Apple has its own maps app which is referred to as Maps. Microsoft also has its own which is called Bing Maps. However, Google Maps seems to be the most popular of all as it is available on more devices than the others. Now, Huawei Technologies Co. has announced that it will launch its own mapping service, called Map Kit, in October.
It is no surprise that Huawei wants to create its own mapping service seeing as the US ban means it can’t load Google services which includes Google Maps on its smartphones.
Map Kit won’t be available directly for consumer use according to the source. Instead, it is designed for developers to build applications that take advantage of its mapping capabilities.
The service will be developed in partnership with Russia’s Yandex and US travel website, Booking Holdings. It will be connected to local mapping services, be available in 40 languages, and will have coverage in 150 countries and regions. Huawei will be able to leverage on its telecom base stations across several countries to complement satellite positioning for its mapping service.
Map Kit will provide real-time traffic conditions, a highly advanced navigation system that can recognize when a car switches between lanes, and also have support for AR mapping said Zhang Pigan, the president of cloud services at Huawei Consumer Business Group.
Huawei mentioned Map Kit back at its developer conference last week. It is one of its planned Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). The others include Site Kit, Location Kit, Drive Kit, and Scan Kit e.t.c.
On Aug. 20, Realme will be holding an unveil event to announce the Realme 5 series. Rumors surrounding the Realme 5 smartphone have claimed that it could be fueled by the Snapdragon 665 that was first seen on the China-exclusive Xiaomi Mi CC9e smartphone. Thailand’s NBTC certification body has certified the Realme 5 smartphone. The listing only confirms that the Realme 5 has a model number of RMX1911. At the same time, a Geekbench listing of the Realme RMX1911 has appeared to reveal that the smartphone is indeed fueled by Snapdragon 665 mobile platform.
The RMX1911 Geekbench listing reveals that the smartphone is powered by a processor that is mentioned as ‘trinket.’ Before the unveiling of the Snapdragon 665 powered Xiaomi Mi CC9e, the handset was spotted with the same trinket named processor. The Xiaomi Mi A3 is an Android One version of the Mi CC9e for international markets. It is also powered by Snapdragon 665. The multiple listings of Mi A3 on Geekbench also has trinket name for its processor.
The Realme 5 Geekbench listing further reports that its Snapdragon 665 is assisted by 4 GB of RAM and it is loaded with Android 9 Pie OS. In the single-core test of Geekbench, the Realme 5 has scored 1525. It has recorded a score of 5498 in its multi-core test.

The Realme 5 Pro is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 712 mobile platform. Also, the company has confirmed that it will be featuring the 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 as the main lens in its quad camera setup. In related news, Realme is likely to unleash the Realme X Pro with 64-megapixel quad camera setup in October.

An update on the state of the new operating system says Realme may announce its new OS by the end of this year.
Details about the features the OS will have are scant but unconfirmed reports say it will be based on Android Q. The CEO of Realme, Madhav Sheth also said in an interview a few months ago that the OS will be designed to provide performance and long-term support similar to stock Android, however, it will have unique and useful features of its own.
However, we do not know if RealmeOS will be available for the current Realme lineup when it is announced or it will be limited to the more recent models.
Even with ColorOS, Realme has added features you won’t find on OPPO phones running ColorOS. The Realme 3 Pro received an update last month that brought App Market, Realme’s own app store. It also included Game Center which is a store for mobile games.

Earlier this week, its full specifications had appeared on TENAA. However, the TENAA listing of the phone did not carry any images. The Vivo V1916A TENAA listing has now been updated with images. The Vivo V1916A specifications that have leaked on TENAA have revealed that the smartphone will be equipped with a 6.41-inch AMOLED display with waterdrop. It will support full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It seems to be the same display that is present on the Vivo iQOO smartphone.

A recent leak had claimed that the 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage version of the iQOO Pro 5G will be costing 4,498 Yuan (~$638). Since there is no concrete evidence to back it, it is advisable to digest the pricing leak with a pinch of salt.

South Korea is one of the world’s first country to start offering commercial 5G services. Thanks to the strong demand for the latest gadgets and aggressive promotion strategy, the number of 5G subscribers are growing in the country.
A couple of months ago, in June this year, it was reported that South Korea was set to have more than one million 5G mobile subscribers. Now, surpassing industry expectation, South Korea hit the mark of over 2 million 5G subscribers last week.
Reports indicate that South Korea now has around 2.01 million 5G users in the country from three major telecom operations. Among them, SK Telecom has 840,000 5G subscribers, accounting for more than 40 percent of market share. KT and LG Uplus have 630,000 and 540,000 subscribers respectively.
Although South Korea now has more than 2 million 5G subscribers, it’s still less than 5 percent of the over mobile communication users in the country. However, with the improvement of infrastructures such as 5G networks and base stations and the increase of 5G smartphones, the market is set to increase substantially.
As per the estimated, it could have 4-5 million users by the end of this year. The 5G technology is aiming to provide super-fast connection speeds, low latency and the ability to connect many more devices without the network being bogged down. However, there are still some issues over the coverage and the speed of this next-generation wireless communication system.
The minimum cost or the starting price of the 5G tariff in South Korea is 55,000 won, which roughly converts to 325 Yuan or $48 for the three network operations — SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+. For those who are unaware, South Korea was the first country in the world to launch full-fledged 5G commercial services on April 5, even before China.
Vivo has made its Vivo NEX smartphone series for experimental smartphones and so far has launched a couple of smartphones under this lineup and now the company is gearing to launch another smartphone — Vivo NEX 3.
Now, Li Xiang, product manager of Vivo NEX has shared an image online which showcases the front panel of the upcoming NEX-series smartphone. It is now confirmed that the company will be adopting the “Waterfall Screen” design for the first time.
In this design for the upcoming NEX smartphone, the company will be using a display that is curved on the left and the right side. This will allow the company to offer a bezel-less design and the company had previously touted about the 100 percent screen-to-body ratio, which could be hinting at this design.
There’s also a possibility that the Chinese company will opt for an in-display camera sensor technology to ensure 100 percent screen-to-body ratio. Recently, it was reported that Vivo has solved the “Window Effect” issue faced by the under-display camera sensor. So, it is possible that we could see this technology being used in Vivo NEX 3.
Currently, there’s nothing much known about this upcoming smartphone. As per the reports, the upcoming Vivo NEX series smartphone could get launched in China next month. Notably, there’s no confirmation about the launch date from the company so far but we expect to know more about this phone in the coming weeks.
Snap has launched its third-generation of its augmented reality sunglasses, named Spectacles 3. The redesigned AR glasses now come with a sleek new design and dual HD cameras that create depth perception.
The Snap Spectacles 3, priced a $380, will go on sale on Spectacles.com from November 2019. The glasses, which are claimed by the company to be a limited release, are twice as expensive as its predecessor which costs $150.
The Spectacles 3 comes with a new design having circular lenses in a squared-off frame. They come in two color options — Carbon and Mineral. The frame is made out of steel and as before the glasses are tinted, making them impractical after sunset.
This newly introduced glasses can capture images in a resolution of 1642 x 1642 and videos in a resolution of 1216 x 1216. As before, the content can be viewed within the Snapchat app in either portrait or landscape and the perspective remains the same regardless of how you hold the phone.
It comes with a 4GB onboard storage that can hold around 100 videos or 1200 photos. However, you have to transfer the files manually over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi as there’s still no automatic transfer. This seems like a missed opportunity to improve the user experience when the company is charging more than twice compared to its predecessor.
The battery lets you record up to 70 videos or capture over 200 photos on a single charge and takes 75 minutes to recharge. The glasses charge within their carrying case, which has a USB-C charging connector.
The major highlight of this new glasses is the presence of the second camera, which enables Spectacles to capture depth. The company has built a suite of new 3D effects that take advantage of the device’s new depth perception ability. The new 3D effects will be exclusive to Spectacles, and the company plans to let third-party developers design depth effects starting later this year.
The Motorola One Zoom is an upcoming smartphone with quad rear cameras. Last week, renders and specs of the phone were leaked online. More details have surfaced today and while some confirm what we already know, some are actually new info.
The source of the new leak is Roland Quandt (@rquandt) and he took to Twitter to share the details. First, he reiterates that the phone is called the Motorola One Zoom and not the Motorola One Pro.
But don’t be deceived by the name, the Motorola One Zoom is not an Android One Phone like the other Motorola phones with “One” in their names. Roland Quandt said the phone will come with a special Amazon Alexa integration (shown in action below).

The phone will have four cameras on the back arranged in a matrix. Below the sensors sits the familiar Motorola Batwing logo which actually lights up. We actually think that is a nice touch to add to the device.
The 48MP quad-camera setup is reported to have dual optical image stabilization. This means one of the other three cameras alongside the 48MP 1.6µm primary sensor has OIS.
It is confirmed that the Motorola One Zoom will be powered by the Snapdragon 675 just like the Redmi Note 7 Pro. It will have 4GB of RAM and 128GB UFS storage with a MicroSD card slot for expansion. There may be other variants too but the above configuration will have a price tag of €399 (~$445).

The source has also provided renders of the phone including one with a purple/violet finish. One of the photos shows the phone has a speaker grille at the top while the opposite side is home to the SIM tray.
The renders also show the Motorola One Zoom will come pre-loaded with Amazon apps including Amazon Music, Amazon Photos, and Audible.
Motorola is expected to announce the One Zoom at IFA 2019.
Xiaomi has officially launched a new water purifier that is nicknamed “Lentils”. It is priced at 999 yuan ($141) and is currently on pre-sale on Xiaomi Mall. Those who avail themselves of the product during the presale gets a 50 yuan discount.
The Mi Water Purifier “Lentils” derives its alias from the lentils plant as the gadget is kind of designed like the Lentils pod with the three purification chambers arranged like seeds inside the pod. The water purifier is quite portable, and can easily fit under the kitchen sink. It comes with a dimension of 471x452x170mm. There is also a mini-water tank that is just 3L in volume.
The Xiaomi Mi Lentils Water Purifier uses reverse osmosis (RO) filtration technology with four different purification chambers. The water travels through high-density folding PP cotton in the first chamber and moves to the second chamber containing activated carbon rod. The third chamber contains a reverse osmosis filter and then another activated carbon rod chamber. The water that comes out is of packaging-grade drinking water standards.
The water production efficiency to wastewater ratio is 1:1 meaning none of the water is wasted. The water output rate is 1.3L/minute and so with a 3L tank, the gadget can release drinking water. The total daily water production is about 47 cans which can meet the daily needs of a home of around 3 to 5 persons.
In addition, the Xiaomi Mi Water Purifier Lentils supports the kitchen-type installation and comes with a separate faucet which can be installed free of charge. Of course, this is exclusive to China.
LG is expected to launch two new devices at the beginning of next month at IFA 2019. LG’s phones that may get unveiled at the upcoming IFA 2019 include LG G8X, LG V60 ThinQ, LG 50s and LG V60s. Rumors of a fifth device, called the V50s ThinQ, have just surfaced in the South Korean media. However, the V50s ThinQ is speculated as a rebranded G8X for their domestic market. The G8X is expected to go official as an upgraded version of the LG G8 ThinQ that was showcased at the MWC 2019, back in February.
Kwon Bong-seok, President of the Mobile Communication Division at LG, revealed that the G-series smartphones support the 4G networks whereas the V-series phones will be 5G ready. The reason behind this move is the global recognition of the LG G-series. As opposed to the V-series that is more popular in the domestic market. The international-spec of the LG G8X is expected to feature 4G connectivity, while the South Korean version could get a 5G modem. According to a post by Yonhap News, South Korea has the highest density of 5G users in the world. The figure currently stands at 2 million.
LG is yet to formally announce the specifications of the G8X. However, leak-based renders from Onleaks, in association with Pricebaba were spotted earlier this week. The images highlight the smartphone from every angle, leaving a pretty good idea of what to expect from the device.
The G8X features a 6.2-inch display with a dewdrop notch. The absence of a dedicated fingerprint sensor hints at the possibility of an in-display fingerprint scanner, which would be a first for LG. The dewdrop notch is too small to house any dedicated facial recognition sensors. This means that users will have to stay content with a selfie camera-based screen unlock unit.
If LG plans to replace the G8 ThinQ with the G8X, the hardware needs to be of flagship standards. The G8X is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, although, there is no information on the memory or storage options on offer. The G8X gets a dual camera setup at the rear. LG could introduce new sensors soon, although, the G8X reportedly has the same primary and wide angle setup as the G8 ThinQ.
The images confirm the presence of a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type-C port. The highlight of the G8X is the presence of an earpiece. This means LG has done away with the vibrating screen technology for voice calls, previously seen on the G8 ThinQ.
Xiaomi had launched the Mobi smart Elliptical Machine under the Youpin crowdfunding platform in June this year. The fitness gadget has now been launched for sale at a higher price. The Mobifitness elliptical machine had a crowdfunding price of 2999 yuan ($424) but the gadget is on offer now for 3699 yuan ($525).
The elliptical machine is also known as a spacewalker and is a systemic weight-bearing aerobic device. The elliptical trainer trains the body’s balance and flexibility while exercising the body muscles, effectively strengthens the bones and thus, prevents osteoporosis, and protects the knee joints.
The Mobi Fitness Smart Elliptical Machine uses the orbit of the planetary bodies in a circular motion as a creative source to design the elliptical appearance and motion trajectory. It comes with a Nordic aesthetic design combining a solid wood circle with a metal frame. It uses a front flywheel design, which is also a new trend in the elliptical design industry. The manufacturer claims the design is better than the rear flywheel design, as it brings higher stability, higher technical requirements and occupies a smaller floor space. The fitness gadget equally adopts a dual-track four-axis design which is safer than the common single-track dual-axis design in the market because it effectively prevents derailment
The elliptical machine provides 24 different resistance levels simulating the strength exerted when jogging, walking, running and climbing. There is also smart control of the resistance, to help the user complete the whole process in the most balanced and comfortable body state.
Huawei’s EMUI 10 went official last week and now everyone is wondering when their Huawei and Honor devices will get the new update. The fact that the new OS is based on the latest Android Q version makes it even more interesting, bringing some really useful features like a new app gallery and Digital Wellbeing app to existing Huawei smartphones. It’s not really surprising that the Huawei P30 series will get the first beta update based on EMUI 10. The rollout for the P30 series is scheduled for September 8, but we have got details for other devices in China as well.
huawei emui 10 schedule – Huawei Forums
According to Huawei’s official forums, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro will receive EMUI 10 update on September 8, soon followed by the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20X, Mate 20 RS Porsche Design sometime around late September 2019. As for the devices like the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, Honor V20, and Honor Magic 2, they’ll get the beta version of Magic UI 3.0 around the same time i.e. late September 2019. All these beta versions are based on Android Q, so these phones will soon be running the latest version of Android.
EMUI 10 is an important update for Huawei phones as it improves smoothness and performance on existing devices. The company has even added a system-wide dark mode which even forces apps that don’t have a dark mode to comply. The system settings are better organized in this new version and the OS is designed to offer a better experience when working other devices like a Windows 10 laptop. EMUI 10 allows the smartphone to cast its screen directly on to the Windows 10 device, offering a seamless working experience.
Honor Magic 2 will get the new Magic 3 UI beta update later in September
So far, these are the devices confirmed to receive the EMUI 10 update. But expect more information about other devices as well in the coming days.
The Realme 5 series will launch on August 20. And just as earlier reported the Realme 5 Pro will have a 48MP quad-camera setup on its back. Realme has released an official poster confirming the primary camera.
According to the photo, the Realme 5 Pro will be India’s first 48MP quad-camera phone in its segment. The 48MP sensor is the Sony IMX586 which is present in phones like the Realme X and the Redmi K20.
Alongside the primary 48MP sensor, the phone will also have an ultra-wide camera, a Super Macro camera, and a portrait camera. The ultrawide camera has a 119° field-of-view Which allows you to shoot 1.5x more. The Super Macro lens with a 4cm final length allows you to shoot close up shots of objects. The Realme 5 Pro’s portrait lens, as the name says, should result in sharper and clearer portrait photos.
Yesterday, specs of the phone leaked. The source said the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 712 processor. It will also have an AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. The source also revealed it will have an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The Realme 5 Pro will launch alongside the Realme 5 on August 20 at 12:30 pm in India.

According to the most recent reports, Samsung is still dominating the smartphones market with a noticeable annual growth. And the company keeps releasing amazing handsets: after announcing a foldable phone, the Korean giant officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 10 line-up with huge improvements compared to the predecessor Galaxy Note 9. For the first time since 2011, the Note line-up contains two different variants. This means that we can compare it not only with the most expensive devices out there but also with more affordable Chinese flagships. For this post, we chose to compare the vanilla Galaxy Note 10 with the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro and the Oppo Reno 10x zoom which we believe are among the top 5 most wanted flagship line-ups of the second half of 2019.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 vs Oppo Reno 10x zoom vs Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
Samsung Galaxy Note 10
Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
Oppo Reno 10x zoom
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
151 x 71.8 x 7.9 mm, 168 g
156.7 x 74.3 x 8.8 mm, 191 g
162 x 77.2 x 9.3 mm , 210 g
DISPLAY
6.3 inches, 1080 x 2280p (Full HD+), Dynamic AMOLED
6.39 inches, 1080 x 2340p (Full HD+), Super AMOLED
Tastes play an important role here, but I would personally choose the Galaxy Note 10 because of its more compact size, a lower thickness (despite the presence of the S Pen) and the waterproof certification. However, if we only consider the look, Oppo Reno 10x zoom is definitely more attractive with its full borderless display, it shark fin front camera and its very original glass back, at least according to my tastes. But for me, dimensions and builds quality are more important. Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro remains a very interesting device due to its borderless display with pop-up camera and its solid glass back available in interesting color variants. Which one would you go for?
Display
Despite it has an inferior display to the Galaxy Note 10+ with a lower resolution and a smaller size, the new Galaxy Note 10 has the most amazing screen you can find in this trio. It is the only to be HDR10+ compliant, so it shows more brilliant and realistic colors. Some might not like the hole placed at the center of the display in order to include the front camera while reducing the bezels, but in terms of quality, it has no rivals in this comparison. It even supports the S Pen for handwriting and drawing, which can also be used as a motion controller allowing the control of the display without touching it. Just note that Oppo Reno 10x zoom has a wider panel, but for the rest, Galaxy Note 10 wins.
Hardware/Software
The European version of the Galaxy Note 10 comes with a brand new chipset: the Exynos 9825 built with a better 7 nm process (compared to the 9820) and with improved performances. On the other hand, the U.S. version still comes with the Snapdragon 855 chipset found on the Galaxy S10 series, just like the Oppo Reno 10x zoom and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. So if you are from Europe and other regions in which you can get the Exynos 9825, the Galaxy Note 10 is the best choice for you. Otherwise, we suggest you go for the Oppo Reno 10x zoom which offers the same hardware department plus a micro SD slot to expand the internal storage. In each case, you get a highly customized Android-based user interface.
Camera
If you love to zoom without losing details, then Oppo Reno 10x zoom is the right choice for you thanks to its 10x hybrid zoom and 5x optical zoom. But for all the rest, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is a better camera phone due to its Dual OIS technology, a variable aperture and amazing video recording capabilities.
Battery
If battery life is your priority, do not choose the Samsung Galaxy Note 10. Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro reaches the most satisfying results and it even offers a faster charging technology than the Oppo Reno 10x zoom. But note that Galaxy Note 10 is the only to support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
Price
€950 for the Galaxy Note 10, €800/$895 for the Oppo Reno 10x zoom and just €430/$480 for the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. At the end of the day, if we exclude the battery, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is the winner of this competition. But Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro definitely has a higher value for money. If your budget is not limited (and you do not care about having a longer battery life or a bigger display), it is currently not worth going for the Oppo Reno 10x zoom with the actual prices.
