Last year, Qualcomm had launched Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC for wearable devices and now the company is gearing up to launch its successor, which is likely to be called Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 5100.
Folks at XDA-Developershave come across build ID “LAW.UM.2.0-00700-SW5100.00” while digging code in Qualcomm’s Code Aurora Forum. In this context, “LAW” stands for “Linux Android Wear” and for those who are unaware, Android Wear is the operating system that is now known as Wear OS.
The “UM” stands for “Unified Modem” and “SW5100” is referring to the Snapdragon Wear 5100 name. As per the report, the chip is codenamed “monaco.” It is expected to be based on Qualcomm’s “bengal” platform.
This new chip could come with a quad-core processor with ARM Cortex-A73 cores. For comparison, the current-generation Snapdragon 4100 comes with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 configuration.
The report goes on to mention that code snippets indicate that this new chip for wearable devices is based on Android 10 and Android 11. So, there’s a question mark about the support for the Wear OS 3 platform which is a unified version of Google and Samsung’s operating system for wearable devices.
Qualcomm has announced that the existing Snapdragon Wear 3100, 4100, and 4100+ chips are capable of running Wear OS 3 but it’s unlikely that the device manufacturers will be releasing a major update for the devices.
A few days ago, the company also announced the Wearables Ecosystem Accelerator program, which aims to have Qualcomm at the center of the upcoming Wear OS devices.
While Qualcomm has released a few chips for wearable devices, it has not been able to make its mark in this segment. Even smartphone makers are now slowly designing their own chips, Google is the latest example with its Tensor SoC. It will be interesting to see what Qualcomm has up its sleeves to remain a dominant player in the market.
Samsung has scheduled its next Galaxy Unpacked event on 11th August where the company will be launching its next-generation foldable smartphones — Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3, among a few other devices.
Ahead of the official announcement, key specifications and pricing details of the device have already been leaked for the Korean and European markets. Now, days before the official launch, the pricing details for the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 in the Indian market have surfaced online.
As per the report, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 will be priced around ₹1,35,000 which roughly converts to $1,818 but the recommended sale price is said to be ₹1,49,99 (approximately $2,020). On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip3 will be priced at ₹90,000, about $1,212 but will go on sale for around ₹80,000, approximately $1,077.
Based on the leaked pricing, the Galaxy Z Fold3 is pricier than its predecessor but the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip series smartphone will be the most affordable foldable smartphone available in the market.
When compared to European pricing, the Indian pricing of these upcoming foldable smartphones is significantly lower. As per Evan Blass, the Galaxy Z Fold model will start at €1,899 while the Galaxy Z Flip 3 at €1,099 in Europe.
This time, the company has also confirmed that the foldable smartphones will have support for the S Pen stylus, further improving the user experience of the larger screen devices. The development comes as the South Korean giant has canceled the Galaxy Note series.
To know for sure how the devices are priced, we will have to wait for the official Galaxy Unpacked launch event which is scheduled for 11th August. We expect the devices to go on sale soon after the official launch.
After weeks of leaks, Xiaomi has finally confirmed the Mi MIX 4 launch date. The company revealed through a Weibo post today that the Mi MIX 4 will be announced at 7:30 PM (local time) on Aug. 10. Multiple reports have revealed that the next generation MIX device will be the company’s first smartphone to feature an in-display camera.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 launch event will be held just a day before Samsung’s Unpacked event (Aug. 11) that will see the arrival of multiple products like the Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Watch4 series, and Galaxy Buds2. It is speculated that apart from launching the Mi MIX 4, Xiaomi may also announce other products like the Mi CC11 series, Mi Pad 5 lineup, and MIUI 13.
It is believed that the Xiaomi phone with the 2016118C model number that was recently seen at Chinese certification platforms like 3C and TENAA could be the Mi MIX 4 flagship. The 3C certification revealed that the device may come with a 120W fast charging. Rumors have it that the device will also carry support for 70W or 80W wireless charging.
The TENAA listing of the device has only revealed that it could be available in variants such as 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. Reports have suggested that its highest variant may offer 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Rumors have it that the company may use Micron’s LPPDR5 uMCP solution on the device.
It goes without saying that the Mi MIX 4 will continue to offer a truly bezeless experience since it will come equipped with an in-screen camera. Due to the incorporation of the new selfie camera tech, the Mi MIX 4 may only carry support for Full HD+ resolution. However, it is expected to offer a better viewing experience than conventional 1080p panels.
The Snapdragon 888 or the newer Snapdragon 888 Plus could be present under the hood of the Mi MIX 4. It could be backed by a 5,000mAh battery. The rear camera setup of the phone may feature a Samsung GN1s 50-megapixel primary camera, a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto snapper. It will come preinstalled with MIUI 12.5 based Android 11. A recent report claimed that it may come with UWB and mmWave 5G support.

The Honor ELZ-AN10 has scored 3556 and 10257 points in the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, respectively. The base frequency of the chipset is mentioned as 1.80GHz. However, its source code reveals that its prime core can score up to 3.00GHz. The source code has also revealed that it is equipped with Adreno 660 GPU.
These clues suggest that the ELZ-AN10 smartphone is driven by the all-new Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. The Geekbench has further revealed that the Magic 3 Pro is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and Android 11 OS.
Reliable tipster Teme recently released a render of the Honor Magic 3 series. It revealed that the device is equipped with a waterfall curved display with a pill-shaped cutout. The rear view of the phone shows that it has a round-shaped camera module that seems to house as many as five cameras and an LED flash. The penta-lens setup reportedly includes three 64-megapixel cameras, a 50-megapixel main camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Rumors have it that the Magic 3 will feature a 6.76-inch display that delivers 2272 x 1344 pixels resolution, up to 12 GB of RAM, a quad-camera setup and 66W rapid charging. Realme 8s
Recently, a new Realme phone with model number RMX3151 was seen at multiple certification sites such as FCC, TKDN (Indonesia), BIS (India), and EEC (Europe). A Columbian certification revealed that the RMX3151 will be arriving in the market with the Realme 8i moniker.
The FCC certification revealed that the Realme 8i measures 164.1 x 75.5 x 8.5mm and weighs 194 grams. The listing suggests that it could be a glass-bodied phone. A schematic of the device found in the FCC documents revealed that it is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The device will come preinstalled with Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. It will draw power from a 5,000mAh battery and it will come with connectivity features like dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. The handset does not seem to support 5G connectivity. The other specifications of the device are under the wraps.
Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has finally confirmed the Realme GT launch date for India. In the latest edition of the AskMadhav YouTube series, Sheth confirmed that both smartphones will be made official on Aug. 18. He also shared some other information about the upcoming Realme GT series for India.
The Realme GT 5G for India will have the same specs as its global edition. In addition, it will be available in the same colors as the global version, which means it will come in Dashing Silver, Dashing Blue, and Racing Yellow (leather variant). The Realme GT Master Edition inspired by traveling and suitcases will also debut alongside it.
Realme GT 5G
Last month in China, Realme unveiled the Realme GT Master Edition and GT Master Explorer Edition with ridged patterns and soft-touch leather inspired from suitcases. While the GT and GT Master are set to launch on Aug. 18, there is no word on whether the GT Master Explorer will be made available in India at some point.
Realme GT and GT Master Edition specifications
The Realme GT and GT Master Edition have a 6.43-inch S-AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display. While the former is powered by Snapdragon 888 and 12 GB of RAM, the latter features the Snapdragon 778G chip and 8 GB of RAM. The Galaxy S20 series is known for poor sales. As a result, Samsung not only released the Galaxy S21 series a month earlier but also priced it cheaper. Despite that, the latest Galaxy S series models sales figure is said to be even lower than that of its predecessors.
Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Ultra
According to a report by Kiwoom Securities (via Business Post), Samsung only managed to sell 13.5 million units of the Galaxy S21 series during its first six months in the market. The report states that the sales decreased by 20% and a whopping 47% when compared with the Galaxy S20 series and the Galaxy S10 series respectively.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series models are said to be the worst-performing Galaxy S series smartphones in the initial six months post-release. In fact, as per data, the sales of the Galaxy S lineup have been decreasing gradually every year.
Looks like people have lost interest in the iconic Galaxy S series. Unfortunately, that’s not the only bad news for Samsung. Chinese tech giant Xiaomi overtook the South Korean tech giant to become the largest smartphone brand in Europe for the first time in Q2 2021. For those unaware, Xiaomi is also the world’s second-largest smartphone brand at the moment.
Since there will not be a Galaxy Note this year, Samsung will continue promoting the Galaxy S21 series in the second half of the year to boost sales. However, the company will be focussing more on the Galaxy Z series of foldable smartphones.
To overcome this issue, Samsung is expected to use an AMD GPU-equipped Exynos chipset in the next year’s Galaxy S22 series. This SoC is said to be more powerful than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 895. The company anticipates that this differentiating factor will improve dwindling sales of the Galaxy S series.
According to the Chinese Weibo user that goes by Arsenal, OPPO has a Dimensity 810-powered phone scheduled for release soon. The Weibo post by the source says that the chipset is expected to have a similar performance to the Kirin 820.
The source goes on to mention that the unnamed OPPO phone will have an LCD panel with a high refresh rate and a large battery capacity too.
MediaTek does seem to have a couple of new chipsets planned for launch soon. Last month it was reported that a variant of the Dimensity 1100 called the Dimensity 1100U is coming soon. The source said the 6nm chipset is already being tested in a mid-range phone but the identity of the manufacturer is still unknown.
We expect these new processors and phones will arrive this month but before then, we should see more details surface.
In the buildup to the scheduled unveiling of the Magic 3 on August 12, Honor has released an official video teaser that highlights several features of the upcoming device. Some of the features showcased in the video include the display and cooling system.
What can be seen from the short video clip is that the screen of the Honor Magic 3 houses a pill-shaped cutout for the dual front camera setup. A sneak peek is also provided in the video of an animation of the cooling system well kitted to optimize the performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset.
Honor has continued to flourish since it exited from Huawei. The outlook remains bright for the company, and it would continue to pursue the delivery of innovative and attractive products in its areas of strength.
The Honor Magic 3 will have 8GB of RAM and it will run on Android 11 from the box. Further specs released indicate that the Honor Magic 3 has a monster 5 rear camera setup consisting of three 64MP sensors, a 50MP main shooter, and a 2MP depth helper.
There are still some details yet to be unfurled for the Honor Magic 3 including pricing and availability details. As we move closer to the August 12 event, we expect some official teasers and leaks for the device.
Tesla in recent times has come under pressure when accidents involving its electric vehicles occur. The Autopilot has most times been fingered as the proximate cause of several crashes. However, the recent story from Norway gives a more rounded perspective on the importance of this technological and safety feature in EVs.
A Tesla driver in Norway who decided to drive while under the influence of alcohol has been saved from a possibly fatal crash. The driver fell asleep while behind the wheels of his Model S EV, but the Autopilot which was operational at the time carefully navigated the vehicle to a halt.
The Autopilot provides a safety net while driving as it uses a slew of technologies to provide navigational guidance to the driver. The incident happened in Norway’s eastern district last weekend.
Some part of the incident is believed to have been filmed, as other motorists watched the 24-year old man sleeping on the wheels while the Model S was in motion. The car then successfully parked by the roadside while the man remained unconscious, as onlookers tried to wake him up from his sleep.
The local police later arrived at the scene and established that the driver was drunk. The name of the man has not been mentioned. The police also released a public statement on the incident. The man had denied he was driving the vehicle at the time he was picked.
The Autopilot is often misunderstood and misused by drivers of Tesla’s EVs leading to sometimes deadly crashes. It is a driver-assist system and not a self-driving one. When activated, it regularly sends signals to the driver to hold the steering wheel. When these signals are repeatedly ignored, the car will navigate to a stop in a safe position.

The $129 Magic Trackpad is wireless and rechargeable too and is packed with support for multi-port gestures and Force Touch technology. The trackpad is covered in glass and there are sensors underneath that detect the different pressures you apply.
Like the Magic Mouse, it is compatible with Bluetooth-enabled Macs running OS X 10.11 or later and iPad running iPadOS 13.4 or later.

A few days ago, a custom McDonald’s-themed PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller appeared on the web. It was reported that the Australian branch of the fast-food chain made a limited number of the controller to give away as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
It was later reported that Sony had prevented the controller from being released. McDonald’s Australia also announced that it had postponed its week-long event and revealed new prizes to be won which didn’t include the custom controller.
The latest update on the matter today via IGN is that McDonald’s said the controller was never meant to be released and that it was an internal concept. An official statement from McDonald’s Australia said “the image was provided to media in error and there is no commercial relationship between McDonald’s Australia and Sony PlayStation.”
This might come as a disappointment to fans of PlayStation who have been looking forward to winning the custom DualSense Controller. Sony, unlike its rival, Xbox, has a very limited selection of controller options.
The Xbox Wireless Controller is not only available in several colors and a wide variety of designs but there is also the Xbox Design Lab that allows users to customize their own controllers. The DualSense controller on the other hand can only be picked up in the default white that ships with the controller as well as Midnight Black and Cosmic Red that were announced in May.
Chinese smartwatch manufacturer and New York Stock Exchange-listed company Huami has officially unveiled its first children n health smartwatch in China. The product is dubbed Amazfit Happya Children’s Health Watch and is specifically designed for kids. The company has shared a few details of the product but the pricing and availability are yet to be disclosed.
Amazfit Happya Children’s Health Watch
Huami’s Founder and CEO Huang Wang released an essay on Weibo explaining why the company decided to launch a children’s smartwatch at this point. The CEO hinted that the firm first got the offer to design a children’s watch at the same period six years ago when it was working on its first smartwatch. However, the team rejected the offer, instead opting to release adult smartwatches. Moreso, children’s watches at that time were basically GPS devices with calling functions of which it thought Xiaotiancai and 360 were doing a good job already. Also, it doesn’t align with Huami’s goal of helping more people live healthier through human body data monitoring and analysis.
Presently, the industry is filled with several smartwatch models designed for children and the competition is stiffer than it was odd six years ago. Thus, the company felt this was a better time to join the train in order to grab a slice of the pie.
The watches are now fitted with games and several learning resources which the CEO opined may lead to eye defects and impair the child’s learning ability considering the small size. Thus, the brand’s focus will be on children’s health so as to help prevent shortsightedness and it will be 100% harmless to children.
Further, the Amazfit Happya Children’s Health Watch will come with built-in sports/fitness modes bringing on features such as rope skipping, sit-ups, running, in order to help the kids improve their sports ability. The watch also comes with 24-hour heart rate monitoring, child-specific sleep monitoring, and child-specific activity tracking that is more scientific than step counting.
Huami also disclosed that it is cooperating with the Huyan Research Institute of the First Hospital of Guangzhou Medical College and the team of renowned Academician Zhong Nanshan to actively promote the children’s asthma attack prevention. The research results are expected to be of great help to the future iteration of children’s watches.
In addition to the above innovative functions, the Amazfit Happya Children’s Health Watch will also retain the basic functions of children’s watches such as 4G full Netcom, AI multi-positioning, high-definition video calls, taking pictures, watch friends, XiaoAI voice support, Alipay piggy bank, etc. The watch comes with an IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating and features a food-grade silicone wristband.

The Xbox Wireless Controller comes in several colorways. There is even the Xbox Design Lab program for those who want their own custom controller. However, that isn’t stopping the manufacturer from announcing new colors. The latest is the Aqua Shift Special Edition which was announced today and it boasts features you won’t find on the others.
The Aqua Shift Special Edition has a color-shifting blue shimmer and depending on the angle you hold it, the controller will shift between different shades of blue and even purple.
The D-Pad and thumbstick have the same shade of dark blue that appears to be slightly different from that of the View, Menu, and Share buttons. The ABXY buttons also have a pretty nice blue-on-blue design.
The controller also features a unique color swirl on the rubberized side grips, a first for a special edition Xbox Series X|S controller. This color pattern is unique to each unit which means that no two Aqua Shift Special Edition controllers are the same.
The controller is priced at $69.99 and is already available for pre-order across the globe on Xbox.com and at local retailers.

The Honor V7 Pro is an upcoming flagship tablet from Honor. The tablet will be the first device to be powered by the new MediaTek Kompanio 1300T processor announced last week. Now, the manufacturer has released a new teaser that reveals new details.
The image above was posted earlier today on Weibo by the Honor Life account and it shows that the Honor V7 Pro tablet will have support for a stylus. The stylus has a cylindrical design and a black paint job. It actually looks like a black version of the Huawei M-Pencil 2.
The tablet itself is attached to a case. We believe it is a keyboard case even though the keys are not visible in the image. What is more interesting is that the case has a floating design just like that of the iPad Pro’s Magic Keyboard.
Both accessories should be announced alongside the tablet next week but will most likely be sold separately.
The Honor V7 Pro is shown to have a blue paint job and a flat frame design. There are two speaker grilles and a USB-C port on the visible side and we believe it also has two speaker grilles on the other side for a quad speaker setup. The tablet is expected to be available in Wi-Fi and 5G versions.
