Realme could be close to the official launch of its latest super-slim and lightweight laptop, the Realme Book Slim. A tipster, Yogesh has provided some detailed specifications of the device. The details are the most comprehensive yet we have seen for the device.
We already knew that Realme was working on a new laptop slated for unveiling later this year. But little was known about the device, with official Realme teasers not yielding the expected details. However, all these have changed if we are to rely on the authenticity of the tipster’s information.
The Realme Book Slim will sport a 14-inch 2K display with a decent 2160×1440 pixels screen resolution and 300 nits peak brightness. Realme has taken serious considerations for eye safety by getting blue light certification for the device. The audio input and output functionalities are enhanced by a triple microphone setup and two Harmon Kardon speakers.
The Realme Book Slim will be powered by Intel’s Core i5 processor and Xe Graphics. The laptop is lightweight (1.3kg) and packs 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. There is also a fingerprint sensor and a 54Wh battery with support for 65W fast charging. Realme TechLife today shared a teaser on Twitter that shows the device will charge via a USB-C port. Samsung is known for many innovative smartphones. The company’s Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ were the first mainstream phones to come with a variable aperture camera. The firm’s new utility patent demonstrates a new solution, which not only enables variable FoV (Field of View) but also variable aperture.
According to a report by LetsGoDigital, Samsung Electro-Mechanics filed a utility patent titled ‘Camera module and portable electronic device including the same’ with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in October 2020. The 19-page documentation for this patent was initially released on August 5, 2021.
According to the documentation, the patent uses multiple cameras that can move. Their movement helps in achieving variable FoV (Field of View) and variable aperture.
The patent sketches and images use a triple camera setup consisting of a wide-angle snapper, an ultra-wide unit, and a telephoto shooter. Users can move these cameras via touch input.
As per the example, when the wide-angle camera present in the middle moves downwards, the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras on the left and the right respectively slide inwards forming a triangle.
When the cameras are in a triangular shape, the aperture is narrow. This can be useful for landscape shots. Whereas, when the cameras are in a single line, the aperture is wide, which is useful for portrait photography. On top of this, the movement also changes FoV (Field of View).
We don’t think Samsung will ever release a mainstream smartphone with this tech. But maybe there could be a niche Galaxy smartphone with movable cameras in the future like the Galaxy A80 from 2019.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 launches this week and we should get details about its availability at the unpacked event. As Samsung is known to do, those who pre-order its flagships usually get extra perks, and now details of the pre-order benefits for the Galaxy Z Fold3 have been revealed.

This is the "Note Pack" you get when pre-ordering the Z Fold3. Case + Pen and the 25W Charger. It's worth 89€ (says Samsung). #SamsungEventpic.twitter.com/3mijlkzq4Q
The leaker also shared an image of the pack and it shows that the case is the special one designed to house a stylus while the power brick has a USB-C port and a UK plug. All three items come in black. There is a possibility that the pre-order gifts will vary from region to region.
What the pack also hints at is that Samsung won’t ship the Galaxy Z Fold3 with a power brick in the box unlike its predecessor the Galaxy Z Fold2. That is disappointing considering the Galaxy Z Fold3 costs a lot. According to a leak from last week, the phone will have a starting price of €1,899.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 will have a 6.2-inch cover display, a 7.6-inch inner display, an in-display camera, triple rear cameras, support for stylus input, and an IPX8 rating.
Xiaomi has confirmed to unveil the Mi Pad 5 series at the Mi MIX 4 launch event on August 10. Ahead of that, like any other Chinese brand, the company has been teasing the features of its upcoming tablets for the past few days. As per one of these teasers, the product will come with a specialized software feature.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Teaser
According to Liu Ming, Product Manager of MIUI, the forthcoming Mi Pad 5 series will arrive with a new MIUI Security app designed specifically for tablets. But unfortunately, he does not reveal anything more.
For those who don’t know, the ‘Security’ app found in MIUI is responsible for many core features of Xiaomi’s Android skin. Hence, it cannot be uninstalled like multiple other system apps on MIUI 12.5. It is worth noting that as much as useful the MIUI Security app is, it is also the root cause of unwanted promotional notifications (aka Ads).
The MIUI Security app not only includes security options but also battery settings, Game Turbo Mode, and storage cleaner to name a few. Since these features slightly differ for tablets in terms of both UI and functionality, the company will be introducing a redesigned app on the Mi Pad 5 series.
As of now, it’s not known whether Xiaomi will be using the current MIUI Security application package for its tablets or will be releasing a separate package altogether.

Smartphone brands that sell laptops have a software feature that enables users to control their phones from their computers. The most notable such solutions are HUAWEI Multi Screen and Samsung DeX. Even Xiaomi has been public testing one called MIUI+ for almost a year now.
We recently reported that OPPO is working on a similar feature called ‘Cross Screen Interconnection’. It is currently under testing and is said to debut with ColorOS 12.
But it looks like the realme version of this same feature could go official as soon as this month. As per the latest teaser for realme Book, the brand will be calling this feature ‘PC Connect’.
For those who don’t know, realme and OnePlus are sister brands of OPPO, and they come under Ouija Holdings Ltd. The duo shares almost everything with OPPO, including software. In simpler words, the smartphones from these three brands run ColorOS with some modifications to differentiate themselves.
Since realme happens to be the first out of the three Oujia brands to release laptops, it gets the first dibs at the new cross-device connection feature. As of now, we don’t know anything about this feature. It’s also not clear whether the global version will be different from the Chinese.
The HONOR V7 Pro high-end tablet has been confirmed to go official at the HONOR Magic3 series launch event on August 12. Ahead of that, the brand has been teasing the features of this device for the past few days. Now, thanks to a leaker, we know everything (except price) about this upcoming premium tablet from the former sub-brand of HUAWEI.
HONOR V6 (aka HONOR ViewPad 6)
Prolific leakster Ishan Agarwal has partnered with MySmartPrice to share the entire specifications of the forthcoming HONOR V7 Pro. According to him, the tablet might be called HONOR Tab V7 Pro in global markets.
However, we will continue to call it HONOR V7 Pro in this article since it’s known by this name in China. That’s not all, its predecessor is known as HONOR ViewPad 6 in the official international press release. Above all, there’s no official word regarding the availability of this product outside the brand’s home country.
That being said, as per Agarwal, the HONOR V7 Pro will sport an 11-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, 267 PPI, 120Hz refresh rate, and 16:10 aspect ratio. It will be powered by a MediaTek Kompanio 1300T SoC.
The device will be available in multiple storage configurations like 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 256GB. As for software, it will run Magic UI 5.0. But unfortunately, the tipster does not mention the underlying OS name. As per rumors, the new version of HONOR’s mobile operating system could be based on HarmonyOS, at least in China.
Further, the product will feature a dual-camera setup on the back consisting of a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP macro shooter. It will be backed by a 7,250mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging.
The tablet will be available in LTE as well as WiFi-only variants. It will measure 252.1mmx163.6mmx7.2mm in dimensions and weigh 485g.
Last but not least, as per the official teasers, the HONOR V7 Pro tablet will feature a USB Type C port and will have support for both stylus as well as a floating keyboard accessory.

For those unaware, the Mi 11 Ultra is Xiaomi’s most expensive smartphone in India to date. It retails for ₹69,999 in the country. On the other hand, the Mi 11X is an upper mid-range smartphone, which starts from ₹29,999.

Google recently unveiled its Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro premium smartphones powered by its own Tensor chipset and will go on sale this fall. Prior to that, the company is expected to launch its Pixel 5a 5G smartphone later this month.
Now, it appears that there’s a new device planned to launch in the coming weeks or months from the search engine giant. An unknown device from Google has been approved by FCC, which is described as a “Wireless Streaming Device.”
While there’s a possibility that this is a new Chromecast dongle with model number GJQ9T as it’s similar to the model number used in last year’s device. However, Chromecast is described as an “Interactive Media Streaming Device” and not a “Wireless Streaming Device” which could be something new from the brand.
It could be a new NestCam device from the company but Google has already announced its latest Nest Doorbell and new Nest Cam last week, and this mystery streaming device hasn’t been announced or hinted at. So, it’s unlikely to be a product under the Nest lineup.
We expect to know more about this new device in the coming weeks and hopefully, it’s a newly revamped Google Chromecast. To know what the device is and what’s interesting about that, we will have to wait a bit longer.
OnePlus is no longer a brand that offers just premium flagship smartphones but also has a lineup of budget smartphones under OnePlus Nord branding. The OnePlus Nord N200 is the latest device in this series, priced at around $240.
With such low pricing, it’s obvious that the company compromised on some aspects of the smartphone. However, it seems that the device is good enough to survive JerryRigEverything’s durability test.
It’s noteworthy that during the bend test, something inside the phone seems to have snapped but what exactly happened has not been revealed by the YouTuber yet and for that, we will have to wait a bit longer. However, after the test, the device seems to be working properly even if something has broken internally.
In the scratch test for the display, the screen starts showing scratches from level 6 while level 7 starts having deeper grooves on the display panel which isn’t bad. This indicates that OnePlus opted for a glass display instead of a plastic panel.
The frame of the OnePlus Nord N200 is made up of plastic which can easily be scratched or cut off using a sharp object. Not just the frame, other components of the smartphone placed on the sides of the phone, including the volume button and a fingerprint scanner are also made using plastic materials.
The phone’s back panel, which appears to be made up of glass with a matte finish, is also made up of plastic, prone to scratches. The display of the smartphone survived the burn test. Although the screen went black for a certain area due to it, it started working again after a few seconds without any issues.

Xiaomi adds that it is not just a speaker but a concert hall for the computer. As the poster already hints, the new smart speaker will be adopting a cylindrical design, similar to premium devices in the market, including Apple’s HomePod. It is also expected to have support for different lighting effects.
It appears that the new smart speaker will be a part of the Xiaomi Speaker series. It will support UWB wireless transmission and can also cooperate with the Mi MIX 4 smartphone for a hardware-level smart home setup, offering an IoT experience.
Previously, in a teaser post, Xiaomi had stated that its first high-end smart speaker will launch with a ‘symphony of technology and art.’ The product might be the L16A Smart Speaker, which was spotted on WiFi Alliance.
The listing of the L16A Smart Speaker does not reveal any key specifications but it does state that the upcoming high-end audio product from Xiaomi also arrives with dual-band Wi-Fi support. This implies that it will be able to connect with users’ smart homes and would likely be able to act as a control hub that lets users control other smart home products can via voice commands.
This is just speculation at this point to know for sure, we will have to wait a day longer for the official event to take place.
