Realme new logo

Realme 3 Pro is the company’s latest smartphone which comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ waterdrop notch display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 AIE processor with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.

At the Huawei Global Analyst Conference, the China-based giant has announced its 5G roadmap. As per the company’s plans, the Huawei Mate X — the company’s first foldable as well as first 5G smartphone, will be launched in June this year.

The report further states that the China-based company also has plans to launch another 5G smartphone in October this year. This could be Huawei’s third 5G smartphone after the Mate X and Mate 20 X 5G that was recently announced.

Huawei 5G Roadmap

Samsung officially announces the postponement of Galaxy Fold release

There were reports, which could pass for rumours, that Samsung had postponed the proposed Galaxy Fold China  launch scheduled to hold on April 26 due to issues with the display. Samsung has now officially released a press statement intimating that the Fold’s release has been postponed indefinitely.Samsung Galaxy Fold

Recall that the Galaxy Fold was released last week to reviewers andthe feedbacks were all not so good. A couple of the units were damaged due to some sort of defective displays. A few of the reviewers damaged theirwhen they attempted removing the protective film on the display, which was easily confused with a disposable screen protector pre-installed on many smartphones nowadays.

Related: Samsung Galaxy Fold hands on video extensively shows the foldable phone in action

Here’s the full statement from the Korean tech giant below:

“We recently unveiled a completely new mobile category: a smartphone using multiple new technologies and materials to create a display that is flexible enough to fold. We are encouraged by the excitement around the Galaxy Fold.

While many reviewers shared with us the vast potential they see, some also showed us how the device needs further improvements that could ensure the best possible user experience.

To fully evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests, we have decided to delay the release of the Galaxy Fold. We plan to announce the release date in the coming weeks.

Initial findings from the inspection of reported issues on the display showed that they could be associated with impact on the top and bottom exposed areas of the hinge. There was also an instance where substances found inside the device affected the display performance.

We will take measures to strengthen the display protection. We will also enhance the guidance on care and use of the display including the protective layer so that our customers get the most out of their Galaxy Fold.

We value the trust our customers place in us and they are always our top priority. Samsung is committed to working closely with customers and partners to move the industry forward. We want to thank them for their patience and understanding.

Samsung will take the same to properly ensure that users understand that the protective display layer is not to be removed from the screen. At the same time, it will figure out how to strengthen the display’s protection.

Xiaomi launches the Populele 2 Smart Ukulele priced at 599 yuan ($89)

Xiaomi has launched the Populele 2 Smart Ukulele. The musical device is a successor to the Populele smart Ukulele that was first launched in February 2017 under the MIJIA crowdfunding platform. The product was well received with almost six times more than the set goal achieved and this may have spurred XIaomi to develop an improved version. Populele 2

The Populele 2 comes with a more streamlined design which looks modernized and sort f digital rather than like the traditional Ukulele. The first-gen Populele was made from Indonesian rosewood with imported nylon strings. This time around, the Populele 2 Smart Ukulele’s bod is made using high-purity T700 carbon fiber composite material, supplemented with ASA resin, to reconstruct the body process. The body is 360-degree arc rounded and comes in two stylish colour options; Matt Black and White.Xiaomi Populele 2 Smart Ukulele

This model comes with similar features as the first-gen model and more. It comes with Bluetooth which can be used to interact with the smart “Music CP” app on a smartphone. The app shows the chord that is struck and actually records the same for future reference. It also provides a quide to take beginners through the steps of learning to play the Ukulele. The app provides video demonstrations for tasks such as fingering, chord progression. It comes with seven pop songs that can easily be learnt in a matter of days. There is also a metronome counter that moves at a rhythm that the player can catch up with learning a new song. If there are persistent errors, the counter slows down the tempo of the song. The training guide is said to have been developed in conjunction with the Berklee College of Music. Xiaomi Populele 2 Smart Ukulele

Chang Cheng reveals the Lenovo Z6 Pro full specs ahead of tomorrow’s launch

Lenovo will finally launch the much-anticipated Z6 Pro flagship tomorrow (April 23) in China. Ahead of the launch, Lenovo’s VP Chang Cheng has revealed the full specifications of the model on Weibo. Mr Cheng has been the source of most of the details we know about the Lenovo and this last leak could be termed as “the straw that broke the camel’s back”. As it stands, little is left unknown about the Lenovo Z6 Pro.

Lenovo Z6 Pro

The VP shared a screenshot of the “About Phone” page of the Z6 Pro. The screenshot reaffirms the presence of a 6.39-inch water drop notch screen with a 32MP selfie cam and built-in fingerprint scanner. The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 which will pair with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. This is definitely likely the topmost variant as there will be other memory variants. The most spectacular feature is unarguably the quad camera setup at the back which is shown to consist of a 48MP + 16MP + 8MP + 2MP camera sensors. The sensors are said to team up to provide the capability for the phone to output images at a resolution of 100MP. The rear camera is also listed to feature the new Hyper Video feature for faster speed transfers and have enhanced macro capabilities.

Lenovo Z6 Pro

The screenshot shows the Z6 Pro will have dual SIM capabilities, both 4G, although the device is said to support 5G connectivity. It runs on ZUI 11 based on Android 9.0 Pie. The phone is also listed to pack a 4000 mAh battery as well as Dolby Panoramic Sound for enhanced 360-degree sound and a liquid cooling system.

What’s left is for Lenovo to announce the pricing and availability. Perhaps, we’ll need some explanations on how the 100MP resolution image pans out.

OnePlus CEO confirms new display technology for the OnePlus 7 Pro

Manufacturers keep looking for ways to stand out from the competition. For the upcoming OnePlus flagship, OnePlus boasts the display is a game changer. In an exclusive interview with The Verge, Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus, has confirmed the OnePlus 7 Pro will have an impressive display.

In the interview, Pete Lau confirmed the names of the two phones expected to launch next month are OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. However, only the latter will be coming with this new display that costs them three times the usual budget for display panels.

OnePlus 7 Pro sketch

Mr. Lau was careful not to provide any details of the display but he did say he was stunned the first time he saw it. The OnePlus 7 Pro’s screen will “redefine fast and smooth” and is “super-smooth and very crisp”.

The new display is said to have a refresh rate of 90Hz which is faster than that of most phones right now. OnePlus isn’t the first manufacturer to launch a phone with a higher refresh rate. Sharp, Razer, and ASUS all have phones with refresh rates higher than 60Hz. Except for ASUS, Sharp and Razer’s phones actually have a refresh rate of 120Hz.

As with all new OnePlus phones, this will be more expensive than the last. OnePlus will need to convince buyers that the increase in price is actually worth it. The OnePlus 7 itself won’t feature the new display and leaked specs say it will retain the 20W fast-charging technology of the OnePlus 6T and also have dual rear cameras. The Pro version not only gets a better display but also a bigger battery, three rear cameras, and 30W fast charging support.

Realme 3 Pro vs Redmi Note 7 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy A60: Specs Comparison

Oppo is ready to dominate the midrange segment of the smartphones market with a brand new device from its sub-brand: the Realme 3 Pro. With its amazing performance and its incredibly affordable price, it may cannibalize the sales of the other best-selling devices in the Asian market, such as the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Alongside these two devices, even Samsung is trying to conquer the midrange segment with a new device: the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy A60. Which of these devices will have the biggest success and which is worth buying currently? We can give you an idea about it in this in-depth specs comparison.

Design

Are you searching for the most innovative, futuristic and optimized design? Then go for the Samsung Galaxy A60 as it is definitely the most attractive thanks to its punch-hole display. With an in-display camera, it does not need a notch in order to minimize the bezels around the display, and it comes with a very high screen-to-body ratio. But if you are seeking for the best build quality, then choose the Redmi Note 7 Pro as it is water resistant and it is equipped with a strong Gorilla Glass 5 display. Even the Realme 3 Pro has a Gorilla Glass 5 display, but it is not as impressive as its rivals because it is not water resistant, it has a classic polycarbonate design and it does not sport a punch-hole display.

Display

Talking about the displays, Samsung is always the master when it comes to smartphones panels. But not in this case. Unlike most of the other mid-rangers by the company, the Samsung Galaxy A60 has a classic IPS panel instead of a Super AMOLED display. So you will not notice a big difference between the Samsung Galaxy A60, the Realme 3 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. All of them sport an average LCD panel with a Full HD+ resolution, so it is essentially a draw.

Specs & Software

Realme 3 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 710 chipset, while Redmi Note 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A60 are equipped with a Snapdragon 675. Are you wondering which SoC is better? It essentially depends on your needs. The Snapdragon 710 comes with a better GPU, so it has higher graphics performance. It is better for gaming and all those activities which require a strong GPU. But in CPU performances and daily use, the Snapdragon 675 is slightly more convincing, despite it belongs to a lower-end series. Realme 3 Pro, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A60 all come with 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of expandable internal storage, and they are all based on Android 9 Pie.

Camera

Realme 3 Pro borrows the primary sensor of its dual rear camera from the OnePlus 6T, so it is definitely an amazing camera phone for its price range. But Samsung Galaxy A60 is even more interesting with its bright 32 MP f/1.7 main sensor and a triple camera including an ultrawide lens. So that is what would I go for: the Samsung Galaxy A60 due to its brighter focal aperture and its ultrawide sensor. But do not underestimate Redmi Note 7 Pro which still comes with an awesome 48 MP dual camera.

Battery

The software optimization will decide everything here, as the Realme 3 Pro and the Redmi Note 7 Pro come with similar battery capacity, as well as a similar hardware department. Unfortunately, we did not test Realme 3 Pro’s battery life, so we can not give a definitive opinion. Given that Samsung Galaxy A60 has a smaller battery, we believe it will lose this comparison.

Price

Realme 3 Pro starts from just €180/$200 (4/64 GB), Redmi Note 7 Pro costs €200/$225 in its base variant and Samsung Galaxy A60 costs €270/$305 (but in the 6/128 GB configuration). At the end of the day, I would go for the Samsung Galaxy A60 for its punch-hole display and ultrawide camera.

Vivo rolls out Android Pie to NEX A

A month ago, Vivo rolled out Android Pie to its 2018 flagship, the NEX S. The update is now rolling out to the Snapdragon 710 version of the phone – the Vivo NEX A.

The update is pretty heavy at 3.30GB and brings a number of new features and a new UI to the device. Some of the new features are baked around the Jovi AI Assistant. There is also a revamped Dark Mode.

Vivo NEX A Android Pie update

The Vivo NEX A has near identical specs to the NEX A. The key differences are the processor and the position of the fingerprint scanner.

The phone has a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED 1080 x 2316 display. It has no notch and very slim bezels, so it settles for a slide-out selfie camera. The 8MP sensor pops out from the left side of the top frame.
