The Galaxy Note20 launched yesterday alongside a bunch of other Samsung products. The phone was announced in three color options – Mystic Green, Mystic Black, and Mystic Bronze. However, a new leak has revealed that the phone comes in three more variants including pink.
Photos posted on Twitter by a user that goes by @TEQHNIKACROSS show the Galaxy Note20 in Blue, Red, and Pink. The images appear to have been taken in a Samsung store in South Korea.
It is not unusual for Samsung to have its flagships available in more colors than originally announced. However, some of these colorways are usually exclusive to certain markets and or carriers.
German leaker and tech blogger, Roland Quandt (@rquandt) also shared a tweet that includes images of the red Galaxy Note20. According to him, the color variant was teased by Korea Telecom. He also stated that the blue one is coming to SK Telecom, which is another South Korean carrier.
There is no info yet on if any of these colorways will be available in other countries. If you like these new color variants and don’t mind waiting, you may hold off pre-ordering the device.

The Galaxy Note20 is one of Samsung’s latest flagship phones. It has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a punch hole at the center. Depending on the market, the phone comes with an Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865 Plus processor. There is 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage without support for storage expansion.
On the back is a triple camera setup that includes a 12MP main sensor, a 64MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide angle camera. There is 3x hybrid optic zoom, 30x Super-Resolution Zoom, and support for 8K video recording. The front-facing camera is a 10MP sensor
The Galaxy Note20 has an IP68-rating, stereo speakers tuned by AKG, ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, and a 4500mAh battery with support for 25W fast wired charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
Once the Galaxy Unpacked event ended yesterday, Samsung also announced Android 11-based One UI 3 Developer Beta for the Galaxy S20 series. Currently, the program is limited to South Korean and US variants of the handset. As for the latter, only T-Mobile/Sprint and Unlocked versions are eligible.
Samsung has been long known for delivering the latest Android update to its devices later than most brands. But lately, the company has improved a lot since it brought One UI, a revamped Android skin replacing Samsung Experience, which replaced TouchWiz.
Last year, the South Korean tech giant started One UI 2.0 developer beta a month later Google released Android 10. But in 2020, the company has already opened registrations for One UI 3 based on Android 11, which is yet to be released by Google.
That means the current-gen Samsung flagships will receive up to Android 13 and the last-gen devices will receive up to Android 12. Though the software support is not as good as on iPhones, it is surely better than in previous years.

Canon has recently been hit with a ransomware attack. It has affected a number of its services, including Canon’s email, Microsoft Teams, company’s USA website, and other internal applications as well.
BleepingComputerhad reported on the incident after tracking an outage on Canon’s image.canon cloud photo and video storage service. This resulted in the loss of data worth 10TB for users that utilized the storage feature. The outage occurred on 30th July 2020 and lasted over six days. Meanwhile, the site would display status updates until it went back in service on 4th August 2020.
Furthermore, an internal source reached out to BleepingComputer, sharing an image of a company wide notification. This message was titled “Message from IT Service Center,” which was sent by Canon’s IT department. According to this message, Canon was experiencing a “wide spread system issues affecting multiple applications, Teams, Email, and other systems may not be available at this time.”
A number of Canon domains were also affected by the cyberattack, while an alleged ransom note had been discovered soon after. The attack was from the Maze ransomware, who stated that they stole, “10 terabytes of data, private databases, etc,” for their attack on Canon. Although, Maze also revealed that the image.canon outage was not caused by them. Maze has stolen unencrypted files from servers and backups and has harvested the network of anything of value and gain access to a Windows domain controller. They have also been responsible for other high profile attacks in the past as well, so we will have to wait and see how the situation develops further.
Apple is working on building a local supply ecosystem in China for iPhones sold strictly in that region. A new DigiTimes report stated that the company is looking to add more China based manufacturers for the local market.
One such manufacturer includes Luxshare, which has already set up manufacturing plants in China from Taiwan’s Wistron. Another Chinese firm is Lens Technology, who is sourcing metal chassis plants from Taiwan as well, to expand the iPhone’s presence. Furthermore, the Cupertino based giant is also continuing to add more Chinese suppliers to source its iPhones.
For those unaware, Luxshare is already a part of Apple’s supply chain for the popular AirPods. Although now, it has become a bigger partner in the smartphone maker’s product ecosystem. So far, Apple has mostly employed Taiwanese firms in this position that have dominated its supply chain, but this might shuffle up the sourcing structure in Asia. Notably, India has also become a site for iPhone 11 production, marking the first time Apple is producing a flagship device outside of China.

One of the faces showed the number of times the device is unlocked, along with the scale that maps the usage of the smartphone. It also displays other generic information like current time and date alongside app icons for notifications at the bottom. Multiple other faces had also been revealed, which makes this next update one of the most anticipated ones in recent times. Google unveiled the Pixel 4a smartphone this Monday and is expected to launch the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 in October. The two phones are scheduled to release in the market by fall. Apart from these two pones, the search engine giant is unlikely to launch any new Pixel smartphones this year. 9to5Googlethat has accessed an internal Android document has revealed the names of some of the Pixel devices arriving next year.
The internal document lists the Android builds for existing Pixel phones right from the Pixel 2 that wen official back in 2017. The document also has information on unreleased Pixel devices. It has revealed that the search engine giant is now working on Android builds for three devices such as Pixel 5a, a foldable Pixel phone, and two first-party devices.
While the Pixel 5a is codenamed as “Barbette,” the codenames of the other three devices are “Raven,” “Oriole,” and “Passport.” The document further mentions that these names may differ from their codenames that will appear in AOSP. As it is known, Google Pixel devices are codenamed after different fishes.
Official teaser shows Pixel 5 on left and Pixel 4a (5G) on right
The publication has speculated that the “Raven” and “Oriole” devices could be Pixel 6 series handsets and the “Passport” device could be the first Pixel-branded foldable smartphone. The “Q4 2021” label for these devices suggests that they are slated to go official in the last quarter of 2021.
As far as the Pixel 5a is concerned, its moniker is explicitly mentioned in the document and it is likely to debut in “Q2 2021.” The name was also previously spotted in AOSP earlier this month. The device is described as a “lower end mid year device” which indicates that it will be succeeding the Pixel 4a.
The publication stated that the main purpose of this document is for Android development. It does not reflect the exact plans of the hardware team of the company as it contains some codenames such as the canceled Pixel 2 XL codenamed as “Muskie.” Hence, there is a possibility that not all the unreleased devices mentioned in the list could reach the production stage
Softbank has reportedly approached both TSMC and Foxconn for a potential acquisition of Arm. The group has been planning on selling the known chip designed, with numerous big names in the industry being possible candidates.
According to a Nikkei Asian Review report, Softbank has reached out to the world’s largest contract chipmaker and known Apple supplier. It had bought Arm for $32 billion four years ago and has been public about a partial or complete public offering of the firm. And now, sources close to the matter have revealed that TSMC and Foxconn were given a selection of financial data and projection directly from Arm.
Notably, this is the same information that Nvidia had received previously. Similarly, Qualcomm and Apple had also been in the pool of potential buyers. While TSMC and Foxconn are reportedly looking into an investment, Nvidia is said to be considering a more serious approach with a complete buyout rather than just a stake. Although, whether that actually goes through remains to be seen.

While bloatware is a common occurrence in many custom skins of Android, OnePlus had always refrained from cluttering the user experience from the get go. The company was highly praised for its clean UI and lack of a dozen unwanted pre-installed apps that cannot be removed. However, this might all be changing as the Chinese smartphone maker is shipping smartphones with Facebook pre-installed, which can’t be removed.
The OnePlus 8 series was the first lineup from the company to arrive with Facebook pre-installed. However, this more or less went under the radar for the most part. Although, Max Weinbach’s recent tweet seems to give a spotlight on the frustration people might face regarding this. Furthermore, Android Police reached out to OnePlus, who confirmed that it had struck a deal to add Facebook App installer, Facebook Services, and Facebook App Manager as a part of its system apps.
While this doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t uninstall apps like Facebook, Messenger, or Instagram, the underlying services and App installers will remain in the system and can only be disabled and not removed. The company plans on continuing this for the foreseeable future as well in regions like North America, India, and Europe. So what are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments down below.
Just hours after Samsung launched the company’s next-generation Galaxy Note series flagship smartphones — Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra, the pricing details of both the devices for the Chinese market have been revealed.
The South Korean giant has announced Samsung Forerunner Program in China in which those pre-order the smartphone through the company’s online store can get priority delivery from 15th August. This means that the users won’t have to wait for the first-day sale on 28th August to get their hands on the device.
As for the pricing in the Chinese market, the Galaxy Note20, which packs 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, costs 7,699 yuan which roughly converts to $1,108. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note20 Ultra with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at 9,599 yuan which is around $1,382. The top-end variant with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage costs 10,399 yuan, about $1,497.
Coming to the specifications, the Galaxy Note20 features a 6.7-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display while the Ultra variant comes with a 6.9-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Both the phones come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Under the hood, the devices come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, with support for 5G SA/NSA. In the camera department, both the smartphones feature a 10MP front snapper for taking selfies and video calling.
The standard model features a 12-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens with Space Zoom of up to 30x. The Ultra model, on the other hand, comes with a 108-megapixel main shooter, a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 50x Space Zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.
Both the models run the Android 10 operating system out-of-the-box with Samsung One UI 2.0 on top. The Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra are powered by a 4,300mAh and 4,500mAh battery respectively with 25W fast charging support.
Although Samsung was expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 2 as well in its Unpacked 2020 event, the company refrained from providing any pricing or availability details. However, new leaks have revealed a few interesting features that the device may arrive with.
Something Samsung didn't mention about Fold2: it had an anti erosion waterproof coating on the main internal components. Doesn't make it waterproof, but should help it survive a dunk.
According to Max Weinbach on Twitter, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has an ‘anti-erosion waterproof coating.’ This means that Samsung’s successor to the Galaxy Fold does not feature water proofing rating or IP rating of any kind, but its main internal components can survive an accidental drop in the water. Unfortunately, it is still an unconfirmed report and we will have to wait for Samsung to announce more details regarding the device to know for sure.
The South Korean tech giant has made numerous improvements in the second generation of the foldable series, with a new under-metal cushion and a thicker protective layer. So, it does seem likely that it would try to add some form of protection or water resistance to premium grade flagship handset. We’ll provide more information when additional updates are available, so stay tuned.
Last year, Li Nan, China-based smartphone maker Meizu’s co-founder and Vice President, resigned from the company. At that time, he had said that he would focus on the consumer market and developing new brands.
Today, he has announced the launch of its new company — Numiao Technology aka Angry Miao Technology. The company has also confirmed that it will hold a press conference later this month.
The online press conference, which is scheduled to take place on 26th August, could see the first batch of devices getting launched by the company. However, we are not yet sure what the devices are.
Not just devices, it is not yet known what the focus of the company will be. It is unlikely that the company will be launching smartphones as it could violate non-compete contracts given that Li Nan was a Vice President at Meizu just a year back.
As per the reports coming from the Chinese media, the company has received millions of dollars in investment from Meituan Dragon Ball Capital. However, this has not been confirmed by the company. It is also being reported that the focus of this new brand by Li Nan will be towards the younger audience.
Li Nan had co-founded Meizu along with Bai Yongxiang who is the CEO and Huang Zhang (Jack Wong). The company started as an MP3 player manufacturer before switching to making smartphones in 2008. Its portfolio is quite diverse now but phones remain the company’s major source of revenue.
Samsung has recently launched the company’s next-generation Galaxy Note series flagship smartphones — Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra. However, it seems that the South Korean giant isn’t expecting as much demand as its predecessor for the new devices.
As per the report coming from The Elec, Samsung has ordered about 20 percent fewer components for the Galaxy Note20 series. However, if that’s actually the case, then it is likely for the initial batch only and if the company sees a surge in demand, it can procure more components.
The report claims that Samsung is expecting initial shipments of three million units for the latest Note-series flagship smartphones. Further, it adds that the total expected shipments for the lineup stand at around 10 million units by the end of this year.
The move of ordering 20 percent fewer components for the Galaxy Note20 series could be because of the less than anticipated demand for the Galaxy S20 series smartphones launched earlier this year.
Also, the company’s sale of smartphones has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and since major markets still haven’t recovered, the company is likely keeping the stock volume low for the initial batches.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra was the best-selling model in the lineup and the company also expects a similar situation with the newly launched series. It expects Galaxy Note20 Ultra to account for 70 percent to 80 percent sales among the two models.
The Samsung Galaxy Note20 comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, for a price of $999.99. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is priced at $1,299.99 for the 12GB + 256GB variant and $1,499.99 for the 12GB + 512GB version. Both models will go on sale from August 21st.
Last year, Xiaomi had launched Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 with an impressive set of specifications. Now, the company has announced a discount of 1,000 yuan on one of the variants of the laptop.
The company has announced that the Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 with Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD, GTX 166Ti graphics will be offered at a discount of 1,000 yuan (~144). This brings down the cost to 7,999 yuan, which is roughly $1,152.
However, at the time of writing this article, the product is shown as “Sold Out” on JD.com. We are not sure if the same discounted pricing will be applied when the device gets restocked on the e-commerce platform.
The Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 looks similar to the predecessor model and comes with the same number of ports and vents, a 15.6-inch display with the same bezel size, and the exact keyboard layout.
The 15.6-inch display offers 81 percent screen-to-body ratio and 72% color gamut as well as a 144Hz refresh rate for much smoother gameplay. It comes with support for dual-band WI-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 2 x 3W speakers, Dolby Audio, and a 1MP HD webcam.

It comes with a 4-color LED-backlit keyboard with 3 different modes, a glass touchpad with multiple gesture control, and ships with Microsoft‘s Windows 10 Home pre-installed.
The Mi Gaming Laptop 2019 has a 55Whr battery that is claimed to provide up to 4.5 hours of video playback, 4 hours of video streaming, and 4.5 hours of web browsing.

A new Realme phone with model number RMX2189 has received approval from Thailand’s NBTC, Indonesia’s TKDN and SDPPI, and China’s CQC. The NBTC certification has revealed that the name of the device is Realme C12. The moniker suggests that it could be a lower version of the recently unveiled Realme C15 phone. It is likely to be slotted between the Realme C11 and C15 phones.
The CQC certification of the Realme C12 has revealed that the phone is backed by a 6,000mAh battery. It also reveals that the phone supports only 10W charging. Probably, this could be one of the features that will differentiate it from the Realme C15.
