In the weeks leading up to GDC 2019, there were rumors Google would announce a gaming console of some sort that would allow users to stream games online. Today, the tech giant announced Stadia, a cloud gaming service which is not only for gamers but also for those who like to watch others play and also those who build games.
Stadia is a cloud gaming service that doesn’t require you to purchase new hardware. All you need is the hardware you already have such as tablets and phones (Pixel), Chromecast-enabled TV, or the Chrome browser on your PC (laptop or desktop). You also don’t need to download the game you wish to play.
At the event, Google demonstrated how Stadia works using a variety of devices including a desktop PC with basic specs. Not only did the games play seamlessly on all of these devices, but you can also start playing on one device and switch to another.
Stadia works with your existing controllers. It will even work with your keyboard or mouse. Or you could just purchase Google’s own Stadia Controller which doesn’t look very different from the controllers you are used to, though it does have some unique features of its own.
The Stadia Controller connects via Wi-Fi which should make switching from one device to the other easier. It has the usual XYAB action buttons, dual joysticks, D-pad, and shoulder buttons. It also has a Google Assistant button and a capture button that allows you live-stream your game to YouTube. The controller will come in three colors but Google didn’t reveal its price.
You might be wondering how Stadia will be able to run the games on its platform. All the work is handled by Google’s data centers which pack a lot of power. Google shared the specs of the data centers and the GPU is much more powerful than that of the Xbox One X and the PS4 Pro. Stadia will be able to stream at 1080p and 4K at 60fps when it launches but in the future, it will also support streaming in 8K and at up to 120fps. It will also support cross-platform play.
Stadia isn’t just for gamers but also for game developers. There are tools available for developers that will make it easy for developers to bring their design styles to games made for the platform. All developers have to do is drop an image with the preferred style and a machine learning tool applies the style all through.
There is also State Share for YouTube creators which allows them to share exact links to specifc parts of a game. Players will be able to call up the Google Assistant to get walkthroughs for games other players have completed. There is also a feature called Crowd Play which will let you play multiplayer games against your favorite content creators.
Xiaomi took the wraps off its first Android Go smartphone dubbed Redmi Go on Tuesday in India. The Redmi Go wasn’t the only product unveiled as the Chinese tech giant also officially announced the rollout of its popular payment platform Mi Pay in India. The Mi Pay was first announced in China in 2016 and it is tailored in the same pattern as Samsung’s own payment platform – Samsung Pay, as well as Google Pay, Tencent Pay, AliPay etc.
Mi Pay was first announced for India in December last year and beta testing programme has been ongoing since then. Apparently, the feature is now fully ready to be opened for use by Mi phone users in India. Unfortunately, the Indian version of Mi Pay doesn’t use Near Field Communication (NFC) to process payments but only supports payments through leading credit and debit cards, internet banking. The platform is built on the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and is in collaboration with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and ICICI Bank and supports over 120 banks.
According to Xiaomi, the feature is very much integrated with MIUI and affords users the opportunity to easily pay for stuff from native Xiaomi apps like SMS, contacts and scanner. It also offers rapid peer-to-peer transfers to other Mi Pay users or bank accounts. Xiaomi has devoted more attention to frequently used digital payment scenarios like paying for amenities like gas, water, and electricity as well as airtime top up or paying for cable TV. The payment platform already enjoys the support of popular broadband providers like Nextra Broadband, Asianet and Hathway. Xiaomi also disclosed that Mi Pay support will soon be available on its website soon.
The new Mi Pay payment platform will likely gain some traction in no distant time considering the popularity of Xiaomi devices. The Chinese tech giant didn’t fail to clarify that Mi Pay data is stored only on Indian servers and that it has collaborated with EY and Lucideus to keep user data safe.
Qualcomm announced last week it will have a product launch today, March 19. The chip maker has announced the Qualcomm QCS400 SoC series – a new series of chipsets for smart audio devices.
The QCS400 brings immersive audio combined with on-device artificial intelligence for an improved audio experience around your home. Qualcomm says the new SoC will bring “better audio quality, optimal battery life, and next-gen voice control compared to” previous technology. Below are the three most important features of the new audio chipsets:
Improvements in voice UI with faster response times for voice commands, better sound pickup even in noisy environments and local voice control.
Smarter and more immersive sound quality – support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for a cinema-like experience.
Multi-channel connectivity which allows users to connect several speakers together with ample control over playback. This is combined with better performance and improved battery life.
The QCS400 series have a dedicated DSP that offers up to 32 channels of audio post-processing. The SoCs are also designed to support multi-keyword detection and with on-device AI, smart devices powered by them can get better and respond faster to wake-words.
The QCS400 series includes the QCS403 and QCS404 which are designed for smart Assistant and Smart speakers. The former is a dual-core SoC while the latter is a quad-core SoC. Both are clocked at 1.4GHz, support Bluetooth 5.1, and the Zigbee protocol.
HMD Global has updated the last of the devices scheduled to receive Android 9 Pie for the first quarter of 2019. Today, it announced that the update is now rolling out to the Nokia 5.1.
The Nokia 5.1 was released last August with Android Oreo, now Android Pie is rolling out to it with new features. Apart from the new UI, Pie brings a redesigned navigation, adaptive battery, adaptive brightness, and Digital Wellbeing.
A timeless classic has been redefined! Nokia 5.1 now runs the latest Android 9, Pie. Nokia smartphones just keep getting better! #GetSmartpic.twitter.com/OrAAgapOTV
The Nokia 5.1 has a 5.5-inch FHD+ display. It is the only phone powered by the Helio P18 and it is paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of storage. There is an 8MP sensor in front for selfies and a 16MP camera on the back. It also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 2,970mAh battery, and a dedicated MicroSD card slot.
We love how most of the gaming phones come with flagship-class hardware and the fastest gaming experience at a pretty affordable price. For people with a low budget seeking the best performance in terms of speed, frame rate, and reactivity, they are the among greatest alternatives. Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is the latest gaming phone out there and it comes with one of the most impressive hardware departments you can ever expect on a mobile phone. In this article, we compared it with the best gaming phones from other smartphones manufacturers which are sold in the same price range: the recent Vivo iQOO and the Nubia Red Magic Mars which recently hitten even the European market.
Xiaomi Black Shark 2 vs Vivo iQOO vs Nubia Red Magic Mars
Xiaomi Black Shark 2
Vivo iQOO
Nubia Red Magic Mars
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
163.6 x 75 x 8.8 mm, 205 grams
157.7 x 75.2 x 8.5 mm
158.2 x 75 x 9.9 mm, 193 grams
DISPLAY
6.39 inches, 1080 x 2340p (Full HD+), 403 ppi, AMOLED
6.41 inches, 1080 x 2340p (Full HD+), 402 ppi, AMOLED
Usually, smartphones dedicated to gamers also come with a gaming-centric design that consists of aggressive lines and a unique look. However, that is the farthest thing from an elegant design. That is why I would choose the Vivo iQOO from this trio: here, it is the only gaming-centric phone to come with an elegant and flagship-like design. It has a stunning and clean glass back with gradient colors, as well as a display with a very high screen-to-body ratio, a small waterdrop notch, and an in-display fingerprint reader. But if you are a gaming-addicted and you prefer a gaming-centric design, Nubia Red Magic Mars may impress you with its RGB LED strip on the rear side and that is the same with the RGB LEDs found on the Black Shark 2.
Display
On the paper, Xiaomi Black Shark 2 has the most convincing display as well as the most suitable one for gaming. It is an AMOLED panel with 100 percent of DCI-P3 coverage, the fastest response time ever seen on a smartphone display, and brilliant color reproduction. The not so narrow bezels around the display should help to deliver a solid grip making it more suitable for long gaming sessions. On the other hand, some may find the Nubia Red Magic Mars more comfortable due to its shorter and larger 18:9 aspect ratio.
Specs & Software
Nubia Red Magic Mars loses the hardware comparison due to a lower-end chipset and less impressive memory configurations. It will be a hard fight between Xiaomi Black Shark and Vivo iQOO: they both come with the best Qualcomm’s chipset for 2019. We are talking about the Snapdragon 855, paired with up to 12 GB of RAM, something insane! Xiaomi Black Shark 2 has a very efficient liquid cooling system and its display will also deliver a very low latency thanks to the 43,5 ms response rate, while Vivo iQOO comes with several technologies which improve gaming performance, connection reliability and cooling.
Camera
It may seem odd for a gaming phone, but Xiaomi Black Shark 2 even comes with an impressive camera department, so it wins the camera comparison. It has an amazing dual camera with a 48 MP main sensor and a secondary telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. It can record video in 4K resolution and it even has a great 20 MP selfie camera. The second place in the ranking goes to the Vivo iQOO with its dual camera including an ultrawide lens.
Battery
All of these devices come with a big battery, but the one of the Red Magic Mars is slightly smaller. Due to their higher capacity, their efficient components and their AMOLED displays, Xiaomi Black Shark 2 and Vivo iQOO should deliver a longer battery life and they should last more or less the same in many scenarios, but software optimization (that we have to test) will play an important role in regards to the battery life. I would go for the Vivo iQOO for its faster charging technology: it can reach 50% in just 15 mins and 100% in just 45 mins!
Price
Xiaomi Black Shark 2’s starting price is €450, while Vivo iQOO and Nubia Red Magic Mars cost about €400 and €420, respectively. At the end of the day, Xiaomi Black Shark 2 looks the most impressive device due to its better cameras, stereo speakers and outstanding hardware department, even though some may prefer the Vivo iQOO due to its more elegant design.

There is also Multi-Turbo which is a combination of Center Turbo for system resources, AI Turbi, Net Turbo for connectivity, Cooling Turbo, and Game Turbo. The Jovi Assistant is on board which also works with compatible smart home appliances.
The X27 has a 4000mAh battery with support for Vivo’s own FlashCharge 22.5W fast-charging technology. There is Vivo’s 6th generation in-display fingerprint scanner for security
Vivo X27 Pro Specs
The Vivo X27 Pro, on the other hand, has a larger 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a screen-to-body ratio of 92.12% and an aspect ratio of 20.5:9. Its pop-up selfie camera is wider and houses a 32MP sensor and a dedicated LED flash. It also has the same customizable light strips flanking it on each side.
Under the hood of the X27 Pro is the Snapdragon 710 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Its triple rear cameras are positioned in the middle of the phone and not on the left and the design on the back is different. Vivo says the phone has a U-shaped 10-layer PCB, a first for the manufacturer. It also has a dedicated audio chip and NFC.
The Vivo X27 with a Snapdragon 675 processor is priced at ¥3198 (~$476) and comes in white, green, and blue. It will be available for purchase on March 30. The Snapdragon 710 variant of the X27 will come in blue and white and be available on March 23 for ¥3598 (~$536). The Vivo X27 Pro comes in Black Pearl and White and has a price tag of ¥3998 (~$595). It won’t be available until April.

The Mi Band 3 launched last year sporting a new design and new features. Now it has been confirmed that a successor which will launch as the Mi Band 4 will arrive this year. Seeing as the Mi Band 3 didn’t come until two years after the Mi Band 2, and that itself was launched two years after the original Mi Band, it is a bit surprising that the tradition has changed.
The name of Xiaomi‘s next fitness tracker and the possible time of launch was revealed by David Cui, the Chief Financial Officer of Huami at a quarterly earnings call. The company executive was actually asked if the Mi Band 4 will be launching this month or next. While he did confirm there will indeed be a Mi Band 4 this year, he said he’s not sure if it will be launching in March or April. Below is a transcript of his response:
…..For Mi Band 4, it’s going to be in this year. It will be in 2019. But I’m not sure, it’s going to be in March and April. But, it is going to be in this year. So, right now, Mi Band 3 is still hot sale — is still — so really, really well. The margin is not shrinking, the shipments are not shrinking. So we will pick — work with Xiaomi to pick the right time to launch Mi Band 4 in the year……
In follow-up responses, Mr. Cui did say the Mi Band 4 will come with new features that will suit the consumers need. He also revealed it will be priced competitively.
OPPO Reno is expected to go official on April 10 and ahead of that, a number of details of the device have made the rounds on the rumour mills. Already, we know the device will be a flagship that would be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 chipset. Another major highlight of the model is the 48MP Sony sensor onboard. The device will also pack a big 4064mAh battery. Since it is a flagship model, one would have expected the device will have wireless charging support but that isn’t going to happen.
OPPO’s VP Bryan Shen has revealed that the Reno will not have wireless charging feature. The VP hinted that the device will also not have the latest SuperVOOC feature but will come with the latest VOOC 3.0 fast charging. According to Bryan, the VOOC 3.0 can charge the phone from 1% to full charge 23.8% faster than VOOC2.0.
OPPO’s VP has been the source of almost all the details we have known about the Reno. However, he has stopped short of revealing the pricing detail of the model. We’ll have to wait until the official launch to find out about the price.
OPPO will be announcing the OPPO Reno smartphone on April 10. The smartphone is officially confirmed to feature the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform. Today, the OPPO CPH1919 and CPH1921 powered by the SD855 SoC have been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification website. Hence, it appears that the CPH1919 and CPH1921 could be variants of the upcoming OPPO Reno smartphone. The Bluetooth certification has revealed that there could be a 5G version of the OPPO Reno phone.
The OPPO CPH1919 possesses a 6.65-inch that produces full HD+ resolution. The Snapdragon 855 SoC powers the smartphone. It features a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 13-megapixel triple camera unit and a selfie snapper of 16-megapixel. Its Android OS will be customized with ColorOS 6.0 UI.
The OPPO CPH1921 has the same specs as the aforementioned CPH1919 phone. The key difference between the two devices is the CPH1919 supports 4G LTE networks only whereas the CPH1921 carries support for 5G connectivity. This indicates that the Snapdragon 855 SoC of the CPH1919 will have X24 LTE modem whereas the SoC of the CPH1921 will be coupled with X50 5G modem. A recent leak had also revealed that the there will be a 5G variant of the OPPO Reno phone.

Today, we’ve got our hands on the Zenbre SoundBank Z8 Plus, a wireless speaker that cost £69.99, and for that price, you get a premium speaker. So, let’s check out the Zenbre SoundBank Z8 Plus in detail.
UNBOXING
The speaker ships with a USB charging cable, a 3.5mm audio cable and a user manual. It also has two soft foams that the Z8 Plus is encased in.
DESIGN
With a cylindrical design, Zenbre Z8 Plus adopts a soft silicone chassis above and below, and the button and ports are set on the silicone chassis. The basic design is clean except for the elastic webbing band which is designed for taking the speaker out.
I will call the button side as the top side since you can operate the Z8 Plus through this side, which comprises of a power on/off button, a next/previous music button, a TWS key, an EQ key, a call, and Bluetooth button and a mode switch button. What’s more, there are two small LED lights to display the status of the speaker.
On the bottom side, the ports are hidden under a silicone flap that has a logo of ZENBRE. The Z8 Plus comes with a microSD card slot, a microUSB charging port, a 3.5mm aux jack, and a USB Disk port. It’s convenient for users to store music with the microSD card, and I love this feature. The speaker offers enough options to the user, making it a practical choice for multiple occasions.
SOUND QUALITY
The £69.99 cost speaker will not disappoint you as it has pretty good sound quality. We played a lot of songs with lyrics as well as complex music to check its performance. After turning on the speaker, you can press EQ key to switch between Normal, Treble and Bass modes. In the normal mode, the performance of songs heavy on lyrics turned out to be good. Even the highs were pretty crisp except for a minimum amount of distortion.
But once you switch to the Treble mode, the performance changes quite significantly. Vocals are louder and clearer. The Treble mode is amazing that livens up the vocals of the song, and personally, I am a fan of the Treble mode. Compared to the Tribit XBoom Bluetooth Speaker ($59.49), the Bass mode of Zenbre Z8 Plus is not powerful enough to shake a table. So, while the bass is pretty good for a speaker of its size, it doesn’t have the thumping effect of the XBoom speakers.
But on the whole, I prefer Zenbre SoundBank Z8 Plus over the Tribit XBoom Bluetooth Speaker. Like I said in the Tribit Speaker Review, the XBASS mode is too loud for me, and the bass is not my priority. The treble mode is definitely why I would pick the Zenbre SoundBank Z8 Plus. Turning up the volume and switching to the Treble mode can give you stereo surroundsound experience that gets you completely immersed in music. It’s fantastic!
CONCLUSION
The Zenbre SoundBank Z8 Plus comes with IPX6 Waterproof and is fueled by 6600mAh built-in battery that makes sure that you can take it to the swimming pool and enjoy music for up to 18 hours in 60% volume. The speaker weighs about 1160g and comes with 101mm x 102.5mm x 221mm dimensions. Personally, it’s a bit too heavy. So, carrying it around while walking is not really a comfortable option.
[envira-gallery id=”241571″]
Overall, the Zenbre SoundBank Z8 Plus is a great affordable Bluetooth speaker. Therefore, I can recommend this speaker if you are looking for something that can play good music with powerful vocals, and decent bass, for up to 18 hours.

Yesterday, Xiaomi had launched the Snapdragon 855 powered Black Shark 2 gaming phone in China. Few hours ahead of its unveiling, Nubia General Manger Ni Fei shared six key features of the upcoming Nubia Red Magic 3 through a Weibo post. He also hinted that the company’s next gaming phone will be made official in April.
The Nubia Red Magic 3 will be equipped with liquid + air cooling technology. The translated of his Weibo post suggests that the device will be equipped with a turbo fan. It remains to be seen whether it is a cooling fan feature for which the company had received patent approval recently.
The Red Magic 3 will be coming with the industry’s strongest mobile processing platform and highest operating RAM. This indicates that the smartphone will be driven by Snapdragon 855 and 12 GB of RAM. The display of the Red Magic 3 will be offering far better refresh rate than gaming PCs. This suggests that the phone may deliver a high refresh rate of 120 Hz like the Razer Phone. Also, the phone will be come with enhanced eye protection features.
The Nubia Red Magic and Red Magic Mars smartphone are packed with 3,800mAh batteries. The upcoming Red Magic 3 will include a larger battery than what powered the predecessor models.
