Samsung Galaxy Fold goes official in India for ₹164,999 ($2,323)

Samsung launched its first foldable smartphone — Galaxy Fold earlier this month after delaying it a few times since its debut earlier this year. Now, the Samsung Galaxy Fold has been officially launched in the Indian market.

With this, the Galaxy Fold has become the first foldable smartphone in India. It is priced at ₹164,999 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model, which roughly converts to $2,323.

The smartphone comes in Cosmos Black color and the company is also offering Galaxy Fold Premier Service with one-on-one assistance with a Fold Concierge and one-year accidental damage protection, and one-time free screen replacement.

Moreover, the company is also bundling the Samsung Galaxy Buds headphones. Samsung will start taking pre-booking for the Galaxy Fold smartphones in India from 4th October and the shipments for the same will begin from 20th October.

Coming to the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Fold smartphone presents a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Display with a 1536 x 2152 pixels screen resolution. In this mode, you can use three apps at the same time which Samsung calls Three-app Multitasking.

When the device is folded into phone mode, it offers a 4.6-inch display with 840 x 1960 pixels screen resolution. It comes with a feature called App Continuity which automatically adjust an app when you switch screens. It is powered by a 7nm octa-core processor paired with 12GB of RAM and packs 512GB of internal storage using UFS 3.0 technology.

Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port. It comes with stereo speakers that are equipped with Dolby Atmos surround sound technology.

The phone comes with a camera module that’s made up of a 16MP ultra-wide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera, and another 12MP wide-angle camera. On the front side, it comes with a 10MP sensor. It runs Samsung One UI with Android 9 Pie operating system out-of-the-box and is powered by a 4,380mAh battery which is split into two units. It also supports Wireless Charging as well as Wireless PowerShare for reverse charging.

OPPO A11 may debut soon in China; Specs, price and release date appear

Last month, OPPO had launched OPPO A11x smartphone. It had arrived as the rebranded edition of the OPPO A9 (2020) smartphone that debuted in the same month in India. A fresh listing of OPPO A11 has surfaced on China Telecom database. The handset is expected to hit the Chinese market on Oct. 15.

In September, an OPPO phone with PCHM10 model number had appeared on TENAA. It was previously though to arrive as the Chinese version of the OPPO A5 (2020). However, the newly spotted China Telecom listing of PCHM10 reveals that it will be coming to China as OPPO A11.

The China Telecom listing reveals that the OPPO A11 smartphone has a 6.5-inch display with waterdrop notch which delivers HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. The handset measures 163.5 x 75.6 x 8.1mm and weighs 195 grams.

The Snapdragon 665 mobile platforms power the phone along with 4 GB of RAM. It has a native storage of 128 GB and carries support for microSD slot. The Android 9 Pie OS overlaid with ColorOS skin runs on the device.

The OPPO A11 resembles with OPPO A11x in terms of design and specs. The only major difference is that the A11x has 8 GB of RAM and the upcoming A11 has 4 GB of RAM.

On Oct. 10, OPPO will be announcing the OPPO Reno Ace and OPPO K5 in China. Rumors have claimed that the company may announce OPPO Reno2 F on the same day for the home market.

Foldable Moto Razr will launch before the end of 2019 claims fresh report

Soon after Samsung and Huawei unveiled their first foldable smartphones, reports started surfacing that Motorola will soon follow suit. To further strengthen this claim, the alleged box images of foldable Moto Razr also made rounds on the internet. While the device was originally reported to launch in the Q2 of 2019, clearly that did not turn into a reality.

Nonetheless, according to a fresh report published by Cnet, the foldable Moto Razr is well alive and it will hit the shelves before 2019 ends. Even though the actual reason behind its delay is unknown, we believe it could have been influenced by the woes faced by the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X.

While not many details about the upcoming foldable phone from Motorola are currently available, it is expected to have a clamshell design which was seen with the original Motorola Razr that debuted over a decade ago. It is most likely that the 2019 Moto Razr will not have a physical keypad, instead, it will incorporate a foldable touchscreen display.

Based upon the leaked renders which were previously mentioned, the foldable Moto Razr will have dual displays. Out of which, the main large screen display will be on the inside, while the second display will be a smaller panel located on the cover aka the flip.

Homogenous to other offerings from Motorola, the 2019 Moto Razr is destined to run the Android operating system which will be optimised to work efficiently on its unique form factor.

Noteworthy, based upon leaks and previously granted patents, Motorola does not intend to make a smartphone and tablet hybrid like the Galaxy Fold and Mate X. Instead, it seems to envision the foldable Razr as a highly compact device which could replace conventional smartphones that have gotten massive in size over the last couple of years.

To sum things up, the launch of the reincarnated Moto Razr seems to be nearing fast. However, we will have to wait patiently until the company releases an official statement.

Search engine giant Google is all set to launch its new Pixel 4 series smartphones and the company has already confirmed that the event will take place on 15th October. Now, anticipating the Pixel 4 series launch, Google has launched a new marketing campaign.

As a part of the new #SwitchtoPixel marketing campaign, the company has released four videos on the ‘Made by Google’ YouTube channel. Each video features customer testimonies of their experiences pertaining to select features of the Pixel series.

Google Pixel 4 series won’t get released before October 18

Google launched Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL smartphones in May earlier this year and both the smartphone were made available for purchase from the same day. However, that is not going to be the case with the company’s upcoming flagship phones.

While the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are set to get unveiled on 15th October, they won’t be available for purchase from the same day. The company itself is indirectly telling us that we must not expect to see any Pixel 4 phone on sale on October 15, and not in the following days, either.

Through the official Android Twitter account, the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 7T will be the first smartphone to run Android 10 and since the phone will be released on 18th October, its safe to assume that the Pixel 4 series phones won’t be available for purchase till 18th October.

Like most major flagship smartphone launch, Google is expected to start taking pre-orders for the phones soon after the it announces them at an event on 15th October, with a shipping date of 18th October or later. However, do note that this has not been directly confirmed by the Mountain View giant.

Also, this is in line with the company’s previous record of launching flagship Pixel smartphones. Apart from the Pixel 3a series, none of the smartphones in this lineup went on sale the same day they were announced, right from the original Pixel to the last year’s Pixel 3 lineup.

Motorola has been expanding its One series of smartphones. Recent reports have revealed that the Lenovo-owned firm may launch the One Macro smartphone in the near future. A listing of the unannounced Macro One was recently spotted on online retailer site from Saudi Arabia has. An image of the phone has appeared through the listing.

The Motorola One Macro phone’s listing on Extra.com has been taken down. The image of the phone resembles with its live photo that had appeared in the previous month. As it can be seen, the One Macro has a tall aspect ratio display with waterdrop notch. The right side of the smartphone has a volume rocker and a power button.

The left corner of the phone has a vertical camera system that includes three camera lenses, laser assisted autofocus and an LED flash. A fingerprint scanner embedded logo can be seen on the backside ft he smartphone.

Honor’s 64 MP camera smartphone certified by 3C; could launch with Honor V30

It is already known that Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is currently working on its flagship smartphone lineup — Honor V30 series, which is expected to launch pretty soon. Now, it has been revealed that the company is working on another mid-range smartphone.

The upcoming Honor smartphone with model number LRA-AL00 has been certified by 3C, hinting that its launch date is not far away. Further, the listing reveals that the smartphone will come featuring a 64-megapixel camera sensor. This will make it the first smartphone from Honor to feature a 64MP camera and now we have come across more details related to the camera.

A new report related to this upcoming smartphone reveals that the device will come equipped with 1G+6P lens from Lianchuang Electronics, which is designed for high-end devices. Interestingly, the maker of the camera lens has not revealed details about it, citing confidentiality agreement. Although it’s safe to assume that the 64MP camera sensor will be provided by Samsung given that its the only company to have a 64MP sensor in the market right now.

The listing also suggests that the device will come with support for 20W fast charging technology. As per the document, this upcoming Honor smartphone is being referred as “Laura” for the internal research and development.

The smartphone in question seems to be the one that we reported earlier to get launched along with the Honor V30, as a part of Honor Note series. However, there’s a possibility that its not a part of Honor Note series and could be all-new device.

Apart from the 64-megapixel camera sensor and 20W fast charing support, the phone is expected to come powered Huawei’s own 7nm Kirin 810 octa-core processor. It remains to be seen if the company continues without offering Google Play Services outside China as well, similar to what it did with the Mate 30 series.

Given that the company’s own HarmonyOS is not yet ready for smartphones, it’s more likely that the brand will continue with the same strategy it adopted for the Mate 30 series for the software department. Thus, while the smartphone will be powered by Android OS, it won’t be Google certified and so no official access to Google services and apps.

While the smartphone will be a mid-range offering, there’s no information available regarding its pricing or launch date. We expect to know more about the smartphone, including its specifications, in the coming days.

On Oct. 10, OPPO will be holding a launch event in China. The event will be used to announce the OPPO Reno Ace and OPPO K5 smartphones. The OPPO K5 for China has a model number of PCNM00. An international variant of the phone with model number CPH1976 has been approved by Thailand’s NBTC agency. This indicates that soon after its debut in China, the OPPO K5 could be soon arriving in Thailand and other markets.

The OPPO K5 has already appeared on TENAA with its entire specifications. Originally, only the 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage edition of the phone was mentioned in its TENAA listing. OPPO K5 Specifications and Features

The OPPO K5 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with dewdrop notch. Like the predecessor K-series phones from the company, the OPPO K5 also features an in-screen fingerprint reader. The smartphone has a 4,500mAh battery. It will be arriving as the first OPPO branded smartphone with VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge technology. The new rapid charging technology from the Chinese firm allows a phone with 4,000mAh battery to gain 67 percent battery from scratch in just 30 minutes. It can be completely charged in 73 minutes. As of this writing, there is no information available on the pricing of the OPPO K5 smartphone.

Vivo V1936A 3C certified; Could be arriving as iQOO Lite

Yesterday, a leakster from China had revealed that Vivo’s iQOO brand is gearing up to launch a Snapdragon 855 powered edition of the iQOO Neo smartphone that gone official in July. A new Vivo phone with model number V1936A is believed to be the rumored iQOO Neo sequel. It is speculated that it may arrive in the market as iQOO Lite.

The 3C listing of the Vivo V1936A reveals that its retail package may include a charger that support 33W fast charging. Rumors surrounding the iQOO Neo sequel have revealed that it will be arriving with 33W fast charging support. This suggests that the newly spotted V1936A could be the next iQOO smartphone. Hopefully, the Vivo V1936A may appear on TENAA’s database soon with its entire specifications.

Could be it called Vivo iQOO Lite?

The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform powered iQOO phone supports 44W rapid charging whereas the iQOO Neo that features the older Snapdragon 845 carries support for 22.5W charging. Since the iQOO Neo’s sequel is rumored to be equipped with Snapdragon 855 as well as 33W fast charging, it could be slotted between the iQOO and iQOO Neo in the market. Vivo had recently trademarked NEX Pro, NEX Neo, NEX Lite, Vivox Pro, Vivox Lite and iQOO Lite with EUIPO. iQOO is yet to launch a smartphone with iQOO Lite name. The moniker looks suitable for the newly Vivo V1936A. However, it is advisable to wait for further reports to know about its name.

So far, it is known that the alleged iQOO Lite will come equipped with an OLED screen with a waterdrop notch. Like the other iQOO phones, it is expected to come equipped with an in-display fingerprint reader. The handset may house a 4,500mAh battery.

The purported iQOO Lite smartphone is to arrive with an attractive price tag. The highest configuration model of the iQOO Lite that has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage costs 2,298 Yuan (~$321). On the other side, the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage base model of the Vivo iQOO phone carries a pricing of 2,698 Yuan (~$369). The rumored iQOO Lite could be priced around 2,398 Yuan (~$335). Since it is just assumption, it is advisable for some reliable information to appear to know about its pricing.

Meizu 16T Launch invite reveals an October 23 launch date

The Meizu 16T has been in and out of the news all year long but it seems the device is finally set to go official. A leaked invitation has appeared which points to the launch of the Meizu 16T in China and October 23.

The launch event will be held in Beijing and promises “big screen entertainment”, obviously referring to the immersive screen ratio. The Meizu 16T was earlier spotted by AnTuTu on its database, revealing some key specifications.

The 16T is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset which is the same one on the Meizu 16s. The 16T is also shown to come with a 1080 x 2232 pixels resolution and a tall aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The upcoming flagship had also appeared on TENAA revealing it wil have a 6.5-inch OLED screen. This is bigger than the 6.2inch display found on the Meizu 16s Pro and Meizu 16s. The 16T comes in 6GB + 128GB variant as well as 8GB + 256GB.

Further, the Meizu 16T comes with a 4400mAh battery and will run on Android 9.0 Pie. The phone packs a 12MP+10MP+5MP triple camera sensor. At the front, there is a16MP selfie camera. We must note that the Meizu 16s boasts of a more powerful 48MP + 20MP + 16MP triple camera.

1Xiaomi Mi TV Pro

TVs are among the key sectors of Xiaomi’s business. The company recently unveiled the new flagship-class Mi TV Pro alongside the innovative Mi Mix Alpha, and it officially went on sale in China three days after. The Mi TV Pro debuted in three variants with 43 inches, 55 inches, and 65 inches screens: the 55-inch version went sold out in a short while after the launch. The Mi TV Pro is amazing because it supports 8K content reproduction, despite it has just a 4K LCD display. It comes with a great build quality as its rear panel is composed of an optimized aluminum alloy with a 3D carbon fiber texture. The TV is powered by the Amlogic T972 chipset running at frequencies up to 1.9 GHz and paired with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. It is bundled with a Bluetooth remote which supports voice input.

2XiaoAI Speaker

The XiaoAI Speaker and the XiaoAI Speaker Pro released on September 17 are not classic Bluetooth speakers. They are smart speakers just like Amazon’s Echo speakers and the Google Home lineup, but they support XiaoAI virtual assistant instead of Alexa or Google Assistant. They have a Hi-Fi audio processing chip and they support a 360-degree sound field as well as a professional DTS tuning. XiaoAI Speakers can be used to control up to 5000 smart home appliances with deep support to dedicated voice controls. Both the speakers were launched in China and they carry $38 and $42 price tags respectively.

3Xiaomi Hey Plus 1S

The Mi Band series is the main line-up of fitness smart bands by Xiaomi, but it is not the only one. Last year, the Hey Plus line-up anticipated the Mi Band series with a model sporting a similar design to the Mi Band 3. That is why we believe the newly-announced Hey Band 1S may sport a similar form factor to the upcoming Mi Band 5. The Hey Plus 1S has a new design adopting a rectangular shape for the display instead of an elliptical shape. The smart band has an integrated NFC module and a 0.95-inch AMOLED display with 24-bit true color and a pixel density of up to 282 ppi. It has a 50 ATM water resistance and a 120 mAh battery lasting up to 18 days. And it costs just $25.

4Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 3 50W

In September, Xiaomi launched one of the fastest power banks ever brought to the shelves. It is a variant of the known Mi Power Bank 3 with the support to 50W fast charging and a capacity of 20,000 mAh. It measures 153.5 x 73.5 x 27.5 mm and it rocks 2 USB-A ports and a USB-C port, as well as a USB-C charging port. It is still not on sale, but we know it will carry a price tag equivalent to about $42 at the actual change.

5Xiaomi heated goose down jacket 3.0

This is not a launched product but it was just crowdfunded on the Youpin crowdfunding platform in China. We are talking about a new heated goose down jacked with smart temperature control. The key feature is the fact that it can be powered by a classic power bank. According to Xiaomi, a 10,000 mAh power bank can deliver continuous heating of the jacket for up to 7 hours. That is a lot for a heated down jacket, enough to withstand a very cold working day. The jacket uses 90% high-quality white goose down, a smart three-speed temperature control design and a waterproof fabric texture thanks to which you do not have to worry about rain. 6Xiaomi Mi Pocket Photo Printer

The Mi Pocket Photo Printer went on crowdfunding a few weeks ago with a price of 299 Yuan and it will start shipping on October 2. It is one of the smallest photo printers ever and, just like its name suggests, it fits even in a pocket. It has an ABS/PC chassis and it uses ZINK inkless printing technology. It is even equipped with the support of AR photos and music. There are several print formats available in the companion app.

7Xiaomi 30W wireless charger

Besides the 50W wired power bank mentioned above, Xiaomi also announced an incredibly fast wireless charger on September 2019. Xiaomi claims its heat dissipation technology works very well and its ergonomic tilt design resembles a kickstand. Alongside the Mi Mix Alpha and the Mi 9 Pro 5G, Xiaomi launched the new Mi AirDots Pro 2. In case you still did not get it after reading their name: they are valid and affordable alternatives to the AirPods. These wireless earbuds support the Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and LDHC Hi-Res audio codec, as well as smart voice controls and dual microphones for environmental noise cancellation. Realme X2 Pro officially teased to come with a 90 Hz display

Realme‘s Chief Marketing Officer teased a new phone earlier today which bears the moniker Realme X2 Pro. The device is shown to be a flagship model that would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. Another Realme official, this time the Chief Product Officer has also revealed an important detail of the model and this time around, it is the fact that the device will come with a 90 Hz screen refresh rate which can be toggled between 60 Hz and 90 Hz.

The OnePlus 7T was recently launched and one of the standout features is a 90Hz display refresh rate. The Realme exec had earlier teased this feature and also disclosed that the device will be cheaper than the OnePlus 7T. Interestingly, OnePlus and Realme are owned by BBK Electronics and OnePlus is known for its cheap flagship models.

The full specification of the Realme X2 Pro is not known but a recent Bluetooth SIG certification for an unknown Realme RMX1931, believed to be the X2 Pro, points to a 6.55-inch full HD display with support for Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity. The device will also run on ColorOS 6.0. It is also expected to retain the 64MP main camera and 32MP selfie shooter onboard the Realme X2.

The smartphone is also expected to release in India since it had recently received approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

Hyundai is developing Flying Cars with an ex-NASA aeronautics engineer as head

Flying cars are probably our future of transportation, and Hyundai is keen to grab a piece of this market. Hyundai Motor Group has just launched a new Urban Air Mobility Division that is concerned with the development of commercial flying car technology. The company’s interest in this field isn’t surprising given that the urban air mobility sector is expected to grow into a $1.5 trillion USD market in the next 20 years.

Hyundai’s air mobility division will be headed by Dr. Jaiwon Shin, an experienced aeronautics engineer who used to lead NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate. He has overseen projects that include a supersonic X-plane, UAS traffic management, and Urban Air Mobility. Under Dr. Shin’s leadership, Hyundai wants to establish itself ‘as a driving force in urban air mobility’.

The Urban Air Mobility division will be involved in coming up with innovative and smart solutions to ever-increasing traffic problems across the globe. Flying cars could be one of these solutions.

Flying cars has been a concept that has long piqued the interest of companies such as Uber and Volocopter. With Hyundai jumping into this emerging industry, it remains to be seen whether we’ll be able to see a commercial flying taxi or car anytime in the next 10 years.
