Samsung’s Next Top Laptop Could Carry the Ultra Branding Once Again

Next-gen Samsung laptops might include a true flagship model as per new rumors. The brand could be gearing up for a new Galaxy Book Ultra laptop, which not only revives the Ultra series but also brings cutting edge hardware as well. So here’s everything you need to know.

Galaxy Book 6 Ultra May Revive Samsung’s Premium Flagship Laptops

To recall, the South Korean tech giant only released the standard Galaxy Book 5 and Galaxy Book 5 Pro series models in its current laptop generation. It skipped the Ultra variant, last appearing on the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra. But a new report from SamMobile hints that Samsung is bringing this top premium notebook in its next Galaxy Book 6 lineup.

Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra
Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra

For those unaware, the Pro and base Galaxy Books don’t feature a dedicated GPU, instead opting for the integrated graphics of the CPU. This held true even in the Galaxy Book 5 line, which packed Lunar Lake processors. However, the Galaxy Book 4 Ultra was a true powerhouse, featuring up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H and an RTX 4070. The laptop was built to rival a MacBook Pro with a capable and power efficient chip and a powerful GPU for more demanding workloads.

In other words, Samsung will likely bring a similar hardware formula to the new Galaxy Book 6 Ultra. Since the last Ultra model, both Intel and Nvidia have newer and more capable offerings. So we can expect it to come equipped with an RTX 50 series GPU and Intel’s latest Core Ultra 200H series processors. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report filled with speculations about this unannounced laptop’s specs, so take this report with a pinch of salt.

Qualcomm likely to introduce new Snapdragon 8 Plus chip with all-big custom Oryon cores

A fresh leak from a reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, has shed light on Qualcomm’s upcoming SM8845 chip. And no, it’s not the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (that’s the SM8850) or even the Snapdragon 8s Gen 5, which DCS previously claimed would not arrive this year. The SM8845 will introduce a new tier to Qualcomm’s SoC line instead.

Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy

According to a previous report, the chip may be called Snapdraogn 8 Plus and serve as a more affordable alternative to Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship, Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.

Snapdragon 8 Plus with custom Oryon cores

The tipster says the SM8845 will feature a fully custom, self-developed core design built entirely around large cores. It means the company is bringing its in-house Oryon cores from last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite to a new sub-premium lineup just one generation later. And all those large cores could clock at no less than 3GHz.

The chip could also take advantage of TSMC’s N3P process, the same manufacturing node expected for the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. On top of that, Qualcomm is rumored to be borrowing some flagship-tier components from the 8 Elite 2.

Digital Chat Station previously mentioned that the alleged Snapdragon 8 Plus will share the same GPU architecture as the 8 Elite 2. The idea seems to be offering near-flagship performance without the ultra-flagship price tag.

The leak further reveals that brands like Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus are already working on devices powered by the SM8845. And they appear to be going big on batteries as well, as some models are rumored to ship with packs as large as 8,000mAh.

The Snapdragon 8 Plus is expected to arrive sometime in Q4 2025. Qualcomm hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but we’ll keep you in the loop as more details emerge.

Pixel 10 takes the lead over Galaxy S25 with proper Qi2 support

As the race for smartphone innovation intensifies, Google appears to be gaining an edge over Samsung with its upcoming Pixel 10 series. According to new leaks, the Pixel 10 lineup will offer full support for Qi2 wireless charging — including magnetic alignment — giving it a more seamless charging experience compared to Samsung’s Galaxy S25.

The latest leak from reliable tipster Evan Blass shows Google’s upcoming “Pixelsnap” wireless charger magnetically attached to a Pixel 10 device — without a case. This suggests the phone has magnets built directly into its design, a rare feature among Android phones. It also supports previous information from the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which noted that “major Android smartphones” are expected to adopt Qi2 with 25W wireless charging.

This means Pixel 10 models — including the standard, Pro, and Pro XL — will snap perfectly into place with Qi2 chargers and accessories, similar to Apple’s MagSafe system. The phones are expected to support the Qi2.2.1 standard, allowing for 25W wireless charging — a boost in both speed and efficiency compared to previous generations.

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 misses full Qi2 implementation

Qi2 charging includes two power profiles: BPP (Basic Power Profile) and MPP (Magnetic Power Profile). While Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series supports the basic profile, it lacks the convenience of built-in magnetic alignment — reportedly due to concerns that magnets could interfere with S Pen functionality. Since Pixel devices don’t rely on a stylus, Google has more flexibility to fully embrace the technology and make the Pixel 10 series stand out.

Samsung users can still get a magnetic experience through protective cases with built-in magnets, enabling 15W Qi2 charging with better alignment. However, it’s not quite as seamless as having magnetic support integrated directly into the phone.

Viltrox launches AF 15mm F1.7 Air: Lightweight wide-angle prime for APS-C cameras

Viltrox has officially launched the AF 15mm F1.7 Air, a compact wide-angle lens designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras. The lens is available for Sony E, Nikon Z, and Fujifilm X mounts and is priced between $227 and $239, depending on the mount. It weighs just 180 to 195 grams, making it a lightweight option for creators who need portability without sacrificing optical performance.

Viltrox AF 15mm F1.7 Air

Viltrox AF 15mm F1.7 Air Specifications

The AF 15mm F1.7 Air provides an 84.9° field of view, equivalent to 22.5mm on a full-frame camera. This makes it suitable for shooting landscapes, street photography, vlogging, and interiors. The bright F1.7 aperture supports low-light performance and enables subject separation with smooth background blur.

Viltrox has equipped the lens with an STM stepping motor for fast and silent autofocus. The autofocus system supports face and eye detection, allowing for accurate subject tracking in both stills and video. The lens also performs well in video shooting scenarios with minimal focus breathing and low distortion.

The optical structure includes 12 elements in 10 groups. This setup features three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, three high-refractive index (HR) elements, and two aspherical elements. Viltrox says the combination reduces chromatic aberrations, improves sharpness across the frame, and controls distortion. The lens also uses advanced coatings to suppress flare and ghosting when shooting in challenging lighting conditions.

The AF 15mm F1.7 Air continues the design approach of the Viltrox Air series. It features a compact metal body, a standard 58mm filter thread, and a USB-C port for firmware updates. The front element includes splash-resistant and anti-fouling coatings, and the lens ships with an upgraded lotus-style hood.

Viltrox AF 15mm F1.7 Air

Viltrox positions the lens as an affordable wide-angle tool for both beginners and experienced creators. It is now available for purchase through the official Viltrox store and Amazon, with local shipping from warehouses in the US and EU.

Just today, we published our review of the Viltrox AF 135mm F1.8 LAB FE, exploring whether it could be the Sony portrait lens killer. Be sure to check it out.

Xiaomi launches two new humidifiers with quiet operation, no visible mist & HyperOS

Xiaomi has announced the Mijia Mist-Free Humidifier 3 in two variants, targeting different room sizes with upgraded smart features and a mist-free evaporative design.

The 400mL/h version is priced at 279 yuan ($38), while the higher-capacity 600mL/h model costs 369 yuan ($51). Both models will be available through crowdfunding starting next Wednesday on Xiaomi’s Youpin platform.

Xiaomi Mijia Mist-Free Humidifier 3

Xiaomi Mijia Mist-Free Humidifier 3 Specifications

The Mijia Mist-Free Humidifier 3 uses natural evaporation technology instead of ultrasonic or steam-based misting. This approach eliminates visible mist, making it safer for use around electronics and more comfortable for people sensitive to airborne particles.

The 600mL/h version features a 5-liter silver ion-infused tank and supports room sizes between 20 and 30 square meters. It operates at a low noise level of 30.7dB(A) in sleep mode and uses a dome-style LED display to show real-time humidity levels.

The smaller 400mL/h version includes a 4-liter water tank designed for up to 18 hours of continuous use. It also features a silver ion coating to prevent bacterial growth and is suitable for smaller spaces like bedrooms and children’s rooms. It operates even more quietly, with a noise level of 29.4dB(A), and supports the same LED display and physical button controls.

Both models come with a 3D antibacterial filter that Xiaomi claims blocks over 99% of bacteria. The filters are machine washable and have a recommended lifespan of 6 to 12 months. The devices use a DC frequency-conversion motor, an enclosed water pump, and low-resistance airflow channels to maintain efficiency while keeping noise levels down.

The humidifiers connect to the Mi Home app for remote control, humidity target settings (40%–70%), and smart automation. Both support XiaoAI voice control and are integrated with Xiaomi’s HyperOS smart home ecosystem.

The humidifiers also offer water shortage alerts, a descaling mode, detachable components for easier cleaning, and automatic shutoff for safety. Xiaomi states both models have a compact footprint, with the 600mL/h version designed for larger living rooms and the 400mL/h model suited for smaller spaces.

In related news, Xiaomi recently launched the Mijia Wireless Floor Scrubber 4 with 18,000Pa suction power and a 40-minute battery life. The company has also introduced a new gadget that massages the scalp, dispenses serum, and aims to help with hairline care.

Vivo’s Latest Foldable Flagship with Zeiss Optics Hits the Shelves in India: Here’s Price, Specs, & More

Back in June 2025, the Vivo X Fold 5 was unveiled in the global market as the successor to the widely acclaimed Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Vivo X Fold 5 on Sale: What you get for Rs 1.5 Lakhs

The Chinese brand has just started the first sale of the Vivo X Fold 5 in a single color option and storage configuration. So you get the flagship foldable in the Titanium Gray color for Rs 149,999 (roughly 1,711 US Dollars). Vivo X Fold 5
Vivo X Fold 5

Under the hood, Vivo X Fold 5 has the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as the X Fold 3 Pro, which is still quite a capable chip in 2025. A large 6,000mAh battery pack powers this device with support for 80W wired and 40W wireless fast charging. But this year’s Vivo foldable phone is thinner and lighter (4.3mm unfolded, 9.2mm folded, & 217g), nearly matching the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

For this hefty price, you also get Zeiss optics and tuning on the triple camera setup on the rear. The camera setup is identical to the premium Vivo X200 model and offer three 50MP sensors for the main, 3x telephoto, and ultra wide angle shooters. Both the cover and primary screen house a 20MP slefie shooter. Other notable features include a side mounted fingerprint scanner, IP58 + IP59+ rating for water and dust resistance, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.4.

India’s smartphone market soars in Q2: iPhone 16 tops charts, Vivo leads shipments, Nothing up 146%

India’s smartphone market saw a surge in Q2 2025, reaching new heights in both value and demand—particularly in the premium and ultra-premium segments. According to Counterpoint Research, the market’s wholesale value jumped 18% year-over-year, setting a new record for any second quarter.

The growth was fueled by strong momentum in high-end devices. The iPhone 16 emerged as the most-shipped smartphone in the country during the quarter, helping Apple post its best Q2 performance yet. Samsung followed closely, claiming a 23% share of the total market value thanks to solid demand for its Galaxy A and S25 series.

While Apple led the premium space, Vivo dominated unit shipments overall, thanks to popular models in the budget-friendly ₹10,000–₹15,000 segment. Oppo secured third place with strong sales from its A and K series.

Other brands saw impressive gains. OnePlus posted 75% year-on-year growth in the ultra-premium category, driven by the OnePlus 13 and 13R, while the more compact OnePlus 13s (review) is reportedly gaining traction. Realme’s GT 7 lineup also found favor, particularly the Aston Martin F1-inspired Dream Edition.

Motorola enjoyed an 86% boost in shipments, thanks to its expanding retail presence and demand for its G and Edge series. Lava made a strong comeback in the sub-₹10,000 category, with a 156% surge supported by clean software and better after-sales service.

Nothing, another standout brand, posted its sixth consecutive quarter of triple-digit growth—rising 146%—largely due to strong demand for the CMF Phone 2 Pro.

With premium devices gaining ground and mid-range options still thriving, India’s smartphone market is showing both depth and diversity. The question now: will this premium momentum continue into the second half of 2025?

Lenovo’s First Rollable Laptop Is Finally Here, But It’ll Cost You Over $3200

Back in January 2025, we covered a list of five of the most bizarre tech products unveiled at CES 2025. One of these entries included the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, Lenovo‘s first commercially available rollable laptop. Now, this model has finally hit the shelves, and it only costs a few hundred dollars more than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7.

ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Release: Lenovo’s Most Futuristic Laptop Yet?

The Chinese tech giant has finally started ‘rolling’ out the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 model from its official stores with an exorbitant price tag of 3,299 US Dollars. For this price, you get Intel’s Core Ultra 7 258V, which isn’t particularly powerful but does offer great power efficiency. This latest gen Intel processor is paired with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD.

ThinkBook-Plus-Gen-6-Rollable
Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6

But what you’re actually paying for here is its unique rollable display. 14-inch is a comfortable form factor for a laptop screen, since it can meet most requirements of a student/office worker (portability is a bonus). However, you might miss a larger screen every now and then. With the Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, you get the best of both words, since its original 14-inch panel can rollout to a 16.7-inch panel. This screen expansion is done seamlessly as the display panel extends upward.

The rollable display also means you’re not worried about any distracting crease on screens of foldable laptops. Lenovo packs an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 400 nits of peak brightness, and 2000 x 1600p resolution (goes up to 2000 x 2350p). Other notable features include Dolby Atmos support, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Hardman Kardon speakers, and a 66Whr battery pack.

From Green Line to Great Deal: OnePlus 9R Owner Upgrades to 12R for Just Rs 6000

In a refreshing turn of events, a OnePlus customer got one of the best deals despite facing the annoying green line issue. The company just gave a OnePlus 9R owner the greatest deal of his life by upgrading his phone to the newer and more powerful OnePlus 12R for just pennies. So here’s the whole story.

Did OnePlus Just Drop the Deal of the Year?

Earlier this week, a Redditor shared a new post talking about his customer service experience after his OnePlus 9R started facing display issues. You can already guess that the annoying green line problem reared its ugly head once again, but OnePlus was ready this time. This OnePlus 9R user had owned his smartphone for 4.5 years at this point and had already gotten his device fixed for free before.

onePlus-12R
OnePlus 12R

But the issue resurfaced recently with a new color hue. Instead of the typical green line, his OnePlus 9R suffered from a pink line problem. Thanks to OnePlus’ commitment of lifetime warranty on display (for green line related services), the company would fix the display for free once again. However, the customer service also offered an alternative deal. Either get his phone fixed for free, or pay just 6,000 INR and get a brand new OnePlus 12R (8GB + 256GB model).

This was the easiest no-brainer as the OnePlus customer paid peanuts for his more updated and powerful new phone. We just covered a report regarding the brand’s latest OnePlus 13s compact flagship getting a green line issue, but that incident is still under investigation. But considering OnePlus’ response to this loyal customer, the company clearly has things covered for its users.

The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra has been certified with an 11,600mAh battery—slightly larger than the 11,200mAh unit found in last year’s Tab S10 Ultra. Earlier leaks pointed to a slightly higher capacity, but this confirmed number still suggests a small improvement in battery life. It also supports 45W fast charging, just like its predecessor, meaning users won’t need a new charger but shouldn’t expect faster top-ups either.

The device will come in several variants, including a Wi-Fi-only model, a 5G + Wi-Fi version, and a South Korea-specific model. Under the hood, it’s expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ chip, which brings a significant performance bump over the previous generation, along with a 12-core GPU and a primary Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.73GHz.

The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra will ship with Android 16 and One UI 8 out of the box. It also features 12GB of RAM and a refined design—complete with a smaller notch and the removal of the visible S Pen charging strip on the back, giving it a cleaner look overall.

With a launch expected sometime in October 2025, the Tab S11 Ultra is poised to go head-to-head with other premium tablets. Whether these incremental upgrades will be enough to maintain its edge remains to be seen—but Samsung clearly isn’t holding back.

FOSSiBOT F107 Pro: World’s First Starlight Night Vision Phone for Extreme Environments

FOSSiBOT launched the F107 Pro, a high-performance, rugged smartphone that pioneers several new technologies, including the world’s first starlight night vision tech in a mobile device. Designed for outdoor explorers, emergency professionals, and extreme sports users, the F107 Pro aims to deliver advanced imaging and performance in the most challenging environments.

Industry-First Starlight Night Vision Technology

The F107 Pro is the first rugged smartphone to feature a full-color starlight night vision camera. Unlike conventional infrared night vision systems that capture only black and white images, this technology allows users to shoot clear and vivid color images even in extremely low-light conditions down to 0.0005 lux.

This is achieved through an F1.0 ultra-wide aperture lens combined with the AX620Q ultra-sensitive sensor, which utilizes ambient light sources such as starlight and moonlight. Notably, the system operates without infrared illuminators, making it more power-efficient and better suited for stealth-sensitive scenarios. This capability is particularly valuable for jungle exploration, cave navigation, disaster response, and nighttime maritime operations.

Advanced Triple Camera System

The device includes a flagship-grade camera array optimized for clarity, speed, and versatility. The primary camera is a 200-megapixel Samsung S5KHP3SP03 sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size, an F1.95 aperture, a six-piece lens structure, and phase detection autofocus. This setup enables rapid focusing speeds of 0.1 seconds and high-resolution image capture.

Supporting this is a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor that serves as a dual-purpose wide-angle and macro lens with an F1.79 aperture. This allows for detailed close-ups and expansive landscape shots without switching modules.

On the front, a 32-megapixel Sony IMX616 sensor powers the selfie and video call functions. All video recordings benefit from electronic image stabilization (EIS) to reduce motion blur and shake.

MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Performance

The F107 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, built on a 4-nanometer process for high power efficiency and thermal management. The processor includes four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, ensuring a balanced blend of performance and efficiency.

An integrated AI processing unit supports real-time enhancements for voice recognition, video stabilization, and low-light photography. The device includes 12 GB of physical RAM, which can be expanded by an additional 18 GB of virtual memory, allowing for up to 30 GB of total RAM. It also offers 512 GB of onboard storage with support for microSD cards up to 2 TB.

Battery and Charging Capabilities

Powering the device is a 28,000 mAh high-capacity battery, designed for extended off-grid usage. This battery offers up to 30 days of standby time, 215 hours of call time, and 133 hours of music playback.

Despite its size, the battery supports 66W fast charging, reducing downtime during recharging. The phone also features 10W reverse charging, enabling it to function as a power bank for other devices in the field.

Durability Standards and Functional Design

The F107 Pro meets MIL-STD-810H military durability standards and is rated IP68 and IP69K for water and dust resistance. It is engineered to survive drops, mud, rain, sand, heat, and sub-zero temperatures. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass for added scratch resistance.

Additional features include a high-lumen flashlight with a 50-meter beam distance and an anti-slip lanyard mount for secure handling during rugged use.

Display and Visual Output

The phone is equipped with a 5.95-inch Full HD+ LCD, optimized for visibility in direct sunlight and outdoor environments. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth user interaction and improved responsiveness during gaming and media playback.

Pricing and Promotions

The FOSSiBOT F107 Pro is priced at $549, with a limited-time launch offer of $439.99. During the launch period, customers will automatically be entered into a giveaway for the F1200 Power Station, valued at $599, and will also have the opportunity to win an F107 Pro unit via a live website event.

Samsung confirms multi-partner AI strategy for Galaxy S26

Samsung is rethinking its AI strategy for the Galaxy S26 series. While recent Galaxy flagships have leaned heavily on Google’s Gemini for intelligence, the S26 lineup is set to offer something different: a multi-assistant AI experience designed to give users more choice and flexibility.

A broader AI vision for Galaxy phones

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Won-Joon Choi, head of Samsung’s mobile division, confirmed that the company plans to open up its ecosystem to multiple AI agents. That means Google Gemini won’t be the sole intelligence powering Galaxy phones moving forward.

Choi explained that Samsung has built a flexible framework that can support a range of AI assistants, as long as they offer strong performance and a smooth user experience. This approach could pave the way for integrations with other AI companies, such as Perplexity, which Samsung is reportedly considering investing in to bring its capabilities directly to Galaxy devices.

While full details are still under wraps, Samsung plans to share more closer to the Galaxy S26’s expected launch in early 2026. For now, the move signals a major shift in how the company thinks about AI — one that could give users a richer, more customizable experience.

Samsung’s decision to embrace a multi-AI framework with the Galaxy S26 marks a strategic step away from relying solely on Google’s ecosystem. By allowing multiple assistants to coexist — and possibly compete — on its devices, Samsung is aiming to boost innovation and offer users more control over their digital experience.

With the S26 launch still some time away, this shift could mark one of the most significant changes in how Samsung smartphones operate — especially since AI has become a central focus for Samsung across both its flagship and mid-range devices in recent years.

HyperOS 3 update will initially reach these 10 Xiaomi devices

Xiaomi HyperOS 3 update rollout

Xiaomi is expected to release HyperOS 3.0 around September, which will be based on Android 16. This major upgrade is said to bring numerous changes across the system and introduce a suite of new features to enhance the software experience and make it more useful for users. However, as you may already know, the rollout doesn’t happen all at once. Instead, Xiaomi rolls out in batches, and here are the devices that will be the first to get the HyperOS 3 update.

Xiaomi will roll out HyperOS 3 update to these devices first

Xiaomi hasn’t announced the HyperOS 3 rollout timeline yet. The list we’ve shared below was prepared by the folks at Xiaomi Time.

  • Xiaomi 15
  • Xiaomi 15 Pro
  • Xiaomi 15 Ultra
  • Xiaomi 15T Pro
  • Xiaomi 14T Pro
  • Redmi K80 Ultra
  • Redmi K70 Ultra

The upcoming Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro will ship with HyperOS 3 (based on Android 16) right out of the factory.

Xiaomi typically rolls out major HyperOS updates starting with the newest flagship smartphones, and then gradually expands them to the remaining flagship models and mid-range phones. Budget devices need to wait a little longer to receive updates.

What to expect from HyperOS 3?

The next major upgrade for Xiaomi devices will bring many new features and enhancements from HyperOS 3. Additionally, it will include new features and changes directly from the development team at Google, as part of Android 16.

The HyperOS 3 upgrade is said to introduce Apple’s Dynamic Island-like feature with integration to many third-party apps. For the uninitiated, it’s an interactive UI element that shows live updates from apps such as food delivery, ride-hailing, and music, and lets you interact with them without needing to open the app.

The next major upgrade is also expected to bring UI changes, smoother animations, performance optimizations, and system stability improvements. Additionally, there may be new AI features, widgets, and more customizations for a more personalized experience.

Android Protection could also be part of this upgrade, which is an array of security features designed to protect users from online attacks, harmful apps, unsafe websites, scam calls, and other online threats. It could also introduce the Notification Cooldown feature, which lowers the volume and minimizes alerts when you receive multiple notifications from the same app in quick succession. For tablets and large-screen devices, there may be a new Desktop Windowing feature that offers a desktop-like multitasking experience, allowing users to open, group, and resize multiple app windows.

We are possibly just a few weeks away from the HyperOS 3 release. We’ll have more clarity on which devices will receive the update first and what’s coming inside the package as we get closer to the release. You can regularly visit our HyperOS section for the latest information.

Xiaomi air conditioners are heating up the competition as online sales skyrocket in Q2

Xiaomi’s air conditioner business isn’t just quietly growing; it’s mounting a serious challenge to the old guard of Chinese home appliance giants. According to newly revealed Q2 2025 data, the company has officially locked in the No. 3 position in China’s online air conditioner market, capturing a 16.2% market share and inching dangerously close to Gree’s throne.

The monthly breakdown paints an even more dramatic picture. In April, Xiaomi held a modest 14.25% share. By May, it surged to 17%, nearly overtaking Gree, which dipped to 17.16%. June saw a slight pullback for Xiaomi to 16.5%, but Gree didn’t capitalize much, ending the quarter at 17.27%. Midea remains ahead with a comfortable lead, but its share is slowly receding from 23.45% in April to 22.18% in June.

Xiaomi Air Conditioner

These numbers aren’t just an anomaly. They’re a sign that Xiaomi’s strategy is working.

Unlike legacy brands that lean on decades of retail dominance and brand equity, Xiaomi is playing an entirely different game. Its products are born in the internet age, and its sales funnel lives online, right where its user base thrives. Xiaomi doesn’t need to fight for shelf space in a crowded electronics mall. It just needs a flash sale on JD.com or a viral post on Weibo. And increasingly, that’s enough.

Still, overtaking Gree or Midea won’t be easy. Both companies have cemented their presence in Chinese households for generations, and that kind of brand trust doesn’t evaporate overnight. As industry observers have noted, familiarity breeds loyalty in the world of air conditioners, and when you’re dealing with a product people rely on for comfort and survival during scorching summers, trust matters.

But Xiaomi isn’t just selling air conditioners. It’s selling an ecosystem. That means your Xiaomi phone can control your Xiaomi AC, your Xiaomi speaker can report the room temperature, and your Xiaomi home hub can optimize your power usage across every device. That interconnectedness is a powerful differentiator, especially for younger consumers who’ve grown up on smart tech and seamless integration.

Xiaomi’s Group President Lu Weibing has already laid out the company’s ambition: break into the top two in China’s air conditioner market by 2030. If current momentum holds, that timeline may end up being conservative. The gap is shrinking. The market is shifting. And Gree, for the first time in a long time, might have something to sweat about.

In related news, Xiaomi recently launched a new floor-standing air conditioner featuring rapid cooling and heating, a 115° wide-angle swing, and HyperOS integration. The company has also unveiled the Robot Vacuum Mop 5 Pro, equipped with AI-driven cleaning and a powerful 23,000Pa suction system.
