Honor files trademark applications for future X-series smartphones – 10X/20X/30X/40X/50X

Huawei’s sub-brand – Honor is gearing up for the launch of some new smartphones in the coming few days. To be precise, the Honor 9X series and the successor to Honor 8X is all set to become official on July 23. While that’s certain to happen, Honor has in between applied for certain trademarks for the Honor 9X successors or what we can call as the future Honor X-Series.

As per the source, Honor filed a trademark application with various intellectual property organizations around the globe for its future X-series smartphones. The trademark filing includes – Honor 10X, 20X, 30X, 40X and 50X. It’s interesting to note that the application for the Honor 10X was submitted along with the Honor 9X trademark in 2016, while the rest of the trademarks were submitted in 2018. So, it’s an indication of the future X Series to have the prefix a multiple of 10.

All these trademark applications are filed to safeguard the names and it not necessary that Honor will launch all these devices soon.

However, the Honor 9X is expected to equip the Kirin 810 SoC which is based on the 7nm process. The SoC has two high-performance cores based on Cortex-A76 clocked at 2.27GHz and six high-efficiency cores with Cortex-A55 at 1.88GHz. According to previous information, the Honor 9X will come with a pop-up selfie camera. On the back, there ought to be a dual camera aligned vertically in the upper left corner.

That being said, with the US-China trade war-related issues getting settled lately, it’s Huawei which is going to breath fresh air. The Chinese mammoth is back in its business with the aim to dethrone Samsung from its long-held crown as the leading global smartphone vendor. And, all these Honor X-series devices will help the firm to gain more market share globally.

Vivo S1 Indian version may be the first Helio P65 phone

In late March, Vivo announced the Vivo S1 in China as the first of a new series. The phone is now heading to launch in India. However, while it shares the same name as the Chinese model, leaked live photos show it has a different design. The complete specifications of the phone have also leaked and it reveals the phone will come with a brand new chipset from MediaTek called the Helio P65.

Vivo S1 Indian Version specs

The Vivo S1 Indian Edition will not have a notch-free display like its Chinese sibling of the same name. It also doesn’t have a pop-up selfie camera. Instead, there is a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera.

While it does have triple cameras too, the sensors are different and the design also differs. The length of the housing is shorter, the sensors are closer to each other and not separated by the LED flash which itself has a different shape. The Indian variant also has an in-display fingerprint scanner which Vivo calls “Screen Touch ID”.

Coming to the specs, the Indian model has a smaller 6.38-inch display but an AMOLED panel and not LCD. It swaps the Helio P70 for a new Helio P65. The processor is said to have 8 cores – 2x A75 at 2.0GHz + 6x A55 cores; which should make it more powerful than the Helio P70 which has 4 x A73 cores and 4 X A53 cores. It will be paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

[envira-gallery id=”264072″]

There is a 32MP camera in front for selfies while the rear cameras are made up of a 16MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The Vivo S1 will also have a much bigger 4500mAh battery with Vivo’s Dual Engine fast charging technology. The phone will run Android 9 Pie out of the box.

Photos of the phone show a blue-purple gradient finish. In one of the images, we see there is a sky blue variant on a poster. The phone will come in a white box with a large “S” inscribed on it and is rumored to have a price tag of about INR 20,000 (~$290). The launch date is reported as early August.

HTC Wildfire E with Unisoc processor and 5.45-inch display detailed by a Russian retailer

HTC has become the name of the past since it is almost done with smartphone business. The company’s primary revenue now comes from its VR business, which is growing rapidly. But that does not mean it has entirely done away with smartphones as some details have emerged about the upcoming Wildfire E.

The phone will be a budget device going by the specifications detailed by the retailer. It will be powered by Unisoc (Spreadtrum) SC9863 Octa-core processor having a cluster of 4 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and another 4 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.2GHz. On the other hand, the graphics will be carried out by the PowerVR IMG8322-accelerated GPU. As for memory, the phone will feature 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM.

On the front, it will sport a compact 5.45-inches HD+ IPS LCD with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The front will also house a 5MP camera for selfies and video calls. Whereas at the back, the HTC Wildfire E will house a dual camera array which will include a 13MP primary snapper and a 2MP secondary sensor. Other features of the phone include Bluetooth 4.2, 2.4GHz WiFi, MicroUSB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Last but not least, it will run Android Pie out of the box backed a 3,000 mAh battery.

The information regarding the launch of HTC Wildfire E is still not known, as like its design, and price details. But it is confirmed to arrive in blue color for now.

Google introduced Shoelace – a new social network to ‘tie people together’

Google keeps experimenting with new products and services. The search giant recently retired Google+ social network after several years. However, Google is not holding itself back after failing with Google+, and it is bringing another social network to existence. Yes, Google is launching another social network known with the name of Shoelace. It is Google’s fifth attempt to succeed in social space after the collapse of Google Buzz, Google Friend Connect, and Google+.

google shoelace

After the Shutdown of Google+ in April, Google is once again back to the square one with the Shoelace. The name itself speaks about its features to ‘tie people together.’ It is based on activities and events happening nearby in and around your city. It is aimed to ‘Supercharge your social life’ with the ability to do things with others who share the same interests. It gives a platform for users having common interests.

The users can organize and participate in the events and activities, called “Loops.” The hyperlocal app is somewhat similar to Facebook Events. It is a boon for those who have recently moved to a new city or looking to explore nearby people.

It is a product of Google’s workshop – Area 120, which aims to facilitate real-world connections.

Unlike other social networks, Google is launching it on a smaller scale. Shoelace is limited for testing in New York. The developers are planning for its launch in other cities, but there’s no information present right now.

The new network is open on an invite-only basis. It has even partnered with few communities from where you can get codes. Moreover, the users can fill this form to get the early access code. The Shoelace app is available both on the Android and iOS devices.

European retailer lists Redmi 7A ahead of release, starts at €99

After launching in India and selling out in less than a minute in its first flash sale, the Redmi 7A will be heading to Europe. The launch date is not yet confirmed but it must be really close as a retail store has listed the phone on its site already.

Screenshots of the listing from the unnamed store show the entry-level smartphone will be priced at €99 for the base model which has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. If you want the variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, you will have to shell out €119. From the images, the Redmi 7A will be available in blue and black.

[envira-gallery id=”264056″]

The phone has a 5.45-inch 720 x 1440 screen with moderately thick bezels. For a phone with that price, it isn’t unexpected. There is a Snapdragon 439 processor under the hood and an Adreno 505 GPU. Irrespective of the variant you purchase, you will be able to expand the storage via a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

There is a 5MP camera above the display while a 13MP camera sits on the rear. There is no fingerprint scanner, so the good old pattern, PIN, or password is your best bet to keeping your phone safe. The Redmi 7A runs Android 9 Pie with MIUI on top and packs a 4000mAh battery. It has an audio jack, FM radio, and charges via a MicroUSB port.

Xiaomi Mi CC9e vs Samsung Galaxy M40 vs Huawei Nova 5i

Smartphone manufacturers are releasing so many mid-rangers that it became incredibly hard for the final consumers to make the right choice at the best price. That is why we always make specs comparison between the most interesting devices for both the best flagships and value for money phone. Today’s comparison regards the second category of devices and it contains three amazing affordable phones launched in the recent period. The first is Xiaomi Mi CC9e, the most affordable handset from the new Xiaomi line-up. The second is the higher-end model of the entry-level M series by Samsung: the Galaxy M40. The last is Huawei Nova 5i, also known in the global market as the Huawei P20 Lite (2019).

Design

If you bring a unit of these devices to home, you will get a very well-designed handset. Both Samsung Galaxy M40 and Huawei Nova 5i have punch-hole displays, so their bezels are very narrow and there is no need for a notch. Despite Xiaomi Mi CC9e has a more outdated waterdrop display, I prefer this device instead of its punch-hole rivals because of its better rear side and build quality. It has a stunning glass back which creates suggestive light effects depending on the reflection, and it even comes with a solid aluminum frame. Both Samsung Galaxy M40 and Huawei Nova 5i come with plastic in their design, so worse aesthetics and a cheaper build. Xiaomi Mi CC9e also has the most compact body.

Display

Unlike most of the other devices by Samsung, the Galaxy M40 is not equipped with a stunning display. Xiaomi Mi CC9e is disappointing as well because despite it comes with an AMOLED panel, it has a lower 720p resolution than its opponents. And it even comes with a smaller display. Huawei Nova 5i is my favorite one as it sports a better IPS display with high DCI-P3 coverage and a Full HD+ resolution (1080p). So it is better at detail if compared to the Mi CC9e and better at color reproduction than the Galaxy M40.

Specs & Software

While Samsung Galaxy M40 loses both the design and display comparisons, it is definitely the device with the most powerful chipset, so it is potentially faster and more reactive. On the other hand, Huawei Nova 5i has more RAM (up to 8 GB) in its most expensive configuration, but I personally prefer a better SoC for higher overall performances instead of a better multi-tasking experience. Even the Xiaomi Mi CC9e has a better chipset than the Huawei Nova 5i, but it is a slightly less powerful processor than the Snapdragon 675 found on the Galaxy M40, with a worse GPU too. In each case, you get a highly-customized Android fork based on Android 9 Pie out of the box.

Camera

The camera department is definitely the main focus of the Xiaomi Mi CC9e and it is not a case if it wins most of the camera comparisons on its price range, including this one. It rocks a main 48 MP sensor, an ultrawide lens, a 2 MP depth sensor and even an amazing 32 MP front camera with awesome AI algorithms for selfie enhancing. Huawei Nova 5i comes right after with a quad camera including a dedicated macro camera.

Battery

Due to its higher battery capacity, its efficient HD+ display and its smaller size, Xiaomi Mi CC9e is also the winner of the battery comparison. Huawei Nova 5i takes the second spot in the ranking.

Price

Xiaomi Mi CC9e starts from €170/$190, Samsung Galaxy M40 has a €200/$225 starting price and Huawei Nova 5i starts from €260/$295. If we consider the overall specifications, Huawei Nova 5i looks more promising for most of the potential customers due to its better display, big battery, and good cameras. But Xiaomi Mi CC9e has an even better camera, a better builds quality, a more compact size (as well as a smaller display) and even longer battery life, so it may look like the best budget phone for particular niches (especially compact phones lovers and camera phones lovers). Which one would you pick?

Xiaomi Mi A3 gets a launch date, coming to Poland first

It is raining Mi A3 news today. First, we covered renders and specs of the phone and then it was followed by unboxing photos. The latest is a launch date for the phone in the central European country of Poland.

Mi A3 launch date

A poster has surfaced on the web that reveals the Mi A3 will be launching in Poland on July 25. We think this is where the phone will make its first appearance before heading to other markets and this is because the date is sort of exactly a year after the Mi A2 launched. The Mi A2 was announced on July 24 in Spain and now Xiaomi is taking the launch of its successor to Poland a day after its 1 year anniversary.

The image says the Mi A3 will launch in Warsaw and the event will begin at 1600hrs. Those who can’t make it should be able to watch a livestream of the launch.

The Mi A3 will have an AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint, a Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, a 4030mAh battery, triple rear cameras, and run vanilla Android.

We expect the Mi A3 will launch alongside a less-powerful Mi A3 Lite which will also cost less.

UP NEXT: EMUI 10 will launch at Huawei Developer Conference 2019

Unboxing photos confirm Mi A3 has a Snapdragon 665 processsor

If you have been looking forward to the Mi A3 having a Snapdragon 730 or Snapdragon 710, you sure will be heartbroken by this news. As the title says, we now have confirmation that the Mi A3 will have a Snapdragon 665 processor just like the Xiaomi CC9e. Exclusive unboxing photos of the phone were posted by GsmArena and they show what the retail box of the phone looks like as well as its contents.

[envira-gallery id=”264028″]

The Xiaomi Mi A3 will come in a white box which has images of the phone on the front part of the box. The packaging confirms the phone will come in black, blue and white. There is “Mi A3” written in bold white font in front too.

The unit in the box is black and alongside the phone is a USB Type-C cable and a charger, both in white. The peelable sticker on the front of the phone lists some of the specs.

The Mi A3 will have a 48MP triple rear camera system which includes an ultra-wide-angle camera. It will have a 4030mAh “high-capacity battery”, and a “fast in-screen fingerprint sensor”. The last specification listed is the processor which is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor.

Mi A3 unboxing

Based on these specs, one can say the Mi A3 is actually the Xiaomi CC9e with an FHD+ AMOLED display as the CC9e has an HD+ AMOLED screen.

It is understandable why the Mi A3 isn’t rocking a Snapdragon 730 processor. If it does, it will most likely affect the sales of the Mi 9T/Redmi K20 which has a Snapdragon 730 chipset. Xiaomi will most likely launch the Mi A3 in the same markets where the Mi 9T/Redmi K20 is sold (except for China), and with lots of folks preferring stock Android to MIUI, that might be a recipe for disaster.

The advantage of having a less-powerful chipset is that the phone should sell for less too. It has been reported that the starting price may be lower than that of the Mi A2.

Based on this new leak, the Mi A3’s launch is definitely around the corner and it might launch in less than two weeks. Xiaomi has already begun teasing the phone. It released another set of teasers today which show the phone will have triple rear cameras. And the hashtag #PhotoWithoutLimits confirm camera performance is a primary focus.

Aside from the processor, the Mi A3 is an upgrade over its predecessor in every other way. It has a better display, a bigger battery, brings back the audio jack, and has better cameras. It may also cost less.

There is no news of the Mi A3 Lite at the moment.

Xiaomi Mi A3 official renders and specs surface ahead of launch

Just around the time the Xiaomi CC9 and Xiaomi CC9e phones were about to launch, news of Xiaomi’s next-generation Android One phones also surfaced again. The reason for this is because of evidence showing that the CC9 and CC9e might also launch as the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite in other markets began to show up. Now renders of the Mi A3 including its specs have surfaced.

Mi A3 featured

The official renders and specs show that the Mi A3 will come in three color variants – black, blue, and white; the same ones as the Xiaomi CC9.

Since this is the same device as the CC9, we don’t need to go over the design again, but it is important to mention that it is nice to have the audio jack return following its removal in the Mi A2. There is also the new Android One logo at the bottom left of the phone.

Mi A3 sides

According to Winfuture.de, the source of the images and leaked specs, the Mi A3 will come with a 6.0-inch 2240 x 1080 Super AMOLED Dot Drop display with a fingerprint scanner underneath. The notch is home to a 32MP selfie camera.

On the back, the phone has three cameras – a 48MP f/1.79 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Coming to the processor, the Mi A3 differs from the CC9 as it swaps the Snapdragon 710 processor for the Snapdragon 665 chipset. This is the same info our source told us yesterday which means the Mi A3 is sort of the CC9 with the CC9e’s chipset. Nevertheless, Roland Quandt does advise that he isn’t 100% sure of the specs, so better to take it with a grain of salt.

The Mi A3 will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage and will also have support for storage expansion which Xiaomi once again removed from the Mi A2. Its battery capacity is 4000mAh and there is support for fast charging, though the exact type isn’t mentioned. The phone will have a USB type-C port and an IR blaster for controlling your electronic appliances. It will run Android 9 Pie out of the box.

The phone is scheduled to launch soon and Winfuture reports it will be available in Germany too. It should also be available in other parts of Europe including the UK.

Samsung Galaxy A80 is now landing in the Chinese market. Finally, a device which is not as expensive as the S or Note flagship line-ups, but still offers some high-end specifications. But there are currently a lot of people wondering whether they should go for a Chinese flagship or for the Galaxy A80. We believe that comparing it to the flagships from the most affordable brands is a good way to help you make a decision about which kind of device you should prefer. So we chose the Honor 20 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer for an in-depth specs comparison which matches the price range of affordable flagships which go from €500 to the beginning of the top-tier segment.

Design

Your tastes play the most important role if we talk about the aesthetics of this trio. All of them are built with premium materials including glass for the back cover and aluminum for the frame. They have three different form factors for the display: Honor 20 Pro has a punch-hole screen, Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer has a classic waterdrop notch (but it sports an amazing transparent back) and Samsung Galaxy A80 has a full borderless display without notch, neither holes in the display, thanks to its rotating camera and the absence of a traditional earpiece. Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer has the best build quality (its glasses are protected by Gorilla Glass 6 and the frame is made of 7000 series aluminum), while Honor 20 Pro is the most compact. I personally prefer the Samsung Galaxy A80 due to the higher screen-to-body ratio, but not everyone likes its rear side.

Display

Despite it has the most affordable price tag, Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer is equipped with the best display. It is a Super AMOLED panel which boasts a high DCI-P3 coverage and it is HDR10-compliant, so it has a stunning color reproduction. Right after there is Samsung Galaxy A80 with less accurate colors but a wider display size and still the Super AMOLED technology. The display is not the strongest point of the Honor 20 Pro which is equipped with a classic LCD panel with image quality similar to most of the midrange devices.

Specs & Software

Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer wins the comparison again when it comes to the hardware department. First of all, it sports the most powerful SoC: the octa-core Snapdragon 855 by Qualcomm. Second, it boasts up to 12 GB of RAM which is the highest amount of volatile memory ever mounted on a mobile phone. And it even comes with 256 GB of internal storage in both its memory configurations.

Camera

The absence of OIS on the Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer and the presence of a dedicated macro camera, 3x optical zoom and an amazing 48 MP sensor with a very bright f/1.4 aperture on the Honor 20 Pro would make me go for the Honor 20 Pro which I consider as one of the best camera phones of the year, despite it is an affordable flagship. But if we talk about selfies, Samsung Galaxy A80 wins the comparison because it can use its triple rear setup as a selfie camera too as it is a rotating camera. So with the Galaxy A80, you can shoot very detailed selfies, 4K video selfies, and ultrawide selfies, unlike most of the phones out there.

Battery

Honor 20 Pro has the biggest battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh. And as you are probably thinking, it lasts much more than Galaxy A80 and Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer on a single charge. But Samsung Galaxy A80 is still a good battery phone and it even supports a faster charging technology (Honor 20 Pro is still very fast as it reaches up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes). Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer has everything but long battery life, but it is the only to support wireless charging (which is also very fast with a power of 20W).

Price

Samsung Galaxy A80 has a €650/$730 listing price, Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer starts from €530/$600 and Honor 20 Pro starts from €600/$675. Despite it comes with a smaller battery, at the end of the day, Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer looks more interesting not only for its very high value for money but also for its amazing hardware department, great display fast wireless charging and good build quality. But if you want the best camera and battery life, choose Honor 20 Pro. It makes sense to choose the Samsung Galaxy A80 from this trio only for selfie lovers.

Sony’s WF-1000XM3 “Truly Wireless” Earbud with Noise Reduction Is Announced

Sony recently unveiled the new generation of TWS ACTIVE NOISE headphones WF-1000XM3. The original product was launched a couple of years ago, and Sony fans are waiting with bated breath to get their hands on this headphone as it is expected to boast a slew of radically overhauled features.

Sony’s WF-1000XM3 “Truly Wireless” Earbud with Noise Reduction Is Announced

Much to the chagrin of music lovers, TWS headphones do not offer noise reduction, making the original TWS noise-canceling headphones quite an embarrassment. It is hardly surprising that the people have restlessly been waiting for a TWS headset that boasts the noise reduction feature. Taking this into consideration, Sony has launched the second-generation product.

Thanks to its in-ear TWS earphone with noise reduction function, the Sony WF-1000XM3 has propelled to skyrocketing popularity after hitting the store shelves last week. Despite bearing a slightly steep 1699 Yuan price tag, the device has stirred the interest of those who have restlessly been waiting for headphones to offer the aforesaid feature.

In terms of specs, the new generation WF- The 1000XM3 offers impressive developments in noise reduction performance, connectivity, intelligence, battery life, and overall sound quality. The WF-1000XM3 is not yet made available to the public. Aihuo.com was present at Sony’s Tokyo-based Osaki office to take a gander at the WF-1000XM3 in advance, and use it for an hour in Shibuya and share their feedback.

DESIGN AND BATTERY LIFE

The WF-1000XM3 seems to bear a striking resemblance to the previous generation in terms of appearance. It can be recalled that the previous generation WF-1000X was small, and came with a small attached storage charging box at the time of its launch. Although there were no concerns regarding the bag, it is relatively bigger than some earphone charging boxes without noise reduction available in the market today. This generation retains the same size, in fact, it seems to be a bit larger.

Sony’s WF-1000XM3 “Truly Wireless” Earbud with Noise Reduction Is Announced

However, on the body of the headphone, the WF-1000XM3 have a much professional, clean, and all-around sleek look than just the shiny predecessors.

The Logo of Sony and microphone inlet are covered with copper accents/rose gold. The lightweight and the three-point fixing structure is absolutely comfortable to the ear.

The product is highly likely to garner more popularity among businessmen and women. The WF-1000XM3 is currently available in only two color options including black and white. it is worth noting that the round corners of the earphones do not hide the tough atmosphere. The elimination of shark fin structure makes it unsuitable for heavy activities such as running. In other words, do not use it as a sports headset.

By increasing the size of the charging box, there is a great improvement in the second generation. According to official data, the WF-1000XM3 supports long standby, and it has active noise reduction and can be used for 24 hours (6 hours headset + 18 hours charging box).

Although, when the noise reduction function is off, you can use the headset for 36 hours on standby.

The creator walked around the streets of Tokyo for an hour with the headphones on and the battery was charged to 100%. The robust battery of the WF-1000XM3 supports fast charging, charging for 10 minutes and playing for 90 minutes.

The charging box supports charging the headsets three times, therefore there is no need to worry about the battery life.

Wireless charging is not required because the charging box’s size will be increased after adding the wireless charging function. Nevertheless, no one seems to be complaining about the Type-C USB.

NOISE REDUCTION AND SOUND QUALITY

The noise reduction of WF-1000XM3 is a significant element. As compared to the previous generation WF-1000X, the WF-1000XM3 offers relatively superior noise reduction; in fact, it is the best noise reduction in existing wireless headphones. Sony’s newly invented HD noise reduction processor QN1e handles the task of distinguishing and capturing the noise of the surrounding multi-band.

As soon as it picks up the ambient sound, the QN1e delivers a reverse sound wave in order to offset most of the outside noise. While walking on the road, the user can effortlessly isolate the noise of the car and the radio, but people around can only hear it faintly.

The QN1e HD noise reduction processor is actually a portable low-power version of the QN1 noise reduction chipset of the well-received head-mounted noise-canceling headset WH-1000XM3.

Incorporation of digital noise reduction, digital to analog converter + headphone amplifier, a 24-bit sound signal processor.

The idea is to obstruct the noise from interfering with the output through the well-built wearing structure, and then employ the double feedback microphone in order to capture the ambient noise, and eventually get rid of the environmental noise with the help of QN1e noise reduction processor.

The QN1e HD noise reduction processor combines a 6mm drive unit with a DSEE HX digital sound enhancement engine to give the WF-1000XM3 excellent output performance, which is an improvement over the previous generation. On the Headphone Connect APP, there are also a variety of sound effects and personalized equalizers.

Sony’s WF-1000XM3 “Truly Wireless” Earbud with Noise Reduction Is Announced

The WF-1000XM3 is a great choice for listening to your favorite ACG music. The sound quality is amazing and it is very close to the level of Sony neck-mounted in-ear headphones WI-1000X, although neither the noise nor the sound quality can be matched with Sony’s own and other flagship brands that have noise-canceling headphones (Non-TWS). Nevertheless, it is remarkable to achieve this level for a small TWS noise-canceling headphones.

The company is bent on improving the small form factor of the WF-1000XM3 in terms o noise reduction performance and offer high sound quality, comparable to the WH-1000XM3.

Since it packs self-developed chips, WF-1000XM3 does not support APTX and LDAC. The company pointed out that Qualcomm’s APTX fails to meet Sony’s noise reduction requirements, apart from making the volume larger in order to deliver longer battery life. The research chip is more capable of balancing the size and sound quality of the headphones.

CONNECTION AND TOUCH

Citing the lack of support for the APTX and LDAC, the WF-1000XM3 only supports SBC and AAC. Following the footsteps of its predecessor, the App offers two options including “Sound Priority” and “Stable Connection Priority.” While selecting “Stable Connection Priority” will deliver maximum flow, going for “Sound Priority” will ensure enhanced sound quality. The former uses the SBC transmission format, while the latter relies on the AAC format.

The addition of Bluetooth 5.0 technology has helped the Sony WF-1000XM3 to achieve better stability than the previous generation. A lot of people opt for “stable connection priority,” as they don’t mind losing a bit of sound quality in a bid to let the headphones flow as much as possible.

After testing a few brands of TWS headphones on the busy Shibuya, which is home for two busiest railway stations in the world, I realized that AirPods delivers the best connection performance. There was never a break. Although the WF-1000XM3 is unlikely to flow uninterruptedly, the current interruption will not happen repeatedly.

This time, the WF-1000XM3 can finally be used in one ear, and the left and right earphones simultaneously send Bluetooth signals. The two headphones don’t need to be paired any more, and the previous main/secondary ear settings are discarded.

The creator also compares several well-known TWS products. Sony WF-1000XM3 also shows great progress in terms of delay. While watching a video, several headphones can achieve synchronization of sound and picture, which is difficult to differentiate.

Dream Simulation Warfare is the only mobile game that was tested. Much to my delight, there was no delay in playing it.

The WF-1000XM3 app offers an adaptive noise reduction function (which can be switched off) to determine the user environment and activate the intelligent environment sound control automatically. Moreover, the walking”, “running” and “by-vehicle” modes are automatically identified to automatically activate the preset noise reduction level.

You get access to 20 levels of ambient sounds in total. Ideally, when you are walking, the reduction of the ambient sound will be reduced to check the road conditions and ensure the wearer’s safety. You can set these values manually. It is worth mentioning here that people generally prefer manual intervention rather than automatic identification.

Furthermore, there is no need to take off the earphone as long as your finger is touching it. You can hear the ambient sound immediately and start talking. The headset is programmed to stop playing automatically when you remove it. If you fancy using just one headset, you can switch this feature off using the app.

FINAL VERDICT

Last Friday, Sony spilled the beans on the price tag WF-1000XM3 will be carrying as 1699 yuan in China. This is expected to be slightly higher than the price it will come bearing in the rest of the countries. It was hardly surprising to see a pre-purchase boom last Friday.

If you are still unsure whether or not to buy, here are some of my observations as a first time user that might help you make the decision.

First off, it is imperative for you to be sure that you need the noise reduction feature. The rapidly developing noise-reducing market is over 800 Yuan at the time of writing.

Manufacturers are leaving no stone unturned in a bid to achieve noise reduction in their TWS earbuds. Regrettably, the difficulty faced in terms of data transmission restricts noise reduction in TWS.

Although Qualcomm’s QCC5100 series is capable of integrating dedicated hardware modules to support active noise reduction ANC, the size of the headphone is still a matter of concern in this reference design. Taking this into consideration, Sony decided to take matters in its own hand and came up with the QN1e.

The WF-1000XM3 boasts noteworthy improvements in multiple areas including noise reduction, battery life, sound quality and connectivity as compared to its precursor. Nevertheless, there is still a huge scope for improvement in a couple of areas including connectivity and intelligence.

Both, noise reduction, as well as the sound quality, is comparable, yet lower than the collar headset WI-1000X. Despite this shortcoming, it is still the best in noise reduction in true wireless noise-canceling headphones.

In other words, it is not really wireless, but true wireless without WF-1000XM3 noise reduction.

If you do not give importance to the noise reduction, the market is brimming with top-end TWS headsets such as Sennheiser Momentum TWS, which delivers amazing sound quality, as well as the stable and highly durable AirPods.

However, if you are in the market for a headphone that offers noise reduction and delivers high sound quality, the Sony WF-1000XM3 is the only device that can fill the bill. It is inexpensive, yet a high-end TWS headset with noise reduction.
