 for quite a long time. Recently, the tablet’s features were leaked and now, its launch date has been tipped.

Lenovo on WeChat revealed that the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.6 will launch in November. It means next month the tablet will be launched exclusively in China. Additionally, it will run on the ZUI 13 software skin. Under the custom skin, the device will boot on the Android 11 out of the box.

Earlier, the tablet was teased on social media and it revealed that it will feature a JBL powered speaker. The speakers will have support for Dolby Atmos. It will have a 12.6-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. The screen will have a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. It will also sport an HDR10+, DC Dimming, and TUV Rheinland EyeSafe protection support.

It will make use of a dual-camera system at both the front and rear. The front will have an 8MP main lens accompanied by a ToF sensor, whereas, the rear will get a 13MP main and a 5MP secondary sensor. It is speculated to have the same chipset as the predecessor Pad Pro 2021 i.e. the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and a massive 10,200mAh battery. The battery will support a 45W fast charging support.

The Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.6 is expected to cost similarly to the older Xiaoxin Pad Pro model. It means we can expect it to be priced in the sub CNY 2,999(~$465) range. Now that the tablet’s launch details are revealed and there are still a few weeks left for it, we can expect some last batch of leaks to surface. Once, we receive more information, we’ll update you on the same.

Samsung has an event scheduled for October 20 and there are guesses flying around as to what the announcement is for. One of those guesses is that the long-awaited Galaxy S21 FE will be unveiled on that day. Now, sources are saying that not only will the phone not launch on that day but it won’t come until January 2022.

This isn’t the first time we have heard that the Galaxy S21 FE will launch next year but following Samsung’s announcement of a Galaxy Unpacked Part 2, there are those hoping the phone will be announced at the event.

A tweet by Ross Young, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants said the Galaxy S21 FE will likely not launch next week and ship by the end of October. This is because mass production for the phone doesn’t begin until December thus aligning with a January 2022 release date.

The January launch date has also been corroborated by Jon Prosser and Max Weinbach. Jon even specifically mentions that the launch date is January 11, 2022.

The Galaxy S21 FE is a more affordable version of the Galaxy S21. It is the successor to the Galaxy S20 FE which launched last year. The phone will have a Snapdragon 888 processor powering it but there is likely to be an Exynos version judging from a Geekbench listing.

The phone will also have a 1080p AMOLED display with a 120hz refresh rate and a centered punch hole for a 32MP camera. On the back will be triple cameras stacked vertically. If it were launching this year, it should come with Android 11 out of the box but with the release pushed to January, Android 12 pre-installed will be nice.

Last month, Japanese tech giant SHARP unveiled the AQUOS Zero6 smartphone in Japan. The device brought an enticing specs sheet to the table with its whopping 240Hz refresh rate screen and Snapdragon processor. Today, the phone is available on the shelves across Japan.

The SHARP AQUOS Zero6 is priced at ¥69,800(~$615) and is available from Rakuten Mobiles. It has three colour variants – Black, White, and Purple. As of now, the phone is exclusive to Japan but it is expected to reach global markets later this year.

Vivo recently launched the X70 smartphone series in multiple markets with impressive camera tech. Now, after a few weeks, the rumours for its successor Vivo X80 have started to boil.

The alleged Vivo X80 will come with a Full-HD+ resolution screen. It will support a 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of cameras, the device will feature a 50MP main lens with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size. The sensor will support 5-axis VIS stabilization. It will be accompanied by a 12MP portrait sensor.

Foxconn’s first EV with “Foxtron” badge will debut on October 18, live images appear

Electronic manufacturer Foxconn has been making effort to enter the emerging EV market. The company recently announced the acquisition of the Ohio factory of embattled US EV startup Lordstown Motors in a deal worth $230 million. Apparently, the Taiwanese company is in the advanced stage of its car manufacturing journey. It has now emerged that the brand’s first electric vehicle will be unveiled in a few days’ time — precisely on October 18.

The Original Device Manufacturer (ODM) had a few days back released a couple of teasers giving us a silhouette view of the EV. The front view of the new car has the name “FOXTRON” inscribed, suggesting that will be the name of the car brand. The company is said to be planning to unveil not just one EV but three electric cars.

According to the teaser images, the car is a sedan incorporating sports car elements into the body shape in the style of a four-door coupe. According to visual inspection, the size is expected to be equivalent to that of electric vehicles such as the Weilai ET7. In detail, the new car adopts through-type light strips at the front and rear, which is very technological. In addition, the vehicle will also support remote updates and different levels of automatic driving assistance functions.

In terms of performance, FOXTRON will launch battery packs with capacities of 93Wh, 100Wh, and 116kWh. The output power of the front motor of the model built is 95kW, 150kW and 200kW, and the output power of the rear motor is 150kW, 200kW, 240kW and 340kW.

A number of mobile phone manufacturers are developing their own processors to use in their phones. It has been reported that the upcoming Pixel 6 series will receive 4 years of software upgrades and 5 years of security patches. This means its last major software upgrade will be Android 16 which should be released in 2025.
