Earlier today, Li Xiaoshuang, General Manager of Xiaomi’s TV segment shared a note about the upcoming Redmi TV on Weibo. He mentioned “Xiaomi TV has a strong team, and has outstanding performance in terms of image quality, sound effects, and systems. It will take time to reach the level of Xiaomi TV”. He also added, “I found that the friends are quite powerful and should pay attention to it.”
Before this, the Redmi TV had already appeared with the product code “L70M5” on China’s National Quality Certification Center listing. The product certification was issued on July 19th under the name TPV Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. On top of this, the TV also acquired 3C certification not too long ago.
Meanwhile, it is rumored that Redmi TV will be available in two sizes – 40 inches and 70 inches models and both TVs will be equipped with 4K UHD resolution. It will directly compete with Huawei’s Honor Smart TV and OnePlus Smart TV. We expect Redmi TV will be announced in the month of September or early this year.
OPPO launched its brand new OPPO Reno series earlier this year and the lineup has turned out to be quite popular among customers, especially in China. The company is now planning to take advantage of its popularity by introducing new models in the Reno series.
OPPO Reno vs Huawei P30 Pro
OPPO’s VP Brian Shen has been quite vocal about the brand’s upcoming products. He revealed earlier today that there would be at least two OPPO Reno branded products later this year. He also mentioned another product that’s likely not a part of the Reno series. Weibo users speculate that the new product could be OPPO’s new noise-canceling over the ear headphones. Or it could be a Pikachu themed Power Bank with support for SuperVOOC charging. We had seen a similar power bank last year, so it could be an update to the old model.
So OPPO is likely going to focus on adding more models in the Reno series in the remaining half of year. The Reno lineup already has four models, the OPPO Reno, OPPO Reno Z, OPPO Reno 10X Zoom, and the OPPO Reno 5G.

China-based smartphone maker Xiaomi is currently developing the next version of its custom Android user interface which will be called MIUI 11. Recently, the Product Manager and Design Director for MIUI had shared some features that we can expect from the upcoming MIUI 11.
Now, Xiaomi’s Product Director and Experience Chief for MIUI has hinted that the launch of the MIUI 11 isn’t far away. The company has said that the MIUI 11 is positioned as a “new unique OS” and along with new features, it will also address the advertisement issues.
Earlier, the company had announced that it will be optimizing and monitoring the advertisements on the MIUI platform. The company has already started reducing the number of advertising spots and will further reduce the spots in the coming months.
Xiaomi is also going to introduce an easy switch in the MIUI system tools to disable advertisements. So, in the next couple of months, Xiaomi aims to provide a lighter and fresher MIUI which is likely to happen with MIUI 11.
The upcoming user interface will introduce a brand new set of system icons that have been redesigned from the ground up. The new icons will also have a unified design. Another feature coming to MIUI is an ultimate power saving mode where all system functions are turned off except calls and messages.
In this mode, all colors will be turned off and the UI will switch to a monochrome mode to conserve power. Users will be able to customize this power-saving mode too in case they want a certain app to still function.
Further, the MIUI 11 will also automatically delete screenshots after they have been shared with others. The status bar will also be optimized and more apps will support the phone’s built-in dark mode.
A few months ago, at the launch event of Huawei P30 series smartphones, the company had also announced a partnership between Huawei and Gentle Monster, a Korea-based fashion brand.
Both the companies have been working on developing the first smart glasses for Huawei. The said AR/VR smart glasses are expected to be stylish and will look like normal sunglasses at first glance.
Now, new trademark applications filed by the company hints that the device has gone through the development process and is all set to get unveiled at IFA 2019.
A couple of days ago, on 14th August, Huawei Technologies filed two trademarks application to the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and at the UK IPO (Intellectual Property Office) for the names Huawei VR Glass and Huawei AR Glass.
Both the applications have been categorized as Class 9 with description mentioning smartglasses, smartwatches, smartphones, 3D spectacles, and eyeglasses. The applications for the same were submitted by Forresters from Munich, Germany.
This is the same company that filed applications earlier this month for the names Huawei SuperSensing Camera and Cine Lens, both are probably meant for the Huawei Mate 30 series phones, which are expected to get launched around October.
Earlier this year, the company had shared details of its developing AR glasses, which would be the first to come with a built-in Voice Assistant. Thanks to a built-in microphone and speakers, it is also possible to to make telephone calls via the smart glasses. The glasses are IP67 certified, making it water and dust resistant.
In addition, it’s also possible to charge them through Wireless charging as well as through the included leather case with USB Type-C connection. The Huawei smart glasses will come powered by a big 2,200mAh battery.
While the company didn’t reveal the launch date of its smart glasses, there were reports about them getting launched in July 2019. Since they are not official yet, it’s possible that the company could launch them at the upcoming IFA 2019, which kcks-off on 6th September in Berlin, Germany.
Huawei is expected to unleash the Mate 30 series of flagship phones in the latter half of the September month. Couple of leaked shots of the front panel of the purported Huawei Mate 30 Pro and the actual device have appeared in the recent past to reveal its display design. Two new photos of the same phone seem to have appeared today to reveal its front and rear design.
Just like the real image of the Mate 30 that had appeared in the previous week, the new image shows the handset enclosed in a case to conceal its identity. Hence, it is not clear whether the phone shown in the images belong to the Huawei Mate 30 or Mate 30 Pro.
A closer look at the display of the phone shows its pronounced curvature towards its edges. A recent leak had revealed that the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will both arrive with dual-edge curved displays. However, the Mate 30 Pro will have a curvier screen than the Mate 30. Probably, the handset shown in the new images could be the Mate 30 Pro. A closer look at the top portion of the screen reveals the presence of a wide notch that could be housing all kinds of sensors for 3D face unlock, front camera and so on.
Shown below is the first real shot of the rear side of the purported Mate 30 Pro’s back panel. The rear cameras are completely hidden by the case, but a long LED strip along some other sensors seems to be present alongside it. It matches with the below shown case renders of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.
The recently spotted Mate 30 Pro case renders had revealed that the phone will come equipped with a round-shaped camera module with three lenses and a square-shaped LED flash inside it. However, the long strip does not seem to appear like LED flash. It also suggested that the phone will continue to sport an in-screen fingerprint reader.

In terms of specs, the rumor mill has so far revealed that the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will be housing a 6.71-inch display with quad HD+ resolution support. The 7nm Kirin 990 chipset that is slated to go official at IFA 2019 tech trade show next month could be fueling the smartphone with up to 12 GB of RAM. The handset could be equipped with a 4,200mAh battery that supports 55W fast charging and fast wireless charging. For photography, the phone could be featuring a pair of 40-megapixel sensors on its rear. Huawei is expected to unleash the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro on Sept. 19. Hopefully, the company may also unveil the massive Mate 30 X as the successor of Mate 20 X. As of this writing, there is no proof on its existence.

The handset could be either be featuring a side-mounted fingerprint sensor or an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The attached image shows the Huawei Nova 5T has a punch-hole display. The hole is located in the top left corner of the screen. We can make out an indentation on the side similar to that of the Honor 20. This indentation is for the side-mounted fingerprint scanner which also doubles as the volume rocker. Above it sits the volume rocker.
The Android Enterprise listing says it has a 5.5-inch display which we believe is an error as the Honor 20 has a 6.26-inch IPS LCD display. RAM is listed as 8GB and there are two storage variants – 128GB and 256GB.
The listing also says it has NFC and runs Android 9 Pie out of the box.
There is no info yet regarding when the Nova 5T will be announced but it should launch soon seeing as it has been certified by the NBTC.
The Nova 5T will be powered by the Kirin 980, have quad rear cameras (48MP + 16MP + 2MP + 2MP), a 32MP selfie camera, a 3.5mm audio jack, a 3750mAh battery, and support for 22.5W fast charging.
Xiaomi is India’s biggest smartphone maker right now and one of the top 5 smartphone companies in terms of shipments globally. But where did it all start? How did it all begin? Did it start when the company was established back in 2010?
Actually, when Xiaomi was established back in 2010, the company didn’t immediately release its first smartphone. It waited for nearly a year to release the Xiaomi Mi 1, the company first-ever smartphone based on Android. It will be the eighth anniversary of the Xiaomi Mi 1 on August 16, 2019, so we thought this is a really good time to revisit the phone and see what it offered.
The Xiaomi Mi 1 or simply called as the Xiaomi Phone was announced in August 2011 and went on pre-order on August 29. However, the sales began only by October of 2011, which meant there was quite a significant amount of waiting time.
The phone featured a basic design made out of plastic. It isn’t surprising given that it was the first-ever smartphone manufactured by a company which had zero experience in this industry. The front had very thick bezels, which was common among other smartphones as well. The back came with a protruding camera inside a rectangular housing. There was the MI logo etched at the back. The power button was on top along with the headphone jack while the volume buttons were on the right. It was a simple design but back then phones didn’t look as premium as they do today.
The main attraction of the Xiaomi Mi1 or the Xiaomi Phone was the 1.5GHz Snapdragon S3 processor, making it the first Chinese phone to feature such a powerful chipset inside. For memory, the Mi 1 came with just 1GB RAM and 4GB of ROM. There was a small 4-inch display upfront. The battery was pretty decent for its time, a 1930mAh capacity one. The phone shipped with MIUI which Xiaomi had announced a year back.
MIUI was also another highlight of the Xiaomi Mi 1 mainly because it offered great customization options to its users. There were a lot of features that you could tweak to personize your smartphone and it’s no surprise that the OS has got over 300 million activated users globally. In fact, do check out the video at the end of this article. It explains the features of the early MIUI OS and it’s really fun to see how things have evolved over the course of time.
The Xiaomi Mi 1 was surprisingly popular right from the start. The main reason could have been its competitive 1999 Yuan (~$284 right now) price tag. In fact, despite being a first-generation smartphone, it received over 300,000 pre-orders in the first 34 hours!
So the Xiaomi Mi 1 is where it all began. The Mi series is still very much alive with the latest model being the Xiaomi Mi 9 launched earlier this year. We also have the Redmi brand now with extensions to the original lineup like the Mi Mix series, Mi A series and even a Mi Max series.

The Galaxy A series got revamped this year. It now covers a wider range of prices and is no longer a line of upper mid-range phones. This decision contributed to Samsung‘s growth in markets like India where it was already losing to Chinese players like Xiaomi.
The source of the leak is Sudhanshu Ambhore @Sudhanshu1414. He had previously teased that he had info about eight new devices scheduled for launch next year before tweeting the details today.
The phones are the Galaxy A21, Galaxy A31, Galaxy A41, Galaxy A51, Galaxy A61, Galaxy A71, Galaxy A81, and Galaxy A91.
Galaxy A20
Galaxy A21
The Galaxy A21 will come with triple rear cameras, one more sensor than its predecessor, the Galaxy A20. The primary camera is a 13MP sensor that is paired with an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 5MP depth sensor.
Galaxy A31
The Galaxy A30 also has dual rear cameras but its successor, the Galaxy A31 will have three. It will keep the 16MP primary sensor, upgrades the 5MP ultrawide camera to 8MP and adds a 5MP depth sensor.
Galaxy A41
The Galaxy A40 which also has a 16MP + 5MP dual camera combo will get a triple camera setup for its successor. The Galaxy A41 will have a 24MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP depth sensor.
Galaxy A51
Samsung will switch to quad rear cameras for the Galaxy A51. The main camera will be a 32MP sensor paired with a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom and a 5MP depth sensor.
Galaxy A61
The Galaxy A60’s successor will also get the quad-rear camera treatment. There is a 48MP main camera on the Galaxy A61. It will also have an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom like the Galaxy A51, and also a 5MP depth sensor.
Galaxy A71
The Galaxy A71 will also get a 48MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide sensor, another 12MP sensor but telephoto with 2x optical zoom, and then a ToF sensor.
Galaxy A81
The Galaxy A81 is Samsung’s most powerful A series phone at the moment but it will soon be dethroned by the upcoming Galaxy A90. The Galaxy A81 will have quad rear cameras and we doubt it will adopt the slide+rotate design of the Galaxy A80’s triple rear cameras.
The main camera of the Galaxy A81 is a 64MP sensor and it will be paired with a 16MP ultrawide angle camera, a 12MP telephoto camera with optical zoom (source not sure if it is 2x or 5x) and a Time of Flight sensor.
Galaxy A91
Last but definitely not least is the Galaxy A91, a successor to the yet-to-be-announced Galaxy A90. This will make use of Samsung’s 108MP sensor, most probably the one which was announced recently. It will add a 16MP ultrawide camera, a 12MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a ToF camera.
Samsung’s Galaxy A series lineup for next year will be packing some serious camera specs which should make the competition worried. However, the authenticity of the above info is still unconfirmed. The Galaxy A20 launched in April which means a successor is still about eight months away. Even if the above specs are true, as of the time of writing, Samsung may decide to change some features.
